Rain S. Daniels

"Give me time, it will be done."

0 · 1,000 views · located in New York City

a character in “Guiding Heroes”, as played by TaniaSoulEater

Description

Rain Skyler Daniels

Star

Image

Age: 19

Role: Girl 3

Power: Power of Healing - Rain can heal minor ailments with the touch of her hands. Healing uses up her energy; the amount energy used depends on the severity of the wound. She can heal sicknesses and injuries, but not major ailments, such as cancer. She also cannot reverse age or death.

Image

Description: Rain has long brown hair that hangs straight down her back. She has large amber brown eyes that sparkle with emotion. When she's excited, her eyes sparkle so much that they give the impression of almost wanting to crack, rather like glass or crystal. Despite the picture, Rain usually has a gentle smile on her face.

Personality: Rain is quiet and reserved, and wants only to live a peaceful life, and security. She feels a strong internal sense of duty, which gives her a serious air and the motivation to follow through on tasks given. Organized and methodical in her approach, she can generally succeed at any task she undertakes.

Rain is loyal, faithful, and dependable. She places high priority on honesty and integrity, refusing to lie most of the time. Despite the fact that she takes things seriously, she does have a sense of humour and can be a lot of fun when she's not on duty. She believes in laws and traditions, and expects the same from others. She's not comfortable with breaking the rules, however she will do so if she sees a good reason for doing so. Even so, she is good at lying.

Rain is very dependable on following through with things that she has promised. As a result, she has a problem with saying "no", even when she's given more work than is reasonable. Still, she will try her best to do it, no matter the amount. She is naive, and easily taken advantage of. She is practical, and will always take the easier and shorter solution to complete a task.

However, being a perfectionist, she does not pick up on others' feelings and emotions easily. She does not express herself easily either, and has a slight problem with showing emotion. She may not be very strong physically, but she is strong mentally, and believes in her friends.

History: Rain had a normal enough childhood, like most other little children. She spent a lot of time idolising her older brother, whom she loved very much. She would follow him around all the time, helping him and playing with him. However, he mixed with the wrong people and fell into bad hands. Rain was devastated, but she could do nothing about it, not having much experience with dealing with people, other than her brother.

Soon, her brother was in too deep. However Rain tried, she could not pull him back from the people who had stolen him. Rain knew that her brother was doing this for her, but she was still very upset. She cried herself to sleep many nights, worried to death about him. Finally, at the end of her tether, she left him.

When she was 16, she met the Alphas. She has worked with them for 3 years, even up until today.

Skills: Rain is a good strategist, often coming up with plans that help the Alphas.

Weaknesses: Rain used to faint at the sight of blood. Now, she doesn't do so, although she still does get a little queasy when it comes to blood, so she may not always be at her best when healing.

When healing, it drains her energy, sometimes to the point of fainting from exhaustion.

Fears: Rain fears letting down her friends. She is afraid that everything they have worked for together will come crashing down because of her, and tries her best to prevent that.

Other: Rain owns a grey kitten which she named Mist. She loves the kitten very much, and cares for it deeply.
Rain got her super hero name not only from her power, but also from her personality. A star is a guiding light, something that gives hope in the darkest of times. Just like her healing, which brings relief from pain, her personality offers a channel for others to share their feelings, to open up their heart to someone trustworthy.
There is something ironic about Rain's name. Somehow, it ties in with the simile 'as right as rain'. But she's never drawn attention to it.

Theme Song: A Thousand Years - Christina Perri

Ron kept looking off into nothing, his coffee mug sitting inside of his cupped hands. He didn't want to be like this, he didn't want to be all sad and he wanted to be able to touch someone again. He glanced over at Rain when she sat back down, he felt horrible being like this to her. She was the only person, in his whole life, that he had actual relationship feelings for. Now when she came up and tried to comfort him, he pulled away like he couldn't stand to be touched by her.

All of a sudden she was wrapped as far as her little arms could go around him. Pouring her heart out onto his, telling him every word that he wanted to hear for the past few years. It felt so good, it almost made him forget about yesterday, but it didn't, because he was still afraid of hurting her. As she cried on his chest, he brought his right hand up to her face. As gently as he could, he moved her chin up to where she was looking him in the eye. With the same hand, shaky hand, he moved it up and whipped her wet cheek with his thumb. "Don't cry....please...." he attempted to move his arms around to her back and give her a hug. They were so close but they very lightly touched her back, hovering there, him terrified that he would crush her. "I want to touch you Rain..I want to so bad but, I don't want to hurt you... I killed a man with my finger yesterday. What if my hug is to strong and hurts your back..." He paused and look into her hurt eyes with is. "I want to kiss you....I want to be with you Rain, I always have. But if I ever hurt you, I don't..." He just shook his head as he looked down. He wanted this so bad and it was being dangled by a thread, but he couldn't touch it.

Arthur's dark camellia eyes slowly opened and he found himself staring at the barely-lit ceiling of his room. He lay still for about a half hour before finally letting out a sigh and forcing himself out of bed. He had been waiting for the alarm to go off before he got up, but for some reason he felt like it was taking too long. Turning, he noticed the clock on his nightstand showed that it was fifteen minutes pass the time the alarm was supposed to sound, which surprised him quite a bit. Maybe they really did turn it off after Ron asked them again. Arthur narrowed his eyes and moved them onto the carpet flooring for a few moments. He just hoped Ron cam back some time last night and didn't go off and do something stupid.

