Description

Image
Mutter

Race: White witch; Corrupted Healer; Devourer.
Full name: Her real name is Ada Victoria Jurgend, but she prefers to be called "Mutter" (moot-er) or"Mutti" (moo-tee) for short.
Age: N/A. Looks to be in her fifties, but is definitely older (some speculate her to be 120!).

LOOKS
Height and Weight: 5'7", 120 lbs.
Complexion: The Fade did not change the pale peach of her skin. Oddly, face not wrinkled from age.
Body Type/Health: Petite, fragile looking with no visible curves. Though her body seems vital, her health is deteriorating ā€“ near death.
Facial features: Broad, attractive face. Petal-like lips, sharp nose, feathered brows and high cheekbones.
Distinguishing marks: Her face and neck are not affected by her Fade, but her whole entire body is scarred with boils of different shapes and sizes, pregnant with green puss.
Apparent Temperament: She seems like a sweet and nice lady.
Hair and eyes: A short bob ā€“ chestnut colour streaked with strands of gray. Gray eyes flaked with small spots of brown and blue.
Casual wardrobe: Covered from head to toe in big tunics and dresses. Her hands are always gloved with cotton gloves. There are NO bare spots on her body.
ACTION TIME wardrobe: Black leather one piece suit with sewn in gloves and a slick leather coat over her shoulders.

PERSONALITY

I seem like a nice person? Indeed. Seem is the right word for it...

Though Ada projects a facade of a lovely granny, there is always something lurking behind her eyes. She controls her true feelings with ease and rarely loses her temper. There had been instances when she did get angry and all of them ended tragically (SEE CRIMINAL RECORD). She is calculating and sly.

Speech: She has a low, drawling voice thatā€™s flowered with interjections of ā€œdearā€ and ā€œdarlingā€. A faint German accent is always present.

Pet Peeves: You will never find her without knitting needles in her hands. Her hands are constantly working over the yarn loops and patterns. She is also very sweet around children (WARNING! SEE CRIMINAL RECORD).

EQUIPMENT
Pager, medication (pills), cigarettes and knitting tools (needles and wool). Also she has a variety of plants growing in her apartment- some are quite deadly. She uses these (and her body fluids) to make special draughts.

LIFE
Favorite color: Green.
Hobbies: Knitting, gardening and tending to her plants.

Fears:
She fears death, drowning and is allergic to silver. Her drowning fears spurt from an accident at the age of four when she fell into a well. She has a strange allergic reaction around silver ā€“ her teeth start to hurt and the boils on her body itch more than usual.

Excerpt from interrogation tape, 12th of November 1985., The Board Of Supernatural and Paranormal Citizens of The U.S.A. (B.O.S.P.C.)

"ā€œI had this dream, a few years ago. I can still remember it clearly. Someone was chasing me. It was dark and cold and I was running through an empty alley. I donā€™t know how, but I knew it was a man after me. He was trying to get me. To torture me. To destroy me. After a long time of running I was suddenly trapped. There were brick walls everywhere. And him, behind me. - (PAUSE)
He took a knife from his belt and he sliced at my eyes. And then he cut my nose off. And I felt every single nerve in these wounds scream at me: ā€œWake up!ā€ but I didnā€™t. Not for a long time. And then I was dead. I was propelled into the sky and I saw myself on the floor...There was so much blood. When I woke up I ran to my mirror to see if my face was still there.
Laugh if you will: -ā€œOld fool, dreaming such a common dreamā€. But I swear that it was real. And he still is trying to kill me. I know he is.ā€

Agenda: Cancer doesnā€™t spare anyone, not even the supernatural beings of Earth. Ada is suffering from stomach cancer. Because she is a witch, the symptoms are not as severe as they usually are, but the pain is still horrible. She is at a point where she eats only liquidated food. She does not want to die. And sheā€™ll do whatever she has to continue living.

What guarantees the fact that you'll stick around?: Ebenezer entered Adaā€™s life when she was about to give up all hope of ever getting better. He has promised her a cure ā€“ whether this is true or not, Ada doesnā€™t seem to care. Currently, itā€™s the only silver lining she has and she is going to follow it.

