"Life is just one big joke!"

0 · 990 views · located in Lorgaine

a character in “Gods in a New Age”, as played by SirLancelot

Description

Name: Katergaris
Title/s: The Jester, The Trickster God.
Creed:
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Elder/New God: Elder God, Katergaris was brought into existence around the same time that Humans were, with the Humans ability to joke and laugh and play pranks on eachother this very energy spurred his creation and now he thanks them by tricking them and messing around with their lives.
Portfolios Governed: Tricks, Jokes, Humour, Pranks.
Physical Description:
Image

Katergaris stands at 6'3" with a slim yet acrobatic build. His clothes are always colourful and he always wears a hat upon his head which more often than not has bells attached to them. Katergaris' appearance represents his ever-present joviality, he is always bright and happy however this does not represent his actions in the slightest.

Katergaris can also take the form of his favoured animals: The Coyote and The Raven

Realm/Home: Katergaris resides partly in the Mortal world and partly outside of it. He enjoys visiting the Mortal world and will spend most of his time there however when the God desires some respite from his endless pranking The Jester enjoys retiring to his 'Fun House'. To all who enter it is an endless black abyss with a single box in the middle with a crank on the side, if you wish to enter you must use the crank and after a random amount of time (It could be seconds or years) the box with open and a large Clown will drag you into the box.

Once inside the box however a large room sprawls out in front of you and inside there is a single door, to pass you must think like a Trickster. If you enter the door, you will just pass through the other side however the door is not the only thing in the room, the room also contains a table and a saw.

If you pass that trial however you reach the last test of the Trickster, you are placed in a seemingly normal town with seemingly normal citizens, however the citizens are all wearing various Jester/Harlequin outfits and are given a single day (Of the 'Fun House' time frame, which could be merely minutes in the 'Real' world) to cause as much fun and pranks as possible if you fail however, you will murdered by the towns citizens in a hilarious and brutal manner.

Symbol: Image

This is the symbol that represents Katergaris and all he stands for.

Personality: Katergaris always has a happy and care-free demeanor about him when he is seen, not caring what others think of him or his actions everything he does is for the fun of it, however the 'tricks' he enjoys playing are not always quite as pleasant as he would have you believe they are often harmful either physically or emotionally and Katergaris seems oblivious to that fact. When interacting with other Gods Katergaris enjoys telling jokes and making fun of them about as much as he does when he interacts with Mortals, no matter how powerful you claim to be you will eventually fall victim to one of his many pranks or even worse, one of his jokes.

Katergaris does have a darker side however, if angered to a degree where he will show it then no-one will get in his way. He will make it his goal to destroy you with seemingly harmless jokes and tricks until you cannot bear it. Pray you never see one of these tricks.

View of Mortals: Mortals are his audience, his assistants and his victims all at the same time. He sees every mortal as an opportunity to have fun and have a few laughs much to the dismay of the mortals around him. He likes to play with them and to some he will even modify his tricks to suit them personally.

List any Mortal Creations/Organizations: Katergaris has no real mortal followers. Some may pray to him to cause trouble for one of their enemies however even these mortals know that if Katergaris sees the opportunity to entertain himself that he will take it.

So begins...

A small town, bustling with life. Humans were everywhere especially the local Tavern, which was where Katergaris decided to stay for a while. He felt like he should be somewhere else but he just couldn't place his finger on it. Katergaris' thoughts were interrupted by a very attractive Human woman who entered the Tavern, she walked over and sat next to him at the bar ordering herself a drink. Katergaris' ever-smiling features turned their attention to her. "May I buy you that drink?" He asked kindly turning to the Barman and saying "Put in on my tab..." The Woman lifted her drink and smiled at the strange man, Katergaris' waved his hand and the drink changed colour slightly. The woman took a sip of the drink and fell to the floor retching and gagging. Katergaris wasn't exactly sure what he did to the drink but it was hilarious. The Trickster God fell to the floor laughing and rolling around, the smell of sewage pouring from the tankard the woman was drinking from.

Karergaris jumped up without warning and walked out of the Tavern. "Thanks Bill..." After the God had left and the Woman had recovered they both looked at eachother. "He doesn't have a tab.....And who's Bill?" The pair looked at eachother fuming. The immature God wandered the town yet again, looking for more trouble to get into. It was then he remembered where he had to be. Oh!...I knew I had to go somewhere today... He thought to himself as he willed his staff into existence, it fell to the ground completely up-right and stayed perfectly straight. The Jester lept on top on it, balancing on the smiling top.

Katergaris began to bounce slowly, the staff lifting with every bounce. The God continued to bounce and all of a sudden he was bouncing into the air using the staff like a pogo stick, the seemingly rigid staff bending in ways un-imaginable to Mortals. He arrived at the Hall of Immortals moments later. He bounced into the door, sliding slowly down it as it opened.

The sound of bells jingling as he walked, brought attention to his arrival. He always loved to make an entrance and he sure did. He entered the Hall by walking on the ceiling, examining all the Gods and he did.

