Most people call him Tristan and some (to him) are lame enough to call him T because apparently, everyone needs a nickname. At the same time,
it's not like he doesn't respond to it.

✧Hα΄€ΙͺΚ€βœ§
Raven black and naturally kinky, Tristan keeps his hair shaved close to the scalp and rarely lets it grow out, mostly because he honestly doesn't feel like caring for it. Once he realized at a young age how painful getting cornrows could be, it was a wrap for him.

✦Eʏᴇs✦
Dark brown and definitely mistaken for black most of the time, at least until they catch some random wayward beam from the sun and the brown in his eyes can be seen.

✧Sα΄‹Ιͺɴ✧
Dark brown, close to ebony, with blue-black undertones.

✧In Depth✧
As Tristan will tell you, you might be able to say that Tristan just isn't your type - which he will definitely call a micro-aggression, even if he doesn't say it to your face, but what you can't say is that he isn't attractive at all. In fact, it would be a bold-faced lie and his arrogance will not allow you to deny him his attractiveness. His dark skin has always been relatively smooth and definitely admirable since he only had a small issue when it came to acne during puberty. His dark features may not be the epitome of what others call beauty or what it means to be handsome, but there's definitely something captivating about his looks and it has a lot to do with the way that he carries himself. Even without the wealth his peers have, Tristan puts in the effort to look good, really good. He works out, which can be noted in the definition of his arms and broad shoulders. He may be a nerd at heart, but no one can ever call him an unseasoned one. He knows what looks good on him and he may not be everyone's first choice in Man Crush Monday, but he couldn't be the player if he didn't have the looks.

Despite how many hearts he has broken or how many happy relationships Tristan (proudly) might have ruined, the one thing you cannot say is that he is not one smooth son-of-a-gun, which he definitely is. After all, you cannot exist in this upper crest lifestyle - even when you're still somewhat looking through the looking glass - and not be somewhat of a dick. Which, again, he definitely is, but Tristan knows how to hide it and when he does, he does it well. In any world, you have to be confident and damn well sure of yourself, but you have to appear humble and well, you got to have a charm that can win the hearts of peers and even adults. And after one heartbreak that he had labeled as too many, Tristan made damn sure that he learned such a skill. Suave with eyes that has had many hearts racing, Tristan almost always knows what to say to get in your pants, heart, and mind. Tristan is a master manipulator and is naturally cunning, at that. While it is easy, due to his arrogant nature and the fact that he keeps things like his GPA secret from everyone else, to surmise that he's simply another scholarship student trying to be something that he is not all for the sake of fitting in with the rich kids, Liam is much more adept as a thinker than he allows for other people to know. He had to be. Though others might think Scandal was a touch dramatic, as Olivia Pope recalled from her father's teaching, you have to be twice as good as them to get half of what they have. And Tristan had decided a while back that he wanted more than just half.

While he might seem to be on his I-am-a-god type of front, he is actually a lot more perceptive and nothing he does is without calculation. Particularly as they pertain to his relationships. Not many of his relationships were formed just because of shared interests and a genuine enjoyment of people. Some of those who find themselves charmed by Tristan are simply people whose connections benefit him on a superficial or even sometimes professional level. Different individuals entertain him on different levels, which is why he's willing to entertain friendships with people he knows for a fact that under different circumstances, they wouldn't care to give him the time of day unless he was writing a paper for him and he wouldn't care to try to get to know in the first place. Tristan surrounds himself with people who both like him and dislike him; the former because it is beneficial to have people under your thumb and supposedly friends who are there to admire you and be on your side, the latter because he finds immense pleasure in getting under another person's skin. Even some of the most fearless of people who say they aren't intimidated by others cannot help but feel something nagging in the back of their minds in Tristan's presence. And a part of it is because some part of them is aware that Tristan will not hesitate to use whatever connections he has with a person against them as long as it brings him pleasure or a result that he wanted. Which is why, as much as he can seem trustworthy because he's not the type to spill all of your dirty little secrets, he's also the last one you want knowing your business.
Because Tristan has no problem with exploiting them.

