History

Image

About three thousand years ago a cataclysmic event caused the destruction of the world. The earth became coated in a thick miasma, a poisonous and corrosive air that brought death to anything that was exposed to it. Out of nowhere the poison had begun to seep from deep inside the planet, causing destruction with earthquakes as the air pushed it's way into the surface. Frightened of their impending doom the people of the earth looked to their greatest minds for salvation.

A year later a professor named Alexander Belmont, brought forward blue prints for massive ships that would carry the people to safety. The ships would float to the sky above the reach of the deadly poison. There they would wait out the suffering, wait for the earth to become pure again so that they could return to their beloved homeland. At first people were skeptical, and rejected his idea. After many trial and error experiments he finally succeeded in creating a functioning model. He took the model to his country leaders who provided funding for the project and allowed for him to build a fully functional life size ship. People were amazed by his scientific genius and adopted his idea as their best chance of survival.

The ships were built and took in as many people as they could before lifting up into the sky. Many people were left behind, many of which were Elves because they were not seen as equals to the Humans. As the ships rose one by one they watched as the miasma created thick clouds, covering the atmosphere and blocking their view of their previous home. The clouds grew on top of each other, creating a thick shield that prevented the miasma from reaching the ships.

After a while the ships prepared to sail back down, but were greeted by a strange sign. Floating rock islands that carried parts of cities and towns, or parts of forest or mountains. The captains and political leader's from all the ships held a meeting to discuss the meaning. Scientists figured the miasma had broken up the earth and disrupted its magnetic poles, and a certain ore within the rock caused the islands to lift up into the sky due to impossibly strong magnetic forces. They believed that there would be no return to their previous home. They then discussed what their future plans would be.

After the meeting people began to gather what they could from these rising islands, that would sometimes disappear below the cloud cover. They added to the ships combining them together, creating cities carriers of civilization which hovered above the surface of the adequately named Cloudsea. The cities took on specific roles, whether they were farming colonies that grew food for the cities, housing and urban cities meant to house as many people as possible, or military colonies to train the protective forces of the sky cities. They became a new people, created allegiances, new governments, a new world. Novus-Terra.

For many year's the cities grew, created new inventions like robots meant to serve many purposes, as well as building many smaller sky-ships resembling the size and shape of their previous boats. The world went on a steady climb of prosperity for a while, but the longer things dragged on the worse things became.

Thieves known as sky pirates began to show up, they harassed the military by attacking their ship from below the cloud cover. As well as the occasional commandeering of ships simply to take their supplies. The pirates became a bigger presence in the world and helped inspire a sense of exploration amongst many of the people. After a much longer time, the supplies that the sky-cities provided were no longer able to keep up with the demands of ever-growing populations.

Now cities are covered in grime, populations so high that resources are a major issue, and crime is becoming rampant and common.
The cities are experiencing many problems, and have no solution for how to solve them. The prosperity age of the sky-cities is faded.
What will become of the world?

A ship know as the Daedalus has appeared looking for adventurer's who are willing to go on a great expedition into the Cloudsea and look for ways to solve the problems of today. Although there are doubts to what it's real purpose is.

Chapter 1: The Pirates of Lightning

The Daedalus has finished its first journey into the fabled Gulf of Storms, a part of the Cloudsea from where too few have ever returned alive. They were tasked with testing out experimental technology created to harvest lightning as a power source. Although the technology already existed, this new invention was supposed to be safer and provide twice as much power.

Inside they encountered a mysterious band of pirates with technology many years ahead of their time. After a long battle the crew of the Daedalus came out victorious, although they did not escape unscathed. They are now headed to the nearest Sky-city. Tirwelld, also know as "The city of Liars" is home to one of the largest prisons on the Southern Wind(The winds are the current names for the countries.).

The pirates they encountered, where had they come from? What were they doing in the Gulf of Storms? And where did they get their technology?

What kinds of adventures does The City of Liars hold in store for our adventurers?

Chapter 2: The City of Liars

Upon arriving at Tirdwell the crew promptly began to relax. They enjoyed themselves at a local bar when things went to hell. A famous and dangerous criminal had escaped from the prison a month prior to their arrival. He had hatched a plan to free the rest of his inmates. He rigged the entire sky-city with explosives, and once the explosions went off the city's different living sections were torn apart from each other, the city was barely held together the city was in danger of falling to the earth below.

The crew was separated into two groups each experienced something different. One group of the members of Daedalus discovered the real intentions for this attack. A group of terrorists organized the attack as an announcement of war, their intention was to display what the image humans held of the Elves had been reduced to. As the prisoner's ran rampart through the lower levels of the city, the military leaders of the city decided that it would be best to completely separate the lower levels of the city and let them fall below the clouds. Taking care of all the prisoners, as well as sacrificing the elven citizens.
The terrorists knew the military would sacrifice the lives of the elves. The crew did the best they could to save the elves, but in the end the under-city fell, and the prisoner's as well as the Elves went with it.

The world is now on the verge of civil war. Elven riots, and protests have begun to well up all over the sky cities. All were enraged about the incident at Tirdwell. Some time passed and the tensions grew stronger. Eventually the South Wind was taken over by the elven rebellions. They made threats to the other nations, if they would not free all the elves they would wage war.

In response to the threats, the East Wind began to gather it's military power. The Daedalus was called in as well.

Chapter 3: The Isles of the Ancients

The Daedalus has been brought in to the sky-city of Eiregard, the Eastern Wind's royal city.

They have received a new mission. To explore an uncharted part of the sky where a large amount of islands have begun to rise up from below the cloud cover. You are to investigate these islands and the strange ruins various reports have told of.

What could cause these islands to rise from below in such large numbers? What could these mysterious ruins be hiding behind their walls.

You have been recruited to take part in this expedition.

You will begin in the capital city of Eiregard. A large and beautiful sky city, that has been very well maintained over the years. People here are living with much better conditions than in many other places, and even the poor have an easier time here. The upper part of the city is actually the royal palace of the East Wind, where the royal family resides. Recently though there have been several protests held by groups of elves, people are beginning to worry that those peaceful protests will become violent protests.

After receiving order's from the military you have been invited to join the Daedalus, which promises great wealth and fame. You volunteered to go with this expedition, you were not forced. Today the ship will depart and your adventure will begin.

Synopsis of the World, and it's current state.

The world of Novus-Terra, is a world in the sky. The people of the world escaped a deadly and corrosive air that began to cover the world by fleeing to the sky. After learning that they might never get to return home, the ship inhabitants reformed their thoughts and decided to begin a new life in the sky. They recovered scraps and debris, that floated up to the sky due to a strange magnetic force that was caused by the miasma. The additions to the ships became so large that multiple ships came together and became cities.

The world exist purely in the sky, no land except for the floating islands where most of the resources that created the sky-cities came from. Several centuries later the world faces a time period filled with struggle. Governments have become monarchies, and have strong segregation of the classes. The resources that they relied on are becoming scarce and conflict is beginning between sky-cities.

Pirates are attacking merchant ships and supply frigates, taking whatever they can to ensure their own survival. The population of the cities has become very high, and living conditions have become very poor. A few cities have fallen below the clouds, and an influx of wanderer's, people with no permanent residence in one city, has created crime within the cities.
The last thing, is that one of the two original races that came to the skies is dying out. Elves, who faces extreme prejudice and are often traded as slaves, are becoming few and far between.

The Daedalus's purpose is still shrouded in mystery. They are being tasked missions from an unknown source in the military. You are part of this rag tag crew of adventurers and you might one day uncover the truth below the miasma.

As of now, the world is in even worse shape, as the result of a terrorist attack the elves have begun to riot against the humans. Tensions are high between the city governments and the protesters. The Southern wind, which held the largest population of elves has been taken over by the elves, and they threaten to begin war if conditions for their kind do not improve. For some strange reason, the heads of the government are not responding to the problem.

The Sky Cities

Many sky cities have become corrupt favoring the strong and leaving little to the weak. The cities have been separated into three different social districts.

The Noble district is populated by High ranking military officer's, political leaders, highly regarded scholars and the wealthy. It is by far the smallest district and usually exists at the very top of the sky cities. They have the purest and cleanest water, the cleanest air and the most living space, but few people ever get to live in this district.

The Central district is the largest of the three and is composed of many parts, the most important being the docks where ships come and go, large trading centers and housing quarters, hospitals, schools, military barracks, and recreational facilities. Mostly though this areas focus is that of commerce.

The Lower district is the second largest but nowhere near as big as the central district. Because of the shape of sky cities the lower district receives less light than the others, creating a dark and gloomy appearance, and making the difference between day and nigh seem like nothing. This section is mostly populated by the poor, and the people who run maintenance of the city. The living conditions are severely affected by all the machinery that keeps the city functioning, in some cases the factories in which weapons and ships are built. The high crime rates, and risk of pirate attacks make it a dangerous place to travel at any time of day. Being the lowest level all the water they get has already been recycled from the above districts and is rarely clean. It is often referred to as the Undercity.