He spent a little more time getting dressed, putting on a white, v-neck T-shirt with a dark brown suit jacket, keeping it unbuttoned of course, along with a pair of black slacks. After that he brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and slipped on a pair of dark blue socks before splashing his face with some cold water and heading downstairs.

"I don't want to hurt you... I killed a man with my finger yesterday. What if my hug is to strong and hurts your back..." Ron stopped for a moment as he reached the bottom of the stairs as he heard Ron's voice, somewhat relieved and yet he still felt angry with him.

He continued down with his hands stuck in the pockets of his jacket and turned the corner to see Ron's back turned to him with Rain's arms wrapped around him. He hesitated a moment before casually lifting his foot and planting it in the middle of Ron's back, giving him a good kick, clearly interrupting the moment the two were just having. It most likely didn't do anything at all, but it made Arthur feel a little better and Ron would hopefully get the message. "Where the heck were you last night?" He asked, passing him and then moving over the the cabinets above the coffee maker. "You're an idiot, disappearing like that and tossing out your earpiece so we couldn't track you." He continued on, pulling down a box of cinnamon toast cereal and setting it on the counter before grabbing for a bowl and pouring the box. "Did you even think about how that could make you look to the higher-ups?" He opened the refrigerator as he spoke and grabbed the milk, glancing over at him with a piercing gaze as he poured the liquid into his bowl. "And Jasper was worried sick about you."

He twisted the lid back onto the milk and shut it in the refrigerator before straightening up and facing Ron. "Quit acting like you're the only one who has problems, you're being selfish and not to mention childish. How do you think your emotional crash is making the rest of us feel? We're your friends, and the last time I checked friends are supposed to help each other. You're making that a bit difficult." Finally he got himself a spoon and picked up his bowl, ready to take it to the floor below and find himself a table to sit alone. "Now go take a shower or something. I'd rather not share a house with someone who smells like alcohol and sweat." He said, then looking over at Rain and giving her a smile. "Oh sorry, good morning to you, Rain, excuse me." He said before turning to leave, though he stopped as he passed Ron. "I hope you're going to go apologize to Jasper after this."

Rain S. Daniels

"Never. You'll never hurt me. I know it." The tears let up slightly, and Rain managed to gulp out those remaining words. Her hand rubbed small, comforting circles on Ron's back, trying to convey what all the words in the world couldn't possibly say.

Ron jerked forward a little, startling Rain. She glanced up over his shoulder and caught sight of Arthur. Somewhat embarrassed at being caught like that, she pulled backward, quickly wiping her cheeks. She knelt on the floor for a moment while Arthur berated Ron, trying regain her composure.

Finally, Arthur stopped. He smiled at Rain and greeted her. "Good morning," she replied. A slight blush crept up her cheeks, heating her already tear-stained face. Hoping it wasn't too awkward, she smiled tentatively at Ron.

Ron closed his eyes and smiled as Rain pull'd him in close and lightly rubbed on his back. It was so nice, after all these years, finally. He very cautiously put his arms on her back, not wanting to apply much force, if any. As he felt so happy, he realized how big of a dick he was to Jasper yesterday, and how much he probably hurt her. He couldn't remember a time when he had yelled at her, now he felt like shit in this great moment, and it wasn't stopping there. Ron got kicked in the back and while that wasn't very effective to him, he still felt it, which made him tense up a little, which could have hurt Rain. He let go of Rain and turned around, ready to make sure whoever was touching him knew just what he could do. When he saw Arthur, he stopped, still a stern look on his face but nothing else. He listened to the beating he was dishing out onto him as he got his small breakfest together, like he was chatting small talk.

"You think I was being Selfish?! You think I was being SELFISH?!? How dare you call me selfish! Acting like you have problems like this, I killed a innocent man, and then had to tell his six year old daughter that everything was ok, that here daddy was just relaxing, then watch her get hauled off to some home where anyone and there brother could screw her up! You can go screw yourself you little Italian prick because you have no clue what it's like, to go through what I did, and know that you might have just FUCKED EVERYTHING UP for your friends, your family, and someone you love. I have put everything on the line for this team, staying up for days at time, going out on 24 hour patrols by myself so you all could go enjoy yourself for a day and you want to call me selfish!? How about you go try to get with my sister over there, and relax with her by the fire on christmas day, while I go cover for you!"

But he said none of that, his brain sure did but he didn't. After the barrage of insults at him he just nodded a little. "...You're right..I'm sorry, and I will make it up to Jas, I promise.." He looked at Arthur until he left for the downstairs dinning room. Ron turned back to Rain and saw her smile, he gave her one back and hugged her, more like a normal hug this time, and it felt so good. "I'm sorry but I'm going to have to cut this short. I have to go apoligize to someone." He said as he let go of her and walked out into the living room. Ron looked down at the still sleeping Jas and sat down where he had slept. He picked up Booze and put him on the table behind him, not wanting the lizard to get caught in the cross fire of what might happen next. "whew....Jas...Jas wake up." He said with a very light shake to her shoulder.