First there was Revan Thanatos, The Jester didn't really mind him all too much but he was just too serious all the time and what was with all the black? It wasn't a funeral, no need to be wearing all the dark colours. The God of Justice was never really any trouble apart from the constant warnings about Katergaris' encounters with Mortals, what did he expect? Katergaris was the Trickster God.

Next there was Athena, yet another serious God, God of War and Order. One thing interested Katergaris about Athena though, that helmet she always wore. He wondered if you could make the plume into a hair-style. It would look pretty cool in his opinion but other then that Katergaris actually quite liked Athena. Infact Katergaris liked all the Gods, they may be a little serious but they were always eager participants in his tricks...Or were they victims? Katergaris shrugged off the thought and continued scanning the crowd.

Corallium drew his attention. She was pretty for sure but Katergaris wasn't exactly sure what she actually 'did', she lived in this big castle somewhere and had servants and stuff but apart from that he wasn't sure. She was the Goddess of Fate and the Temptress, Katergaris was tempted to do many things all the time, like he was right now.

The Jester landed on the table straight in the center, the table shook and the food and drink shuddered. "Hello everyone! It is I! Katergaris! How're my fellow Immortals doing on this wonderful day!?"

Alahya smiled as her brush swirled around the room, producing nothing to mortals yet a beautiful room had any God or Goddess known where she lives, it was at times like this that Alahya was glad she didn't choose to live with the Elven people as although she loves their kind ways and soft hearts - Nothing could compare to her own world, a world where music and art is limitless yet only seen by those that are Immortal.

Suddenly remembering their meeting she stops abruptly, creating a horrid mash up between a dove and a horse, "Sorry little one," She whispers to it as it comes to life, she takes her cover-up and blots the mishap out.

Standing up, Alahya pats down her deep purple robes and picks up her pencil, sketching a carriage - Her favorite modes of transport are those that she draws - and then gasps, putting in a driver.
She splashes some colour on it with her paintbrush of tones and rhythms and gets in, keeping her pencil and brush close by her side.

As they ride in the emptiness between her world and that of the mortals, she amuses herself by drawing a harp and begins playing, quietly to start out with and then they enter the mortal world; Alahya's music picks up sound and she smiles as Human people look to see where this music is coming from.

As she passes the Elven people, she notices that none of them try and find where the music is, as they know 'tis the Goddess of Music & Art.
Although when they pass the Orcs - Well - they aren't happy, born to fight and lust for blood where does art and fine music fit into the equation for them?
It doesn't.

Finally arriving Alahya enters their meeting place with grace, the harps music still playing yet she does not lift a finger.
She smiles at everyone and then sees possible one of her favorite Gods, 'The Jester' mortals called him and in fact, that was almost just what he was.

Walking over to where he had landed she smiles, "Hello, Jester." She smiles, using his favored name.
She then turns to see the two Goddess' she had grown rather fond of, the Goddess of Love and the Goddess of War and Order.
Despite her title, the war Goddess was fairly nice.
"Hello Ladies." She smiles to them yet still stays by the Jester's side.

Arabella, Katergaris, The Triumvirate and Alahya were next to arrive. Arabella, Katergaris and Alahya were not Revan's favorite individuals. He harbored no ill will to them personally, it was merely that in which they governed that gave him pause. Take Alahya for example. Music and art were little more then distractions, not something a deity should devote themselves too for what power could there truly be in music, what knowledge could one glean from a painting? Katergaris was a Trickster through and through, not evil just devious. Revan saw him as little more than a nuisance at his worst and a joke at best. Despite this Katergaris was quite literally the only creature in existence who could amuse Revan, his eccentric torturing of criminals Revan has brought to him in the past always put a smile on his face. Then there was Arabella. Ideals such as love and beauty were vain wastes of time. Innocence was laughable for it did not exist. Revan Thantos had walked this world since Lorgain began and if there was one thing he's learned it was this, no one is innocent.

There was one new arrival who Revan was quite fond of or rather a group of new comers. The masters of the underworld, lords of the dead and tribunal of souls. Indris, Kelmor and Menoth, one of the select few Revan called friends. The illusive justice god had worked with these three for centuries and they have built quite the rapport. As the god of justice and punishment it was Revan job to act as judge jury and executioner to the all those living, mortal and immortal. The Triumvirate served a similar role to the leagues of the dead. The passed judgment on each and every soul that passed into the afterlife. Before their eyes the whole of someone life was layed bare and the culmination of your sins was set against you. Should you have led a life of wickedness or malcontent you would suffer for all of eternity. Should you have lived your life justly and with honor your immortal soul would be rewarded for all time. Oddly enough the two gods who had sent the most to the realm of the undead was Revan and his noble sister Athena. The golden child had nearly as much blood on her hands as he did yet their fellows rarely seemed to notice the bodies she had put into the ground. One look at Revan however and it was like they were staring at a murderer in the act. The sentiment aggravated him to no end.

