Ciara Alexandra Faye

The opposite sides of a coin tell two differing tales of one entity. Such is true of the light and dark sides of the soul.

0 · 455 views · located in Earth

a character in “Guardians of the Zodiac”, as played by Fabricator

Description

1. Name
Ciara Alexandra Faye but most people call her Lexi Faye, because I don't believe in the free knowledge of my name

2. Zodiac Sign
Libra

3. Age
24

4. Gender
Female.

5. Picture
Image

6. Personality:
A blend of strong morals and honour, tempered by an almost childlike innocence Alexandra comes across and naive to many. Her personality is a slight contradiction as her mood swings back and forth, but she has spent the majority of her life hiding this flaw and learning to control her moods and maintain her lighter outward appearance.
She always likes to see both sides in everything, even if she already knows what the outcome is, she would prefer to hear how it could reach that. Very reluctant to go out shopping for anything overly flamboyant she tends to visit small shops from time to time and mostly buys what she needs at the local market, mainly as She sees it as a waste of her time to constantly be spending money on the latest fashions or the must have gadgets; citing it as "pointless shopping beyond her needs."

7. Bio
Alexandra was raised as a orphan, travelling from foster home to foster home, never able to properly settle down. Always with a sense of honour and justice she tried to protect any children she met who she perceived as being on the receiving end of injustice, mostly during her time back within the system between homes. However during her darker moments she would bring retribution down on those in the wrong; this became more and more highlighted as her personality developed a slightly reversing streak depending on her mood, which began to swing from high to low with increasing regularity.
Her foster care started when she was 8 following the death of her parents, as no relatives could be found she was lost to the system. Not long after she met a boy by the name of Lucas, who she developed a close tie with, since they both used to sneak away from any foster families to spend time together. He used to nickname her Athena as He always found her need to right wrongs funny, and knew the comparison annoyed her. Especially because of the weird birthmark between her shoulder blades in the shape of Libra.
When she was 14 she had worked hard through several schools and homes to advance her learning and to control her mood swings. But it was during this time that she lost touch with Lucas as the foster agency pulled him from his current family. About 6 months later She was brought into the foster agency herself, and told that her Grandfather had been located. Having been trying to track her down for the past 3 years since he had learned of his daughters death, he took her with him back to Scotland.
When she first went to university in England she studied Law, taking it for a year before dropping out and switching to put herself through a media qualification and eventually gaining a masters degree in Music and Media.
Currently she works as a freelance media artist in South Korea, but frequently travels elsewhere for work as well as to visit colleagues and friends.

8. Element: Air
When she channels her elemental power her eyes mist over, and her hair billows out behind her. The air around her begins to highten, and depending on her mood it is filled with differing scents; from sweet smelling flowers to dank rotted leaves.

9. Other: (Anything else?)
Collects items which reflect the balance inherent within life; for example her house is filled with various items, such as scales, coins, and hourglasses.
Bears a birthmark between her shoulder blades in the shape of Libra, with the Omega above the line.

10. Theme:

11. May I use this character in the book "Guardians of the Zodiac" that will be made?
Can this perhaps be explained? But I don't see any reason why not, so long as I would be credited with the character.

So begins...

Ciara woke up to the sound of The Eagles ringing inside her head and telling her to take it easy. After fumbling around the floor she found her alarm clock, her earlier swipe towards the device having failed to achieve her goal to silence it, instead having simply moved it further beyond her reach.

She sighed to herself as she pulled out from the tangled mess of bed sheets that her sleep had created before sitting on the side of the bed for several moments. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts could she stood up and grabbed her dressing gown from its hanger on her wardrobe.

She headed to the bathroom to shower before the day ahead; running the shower as she tuning her music player attached to the wall to play some more of The Eagles before getting under the water. After ensuring that she was clean and fresh, Ciara towelled herself off as she made her way back to her room to get dressed. After grabbing and putting on a pair of loose fitting jeans and a baggy t-shirt she wandered downstairs to cook breakfast while she waited on her computer starting.

“Just another day at the office” She chuckled to herself as she began to make Eggy-in-the-basket and bacon sandwiches to start her morning.

(OOC: sorry about that, didn't realize that it had posted that earlier, just finished writing up something to put in this post.)

Ciara sat clicking her tongue softly as she scrolled through the audio files she was working on, syncing it with the inverted track. And then lining it up

"Well once again they've just submitted a tiny variation and called it a new track." She sighed shaking her head "Seems to work all the same."

Picking up her cup of tea from the desk She leant back in her chair, swivelling around before sipping the sweet tea. The steam rising from the cup slowly began to swirl around the desk, causing her to tilt her head, mouth opening slightly in confusion.

"What on Ear-"

In the space of a heartbeat she was thrown out of her chair as the room was filled with winds the force of a hurricane, with her spiralling in the eye of this controlled storm, sparks of lightning rippling down her arms and jumping from her hands as the storm began to degrade around her.

"ARRRGGHHH AHH" She screamed, waving her arms wildly, her body twisting and convulsing with her cries of agony as she was plucked from within the eye and thrown from one end of the room to the other as the power of the storm escalated again before crashing into the window and shattering the glass then flying into the wall and back into her couch; finally landing with a thud on the soft rug.

"uh... oww." she mumbled softly into the fabric beneath her. "This can't be happening" she growled as she began to raise her head slightly from the floor.

In response to her fury and pain fuelled words the storm rushed down, pinning her forcibly to the ground before flipping her over. Her final thought before her blood and tear stained vision went black chilled her to her core.

Was she somehow responsible?

Ciara's eyelids fluttered slightly, parting the matted blood and sweat. Coughing loudly to dislodge more from her lips she dizzily raised herself slowly onto her elbows. Shaking her head slightly to reorder her thoughts she pushed herself a little higher before collapsing back down face first with a groan; having hit something hard directly above her head.

