Family Life:
Thylane was born in Aix-en-Provence, a city commune in the south of France, to Patrick Blondeau and Véronika Loubry. Four years after she was born, her parents had another child, Ayrton-Romeø Blondeau. Her father was a professional soccer player, and her mother dabbled in acting, fashion and photography. While the Blondeaus were never poor, it is worth noting that Thylane wasn't raised in a family that was filthy rich. Combined, her parents' net worths were worth a couple million dollars, and given their spending habits, they fell into the class of people who constantly had to work to maintain their lifestyle. Neither of her parents could be considered celebrities, as they were never superstars in their field of work, so in regards to that, Thylane's childhood was normal. Her parents were her parents, and they were never important enough to be chased by paparazzi to an extent where she would see their jobs as being any different from a businessman or a nurse.

What set Thylane's childhood apart from most was that her mother lived through her vicariously... and to an extreme. The woman had always had an obsession with fame and recognition, and once she decided that she would be unable to reach stardom herself, she turned her focus of that on to her daughter. Thylane was thrust into the world of modelling at age four, when she began walking in runway shows. From then on, it seemed like any and every photo shoot or modelling opportunity that was offered to her, her mother accepted. By the time that she was seven, it became apparent that the schedule that her mother wanted her to have would not coincide with the public school schedule she had, so she was pulled from school and homeschooled. At first, Thylane found modelling to be a bit boring, but it wasn't something that she hated. She was young enough to believe every word that her mother said, about how she was going to be so famous some day, that they wouldn't even be able to walk into the supermarket without seeing her face on magazines. Everyone would know her, and everyone would love her. What child would disagree with the idea that being loved was a good thing? And so she went to the photo shoots, and didn't ask about why all of their neighbors had time to run and play outside while her mother was forcing her to be still for more head shots, and things were fine for a few years.

She had been doing well as a child model for those years, yes, but her big "break" came at the age of ten, when she was booked to shoot for Vogue. At ten years old, she was still an innocent child. The idea of dressing up and putting on fancy clothes and makeup that was excessive for a child only seemed fun for her, like she was playing dress up. With her mother in her ear, telling her that she looked like a princess ready to star in the next Disney movie, the idea of the shoot only excited her. When she actually started shooting, though, she was far less enthused. It was basically an adult shoot, with the way that she was dressed and made up. The makeup artists and stylists were used to working with adults, and while many of them were nice, it was a new and scary experience for Thylane. Throw in the fact that her mother was off schmoozing, no where to be found for the majority of it, and she felt absolutely alone. That was why, when one of the production assistants for the shoot took her into a side room, claiming that he needed someone to touch up her makeup, and he molested her instead, she had no one there to stop it. And it petrified her, just as one would expect. She told her mother as soon as they left the shoot, and while one would imagine a loving parent would immediately call the police (or make a u-turn and go and kill the person themselves), Véronika did quite the opposite. She claimed that Thylane was lying, that she was being dramatic and making up stories. She started crying about all of the hard work that she had put into her daughter's career, how much she had sacrificed for her and how much of her attention she "stole" compared to her brother, and she told Thylane that if she repeated the "lie" to her father, she would destroy their family. It was a horrific position for a ten year old to be in, especially given that she was expected to return back to the shoot the next day for the final day of shooting. She knew that what had happened to her was not normal, and that she wasn't lying or being dramatic, but she also was petrified of the idea of destroying her own family, and so she apologized and kept her mouth quiet for the rest of the weekend.

Following that photo shoot, however, her interest in modelling dwindled quickly. She didn't like the idea of touching up, or posing for photos. She didn't want people to look at her anymore, nonetheless touch her, and of course, this enraged her fame-hungry mother. Thylane participated in a handful of forced photo shoots after the Vogue campaign, but she was lucky that by the time she was really hitting her breaking point, the Vogue shoot (1, 2, 3)was published, and the amount of controversy it caused brought a firestorm of critics upon her mother. Their adult voices spoke criticism that her silenced, ten-year-old one could not, and among those critics was her own father, who had remained as distant from the modelling his daughter partook in as possible. He had no idea what his wife was getting her involved in, and seeing his daughter published in photos online that were attracting hoards of pedophile men making lude comments was what led to a lot of animosity between he and his wife, and eventually, their divorce.

Their was never a custody war between her parents, and after her daughter "sabotaged" their family, Veronika was content with her daughter living with her father, while she kept custody of their son. Thylane's father eventually moved to New York, where he obtained a business job after ending his soccer career. She's been living with his in New York since she was thirteen years old, and it's a move she hasn't regretted for a second. Although she's escaped that life she used to have, the internet exists, and it drives her mad to think that all it takes is one google search for her past to continue to haunt her. Maybe had she not had to experience the firsthand horrors of the child modelling world, she wouldn't feel so bitter about it, but that one day was all it took to damage her for life. She kept one promise to her mother, and that was to never repeat that she was molested, but had her father tried to leave her in the custody of her mother, and Thylane knows that she would have had to tell him, just as a final, desperate plea to keep him from leaving her there.

Academic Career:
Thylane was admitted to Constance Billard for her academic testing scores. She is a full scholarship student.

Future Plans:
She just recently got American citizenship, after living here on only a green card, so she's excited to remain in the states for the foreseeable future. She definitely plans on attending a university in the country, and though she adores New York and many of the schools here, she's also considering studying in California or Florida. The exact school, and the exact major, are unconfirmed details at the moment.

Personality:
Words most often used to describe Thylane would probably be quiet, intelligent, thoughtful and curious. Growing up, she had always been more exuberant and friendly than she is now. She was very free-spirited and innocent in that sense, where she didn't care about watering down her personality for the sake of others comfort. It was something she grew out of (or was maybe even forced out of), once she realized that the real world wasn't filled with rainbows and butterflies and cupcakes. She lost a bit of innocence around this time, and though she's not the human version of Eeyore, she's definitely more reserved now than she was as a child. Silence is more comforting to her than words, a lot of the time, and she finds it unnecessary, and even difficult, to make conversation with people she doesn't know. With her friends, she isn't silent though. She does know how to talk and have fun, and when it comes down to it, she's actually very good at listening and giving advice to people. What stands true though, regardless of who she's with, is that she's not someone who would ever be described as outgoing or as a social butterfly.

Though her childhood was centered around her modelling career, Thylane did very well being homeschooled as well. The major reason for this, probably, was that her homeschool teacher was not her mother, but additionally, Thylane is naturally intelligent. She excelled as a child, and continues to do very well academically. She's fluent in both English and French, and has a penchant for math and science courses. Numbers make sense to her. She likes things like that, that take little thought. There's only one right answer, and that's it. It something that fits the mindset she lives in in her everyday life, too, because she despises the tendency that she has to overthink things. She doesn't mind hearing about other people's complex lives and their drama, but she doesn't like it in her own life. She likes things that are straight forward and easy to understand without analyzing or taking other people's feelings into account. It's a strange switch she has, where she actually enjoys getting her fix of emotion out of hearing about other people's problems and offering them advice, while she denies emotion in her own life.

Hobbies:
She's taken on baking as a recent hobby. She's no master chef, that's for sure, but she likes trying new recipes. Aside from that, she has no obsessions or major hobbies, but she loves spending time exploring New York. She's lived here for four years, and yet she still feels like she hasn't seen half of the city.