The Winds

The Winds are the names of the continents and countries of the Cloudsea. They refer to the large group of Sky-Cities that travel together on the same wind current. The four Main continents are;

The Northern Wind- The largest and most militarized continent. A few decades ago the Norther Winds tried to take over the other winds. They launched a war campaign that lasted over twenty years. Their incredibly advanced technology forced the other winds to fight together to ward off the attackers. They are now isolated from the other continents and live a secret life of seclusion, hidden behind their constantly patrolled borders. Their capital city is called Nordsvein.

The Southern Wind- Is the most agriculturally developed wind. They also hold the smallest population and army, but are a major trading superpower. Has the largest population of free and enslaved elves.Their capital city is Sadrael.

The Eastern Wind- Holds the largest population of citizens. They are the most culturally diverse nation and are the second strongest military power besides the north. They also have the most well kept sky cities, and a large water supply. Their capitol is Eiregard

The Western Wind- They are the most ravaged by pirate attacks. The people of the western wind have a strong sense of unity and brotherhood, they have a very small difference between their social casts and have by far the least segregation. They are composed of much smaller sky-cities that float near each other instead of very large independent ones. This continent is home to many floating islands, which is why the Western wind has the most scholars. Their capitol is Wynn

The Elves

As stated before the elves are a scarce and dying race. Their history is lined with prejudice and discrimination. Treated as inferior to humans, they have been the victims of many crimes and cruel punishment. Many of them are slaves, fated to work in servitude for the rest of their life. Elves that want to avoid being enslaved must apply and pay for Freedom Checks, which are documents that state that they are free citizens and are allowed the rights of any human, although discrimination usually prevents them from being able to have the same accommodations as a human; They are also quite expensive.

Although in certain parts of the sky discrimination is not as strong and with enough work and dedication any elven citizen can actually earn a decent living and even attain respect a midst the people of the sky. Many Elves use their fabled intellect to work in the fields of science and machinery. Some even becoming wealthy inventors and highly regarded scholars, although the chances of that are very, very slim.

Elves as a form of tradition attain a tattoo of the seal of the sky-city they are born in. Sometimes they are small and simple, sometimes they are large and extravagant. The tattoo is a symbol of the unity of the elves, for they know their lives will be full of pain.

Human relationships with elves are looked down upon so cross species partnerships are rare. Halfbloods can find it even harder to live than elves, because of their human blood they cannot be enslaved but it is hard for them to find any social acceptance.

The Robots

Discovered only about 150 years ago, robots have come a long ways. They are well developed enough to have independent personalities and have become very "human" because of it. Although not everyone enjoys a tool that has a mind of it's own. So there have been numerous petitions to outlaw the free will of machines. Robots that are outdated can find themselves living of scrap pieces of metal and recycled oil found in the gutters of the Undercity. [/size]

The Men of Red Cloth

These mysterious agents are responsible for recent terrorist attacks on sky cities. They dress in dark leathers, the only color is on a long piece of crimson cloth that they wrap around their waist, up round their neck like a scarf, and then over their heads to make a hood. They are very well trained in combat, and are even better at escaping from pursuers. They prefer death over being captured. Their origins are unknown.

Toggle Rules

1. First of all no Godmodding as always.

2. Keep it somewhere between PG-13 and R, just the right amount of mature content without it becoming tasteless. Which means no explicitly sexual content or overuse of blood and gore.

3.Semi-lit, I want at least two well written paragraphs per post, less only in special occasions which i hope don't happen too often.

4. Open story line. Most of what happens is based on how you react to the plot point we eventually reach in the Rp, there are various plot points that we absolutely will hit, but it doesn't mean that we wont approach it from a completely unique direction.

5. Use common sense, if you are confused about a certain aspect of the world ask first. For example, if you are not sure what kinds of animals live in this world just post in the OOC, something like "Are there Unicorns in this world?".
Btw there are no unicorns in this world.

6. Be nice and respect other players.

7.I'm not going to ask you to put anything special in your character profiles so I know you read the rules.
If you did good for you, I like you.
If you didn't, well you can go to hell.

Fire rained down beside him as he rolled, avoiding being crushed by a collapsing pillar. The air was fire now, no matter where he looked he only found more flames. Explosions shook the ground beneath his feet and made it harder for him to run. He pushed through, sprinting unsteadily as he avoided the inferno. He made it to a clearing where he stopped to rest and collect his thoughts. Every where he looked he saw the same thing, flames bursting out of homes tearing apart the under-city, incessantly consuming everything they touched. He was sweating profusely, the heat was too much, even for him, but he was too angry to notice. He was here for a reason, he couldn't walk away from this like the rest of his crew. He began running again, jumped through a wall of flames and safely landed on the other side. There up ahead on the very edge of the city he saw them. A ship black like the smoke from the fires stood waiting on the edge of the city. Aboard the ship he could see them a small group of men and women wearing the same black leather uniforms with the red scarf. He kept running, climbing over fallen debris and ducking under the blast from nearby explosions as he headed for the ship. When he finally cleared the fire he stood motionless, his clothes burned and his skin covered in ash and sweat. Two men forcefully carried a girl who was bound and gagged on board. He had seen her before, right before everything happened, she was part of the Daedalus.

As he stood watching, a woman noticed him standing there and motioned to her partner. The two of them rushed Edwin with cutlasses held high above their heads ready to cleave him in two. He snapped out of his trance and reached for his weapon. He used the barrel of the gun to parry one of his attackers' blows and rolled away in time to dodge the blade of the woman. He lifted up the gun and prepared to take aim but they came at him too quickly. He held the gun up to block the woman's sword and then kicked her knee causing her leg to buckle. He turned the gun and prepared to strike her on the head when her partner lunged at him. He managed to avoid getting hit by the full blow, but the blade made contact with his right shoulder. He winced but regained composure quickly. Ed parried another blow and spun around the man striking him in the back of the head and sending him falling to the ground. He prepared to fire, but some one stopped him right before he pulled the trigger. He turned around to see a a pair of glowing orange eyes looking him over like a fine piece of jewelry.

"Well done! Those two are no push overs, taking them out like you did was impressive. Kudos my friend, you have certainly proved your mettle." Harris the man who organized the entire attack stood before him applauding his actions. He looked at the two henchmen yelled,"You two, back on the ship, NOW!"

"Harris." Edwin began.

"Ah! How wonderful, so you do remember me!" He laughed a most cynical and bone chilling laugh.

"You're not an easy face to forget." Ed said spitefully.

"Does that mean you remember my offer? Or were you too distracted by my astonishingly good looks?" He chuckled at his own joke. "So, have you made up your mind? We don't have all day Edwin, in case you haven't noticed the city is currently being remodeled, we're having the walls, ceiling and floors removed!" He laughed his chilling laugh once more.

Edwin stood quietly for a moment as Harris laughed. "I have." he began, Harris stopped laughing and stared at him with a smirk. "I will not stand still any longer, I will join you."

"Fantastic. Now get on the fucking ship, this whole place is about to go down below the clouds, I don't intend on being here when that happens." Edwin and Harris hurried towards the ship. Before Edwin stepped on board he heard a cry coming from behind him. He turned quickly to see the face of the Halfblood stowaway. Angel had tear's in her eyes the noise drowned out her pleas but he could see it clearly on her face. She wanted him to stop, to go with her and return to the Daedalus. Behind her the rest of the crew showed up to take her away. Their faces were full of scorn and disbelief, they would never see him again. He turned and walked aboard the ship as it took off he never looked back.

Chapter 3: The Isles of The ancients

The streets outside were full of people. It was hard to tell apart the protesters from the people gathering to see the Daedalus. It seemed like a bother to have to go through all those people to reach the ship. The docks were clearly visible from the noble district. He was claiming the reward from his last bounty. A mercenary job had him fly out to the Bragadian sky to negotiate a hostage situation. One of the Eiregard nobles had the misfortune of "misplacing" their son, and a band of pirates had happened to find him and were willing to return him for a small "finder's fee". Rhev managed to negotiate with the pirates and got the son back for his own "finder's fee" which was considerably less that the pirates. It had taken a week to claim his rewards, signing paperwork and waiting for it to be processed was the least exciting part of his job. While he was waiting to be paid he heard new's of the Daedalus and enlisted to join the mission. The faster he got out of Eiragard the better. There were certain people he would really like to avoid seeing.

He was now walking down the long and weaving staircase down from the Noble District to the docks. They were more crowded than usual and the closer he got to the docks the more people showed up. He reached the bottom of the steps and was greeted by the loud cheers of the people gathered there. It was almost like a festival, people carried banners wishing good luck to the vessel, streamers and confetti were flying in the air. A small rift in the crowd let the sailors of the ship carry supplies on board. All of the sailors were being praised for their efforts to help save the sky. Already they have helped with various new technologies and performed great acts of heroism. The ship and it's crew sailed into the gulf of storms and returned alive. They brought power to the city of Belna before it fell due to failing engines. Fought against a small army of pirates that seized control of a Watershell (The large frigate ships that carry the technology to gather clean water from clouds and then deliver it to the sky-cities) and brought water to the East Wind. They had also managed to help save many citizens when Tirdwell was attacked.