"uh... whut?" She mumbled as she rolled slightly to her left and looked up at whatever it was she'd hit her head on "Well... Thats unexpected..." she giggled to herself for several minutes before she snapped at herself to get a grip and take several deep breaths to regain control.

Slowly, wincing and shaking with cold and uncertainty she pulled herself into a sitting position; absently wiping the blood from her face and arms away using her hands, with little success. Leaning carefully to either side, scrunching her face slightly in pain at the movement, taking in the sight before in as best she could and trying to make as good an evaluation that she could. 'After all' she thought 'either it really is here... or I'm actually in a padded cell by now' She turned her head to the other side again before giving up.

She'd decided that, against all reason; though as she was covered in cuts, bruises and blood after being the focus point of a storm it was slightly futile to apply reason and logic to this situation, that a pair of masterfully, and ornately designed scales (as far as she could tell) were now taking centre stage in the ruin and wreckage that was now her living room.

It was oddly designed for a set she decided, being made from what she guessed seemed to be Ebony and Ivory, with the materials forming an exact mirror of each other to reflect the opposite scales of the set, with the Ebony side inlaid with mother of pearl and obsidian on the ivory side.

"Right... So today has been rather strange, I should most likely be freaking out..." she mulled that over for awhile "So why am I not... Perhaps its because you are more intrigued that afraid. Well that is of course a possibility. Then there is the fact you were controlling that storm earlier." There was a moments pause as her brain played that sentence back again before the penny dropped. "Oh Damn! I was wasn't I?! What the hell?! How?!" she screamed jumping to her feet before crying out in pain as more tears welled up in her eyes.

"OK deep breaths, deep breaths!" she repeated almost hysterically to herself as she hopped from one foot to the other, half biting her lip as every inch of her was in pain.

"I need to think about it logically. I think I'd like a cup of tea. cleaning up and trying to calm down could always help. A cup of tea would help calm me down. Now is not the time for that. You know it would help. Alright alright! I give in, maybe it would help." Sighing to herself in defeat she hobbles over to the kitchen, and after breaking two cups and spilling the sugar due to her hands shaking, one from shock and the other from several cuts and bruises running up the full length as they began turning purple-y black, she finally managed to make a cup of earl grey.

Breathing deeply as she drank her tea Ciara noticed the swirl of steam rising from the cup had begun the spiral around her slowly. Frowning slightly she carefully put down her cup and focused on the pattern the wisp-like tendrils were making through the air. ”I wonder…” As she watches, the pattern changes, slowly forming the shape of Libra, then a set of scales and finally a cup of tea; all of which look similar in design to the shapes found when staring up at the clouds.

”Why am I still so strangely calm about this… Maybe it has something to do with it feeling so natural. That’s a good possibility I’ll admit.” Shrugging slightly she leans back against the kitchen bench, sipping her tea for a moment before catching a glance of her reflection in the mirror. A slightly puzzled look creeping across her face for a moment as her forehead wrinkles before she jerks her head to look fully in the mirror.

“What the hell?!” she screamed before turning her head this way and that, her fingers running through her hair as she examined every inch. Her hair, usually a pitch black now had several streaks of bright white highlighting it.

“Ok ok that’s a bit creepy, what’s happening to me? I don’t really want white hair but I suppose it doesn’t look as bad. Other than the fact I’ve got white hair! Well, it looks rather alluring some might say.” She paused for a moment to catch her breath before continuing with a sarcastic tone “Yeah… Sure it does, the hair I always wanted.”

While her dialogue with herself had progressed and her mood heightening the air around her had begun to stir, whipping at the tattered parts of her clothing and causing some of the ruin of the room to collapse. The winds that buffeted her and her possesions seemed to be whispering a word on the edge of hearing, a word she’d often heard on the wind when her imagination played tricks on her. Libra. But not like this, not repeated forever and more inside her skull as the winds picked up around her, almost imploring for her attention as the winds almost took on the appearance of a multitude of faces screaming at her.

”ENOUGH!” She shouted, causing the air around her to still, misting the room for a second as it thickened before dissipating again. More than a little freaked out her breathing had quickened again, causing her to twitch a little and bite her lip before getting control again. Taking a deep calming breath she walked back to the set of scales and sat down with her legs crossed in front of them.

“I may be going mad and for all I know I already have, but I think this could work.”

Sighing to herself rests her arms on her knee with the palms of her hands turned upwards with fingers outstretched.
”I think I’m the one who should be in control here, though I’m not sure how too yet. Of course you are girl, it’s simple, take control. Well obviously that’s the answer, why didn't I think of that? Other than I did of course. Now I know the scales represent balance, but they’re tipped because my head hit them. But which way did I move the balance, to law or to chaos, or did I move it towards something interesting? It’s only a slight move after all, surely that can’t mean much…”

Shaking her head Ciara closes her eyes and flexes her fingers slightly, a pale glow begins tracing along the skin of her hands. The glow around her right hand darkening slightly while the one around her left grows brighter; Jerking suddenly she opens her eyes and stares at her hands, which are now hovering over each of the scales platforms. The slightly lowered side is now filled with a dark orb of cloud while the risen one is filled with a pale storm of light and swirling winds.

“Now I’m scared…” she croaks before coughing to clear her throat.
Carefully she reaches into her jeans pocket and gets out her phone, cycling through her phone-book till she gets to emergency services but just as she’s about to hit dial a call comes in, causing her to answer a call from an unknown person instead of making the call she was attempting too.

“um hello? Who’s This?”

"Hello? Who is this? What do you want?" She growled, annoyed at being interrupted when she needed to speak to someone familiar.