Bad Habits:
Isolating herself, cutting people off for small reasons, waiting too close to the edge of the platform for the subway

Likes:
Exploration, trying new foods, baking, Netflix, performers on the Subway and streets, her father and brother, the outdoors, math, dogs, skiing, Starbucks

Dislikes:
Elevators, boats, rainy days, people who follow trends just because they're popular and not because they really like them, when men touch her without permission, when her mother calls

Sydney didn't have a chance to respond to Vincent because of Katherine's sudden presence, and though she was initially turned off, or at least uninterested, in the prospect of socializing with someone who was so below her, like Thylane, just seeing Katherine had Sydney smiling instantly. Especially over the last year or so, Katherine had turned into a very hot and cold person. One minute she was overflowing with happiness, and the next, she was on the verge of writing her suicide note and blaming everyone who had ever crossed paths with her in it. Sydney was not the warmest person either, so that certainly played a role in her perceiving Katherine to be emotionally unstable and hard to deal with, but either way, the bouts of negative emotional periods that Kat seemed to experience more frequently lately, only made Sydney appreciate it more when her friend's true colors showed through. Sydney was not dumb though, and so she was sure that alcohol had played a role in Katherine's costume choice, and probably her behavior now too, but she knew what a drunk Kat looked like, and this wasn't it. Given the texts that Katherine had overwhelmed her with this morning, Sydney could safely assume that Katherine had to have been drinking earlier in the day in order to get over the roadblock of hating her costume at the last minute. She wouldn't shoot down the idea that Kat had continued to drink since then, but she also knew her friend's tolerance level, and doubted that Katherine would be able to see straight if she had been drinking from mid afternoon straight until now. If Sydney had to guess, Katherine probably had a little bit of pre-gaming alcohol left in her system that was keeping her confidence up just enough to not have her reevaluating her costume choice and her words, but not enough to really allow Sydney to classify her as being drunk.

Although Katherine said a lot at once, Sydney opted to go her own way with the conversation, because she couldn't stop grinning, on the verge of actually laughing, at the sight of Katherine. Make no mistake, Katherine looked good. Sexy, even. But that wasn't to say that it wasn't a very odd sight coming from someone who knew her very well. Katherine was... traditional, in a sense. She was set in her ways, and set in believing that only certain things were appropriate, and others weren't. It was why there were so many things that came out of her mouth regularly that were politically incorrect or just cringe-worthy in other ways, and yet, Sydney was usually about to chalk it up to Katherine just being ignorant, not necessarily intolerant. Though she couldn't recall any specific comments from Katherine on a subject like this, at least within their close friend group, it was known that Kat wasn't someone who spoke about sex regularly. She actually seemed quite uncomfortable by it being brought up, and Sydney was well aware that Kat had little experience in anything sexual. Just looking at Kat, no one would really expect that, given how pretty she really was, but obviously, there were issues that Katherine was dealing with internally that prevented her from wanting to involve herself in that. And Sydney could respect that, to a degree at least, but with all of that said, it was obviously pretty shocking that Katherine would do a complete switch-up and not only dress up as something sex-related, but also something that still had a fairly taboo connotation on it. "Oh my God, your costume!" was the best way to put how Sydney initially reacted to Kat's getup, though it is necessary to note that she said it in amused approval.

Vincent wasn't important at all, and so his response to her was appropriately ignored, though she was a bit annoyed that he really thought he could continue to stand with them. "Guess what I am!" she exclaimed, surprisingly expressing excitement over worry and self-doubt over Sydney's reaction.

It was petty, but in a similar way that Katherine was purposely ignoring Vincent, in favor of making a point that he wasn't wanted there, Sydney was happy to turn slightly, so that she and Kat's body language spoke to how they were having a one on one conversation, and that Thylane, in particular, wasn't welcome in it. Why Sydney had it out for her, was still something that was up for debate, and normally she didn't pay the girl much mind, but if Sydney noticed her presence, she did sometimes find herself irrationally bothered by it. "I know what you are. I'm just concerned that you don't know what you are, because the Katherine Arnault that I know would never show up to a Halloween party dressed like a dominatrix that fell straight out of one of these boys' wildest fantasies," she said, only shifting slightly, to include Clifford and Vincent back in their little circle once again, at their reference.

"Of course I know what I am! Thylane thought of it, and at first I was like 'um... no' but then I thought about it and I didn't have any better options, and now I totally love it." In exchange for releasing her grip on Sydney's arm, she reached over to clasp Thylane's hand at her mention of the girl.

"That makes more sense. So Kat dressing like this came right out of one of your wildest fantasies," Sydney said, deadpanning Thylane as she tilted her head to the side slightly, allowing a small smile to creep onto her face as if to say, "yeah, I went there". In reality, Sydney knew nothing to make any evidence-based statements about Thylane's sexuality, or her relationship with Katherine. It literally was just an attempt on her part to be mean and make Thylane feel uncomfortable, especially since she was surrounded by people who Sydney felt were of a higher social standing than her, and who weren't as close with Thylane as Sydney was with them. No one would step in to defend her, and that was just how Sydney wanted it.

Ricardo's arrival came just in time for Katherine to miss what Sydney said to Thylane. The arm sliding around her was enough of a distraction that she missed Sydney's unnecessarily biting words, and instead, and probably surprisingly again, she smiled at Ricardo. "Why thank you, Ricky," Katherine beamed, before looking to the others as if to say "I told you so" even though no one had said anything bad about her outfit. "See, at least someone here knows creativity and sex appeal when they see it," she stated. His comment about Alex made her smile once more. "She's a perfect perfectionist and I love her for it," she insisted, letting go of Thylane only then, to pull out her phone to text the birthday girl herself, though she ended up sending the messages in their group chat.

"If Rick says you have sex appeal, then I guess we all have to take his word for that. Among other things, he is the king of sex appeal, now isn't that true, baby?" Sydney said, being very playful in her tone, though there was no denying that Ricardo was definitely a ten out of ten, even on his bad days. He was an equal to her, that much Sydney would admit, and sometimes, it was fun entering that territory... this playfully flirtatious territory... if only just to test the waters. As her phone in her pocket vibrated with what felt like a million new messages, she read Alex's and then the ones that Kat was sending in the group chat, and opting to ignore Katherine for the time being, since she was standing right beside her, she answered Alex.

To: Alex
Honestly... I don't know. She doesn't seem drunk in person, really. Maybe a little tipsy. Once you see her outfit, you'll agree with me that there's definitely some amount of alcohol in her, because let's just say that it's definitely not a typical Kat costume, but she honestly just seems happy and excited. Which is a nice change I guess? Idk, and you know not knowing makes me stress, so speed it up with whatever you're doing up there!

Clifford wouldn't have bet against Vincent's guess on where Ricardo was and what he was doing, but even if he wanted to, Sydney came over before he could counter the idea. As always, she looked absolutely stunning. There wasn't a single thing out of place with her outfit, and as one could only expect, she pulled off her look flawlessly. That was the thing with Sydney, though. She could have showed up dressed like a garbage can, and somehow, she still would have looked classier, prettier, and just overall more desirable than 99% of the other girls in the room. But she's out of your league, remember that, his mind reiterated, when he caught his eyes staring just a little bit too intently at her barely clothed chest. "Thanks, Syd," he chuckled, as she expressed her approval of his outfit. It was juvenile, but Clifford was sure that any guy, and even girl, who grew up around Sydney would attest to the fact that her approval somehow did make you feel better. Even if you were like Clifford, and liked to think that you controlled your mind fully and weren't susceptible to superficial influences. When she pointed her gun, which he honestly couldn't tell whether it was real or fake, towards Vincent, her words had him smirking, and yet subconsciously, nodding along too. They didn't need drama tonight, and Cliff only wished that Ricardo was here to receive that same little warning.