The Justice Bringer made his way past his kin, ignoring those he saw as unimportant namely Arabella and Alahya. As he brushed past Katergaris and patted him on the shoulder briefly in greeting as he gave the Trickster a nod. His true attentions were on The Tirumvirate for it was before them that he stopped and gave proper greeting.

"Kelmor, Menoth, Indris. Good to see you three."

The greeting was warm, well as warm as one like Revan can be and earnest. He truly was happy to see the three masters of the dead. Ironically for the judges of the dead they were the only ones who did not judge Revan for his actions, for what he was forced to do. For that and for their understanding justice they were his only true friends. Revan leaned in as he folded his arms over his chest casually and whispered to them with a smirk.

"I wouldn't make it through another of these things without you lot."

Corallim was indignant with annoyance as Revan Thanatos walked away from her without so much as a word. She was sorely tempted to drag him back to her by her elusive powers.

They had a topic Coral was in great need to discuss. Yet, she supposed she could save her scolding words for him for later. It wasn't something she wished to discuss in front of all the other Immortals anyway. Although, this was exactly what these boring meetings were for. Coral did not subscribe to the general status quo. She did as she saw fit.

It would not bode well for him, either way. Her sharp gaze followed his path to The Triumvirate. The Goddess of Fate held somewhat a ungrudging regard for them, they all intertwined with her work. Life, Death, Rebirth. It was all nothing without Destiny leading the way.

Though it appeared to many Corallium did nothing in particular; her powers of cause and effect worked the whole universe unseen. Like the wind blowing a branch on a tree. One could not see the wind traverse but one could feel and see the branch move. She was an integral yet invisible part of the mechanics. Of course, she couldn't help but interfere sometimes, when the spoils of the ends were so delectable . . . But all was meant to be as it was. Or she'd be out of a job.

Sighing, Coral moved towards the table. Revan Thanatos would have to wait. She took a seat at the head of the table next to The Goddess of Love, Beauty & Innocence. Corallium felt Arabella recoil from her presence and move slightly away from her, closer to Athena. Coral knew she unsettled many of her kin. They feared the knowledge she could posses and hold over them with but the merest touch of their Aura.

She was not offended by Arabella's actions, it amused her to say the least.

“Come now, Lady Love.” Corallium turned and darkly teased the Goddess of all things good. “I know I haven't been innocent for a very long time now, but that was just rude.”

Her attention was diverted when the Jester landed in the center of the table.

"Hello everyone! It is I! Katergaris! How're my fellow Immortals doing on this wonderful day!?" He declared as if he needed an introduction.

There was noway in hell she would be touching a single item of food on that table now.

Jester.” Corallium said sultrily as she raised her glass to him in greeting and finished the little Absinthe left in her cup. “Now that you are here, at least I shan't die of boredom.”

The room was steadily beginning to fill up now at long last. Time to get this thing on the road . . .

“Seeing as most of us have been foolish enough to turn up,” Corallium addressed the whole room in a clear voice as sweet and deadly as Nightshade laced thickly in tedium and sarcasm as she relaxed back in her seat like a Queen on a Throne. “Why don't we get this laborious affair started. After all, some of us have better things to do, like sticking needles in one's eyes.”

She smiled wickedly as the room hushed of all conversation and all eyes fell on her.

Or at least, I hear it is mildly more pleasanter then this whole affair.”

Corallium teased with a flicker of her wrist.

"Let us begin . . ."

Finally, some decent Immortals were arriving. Librus was about to just give up and drink wine, so he wouldn't have to listen to the damned fools sober. Now that Alahya and Katergaris were here, things would look up. Librus very much enjoyed Alahya's works, and how they stimulated the mind to do greater things. It was good to have such a creative force in the world such as she.

"Hello, Alahya. It seems you're doing well. Good to see you." Librus said in warm greeting to her.

Katergaris, on the other hand, was just a Trickster, a master of entertainment at another's expense. Yes, it could get annoying and stupid, but it was entertaining. And to get through this, Librus would need entertainment.

"Jester. I do hope you've come up with new tricks since last time. Wouldn't want this meeting to be boring." He said in another formal greeting.

Librus hadn't noticed the Triumvirate enter the hall, but now that he did he wished he didn't. While he had no qualms with them personally, they were chummy with Revan. Indris and Kalmor were Librus' favorites, but Menoth was awfully dark. He may be the Scribe of the trio, but the darkness was there all the same.

Librus gave in finally and filled his cup with wine. Taking a sip, Librus sank back into his chair and awaited the what was left of the arrivals.

"Thrilled to be here, as usual Revan" His lips were closed and tightened in a thin smile after he spoke. Always one reluctant to leave his abode for anywhere else his tone easily conveyed his discomfort "I was rather pleased with the last soul you banished from the world above, what a devious little whelp he was. I've been having a lot of fun watching his mother give him a-" The rest of the sentence was cut off as Indris broke in, her eyes aflame as she glared towards her sibling.