And that's where one can tell that Tristan is getting far too used to the social scene of the Upper East Side because while gossip and the rumor mill were things a younger Tristan avoided back in the day, the current Tristan loves being in the middle of it. Again, he likes learning about people's secrets and has no qualm against obtaining such information by dirty means. He's also not against creating issues, particularly as they pertain to rumors. While one might find it harmless, the machinations speak upon Tristan's deceitful charm. As a person who likes stirring up drama, sometimes even about himself, he's also extremely good at keeping his own name out of the equation while simultaneously ruining another person's life. If he wants Ricky to get the fuck out of dodge and never return, it's going to happen. Tristan just has to meddle here and there, be the serpent on the shoulder of some unsuspecting person, and then things will fall into place. Again, he likes control - a lot more than most people should, which is something to be discussed. But his love for control is even more twisted because he likes it when people think that they are in control of the situations. Tristan isn't some top dog. He knows that and other people know that. But he also knows who are the ones that are considered top dogs, who can make the moves and end and start someone's social career on the Upper East Side. And, by playing his cards right, Tristan will have a person convinced that an idea was all their own, that positively destroying a so-called friend was the exact move to make against them after being filmed drunk at a party and that video having been posted online without their consent. And Tristan revels in being able to remain this fun-loving guy everyone anticipates to yes, be an arrogant douche-bag because he thinks he's the greatest thing since the coming of Jesus Christ, but also be able to see his machinations come to play. It means that, despite how exclusive they can be, these rich kids can be infiltrated and manipulated. That they aren't that much better than the rest of the kids who are like Tristan. It means he's closer to being just like the guys his ex seemed to prefer over him in her quest for power, even if he never admits to it. All he has to do is be the random averagely wealthy guy on campus who happens to be a charmer and fun for the popular guys to chill with because he - supposedly - doesn't care about all the power play bullshit. At least, that's what they think. As long as he's cold and ruthless and self-serving - always seeking his own pleasure in the bodies that happen to fall into the sheets with him or even in his arms, then he's not the weak little black boy who's too smart for his own good. Who wasn't enough for someone he might have even been able to say he loved. As long as his insecurities don't show, then Tristan can pretend - just for a little while - that he's another one of these rich guys who get away with doing even worse than what he does. At least until it's time for him go home and pretend to be a good boy for his mom.

Quirks & Habits
Is such a foodie that on his Instagram, every picture after a selfie is more than likely a depiction of food. ✦ Forever keeps chap-stick of varying flavors in his pocket. Has to keep his lips moist for the ladies, after all. ✧ Pulls the ring pull off the cans he drinks and once done puts the ring pull in the empty can before disposing of it ✦ Never fails that he's always late and it's not that he's sleeping for too long. Tristan is the type that if you tell him that something starts at six, he doesn't actually start getting ready until five-thirty, and don't even think that he's going to rush himself because he needs to look good to show up anywhere. ✧ Is actually pretty darn good at taking apart electronics and putting them back together for his peers, so he keeps a small tool set on him always. ✦ Always a blow pop and it's more than like cherry flavored. Always. ✧ Likes to steal food off of people's plates. If you're supposed to be a friend, then you obviously don't mind if Tristan nabs a few fries...or the whole basket. It depends on how hungry he is.

Talents | Strengths | Skills
Very intelligent and his grades and the fact that he's so verbally facile reflect that. His gifts, though, definitely remain in engineering and robotics, which is definitely what he's interested in for his future. ✦ Charisma. What else is there to say? He's charming. He groomed himself to be so and he knows just the right kind of way to get himself out of trouble and possibly get someone else in trouble, and weasel his way into someone's good graces or bed. ✧ Sex. As ridiculous as it sounds, you can't be considered some kind of player who keeps girls wanting to get with you despite knowing how many hearts you've broken without at least being able to put it down in the bedroom. ✦ Quite confident and sure of himself, and doesn't need anyone else's validation.

Flaws | Weaknesses
Grandiose sense self-worth. While the aforementioned level of intelligence Tristan has is very much real and note-worthy, it becomes less than favorable for any one person to notice on their own because he's too busy making sure that you know that he's gorgeous and a catch, and will break your heart just because he can. Literally, the guy calls himself a god in his head and while he doesn't walk around saying that he's better than everyone, considering the fact that he's a minority breaking stereotypes in a culture ruled by "white mediocrity," he feels that he's better than everyone. ✦ A small one to some, but the fact that Tristan doesn't have any balance when it comes to skating, which is a family pastime during the winter holiday. No matter how much he coaches himself, he just can't stay up for too long without holding the rail. ✧ Is quite cunning, manipulative, sneaky and his favorite pastime is being an instigator. ✦ Finds immense pleasure in getting underneath other people's skin and seeing how they tick. He exploits weaknesses on a regular. ✧ Disregarding other people's feelings unless it somehow benefits him to do the opposite. ✦ Can't cook for shit.

Hobbies
Boxing and sparring ✦ Tinkering with electronics, particularly robotics ✧ Eating ✦ Playing video games ✧ Sex, because regardless of what you say,
it is definitely his hobby.

Fears
Not getting into MIT. ✦ Winding up as another face for the Black Lives Matter movement to cry out about because of an unjust death. It's actually his biggest fear. He hates reading on Facebook the actual facts of black people, especially people his age, who had so much potential and were gunned down for literally no reason. ✧ Being snuck up on. As much as Tristan does have swag and his boxing training should have definitely trained this out of him, all of that shit goes out the window when you sneak up on him. ✦ His mom finding out that he's not as straight as she would like for him to be.

Secrets
The fact that he's not as heterosexual as he likes people to believe. He comes from a very notably Christian household and although the rest of the world is becoming more tolerant (and his father, surprisingly, is a well), his mother is not. She made that clear with his oldest sister, Lisa, which is why they don't see her often now that she's married to another woman. ✦ The fact that he's so smart. Tristan has above a 4.0 cumulative GPA, so he's definitely graduating with honors, but it's not like he goes about letting everyone know it. He's made this persona for himself and doesn't need that ruining things for him. Things just wouldn't be as fun anymore. ✧ His first time after being with his ex-girlfriend had been with her brother.