Now that he thought about it they did deserve a little praise. He sat at a small cafe by the docks looking out the window at the crowd. It was a nice place, the smells of coffee and freshly baked bread. It reminded him of when he was sick, Nowah brought him breakfast from here. He shook the thoughts out of his head and took a bite from his doughnut, these were the kinds of foods he missed when he was out sailing. He always ate like this before he set sail he never knew when he would get the chance to eat this way again. He scanned the area outside the window looking to see if he could spot anyone else who would be joining him on the ship. Apparently they needed mercenaries because of their intimate knowledge of the Cloudsea, or street smarts of the sky. He was sure he wouldn't be the only mercenary boarding today.

Edwin strode through the halls of the black ship the crimson cloth of his new uniform comfortably wrapped around his waist and neck. It had been several weeks since the incident at Tirdwell. At the beginning the training was difficult, he had never been pushed so hard before in his life. He finished his training a few days ago his body had finally grown accustomed to the physical toll of the daily drills. The uniform was new, but it fit nicely. He was on his way to the holding cells. One of the prisoners was to be released into his custody. Simply put they would become his servant. At first he was against it it seemed hypocritical to have a slave when he was fighting to free the elves. He then found out it was a machine, and though it may be controversial he was more accepting that a machine would serve him not a human or elf.

He finally arrived at the holding cell door. He looked down at the name of the prisoner, Victoria Elizabeth Bellamy. He knocked on the door and opened it, a robot girl was sitting on her bed, "Hello?" he said.

Victoria looked at the wall, how did this happen? Why did she ever leave home?
She sincerely hoped that the kid,the doctor,Red,or anyone really, would tell the captain and the crew of the Daedalus would come for her or at least send some help. She really believed it,thought she'd be a captain of a mighty ship and when that wasn't possible,at least get to be in the crew.Go on grand adventures,be a hero for robots everywhere.Victoria wondered who send that letter, cursing their name, now she would be a slave. You'd think elves of all people would know better!
Vicky heard what would happen to her and what happened to the city, these people seemed to take pride in there cruelty! Victoria wondered if her grandmother was put in a similar place when she was taken away from her then 10 year old creator. She put her face in the hands, unable to hold back tears. She heard a knock and wiped her face.Tory heard a voice and looked forward to see a young elven man about her height, who admittedly looked rather good in his uniform."Hello,I guess it wouldn't help to tell you that my grandmother was an elf."
Somehow I thought that elves understood, that we're all stuck in this mess together, fighting hatred and discrimination, but I guess it's just a great big food chain!,she thought bitterly."I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for some stupid letter that was supposed to be from the deadbeat man my mother married and I didn't even meet."

Light trickled through wooden shutters, creating odd patterns of sunlight to play across the face of Victoria Shround. With a quiet moan, her eyes fluttered open. Her lips parted in a grin at the prospect of a new day. Ria's line of work was particularly dangerous, especially for a woman. There isn't a choice of taking a day living for granted.

Swinging her long legs out of bed, Victoria ran a hand through her soft, brown hair. She walked over to the glass bowl that sat on her dresser. Dipping her hands into the cool water, she splashed her face several times until she was fully awake. Her father always told her that she needed to be more of a morning person - one day she's gonna wake up to a knife against her throat, and how will she do anything if she can't even remember her name? Ria may excel in all other parts of her career, but waking up and being fully alert wasn't one of them.

Then it hit her. The Daedalus was leaving today! Victoria ran to the window, tore open the shutters and checked the sun's position in the sky. Cursing beneath her breath, she sprinted to her bag (which, thankfully, she'd packed the night before) and pulled out a pair of trousers and a loose white shirt. Slipping them on, she ran a comb through her hair while struggling into her boots.

Tying them in record time, she slung the bag over her shoulders (while stuffing her comb and other items she'd left out inside of it) and ran to the window. The street was crowded with people. "I hate crowds." Ria mumbled, while jumping out the window. She landed on a window sill, which she used to swing onto the roof of a shop below.

Keeping above the busy street below, Victoria ran towards the ship. Then let out a sigh of relief; they weren't leaving yet. "I can get something to eat, then." She leaped to ground, and studied the different shops around her. Spotting a nice pastry shop, she stepped inside, breathing in the sweet scent. Out of her peripheral vision, she noticed a man sitting with his back to the corner and his eyes alert. He was a mercenary if Ria had ever seen one.

Her stomach growled, reminding her how hungry she was. "Excuse me, I'd like one of those rolls." She pointed to the biggest one that was on the counter. The plump, merry looking woman behind the counter nodded, grabbing the roll from beneath the counter and rolling it up in a piece of brown paper. She handed the appropriate amount of coins to the woman. Victoria then walked to the door, leaning against the frame while sinking her teeth into the warm, gooey center of the roll.

The city was alive today. The streets were filled with people, all talking about one thing: The Daedalus was in port. Greyson Wallace Aldridge III sauntered down the street, whistling a merry tune and twirling a straight razor by his side. The nickel-plated blade of the razor glittered as it whistled through the air, and people noticed. After all, how often did they see a person openly brandishing a weapon in the streets? As the streets became more congested with people, however, Gregson had to put the razor away. He didn't want a gaggle of murders on his hands right before he began a new adventure. There was plenty of time for that later.

Gregson arrived at the docks to a spectacular sight: The Daedalus was truely a magnificent ship. It stood proud, it's silhouette framed against the midday sun. The mere sight of the ship inspired thought of swashbuckling adventures on the Cloud Sea. Gregson checked his pocket watch and realized he was actually early. Gregson scanned around the plaza and spotted a nearby cafe. He had been there once or twice. He remembered this place because they had a particular brand of wine that he adored. You know, a spot of wine would make this day even better.

The cafe was having a good day, as it had a healthy stream of customers moving through the shop. Gregson approached the counter and ordered a glass of the wine. It quickly arrived, and Gregson took a generous sip. The wine's flavor titilated his tastebuds, the rich, slightly bitter taste was the perfect compliment for this fine day. He turned away from the counter and sat down at a booth. he scanned the cafe again and noticed two people who stood out. From their appearances, he guessed they were also mercenaries. Quite possibly they were also ggoing onto the Daedalus. Well, I don't want to be overbearing. If they want to talk, let them come talk to me. Even if they don't, We will most certainly meet later if they are also embarking on the Daedalus. Greyson sat back and took another sip of his wine.

Sculley clunked along the roads, pack held tightly to his chest as he made his way to the docks. This was the day, he would finally have a purpose again and not just any purpose, he would be the doctor upon the famous Daedalus! Although his original meaning was to simply do chores that organics dubbed too tedious to take part in, he soon found he felt he was meant to be in the sky. Working on the ships was the most enjoyable task he had partaken in, although some tasks he was asked to do would make him question himself later, in all he had enjoyed simply being on a ship.

Feet clanking loudly as he drew closer, the sight of the ship only caused him to walk that much faster. It was beautiful, a simply glorious sight. His progress was slowed as the crowds grew thicker and generally being a pacifist he wouldn't just shove the pedestrians aside. "Excuse me, um pardon me. Would you mind moving aside please?" His mechanical voice rang as loud as his volume would go but it did no good. These people were simply too excited over the Daedalus' appearance to allow others to draw closer. Well, since that was the case he supposed he should just find a place to wait out until the crowds possibly thinned and he could go aboard. Being taller than most it wasn't difficult for him to scan about with his black eyes for a suitable waiting spot. "Ah, there we are." He stated to himself as he made his way into a small cafe.

The magnificient ship caused him to stare at it as he walked which ended in him running directly into a woman standing in a doorway in the cafe. "Oh! Excuse me madame! I wasn't paying attention, how terribly rude of me. Pardon me." Nodding his head to the woman he took a few more steps backwards to only knock into a man sipping wine. "Pardon me sir! I certainly didn't mean to run into you. Excuse me." Making sure he was turned the right way to watch where he was going this time, he turned his head to nod to the man and then quickly take a seat before he could cause anymore damage. Oh, this bulky exterior is more trouble than it is worth. He fiddled with his bag, now on the table, and kept his eyes on his belongings before they once more drifted up to watch the ship outside the window.

Allen was speechless, It was as if some one had turned the on switch of the city. People was all over the place heading in the same direction. If the whole city wants to see it, I might as well go see what the fuss is about. They were all heading towards the docks, well goodie the ships parked their so i'll kill two birds with one stone. IT had been what Allen thought was weeks since the indecent with the whole blowing up the city and not knowing which wire to cut and so on. Since then Allen had been working with the Deardelus trying to make sense of all the technological mystery's that hid deep in it hull. A good few day he spent trying avid to understand why some one would put two peices of metal together with a heck load of wiring and two screens, along with a few buttons with what allen could make out as x and a. The only thing it actually did was show a bunch of weird looking animals Allen thoerized it was a data gathering machine on weird animals. It even had a log with all the animals it saw.