The morning came a little later than usual for some reason, as if the alarm never actually went off. When Lauri realized that she'd slept in an hour pass the time the alarm would've originally gone off, she was pretty surprised. Even though she did always use her power to turn it off the moment it came on, she'd never slept any later than a few minutes afterwards. This time she was never even woken up. She sat at the foot of her bed and spent about twenty minutes brushing through her hair before putting it back up into a piggy tail and tying a dark blue ribbon around it as she went over the events of the day before. She'd gone shopping with Derek and Rain and managed to buy Arhur, Ron, and Jasper each a gift along with buying herself a few new pieces of jewelry. She'd already wrapped up the gifts and slid them under her bed before she ate and went to sleep. As far as she knew Ron still hadn't come home yet, so she hoped he'd be back this morning.

As usual, she went downstairs in her PJ's, a small spaghetti-strapped, light blue top and equally small matching shorts with pink lining. Once she got downstairs, she entered the kitchen and stopped to wave to Rain as she opened the refrigerator. "Good morning!" She said with a smile as she peered into the fridge, only to have her smile instantly vanish. She wasn't exactly planning on drinking in the morning, but that didn't mean she didn't check to make sure her afternoon beverage wasn't there. The entire thing was gone! "W-who....grr" She straightened up, clutching the handle of the refrigerator tightly as she lightly slammed it. Arthur doesn't even like the smell of beer, Rain was under age, Derek doesn't drink, Lauri definitely didn't drink it all. The only two who could've possibly stolen it would be Jasper or Ron, and what better therapy was there after accidentally killing someone? She turned away from Rain without another word and was about to yell for Ron as she left the kitchen when she spotted him in the living room. She stopped abruptly when she figured out he was trying to wake up the sleeping Jasper and her eyes softened. Maybe she'd let things settle a little before killing him.

She turned around and decided to go the opposite direction. She was able to catch a glance of Arthur going downstairs so she followed him and found him eating his breakfast at one of the tables below. Putting on a pouting face, she walked up behind him and threw her arms around his neck, dropping to her knees behind the chair and practically hanging off of him as she pressed her cheek against the left side of his head. "Arrrthuurrrr....Ron stole my beeeeerrr..go buy me some, go buy me some, go buy me soommeee!" She begged playfully, though she was being a little serious as well. "Please, please...I'm too tired..go buy me some!" She continued, slightly shaking her arms.

Jasper

Jasper had awaken when Rain had come down. She listened curiously as her best friend and his long time crush talked and talked and she could practically feel the raging hormones as they slowly became more than friends. She was actually surprised, she hadn't expected them to get together so quickly. She was happy for him, but also a bit jealous of Rain. It wasn't that she liked Ron, they were like siblings, but she did like having Ron's attention. He was the only person that ever seemed to care enough to get to know her, he accepted her flaws and helped her when her dad started drinking and abusing her. He knew more about her than she did, and while she wasn't going to admit it, Jasper wasn't sure she was ready to share him with anyone. She realized how much attention he'd give Rain when they got together, and Jasper was simply afraid of being forgotten, left behind, becoming a third wheel. Her fists clenched unconsciously and small sparks erupted from her fingertips. However, when Arthur entered the room, she quickly attempted to calm down and go limp, in case he noticed her laying there. He seemed preoccupied with yelling at Ron, so she peeked open an eye and listened to what he said. On one hand, Jasper wanted to hop up and defend her friend; but on the other, the shock from last night was gone, replaced by anger towards how he had treated her, and she agreed with most of what Arthur was saying.

Once Arthur left, she heard a quiet exchange between Rain and Ron, they were no doubt hugging and being mushy she thought bitterly. She was jealous and angry that he let Rain hug him when he didn't even let Jasper touch him yesterday. She heard him stand up and begin walking towards the living room and quickly shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep again. She felt Booze get swept off of her head and then Ron's hand on her shoulder, carefully trying to wake her up.

"whew....Jas...Jas wake up."

She stayed quiet for a bit, afraid that she would be too exhausted to argue with him, she wanted to yell at him so badly. However, he persisted and she gave up, grabbing his arm and sent a shock, fueled by her frustration, up his arm. It was one with enough power to knock grown man unconscious, but to Ron it would just hurt a lot.

"It'll take a lot more than that to wake me up, Champ." She muttered irritably, rolling onto her side and glaring at him with her violet eyes. "What do you want?"

Arthur was satisfied with Ron's answer, though he could tell he wanted to say something more. Either way, at least he admitted the way he reacted yesterday wasn't right, or at least that's what Arthur got out of Ron's answer. He gave Rain a small smile once more before taking his leave and going downstairs with his breakfast. He knew his little lecture wouldn't have the effect he wanted it to, but he had to say something. He decided he would forgive Ron a little bit since the guy agreed to apologize to Jasper, but only just a little. He barely felt any remorse for the words he spoke, something had to be said about Ron's actions and Arthur wasn't finished yet, but he'd cut the guy some slack for now.

