a p p e a r a n c ex // x There was a time when Salvaxe sought after the strongest host, the most fearsome warrior with eyes filled with rage. But times have changed and so has the definition of animal instinct. In his human form, Theo is tall with lean muscles built for agility and stealth. His long hair and usually bearded face give him a soft, almost welcoming apperance thats leads to trust over avoidance. He generally dresses simply in dark jeans, boots, and a henley, though he has been known to dress up if the time is right.

Shapeshifting // Though apart of Theo's original ability as a Shapeshifter, Salvaxe's powers have infused with his to allow him to take the form of any animal. He can take the form of any beast he chooses, communicate with others of that species, and use their abilities as his own. He does not retain the ability to communicate in human language while shapeshifted, though there are a few Gods that have been able to communicate with him telepathically.
Semi-Immortal // Only a supernatural weapon or another god can kill Theo, as provided through Salvaxe's powers.
Animal Mimicry // While note shifted, Theo is also able to mimic the abilities of animals, within the limites of his own human body. He can use the extraordinary abilities of animals in order to increase his strength, speed, agility, hearing, speech, or tracking abilities.
Speak to Animals // Theo can communicate with any animal at will. This power also allows him to communicate over long distances, like calling for a pack of wolves. The animals do not need to respond, though many understand Salvaxe as their god and will obey.[/size]

Clever x // x Theo has always been able to worm his way out of any situation, deceptively manipulating his words so that he can appease those around him. He may seem like a pushover, but he's always preferred to say alive another day. This skill has lead him to also beleive he can work his way out of any situation, landing him in trouble more often then not.
Agile x // x Whatever Theo lacks in physical strength, he makes up more in nimbleness and grace. Salvaxe has always chosen hosts for their brawn over brain, but with this one he went the opposite. Theo's agility is shown in the animals he chooses to choose in to and protect; birds, foxes, cats, snakes. Things that can move quickly and effeciantly.
Freindly x // x Theo generally gets along with most people right off the bat. He's smooth and complient to the world around him, allowing himself to take on different personas to blend in better. He isnt disingenuous, he just holds the ability to wear many hats. Those that he does rub the wrong way.... well he avoids them.

Rage x // x Theo is not an angry god by nature, but Salvaxe is. In moments of true cruelity, usually animal cruelity, Theo slips up. These are the few times he turns into something truely terrifying and does not hold himself back. Theo is not proud of these moments and hates it when they are brought up.
Untrustworthy x // x His slippery nature makes him seem like he cannot be trusted. And whos to say? There are people and gods in Theo's life that he would never fuck over, but there are also some that he doesn't give a shit about. He is loyal, but only to a select few.
Humans x // x He doesn't hate them, but he does have an odd reltioanship with them. Humans are the creatures that have subjugated the rest of the world to their selfishness. As a Shapeshifter, Theo has always felt that his human transformation is the ugliest of all. But they are a necessary evil for now.

Theo's family were all shapeshifters, their forms fluid for generations to the point that children did not inherit any particular physical features from their parents. Forms, colors, and species preferences were passed down, thematic fur colorations or patterns on wings. Theo's father had always preferred colorful animals, even going as far as to add abstract shades into the furs of his canines or felines. Humans were used to shapeshifters enough by now that the strange dyed animals never got more than a few looks. But Theo had taken after his mother as he aged. Darker animals, animals built to survive and adapt were more her speed. Theo always gravitated more towards a raccoon than a bear, a coyote over a dog, an alleycat over a tiger.
His family wasn't rich, but they had a home and food every night. Most days his parents worked and most nights they worked freelance gigs using their shapeshifting ability. People paid a lot for the intel a crow could pick up or the ferocity a cougar could bring to a fight. Although Theo was a polite kid at home, the lack of parental supervision meant he also spent most nights away.
As a shapeshifter, he got noticed quickly. The group of human teenagers he started hanging out with started asking him to do jobs, small burglary, or surveillance. Things that he enjoyed doing because they used the species that he most gravitated towards.
And he was good at it.
His ability to choose a form that would suit him best, get in and out of a job using the instincts of that animal, and not get caught gave their little group a name for itself. Theo agreed to any job thrown at him as long as it didn't involve the killing of humans or animals.
Theo's parents kept an eye on him, but it would have been hypocritical of them to tell him off when he was only following in their footsteps. Shapeshifter kids grew up quickly, the fluidity of their forms making it hard to pinpoint age. A twelve-year-old human appeared to be a child, but as a wolf that was full grown. Instincts allowed shapeshifter parents to trust their kids more, knowing that as long as they instilled the correct values there kids could do the rest on their own.
For the most part, Theo kept himself out of harms way. Until he didn't. As their name grew, so did their group of hoodlum friends he ran with. It wasn't long till it was absorbed into a larger gang and his small stealth stunts turned into larger, scarier missions. He was being asked to do more reckless work, to take shapes with teeth and claws rather than nimbleness and agility. Theo was soon taking the form of a grizzly more often then than a coyote, resulting in more bullet wounds then bountiful cash.
He was managing it fine for a while. Avoiding the real dirty work, keeping his claws clean, never leaving the bunker in his human form. He changed species often so their enemies assumed the gang had multiple shapeshifters under their built, though in reality, it was only him. There was an unease surrounding his daily life, a strange sort of danger screaming at him every morning. So when the job came for him to bodyguard an event that their boss was cohosting, Theo accepted hesitantly.
It was located at a dockside harbor inside a warehouse used to store boats. It had been emptied out and a center rink was created for onlookers to look down upon. The warehouse stunk of fear and anger, so tangible Theo felt like it was coming from inside himself. He'd arrived as a guard dog, a hulking doberman as requested by their boss. And it didn't take him long to figure out why he'd been asked to take the shape of a canine.
He smelt the dying pits before he saw them. He heard the vicious snarling before they were dragged out into the rink. The absolute terror coming from these animals made his whole body seize in unquestionable panic. There was a moment that Theo's human instincts told him no before that carnal rage ripped out of him.
Theo woke up sometime later in pain. He'd changed during his vicious attack, his fury manifesting into the form of a sleek panther. Around him lay the bodies of over a dozen humans, a few of them still gurgling from their ripped throats as if that would allow them to survive. The dogs were gone, either escaped or captured again by the humans that had made it out. His fur was black from blood, both his and his preys, but the growing circle of wet around him told him it was mostly his own.
"You fought well for one that usually takes the form of cowardly prey" The voice was clear, concise, with a growling undercurrent that meant more animal than human. He was also fairly certain he was hallucinating in his near-death state, as the voice had come from the thin air in front of him.
Not prey. Just an animal that understands an opportunity when they see it. I'm not into these flashy top 40 favorites.
"Well that choice has left you in a growing puddle of your own blood. Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could stop it at this point. But I do think you could be of some use to me still and it would allow you to stay alive"
I don't know who the fuck you are. But I don't think I can feel below my neck anymore, so have at it.
The empty space in front of him oozed smirking victory, though Theo hadn't put up much of a fight. And then within that space, a white, blinding glow appeared that seem to encapsulate his body.