"I'm sure none of us want to hear what dark delights you've put his quarry through dear brother" Her voice was slightly brittle for a moment with the false sweetness before she turned her attention to Revan, and in her much more normal tone spoke "A pleasure as always Revan, our duties have sometimes brought us together for fleeting moments but it has been too long since we were able to speak, or rather more than a simple greeting. I have a similar situation with Athena but she and her valkaryies are always in such a rush once the wounded have become the fallen."

"My dear sister is correct Revan, neither of us seem to have caught you except in fleeting moments. But then as we are all rather individualists it is expected for us to keep our own council, we however do not have much choice but to work in concert." His low rumbling voice echoing slightly as he directed towards the other two. "But I must say that the long walk mortals take into own judgement is not as feared by many as it once was, our priesthood appear to be continuing to serve their purpose well, and many lost souls who have taken the route of 'Undeath' rather than be part of the wheel." he paused for a moment as if the word sickened him.

"The suffering of the damned is my choice brother, as are my methods of enacting such." Menoth cut in, his irritation at being stuck here growing with every passing moment. "Coral is right, sticking a knife into the eye would be preferable... I've got a nice couple just perfect for it in fact."

"Yes brother, I'm sure you do." Indris said, her tone slightly dispoindent, after all there was little to be said about her siblings activities, since nothing would bother him for his duty was something he took to heart.

Kelmor shook his head slowly before turning back towards Revan "So what is this about?"

Revan turned to the sound of Corallium's voice as she adressed the group. Her voice coupled with her posture oozed sophistication and superiority. Her eyes drifted around the room like a queen looking at her court. Revan's eyebrow arched in curiousity at what an oddity this was. She was in now way superior to any here, nay they were all technically equals yet there she was, lording over them all confidently. Such sellf assurance was admirable. Kelmor echoed Lady Fate's desire to get the days events under way and Revan was inclined to agree.

"This is about what it has always been about dearest Kelmor, Lorgaine."

Revan said speaking up, adressing all in attendance. His eyes targeted Corallium for the most fleeting of moments as if to show her she was not the only one who could lord over the sheep.

"We as it's lords and masters are tasked with spreading our influence across the whole of creation and all those who live within it. This meeting is in the hopes to keep each and every one of us working closely together for the good of all. All has it's place here. Love and War, Chaos and Order, Fate and the Death of all things."

His words hung heavy in the air with commanding authority and presence. Revan's glowing emerald eyes fell on each deity in the hall for the birefest of moments before he continued.

"So I open the floor to you all. Are there any issues to be presented to the group of us? Any concerns to be addressed? Now is the time to do so..."

Arabella took of the mead and finally couldn't take the taste anymore. She waved her hand over the goblet and soon the liquid turned into water and she smiled to herself. 'Innocence...such a bother sometimes.' She thought to herself with a sigh. 'Can't even enjoy a small cup of mead without gagging.' She listened to everyone chatter away and returned many complimetns to everyone and gave them smiles. She liked generally all of the gods and goddesses there were just select few that she sometimes had a problem with. Many of the mischievous gods and goddesses made her tasks quite unbearable at times, the wars, famines, and deaths were her biggest problems. She hated it when one of the Immortals decided to fool around or mess with her balance of the beauty she bestowed upon nature or the elves. She was very protective of her dear beloved followers as the more they prayed to her for help or guidance the more power she felt and recieved.

Arabella's eyes turned into a dark, deep, black as they burned with anger feeling and hate the more and more she thought of the intentions of the other Immortals. She closed her eyes as her hands turned into fists and she took a deep breath calming herself. She exhaled slowly and when she opened her eyes they were back to their normal unnatural bright glowing blue color. She turned her attention to Revan and tried to get her mind off of everything. She looked int his eyes and always had admired how the seemed to glow with the brilliant green shade. She smiled to herself thinking, 'Only time when my eyes change to that color is when I'm ill or weak.' She mentally laughed to herself and she shook her head softly and refocused herself on the matters that she wanted to address to her peers.

Arabella raised her hand and then took it down, to let the others know she was about to speak. "I have no issues that need to be further investigated. However, I would like to make the matter clear that I do not condone the pillaging of the lands that the Orcish people have seemed to take part in." She closed her eyes maintaining her sanity, her eyes turned a dark orange tone as she continued trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. "They marauded one of my temples and tortured to death some of my dear elvish priests. Now I normally would let this kind of unfortunate event pass but it has happened to 4 other of my temples in the eastern region of Lorgaine. Now I'd like to try and see that issue may be lessened to an extent to where only a few of my temples are still standing. Or I may start to stop blessing some of the Orc's with my gifts and let their population dwindle." Finished feeling a bit unsettled with so many eyes upon her as her own shifted into a light shade of pink as she took a sip of her goblet of pure water, feeling a bit shy now. "Now I'm not sure if it is in anyones power to help stop this, but if so, I'd something done, about it, please." She finished and folded her fingers together in her lap and sat in her chair straighter with a small smile spread upon her flawless face.

