Years ago, it was discovered that humans and animals are not the only creatures to inhabitant this earth. There is actually a race out their that cannot be classified as human, nor animal, but something somewhat fantastic. They were once called the Others, but today, we call them the Graced. People, with advanced abilities beyond that of our comprehension. Abilities to to things that defied the laws by which we'd shaped our world.
Humans were not excited to find out that, for years, there has been a race with the potential to destroy them with a mere thought, should they wish it. They'd thought they had their world under their thumbs. At their disposal. It was theirs to command.
But oh, were they so wrong.
And oh, did it, not only anger, but frighten them.
Hastily, seeing these creatures as possible threats, despite the fact that they had yet to be discovered let alone cause significant harm to the human race, humans set out in the hopes of achieving one of two goals. The first, was to understand these creatures, and, failing that, the second was to destroy. So, for three years, which is what is now referred to as The Collecting by those who remember it or were affected by it, human officials secretly gathered together thousands of these innocent mutants and forced them into their top secret laboratories. Where they studied them like lab rats. The very nicest of these facilities was still far from humane.
When an American lab was attacked by a group of Gracelings merely trying to get their loved ones home and to safety, it was the final straw. The order went out and, for six years, or, what is now called The Purge, every last Graceling was rounded up and slaughtered. Secretly of course. Until they'd gotten all of them. And the threat was gone. They could go back to living in oblivious peace. Or so they thought.
You see, it's fairly difficult to wipe out an entire race. Especially one accustomed to blending. There will always be survivors. And their were. Years went by and these Gracelings were all but forgotten, the files on these creatures classified above top secret, the American facilities fallen into disuse.
You see, the truth is, these Graced still exist. They still walk among us, hiding, laying low, blending. Most, with their families destroyed, entire lineages wiped out in The Purge, have fallen to the lower rungs of society, resulting in crime. Others play the dangerous game of bribery with the government. Others still take even bolder risks, secretly using their Graces to bring themselves fame and fortune.
But, no matter their social status, most get caught. And are instantly thrown into the last of the Graceling facilities, disguised as a government prison for only the top level offenders of the law, the humans are using this old forgotten Graceling Research Lab to contain those they can find that were left behind in The Purge. If a Graceling is discovered, the government will stop at nothing to convict them of crimes they may or may not have committed in order to obtain the justification to throw them into this place and contain them, not totally sure what to do with them.
The building is the best place to keep them for, not only is it top secret, it's also built like a fortress, but, more importantly, holds the most advanced technology for containing these creatures. No where else in the world can you find a bunker built solidly enough to contain hundreds of mutants with powers to bend the very laws of the universe at their will. Each room is specially designed for it's occupant. The place is inescapable.
Or so they thought.
A group of six Graced have managed to trick the seemingly unbeatable system and get free. So they're free. But what does that mean?

Collectibles