Goals | Dreams
To create a chain of smart homes, kind of like what Bill Gates has, that can be targeted for providing semi-independent living for the elderly and/or mentally ill adults complete with Artificial Intelligence to act as a sort of companion that can keep doctors and family informed of their conditions. ✦ Go to and complete his secondary education with no student loans to pay back. ✧ Allow his parents to one day retire. ✦ Live in Spain for a year, not for any particular reason, but just to be able to say that he did since some of his classmates have said that they have. ✧ Have the kind of marriage his parents have, even if he's never going to admit this freely.

✦HΙͺsα΄›α΄Κ€Κβœ¦
What would probably drive a lot of Tristan's peers crazy is that their assumptions about his childhood and his family life are ridiculously far from the truth and it honestly makes him laugh how wrong they are. The rumors going through the hall consist of him coming from an emotionally abusive background and that love just didn't exist in his household. It would explain why he goes about breaking hearts left and right; it's because he's never seen a functional, loving relationship before. And that's wrong - so wrong. And a touch racist, but he doesn't exactly spend his entire life calling every white (and/or privileged person on their bullshit. The truth is that - and this would probably knock somebody's socks off - Tristan comes from a rather loving household. In fact, the most drama that there is is between the two boys of the family and that's honestly something to get into later. With his father being a retired military veteran who currently works as a carpenter and his mother currently a family nurse practitioner, he could say that he lived quite averagely for a black kid in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. They weren't rich, nowhere near. They couldn't go on a vacation every single summer when they wanted to. If Tristan ever got anything clothing related that was considered a designer brand, it was because it was on a really good sale and/or his mom had a bomb ass set of coupons to further drop the price. And that was a rarity in and of itself. As soon as Tristan was old enough, he had to start getting summer jobs and even weekend shifts if he really wanted extra spending money. Which he always does, let's be clear. But it was never to the point that he felt poor. It was obvious that his childhood is much different than a lot of the Upper East Side kids he goes to school with, but he was definitely loved. Maybe all of the children couldn't get insurmountable affection and all that good stuff, but there was no denying that he was loved. That he could always be assured that at some point during the week, there was going to be a family meal and at least one parent in the house. And he definitely knew about love. He couldn't go a day without seeing the way his Dad looked at his mom and not know that there was nothing but adoration in his gaze, even during some of his most exhausting of days.

The one thing that distinguished Tristan in his household, though, was his intelligence. It's how he got into St. Jude's, to be quite honest. It was one thing to be a child who caught on in class easily. It was a completely different thing for the maths and sciences to be where he excelled, particularly as they pertained to robotics and engineering. Tristan liked making things. At first, he thought he'd go into construction, like his father. He knew that he could never see himself doing military and having someone yelling his head off, but he could do building. However, all it took was a random decision to enroll into an after school robotics program and that was kind of the end for Tristan. Not many of St. Jude kids know that he's so smart and with his reputation, he's not exactly pressed for them to know. He'd rather low-key break the mold and stereotypes surrounding his person because of the color of skin than do it loudly by proclaiming his smarts. They'll know how wrong they were about him when he's created some big thing. Nevertheless, once two of his teachers along with a principal sat Tristan down to discuss his academic future, his parents (and the other adults) decided that Tristan had what it took to get a scholarship and even extra funding for a more prestigious school befitting of his academic talents. Tristan hadn't really cared. It would suck to not see his neighborhood friends as much since the traveling from school to home would take a lot out of his time, but the idea of something new had sounded good. And St. Jude's seemed cool. He wasn't a fan of having to wear uniforms. Eventually, though, Tristan settled and has done pretty well at St. Jude's. He won't say that he has the highest GPA in his entire class; that's a lot, even for him, and he doesn't love school enough. But he knows he's in the top percentile. He has to be when in a school dominated by (mostly) rich white kids. He has to stand out in some way, even if the way he stands out among his peers isn't the same way he stands out come time for college and the like.

What his classmates probably would love to be assured about is that his seeming carelessness has been influenced by something: heartbreak. As cliche as it sounds. You see, his lack of wealth surely did and still does affect his popularity, and how high he is considered on the social hierarchy. He's definitely in the upper middle and while it has a little to do with the fact that he is actually a guy who cares about his appearance and puts in the effort to make sure that his style does not at all reflect his economic means, what Tristan is popular for is seeking his own pleasure. And if his pleasure is in someone else getting their heart broken because they walked into his bed without realizing that he was never going to be their prince charming, that's unfortunate. You see, Tristan had a growing arrogance from the second it was realized that he was "smart for a black kid," but he was still pretty good. He was flirty, sure, but it all changed when he began secretly dating the former queen bee. She had given him something to aspire to and he had wanted to grow and one day be worthy of her, and what he saw as their future. A bit too optimistic and maybe a touch idealistic and childish, which was something his brother kept telling him. But Tristan had faith...and then her ambitions for her social life and subsequent rise to the throne led to their breakup and it changed him. His brother said he was being dramatic at first, to which Tristan punched him square in the face and to this day, they still have beef. And Tristan's figured this: since he's too young to be thinking about romance and forever, then why bother not going for the thing that most teenage boys want. Sex. It wasn't hard for his arrogance to translate into a touch of vanity. Despite how much his brother (more so than their father) kept reminding him of the stigmas that surrounded being a dark skinned young man - that he was intimidating, not considered as attractive as his counterparts, and always seen as a burgeoning thug of some sort, or aggressive, etc. - Tristan had already noticed that he was kinda cute. Working out wasn't an issue and before long, it was easy for him to put on the mask of a young Lothario. And he doesn't feel any shame for it. Again, obviously that cutesy bullshit his parents on isn't meant for his generation, at least not yet. So why not have some fun at someone else's expense? It's not like the rich kids don't do that anyway when they shove smart guys he could have considered his friend into lockers. Besides, at least he's not one of those poor guys, right?