Librus nods to Alahya. "I'm well, dear. We really must catch up later." He says with a smile before turning to address the room as well. "I must say as well, the wars and violence that arises from the Orcs is causing problems for my researchers. Many parties have been slain due to the Orcs' onslaught. One entire library has also been razed, but the Catalogers were able to save most of the volumes. A lot of mortals live in fear, and this is impeding their studies." Librus says, loud enough for the other Immortals to hear, but just so. This subject made his blood boil and turn, but it needed discussing. His followers' progress with building more libraries is being halted by the increasing attacks, and Librus wanted to ensure their safety.

However, he also knew that the Orcs were part of the balance of Lorgaine. Their rampages were necessary. This angers Librus, but he keeps it under wraps. There was a solution, but it entailed arming the Humans and Elves to the teeth, making them no better than Orcs. Librus takes a swig of water and a bit of apple, which was wonderfully sweet, and awaits the ideas of the other Immortals. No doubt suggestions of weapons and armies would appear.

Athena did not want the meeting to commence. Least not yet. She had been meaning to ask Alahya about some songs sung by the minstrels and the latest poetry on the valiant acts of the Knights of Santiago. Not to mention, with her good spirits, she wouldn't mind hearing a couple of the Jester's jokes. No need for things to become so serious so soon right? Alas it seemed things were not meant to go as Athena wished and rather then fight it, she went with the flow and made sure to pay attention.

While fair Lady Love brought up the Orcs and Librus also stating the problems the damned green skins were giving his lot, Athena closed her eyes to peek on the events down below. She could see the horde march onward and she witnessed them take much delight in sacking any settlements that they came by. It was a sickening sight to behold, the innocence that was being butchered, but Athena saw it all and then let her eyes turn to see what was happening with the humans.

First thing she saw was pitchforks and torches, the arms of an out of control mob. Uniformed soldiers were everywhere with their own weapons. Attempts to calm the crowd civilly, then with threats, and lastly with action. The whole event turned bloody. It seemed the Anarchist God was having his fun turning brother against brother in this kingdom. Athena knew from past experience that when such a thing happened in any nations, the neighbors either got involved or put all their efforts into staying out of it. The Orcish horde may be on the march but they were still some ways away from the human kingdoms and so they would not give them much thought till then. They would be those that would demand the orcs be dealt with now before they were a threat then later when they were knocking on the city gates but these would few. The ears that heard them would be fewer still and those that choose to face the horde would not be sufficient to provide significant relief to the elves. Making things all the more grim, Athena couldn't really do a thing about it.

The Goddess of War had long ago chosen to stay (for the most part) out of mortal affairs. She could have her Valkyries give hand out blessings to aid those courageous individuals brave the horde. Other then that, it was out of her hands. Athena pondered on the matter for a bit. Mmm...If there was a Knight Order or a similar faction, devoted to handle such matters perhaps... Athena ventured on with this idea...her gut telling her to drop it but her warriors heart rather liked it. Then the Goddess romanticized the idea a bit. She envisioned men in armor , on horseback, riding out to thin the green skin Horde. She imagined the minstrels writing epic poems and singing songs of their deeds and of course how grateful the mortals would be of such a group's dedication to protect the innocence.

Her eye's opened up wide and they even seemed to have an added spark.

".Brace yourselves," they seemed to warn, "The Goddess of War has an Idea!".

Athena thought it was nothing short of pure brilliance and had no option but to voice her suggestion, if not to address the matter at hand then to calm her growing excitement.

" Lord Librus, Lady Arabell.", the Goddess of War begun, placing her helmet on her head and stood up to pace the room but never did she not face her peers. "If I could find an individual with exceptional valor and courage, a compassionate soul with sympathy for others and the heart of Lion so he could rally others and lead them true...Then my I and my celestial servants could convince him to create a new Knight Order, or something, with the sole purpose of protecting the innocent from the Orcs.".

Lady Athena remained standing after she finished speaking, no doubt awaiting to hear approval from her peers or just the opposite. It was rather obvious the War Goddess was fond of this idea and like all things that she fancied, she would put up a fight defending it.

Revan folded his arms across his chest as his brilliant mind scrutinzed Athena's plan. The creation of some pious order of knights charged with defending the faithful from all external threats that would do them harm. Surely the God of Justice should see the benefit in such a law enforcing and noble organization. This was not entirely the case. Revan knew well the corruption of man, he had dealt with it several times in his own organization of assassin's charged with cutting out the bleeding heart of criminality in Lorgaine. Several head masters of the ages had thought themselves above the law and Revan had stepped down to the mortal realm to show them just how saddly wrong they were. Their screams of agony served as reminders to any others thinking along the same lines. The danger for some overly empowered group of puffed up knights would serve only as a hinderance if the men who swore themselves to fight for the goddess were not as noble as they would have her to beleive.