Day job: Retired. She used to run her very own bakery on Third Street. Ironically, the name of said place was ā€œHansel and Gretelā€. It was a very good way to cover up her activities. (Un)fortunately, a lot of her pastry consumers died away and so did her business. From time to time she takes up a side-job (SEE CRIMINAL RECORD).

Where they hail from: Munich (?), Germany

How they became what they are: Not a lot is known about Adaā€™s birth. She is definitely from Germany and is related to Frau Totenkinder, one of the most notorious Devourer witches ever to have existed (she has boasted about this a few times).
When she wants to put on a show, she tells her audience that her father is Satan himself and that her mother sacrificed herself on an altar, where she crawled out of the soil soaking with her motherā€™s blood (the B.O.S.P.C. has still not verified this information. Further investigation is under way).
It is known that she comes from a great line of female witches, but when the manifestation of her powers came to be, no one knows. One thing for sure, she has been a witch for a very long time. In the beginning, she was a healer, a very good one at that and she helped out the German soldiers in WWII. After that, she changed. She started experimenting with the dark side of witchcraft. When she came to America in 1977 she was already notorious in Europe and her reputation also quickly caught on in the States.
Since then she has been living in the shadows, coming to the surface every once in a while with some vile crime on her hands.

Article by Adam Wilkenfeld, July 1979.

"Andrew Bowey arrived home from work one day to find an empty house. His children were gone and he started to fear the worst. "Nothing else to describe it really - panic, you panic. [You think], when am I going to see my children again? Where are they?
Eleven months later there is still no trace of Katie (9) and Lee (5).
ā€œI canā€™t give up hope that theyā€™re still out there.ā€ Andrew is sure that someone has abducted his children. ā€œI donā€™t know who did it. But that person has no heart. He has no soul. He is a monster."

Notable experiences since then: N/A.

Opinion of the others: Indifferent to the rest of the crew (still hasnā€™t been in contact with them). She has mixed feelings about Ebenezer. It is not trust or respect that she fells, but a deep sense of fear that he might trick her if she does the wrong move.

Criminal Record:
Ada has destroyed many lives and has taken a fair amount of them, too. It is speculated that she (is?) was a Devourer, a witch who lures children and then eats them. Her most recent crimes are connected to the disappearances of Joyce Mills (23), Frank Lisbaum (19), Desi Arnaz (17) and Ariel Sharon (20).

18th of February 1988.

Adriana Howard squirmed on the green velvety couch seat. She was a big, blotchy faced girl with stringy blond hair and a pretty mouth. She kept pulling her sleeves over her fingers, twisting her head to take in the whole room. It was a very green room. Potted plants sprouted on every windowsill, on the desk by the kitchen entrance and in every corner. A little cactus stood on the beechen coffee table in front of her and she lightly tapped her finger against the tiny needles. The sofa across from her was also a mint green and the carpet covering most of the floor was the color of forest moss. Only the walls were a stainless white.
Though it was around 3 PM and the sun licked the room with a warm fuzzy light, Adriana felt terribly cold. She looked toward the kitchen, listening to the soft tinkle of china and the shuffling of feet.
"Miss Jurgend?"She called. "You don't have to do that."
"Nonsense, my dear," Ada said as she appeared in the doorway, holding a full tray in her gloved hands. She briskly walked to the coffee table and she placed the tray in front of the girl. "I enjoy having a cup of tea at this time of day. And please dear, do call me Mutti."
She served Adriana first, offered her some cookies on a small plate which she kindly refused and then poured herself a cup. She sat back into the sofa, balancing her tea on the china plate. Adriana glanced at her tea. The china was paper-thin and the light illuminated the steaming cup and the brown liquid inside. She saw pieces of twigs and leaves swirl on the bottom. This put her off. She wasnā€™t going to touch her cup.
"So, darling,"Ada said, pinching the delicate cup handle between her fingers, "how can I help you?"
Adriana looked up into her smiling face. It was sweet and kind; a face that you usually saw on fairy godmothers or grandmothers in movies.
"Iā€™m not sure how to put this."She answered hoarsely.
"Well, what did you have in mind? Do you need help? I do love giving good advice to young women such as yourself."
Adriana hesitated for a moment and said: "Mary told me about you."
Something happened then. A faint movement swept over the womanā€™s face. It was quick and the girl hardly noticed it before it was replaced by the kind mask from before.
"I see. You want someone taken care of." Her voice was deeper, more menacing.
"Itā€™s my boyfriend - well, my ex-boyfriend. We havenā€™t been getting along for some time now and yesterday he left me for this other girl from junior class. I didnā€™t see it coming. I donā€™t know what went wrong. He hit me."
Adaā€™s eyes slanted.
"And you want me toā€¦?ā€
ā€œI want to see him dead.ā€
ā€œHow painful do you want it to be?ā€
ā€œAs painful as you can make it."