"Lexi? Is that you?" Spoke a man on the other end of the phone.

Ciara almost fell to her knees at the sound of the voice, tears coming to her eyes "Oh thank god! Grandfather! I'm scared, the house is in ruins, something happened and I couldn't control it. and it was all so fast and then there was this screaming and my hairs went white!!! I found these scales and now my birthmark is in pain and my head aches and my body feels like I'm in a windstorm or a gentle breeze... I just don't know..."

"I need you to listen to me very carefully, please. She nodded to herself slowly, her babbling having died down as he spoke. "It will be fine my dear; calm down and do not worry. I have arranged for transport to bring you back here, I need to know you are safe. Just control it if you can Lexi, I know you will be able to. I cannot explain it over the phone, it is not secure enough. I had hoped, prayed and begged even that it would not happen yet, but it has and we will have to deal with it."

"But But... What? 'Deal with it'? That's what you're telling me to do?" her voice rising as her panic took hold.

"No. I am telling you to come back here, because it is very dangerous for you right now, for you and for the others." He replied calmly, trying to get through to her in her current state.

"What others? Well of course there would be others. Do you mean I'm not the only one, that this is happening to someone else? Perhaps another eleven." she queried with confused concern.

"I am unable to explain just yet, please get yourself packed and ready. There should be a car there shortly to take you to the airport. I have made arrangements for you to get here. Please just trust me, you are the defender of mankind and I know you will be strong for me." He whispers softly

"I'll try... I do trust you, just want you're saying doesn't make sense and I'm just lost. I'll be ready, I'll be strong for you."

"I knew you would my dear. I'll speak to you soon. Goodbye"

"Bye..." she mumbled as the line went dead. Lowering her phone slowly she just stared at it for a few moments before shaking herself out of her reprieve. Getting to her feet she runs upstairs for a carry-all bag and begins to pack up a couple of changes of clothes, going primarily for slight contrasts in their styles. Next she sorts out her laptop before grabbing her radio from the shower and putting those and her alarm clock into the bag, as well as a few books from her collection. She then grabs her travel bag, a rucksack filled with a dozen different media devices from voice recorders to MP3 players, and packs the set of scales into it carefully, checking that her tablet and other items are still stored inside. After ensuring that everything is ready she picks up the coin necklace from her dresser, staring at it for along time before putting it around her neck and heading back downstairs.

Chuckling to herself in a tone that verges on hysterical she sighs and sits down in her desk chair, curled up with her arms wrapped around her legs. As she sits there she picks up her headphones, slinging them round her neck as she always does when she heads out, before connecting them to her media-player and placing it inside her pocket so that she has music playing softly on the edge of hearing to chill her nerves; trying to ignore the faint tears trickling down her cheeks, as today has shaken her to the core.

After twenty minutes of waiting, her transport arrives in the form of a black car with a silent driver which takes her to the local airport; where she is met by a sober man in a suit who introduces himself as her guide. Following the guide, somewhat bewildered, she is directed straight through customs, they seem to wave her through with easy; barely acknowledging her passport or details. After awhile she is driven out to what can only be described as a private jet, causing her to shake slightly as her mouth opens slightly, causing her face to twitch in disbelief. Her life with her grandfather was somewhat wealthy but never to this extent, especially since she had never been a fan of too much extravagance, even if she secretly enjoyed it sometimes.

After being seated aboard with just her and the guide, who goes into the cockpit leaving her alone, she just sits there staring straight ahead while her hands, seemingly of their own accord lift her headphones up and over her ears, her fingers then reach down to turn up her music. As the plane begins to take off she starts shaking as she rocks back and forth in the chair, the weight of the day hitting her hard as she sobs herself to sleep on the flight.

The plane landed in Japan a little under two hours later, while Ciara continued to sleep. The guide however had departed to continue his instructions, having received a call during the flight there.

The passenger compartment of the plane echoed with the loud bang of the door slamming shut, jolting Ciara from her slumber.

"Whu- what?" she mumbles half-asleep before shaking her head slightly and yawning loudly. Slowly rubbing the remains of sleep from her eyes she begins to stretch her body in an attempt to bring back some feeling before standing up to allow bloodflow back to her legs. While she gets up she notices that someone else is now seated on board.

"um hey..." she says, trying her best to smile before noticing that the other girl is crying "Is everything alright?" she asks before walking over.

Hoshi Futago

Hoshi sits in her seat trying to get a hold of her emotions. The pain of leaving behind the people who have taken care of her, taught her, nurtured her and loved her is overwhelming; the sadness heightened by the knowledge that they risked their safety for her. It's an overwhelming thought for her. And that thought is magnified by the fear and apprehension of the unknown.
In less than one day her whole life has been turned upside down; she has gone from being the girl going to high school, struggling to stay focused in boring classes and having to do daily chores, to being The Gemini -- whatever that means.

"um hey..." a voice enters her conscious distracting her from her thoughts. "Is everything alright?" Hoshi tenses for a brief second, she didn't remember seeing anyone else seated on the plane when she got on, but she was distracted at the time.
Hoshi peers up at the voice and sees it's a woman, at least 20 probably older. Hoshi nods to the woman, "I'm... I'll... I'm f... fu...I'm fine. It's been a really tough day. I just need some time. You know?" she sniffs.
Hoshi turns her attention briefly toward the window watching the plane taxiing, wishing it were just a dream and hoping that she wakes up from it. "Oh, I'm sorry." she says remembering, "I'm Hoshi. Hoshi Futago." she gives a small smile and dips her head slightly. She really isn't sure what to say to the woman. She knows she needs to be polite, but she's just so distraught over the whole day.
Hoshi pushes her bag and small carrying bag under a seat. She needs to be polite and it would shame the Order at the Temple if her first encounter ended badly. "There is a possibility she might know something." Hoshi reasons. Hoshi can also detect something about the woman, she isn't quite sure what it is; it's almost like a mountain breeze, stimulating and comforting. She feels a slight closeness born out of something shared. It both confuses and calms her.
"If you want..." she says softly, her face and eyes reddened from the emotional outburst, "You know, if you want to sit and talk that would be okay." she flashes a smile trying to appear to be alright.