Yet the Children of The Bat had made great strides in the undless battle against injustice. They had dismantled criminal organizations, tyrant kings, gone where the law couldn't and did what others had not the stomache to do, save the world with the flick of a knife. Perhaps this order of Athena's could do something similar. True their directives would be different. They would focus more on safeguarding the so called innocents. While Revan felt this style of leadership was too tame for a battle against evil it had its uses. These knights could keep the illusion of saftey upheld for the mob of mortals. They could allow the mortals with their lofty ideals of truth and honor that they were safe. This would allow Revan and his agents to do the real work in the shadows. Let Athena and her knights have their damned glory, let the sheep sing their praises. This would take the attention off Revan and his assassins and allow them to vanish into the shadows to strike out at criminality without the moans of the populace crying for salvation.

"I say this is a fine idea Lady War. Your knights would be a welcome source of security for the people and one they no doubt sorely need now. The orcs have been ravaging for sometime with no force to stand against them, until now it seems."

Revan's words seemed bold and empassioned yet it was all a ploy, all a lie. He didn't care if the people felt safe. He cared about destroying all who would dare seek to actually threaten that saftey. The orcs are orcs, it is in their nature to slaughter yet they are constantly in a stae of war so no act they have commited had actually been criminal or unjust. Under the tenants of war what they have been doing was, technically, justified. That fact was the only thing that saved them from Revan's wrath. The orcs were not his problem, let Athena deal with them.

The Triumvirate had moved from the side and taken up place at the central table, its simple asthetic was not lost on them. The circle which brought balance and order to all things and was an equaliser they knew all too well.

"The Orcs are simply giving into their nature and the bloodlust which stems from that. If they are given to walking the path of the chaotic warrior then they will continue to slaughter in its name." His voice was cold, as always for the land of the living held little interest to him save that all souls be prepared to journey down and that those of undeath were purged.

"What my brother says is true, while I mourn for those lost in their bloody hunting it is simply their nature. They are a race we have all left to cultivate itself rather than guiding it to better things" This last part she directed towards Alahya "They are not mindless beasts of burden as most humans and elves believe, after all I have seen members of both races condemned for such ignorance. They are a race of untold potential beyond simple carnage. Our Eternal Order of Clerics and Paladins has welcomed Orcs into the fold and they have been as useful tools in our tasks as any other." She ended her words by staring at Alahya with a certain coldness

The last to speak he kept his words breif, especially after his sisters noble counter to the others call for war and conflict "There is little to say that has not been said, but that the Orcs will continue to turn the wheel of the dead, be it for a noble or ignoble cause."

Corallium, had not missed the challenging gaze in her direction from Revan Thanatos as he decided to take the lead of the meeting from her. Men! None of them could handle when a woman was in control, be they mortals or the Gods themselves. Revan, for now, would be dealt with later at Corallium's own pleasure.

She filed her nails in boredom as she listened to them all prattle on about Orc's and Arabella's temple. It seemed quite simple to her. Why were they only targeting Lady Love's Temples?

Of course, she called them all idiots but she couldn't truly believe they were all that unintelligible to just jump to shedding blood without questioning why this was happening. For the Moderators sake! Not even creatures as stupid as Orc's did things for no real reason at all!

“I have to agree with the Triumvirate to a certain degree.” Coral spoke, yet she did not look up from the task of shaping her nails. “Orc's will be Orc's. And before you raise your armies Athena dearest and begin your senseless slaughter, I think you are forgetting to actually address the issue at hand.”

She stopped to examine her work on her fingernails and then finally looked up to her audience.

“Pray tell, why are the Orc's solely targeting Lady Love here's temples? Though they are being's of chaos, they do have some sense. It seems to me they have an issue with dear Lady Love.” Coral turned her head to face the Goddess in question “Why Arabella, you're suppose to be all about the Love, it's not fair that it only be bestowed to a select few of your choosing, mainly your little Elves.” Corallium scoffed “I mean to think if the rest of us were to be so selfish and choose favorites, how would Lorgaine ever run?”

Smiling sweetly, she went back to doing her nails.

“I believe the issue is one that Lady Love must address herself.” Corallium said in a no nonsense voice. “Obviously the Orc's are trying to get her attention. Either she is blind or just refuses through her own ignorance to even give them an audience. The matter is not of letting a few murders pass, the matter is getting to the core of the issue, which is only in Arabella's hands if she so wishes to deal with it.”

The nail file disintegrated in Coral's fingers as she peered up again and leaned slightly in Arabella's direction. Her pure golden braceletted hand sliding across the table close to where Arabella's hand lay stopping a mere few inches away.

“Of course, I could always make things easier and see what it is they want from you.” Corallium teased darkly, knowing any second now Arabella would understand what she meant and pull her hand away as if it was in the middle of a burning fire.

Who said that the Gods weren't fun . . .

Librus thinks for a moment. Yes, it was all just one violent mess, but a thought occurred to him. Maybe it was time to change his view, for the sake of his followers. No, not accept war and bloodshed or support it fully. Just grudgingly bear it and drop hints to those who fight the terror. The Immortals had their points, that Orcs couldn't be changed in an instant. They would continue their slaughter no matter what. But, he did like Athena's idea. Protectors, knights that would protect weaker mortals. Mortals like his Catalogers. An idea strikes him.