Clifford found himself stifling back a laugh when Katherine and Thylane joined their trio, and Katherine made it more than clear that she absolutely detested Vincent. He was somewhat aware of this before now, but he had always assumed that Vincent had made peace with Alex's friends to an extent where they could be civil. It wasn't like Katherine and Vincent had never been forced into the same circle since the breakup happened, so part of Clifford suspected that maybe Katherine had some alcohol in her system already, but then again, you never knew with Katherine. She was full of life, and he couldn't put speaking her mind in a way that made someone uncomfortable past her. It was only really funny to Clifford because Vincent was the kind of guy who always acted like he was the most well-liked person in the room (especially in terms of girls' opinions). He could walk over to just about anyone and get a warm greeting from them, so watching him be put in his place, so to speak, by Katherine, deserved a laugh. Her presence brought on a little bit of a mini-group within their group, as she and Sydney seemed to delve into their own one-on-one conversation, and Clifford was on the verge of attempting to strike up a conversation with Thylane (even though she had always seemed a bit cold towards him), when Ricardo made his debut.

Nighthawk. It was a fitting costume for the boy, and Cliff watched intently as he slid an arm around Katherine's shoulder, before Sydney and Katherine seemed to welcome him into the conversation. It was only then, and maybe a few seconds before as Sydney acknowledged Katherine's costume too, that Clifford realized what she was. He would never admit it because he was sure that the boys would ridicule him for not realizing it immediately, but Sydney had stated clearly that apparently, Kat was a dominatrix. Initially, Clifford had honestly just assumed that she was dressed as a goth girl, or something to that degree. This was definitely... unique... to say the least, and for some reason, it had him wanting to laugh again at this version of Katherine's boldness. He didn't dislike it, it was just surprising; amusing, even. "Kat's right, she is a perfect perfectionist, so whatever she's wearing, black or not, you know we're about to be in for something really cool," Cliff added in, only saying so after he reminded himself that it had been Vincent who had agreed that he should consider pursuing Alex harder.

To: Syd
As u wish, ur majesty ;D

Alexandra chuckled as she took in the texts from Katherine and the one from Sydney, rolling her eyes at the former's antics while responding only to the latter. Sydney's text made her shake her head in amusement, a bit of her worry seeping away in favor of curiosity and excitement to get things started. Once seeing Charlotte and Savannah off, Alex had grabbed her phone and took the back stairway to get to the kitchen were the belly dancers had communed. After taking two blood vodka shots to the head, grimacing only slightly at the accompanying sting as the sharp yet fruity liquid slid down her throat. Considering the fact that her only ties to Egypt and the Arabic language included her father, Alex had only decided to include a belly dancing performance for the party in light of a small sequence where Queen Akasha had performed winding movements in the film, very reminiscent to the controlled, precise movements belly dancers in Egypt were known for. And especially considering the queen's past of being from Egypt, Alex had figured that there was no harm in taking a few lessons for the sake of "portraying" the character better. Not that she was really going to be acting much during the night, but again, she never did things in halves. Luckily, despite all of her Oscar-worthy complaints about being fat and having indulged a bit too much during this week or that week, Alex did pay enough special attention to her abdomen to allow it to be cut enough and herself still flexible enough to provide fluid movements for the routine she was a part of. And if anyone happened to feel inclined for judging her for that little bit of research she did for her party - and she was definitely thinking about a certain King of Assholeness - then they could always leave.

They weren't that important, anyway.

Ricky slid into an easy smirk, dropping his arm from Katherine eventually as he stared at Sydney and replied, "And don't you forget it, doll." He would have commented further, particularly about Sydney's costume considering how much he could honestly say that he was enjoying this bolder side of the infamous trio, especially considering how much Sydney was tastefully revealing. However, the beginning sounds of the raqs sharqi routine flooded the room as the original music from the DJ faded out accompanied by the subtle crescendo of cymbals. Laughing lowly to himself, Ricky announced, "Well, now, your perfect perfectionist can show you how extra her perfectionist ass wants to be tonight." He wasn't trying to be particularly negative and Ricky was definitely both interested and supportive of Alexandra's enjoyment of putting on a show. It was one of the reasons why she was one of his favorite girls on the Upper East Side. It just also meant that he was allowed to tease her about it, even when she shot him dirty looks afterwards and told him to fuck off. It was how their relationship worked, after all.

The promenade began with low music, the dancers each gliding out onto the center of the floor only three steps after one another with Alex entering last, a subtle undulation in her hips at each step she took until she was in the center. Side to side her waist went, a continuous wave-like motion that she spent a lot of her private free time perfecting if she managed to still be on her feet, wrists rotating slowly in time to the sensual track the DJ played. Unlike the other dancers (and the one dancer who had yet to enter the room), Alex didn't have finger cymbals but instead, unlit palm torches. In lieu of the succession of hip lifts, drops and twists, the boom-boom rakatak boom rakatak of the baladi rhythm - accented by the dark percussive background of a modern alternative rock song Alex honestly could not put her finger on - followed. Her footwork was purposefully slower than the other dancers, a result of Queen Akasha's slinkier, more seductive character complete with back-bends reminiscent of her gymnastic days followed by an Arabesque. With his eyes still on Alex and the percussive yet fluid movements of the dancers, Ricky didn't catch the reasons behind the "awes" until he noticed the lone dancer venturing out of the entrance they had all come from carrying a fan in each hand, both set ablaze. "Well, this should be interesting," he commented, offhandedly, to the guys.

The folkloric section had kicked in, which explained the whoosh of cool air that hit her upon the other dancers' Khaliji-inspired hair tosses. It also meant that the last dancer, Lateefah, had entered with the fiery fans and despite grinning when she flashed her realistic-looking fangs at the audience, Alex had to belatedly remind herself that, yes, her sashes were fire resistant. She had purposefully made them so. So, she continued to use her arms to frame and accentuate the rapid movement of her hips in time to the music, twirling into low kicks while Lateefah continued to dance with her blazing items, inciting gasps with her Sa’idi kicks. Eventually, in a move that required her to dance with the other woman, Alex's palm torches were lit and she continued, mindful of both of her crown and hair as she spun and winded backwards with a graceful arch in her spine. Soon enough, and thankfully so because she was actually beginning to feel a little winded, their malfouf ending drew near and when the girls were back to surrounding Alexandra in a succession of kneeling positions as if praying to a god, Alex ended the routine with blowing out the flames, once again flashing her fangs at the resounding applause. Ricky chuckled, inspired enough to clap despite how genuinely impressed he actually was with his friend. "At least she didn't burn herself."