Ciara smiles back to the girl, nodding softly as she sits down in the same row as Hoshi "I'm Alexandra Faye, most people call me Lexi." she says "Maybe talking would help..."

She begins to fidget with the headphones slung around her neck, a tick that she always did when nervous, and tilts her head slightly when she notices the earrings that the girl is wearing "If today wasn't as unbelievable as it has been I'd think I was going mad. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and assume you've been through some serious crap today..." she pauses before deciding to take the gamble, a faint blush beginning to colour her cheeks "um, Gemini?" Ciara smiles sheepishly before shrugging

Hoshi Futago

"I'm Alexandra Faye, most people call me Lexi." the woman says. "Maybe talking would help..."
Hoshi nods, but doesn't do much else. She feels nervous; she's incredibly upset, very confused, she doesn't know this woman and she feels obligated to be polite and cooperate, the woman is the older person and her training from the monks instilled in her the obligation to be polite to people older than she whether it be older by one day or one hundred years.
"If today wasn't as unbelievable as it has been I'd think I was going mad. I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and assume you've been through some serious crap today... Gemini?" the woman says before Hoshi can say anything. Then the woman shrugs, "The earrings gave me the clue..."

Without saying anything Hoshi reaches up and touches both dangling earrings. She had nearly forgotten all about them, what with the book and Master Agi's necklace and the money from the Temple, the earrings just kind of faded out from her memory being about the least important thing that has happened today.

"Yeah." she mutters. "I guess I'm THE Gemini." she mutters emphasizing the word 'the' with a small level of irritation as she does. "I feel like I lost everything today." she says looking in every direction, but at the woman. This morning, this morning I was Hoshi Chan living at the temple with the monks, running to catch the bus to school to make my math class. I was... normal. Now, I'm Hoshi THE Gemini." she pronounces sarcastically. "Removed from the people who have taken care of me my whole life. The people who fed me, taught me so much, loved me no matter what and now... now today... I learned they have been protecting me from somethings called De-mo-earz... or De-mo-air or something like that" she struggles to get the name of the creature out.

She finally looks at the woman, her voice rising, "I just... I just feel... so overwhelmed. The monks at the Kiyomizu-dera Temple will be expecting so much from me. I can't fail at whatever it is I'm supposed to do. I have to succeed, it's my fate, my duty. If I fail, I'll be letting them down." She looks straight ahead, her voice dims quickly, "And I can't think of anything worse in the world then letting down the people who have loved me and helped me successfully. I...I owe them too much."

Talking is proving to be both cathartic and unnerving at the same time for her. It does help to talk to someone, someone who may understand some of her worries and fears, but at the same time it reinforces her worries about what's going to happen. "I just.. I don't understand why this is happening." she pulls the book from between her and the arm rest, "This is Master Tetsume's journal on everything he knew. I've looked at it, but it's too confusing and frightening. I was hoping to find out what happened to my father, but it doesn't say. It only mentions my mother. Her death and burial, that's it. It talks about the Gemini - me. But mostly he wrote about some powerful demon and his little underling demons." she pauses looking up at the ceiling of the plane. "I don't know why this demon can't be some scrawny, weak kneed demon-in-training. I can't beat a demon." There are so many thoughts rattling around in her brain that she can't seem to hold a single thought for very long, before a new one jumps in and becomes her new talking point.
Finally she just gives up trying to explain, "I don't get it. I'm not sure I'm right for this...this... whatever it is. I'm sorry. I must sound like a babbling idiot."

Ciara smiles, nodding slowly as Hoshi talks "You may be babbling, but you're certainly not an idiot." she laughs with genuine mirth "I ripped my house apart from the eye of a terrible storm... it was terrifying yet... exhilarating." her words coming out in a rush, her eyes flickering with torn emotions, a twisted form of desire, sorrow and terror.

She takes a long steadying breath before continuing "If these creatures are seeking us, all of us, then together we should be able to deal with them. Stands to reason that we're stronger together. Well of course it does, which is why this plane is taking us to where we need to be. The demon would likely be old and powerful, as our heritage is old enough to stand against it. Could it really be that old... and if so why have we never heard of it." she stops suddenly, blushing slightly due to answering herself back mid sentence. "um.. sorry I get carried away sometimes. Even more so since earlier by the looks of it."

"How did you discover what you were?" Ciara asks, her head tilting slightly in curiosity.

Hoshi Futago

Hoshi smiles briefly when Lexi says, she's babbling, but she's not an idiot. She's relieved that the woman isn't annoyed by her drumbeat of worries and concerns. Most people tend to find her talking to be grating, wishing she'd just get to the point and move on.
Hoshi nods when Lexi says, "it was terrifying yet... exhilarating." though she finds it more the former and less the latter. She feels as if she's carrying the weight of the entire world on her shoulders. No worse, she's carrying the hopes and aspirations of the entire Order on her shoulders and that's her biggest fear. If she fails, she fails them as well, and that's something she just can't do.
Hoshi listens silently nodding as Lexi explains her take on the situation and then, "How did you discover what you were?"
Hoshi blushes at that question. Of the many things that have happened today, that's one of the most annoying. "Hold on," she says reaching into her bag and pulling out a hand mirror. She climbs out of her seat and kneels closely to Lexi, "I'll show you. Thought I'm not sure it'll work."
Hoshi takes a deep breath and slowly slides the cover off the mirror revealing her reflection. For a few brief seconds Hoshi just stares nervously at her reflection, "She's gonna think I am crazy if nothing happens." And nothing does. Hoshi makes a couple of silly faces in the mirror, "Come on." she mutters. Finally she gives up, "I guess it's not gonna do anything." she says looking at Lexi.