He sat in the middle of the room where a table of petrified wood stood with a few chairs around it. Taking a seat, he propped his legs up on the table and held up the bowl. He dipped the spoon in and pulled it up to his mouth, ready to take a bite only to suddenly feel something run into his back. The spoon slipped from his finger and landed in the bowl as he jerked forward slightly from whoever it was who wrapped their arms around him.

"Arrrthuurrrr....Ron stole my beeeeerrr..go buy me some, go buy me some, go buy me soommeee!"

Should've known..

"I'm eating right now." He replied, turning his head a little to look at her, though he couldn't turn it much since her cheek was pressed against his.

"Please, please...I'm too tired..go buy me some!"

She started to shake him a little and he leaned forward, taking his feet of the table and placing them on the floor so he wouldn't fall backwards, though Lauri continued to hang off of him. "Stop begging! You sound like a little kid, aren't you supposed to be the oldest here? And you know I can't drive, do you expect me to walk? Plus, you don't even need to be drinking that stuff, don't you know it damages dendrites in your brain? It's not exactly the healthiest thing to be drinking in the morning, or ever." He was giving her the same lecture every time she mentioned wanting alcohol to him, but maybe he repeated himself so much thinking that perhaps one day it will actually get through to her. Fat chance.

Rain S. Daniels

Rain rose slowly, not trusting her legs to support her after what had just happened with Ron. Still a little unsteady on her feet, she walked upstairs, intending to find Jasper and tell her everything. However, after knocking on Jasper's door, she didn't hear any answer, so she figured Jasper must've gone downstairs without her seeing.

Rain headed downstairs again. Once in the living room, she saw Ron and Jasper together on the couch, talking. Smiling, Rain quietly went over to them. Perching herself on the armrest, she sent a smile Jasper's way. "Morning," she greeted.

Thinking about how to phrase what had just happened to Ron and herself, Rain decided to keep quiet about it for a while, at least until they were alone. She didn't really know how Ron would react, but she knew that Jasper would be happy for her, and keep it a secret until the right time. Jasper was better at stuff like that than Rain was. She would know what to do.

"I....fuck...I deserve that."

She nodded silently and sat up, granting Ron permission to sit down on the couch as he talked to her. She was mad, really mad, but Ron was one of the few people that she had a hard time snapping at. She didn't look at him as he talked, finding the blank screen of the television much more interesting. Jasper knew that if she looked, she'd feel bad for him, she knew exactly what look he'd have on his face, and she was much more content with being mad than sympathetic.

"Jas...yesterday, I'm so sorry. I mean, yelling and..."

She looked over at him for a second and saw that he wasn't looking at her. Angrily, she turned away with fists clenched. He was the strongest man in the world yet he wasn't man enough to even look at her when he was talking?

"Jasper...I...I don't know what to say.. There is no excuse for me yesterday. Killing a man or a thousand, I never want to hurt you. I was out there most of yesterday trying to think how I could ever talk to you again, after...hurting you like..."

Jasper took a deep breath, exhaling her frustration slowly before stealing a peek back at her friend, again. Big mistake. The look on Ron's face was that of a sad puppy and she cringed, fighting her instinct to hug him and forgive him. Ron was just one of those people who you couldn't stay mad at, even if you tried. "Just... be quiet." She said quietly, inhaling and exhaling one more time, admitting defeat. "I shouldn't be mad at you, you went through something terrible and... I was just being..." She looked away, obviously hating the fact that she was really the one in the wrong, "I was being childish. I was just surprised."

"..I love you Jasper...I-I-I swore I wouldn't hurt you and I did...p-please don't be mad at me Jas..please." She was surprised at the strain in Ron's voice and when she looked back to him she saw that Ron, the strongest man on the planet, was crying. Crying and begging for her forgiveness. Shocked, Jasper didn't have time to stop her own tears from falling and she made no haste rushing into her best friend's arms with shoulders shaking.

"D-d-d-damn it, Ron, you're making my em-m-motions go fun-k-ky." She hissed between sniffles. Finally, she sat back and wiped the wet streaks off of his face before going after her own. "T-t-twice in 24 h-hours. T-that's m-m-more than I've c-c-cried in my l-l-life." Playfully, she punched him in the shoulder before kissing Ron on the cheek. "I f-f-forgive you, Ch-champ."

"Morning."

Jasper practically jumped out of her socks. Rain's chipper voice was out of place after the exchange that just happened. "You scared me, dammit-hic!" She growled and hiccuped at the same time, clutching her chest as her heart rate struggled to calm. She whirled on Rain, still a bit jealous. Not only was Rain going to take Ron away from her, but their relationship would also mean that Ron got a date before she did and he would never let her live it down. However, one look at Rain's innocent, sweet face and her anger melted away. Rain was one of those people, too.

"Morning," Jasper repeated running her hands through her ratty hair, suddenly self conscious of the fact that she probably had a bedhead and looked like she had just crawled out from under a rock compared to Rain. "If you guys want time alone, I need to take a shower, anyway." She muttered, beginning to stand up.