"That makes more sense. So Kat dressing like this came right out of one of your wildest fantasies," Sydney had said, and maybe it was dramatic, but the words felt like a punch in the stomach to Thylane. She hated overthinking, but at that, she couldn't help but to think that somehow, Sydney knew. She knew that she had an inappropriate crush on her friend, who was completely straight (as far as she knew), and given Thylane's relationship with Sydney, Sydney was the last person in the world that she would ever want to know (or possibly know) about that. When Thylane first moved to New York and transferred to Constance Billard, she was in an off stage in her life mentally and emotionally, so her guard was definitely up. She did her best to remain as under the radar as possible, and that was why, before she met Katherine, she felt indifferent towards Sydney Persson. She heard things about her that made her seem intimidating, and yet alluring at the same time, but Thylane didn't want anything to do with the spotlight at that point. It was when she began to get closer with Katherine that she learned things about Sydney that made her seem less like a good person, and more like a bully. Katherine seemed to be enthralled by Sydney to an extent that to this day, Thylane still couldn't understand. In Sydney's defense, a lot of that had to do with how Katherine loved to vent to Thylane about the issues within their friend group, so she heard a lot more of the negatives than the positives.

In all honesty, the first time that Thylane had actually ever interacted with Sydney in a respect that was personally offensive and impression-damaging was this past summer. In the wake of feeling guilty over finances, Thylane had very reluctantly offered a small photoshoot gig with H&M. It wasn't anything big, just a few features in their catalog and website, but regardless, the six hour shoot was still grueling for her, simply because she was no longer comfortable with people looking at her. She didn't like her photo being taken; being postured and commanded to do things while everyone stared at her. It would have been bad enough if that had been all that the shoot entailed, but leave it to Thylane's luck to allow Sydney to be there. It wasn't that random, given that Sydney's father was the CEO of H&M and she modeled for the brand as well, but it was safe to say that if Thylane had realized any of that beforehand, there was no way that she would have agreed to participate in it. She gladly would have taken up a job working at an H&M store, instead. The atmosphere of having Sydney watching her doing something she already felt uncomfortable doing, would have been bad enough in itself, but when Thylane overheard Sydney make a comment to someone about how Thylane was "good enough" for catalog ads but there was "no way she would ever make it on the runway", she wanted nothing more than to walk out then and there. Thylane was not the type of person who translated her frustration and anger into wanting to come at Sydney. For her, she just never wanted to see her, or hear about her, or deal with her again. However, she was too good of a friend to tell Katherine not to bring her name up anymore, so she just did her best to avoid her otherwise. She chose seats on the opposite side of the classroom when they shared classes, she rejected invitations from Katherine when she knew the blonde would be involved, and she turned down different hallways if she saw the blonde headed her way. If Katherine had not had a hand around her arm, it was likely that Thylane would have excused herself before Sydney could even say those words that made her stomach drop.

Alexandra's entrance began just after that, and Thylane hoped that that was enough of a distraction for everyone, where her face turning ten shades paler wasn't noticeable. "I'll be back in a minute," she said to Katherine as the music changed over, to really draw everyone's attention to the scene that was about to unfold, and with just how hyped up things quickly got, Thylane wouldn't have been surprised if Katherine and everyone else didn't even notice that she was gone. Although she was interested in seeing just how extravagant Alex could be in her entrance, Thylane had to get away from that group, and that led her to finding the bathroom to collect herself in. While she took a few minutes in there to convince herself that she didn't need to go home over one stupid comment from Sydney, she texted Cassidy and Brent.

To: Cassidy, Brent

ImageHello, my little party animals! Gossip Girl here, reporting to you from the hottest Halloween party that Southampton will see this season.

This will be a quick one, since there's a Poison Apple cocktail calling my name from the bar, but I just had to remind you all to be on your best behavior tonight. You know that Gossip Girl is always on her A-game, and it's a good thing that one of us here is, or else no one would be here to report that while everyone else's attention was glued on The Overacheiver in all her birthday belly-dancing glory, Gossip Girl caught our very own Queen Bee sneaking off with Prince Charming. Don't believe me? Check out the picture below. Not even Gossip Girl was brazen enough to follow them, but I think we can all only imagine just why they needed a little bit of privacy, now can't we?

I'll leave you with that for now, but remember, Gossip Girl is always watching!

XOXO

Katherine would be content with a bow and arrow for her birthday... as long as it was handcrafted by Hermès, of course. Surprisingly, she opted against chiming in once more, and allowed Clifford and Alex a moment of silence on her end, after she put in another drink order, but this time for a Red Bull vodka. Her Fireball shot sat untouched on the bar counter, only because Katherine wanted to wait for Alex and Cliff to get theirs, so she could offer a proper toast before downing hers, but the minute she saw a notification for the Gossip Girl blog appear on her phone, her instincts kicked in and she took the shot without even really thinking about it. Luckily, her Red Bull vodka was being conjured as she read the post, because it took all of ten seconds for her to realize that she was going to need a lot more alcohol tonight than she had originally planned on consuming. Katherine was far too emotionally transparent to hide the stark change in emotions that she was feeling, as her expression quickly transformed from an upbeat, carefree one, into one of pure distress. How could this be?! It was possible that Gossip Girl's insinuations were nothing but false, that this tiny story and blurry photo were nothing more than Sydney being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. She wouldn't do that. She couldn't be so stupid! So careless! So heartless! Other people who read the post would probably find it easier to believe that Gossip Girl's insinuation was just plain old gossip, but Katherine was one of the very few people who knew that there was a real history between Sydney and Vincent. While this situation wasn't incredibly similar to what had happened years ago, because Alex and Vincent weren't dating right now (and never would be again, if Kat had it her way), it felt all too familiar for Katherine's liking.

First off, ex-boyfriends were always off limits, so there would be no valid excuse on Sydney's part even considering that Alex was supposed to be over Vincent. Given that Alex had already forgiven Sydney for the mistake she had made with Vincent made this rumor, if it happened to be true, even more damning. What made it even worse, though, was that this was being speculated about on a night that was supposed to be 100% completely about Alex. Sydney had even made a point in warning Katherine to be on her best behavior and keep that in mind days ago! If Sydney had really went ahead and done something like this--something that was such a betrayal in so many ways--then Katherine didn't think she could ever defend Sydney. She had found ways to do so to Alex the first time, when she would beg that she give Sydney a second chance to mend their group's sense of unity, but if this really had happened again, Katherine felt like it was hopeless. Sydney screwing Vincent would be the one thing that could single handedly screw their entire friend group over, right when things were starting to feel good and normal again.

"B-R-B," she said to Clifford and Alex, and although she truly tried to maintain the cheerful tone that had come so naturally a minute before, it was impossible for her to wipe the worried look off of her face. As frantic as she was feeling, she definitely did not forget to take her Red Bull vodka before hurrying away from the bar. She needed to find Sydney, and as she navigated through the groups of party-goers, many of whom Kat was envying now, as they all seemed so happy and tipsy, dancing and having a good time, she sent out some texts. The first was to Thylane, who always seemed to be Kat's go-to person when she was feeling overwhelmed and stressed out about a problem that involved her other friends to an extent where she couldn't talk to them about it. The second was a response to Brent, and if she wasn't freaking out right now, his text was probably one that wouldn't have been answered until she was at least three more drinks into the night. The last went to Sydney, or what she thought was to Sydney alone, but given that Alex didn't have her phone on her at that very minute anyway, it probably didn't matter much that Katherine was actually sending them to their group chat.