But now things were going pretty fast paced, from where he was headed people were making a lot of noise, Well that's just great. All Allen needed was a bunch of people protesting again. And from the looks of it, the noise was coming from the Deardelus. Perhaps the crew was deceiding if we should leave and people didn't want us too??? No, maybe they want us too leave??? No, who would think that? Well what ever it was Allen was about to get stuck right in the epicenter off all the fuss, a place he doesn't like to be, in any occasion, especially when people are making a fuss. But it was too late, "Oi e's one of em, Eh Boy where ya thnk ur going eh?!?!"
"Ehehehe now where my fine fellow."
"Now wats u call me boy, i don't take no watsit little talke from you posh people!"
"No no no sir, i didn't mean to offend you...its just and then he remembered he was standing in the Deardelus and not in the epicenter anymore nothing."and began to walk away to his cabin.
"Oi you come back er.... y.o.uu.. sc...." and the rest was just noise.

On the ship Allen had come to know so well, he was at his home away from his home which wasn't technically his real home because his home was now here. He wondered why no one was here yet, the recruiting for the ship started days ago. But if people were going to show up today was the day, precisely 10 seconds before we leave was the running bet he had made with the captains robot. A fine fellow that robot was. Beside the ship there was a cafe and it seemed to be a rather smaller amount of people crowding the ship on that side, so Allen thought well why the heck not, i don't believe i lose the bet if i win the bet because of me. A short hop skip and jump and Allen was standing outsid the cafe (standing was a overstatement, he more rolled into the cafe). Standing up as quickly as he could he dusted him self of and froze, he was surrounded by mercenaries from what it looked like. Offering a quick smile he walked to the back of the cafe and ordered a roll, the biggest one taken by the mercenary standing by the door. Already he was at loss.

The cafe always attracted strange kinds of people but today it seemed to drawn in strangeness like a sort of magnet. Now not every one who walked in through the door was a weirdo just about every third person was more accurate. The first one he saw was a young woman who looked like she had just gotten up, her hair was somewhat messy but one could tell she tried to straighten herself up before leaving her home. The way she ate her pastry made it clear she hadn't eaten breakfast either. He took a sip from his coffee and watched the crowd some more. The next few people that came into the store were nothing special, they came in got their food and left. Then a man in fine clothes and a strikingly well kept mustache walked in. Rhev found himself staring at the man who ordered wine at such an early hour. His stare was broken by a clumsy robot who burst in and ran into damn near everyone in the cafe, thank god he had been sitting near the back of the place or else the ditsy machine would have ran into him as well. After the robot settle down there was another stretch of quiet and calmness in the store. It didn't last very long as a shrew young man rolled in through the door, quite literally. Rhev looked outside to see things had only gotten worse.

The crowd outside was getting bigger and it was now clear not every one was simply there to see the Daedalus. About a third of the crowd had now become full of activists fighting for the freedom of elven slaves. Rhev couldn't care less what happened to the knife ears. It wasn't that he didn't like elves, it was the situation that was getting on his nerves. You couldn't go anywhere nowadays without someone talking about it and then getting into a huge argument about whether they should be free or not. To him the knife ears had it better than they knew it, those servants usually lived fairly well they only complained because they couldn't see it. This was coming from a man who had to work all his life to get to the Noble district only to have himself removed the first day he lived there. Unlike him many elves got a free ride into the lap of luxury. If they wanted to fight against that, it was not a single part his business. He tried to get his mind of the crowd.

Rhev picked up his bag and moved to the table the robot was sitting at. He liked machines a lot more than he liked people, almost all of them had this disposition towards him that other people didn't they also wouldn't back stab you and run away with the love of your life, at least most of them wouldn't.

"Oy, Maria! Could you bring me another round of coffee?" He asked the waitress while holding up his empty mug above his head. He put it down on the table and stared at the machine for a moment. "G'day mate. Hows the day treating you so far?"

Edwin laughed an honest chuckle at the girl. He wasn't sure if she was trying to be funny but her remark made him laugh. He walked in and knelt next to her, he was on the bad guy;s side now, but he sure as hell wasn't evil. Underneath the uniform was still a part of the old Edwin.

"No, it doesn't really help you much. Sorry to hear that, I know what it feels like to not know a parent, or both. Now hear me out before you go labeling me as the bad guy. This whole idea belongs to my boss not me. I'm not too fond of slaves so how about I just call you my assistant? It has nice ring to it don' ya think?" He stood up and pulled a handkerchief out from his person and handed it to the robot. "Here. I didn't even know robot's could cry."

Victoria quickly realized there were still oily tears on her face so she took the handkerchief in to her hands and wiped her face."Thank you,I do like the term assistant better." As she took the handkerchief away from her eyes she took a closer look at the man, based on all his scars as well as his words she figured he did have a hard life.Vicky was very tempted to ask if they hurt but thought better of it.She suddenly realized she had be twiddling her fingers again. She had gotten up a few times,to dance to the radio or to walk the circumference of the tiny room just to keep her legs from hurting or write lists of things in order of dates, importance, anything(one was "Things I am presently sick of", being in the same small room made the top)she could think of really, confinement could get really boring, but the thing she did most was twiddle her fingers and worry.

She wondered who the other prisoners were, but she knew such a question should be phrased carefully. She also wanted out of the room even more than out of the now smelly dress. Then again being in the same clothes as you were knocked out in meant you could rest easy knowing nothing happened in the meantime... "So does this mean I can leave the room now?"

The movement outside became even more chaotic as the crowds grew thicker and now more rowdy as activists joined the group. It was honestly something he didn't understand, of course elves would want their brethren free but why would there be humans in the mix? Perhaps some of them truly cared about the plights of other races but most he believed were just in it to be argumentative and have something to fight against. Organics didn't seem to be ever be satisfied, if one thing is fixed then another will have a problem with it. They just weren't happy unless they were debating. Quickly dubbing it useless to try and figure out such complex creatures, he took to watching the ship once more until a man suddenly took a seat across from him.

Now Sculley hadn't taken notice of any others in the cafe, asides the ones he ran in to of course, but past that he didn't spare another look. He thought it might be taken as a rude gesture to stare at others so this man's appearance was quite surprising, he hadn't even realized how many more were in this cafe. Hm, perhaps he should work on his perceptiveness. Well, maybe he could start with picking out particular things about his sudden company. Ah well that is most certainly interesting. He thought as his eyes strayed to the man's partial mechanical hand, was it the result of an accident? It was then the man shouted for more coffee and took to staring at Sculley until he finally spoke. Well this was even more suprising, normally organics didn't speak to him of their own volition but it was quite a welcomed conversation. "Ah, the day is treating me splendidly sir and I hope it is the same for you. I'm to be boarding the Daedalus soon, quite an exciting thing for me. I couldn't help but notice your bag sir. Are you going to be joining a ship as well?" At times Sculley could be off putting with how he would just jump instantly into a conversation but he was often times so excited to have a willing conversation partner that he put no thought into it.

Allen was glad he didn't gather THAT much attention after his rather big entrance (Allen could see people running, walking in backwards and even fighting into a cafe but not rolling). As he bit into his roll he turned his attention to a man who'd just ordered some coffe and then sat next to the robot, and the man wasn't all human him self (at least that's what his little device told him). "oi Allen can ya stop leaning on the glass eh?" It was the cafe owner, the glass Allen was leaning on was the newly polished counter she just got. "Sorry Maria" And so Allen moved over to the free table closest to the door and watched the crowds out side get louder. People tended to get louder when it was loud, the "oi stop shouting amplifier effect" as his friends back at Uni used to call it. They even studied it for a while, the results were quite deafening. Finished with his roll Allen pulled out the little machine with two screens and began avidly trying to catch the elusive orange fish that did nothing but bounce about (but Allen knew all this bouncing eventually made it stronger than all the other animals).

With out any luck Allen thought it a good idea to return to the ship before it was only possible to get on the ship by air, Which he could do, but didn't want to. As he walked out of the cafe he turned his head and shouted to Maria "Oi! see ya Maria!" but not seeing where he was going he tripped over the women at the doors foot. As the world suddenly started to turn 90 degrees Allen had the wit to throw his hands up in the air and shout "Ayo coming through!" As he nimbly flipped over and continued walking towards the ship, taking care to not get seen by the man from earlier. Allen just hopped that women he tripped over wasn't getting on the ship.

"Watch where the bloody hell you are going!" Gregson yelled at the robot that bumped into him and several other patrons. His wine had been spilled, but luckily none of it got on his clothes. Red wine was almost impossible to get out of white fabric. With a sigh that sounded almost of dejection, Gregson got up from his table. He hated seeing good wine wasted. He quickly paid for his drink and headed out of the cafe. The scene outside had grown even more out of control as the crowd cheering for the Daedalus had quickly turned into a protest for Elven rights. Honestly, Gregson couldn't care less about their rights. He didn't own any Elven slaves, he didn't associate with them, but he also didn't discriminate. At best, he was indifferent.
Not wanting to deal with the mob for much longer, he quickly pushed his way through the crowds and made his way towards the Daedalus.