Leave it to New York to be one of the fewest places during the summer that you don't want to be at in August. Seriously, who the hell told the weather to just drop like that?

Hey, readers, Gossip Girl here and luckily for you, Manhattan's little darlings won't let some small drop in the weather ruin the rest of their summer fun and I'm pretty sure James Airth is going to be the leader of our little motley crew in the next four hours since he's throwing a yacht party. They're disembarking from the Hamptons, so you already know to be prepared for scantily clad minors running around with alcohol they probably stole from mommy and daddy's liquor cabinets. Then again, I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was purchased with mommy and daddy's credit cards, but who am I to judge? As you all already know, I will be one of the first to order one of those succulent apple martinis because love him or hate him, but Airth's bartenders usually make the best martinis. And what will our favorite little darlings be doing in the meantime?

Well, last I checked while Sydney and The New Girl's - and yes, I do know her name, it's just so much more fun to call her The New Girl for a bit longer - parents are still on their honeymoon until the school year starts, you actually haven't seen the two together yet. In fact, you haven't seen them anywhere near each other. I wonder if we should ask Airth about that since Alaina's been getting real chummy with her and he went bowling with those two the other day. And believe it or not, Katherine Arnault is back in town. I know, I know - she just dropped off of the face of the planet and without either of her besties, Alexis or Sydney, at that. Isn't she like, their little lapdog or something? Then again, sweetie's been caught in the worst divorce ever since neither of her girls are talking and isn't Alexis just coming back from vacay? Or are we still not ready to just call it what it probably was, which was rehab? Or damage control? I'm sure we can all find something we can agree upon when referring to our now crown-less diva. Nevertheless, while I myself am getting ready for this yacht party and the jacuzzi that you all know I'm gonna stay in, let's see what our little lovelies can get themselves in to in the meantime.

By now, the annual yacht party that Jameson threw felt like second nature to a point where he wasn't stressed about it. His mother was the one who truly planned in, since he couldn't have cared less about the color of the table cloths in the dining area of the ship, or what was going to be served on the menu, or what brand vodka would be carried. As long as there was a dance floor, DJ, food and booze, he knew it was going to be a good time. Though his family owned boats of their own, they were smaller, and more intimate luxury yachts. Not boats capable of holding one hundred guests. That was why they preferred to charter boats. Having minors drink on a boat that wasn't yours always required some special connections and a little bit of extra money up front in order to have people agree to turn a blind eye on the legality of it, but it always worked out in the end in a world where money equaled power and exemption from the rules subjected on normal people.

With a big party only a few hours away, most people would be busy working out the final details and making sure that everything was in order for the night, but that was the opposite of what James was doing. His mother, still in Manhattan, was probably busy doing all of that (though in Jameson's defense, she actually enjoyed event planning, so he wasn't unfairly subjecting her to any unwanted stress), but he, on the other hand, found himself comfortably lounging on a pool chair outside of his family's Southampton home. Laying on the chair beside him was the beautiful blonde that he was lucky enough to (currently) be calling his girlfriend. Even if he was calling her that, he wasn't sure if he was calling him her boyfriend in return. His relationship with Sydney was a complex one filled with instances of cheating on his part that he was ashamed of (though at the same time, wasn't completely ready to abandon), and instances of cheating on his part that Jameson had no evidence of, but enough gut-feeling to suspect. Why he and Sydney continued to date, especially when their temporary breakups could involve such raw and volatile emotion, James did not know. He knew that he was never going to marry Sydney one day. Their relationship wasn't that deep. Still, though, he liked her. He liked her to a point where when he wasn't officially dating her, he found himself constantly calling and texting her and checking her social media. It was one of those "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" things, where he wanted her more when they were apart than when they were together. That wasn't to say that they were miserable together, or that the whole relationship was a scam to deceive the public eye, because it wasn't that either. Times like now with Sydney were good. They were relaxing, and just living. He knew that she was stressed over the recent issues that had arisen within her girl group of friends, but who could blame her? Jameson wouldn't acknowledge that she was probably stressed about her step family situation as well, because his friendship with Dinah probably contributed to that, so he focused on feeling sympathetic for her revolving around her issues with Kat, but mostly with Alexis. That's why he hoped tonight was relaxing fun. Not the drama-inducing kind of fun that he sometimes liked to watch from the sidelines. Just plain, pure, good fun before school started. He didn't know if it was possible given how his peers tended to be, but a guy could hope.