"Lady War, I have something to add to your proposal. While I still hate to aid in this violent matter, my Catalogers come first. If this Knight Order you suggest comes to be, I will instruct my followers to give them schematics and recipes for improved metals and devices to aid them in their objective. They are a great force, but physically they are weak. So, I suppose I, grudgingly, support this matter. However, the Triumvirate make a point. We can never really guarantee safety to the mortals. It is in the Orcs' blood to destroy, and destroy they will. More or less, this Knight Order would serve as a buffer. And those who join will most likely die." Librus states matter-of-factly. The stern expression on his face shows how much he detested the idea of leading some mortals to the slaughter for the sake of others, but like he said, his Catalogers came first in his mind.

Darkness had a way of consuming joy, devouring happiness and gorging it's self on pleasure. There were few as saturated by darkness as Revan Thanatos so for him to smile in pure pleasure as he was at this moment was a rarity of the ages. His smile was brought on by the words and accompanying sentiment of Lady Fate. She spoke with a clarity of mind he rarely heard in use by his celestial kin. She was a realist, one who understood how the world worked. She did not try and cram it into her preconceived notions of what she thought the world should be. Revan believed himself to be like this. He reacted to what was placed before him and dealt with it with absolute finality. This is what Corallium was doing now. She was being presented with a problem and crafting a logical solution with the facts presented to her.

"Well now..."

Revan said darkly as he strolled across the room, the faint sound of the chirping of bats could be heard as his cloak rustled behind him.

"Aren't you the surpise Lady Fate. Leave the mortals to their vices and hold those who are responsible to deal with the reprecussions... impressive."

Revan said as he paused at her side and gave her something of a warm nod before turning to stare coldly into Arabella's eyes.

"Tell us then prevair of innocence. Does the knowledge that your refusal to reward the orcs your blessings depress you? Is it difficult to swallow that all these deaths fall at your feet? Your precious followers damned do to their patrons selfishness. The same bloodshed you damn me, or Athena or even the orcs themselves for have now been comitted by your hands. Innocence is short lived it seems if it ever existed at all."

Athena acknowledged the facts that had been stated by her fellow immortals. The Orcs were Orcs. If they put them on the other end of the world they would make an armada and sail over just to set things on fire. Build an indestructible wall too separate them from the world and they'll go over and under it to do what they've always done, bash the skulls of whomever they'd please. She also greatly appreciated the support she was getting from Librus and even Revan fancied the idea. Deep down she also was happy that things were being done orderly and civilly. It was a much needed change from the usual nonsense that would occur in these meetings. Why Corallium was even contributing! Perhaps the (countless and long) lectures she had given the Goddess of Fate had stuck after all.

"It seems that Coral is no longer a pup. Good on you girl.". Athena stated this while lifting her goblet. This then followed by the Goddess taking another small sip of her mead. Lady War enjoyed the drink, it had such a rich taste, but it was all soiled in an instant. The shock Athena got from Revan's flurry of insulting accusations directed towards Arabella caused her to nearly choke on her drink. It may be his job to punish those who committed wrong but there was a process. A clear cut step by step of how this was done and it did not involve humbling the accused before they had been proven guilty.

The whole thing caused Athena's blood to boil. In an instant the Lady of War stood between Arabella and Revan, shield in one arm and her hand gripping the hilt of her now unsheathed sword. There was rage in her eyes and these eyes met the cold stare that he intended for the fair Lady of Love.

"If I were in your shoes, Lord Revan...I would find firmer footing for those accusations or I'll cut out that viper snake you call a tongue.".

Revan stared now at the fully armed warrior goddess standing between him and Arabella. So full of rage and fiery indignation she was, a lesser god would tremble at the sight of her. Revan Thanatos was no such lesser god. Nay if anything he was tired, he felt at times that he was older by generations than his peers. Their youthful passions irritated him to no end. His eyes narrowed on the naked blade before him. It shined brilliantly in the splendid hall of the gods. Her shield in the other hand she looked ready to dive into the fray.

This show of force by Athena coupled with her sharp words served only to illicit a deep, wicked chuckle to roll out of Revan's throat as if he was looking at an overzealous pup growling at a wolf.

"Calm yourself child, this is not the place for combat between immortals. If you want to be embarrassed in front our fellows I shall oblige you elsewhere, not here."

Revan took a bold step toward her as he eyed her with disgust.

"I expect more for you Athena. You are a goddess, act like it."

With that Revan turned away from her and strode back to the table where he lifted a goblet that magically filled itself with blood red wine.

"Let us not forget why we are here. To reinforce unity among our kind, not allow ruffled feathers to draw immortal blood as we squabble like children."

Indeed, let's play nicely.” Corallium said coltishly.

Then again, maybe it would be more fun to let Revan Thanatos loose on Athena.