To: Thylane
I'm freaking out where are you Alex is going to start hating Sydney again and omg I can't deal with that again T

To: Brent
I only want it if it's something that will kill me when mixed with alcohol

To: Sydney, Alex
Please tell me you didn't

Thylane was human. She never advertised herself as being anything more than that, so while she liked to put herself above drama most of the time, she wasn't perfect. So... sue her if maybe her emotions got the best of her when she was leaving the bathroom she had snuck into, just in time to spot Sydney and Vincent heading farther down that same distant hallway. The picture she snapped of them wasn't perfect, and was definitely a bit blurry, but there was no denying that it was the two of them in it. She didn't even think before sending the photo to the anonymous submission spot on the Gossip Girl blog. It wasn't any premeditated or well thought out plan... she wasn't trying to destroy Alex's mood or her party... she just wanted Sydney Persson to be more stressed out than was necessary. While Thylane was oblivious to the love triangle that had occurred between Sydney, Vincent and Alex, she was sure that Sydney being pictured running off with Alex's ex would cause enough of a stir in itself, even without knowing that it would actually have more emotionally-linked repercussions than she knew about. She wasn't thinking about anything or anyone else, other than her desire to get even in the only way that was possible, after Sydney left her feeling so out of place minutes earlier.

Just as her mistakes proved that she was human, the bout of guilt she experienced in the minutes after symbolized that as well. She managed to return to the party and find Brent and Cassidy, but only a minute or so after that, did she get what she had asked for... a new post was up on the Gossip Girl blog, and there was her photo. "To answer your question, no, hanging with the cool kids did not work for me, but you can wipe that snide look off of your face because it wasn't for the reasons you imagined," Thylane answered, sporting a bit of sass in her tone. In actuality, whatever Cassidy was thinking was probably right - about how Katherine and her band of friends were a lot less nice than Thylane tried to reason them to be when justifying her friendship with Kat to Cassidy. "They just all got wrapped up in Alex's big entrance, and I didn't want to intrude. What did I miss with you two?" Because she didn't want to seem too interested in the blog that normally she brushed off to Cassidy and Brent as being petty and immature, she didn't bring up the post that was just made, but did pay attention to her phone for long enough to answer Katherine, who clearly had read the post already herself.

To: Katherine
I'm in the back corner with Cassidy and Brent... what's wrong? I'm so confused :(??

Thylane joined Brent and Cassidy not long after Cassidy finished ranting about their friend, and Thylane was quick to dispel any comments that even Brent knew were probably lingering on the tip of Cassidy's tongue. Although Brent didn't hate the popular kids as much as Cassidy did, he was sometimes just as confused as she was about why Thylane liked any of them, nonetheless Katherine. He liked Kat because he found her flightiness to be cute, and girls who were a little bit crazy attracted him a lot more than the ones who had everything figured out. Plus, the fact that she was filty rich and crazy enough to be into drugs when her illness was at its peak made her a great client--something that Brent could never complain about. He liked her because of that, but in all other senses, she was the picture perfect bratty, spoiled rotten rich kid that was easy for average people like him and Thylane to loathe. What the girl thought she had in common with Katherine was still unknown to Brent, but he didn't care enough to judge her aloud for it like Cassidy frequently did. "You didn't miss much. Just Cassidy being bitter over everything, as usual," he said with a playful smirk, though he purposely took a small step away from her as he said it, knowing good and well that it was likely that she would send a punch to his arm, or some other form of physical reaction his way, as retribution.

To: Charlotte
Blowing up my phone? Come on, Buchanan. You know I like it when you play hard to get. This whole newfound thirst you have for me doesn't make it as fun.

To: Katherine
Overdoses aren't my specialty, but I can fix you up with something that'll make you forget that whatever makes you want to die ever happened.

After pulling out his phone to send responses to Charlotte and Katherine, he scrolled through his Twitter and Snapchat feeds, social media spots that proved to be good indicators of which of his clients were in need of drugs. What caught his eye was a tweet linking to the Gossip Girl blog, with a caption saying "is anyone else scared for how this nite is gonna go". His curiosity forced him to read the Gossip Girl post, which left him smirking afterwards. It had nothing to do with him, but even so, Brent always found drama amusing when it didn't involve him. "According to that Gossip Girl blog, it looks like the birthday girl's night is going to be ruined, though," he noted, as he put his phone into his pocket. Brent ended up finding out a lot of gossip through his clients, whether he wanted to hear it or not. He didn't know who Vincent had slept with that caused his breakup with Alex years ago, so he wasn't privy to all of the consequences that would come from this photo, but he knew enough to know that Vincent was Alex's ex, and him being spotted with anyone else had to sting, especially when it was being done at her party of all places, and with one of her closest friends.

Kat breathed a sigh of relief when Sydney found her, but only because it meant that she didn’t have to search through the entire party to find her. Plus, seeing her now made Kat feel at least a little bit better knowing that she still wasn’t with Vincent, and she didn’t have a post-quickie disheveled look to her. Then again, Sydney wasn’t the type who ever really looked like a mess, so it wasn’t like that automatically meant that nothing had happened. She was aware that Sydney was good at wearing masks. She could pretend that things were okay, and that nothing had happened, even when that wasn’t true. "No to the first thing, but I'm going to need something stronger than this alcohol after reading what I just read,” she said, and though her voice remained skeptical, she at first wore a pleading look on her face as she tried to read Sydney before continuing, sounding a bit more certain and demanding now. “And yes to the second one. I'm getting Vincent kicked out, whether you support it or not. If she doesn't kick him out, I'm leaving and I'm never talking to her again, and I swear this time I seriously am going to go through with it."

"Kat..." she said, flashing the brunette a warning look. She opted against responding directly to Katherine's reference to having just read the post that Sydney had also just read. She didn't want to go there. She didn't think that she needed to explain herself to Katherine, who was supposed to be her best friend. If Katherine was complaining about the mutual stress that they were all going to feel from that post, then that was one thing, and that was what Sydney chose to believe she was commenting on, as she continued to say, "This is Alex's party. Don't make it about you." Even if Sydney could recognize that any drama that affected her and Alex affected Katherine too, Sydney was still quite confident that she was the one who was going to deal with more stress than anyone else -Alex included- following this.

"That sounds funny coming out of your mouth given that picture I saw." She had to take a large sip of her drink before speaking, but the words came out nonetheless, and with an ounce of attitude in her tone that wasn’t common when she was talking to Sydney.

"Really, Katherine? He asked me a question, and I--" She was about to explain the situation in full, and tell Katherine that she should be grateful for the response that Sydney gave to Vincent's question, when she suggested that he let Alex go if that allowed her to be happy, when she realized what she was doing. She was Sydney Persson, and she did not have to explain herself to anyone. Not even her closest friends. Not when it was regarding a rumor that she believed anyone who truly knew her should know, right away, was absolutely, positively, one hundred percent fictitious. "I don't need to justify myself to you, or anyone, for that matter. We're not doing this here."