Ada smiled and took a sip from her cup.
She suddenly reached over with her free hand and patted the girls knee. She felt her recoil impulsively and this sent a jolt of pleasure rushing through her.
"No worries, dearie," she said as she retreated. "Heā€™ll be dead by Saturday."
After the girl left Ada sat in her chair for hours. She sipped from her cup once or so and sat motionless as a stone statue. When the orange sun started falling behind the buildings she got up slowly, placed all of the utensils back onto the tray and carried it into the kitchen. She put the tray down onto the spotless counter top next to her sink and turned to the refrigerator.
It was a big towering thing, the color of a faded pistachio. Ada had tacked on its doors pamphlets, a column sharing tips for baking sugared cookies, a withering picture of a cottage sitting next to a sparkling river and a thinning TO DO list flowered with small orange frogs. Ada grabbed a pencil from the top of the fridge and jotted down FRANK LISBAUM 12 LONDON STREET and then went to do the laundry, whistling a happy tune.

Etc:: When you look at it, Ada seems a very dull woman. She abhors television and computers and her book case holds only twenty books or so. However, Ada is an avid opera fan. She has been to the Wagnerian Bayreuth Festspielhaus three times, an opera house that is almost impossible to get a seat without a minimal of ten years prior reservation, and at the Bolshoi opera in Russia twice, one of the oldest and greatest opera houses in the world.
You will never find her drinking, but she likes to light a cigarette when she's stressed.

Specialty: Poison and acid generation. Poiton maker. Biological transformation. She also has some form of mind control.
Ada is a master when it comes to poisoning people. Her body naturally produces its toxins. Her blood, her saliva and the puss in her boils are all laced with a different amount of poison. She can transform from a little old lady into a disgusting being that looks very similar to a toad. In this form her skin turns a horrible yellow, her mouth widens to her ears and she can spit acid. Her limbs turn springy and rubbery. Her eyes take a poisonous green hue to them and she has more agility and speed. Noted, she canā€™t stay in this form too long (circa. half an hour after which she needs plenty of rest).
She is also capable of feeling other peopleā€™s feelings if she exerts herself. Her mind controlling skills do not work on every one.

Fetish: Adaā€™s fetish consists of 15 small hand carved skulls made out of wood the size of nickels. She holds them in a small pouch tied around her neck with a leather string.

Familiar: Toads and frogs. She takes poison samples from her little friends and her toad-like transformation seems to be connected to them. Other than that, she has no control over her familiars.

Social standing: She is feared in the witch realm. She is not one of the more well-known crowds, but in the realm they know who she is and they stay clear from her.

Social stealth: Ada is one of the rarer, luckier witches who can still blend in with the crowd. It is only very awkward to walk in the summer covered from head to toe in long- sleeved shirts and gloves. When she canā€™t go outside because of this or because the pain in her stomach is too much to bear, she has an errand boy who lives down the hall from her apartment.

BENEFITS FROM THE RACE
  • - Though she might be old in human years and suffering from a fatal disease, Adaā€™s body is very agile and youth-like.
  • - She is shrewd and clever. Quite a bitch witch, indeed.
  • - She is very good at making potions and concoctions. She might be a corrupted healer, but she still knows how to mend a bone or two.

WEAKNESSES FROM THE RACE
  • - The painful tightness of the boils can sometimes keep her awake for hours.
  • - Her sense of smell is slowly deteriorating; a horrible affliction when one is a potion maker.
  • - Dying of cancer, though at a slower rate.

So begins...