Victoria grumbled at the robot that all but plowed over her. How had she not seen him coming? Her eyes lowered to the roll in her hand. It was incredibly good, and even better since it had been weeks since she'd eaten something other than hard bread and tasteless meat. Silently vowing to stay more alert, she finished the roll.

"What is it with people today?" Ria mumbled, as yet another person bumped into her. "Then again, I am standing at the door..." With a shrug, she stepped outside the cafe. The crowd had only gotten worse; a full out protest, with random people joining just for the heck of it.

"Is it not possible to protest peacefully?" Victoria asked a nearby elf. He scowled and started yelling at her about equal rights. With a smile and a 'good to see you too', she walked off. Ria hated crowds, though, and in a few moments she was up on the roofs again.

The Daedalus was easy to spot, and Victoria made her way towards the ship. "She's a beauty." Ria muttered, walking on board. A few of the sailors glanced her way, one offering a tooth filled grin. "Hey, boys." Smiling herself, Victoria walked along the ship, admiring it all the way.

Ria noticed the man who'd made the grand entrance into the cafe - then bumped into her on his departure. "Ah, we meet again, eh?"

"Ah, we meet again, eh?"

Gregson turned around and spotted a woman standing behind him. He recognized her from the cafe. In fact, he may have bumped into her on his way out, now that he thought about it. He flashed her a charming smile. "It seems we do." Gregson bowed deeply, with a very large flourish. " Gregson Wallace Aldridge the Third, Mercenary and Barber Extraordinaire, at your service!" Gregson rose from his bow. " I take it from your being on the ship you are also a part of the new crew for this fine vessel. May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?"

As he finished speaking, Gregson pulled out one of his straight razors and began twirling it, almost completely without thinking. It whistled through the air, the sunlight flashing off the blade with an almost hypnotic beauty. He spun the razor in between his fingers and tossed it about, flipping it open and shut with surprising speed. He moved his hands with expert precision, making the incredibly sharp blade flow between his fingers without giving himself so much as a scratch. Gregson finished off his little routine by throwing the razor into the air from behind his back, caught it mid-flight, and flicked it closed. He quickly sheathed it again and noticed the expression on the woman's face. "Sorry, an old habit of mine. I do it almost without thinking these days."

Allen was perhaps having the worst of luck today. Not only was the women he bumped into on his way out of the cafe on board the Deardelus but it seemed everyone who took notice too. Well at least he'd managed to elude that awfully loud man he'd seen before, and hoped to never see again. Attempting at best he could (which was pretty good, seeing he spent a lot of his uni career hiding from teachers) to avoid the women and the man who she was talking too, he kept to the edges of the ship heading straight for the door to the lower decks where his quarters where. Looking back once more to check if they had spotted him he saw what he thought would leave any many who attempted, it without a hand. The routine the man pulled of was seemingly flawless (that is until Allen could study it). And Allen could see he wasn't the only one who thought so, and that the man wasn't the only one with a few tricks up his sleeve. As Allen thought this he made a mental note, don't make them your enemy, the last thing you want is to die. So Allen decided that now was a good time to make a few friends, and headed over the man (furiously thinking of something impressive to do). With nothing in mind as he arrived, just as the women began to maker her returning stunt Allen said to the man "impressive handy work. High five?"*

* This was the best he could think of. Had Allen two more minutes he would construct a speech that would make the best politicians seem like a bunch of blubbering idiots.

"That's good to hear, looks like I'll be joining you as well. I wasn't sure what to expect from the other crew mates but you're alright." He sat back and watched as the other people in the cafe began to leave one by one. "Looks like they're headed on board as well. How's about we get movin' before they leave us behind." Rhev grabbed his bags and slung it over his shoulder motioning for the robot to come along with him as he walked out the door. The crowds were getting too loud and the strange air of celebration has somehow begun to fade. As he walked through the crowd he could tell the mood had changed the protesters had stepped too far it seemed. Half way through the crowd he could hear angry shouts coming from every direction and he hurried along. By the time he was at the ship and free of the crowd he too a moment to look back, everyone was in chaos now. It was easy to to see a few people were already throwing punches.

"Looks like a good time to leave." Rhev said under his breath as he boarded the ship. He looked around and noticed a few familiar faces. Almost everyone at the cafe had shown up on the deck. That was a strange coincidence.

"Yeah, it means you can get out of this room and walk around freely actually. You'll have to come with me whenever I'm on the ship but if I'm not here you can go wherever you please. Remember though you are under my jurisdiction so please don't do anything that will get me in trouble." He reached out his hand and helped Victoria out of the room. "I've got to go report to the big man right now, so stay close ok?" Edwin began walking down the long hallway leading up to the captain's office. He gave a quick nod to the man guarding his door and the guard let him though.

"She's a beauty." The man commented on Victoria. "What's a guy gotta do to get one of those?"

He ignored the comment and walked into the office. The room was well decorated, Harris may be crude at times but he had a certain air of elegance about him, his taste in interior design reflected his high class persona. Edwin knelt before him bowing his head.

"Ah so you've become acquainted with your new toy have you? I hope she performs to your liking." Harris had a knack for getting on his nerves. Edwin just stayed quiet. "Anyway's I've got your first big assignment, aren't you the lucky one?"

"Your will is my duty sir." Edwin replied.

"Always so uptight aren't you. Huh. Anyways You remember that old ship of yours the Deedle whatever?"

"The Daedalus sir."

"Right, riiight. That one. I need you to destroy it." Edwin looked up in surprise the grin on Harris's face as malevolent as always. "You see those nosy pricks have a habit of sticking their noses where they don't belong. We've received intel that they are on their way to investigate some islands that recently showed up. The thing is there are many private and embarrassing things on that island that we would like to keep to ourselves. You will take the first recon team with you, those guys really know how to get rid of things I don't like, you could learn a thing or two from them. Now get out of my office, Thomas upstairs will fill you in on the rest of the details."

Edwin stepped outside and looked to Victoria. He smiled a soft smile, pretending that he was totally fine after his meeting, and then turned away from her and began heading upstairs.

Victoria was about to follow the young elven man when the guard gestured that she wasn't allowed any farther. That guard was about the last person she wanted to listen to in the world, but as she didn't want to take any chances. She was really glad not to be stuck with him,she was fine with being called a beauty but wasn't to be talk about as if she wasn't a few feet from him.Her current situation sucked, but it could be worse. Her charge seemed kind enough plus he really did looked good enough in the black leather of this extremist organization.Speaking of said organization, she could understand their motives even if their methods were horrible.

She felt something on her behind, something very hand-like.She slapped it instinctively and heard a wolf whistle. The young robot felt the mud in her boots swish as she moved which disgusted her greatly. Finally, the door opened and the young elf came out,but the strange thing was that the other man in the office was that human,Harris. Her charge smiled for some reason and climbed up the stairs,Vicky followed. Victoria looked ahead, she had seen the sky and clouds before but not nearly at this size or this close. It was beautiful, they were surrounded by pure white wool like clusters glistening in the sunlight surrounded by a light blue ocean.Tori couldn't help staring at the beautiful scene surrounding her.

Perking his head a bit more in a sign of excitement, body language and voice tone being the only way for him to portray emotion since his face was set in stone, one could swear he was smiling at the fact this kind organic was going to be sailing with him. Even better than that it seemed the man appreciated Sculley's company which meant he already had a friend! He could call him that couldn't he? His friend? Well, it certainly seemed that way when the man motioned for him to follow so they could both board. Ah, how exciting, he wasn't even on the ship and already making acquaintances! Grabbing his bag and slinging it over his shoulder he quickly followed the man outside. "I must say that it will be a pleasure sailing with you sir. Your company appears to be quite agreeable as well." Before Sculley could continue the conversation further, or even ask for a name, they were thrust into the middle of a turbulent crowd. Once through the mass and with a vantage point high up it was easy to see how quickly the festivities had turned violent. "Oh dear." He mumbled quietly while looking over the scene before turning and walking farther onto the ship. It seemed the day was just going to be full of surprises because not only did he recognize one but two faces on the ship! The man and woman he had accidentally bumped into earlier were here. Oh, was that really a good thing? Well he supposed that he would see when the time came. "So if you wouldn't mind my asking sir, what is your designation? Uh, your name I mean." Whether the man meant for it to happen or not, Sculley would be sticking near his new found friend for quite some time.

"Gregson Wallace Aldridge the Third, Mercenary and Barber Extraordinaire, at your service!" He bowed, then rose. "I take it from your being on the ship you are also a part of the new crew for this fine vessel. May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" About to answer, Ria was distracted by the blade he flicked into the air. Victoria watched it as it spun gracefully above their heads, then as the man caught it at precisely the right moments. He must have been doing that for quite awhile to execute it with such precision.

"Impressive handy work. High five?" Ria looked over to see yet another man from the cafe. Hm...weird.

Not waiting for Gregson to say anything, she introduced herself. "The name's Victoria, but call me Ria." She stuck out her hand, grinning all the while. The young woman loved adventures; and this seemed like a good one.