With a deviant smirk on his face, he got up from his chair and grabbed Sydney's ass as she laid stomach-down on her chair, possibly sleeping. Giving it a nice squeeze, he reminded himself that being able to do that whenever you wanted was one of the best reasons for having a girlfriend. Even if she was crazy. He was still smirking even as he stepped back a few feet from eliminate her from any wrath she might take in her immediate vicinity, and he held his hands up in playful surrender. "Didn't mean to disturb you, Sleeping Beauty. I'm just going inside to grab a drink. Want anything?" He waited for her answer before going inside, fetching himself a water bottle. Sitting out in the sun for a little while had not only left him thirsty and hot, but tired as well. He knew after showering he would perk up and be ready for the night, especially since he had slept in considerably late today. Before returning outside, he answered a few texts his mother had sent him, before texting a few people of his own. Along with some of the guys in his immediate friend group, he texted Tristan, Alaina and Dinah.

To: Alaina
My mom wants to make sure it's clear that unless you're staying at one of your friends houses tn you can stay here. I think I've gotten 20 texts about it within the last hour so text her back Image

To: Dinah
Hey! You already out here? I asked Syd if you were at her dad's house down the street since Ik she was there earlier but she literally ignored me lmao. Feel free to come over if you're out here already though.

To: Tristan

Unlike a number of his classmates, friends and associates, Tristan didn't have the luxury of just being able to enjoy his summer in whatever way that he wanted to. He probably wouldn't have been able to do much in the first place, regardless since neither of his parents had been able to take off of work for them to have much of a vacation, but he definitely hadn't been able to just sit back and relax all summer. Every summer and during weekend shifts if he had the time, he worked at a Publix supermarket in Downtown Brooklyn. He probably could have done a lot more; it was something his mother always pointed out. He could probably charge the rich students at St. Jude's or even at Constance for his tutoring services since they more than likely could afford it as opposed to just being given such services for free. But life was life and he appreciated having a job he always knew he could depend upon, especially one with decent benefits like with Publix. At least he could trust, if God forbid he didn't get the scholarships he would need for college, them to help out when it was time for him to go off to school. It also worked in his favor that one of the general managers lived a few houses down from him and could give him rides home when his shifts ran a little late on non-school weeks.

By the time Tristan had gotten James' text, he was ending his eight forty-five to one forty-five shift. It wasn't as long as he liked, especially considering the pay, but it was satisfactory enough. Especially pay day had been yesterday, which meant that he currently didn't feel poor. It was easy to walk around not feeling the weight of how much more wealthier his classmates were than him by projecting the same dignified air that they did; it was invigorating to actually feel like he had something, even if it was nowhere near the magnitude of their parents' bank accounts. And to be able to say that, unlike his peers, Tristan made his own money and didn't exactly have to always answer about what he spent it on was the greatest feeling. He changed out of his work uniform and into some casual clothes, sliding his shades before whipping his phone back out to text James back, lingering on the message from Gossip Girl.

To: James
Just dont forget who got laid dat nite Image also when u gonna introduce me 2 da new gurl?? Cuz GG got pics of her n i'll smash if u dont

While there were a lot of people who were tired of Gossip Girl's antics, what Tristan wouldn't do was lie and say that he wasn't intrigued by the page, the information it provided, and also the situations its content always grudged up. Even if the drama the posts alluded to weren't exactly as big as GG wanted everyone to believe, it never failed that someone made their situation worse, which meant a cat-fight or more rumors. And far more entertainment for Tristan than he sometimes knew what to do with. The kids that he rolled with - the ones he sat in classes with or in that one favorite lunch spot during the school year that you could always catch a St. Jude and a Constance kid at - could all pretend that their prestige and wealth shielded them from any and everything, even their own antics. Yet, somehow or another, they allowed themselves to be toyed with by an anonymous writer who just knew them. Knew their lovers and real friends, their fake friends and addictions - just knew everything. And it was invigorating for Tristan, realizing that there was so much dirt to be found out. It made him feel less inferior, like they were definitely more like him and any other regular kid on the street than they probably would want. So, he had no shame in checking Gossip Girl every day and laughing to himself about what was written for that day. Chuckling lightly, Tristan was about to tuck his phone away when his stomach grumbled, so he figured he could grab an actual bite to eat since he didn't need to be worried about James' party just yet. And he could always hit up a late lunch with friends, particularly Jax who he didn't hesitate to text. Besides, who turned down Johnny's Pizzeria?

To: Jax
Yo im headed to johnnys 4 sum mozzarella stix. U in?

James received answers to his text messages pretty quickly, and he sent back responses as he retrieved a water bottle for himself, before filling a glass with ice water and a lemon for Sydney.