Ron tried to stop crying as he felt her embrace, nothing ruined his image like Jasper. She could twist his gut inside and out but a touch from her healed it ten fold. "I-I'm sorry." He said with a smile as he commented on her crying. He opened his eyes as she wipped his face and smiled at her as he took a deep breath in. "I was thinking, after yesterday, I could probably get us all a day off, day of rest after that. You go get in the shower and get dressed and we'll all have a day." He said as he held her hand. "And you can help me pick out a second gift for you, to make up for me being an ass." He said as he returned the kiss on the cheek just as Rain walked up. He quickly hid his face as she talked to Jasper, trying his best to make it look like he hadn't been crying.

When Jasper got up to leave he looked up at Rain with a smile. "Hey....come here." He said as he lightly grabbed her hands and sat her next to him on the couch. He kept his smile as he looked deep into her eyes. His hand reached up and brushed a piece of hair back behind her ear. He leaned in very slowly as he closed his eyes and gave her a long, sweet, kiss. He broke it as his lips hanged barley touching hers as he looked back into her eyes. "I..have been wanting to do that, for a very, very long time." He said with a smile, as he sat there, holding her hand in their laps and staring into the most beautiful eyes he'd seen.

Rain S. Daniels

Rain laughed out loud as Jasper whirled on her. "Sorry," she choked, trying to stifle her giggles. She hadn't expected Jasper to be that startled, although her reaction was hilarious. Rain wasn't the kind to play pranks on others and laugh at them, but for some reason, she found Jasper really funny. Rain felt like laughing and kicking her heels like a little child, but held herself back.

Ron turned away to hide his face. Rain looked at him curiously, wondering if something was wrong. He didn't look very agitated, so there probably wasn't too big a problem...

After Jasper left, Rain started forward. Before she could do anything, however, Ron looked up. He smiled brilliantly. "Hey....come here." Grabbing her hands, Ron pulled her down onto the couch. His hand started up towards her face and Rain began to blush a gentle rose pink, anticipating what was to come next. Ron's lips landed on hers, and cliché as it sounded, Rain could feel the sparks between them.

A moment later, Ron pulled away, staring deep into her eyes. "I..have been wanting to do that, for a very, very long time." Rain's blush grew ever deeper, and she broke the stare. "How long?" she asked quietly.

It wasn't that she was displeased or anything, it was just that something had stirred in her by his last sentence. How long had he had feelings for her already? She wanted to know, wanted to realise how long they had loved each other.

Arthur stared up at Lauri blankly when she walked around and placed her hand son his shoulders, this time she asked him to come with her. He held his bowl steady while she gave his shoulders a few small shakes and he closed his eyes for a couple of moments until she stopped. This was definitely unnecessary for his brain to take in.

"I told you I'm eati--"

"Then you can help me pick out Christmas presents for Derek and Rain, and you'll be able to get Ron and your girlfriend a gift too! How about that? Let's not patrol today and let's just take a break!"

His eyes snapped open and he felt his face turn hot and he glared up at her nervously. "Jasper isn't my girlfre--!" He cut off as he watched the metal spoon be lifted from his bowl and Lauri stole a bite of his breakfast. "That's mine!" He said, but she was already walking away from him with a pleased smile. His eyes followed her with an excruciating death glare which, as usual, she paid absolutely no attention to.

"I'm going to get dressed! Hurry up and eat so we can go!"

She's not going to let me refuse is she... He thought to himself matter-of-factly as he watched his friend go upstairs. He relaxed a little and turned back to his food, suddenly loosing his appetite. Not because Lauri had taken a bite with his spoon, they shared food like that all the time, it was mostly because her shaking him caused him to get a little dizzy. "Cavolo..", he mumbled, letting out a sigh and standing up. He headed back upstairs and dumped his bowl into the sink and, after washing his dishes, he dried them off and put them away in their rightful places before also heading upstairs to get dressed and take his medication.

He kept his black slacks but changed into a white, long-sleeved shirt with a thicker, light blue sweater over top along with a dark red bandana scarf that hung loosely around his neck. He put on the same shoes he had on the day before and then made his way downstairs to the living room to find that Lauri wasn't down yet and it looked like Jasper wasn't in the living room anymore, which would explain the awkward scene he'd just witnessed. Ron and Rain had just finished kissing each other only a couple of seconds after Ron got to the bottom of the stairs and turned to enter the living room. It wasn't surprising judging by what he saw the two doing earlier, but really? This was the second time now he'd come in at a private time!

"You two are extra lovey dovey this morning, aren't you?" He purred, walking in with a sweet smile. "Lauri and I are going out for a bit to go Christmas shopping. I'd ask if you'd want to come but we both still need to get Rain a gift and, well, you seem pretty happy with your position at the moment." He glanced over at Ron with a hinting smile as he said that last part. Arthur was back to his old self, clear that he wanted to move on from the tense atmosphere before when he gave Ron his lecture.

A few moments later Lauri finally came downstairs and Arthur slid his fingers into his pants pockets and looked over to her. "Ready to go?"

(Man..I just have bad timing don't I...)

He smiled back at her as she asked the question, sitting to where their thighs were touching and his left arm now wrapped around her back, holding her tight. "Well let's see, the first day you joined the team, you walked in wearing that sun dress. When you smiled at everyone, I mean, wow, I was amazed at how someone could be that beautiful. About a week after you joined the team, and a week of me wowing over you, I knew that nothing would make me more happy than to be with you, and to kiss you, to feel your soft lips." He said as he leaned back in and gave her another loving kiss. It felt so good to finally be able to show a little love, to be able to finally show Rain what he wanted for years. He broke the kiss and had a big smile on again as he looked back at her.