"Haaaaeeeeeeeeeee!" a voice comes from the mirror. "Those faces were..."
Startled, Hoshi drops the mirror and it lands face down, silencing the reflection.
"I saw that in a river and it talked to me." she says carefully sliding the mirror closed. "Sometimes it talks to me, sometimes not. I don't know why." she slides the mirror in her uniform jacket pocket. "But, it's creepy."

Ciara listens intently while the girl speaks, watching her making faces into a mirror with little result. Someone puzzled she continues to watch, after all she's done some odd things today.

"I guess it's not gonna do anything." Hoshi says looking over, causing Ciara to smile back and relax. Just before she opens her mouth to reply a voice comes from the mirror "Haaaaeeeeeeeeeee! Those faces were..." causing her to jump slightly and laugh.

"I saw that in a river and it talked to me." Hoshi says carefully sliding the mirror closed. "Sometimes it talks to me, sometimes not. I don't know why." she slides the mirror in her uniform jacket pocket. "But, it's creepy."

"It certainly gave me a start there... But what did it mean about those faces? They were what?" she asks, confused but interested. "I'm not really too sure about my 'gifts' but I know they're not exactly something I want to try using when I'm in a plane." she giggles nervously, the idea of causing a windstorm within the compartment terrifying her.

Hoshi pauses for a second listening to the woman speak, "I don't know what it meant either. But that's not my gift." she says shaking her head. "I think that has something to do with Gemini. I don't know." she pauses again for a moment, a little less concerned about the how the woman may react to anything she says.
"I think, if I understood Master's Kuromiya and Agi, that my 'gift' has something to do with wind and fog." Hoshi sits a little closer to Lexi, "When I was little and I was hiding from work and stuff sometimes a fog would appear and hide me from the monks. And sometimes a breeze would appear that would kill all the torches in the room to hide me in the dark. So, I think my gift has something to do with air." she pulls the mirror from her pocket making sure not to open it, "This is not a gift. I think it's a curse of some kind. And even if it isn't, I hope it goes away."
Hoshi slides the mirror back in her pocket. "I think you're an air person too. I can sense a scent, kind of like a pure mountain breeze running through the trees. IF I'm wrong, I apologize. I just sensed it about you. Maybe...maybe that's why we wound up together?" she asks an air of uncertainty and hop in her voice.

Ciara nods slowly before standing up and walking back to where her backpack was sitting. "I am an air person... all my life the scent of the air and its intensity have mirrored my emotions. I remember when I was very young hiding in the dark while the air around me howled, but it was still near me..." she mumbles into silence as she picks up the set of scales and carries them over to where Hoshi was sat, resting them on her lap before continuing.

"When my power manifested earlier, I got a few cuts here and there and was knocked out" she pulls back her hair slightly to show some faint cuts and spattering of blood. "Didn't have time to clean much of it up, but anyways when I woke up I hit my head on these. Honestly don't know where they came from but..." she pauses feeling a little uneasy for a moment "It feels like its part of me, and I'm part of it."

She smiled a little as her focus became entirely directed at the scales, both of her eyes flickering as they seem to drift away before closing completely while her hands rest against the surface of the scales. As her right hand rests against the light side and the left rests against the dark side both eyes suddenly snap open revealing that her right eye is a dark emerald green, while her left eye has brightened to become an almost ethereal sapphire blue.

"Balance in all things, that is what we strive for. Yet we never attain it." Her voice sounds as if its coming from nowhere and everywhere within the cabin as a light breeze now fills it, blowing Ciara's hair back and forth. "We are a child of the Zodiac, we are Libra. The eternal balance."

Her body shakes slightly as the scales are each filled with billowing clouds "Maybe you're right..." her hands pull back as if burned by the scales as her eyes return to normal and she flashes a crooked smile, seeming as if not entirely aware of what just happened. "Our signs complement each other, as well as being Air signs we're able to offer each other what our signs lack in ourselves. At least that's what I hope. Us two meeting can't have just been chance, can it? It being us two, I mean out of all of us."

Hoshi watches as the woman walks towards the back of the plane, "I am an air person... all my life the scent of the air and its intensity have mirrored my emotions. I remember when I was very young hiding in the dark while the air around me howled, but it was still near me..." she says her voice trailing off with each word until Hoshi can barely make out what she's saying.
Hoshi can tell she's fumbling with something. When she turns around, she's carrying a set of scales, not the modern kind you use to weigh yourself with, but the kind that merchants used to use to weigh gold or something else of value to determine the cost. "When my power manifested earlier, I got a few cuts here and there and was knocked out" as she gets back to her seat, she pulls back her hair she has some cuts and small bits of dried blood. "Didn't have time..." Hoshi briefly misses the last few words as she tunes out the woman focusing only on her face, she's sonfused as to why the woman hasn't washed off the blood. Her distraction is momentary and the woman's voice seeps back into her head, "It feels like its part of me, and I'm part of it." Hoshi nods as if she has been listening and understands every thing the woman has been saying.

The woman closes her eyes and lowers her hands onto the scales. As she does. Hoshi notices for the first time that the scales seem to have a dark side and a light side to them. Hoshi leans in a bit to get a better look, her focus shifting back-and-forth between the woman's face and her hands. The woman quickly opens her eyes and Hoshi leaps back, partially shocked by how quickly her eyes opened and partially because of their change in color; one eye is now green, while the other blue. "Whaaaa!" she silently releases in amazement.