Edwin walked up on to the deck of the Harbinger the ship was small so it could remain undetected when they flew about on the Cloudsea. His boots were soft against the wooden deck, they were specially designed for stealth. He turned to look at his new companion, the look on her face was priceless as she stepped onto the deck with him.

"First time out at sea?" He asked her. "Yeah that's about the right face, the one everyone makes when they see it up so close." He walked towards the railing and stood silently for a moment. He stared out at the sky with her taking a deep breath of the fresh air.

"Funny," He began, "Some people spend their whole lives aboard one city. Even though the sky is right there in front of them." A solemn look made it's way onto his face before he continued. "Ever since I was a kid, I looked out over the edge of my city trying to get as close as I could. I used to work in the maintenance level of my city, I was an orphan and since I wasn't human I had to work for my food. It was always dark, being the lowest level of the city it was hard to get a good view even from the edge, all the smoke took care of that. So one day I snuck out, climbed all the way to the central district and made my way to the docks. Man was that hard, I remember every other person I walked by gave a strange look, who could blame them, a little elven boy covered in grime and soot walking through the market was pretty unusual. I didn't care much they could think and say what they wanted about me I was there for one reason.

I stood on the edge of the docks for hours. I watched the clouds fly past so close it felt like I could reach out and grab one. All the boats that came in and out of the port were so big and magnificent I couldn't force myself to leave. That's when I decided to become a mechanic, I wanted to work on engines for ships so that one day a noble or a merchant would purchase me and I could sail with them. In the end I was never adopted, I grew up became an adult, decided I liked not being a slave. So I did my best to avoid slavers and merchants. If it wasn't for the Daedalus I never would have left. Right now I would probably be hiding in some dumpster trying to avoid being caught. I can hardly believe I have destroy it."

He stopped talking and just stared out at the sky a little longer. He never opened up like this, it felt strange he felt vulnerable, and it bothered him a little, but at the same time it was kind of nice. This girl, it was hard to accept that she belonged to him. "Me and only me." He whispered quietly to himself.

"Dathney, how is the mission coming along?" Harris spoke into the radio device in his office. "Are the preparations in order?"

Dathney sat atop a tall building on the far east side of Eiregard overlooking the large crowd that had formed around the docks. She had been sitting there looking at the crowd through a scope on her rifle. Though she was beginning to get bored. At last Harris called in on her radio.

"Yeah, about damn time you checked up on me, this mean I can finally start the damn operation?"

"Wow. This is how you speak to your boss, how un-lady like."

Dathney sighed. "Sorry sir."

"Better, and yes launch the attack I've checked in on the others once you pull the trigger the entire operation begins."

"Lovely." Dathney hung up and snickered, this was her time to shine. She readied the her rifle and chamber a special bullet into the gun. She pulled the trigger sending the bullet flying straight into the sky. About half a mile away it burst leaving a small but bright cloud of green smoke in it's trail. The operation was go, and she needed to move to her next position. As she readied her equipment to move on she took a look into the crowd, the other agent's were at work causing the peaceful protest to turn violent. This was the perfect distraction they needed. Soon it would become an out of control riot and many of the guards men will be sent away from their posts. Leaving the castle wide open.

"Ah, my god. Can't believe I never told ya, the names Rhev. What's yours again?"

He turned to look at the other member's before commenting on them. "We got ourselves fine lot of loonies here. They look totally unprofessional, except for Mr.Fancypants over there the other's look like they could barely hold a gun."

As he said that the sailors on the ship finished their preparations and the ship slowly took off. Finally they were headed out into the sky, took long enough. As they left he could have sword he heard a gunshot and looked back at the city they were leaving behind. The crowds were in total chaos now, not a sign of celebration remained on the people faces.

"Woah," Rhev whistled, "They really seem upset we left. Either that or those bloody activists started another riot. This whole thing is tearing the sky apart. I say leave things be, or surrender and set the elves free. But let's not talk about that, one reason I'm on this ship is because of all the bloody gossip. Everywhere you go people are talking about it, geez, talk about annoying." He spit over the edge, something he did when he got frustrated, it was like he was getting rid of his anger. He looked at the robot and spoke again. "By the way, how about you, what in the hell made you want to come on such a dangerous trip?"

Jack was worrying himself out of his warranty as the ship left.
"That bloody captain. Oh dear, how could he abandon me at a time like this. Oh my what am I supposed to do as acting captain? These are sea hardened sailors how am I supposed to address them? I don't even have a captains's hat!"

He stared into the mirror and his artificial eyes stared back. The frail robot, and second hand man to the captain was now in charge of the Daedalus for the first time since they departed. Pirates seemed nice compared to having to speak in front of people.

"At least I can hide from pirates."

"Oh goodness sir I don't believe I ever stated my name either. I'm Sculley and it is an absolute pleasure to meet you Master Rhev." Sculley couldn't believe his luck, meeting such a nice individual such as Rhev right off the bat. Certainly this new expedition would be one of the more enjoyable ones over the hundreds he'd had in his lifetime. His new companion carried on the conversation by making a comment about their fellow crew members. Sculley let out a chuckle, a sound that resembled a sort of mechanical hiccup. "It seems we are quite the ragtag group doesn't it? I'm sure they all have their own skill sets to allow them the privilege of sailing on this ship though." At least he certainly hoped so, if what Rhev said was true then they were in for some rough sailing with only a bunch of inexperienced odd organics as their aid.

The distint sharp snap of a gunshot caused Sculley to whirl about as gracefully as his form would allow. His acute hearing had picked up the sound but the shooter certainly couldn't be picked out of the mob of humans below. It was becoming quite dangerous down there. "Oh my, I certainly hope they straighten out before anyone is harmed." His eyes stayed on the scene unfolding below as the ship began taking off and Sculley listened as his friend ranted about the upset caused by the plight of the elves. It seemed the situation irritated him enough to take to the skies in order to escape it. He had stated it was only one reason and the naturally curious robot couldn't help but wonder what the other reasons were. Before he could ask, Rhev spit over the side of the boat before asking him his reasons for being here. Cocking his head curiously at the organic display, he only paused briefly to dwell on what the gesture meant before answering. "Well sir to put it simply I came in order to have purpose. I'm an older model, quite old actually, 110 in fact and one of the last of those who share my hardware. I was built to serve, to be given a job and do it before moving on to my next assigned task. That's not to say I don't have my own thoughts and morals sir, not at all but I seem to be incapable of, as you organics say, finding my own path in life. I recently found myself without an employer and this proved the perfect opportunity to give myself meaning again. Dangerous situations are a small obstacle compared to living out my life aimlessly." Suddenly realizing that perhaps his companion didn't want such a long winded explanation he quickly made to apologize. "Oh, pardon me sir I didn't mean to r-r-r-r-r" One quick punch to his chest and he continued. "ramble, sir. Ahem, as I said I'm quite old."

Gregson looked at the crew of misfits gathered on the ship. The crew couldn't honestly be any more diverse, in his opinion. All of the others seemed engaged in conversation with one another, leaving Gregson standing in the midst of it all with nothing to do. He hated having nothing to do. So he quickly moved away from the crowd of mercenaries and found a les busy part of the deck. He grabbed a spare crate that was nearby, removed his jacket, and pulled out a small object from his belt. it was a small barbershop pole, with alternating red and white stripes that slowly spun. the pole also had a small fold-down sign that simply read: Shave and a haircut ~ six pence. The entire rig sat upon a telescoping stand. This way, Gregson could practice his trade anywhere he went.

He quickly removed his shaving razor. The blade was razor sharp, able to split a hair. But, you could never be too sure, so Gregson used the leather strop the also hung from his belt to sharpen the blade. Once that was finished, he gave the razor a quick swing through the air, the whistle of it like music in his ears. It didn't take long before the crew noticed, and those that were not particularly busy at the moment stepped up for a shave.

Victoria listened sympathetically to the young man's story, imagine being alone all that time! Something about his story made her want to hug him,but as that would be awkward she suppressed that urge.He used to be part of the Daedalus, she ws right when she figured they were nice people. Then she heard the words ..Destroy it... "Wait what!?" Tori must have been louder than she figured because a large portion of the eyes on board were staring straight at her."Edwin som lan vulca."(Edwin's got a crazy Gynoid), a woman muttered inconsiderately loudly. At least I know his name now. Victoria's cheeks turned oil brown with anger,"And a good day to you too!".She then realized the woman had walked off.She lowered her voice."You can't do this, there are good people in the crew,I even dare say the whole crew is made up of good people!" Her voice became panicked,"One of them even saved my life, please don't do this." I hate Harris, his cockiness, his crudity, his laugh even! Just when I didn't think he could be more of an a#@! She wondered what she could do,as far as she knew she had less influence here than one of the mops.

She realized she might have found the answer. She could just about happy dance."You're freedom fighter right?",she asked calmly."Well, how can you claim to not be a slave if you allow yourself to be at the beck and call of a human?",she really hoped this would work. She turned and looked towards the sky again."A rich looking one at that",she causally added. This had better work...