"You make it sound like it's the most bizarre thing in the world,” Katherine scoffed, and it was definitely worth noting that her reaction now was not typical to Katherine. She was not as passive and mindless as people often liked to paint her to be, depicting her to be one of Sydney’s dependent followers who lived and breathed for the Queen Bee. Katherine was a devoted friend, that was for sure, and she did respect Sydney, and know that it was usually easier to go with what Sydney wanted simply to avoid conflict, but it was also important to remember that Katherine was raised in a home environment where she was used to almost everything going her way. Because of that, she was often conflicted with picking her battles, and even when she did play the submissive part with Sydney to her face, she was throwing a temper tantrum behind the scenes about not getting her way initially. Every now and then, though, Katherine did more than just complain to Alex about those injustices. She could stand up to Sydney when something bothered her enough, and maybe the alcohol in her system had something to do with it, but tonight she was feeling a bit more brazen than usual. “You did it once, and now you're running off with him again, right when all of the attention is supposed to be for her, and when she actually looks like she might be able to move on finally?” It definitely wasn’t like this was the first time that Katherine had ever witnessed Alex hit it off with a guy since the whole Vincent fiasco, so Kat only added in that reference for a bit of an unnecessary and dramatic emphasis to prove her point. “I'm not doing this again with you two, Syd! I can't deal with you guys wanting to kill each other again.” She had taken her hand that wasn’t holding her drink and grabbed Sydney’s wrist as she spoke in a combination of a hiss and a plea.

As Sydney already said, she wasn't going to have this conversation here. If she had it her way, she wasn't going to have this conversation at all, because it was insulting that her friend would even consider that there might be some truth behind the post's insinuation, but more than anything, she was just certain that she wasn't having this conversation here. For one thing, her mood was already shot, and Katherine was pushing her to a point where she was likely to snap. Making a scene in public wasn't Sydney's kind of deal. Secondly, and this was something that she was less likely to acknowledge aloud, she didn't need this little rat of a social climber, Gossip Girl, to have one more thing to write about with her name included. Simply because of who she was, it was hard for Sydney to stay under the radar, but tonight, she wanted to do that more than anything else. For Alex... who she now had to consider might have been as idiotic as Katherine was when she saw the post... and though Sydney wanted to maintain her good-friend mindset, the other version of herself stepped in to tell her that if Alex wanted to be like Kat and believe a silly rumor, then that wasn't her problem. It was only a reflection of how bad of a friend she was to Sydney. “This conversation is over and I want you to stop drinking before you become even more senseless.” She showed little emotion in her voice, though the unwavering way she met Katherine’s gaze was probably enough to signal that she was serious about that, as she swiped the drink from Katherine’s hand and turned away from her, not allowing her a chance to continue the conversation even if she wanted to. Once she was deep enough in the crowd, she took a sip of the drink and decided that even though Red Bull vodka wasn’t her go-to drink, she was going to need to finish that by the time she got to the bar to order her own drink. It was just going to be one of those nights.

Though she had been outspoken at first, Katherine said nothing as Sydney shut down the conversation, stole her drink, and walked off. Her “my way or no way” mode had been activated, and now the only thing she knew to do was to sulk at not getting her way. Her initial reaction had her briskly weaving through groups of gleeful party patrons, in route to the stairs. Katherine knew that the guests weren’t supposed to enter the private quarters of Alexandra’s home, but Katherine wouldn’t even consider that such a rule applied to her. In fact, the minute that she saw a member of Alexandra’s house staff, she demanded that they unlock the birthday girl’s bedroom, so that at the very least, she could sulk in comfort and privacy, in a space that she was familiar with. On her way up, she sent out two texts.

To: Thylane
let's go home i don't wanna be here anymore

Katherine had definitely been in a bad mood when she first got upstairs to Alex's bedroom, and her threat to leave the party hadn't been an entirely empty one. No one could put anything that dramatic past Katherine, and the major reason that she didn't leave was only that her father refused to schedule a helicopter flight back for her tonight, she didn't feel like spending over an hour in an Uber, and suddenly the idea of sleeping alone, or even with Thylane, Cassidy, and Brent, at her own summer home just a few minutes drive away seemed creepy (and she could blame Alex's A+ Halloween decorations for that). Part of the reason for why she remained at Alex's house was that she felt like she had no better alternative, but also, was because once Thylane joined her upstairs, her mood improved tenfold. At this point, it could only be attributed to the alcohol that Thylane brought with her. An hour later, they were multiple shots in, and Katherine couldn't wipe the silly grin off of her face, even if she wanted to. The alcohol was what turned her mood around, but Katherine enjoyed Thylane's company regardless. She vented to her about the Gossip Girl post, about how Sydney treated her, and about how she assumed that Alex was siding with Sydney somehow, since she hadn't answered her texts yet. She went on and on, probably in more detail than she should have, about what Sydney and Alex's beef years ago had done to their friend group and how she couldn't handle it happening again.

How all of that somehow led to Katherine sitting on the floor, her back leaning against the foot of Alex's bed as Thylane sat on top of her, with her lips pressed against Katherine's, she would never recall. All that she knew was that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop herself from giggling every time Thylane pulled away to breathe. She couldn't stop her heart from beating faster than it should have been, or from wanting to lean back in every time Thylane pulled even slightly backwards. Regardless of how odd this situation was, it didn't feel that way in the moment. It was... euphoric feeling, almost, and it was only when Katherine actually couldn't keep herself from giggling in the middle of their kiss that she pulled her head back enough to rest it on the bottom part of the side of Alex's bed, that she was leaning against. "Do you think it's true that the French are the best lovers?" she whispered, breaking her eye contact with Thylane for only a second to confirm that they had consumed all of the alcohol that Thylane had brought up earlier, before meeting her gaze once again.

"Hmm... I think so," Thylane answered, a smile playing on her face, but only before adding, "But you probably know better than I do. Can't say I've had any experience there." She didn't have any experience sleeping with anyone, and if she was being completely open, she would have to admit that this was the first real kiss she had ever had, too. As a child, she had to kiss little boys very innocently in some of her photo shoots, but of course, they were only small pecks. In grade school, she kissed a boy on the playground during lunch hour, and before moving to New York, one of her best childhood friends had kissed her during a game of truth or dare, but she hadn't kissed anyone since becoming a teenager or moving to New York. She had never made out with anyone, or been able to feel so close with someone as she did with Katherine at this very moment, and God, did it feel good. The fact that she had had a friend crush on Katherine for God knows how long probably had something to do with how this felt so euphoric, like such a relief, too.

"I don't know better than you, and you know that, T!" Katherine objected. Thylane had served as her personal therapist in the past few years, especially when Sydney and Alex were feuding. When no one else was around or willing to listen to her complaints, Thylane was always willing to offer her her time and advice. Though Kat probably was not as verbally grateful for it as she should have been, her friendship with Thylane was one that she cherished. She felt comfortable telling her things that she would have been embarrassed to admit to most people, so even if she wasn't drunk like she was now, she wouldn't have felt weird joking about how sexually inexperienced she was with Thylane, because she talked about it with her in normal conversation.

"You're a good enough kisser that now it's hard for me to believe that you're a virgin," she said, making a mock accusation, though her voice remained soft. She allowed her fingers to glide down Katherine's neck, tracing her collarbone. She wanted to allow them to fall farther down on the girl's body, but even with liquor in her system, Thylane knew that she had to have self-restraint. She was more intoxicated right now than she had ever felt (which wasn't really saying much, since she had only ever had a drink or so at parties), but she was still completely conscious of what she was doing. She was feeling bolder than usual, but not out of touch with herself.