"Balance in all things, that is what we strive for. Yet we never attain it." She says, her voice possessing an almost mystical quality, as if she is in some sort of trance and a supernatural being has taken hold of her. "We are a child of the Zodiac, we are Libra. The eternal balance." Hoshi slides a little further away from her as she speaks.

Then as suddenly as she entered her trance, she seems to snap out of it, "Maybe you're right. Our signs complement each other, as well as being air signs we're able to offer each other what our signs lack in ourselves. At least that's what I hope. Us two meeting can't have just been chance, can it? It being us two, I mean out of all of us."

Hoshi nods in agreement, staring at the woman, her mouth agape. Then she shakes her head a bit, "Right." she says shaking it again, "There's probably a reason why we met. I guess you could say we are similar." she says beginning to unbutton the cuffs of her long sleeved white uniform top, "Do you have anything like this?" she says, finally unbuttoning her cuffs and lifting them up, revealing the two signs of the zodiac, one on the back of each wrist, "Do you have a birth mark similar? Not like mine, but like yours?"

Ciara notices a flicker out of the corner of eye as Hoshi's mouth suddenly closes, which puzzles her as she didn't remember it opening, let alone hanging there. Deciding to ignore this blip in her surroundings she listens to what the girl is saying instead. "Do you have a birth mark similar? Not like mine, but like yours?" Hoshi asks

She moves a little from side to side, clicking her tongue for a moment as she thinks "Well... Yeah... Kinda like that" she mumbles before sighing and turns round so her back is facing Hoshi and lifts up her shirt till her back is showing. "I used to get nicknamed Athena because of my balanced view and this birthmark didn't help" she grumbles, jabbing her thumb at the Zodiac sign for Libra that was squarely placed between her shoulder blades.

She lets her shirt fall down again before leaning back in the chair.

"Yeah that's mine, bit out of way but its nice enough. um, is something wrong? You've seemed a little, well different since I showed you the scales? Whats up?" she asks, genuinely concerned, her brow furrowing slightly with worry.

Hoshi sits still a bit overwhelmed by the display she has just seen. As the woman turns, Hoshi feels a little nervous that maybe the mark might be on her butt, so when she lifts her shirt and shows the scales on her back, she feels a sense of relief. Hoshi has seen the backsides of many girls and women, but they've all been Japanese and they've never been seen on really stressful days like today.
"Yeah that's mine, bit out of way but its nice enough. um, is something wrong? You've seemed a little, well different since I showed you the scales? Whats up?" the woman asks.
"Oh...ummmm..." Hoshi stammers briefly trying to collect herself and think of something to say, "It's...well...it's probably nothing. Well, nothing you don't already know." she releases a nervous, breathy exhale. "It's just... well... your eyes." she stops, shakes her head slightly, thinking about what she just saw, "It's just that... Your eyes changed color." she pauses, looking back at the woman, "I think... I think your eyes changed color." Hoshi ponders that thought briefly, "Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's the stress of the day. Do your eyes change color like that a lot?" she blurts out. She is sure she saw the woman's eyes change color, whether it was because of the mists on the scales or a clever parlor trick she is sure the woman's eyes changed colors.

Ciara listens intently to Hoshi as she speaks, and starts to bite her lip a little nervously as the girl rambles on.

"Do your eyes change color like that a lot?" she suddenly blurts out causing a slight giggle from Ciara.

"um... not that I've ever noticed... I wonder if that is part of my power? Did anything else happen?" she asks, her excitement overriding her confused fear at these things having happened without her knowledge, sitting with her legs crossed in front of her on the plane seat.

Hoshi sits for several seconds pondering what else she remembers, which is not much. She got so distracted by the color of the woman's eyes that everything else was no more than a blur. As she organizes her thoughts, she raises her head, "Uh, yes. I do remember. You said something." she thinks again trying to remember, "Something like 'Balance in all things, that is what we strive for. Yet we never attain it.' I don't understand it, but that's was it. You also said something about us being libras and an eternal balance."
Hoshi can't remember anything beyond that. "Sorry." she says rather sheepishly, "I was... I was so distracted by your eyes that everything else kind of you know." she adds, disappointed in herself for not having been more attentive. She contemplates asking the woman to do it again, so she can focus on everything that happens, but decides against it as being intrusive and selfish.

"Listen, I don't wanna sound stupid or unfriendly or anything, but I'm supposed to study this book and well... do you know how long we have before we get where we're going. I mean, Master said nothing about..." she pauses thinking, "...well about anything." she says a small laugh coming out. "I like to read and stuff, but it's, it's confusing and I... I just... I don't know." she says giving up trying to explain. Reading the book is an intensely emotional and conflicting experience experience. She wants to know everything that's in there; about this demon, the stone, but most importantly everything about her parents. But learning about her parents may also mean learning the whole story behind their deaths and that's an upsetting thought. They could have died in a horrid fashion and reading about something like that would be devastating

Ciara listens intently as Hoshi tries to recall what was said during her... Well, trance. "Sorry." she says rather sheepishly, "I was... I was so distracted by your eyes that everything else kind of you know." she adds, clearly feeling somewhat down at having been unable to remember more.

Just as Ciara is about to reply, telling the girl that its alright and not to worry about it she starts up again "Listen, I don't wanna sound stupid or unfriendly or anything, but I'm supposed to study this book and well... do you know how long we have before we get where we're going. I mean, Master said nothing about..." Hoshi pauses thinking for a moment, "...well about anything." she continues with a small laugh. "I like to read and stuff, but it's, it's confusing and I... I just... I don't know." She stammers to a halt, words seeming to have failed her.