It was dark; the sky tinted pink with the growing dusk. The sun smeared across the clouds, lighting the battle raging in the sky.... The painting of warfare grew as guns clapped, the thuderous sounds of cannons echoed across the sky...

Sierus watched as the Eramthgin's gunner's worked tirelessly to reload cannons and muskets, rifles... any muntions they had. Tedious by any means, but Sierus could manage himself. Princess in hand, he was by the stern of the ship, firing at an opposing pirate ship. A ranged battle wasn't his forte. He popped over the small barrel he was using as cover, trying to line up sights... before firing. The pistol had no problem reaching leathal distance with it's projectiles... but Sierus's marksmanship was by no means a trained sniper. Not to mention, he was still using iron sights. Occasionally, he'd watch a pirate fall... and it thrilled him to no end.

The distance beween the ships was dwindling... and Sierus felt his blood heat as if on a stove. His heart drummed; urging him on. But it seemed as soon as they were withing boarding distance, the other ship began to stay it's course...Halting the apperent boardin manuever. Sierus only yelled taunt to the sky, leaping up onto the raised edge of the ship's side. "Cowardly crows! Beat your wings away, like you do, you timid creatures! You're not fit for the sky, so keep your boots on land!" Sierus called, with a cackle. There were vulgar cries back, but they didn't go noticed by Sierus... whom returned to cover. Bullets were bouncing all around him, and cannonballs smashed parts of the ship - damage, but not critical.

But this range was much more effective. Sierus was now dropping these 'Crows' like they were dummies. The Eramthgin's position was slightly elevated over the other ship, giving them that much more advantage. And it was all Sierus needed to actually be getting kill after kill.... An ego boost. He even managed to get a shot at the pilot through a broken wall - what luck! They were shooting at a sitting duck! This caused half the crew to cackle gleefully... including Sierus. As the enemy crew dwindled, they began to take more defensive positions, and it was much harder to shoot them out. Sierus's ear picked up the hint of anger in his captain's voice.
"FINISH THESE MONGRELS! If we have to board, you might not get a chance to get off after we sink it!"

It was all the motivation Sierus needed. Not that he wasn't having a blast anyway, his twisted little mind getting kick from watching every one of their men drop like flies to his pistol. Sierus quickly jumped up on the ledge of the ship, laughing as he did, pointing his gun at the invaders from behind cover. He began to use his new angle, grinning as once again, his pistol barked death for men. "Haaahahahahaaaa! One, two, three - I'll shoot you ALL dead, deary me!" He said with a laugh. As his revolver clicked empty this time, he felt for more bullets in his jacket, breaking the revolver open and begining to reload...He noticed a bottle of grain alcohol. He wasn't much of a drunk, and didn't know what it was...by the light he knew it was flamable though! After snapping his revolver shut, he grabbed the bottle, smirking. He tucked the revolver into it's holster, and knelt down. He felt around his shins - grabbing some of the tight, thick cloth he kept around his ankles, tearing one of the strips off that made stripes. The odd clothing kept people guessing...but it was for this reason he wore them. He uncorked the booze, and shoved the strip of cloth inside, successfully stopping up the bottle. Sierus shook it a few good times.... before looking around. One of the cannoniers next to him had a match tucked behind his ear. He swiped it; no exchange between the two needed - he saw what it was for. Sierus struck the match against his leather coat, watching the object spark to life. He lit the makeshift fuse on his new toy, and grinned. He hopped back on the edge of the ship, laughing as his barrage of pistol resumed. This time, as he clicked empty, he wreched his arm back, and called out. "Things are quite much heating up, aren't they, you feeble dogs!"

Sierus wheeled his arm forth, slamming his foot down as he hurled the molotov through the air, the bottle crashing on the deck of the other ship, and bursting int bright orange flame, earning a cheer from the Eramthgin. Fueled by applause, and his adreniline, Sierus stood on the edge, recklessly reloading as he cackled delightedly, as men rushed to put out that fire...and were put down by Sierus's revolver. The fight was becoming one sided.... Sierus turned, only to be rewarded with another molly. He grinned at the crew that had cooked it up, and turned around, whirling it as he'd done the first! Again, the bashing of the bottle filled the deck of the ship with flames! Another elected cry of joy from the ship. Sierus turned around again, taking yet another improvised alcohol-flamebomb, and turning around to face the opposing ship.... He was so delighted to watch the flame slowly consume the enemies' ship. And then he saw it...

The flash of a cannon blast, fired by a robotic man, standing in the flames. He laughed as he never saw the projectile. He must've missed! That idiot! How could he miss a ship from pistol range?!

But suddenly... he felt himself falling down, overcome with a sense of....misplacement. Something was wrong. And he hit the deck. Hard. It felt like he fell with a sack of bricks on his chest. It felt like the hardest fall he'd ever taken. The wind was knocked out of him. He couldn't breathe. Everything was slow... And as he looked around, he could see it: A dismembered arm. He looked at it curiously, as blood spurted from it healthily, muscle tissue and bone jaunting out from it. Fresh. Almost throbbing. And then as he rolled his head... he froze.

His right arm. Gone. Right out of his socket. The same sight that he'd seen from the arm itself - blood everwhere. Tissue of flesh and muscle throbbing as the flesh conveyed messages to the brain. Two messages.

Pain. Fear.

Even in this world of slow motion, his heart felt as if it were trying to burst from his chest, beating faster than you could blink.
His mouth opened.... "AUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHAAAaUUUU!AAAEHHHUUUGN!!!!" Shrieks that could make even the other pirates cringe with terror. Cries of pain that shook the heavens. His body writhed with agony, worming around as he gripped near his shoulder, blood splashing in heathy pulses. Tears ran down his cheeks, face curled into the most pained expressions man could make. Others rushed to help him. Picking him up.
"M-my-my aaarrrrm- they fu-ffffuuuucking blehw o-of-off my AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRMMMMMMM!" He screamed, unable to control himself. He kept shouting.... kept shouting in pain, and fear... untill his vision faded.

And as his vison faded, he came to.

Sierus woke up in sweat as he normally did. His past did well to haunt him on a nightly basis... but this was not the only night that he was visited by such a wretched dream... He remembered that day clear as the water that filled the glass on his nightstand. He slowly sat forth from his hammock, sighing as his weary feet hitting the floor. He stood himself up, and looked around the dark cabin...the only thing standing out was the glint of a mirror. He woke up many times in his place. The Daedalus. It was just about the only place he would lay down to rest... It was like a home to him. He smirked gently, wiping his brow clean of sweat... and quickly dressing himself. He looked over himself. His face was looking a little more elderly every day... but it was hard to look in the mirror and not see Reuben. He quickly changed the topic in his own mind. He had no intent on being mopey today. This was the day he was going to meet the new crew of course! All the new faces and people! They were usually so much fun... Although he had heard nothing them, he tried to remain optimistic in the fact that they were going to be meeting HIM! He grinned again, shooting a playful look at the mirror. "Chin up now! No need to actually get all down and dumpy today! Who knows? Maybe you'll even make a friend!" He said, talking to himself in the mirror. He chuckled off his strange attitude, before heading towards the deck of the ship.

Sierus walked out onto the deck, observing the city they had been stopped in. Sierus very rarely ventured out into these ritzy kind of places. He was always raised differently. The people here seemed to wasteful... yet so carefree. Even the downtrodden and homeless found life easier. It kind of made Sierus... jealous. He'd grew up a harsh life of thievery and distrust - his father nowhere to be found... and his mother a harlot. It wasn't untill he started hanging around the monk when he started to clean up his act... maybe when he was ten. It was hard to say. He couldn't even remember what city he was from. All he knew was that the people here had it too easy.

He sighed. He was being too negitive.

On the bright side, the supplies that the Daedalus was inheriting from the ports were only the finest. Meaning that they'd be eating good for the next while, which was a plus. Tender meats, fresh breads, coffee and tea instead of just hot water. Such luxuries were admired by the rather weathered veteran. Spoiled, maybe. But he didn't really care. He figured that since he was paying to be here (Not really paying money - the captain wouldn't take it. More off by working.) he figured he might as well get his money's worth. Sierus was still a 'mercenary'. But since the Daedalus was seeing more, and the fact he wasn't paying any more...well. He was more of a member of the crew by now. He did other things - things he could do here and there. Since he'd gotten over his fear of singing in public, and sometimes entertained the crew by singing. He wasn't much of a cook, but he could do things like chop vegetables, and whatnot a one armed man could do. Weapons detail was also something he not only did, but took pride in. He loved weapons - sharp swords, accurate rifles... a shame he'd lost Princess. It was the last of he had of Amiliea.. and the best damn gun he'd ever had.