"Hey, I told Jasper that we should take a day off today, enjoy ourselves a little. We can get away with it after yesterday. I need to do a little shopping and I want to make it up to Jasper, after yesterday. When it all went down I, kind of yelled at her, I was emotional and all that.." He looked down as he held her hand and smiled, "But it's all going to be better now, everything is looking up." He said as he got up. "I kind of stink, so I'm gonna go take a shower." He said as he started to back away. "Oh and just so you know, if you want to be, you can be my girlfriend now." He said jokingly but serious to. It sounded a little childish but he wanted to make sure that she knew he wasn't toying with her, that this all ment a lot to him.

"I was thinking, after yesterday, I could probably get us all a day off, day of rest after that. You go get in the shower and get dressed and we'll all have a day. And you can help me pick out a second gift for you, to make up for me being an ass."

Jasper shook her head and dusted off her jeans awkwardly, she felt out of place with Rain in the room. Shifting her feet, she crossed her arms and looked longingly at the stairs, "nah you go with Rain, I want it to be a surprise. I'll just stay here and hang out with Derek or something." She allowed a small smile to creep onto her lips, but she quickly wiped it away and turned to go get ready for her shower.

She grabbed a clean towel out of the hall closet and stuck it in the bathroom before going to her room to grab a set of fresh clothes. She was about to begin undressing in the bathroom when she realized that she had left Booze downstairs and she hadn't fed him yet. In fact, she wasn't sure she fed him the day before, either. Jasper decided to quickly grab the lizard and feed him before she took her shower, taking pity on the small beast.

She walked down the stairs and stopped abruptly. "...I was amazed at how someone could be that beautiful. About a week after you joined the team, and a week of me wowing over you, I knew that nothing would make me more happy than to be with you, and to kiss you, to feel your soft lips." She hopped back so that she was behind the wall and they couldn't see her. Shoulders drooping, she leaned forward and watched as her best friend locked lips with another girl.

She couldn't tell you why, but Jasper suddenly became angry, and it only grew as she listened to the pair talk more. "Oh and just so you know, if you want to be, you can be my girlfriend now." Her tight fists were spitting sparks and the lights flickered. Quickly before they could see her, she ran up the stairs as stealthily and quietly as she could and jumped into the shower.

The water hurt. Each drop sizzled as it touched her pale skin and shocked her repeatedly, leaving small burns all over her body until she calmed down. She wasn't jealous of Rain, of course not. Ron was a brother, but her sisterly instincts went crazy at the sight of him kissing and talking sappy to her. She didn't know if she was mad at Ron or Rain, and it didn't help that they were all so close to her that she couldn't stand the thought of it being either one of them.

Jasper rung out her hair as she exited the shower, feeling a bit better aside from the pinpricks covering her body. She dried herself of and wiped away the charred hair and skin, leaving behind raw red patches all over. Frustrated, she quickly threw on her clothing. Her shirt was long sleeved with black and white stripes. She wore an open, bright red, leather jacket, and plain black skinny jeans. She didn't bother with shoes, not thinking that she'd be going out at all; after yesterday, a nice lazy day by the fireplace would suffice for her. She blow dried her hair, and decided to leave it down for the day. After she was sure that she was presentable, she made her way out of her room, Booze's newly filled food bowl in hand, and went downstairs again.

She made a point of going the long way around to avoid the living room on her way to the kitchen, in case the two love birds were still in there. She set the bowl down on the floor for when her lizard decided to come for it, and began busying herself with making herself a nice cappuccino. She kept a can of her mother's signature blend hidden in a drawer under the counter, and she pulled it out and began preparing to make it. Jasper realized the can was just about empty and decided that it would be nice to visit her mom at the cafe before Christmas, she'd be able to stock up then. She didn't visit often, her mother and her just about lost touch after she joined the Alphas, and she only really visited to refill her cans and drop off checks that she'd make to help her out since she wasn't working there anymore. It's not that Jasper didn't love her mother anymore, she did, but her mom didn't seem to understand why Jasper joined the Alphas, and they didn't see eye to eye about it. The thought made her sad, but she knew that if she visited more often, her mom would think she was going to come back and stay with her, and Jasper didn't want to give her false hope. She also wanted to avoid the terrible fights that seemed to be more and more common in their conversations.

She pulled her mug out of the microwave and grabbed a spoon before seating herself at the table. Stirring her cup, she debated bringing Ron and Rain next time she went, to soften her mom up. She always liked Ron, treating him like a son. Jasper wasn't the only one he had comforted when her dad began to drink, after all. She licked the spoon and took a long drink, inhaling the sweet aroma with a content sigh. Or perhaps she'd bring Arthur, her mother was always a sucker for foreign people. She'd be too busy talking to him about Italy to start up a fight with Jasper.

Slowly, she stood up and walked over to grab a muffin, but the tin was gone. Berkman probably finished them off. Rolling her eyes, she decided to use the pastry making skills she'd acquired at the cafe to busy herself for some time. She put up her hair in a messy ponytail, put on an apron, and washed her hands. Then, she began getting out ingredients and started working on making her favorite desert, a cream and fruit roll. Jasper allowed herself to zone out as she started to knead the dough.