Ciara nods slowly and moves closer, taking the girls hand in her own and speaking softly "Today has been very stressful for both of us, maybe more so for you. I'm just as much in the dark as you are Hoshi. All I know is that this plane is taking us somewhere safe, somewhere we'll be able to find out more. My Grandfather said it would bring be back to him, in Scotland... so I'd say it'll be about twelve more hours." She smiles, trying to be comforting "There is something important in that book isn't there? Not just about us and what we are, but something deeply personal, just to you." she gives the girls hand a light squeeze "If you want time alone to read and process whats in the book then I'll go back to my seat for awhile till you're finished. Or I can stay and we can read it together so you don't have to cope with this alone. Either way I'm still here if you need me. I know we've just met but I think that's part of who, or what we are... that we're in this together for good or bad."

Hoshi smiles when the woman squeezes her hand. The one thing she's always lacked in life was a female presence, a woman who could listen and understand. Living with the monks, while not a horrid experience, was always made difficult by it being all men. They would listen politely and offer neutral, logical, helpful advice, but they couldn't understand what it was like to be a girl, to understand the difficulties that girls go through, both physically and mentally. Boys are usually judged on a variety of factors; intelligence, strength, athletic ability, personality and others. Girls, at least where she's from, are almost exclusively judged on appearance. Hoshi has been lucky in that everyone has always said she is a beautiful girl. But it was the one's that fate didn't dote over that has always bothered her. No matter how smart, polite and talented they were, their looks were always what held them back.

As she returns from her thoughts, she sighs slightly, "Thank you. You're very nice." Hoshi whirls herself around on the floor and leans her back against the side of the woman's seat, "You don't have to move if you don't want. I'll just sit here and read the book. It's all in Japanese, if you can't read Japanese I'll explain what it says." she pauses briefly, "If I can explain it. If I don't understand, maybe you will." she says looking back at the woman. "I mean, just because it's in Japanese does not mean you won't understand if I read it to you."

Hoshi opens the book and begins reading through the pages with a vigor that she was lacking earlier. Earlier she was consumed by wanting to know what happened to her parents and at the same time nervous and apprehensive about what was in the book. Now, she is more earnest in her studies. The reading is difficult and often overwhelming. She reads some of the passages aloud and translate them for the woman if she asks. If Hoshi is unsure of what something is, she asks the woman if she knows.
She reads about the Zodiac Stone and it's significance. About the Demon that possesses the stone and wants to use it to kill everyone on earth. How the Demon wants the Guardians powers. About a place called Ioka. And also about the Demoirs, a group of pitch black followers of the Demon that have long, sharp claws that follow the Demon and do its bidding. There is a long set of passages that span several pages that describe the Gemini. The description of the Gemini and her relationship to air makes her smile. She was always fascinated by the winds, the fog, the dancing papers and the rest, she just never thought any of it was her. They also give her greater insight as to why Master was always so aggravated at her inattention, her lack of discipline, now she knows why he pressured her so much and got so cross when she failed to meet his expectations.

She tightens her lips when she reads some of the negative side of the Gemini and why that nature needs to be controlled. "Me! Superficial?!" she shouts in her head. "I'm not superfi..." she pauses briefly. "Master Agi would suffer me with one of his boring lectures for getting so upset." she mutters softly. She sits and thinks looking over the book at the wall, "I guess I am a little superficial." she reasons. "Being in school." she nods strongly, "Definitely." she says aloud forgetting the woman behind her, "Definitely hate being in school."
She pauses and looks over at the woman behind her, "Sorry." she says blushing. "I hope you're not a teacher or trying to be one. I just think school is stifling." Hoshi says honestly.

Ciara smiles back at the girl and nods "I can speak Japanese a little, I learned Korean primarily and some Chinese. So I'll say if there is anything I don't get. And we can work through this together."

She make sure that she is sitting comfortably and reads through the book with Hoshi, her thoughts filled with confusion and fear at the mention of demons and the Zodiac stone. She tried to process everything that Hoshi was reading as best she could, absorbing the information that she could, however when the book started about the Gemini she wasn't sure if she should continue but as Hoshi showed no signs of hiding it or stopping she carried on reading it with her. Though it did make her wonder if the book said anything about the other signs.

The girl reaches a point in the description of her sign saying that she is superficial causing her to rant about it, having taking it as an insult before reasoning herself into accepting it and then directing her feelings towards being in school

Hoshi pauses and looks over at Ciara sitting next to her, "Sorry." she says blushing. "I hope you're not a teacher or trying to be one. I just think school is stifling." Hoshi says honestly causing Ciara to burst out laughing as she smiles.

"Don't worry about it, I could never handle the paperwork. I enjoyed education but at the same time I hated it because I wanted to freedom that it would give me eventually sooner than I could." she tells the girl. "So I know what you mean about it being stifling and limiting. Yet for all that it was still an invaluable experience for me." now it is Ciara's turn to blush slightly.

