Aden Kerotan

"Don't worry, I can fix it."

0 · 89 views · located in Captain's Cabin

a character in “Guile Island: Mermaids and Pirates”, as played by SilverStar89

Aden is a 21 year old man with a slight muscular build. Though his frame is rather lean, he relies more on agility and speed than strength or power. That is not to say those attributes are not of importance to him, but he has trained himself to be proficient in others. Standing two inches high of six feet, he is of a fairly average height for a male, although he has encountered quite a few other men who tower above him. Aden's hair is a dark auburn, hanging at about mid-neck length and slightly wavy. His heritage is very mixed, though is thought to be Celtic due to his reddish hair and fair skin. At a pleasant blue-gray hue, his eyes have nearly perfect vision, through which he has taken in many sights of the world.

Unlike much of the crew, Aden is rather introverted, preferring to spend his time reading up on books or painting rather than gambling over a pint of gin. For this, he is often thought to be rather odd, but is very bright despite his lack in physical strength. Social interactions have often been a challenge, and he will often not choose to initiate a conversation. Not because he finds himself better than others, but because he is nervous that what he has to say will be mocked by others. Incredibly, his main talents lie in navigation, marine biology and botany. This has often helped him find edible wild plants when resources are low, or herbal remedies to poison by a plant or animal. With those he is close to, Aden is very friendly and shares his good sense of humor and intellect. Gaining his trust means you have a great ally, but once that trust is broken, it is hard to forgive.

Aden carries a dirk for close combat, but is best known for his unconventional weapons; a longbow and arrow. Archery may seem to be out of place on the high seas, but is a perfect solution to long-distance combat or shooting a foe trying to swim around the ship. The initial shock factor provides an extra second of shock, which can be vital to determining whether a battle is won or lost.

Aden came from a fairly average family, with his father working as a blacksmith in London. After his mother died in childbirth, Aden relied entirely on his father, and the two have developed a close bond. Devastated by the loss of his wife, Aden's father became overprotective in order to raise his son the best he could, often the two would be barely scraping by. When funds became too limited, Aden left his father to find a job of his own, hoping to someday return and allow his father an easier life with his fortunes. After being turned down by various jobs in the city, Aden became desperate to find money, and eventually met Jacob Highlancer. Impressed by his skills, Aden was offered a position, and promised a fair share of the treasure earned. Though Aden is not proud of his ways, it has been the only way he has been able to survive.

So begins...