Compliments made Katherine happy, but rather than say thank you, she leaned in to kiss Thylane once more, almost as if she was going to need that reminder when it came to the question that Katherine posed once she pulled away just enough to whisper into her ear. "Can't you change that for me? Tonight?"

It took a lot for Thylane to not say yes to that, and either turn out the lights right here and help Katherine undress, or insist that they call a ride to go back to Katherine's home, without anyone even noticing that they left. This was what she had wanted forever! Suddenly her fantasy was right at her fingertips, and yet her conscience told her that she couldn't do it. She valued this friendship too much, and she knew Katherine too well to think that the girl would wake up tomorrow feeling as comfortable with all of this as she seemed to be tonight. "I wish I could say yes, but I don't want you to wake up tomorrow and never want to look at me again. I like you too much to risk that."

"No... I think you just need more tequila! Be back!" she announced, as she gently pushed Thylane off of her. Her smile widened at the thought of tequila... it was exactly what she needed too, right now. Thylane's claim that it was surprising that she was a virgin had her thinking (albeit hazily through her drunkenness) about why she still was a virgin. Seventeen wasn't that old to have never slept with anyone, but given that all of her closest friends had, she definitely felt a bit more than insecure about it. She had body image issues that had always been the first reason she gave herself for why she could never sleep with anyone, but when it came down to it, Kat couldn't feel intimate towards anyone that she didn't truly like, and truly know. She wasn't like the girls who saw a cute guy and instantly knew that they wanted to go home with them and have a one night stand. She couldn't relate to that mindset, because it was impossible for her to have those sort of sexual or romantic feelings for anyone that she hadn't known for quite some time. In fact, the only person who she had ever thought she was close to feeling that way towards was Ace, a guy that she went on a few dates with a few months back, but because feelings like that scared her so much (and because she was in a bad spot mentally for other reasons), she ended that almost as quickly as it begun. Tonight though... for the first time in forever, Katherine felt comfortable in this environment. Things felt natural, and she wasn't scared of how she looked, or how Thylane perceived her as they sat on Alex's bedroom floor, ignoring the spirited party going on downstairs in favor of just enjoying each other's company.

Her exit wasn't as quick as she hoped it would be, because even now being in only fuzzy socks (ones that she might have stolen from Alex's closet), and not having to deal with her high platform heels, it took a great deal of focus and agility for Katherine to actually be able to get onto her feet and stay on them. It was only then that she really felt the shots from earlier take their toll, and because Katherine was definitely a lightweight, it was not likely that she was going to be able to stomach another shot so soon, but she was going to try anyway. "My little midget baby!" was the first thing that Katherine exclaimed when she got downstairs, luckily seeing Alex early on once she reached the party level of the house. She flung her arms around the girl, partly out of how overjoyed she was, and tended to be when drunk, and also because she needed a little bit of assistance stability-wise. "I thought you died! I thought Edward Cullen showed up and kidnapped you and none of your fake friends stepped in to save you like I would have!" Though her 'fake friends' comment had to be thrown in, it seemed like for the moment, Kat was forgetting the altercation between herself and Sydney earlier, and since her phone was tossed to the side somewhere in Alex's room, she hadn't read her friends responses. "Ugh, I'm so glad that you're alive and beautiful and let's get shots to celebrate! Thylane and I are having our own party in your room, but once she agrees to sleep with me I'll come back down here and bless you all with my presence once again!" Katherine said, and surprisingly, rather than slurring her words, she kept up the quick paced speed that she was known for in her speech. She was just too excited, really.

Katherine's clumsy exit only made Thylane's smile grow, and though a part of her wondered if the drunk girl would even remember to return once the excitement of the party downstairs caught her attention, she wasn't overly worried about it. For one, Kat's shoes were still up here, and secondly, Thylane could at least feel reassured that Katherine's friend group would be going through issues of their own tonight, to hopefully make Kat more inclined to want to be around her over them. Though she knew that it probably wasn't the smartest move, even Thylane, who was used to being secretive and private about her own business couldn't contain the secret of what had just happened. She had to text someone, and given that she didn't have many friends, she found herself texting Cassidy.

To: Cassidy

Despite what Katherine would tell people, Cassidy was not obsessed with her. She liked to antagonize her, because she found Katherine to be feeble-minded and easily manipulated into over reacting and being emotional in ways that were amusing, but she did not want to be her, or envy her in the ways that Kat liked to talk about. There was a time, when Cassidy wanted to be friends with girls like Katherine Arnault, but that was long before she even knew Katherine, or lived in Manhattan. By the time she moved into the city, those dreams were gone, and by the time that she met Katherine, they were definitely dead. One would think that because of that, it would be hard for Cassidy to enjoy herself that Katherine was at, especially when it was being hosted by a girl who was one of Katherine's closest friends, and therefore, automatically just as shallow and vain as Cassidy viewed Katherine as being. Luckily, that wasn't true. In fact, Cassidy was enjoying her night at Alex's party far more than she would admit. The constant stream of top shelf liquor helped, but beyond that, she was enjoying the company of Brent (who may or may not have been the reason for her needing to touch-up her makeup more than once already tonight...), and the other friends that they interacted with. She had managed to turn around her spirits so much so, that she wasn't even bothered as Brent would interrupt their fun every few minutes to make a deal, or text someone back about a drug deal. He insisted that he was almost done for the night; that he only had one more sale to make, so that allowed her to relax as they headed back towards the bar to pick up another drink.

On her way over, Cassidy was forced to stop dead in her tracks at a text she received from Thylane. She resumed walking only once she realized that there were people behind her, but her response wasn't even dramatic, given just how shocked she truly was at the girl's words. Cassidy had a feeling that Thylane was bisexual when they first met, though she had never actually brought it up, so that wasn't the surprising part. The surprising part of all of this was that Thylane said she had made out with Katherine. Katherine of all people! Part of Cassidy was simply shocked that Thylane would be so emotionally blind as to feel any sort of attraction for Katherine, but the other part of her was baffled at the idea of Katherine making out with Thylane. Her being bisexual or gay definitely was not something Cassidy would have put money on.

To: Thylane
Ew. I don't think I'm ever gonna talk to you again after this night either.

Her response to Thylane was a typical-Cassidy one; one that was harsher than necessary, but also not as heartfelt as she wanted to act like it was. It was easier for Cassidy to process things by responding with bitter and cynical humor, over actually showing her true emotions. Surprisingly, though, she allowed herself to be a bit on the rawer side in regards to how she was going to handle this with Brent. While Thylane's part in all of this was semi-understandable, Cassidy was simply flabbergasted at the idea of Katherine partaking in anything of the sort, with just alcohol in her system. "Did you sell something to Katherine tonight? Be honest, seriously," she said to Brent, once they reached the bar. The fact that Sydney and Alex were present at the bar and Katherine, their usual third, was notably absent, only confirmed that Thylane wasn't lying (even though Cassidy hadn't assumed she was to begin with anyway).