Hoshi giggles at the woman's admission, "Must be an air thing or something." she points at herself then the woman. "I guess Master Agi was right." she shuts the book and swings around onto her knees, straightens her back and raises one finger, "Madam Lexi," she lets out a small laugh. She is trying to keep a straight face as she speaks, but finds it difficult. "Madam Lexi, you must be more disciplined. You are like the winds, you are unfocused, easily moved in a variety of directions for no apparent reason, with no purpose." it's painful trying not to laugh as she mimics the stoic monk who watched over her daily development, constantly alert to her progress. When she finally gathers herself together she continues, "You must be more focused, have more self-control so that your gifts do not dissipate like the fog on a hot day. Self-discipline, Obedience to Authority and Reverence to Your Elders are three critical virtues a person must have, Following instructions and diligence toward duty is how you achieve these virtues." Finally, she can take no more and she busts out laughing. Her laughter is so great that her face turns beet red and she falls to the floor releasing the book and rolling on the floor.
Finally she gets control of her laughter and rolls onto all fours. She's panting heavily and tired. She hasn't laughed like that in a long time and the stress of today is partially released in her moment of levity. "I'm...I'm...I...I'm sorry. I really am." she says returning to her knees, "It's just...you wouldn't get it. I was...that was Master Agi. He used to say that all the time and..." she cuts herself short as she realizes how much he really meant to her - how much they all meant to her. Master Kuromiya, Master Agi, Master Tetsume before he died, and the rest of them. They all meant so much to her, "They still do." she whispers sitting back on the floor, her back pressed against the seat across from Lexi, a few tears welling up in her eyes. With the speed of everything that has happened today, it's just now that the thought that she may never see them again hits her full force.
She fingers for the book, finally grabbing it and pulling it to her chest, "I'm...I'm so sorry. I just...never had... They were everything. And when I thought I didn't need them they were always there. And now I know I need them, more than ever I need them, they're not. I wish...I wish I had...you know... been more attentive to them."

She's desperately trying not to cry, but she's not having much success. "I'm so...sorry. This is the second time..." she cries. "Maybe...maybe we should talk about you. This book only mentions others in brief. It's really about me, the Zodiac and the Demon."

When the girl started being strict and proper it caused Ciara to smile broadly, even if a bit crookedly; but as she continued it broke into a slight giggle after seeing the girl trying not to laugh herself. And when Hoshi fell onto the floor of the plane in a fit of laughter it was all she could do to not join her, instead laughing into the cushion of her seat till the girls laughter had begun to die down.
"I'm...I'm...I...I'm sorry. I really am." Hoshi coughed out as she pulled herself to her knees, her breathing beginning to return to normal. Ciara shakes her head, still smiling and giggling slightly as if to say ‘Don’t worry about it’.
“It's just...you wouldn't get it. I was...that was Master Agi. He used to say that all the time and..." she paused for a long time, her eyes glazing over, and flickering slightly as she recalled various memories of her family at the temple before she whispered ”They still do” sitting back down on the floor in silence for a moment.

Ciara smiles down at the girl noticing the sadness and loneliness building, as the emotions threaten to overflow and moves so that she’s resting against her seat opposite her so that they are level.

She watches Hoshi reach for the book and her fingers flicking towards it till she finally grasps it and pulls it close to her chest, "I'm...I'm so sorry. I just...never had... They were everything. And when I thought I didn't need them they were always there. And now I know I need them, more than ever I need them, they're not. I wish...I wish I had...you know... been more attentive to them."
Before she can respond to the girl Ciara notices how hard the girl is finding it, and the sheer amount of effort she is putting into not crying; but there are still a couple of tears trickling down her cheek as she speaks again.

"I'm so...sorry. This is the second time..." she cries. "Maybe...maybe we should talk about you. This book only mentions others in brief. It's really about me, the Zodiac and the Demon."

Ciara nods slowly at the girl, trying to smile again before scooting over and putting an arm around her shoulders and giving her a hug ”Don’t worry” she says soothingly ”Even though you may not have always shown them, they’ll have known how much they meant to you”

She smiles and takes a deep breath before speaking again ”Well I… Well… Yeah… um…” Ciara stammers not knowing what to say about herself, before starting afresh “I was orphaned when I was 7. I spent too long between homes, I felt so alone till my grandfather found me and took me away from America. I’ve never really been too close to anyone since my grandfather found me, it’s hard to you know? I only had one person I could trust… he used to tease me for being caring and fair and honourable… even more so when he saw my birthmark, even gave me a nickname because of it. I miss him more than anything, I just never got the chance to understand how much he meant and he was gone. I didn't feel alone with him, but I haven’t seen him since I was about fourteen… I just… I..”
she smiles weakly and pulls away slightly from Hoshi, wrapping her arms around her knees, peeking over the top of her hands at the girl. ”I moved away to start afresh and forget my past, to be someone new. But I’m always me, even when it hurts.” Ciara sniffles slightly and brushes a couple of tears away from her cheek.

Hoshi gives out a small smile when the woman places her arm around her shoulder. It's comforting that the woman cares for her. She leans her head into Lexi's shoulder and rests it there while listening. She nods through her tears as the woman tells how she was an orphan at age 7. She has some understanding of the pain she must have felt, but also realizes it was probably much harder on Lexi than her loss was on her. Losing something wonderful you had is always much harder than never having had something you want.

"...it’s hard to you know?" Lexi confesses. Hoshi slides in tighter nodding, making a small noise of understanding as she does. Her discussion of having lost a friend resonates with Hoshi, having lost so many important people today. Hoshi can feel her pulling away, the emotion of the moment has also gotten to Lexi, discussing her past is also apparently a painful experience for her. When the woman pulls her legs in, she seems so small, so vulnerable, a feeling Hoshi understands only too well.
When she finishes Hoshi slides toward the woman, "I understand." she says wiping a tear from Lexi's face. "We're somewhat alike." Hoshi observes, "I mean, we both have painful pasts, lost our parents and are of the wind in some way." Hoshi smiles a little through her own sorrow, "Thank you, for sharing and for listening. It means a lot to me. I hope it does to you." she slides to the side of the woman and places her arm around the woman, her head back on the Lexi's shoulder. "Lexi, if this makes you feel... you know... my head resting on you I'll move it. It's just so relaxing and soothing. My friends and I do it all the time when we share our sad thoughts." She hopes Lexi doesn't tell her to move her head. "What's your grandfather like. If you want I'll tell you about the Temple. Or, I'll just be quiet and stop bothering you." She feels a bond to her, that she hopes Lexi feels as well.
