Introduction
However, these creatures became extinct when hit by what could only be called, in human terms, a plague. Yet these creatures where not human, and illness was not known to them until that time, which, coincidentally enough, also occurred at the same time as the Black Plague in Medieval Europe. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.
Only the elder Soul Guardians remain today, and, with all their history, are considered nothing more than mere stories. They are few and scattered; their power has weakened, but is still strong enough for a last stand. Some are convinced that something in the human heart allows their charges, who once feared them, to at least want to believe in their existence once more. After all, it has been humanity’s adaptability that has granted it survival.
The threat of another disaster that would wipe out the legendary Soul Guardians for good looms heavily. Some have sworn that their loved ones did not succumb to plaque, but to assassination – and that the assassination attempts will not cease until the last Soul Guardian falls. Others claim that the illness is no coincidence. Many suspect that perhaps the mysterious plaque IS the assassination. Thus, it has been decided by the Elder Council that they would make themselves known once more to the world of men. To remain lost in myth means continuing to allow themselves to atrophy, so either choice could spell destruction. Only one provides a chance for a new life for all.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 1 authors

Jack Frost stepped out into the cold winter night, where the temperature dropped below freezing point after sunset this time of year. A light frost, barely visible, spread across the rocky outcrop of the narrow entrance. The darkness cast deep shadows over his body, so that only his clothes seemed a light patch against them from a distance, and the silver glinted like snow when it caught the light of the full moon or one of the countless stars. At the moment, Jack’s beautiful winter coat was draped over one shoulder, revealing the kaftan and black slacks underneath – peasants’ dress, some might say, but so well-made that none who saw him dare make such an accusation.
He stood there for a minute, taking in the glorious night, which seemed pleasantly cool to him. The chill air left no goosebumps on his skin as he breathed in, just to take in the scent of it all. Jack Frost was not one to frequent deserts, not even on chill winter nights such as this. He did so only for gatherings such as this, and the rare visit for . . . personal reasons.