To: Tristan
She'll be at the party tonight. I'm not looking to hookup with anyone other than Syd lol so go for it

His response to Tristan was easy. He didn't know Dinah that well where he felt like he needed to be introducing her to everyone that he knew. It would have been one thing if they were friendly and she wasn't related to Sydney, or if they were friendly and she was still related to Sydney, but got along with Sydney. Then, it would have been easier for him to integrate her into her social circle and welcome her into the scene. That wasn't the case though, and right now, he really wanted this relationship to work with Sydney. She had her flaws, but she was still the most coveted girl in school. She was beautiful, smart, and his family liked her. He could overlook those flaws for the rest of the year, because once school ended, he knew that it was a given that they would part ways. All he had to do was keep up the relationship image for the rest of the year, and he would be good. Besides, it wasn't like he was doing it for just the image. He and Sydney did have something real there. There was a spark. It just... sometimes they brought out the worst in each other. Jameson knew that acting too chummy with Dinah would bring him nothing but trouble, so while he was content with pushing his limits to a point where the two would become friends this year, he also wasn't going to go above and beyond. That was why after reading Dinah's text message, he regretted inviting her over. Call it the thoughtless tendencies of a teenage boy, but he hadn't considered that Sydney wouldn't be happy with him for including Dinah. If Dinah was warning him against talking about her around Sydney, then he knew that inviting her over would only be trouble. Trouble he didn't need to deal with hours before his party.

To: Dinah
If you think Syd will be mad then let's rain check hanging out. I didn't realize you guys still aren't in a good place and don't want any unnecessary drama lol. Alaina's coming over before the party if you wanna come over then when it'll be less awkward and tense

His summer may have been more eventful than most, but not eventful enough. Not for Jaxon Heize, who thrived on having so much to do he can hardly breathe. Mr. Busy body was not quite as busy as previous summers and it made him restless. Sure, he kept up his usual schedule booze and sex, but what else was there? It was dramatically boring to say the least, but what summer wouldn't be after what had happened the one before? Of which the aftermath is still lurking around. And with the return of Gossip Girl, it was much too easy for his name to boomerang from mouth to mouth. It might as well have been up on Billboards, written in shimmery lights and all it's glamour, because as much as people pretended not to care nor believe what the notorious Gossip Girl said, they sure as hell knew things down to the very detail. Jaxon, on the other hand, knew what he was involved in and nothing more, nor did he ever care to know about other people's petty dilemmas. Yet someone, and ironically enough, someone always managed to involve him. Because really, who else could they put the shame on other than the shameless?

Which is why when he was so rudely accused of releasing the sex tape with miss Alexis ex-royalty Leon, he hadn't even bothered to defend himself. What for? If there is one thing Jaxon Heize has always been known for is doing as he pleases, when he pleases, simply because it pleases him. He wasn't going to apologize for that. Had he enjoyed sleeping with Alexis? Well, let's just say he'd be a fat ass liar if he said he hadn't. SHould he have slept with her? No, probably not. Especially considering her history with his former friend, who was now blocking him out entirely based on his own twisted perception of what happened. It didn't matter that Jaxon hadn't been the one to release the recordings of their one nigh stand, because everyone and their mamas were convinced that he did and who's to try and convince them otherwise. You know what they say; If life gives you lemons, grab some tequila and salt.

After a while, most either moved on to something bigger and better or simply lost interest, looking for new and fresh gossip. But some, not to state names but a certain ex-royalty and a grudge-holding teen dad, made it quite clear that they hadn't moved on. Unlike Jaxon, who really let bygones be bygones in order to have a good rest of the summer. He fully intended on going to James' annual yacht party later tonight, complete with pregame and all the works. Unlike Valentino, James still acknowledged Jaxon's existence. "Alright, I think she's good to go!" the blonde announced, pushing himself from underneath the 1972 Mercedes Benz he'd been working on for over an hour now. An old piece of junk, but still salvageable. He tapped the faded red paint of the hood a few times and watched with a proud smirk as his boss Mark started the engine, bringing the lifeless pile of metal back to life. "A real miracle." the older man clapped as he stepped out of the vintage vehicle. Jaxon exhaled a chuckle. "It's called skill, last I checked." Jax has always loved mechanics, with cars especially. Second to music, it's his favorite pastime. That's really all this job is, anyway. It's not like he needs the money, but it keeps him busy and useful.

"Alright, alright. Don't get too cocky now." Mark warned before sending him home for the day. Not that he planned on being home for long, possibly only long enough to figure out where to next. Given he didn't find something on his way there, which he did. Or rather, the something found him. His bright blues scanned over Tristan's message, barely reading the words before typing out a response.

To: Trix
MSG: What kind of question is that? Be there in 10

To: James
Rlly?? Dude did u leave or sumthing??

It wouldn't have occurred to Dinah that James was actually still in the house and just refusing to have her inside. She wasn't aware that he was that shitty just yet, just absentminded and careless. It would make sense to her brain that perhaps he wasn't there, which was why the guard said no one was allowed to be buzzed in, and not because James was actually inside with Sydney, and didn't want to have his girlfriend go off on him. He hadn't read her first message from what she could see, so Dinah had nothing else to go off of in this situation. It didn't, however, not make something drop in the pit of her stomach, an uneasiness that had her not responding to Alaina in the way that she would have prior to the current series of events.