Katherine fed off of Alex's returned energy, feeling more and more convinced that what she was talking about was a good idea, but it was either Katherine's naivety when it came to all things sexual, or just her sheer level of drunkenness, that allowed the meaning of Alex's words to somehow get lost in translation. It was only when Alex departed from her side that Katherine's expression changed from an excited one, to one of confusion. Why would Alex suggest that they use protection, when they were both girls? They didn't need condoms if neither of them had anything that needed to be wrapped in one, Katherine thought, and she was probably visibly puzzled as she remained standing there for a good minute trying to figure out what Alex meant. Trapped in thought, she completely forgot that she came down there to get more drunks for Thylane and herself, and returned upstairs with nothing in her hands, but thoughts definitely on her mind. Somehow, and it was probably only Kat's mind that could come up with this logic, Kat came to the conclusion that Alex must have thought that Thylane was physically a male, that she was transgender, or something along those lines. Any normal (or sober) person would have known better than to even humor or think such an idea could be true, especially when Katherine was closer to Thylane than Alex was, so if anyone would know something like that, it would be Kat, but she wasn't thinking normally or soberly tonight.

She returned to Alex's bedroom, still wearing a confused expression, and she was careful to shut the door behind her gently now, doing her best to regain some sort of more controlled behavior, despite what her intoxicated body wanted to do. Thylane was still sitting on the floor, and Kat approached her in an almost nervous manner. "Okay, T, I think we have a problem," she said unsurely, playing with her fingers in a restless manner. "Alex thinks that you're a boy, and like, that's fine if you are, because I know a lot of people are coming out as transgender or whatever nowadays, but I'm going to be so confused and maybe a little freaked out if you actually are," she admitted. It was undeniable that Katherine was not the most politically correct person to ever walk the earth, and even she was aware of that, but the unnecessary and dumb concern she had over this wasn't coming necessarily out of the belief that Thylane might be transgender in itself, but more so that it would freak her out in terms of just finding out now.

In the time that Katherine was gone, Thylane had spent a couple of minutes in Alex's bathroom, fixing herself up to look decent for when Katherine returned. After a few minutes of toying with her hair and makeup, she returned to her seated position on the floor, not long before Katherine returned. "Transgender? What?" Thylane responded in utter shock. There was a shock factor to Kat that contributed to her likability, in that you knew you were never going to have a dull moment with her. The things that came out of her mouth were often dramatic, scandalous, and quite often, on the verge of being offensive to someone, and yet the things that managed to surpass those qualifications were usually entertaining and humorous. Katherine had a way with words, and though that way was not eloquent or witty, it was frequently endearing in a way that only Katherine Arnault could get away with. The words that had just come out of Katherine's mouth, however, made Thylane finally stand up, as if she needed to be on her feet to prepare for what genuinely felt like an attack on her character. Being transgender wasn't a bad thing. Thylane was open to all types of people and didn't harbor any feelings of hatred or prejudice towards people who identified differently than her, but it was common knowledge that other people weren't like that. Being accused of being something that you were not, in terms of your sexual or gender identity, often still came with a negative connotation, and beyond that, being told that she was being gossiped about by her friends who Thylane already knew were of higher social standing than herself, felt offensive in itself.

"I'm pretty sure that I'm the one who deserves to feel confused and freaked out right now. You think I transitioned from a boy to a girl?" She had to laugh out loud as she heard herself say that, though there was certainly a sarcastic tinge to it. Despite the laugh, repeating it only enraged her more, and that was apparent in the way that she quickly switched over to speaking French, with her words coming out sharper than a knife blade. "Vous êtes tellement idiot, Kat. Ne savez-vous pas comment penser pour vous-même? Avez-vous déjà envisagé de me défendre contre vos amis méchants, ou est-ce une amitié unidirectionnelle où je dois toujours vous défendre et me permettre de faire un pas sur vous?" {"You're so stupid, Kat. Don't you know how to think for yourself? Have you ever considered defending me against your bitchy friends, or is this a one-way friendship where I always have to defend you, and let myself be stepped on by them?"}

"Oh my God! Why are you being so dramatic right now, T? That was literally so unnecessary and rude for no reason and I'm seriously so offended right now..." Katherine responded, her mouth agape as she looked to Thylane with true horror on her face, as if her reaction was just about as misplaced as it could get.

There was no use in getting overly upset. This was who Katherine was, and Thylane told herself now that she knew all of this when she signed up to be friends with her. Katherine was shallow and selfish, and Thylane was a fool for thinking that someone like Kat, who lived in a universe where everything really did revolve around her, could ever be a good friend to someone like her, nonetheless more than a friend. This was a mistake. It was all a mistake, and Thylane forced herself to head towards the door at that thought. "You're absolutely crazy. I really can't deal with you right now, so, goodnight. I'm done with this," she snapped, barely waiting by the door long enough to hear whatever Katherine had to say in response to that.

"Good. I hope you had fun at the last party you're ever going to be invited to!" Katherine shouted back, though Thylane was already partially out of the room by the time she got the statement out of her mouth. Once the girl was gone, Katherine followed her to the door, but only to slam it behind Thylane. The alcohol and the emotions probably played a role in it, but she truly didn't understand what had set Thylane off like that. It wasn't like she said anything wrong, she told herself. She was merely "repeating" what her very trustworthy friend, Alex, had told her. Even then, all that had been asked was a question. She wasn't being stupid, like Thylane accused her of being, and her friends weren't being bitchy to her either. As counterproductive as it seemed, Katherine told herself that Thylane had some type of version of a guilty conscience, and this was her way of reacting to Alex being right about her. Katherine had her own way of reacting to Thylane's outburst though, and that was apparent in what she sent Alex and Sydney once she sat down on the edge of Alex's bed.

To: Alex, Sydney
I know this party is about you Alex and Ily but you needto kick Thylane out RIGHT NOW. All I did was ask her if she was transgender like you said she was and she flipped out and called both of you SO many names and said she was going to do everything she could to ruin this party please kick her out

It was finally the day of the senior class fall trip. Clifford had been to Paris numerous times before, but that didn't stop him from being genuinely excited to return to France, but this time, with his friends and classmates in tow. The only thing that he wasn't looking forward to was the seven and a half hour flight from JFK to Paris. It was a red eye flight that the school had booked entirely for their students, leaving at 7:30 PM and getting in right around 9:00 AM, which Clifford preferred, at least. He wasn't a light sleeper, so falling asleep on the plane wouldn't be a challenge, and then they'd have the entire day in France for exploring, rather than only half a day due to a later flight arrival.

With only another fifteen minutes or so until boarding began, Clifford found himself sitting at the Wendy's in their terminal, Terminal 2, with a few kids from the lacrosse team. Even though the night was technically winding down, now, everyone seemed to be energized and ready for the upcoming week. There was nonstop chatter about the sights that they would see, and how fun the trip would be given that even though all of them weren't eighteen, and old enough to be served liquor in France, that they were all, at least old enough to be served wine and beer, and as they all knew, that was enough to have a good time. The students couldn't complain about the way that their school handled these trips, either. The students were all divided into groups of ten students, or so, and a teacher turned chaperone was assigned to each group. While the chaperone was responsible for the group's well-being, a lot of the time, they had a hands off approach, where they would simply give the groups a time that they needed to meet back at certain points throughout the day, but other than that, the students were free to explore as they wished.

Clifford left his friends at the fast food spot a bit early, in order to give himself time to use the restroom and then head to a retail spot to purchase a generous amount of snacks for the flight. On his way back towards the gate, he spotted Charlotte, and grinned as he approached her. "Ready for this trip, Miss President? Let's hope that it all goes well, so we don't have to accept blame for something failing when it wasn't in our control anyway."