Rain S. Daniels

Rain blushed even deeper at Ron's words. She'd never thought of herself as beautiful, and to hear that coming from Ron, it really meant a lot. Not that Jason, her brother, had never made her feel cherished, but she'd never met a person who made her feel as loved as she was now.

While she was thinking all this, Ron got up. "I kind of stink, so I'm gonna go take a shower." Rain nodded in assent, still deep in thought. "Oh and just so you know, if you want to be, you can be my girlfriend now." The words were jaunty and unexpected. Rain's head jerked up to look at Ron, but he was already gone. Yes, yes a million times! her mind screamed, Rain beaming uncontrollably.

While she waited for Jasper and Ron, Rain sat curled up on the couch, her mind in a whirl. Somehow, Jason had wormed his way into her thoughts, and she couldn't stop thinking about him. Despite the fact that Rain had been the one to disown him (in a sense), she missed him terribly. Now, she could almost hear Jason's voice in her mind, telling her how he was too worried about her and Ron, what if Ron hurt himself in an accident, what if Ron died? She knew that she would almost definitely be the one to heal Ron, but in doing so, she would weaken herself, and then what use would that be? But she held true to her words from earlier, she knew that she would give up her life for Ron if she had to. Jason wouldn't approve, she knew, but then again, what did Jason know? He hadn't been strong enough to control himself, who was he to control her?

"No, Jason, I don't care what you think, I'm going through with this," she said aloud, expelling Jason's voice from her imagination. She got up, looked down at herself and realised that she felt cold without Ron beside her. She ran upstairs and got a sweater, then ran downstairs again.

He saw Rain as she came down the stairs and smiled to himself, he was happy were things were now, real happy. He got up and came behind her, putting his hands on her hips and turning her to face him and picking her up in his hands. He smiled as he looked up at her, "So, my new woman, how about we go shopping, I need to get some presents and there isn't anything more I would love to do than have a day with you." He said as he brought her down enough to where he could give her a kiss. "Can you go tell the people to get us a town car ready, I gotta ask Jasper something." He said as he let her down and with a smile turned to head into the kitchen. "Hey Jas, I'm going to run out with Rain, I have to pick up some things. Tell momma I said hi and I'll visit after christmas, also please get some coffee for me." He said with his head poked into the doorway. "Also, take Arthur and Lauri with you, it'd be nice if you could make some friends ya know." He said teasing her. "Bye Jas, love ya." He said before heading outside and jumping into the town car with Rain in it. "Ready?" He said with a smile as he told the driver to head off.

They had gone to a few places, Ron buying a I-pod for Arthur to help block out the world for in places like cars. A special made pair of gloves for Jasper, a cloth that wouldn't stop her electric current but still warm her hands, and a card he wrote. He had the driver buy a very old and nice bottle of scotch for Lauri, and he already had his gift for Rain. He also gave a list to the driver of things to buy and get to the home before christmas. He walked with Rain down to this small cafe and bought them both some lunch as they sat on the patio. He looked over at Rain, staring a little. "I honestly can't tell you how great today was, you made it pretty nice too." He said as he took a sip of his soda.

"I knew it! You were hiding some from me! Gimme, gimme, gimme!!"

Jasper laughed and scooted the mug just out of Ron's reach. "There's never enough of mom's blend to share. Ever. You'll just have to go buy some yourself." She kept working at the dough and allowed herself a smile as Ron messaged her shoulders, easily working out a knot. "You know where the cafe is, why don't you take Rain there when you two go shopping today?" She suggested, picking up the dough and dropping it into the jellyroll pan before spreading it out to fit the pan. She stopped as soon as she felt Ron's hands leave her back. The atmosphere seemed to turn thick and awkward in a matter of seconds.

He coughed, a tell tale sign to Jasper that something was wrong. She kept her back to him, her hands hovering over the dough as she awaited Ron's explanation of his sudden change of mood. None came.

"Uhmmm.....so you haven't been to momma's in a while right? You should go visit her, get some more blend while your there."

She sighed, but didn't push for answers. Jasper swept a strand of hair out of her face, leaving a smudge of flour on her forehead, and picked up the pan to bake the cake part of the roll. She stuck it into the oven and wiped her hands on her apron. "I'm planning to run over on Christmas." She responded, leaning against the counter and crossing her arms, "I might have Arthur come with me. I sick of her picking fights anymore, it's a lot easier to face her with someone to butter her up first."

She watched as Rain came down and frowned as Ron went over to her quickly, as if she didn't matter anymore. "Well bye, you two." She muttered as they left, then went to working on the filling for the roll. Maybe she would just invite Arthur and Laurie instead.

Rain S. Daniels

Rain couldn't have spent a better day. She had secretly made a list of the presents she wanted to give everyone. It was only a matter of finding the proper ones. Of course, she didn't let Ron see the list or what she'd bought. She wanted every present she gave to be a surprise.