To: Alaina
nvrmind. its nothing. ill c u tn

Dinah wasn't what one would call a particularly emotional person and something like this was not bound, in any way, to make her cry. But it was a stark reminder that this wasn't her home, her people, and these were not her friends. She already had known that, but severity of that knowledge had only slowly begun to permeate her consciousness. She wasn't an overly self-conscious person. Dinah didn't spend her life faltering in her steps nor being weighed down by what she called unnecessary insecurities. There wasn't going to be another person who looked exactly like her, so why be ashamed of her darker complexion and natural hair? Or even not being as skinny as some of her other friends have been? But all of those were superficial insecurities she learned to shove away. This was new. This was a sense of belonging and she hadn't fully gotten that since being in New York. New York had just been an interesting place to visit whenever her father brought her along or her grandmother decided she wanted to see snow in a different place than on the West Coast. New York had always been a stop on the map, but never a permanent location...until now. And it wasn't Dinah's location. And she hadn't been confronted with that fact so much as she had been in this one moment where someone she thought was a friend dissed her. She didn't know for a fact that James had just dissed her, but it felt like it.

But again, Dinah wasn't an overly emotional person. Even though she felt the random, sharp sting at the back of her eyes, she released a heavy breath and shrugged to Greg in a what-can-you-do-manner. Besides, the situation was a reminder that she need not "Guess I'm shit outta luck," she shrugged, not really expecting an answer. The older guy, more than likely in his early thirties, gave her an apologetic and patient look. He was nice and he hadn't even been in Dinah's presence for too long for her to know it, but she felt it in his kind blue gaze. "So, what do you want to do, Miss Irving?" Dinah quirked her lips in consideration, phone already having notified her of Kat's text while she was looking up shops nearby to entertain herself with. "Cold Stones?" Greg's answering grin made Dinah smile just as brightly.

As soon as he had sent his text out to Jaxon, Tristan was already summoning an Uber. He knew that the bus or train could have aided in his travels, but there was something about waiting for them - especially since he didn't feel like being disappointed by the online schedule at that particular moment - when he was already hungry that didn't sit right with him. Besides, as he had figured it would be, it wasn't time for surge pricing just yet, so he was willing to pay the four dollars and fifty five cents to get to Johnny's. Johnny's was worth it anyway and he probably would've went even if Jax hadn't agreed to be down for the cause. It just so happened that the blonde was and who was Tristan to not want some company while he chowed down on some mozzarella sticks?

To: Jax
C u soon

On the way, Tristan laughed to himself about James' current desire to be the good guy. It was honestly laughable. As a person already filed under the category of shitty guys that girls still wanted to get with despite knowing that they were shitty, James was higher up on the list than he obviously wanted to believe or acknowledge. The dude could still get some ass, that much was certain. Regardless of how much they wanted to be mad about being used and all that, the same girls who would whine to their crew one day were the same ones thirsting after the exact same kind of guys that hurt them before, knowing damn well the guys were drawn to formulating friendships with one another for a reason. Shittiness attracts/begets/whatever-word-you-wanna-use shittiness, that was how Tristan rationalized it. So, it was laughable that James could honestly tell himself that he was all for Sydney now after the shit they had been through. Tristan was a lot of things, but the one thing he had never been was the person who had cheated on someone. Granted, his only real relationship had been with Alexis, but it had never occurred to him to step out on someone. He might currently be one of the guys girls were convinced that they could step out on their significant others with, but he didn't do the cheating, mostly because he didn't delude himself into thinking that he was for relationships at the moment. Tristan honestly saw it all crashing and burning for James in the future when it came to Sydney. But he was going to take this "permission" to go after Dinah as what it was. Eventually, Tristan had arrived at Johnny's and got a table by the window, not even hesitating to go ahead and order himself both french fries and mozzarella sticks, and a Sprite.

To: James

CALI || KWON
Location: Group Therapy | Manhattan, NY
Dialogue Color: #FF8000

β€œI’m not sure if Javi should forgive Regina or if I should kill her before he has the chance.” Cali sprawled across a gorgeous white couch, her red bottom heels hanging off the armrest. The tip of her tongue poked out from between her lips as she read off of her phone screen. She had been working on this story for almost a year and she was close to finishing it. A part of her was excited to being so close to the end, but the rest of her was frustrated as shit when it came to actually resolving the warzone of drama she had created. Should Javi resolve the issues between himself and his best friend/romantic rival, Regina? No, that would feel too cheap. She would need to put in another chapter or two to really build towards their reunion. But, then again, she could put in that work and, right before they mend their broken friendship, kill one of them and deny the reader any closure. She snickered. That could be dope.

β€œIs Regina the one who set Krispy Kreme on fire?” Gabe asked from his closet, his voice calling over the sound of rustling clothes and hangers.. β€œOr was that the other girl?”