One it would be more then a little entertaining. Two, she greatly disliked the brutish woman who thought it was her inherent right to lecture Coral on the rights and wrongs of their creed; she who killed men, women and children alike all in the name of War. Athena was the biggest hypocrite here! And three, Coral did not take kindly to being referred to as a Dog. Yes, she was younger then most here, in fact she was probably the youngest amongst all the Elders. However, it did not make her inferior in anyway, though it seemed Athena's constant quest to humble Corallium so in front of their kin.

She had a feeling it was because of the fact that Coral was half mortal. A fact many of the Gods still thought a rumor; too afraid to ask Corallium to her face the words were whispered and reached Coral's ears nonetheless. She did not feel a need to answer any of their questions unless she saw fit. Their fear and intimidation on the other hand pleased her greatly.

She turned her attention back to Revan who was nursing a grail of that disgusting putrid liquid they had the gall to call wine.

“Your surprise insult me greatly, Lord Justice.”

Corallium replied offhandedly not really caring what he had said to her. She was just glad he had moved away from her. That incessant light squawking of Bats was driving her insane, every time he moved the slightest. A second longer and she would have ripped that damn cloak off his back and thrown it to the floor in a ball of fire that would have turned to ash before it hit the floor.

“Do not judge me by the standards you set for yourself.”

She added smiling sweetly as she did so, before she continuing. It was all well and good and rather enjoyable to watch these two battle with their lips but unless anything physical went down, it was all a waste of time and just dragging this arduous affair out even longer then it was bloody well necessary. Corallium wanted this damn thing over with as soon as possible and she still had to have words with Revan Thanatos before she could even leave.

“Now.” Corallium stated addressing her Court again as she straightened in her seat at the head of the table. “Does anyone have any other pointless suggestions or can we move onto the next matter at hand? Does anyone else have a dire problem that they feel they must share with the rest of us?”

Dear Moderator! Corallium hoped not!

"Did you expect more, Vengeful One? Civil debate rarely happens on these occasions." Librus says, voice ever so lightly lined with venom. He was on the side of Arabella. She didn't outright say she wanted every Orc dead. She simply stated what she thought was best for her people. It may not have been a complete thought, but she cared for those that followed her. Revan and the others were simply fools who disliked the calmer, kinder spheres Arabella governed. To suddenly call Lady Love a cold-hearted killer was like branding a sheep an ox. The two were complete opposites. But, what irritated Librus the most was the fact that Revan thought himself leader of this gathering, acting like he is trying to keep it orderly. Each and every Immortal there knew things couldn't be civil long at these meetings. "Accusations like you make are sure to ruffle feathers. Think about what you say, and such things won't happen." Librus snaps at Revan. The Justice God's dark past and strength did not scare him. Especially not in a place like this.

So early in, and things were already going to turn into rolling argument. Librus' goggles turn and click, signifying his annoyance. "Now, we've discussed one solution to the problem. If that's all we have, then I suggest we move on to a different topic as well. This isn't going anywhere." Librus suggests to his peers, seconding Corallium's suggestion.

Librus' bony joints ached from frustration. Looks like things haven't changed in a thousand years.

Arabella became enraged. She had not wanted to be outright insulted. She iris' turned black again but seemed to glow red. She clenched her hand into a fist as Lady Fate slided her hand next to her own. Arabella slammed her hand on the table and stood over the Goddess, keeping her hand where it was. "I do not want your input Corallium! If you hurt my people I..." She sighed and calmed herself, as she gave the Goddess a smile. "I don't have time for your childs play, young Goddess." She turned her head away from Lady Fate and looked at Revan. "And I did not say I wanted them all killed. In fact, I have not played favorites upon any people. It has come to my attention that you all don't seem to grasp what I do. Without my powers over the people of Lorgaine, there would not be any further reproduction of any species. And as you can tell there is no greater population of any of the main species put on the planet. I could have driven them all into hopeless depressions and they would become hopeless and abysis' of nothingness but I decided to try and give them my blessings." She sighed and held her head quite irritated.

Arabella still standing put her hand up to everyone. "Now, I did not mean to cause any further debate on whether or not I am a pointless Immortal at this gathering, but I was only stating my concerns for ALL the people of Lorgaine. Besides I am a much more...lenient woman. Even after one horde of those Orc's slaughtered my dear Pegasus..." Her eyes flickered from black to yellow as she was quite saddened by the fact she had lost one of her horses, but soon it returned to her serious black. She mentally thanked Librus with a nod at siding with her.

"And Revan...I am not a killer. I hate bloodshed...it makes me weak and exhausted. I have only one purpose and that is to help keep my people, including the Orc's in check and make sure that there actions do not combat with my job. Besides, if you are the Justice God, shouldn't you be seeking justice for the many lives the Orcs have taken away from not only the elves but the humans as well? They need vengence, especially for the many who grieve and mourn for their lost ones. My powers only go so far to help mend a wounded heart." She bowed her head and closed her eyes as they turned into a blue again, back to normal. "So, Revan, God Justice and Vengence...what say you in YOUR defense..." She finally sat down in her seat staring at him seriously.