For Derek, she bought a few boxes of Christmas cookies, knowing he would enjoy that. For Arthur, she'd asked an assistant at the music store to help her compile a CD of soothing classical music, knowing that it would help soothe his frequent headaches. Jasper had a similar gift, an MP3 with a playlist Rain had compiled with Jasper's favourite songs. She didn't know anything about liquor, but with a little help from the shop assistant, she'd selected a bottle of whiskey for Lauri.

Ron's present was the hardest to get by far. It hadn't been easy shaking Ron off, but she'd finally escaped his watchful eyes. While he was in the toilet, she'd quickly purchased a watch and managed to slip it into her bag before he returned. Rain tried to be discreet about it, not wanting to show Ron his present before it was time to open it. Luckily, she'd already gotten everything wrapped, including the watch, so Ron hadn't a chance of seeing the presents in her bag.

Later, at lunch, Rain sat at the patio of the quaint cafe they'd gone to, staring blissfully at the scene of others bustling around shopping. She caught Ron staring at her and felt her cheeks and the area above her ears heat up. "I honestly can't tell you how great today was, you made it pretty nice too," he commented. Rain nodded. "Yeah. Thanks for a nice afternoon. And lunch." She smiled.

"Of course." He said with his dumb smile still on his face. He dug through his pocket and pulled out his phone as he checked the time, it was getting a little late. If they wanted to do anything else they should probably leave right then. Ron called for the check as he pulled out some money and put it in the booklet. As he looked around he noticed a toy shop next door, in the window was the same bear that Scott had got for Caroline. Ron stood up and gentle took Rain by the hand, "Come on, I got someone I want you to meet." He said as he grabbed some of her bags and pulled her along to the cab as they drove off.

20 minutes later, they arived at some building, it looked like a daycare. Ron smiled and got out, keeping the door open for Rain to get out. "We'll be right back." He told the cabie as they walked inside. In the doors there were little kids running around everywhere, playing and laughing, it actually seemed a rather happy place. Ron walked up to the counter and the woman smiled. "Hello sir! Little Caroline has been so excited, she can't wait to get out of here to go to her new house. She was rather sad after you explained how Scott had passed but thankfully that child doesn't have a big attention span, she just sits in that corner with that bear." "Thank you." Ron said with a slight nod as he walked with Rain to the little girl as she looked up and smiled when seeing Ron. "Ron!" She said as she got up and hugged him. He smiled and got down on a knee so he could hug her back, very lightly. "Hi sweetie, are you doing alright today?" She let go and picked up her bear. "I'm sad, but you told me I have to be strong for Daddy, so I haven't cried that much." Ron gave a worried smile. "That's right sweetie, you're doing great. Hey are you excited about christmas?" Her attitude switched, that ADD kicking in fast. "Uh-huh, Ms. Suzy told me that I'll have a new home by christmas!" "Yup, and I've made sure Santa will get all your presents to your new home. I spoke to him just for you." The little girl got big eyed and smiled as she held the bear close. "I want you to meet someone, this is Rain, Rain this is Caroline, she was the girl from yesterday..." After they talked for a little and Caroline showed Ron 4 dozen things, they finally left. As they got back in the cab and were driving off he wrapped his arm around Rain's back and kissed her on the cheek. "I hoped you like her, she's a sweet little thing. She's taking her dad's death rather well to..." He looked Rain in the eye as they drove on. "Rain...I adopted her, Caroline's my daughter now.."

Rain S. Daniels

Rain allowed herself to be pulled along by Ron, outside and into a cab. "Come on, I got someone I want you to meet." Rain wondered who it might be, but kept quiet. She would see in time.

Some time later, they pulled up outside a pristine white building. Rain thought it looked rather boring from the outside, but on the inside it felt warm and welcoming. Rain could hear the sounds of kids' laughter resonating throughout the place. She smiled. It reminded her of the times when she and Jason were younger. They would play all day, Rain tagging along behind Jason like a shadow.

Rain followed Ron to a corner where a little girl sat hugging a bear. Ron greeted her cheerfully and knelt down to hug her. Rain smiled again, loving how Ron was so careful with the child. After a few sad sentences were exchanged, the girl perked up at Ron's mention of Christmas. Rain couldn't hear all of their conversation, but apparently the girl was excited to have a home, which she would have by Christmas.

"I want you to meet someone, this is Rain. Rain, this is Caroline, she was the girl from yesterday..." "Oh!" Rain spoke involuntarily as she was introduced to the little girl who had suffered the loss caused by Ron's strength. Rain beamed at Caroline, waving and trying to look friendly. After being dragged around some more by Caroline, they finally left. By then, Rain was exhausted, trailing after a kid all day was definitely more exhausting than it sounded, especially when she had to keep bending down to the little girl's eye level.

Later, back inside the cab, Rain tried to stretch out the kinks in her muscles caused from crouching down for too long. Ron seemed nervous, though. Rain turned to him. "Ron, is there something you want to tell me?" The answer was unexpected. "Rain... I adopted her, Caroline's my daughter now..." Rain smiled. "That's great! So the home she was talking about was with us? She's so adorable, I'd love to look after her. She's got a lot of energy, I imagine taking care of her will be rather interesting."

As they headed home, Rain chattered away about Caroline. She genuinely loved the little girl, and was looking forward to giving her a proper home with the Alphas.