β€œYeah, that was Cara. Regina slept with his boyfriend.”

β€œEthan? He died in a car accident, right?”

β€œExactamundo, mi amigo.”

β€œWow, you’ve been practicing your spanish. I’m so proud.” As Gabe emerged, he saw his step-daughter wrinkle her nose. His eyebrows raised in concern. β€œWhat?”

β€œAre we in 1940’s Paris, drinking coffee and fighting Nazis with spoken word? No? Take off the beret.” Cali shook her head disapprovingly. She tossed her phone to the side and swung her legs around, standing up to get a closer look. This was about to get serious. Cali grabbed her chin and looked him up and down. β€œThat jacket’s okay, but a little casual for a red carpet. And that blouse underneath? Awful.”

Gabe frowned, looking down at himself. β€œDamn.”

She patted him on the back. β€œIt’s okay, little buddy.” She wrapped one arm around his back and turned him, steering him back to the closet. β€œYou can try again. See if you like that dark suit I picked out for you.” Cali pushed him towards the door, swatting his butt as he walked away.

Cali threw herself back on the couch and grabbed her phone. She looked at her story again, rereading the last few lines. She narrowed her eyes, hoping that if she concentrated hard enough, words would type themselves onto the page. There was a loud ding and a vibration in her hand.

From: Elena!
Hey, Sis! I’m in town for a photoshoot and I’m free for the rest of the day! Want to meet? Johnny’s? My treat!

Cali smiled. It had been about three months since she’d seen Elena had last visited and a couple weeks since she had bother to text her adoptive sister. It wasn’t like they grew up together, but the two girls had such an intense connection when they lived under the same roof. It devastated Cali when she moved out and, although she worked hard not to show it, she resented Elena for leaving her behind. Her thumbs danced across the glass screen.

To: Elena!

Wassup! I’m helping Gabe rn, but we’re almost done! I’ll leave in a few

β€œOkay, you were right.” Gabe came out, dressed in a beautiful suit that she had picked out earlier. Sure, her father had helped her find it, but if Gabe knew, that may discredit her skill as fashionista. He looked at himself in the full body mirror across from him. β€œI love this subtle floral pattern.”

Cali laughed as she jumped up. β€œWhat can I say? I’m gifted.”

A bit later, Cali walked into Johnny’s, her white pumps clicking against the tile floor. The oversized padlock on her necklace swung as she looked around for Elena. When she didn’t see her, her lips pursed, slightly disappointed. She looked at her phone, but saw no missed messages. She looked around once more, seeing Tristan waiting for his food. She smiled and walked over, plopping herself down in the chair across from him.

β€œHey hey hey.” She placed her phone on the table. β€œFancy seeing you here. Love the shorts, by the way.”

Okay, so lovelies, the reason that I absolutely love yacht parties isn't even the opulence of the ships. It's not the margaritas, though I will tell you that these apple margaritas are literally to die for!! What I love so much is that there's literally no place to run. On land, you always have the option of leaving. You're upset? Someone stepped on your Jimmy Choos? You found out that Ashley has totally been making out with Jake behind your back even though she swore that she didn't because she knew you were just waiting on making your move on him? You get to leave. You get to about face and run all the way home to mommy and daddy, and cry into your Egyptian cotton and wait for the next day to pretend like nothing had ever happened. Your reputation remains pristine. With yacht parties, as fun as they are, the drama is even more fun because you have nowhere to go. Oh, you can go on another part of the ship. You can even hope and pray that one of the state rooms are still available so you can blow off some steam. But at the end of the day, more than likely, they're not available and like or not, the person you don't like is going to be in the same vicinity as you. And I am forever living for the insurmountable possibilities that situations like these can bring!

Nevertheless, it's been about an hour or so since the good charmer Jim Jam - come on, you all were thinking it too - had us all set sail and I don't know guys...the party's great and all, but don't things feel a bit...tense? Maybe because the good sis Alexis Leon surprised everyone by showing up tonight and looking mighty fine. One might even say she makes for a better blonde than Queen S...of course, one would say that if they weren't deathly afraid of getting their eyes scratched out. Then again, I'm pretty sure the host isn't having too good of a day either. I mean, I know it's not a big deal cuz she's new and not really as important because she hasn't really done anything - and I'm in serious need of the entertainment if she's gonna do something - but new girl definitely swerved him. That's the word, right? I'm not exactly hip to all this young people linguo. But anyway, that definitely happened and it might not seem like much, but not many girls - or any, to be quite honest - swerve the good charmer. And I'm sorry, but if I see a girl put her finger up at him of all guys so that he can't say a word, and then proceed to walk away without giving him the time of day. And go out on the dance floor and dance with - out of everyone - the player?? I'm of the right mind to speculate that something juicy's probably gonna pop off. Maybe she got tired of playing the other woman?? I'm also not so sure, but I honestly could've sworn I saw Alaina and Katherine coming out of a building in Manhattan together earlier today. Is the old queen's return the only thing the new queen's gotta worry about? Cuz I spy with my little eye a possible new bestie for baby Arnault. But I could be wrong...we'll just have to see.