His eye opened as he began to venture back from the Wonderland that was his life...standing over by the edge of the ship, looking unto the dock, his arm folded behind his back. As he noticed the newcomers venturing on, he said nothing. Standing, as a statue would be. His lone eye following them to and fro if only for a moment. He noticed a man setting up a.... pole...what in the bloody blazes.... Was he barbering? Barbering... was that a word? Cutting hair...to barber.... "Digression!" He announced loudly, shaking his head, and shrugging. He turned on his heels, looking towards those whom were new on the ship. "Aaaaaanywho-a-lou, let's get aquainted, shall we?!" He asked enthusiastically, looking at noone in particular. "How about some names first!?" He asked, pressing his hand to his chin. "Hnnnnmmm.... YOU!" He said, jabbing his hand out in the direction of Rhev. "A name, a place, a reason, a cause! Let's hear them all, please! Deary me, I hope you don't mind sharing!" He said with a bright smile.

Creepy. Juuuuuustt a little...lot of creepy.

"Purspose my friend is overrated, but to each his own I suppose." Rhev laughed at the robot's stutter. Before he could continue his conversation large man approached them. His missing arm and eye gave him a quite threatening appearance. Rhev tensed up as the man prodded him with question's losing some of his threatening appeal the man started to come off as a weirdo.

"Uh, name's Rhev." He began, "I'm one of the new mercs the Daedalus hired. No real reason to be here besides wanting to be back out on the clouds, I'm a bit of an adventure seeker. I hear this crew gets a lot of excitement. " He turned his back to the railing and leaned, crossing his arms and giving the man a quick look over. "Might be too much excitement for me from the look of things. What the hell happened to ya? You're in worse shape than my buddy here." Rhev pointed to Sculley. "No offense man."

The Daedalus was well on it's way the city of Eiregard now vanished in the distance. A large and vast sky spread out before them. The sailor's seemed to get along with each other fairly well, many of them were going below deck since dinner would start soon. The ship was an image of peace. Jack on the other hand was falling apart. He had spent all day worrying about how he would handle the ship. In a a few hours he would give his toast at the dinner banquet. He would also tell the crew the details on the mission.

Right now he stayed in the captains's quarter fashioning himself a uniform that made him seem pirate like. He believed a gruff looking outfit would make him seem more authoritative than he was. His slander and weak build was not one to inspire respect in people.

Victoria struck a nerve in him.
"Things are more complicated than that." Edwin turned to look at her with a cold and serious expression. "Harris is not what I would call human, he is a monster ruthless and unforgiving. His way is the only way. In time you will understand my reasons but for now you need to trust me. Either that or go back to the holding cells. I don't want to talk about this right now."

Thomas was Edwin's trainer he had taught him everything he needed to know to become the fighter he is today. He walked up on them while they talked and when it looked like they finished talking he butted in.

"Ed, looks like you got a mission on your hands. About time eh?" He put his hand on his should and looked at him with pride. "You elves have a knack for learning things, but you are the best student I've ever had. No one's picked up my training as quickly as you."

"Thank you sir. Your compliment is well received."

"Still respectful I see, that's good to hear, many trainee's forget about respect once I'm not their superior. Anyways about your mission. Thomas pulled out an envelope from his uniform and handed it to Edwin. "Inside you will find special order's created to fit your specific set of skills. Don't open it until you are on the Daedalus. Ed, I've got a bad feeling about this one, I can't quite put my finger on it. Whatever you find on those islands you best keep to yourself. Be careful." With that farewell Thomas headed back under the ship to the war room.

Edwin looked at the letter in his hands before tucking it away.
"Victoria, come." He said, a different air surrounded him now. He was not the same weak elf he once was, this would be his chance to prove it. He headed to where the other member's of his team were waiting for him. The recon unit guys were all pretty reclusive and kept to themselves. They always got high class missions and special masks that concealed their faces completely. They were mysterious, dangerous and everyone wanted to be them. Ed already hated them.

"Hey there pal!" one of the first approached him and wrapped his arm around his neck dragging him forward onto the ship they would be taking.

"Well, look at this. We got the brave Edwin joining us on the mission. My what an honor." One of the guys said as Edwin walked on board. His mask had a large gash in it, like some sort of scar. Ed freed himself from the mans hold, and stepped away giving him a fierce look.

"Guys let him be." One more recon member showed up, this one seemed different than the rest. "Hey there I'm the one in charge of first recon. The one who had his arm around you is Keets, the guy in the fucked up mask that's Liam." The leader walked up to him and took his mask off. "My name is Nowah."
Behind the mask was the face of a human girl. Not at all what he expected to see he stood dumbfounded when she offered to shake his hand.
"What's the matter something on my face?" She joked with him.

"Oh sorry. It's a good to meet you, I'm Edwin." He shook her hand and looked to Victoria. "This is Victoria, she's my. . . assistant."

"Bloody hell, this lads got a slave? Why don't I get one?" Whined Keets.

"Shut up Keets, be respectful. I'm sorry for my friend, hes an idiot but hes good at what he does. It's good to meet you both. Welcome aboard our humble vessel."

Wait,Edwin is--afraid of Harris?,Victoria realized, puzzled. The one thing she was sure of was she wasn't going back to the holding cell it was small, boring and nobody talked to you if they didn't have to.Then a human walked up to Edwin,he seemed to be on good terms with him.Victoria wondered if there was some sort of discrimination within the ranks on the ship, there did seem to be a lot of Humans on board for a group of freedom fighters. If that was there real mission, the young Gynoid was suddenly filled with suspicion that she decided not to share with Edwin. Tori heard something odd,Islands as in more than one? I wonder what Harris wants with freedom fighters and islands.Doesn't seem like your typical power grab.
Victoria followed Edwin with obedient silence and saw strange,lovable-lug type man hug Edwin's neck that Edwin didn't seem to appreciate.Everyone on the team seemed to be wearing masks, including a human woman? Nowah somehow didn't seem like a very Human name, then she wouldn't know. She gave Keets a look and turned around quickly and wiped it off.The tall brunette Human seemed to carry herself with an air of the confidence that comes only with experience,Keets not so much.

XD Don't worry about it, Ark. Just good to have you back. Anyway, I heard that game is awesome.

But yeah, we could just kind of fast forward to the Daedalus crash landing on some land mass, maybe the same one they were supposed to be exploring in the first place. Then the crew would get to have a ton of fun play "Search and Destroy" with the Red Cloths. XD

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

@Ark
Perhaps we could skip ahead to the point where we are near this Mystery Ilses of yours, or something to that effect.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

@Ark:I don't have many ideas right now, maybe we could capture Ed.
@Everyone
30.I will not ask Victoria if she's a persocom as she never watched Chobits...or any television for that matter.
31.For that matter if I ask "Why so Sierus?",I will keep in mind nobody can see how I'm spelling words in my head and DC comics doesn't exist in this world.
32.I am not allowed to hug a crew member's leg and refuse to let them go while declaring them "mine".
33.I cannot dress up as the "Ghost of Angsty Back-Stories Past" for Halloween.
34.I am not to take out a life insurance policy on any crew member before a battle without telling them.
35.I will not bother the navigator with such trivial questions as "Are we there yet?".
36.I will not try to explain the concept of "Casual Fridays" to Red Cloth members.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

Hey, sorry I've been gone. I feel like a rump hole for leaving the way I did. Thing is I keep getting distracted by a lot of things most recently Skyrim which has officially sucked up sixty hours of my life -_-'

Anyways If you guys are still willing I'll probably do a time skip post and sort of move things to the next step.

Tell me about where you think we should head next and whatever we can agree on will probbably be what happens.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

Yeah, no kidding. It has to have been at least two weeks since our last post. We need some action in this RP. It pains be to do this, but I suggest moving on without CortezHorse. It's not fair to hold everyone else up for one person.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

oh wow, Sierus has really been down in the dumps, hasn't he?
i might rejoin, but this seems kind of...dead...

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

YES!! :D Sierus needs some cheering up. ^-^

On another note, it's been a while since the last post. Should we keep waiting for CortezHorse or just move along without them?

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

Jacopo's back, shall we tell him that we started a new rp?

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

No worries, Ark, you haven't missed anything. CortezHorse's been held up with real life stuff, so we're still waiting on a post for Sculley. :)

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

First I'd like to apologize for leaving without notice, I just got back from an unexpected road trip.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

@Cortez
No worries, I can understand the confusion.
I think the idea is that they just set off a bomb on the ship, so the Daedalus is going down and the Red Cloth are in the process of escaping the their own ship. It's up for debate whether they're off yet or still sticking around to get some fighting it. So really it's up to you how you want to play it in your post.

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

Pardon for lack of posting, work 50 hours a week, go to school full time and having meetings with the Coast Guard to juggle tends to suck your free time away. ;p No excuses though! I am confused though so maybe one of you could help me because who knows I could be overlooking something. Is the group that attacked the Daedalus gone as SolrSurfr, utahnn and MadHatter suggested in their posts or are they still there for fighting as Vio suggested. Just trying to make sure I get it right. ^_^ Thanks. :)

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

I believe we're just waiting for Sculley's post now. Am I right?

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

Someone post,IC or OOC at this point I don't care!

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

I'm for having a chapter that's neither prequel nor sequel,I don't think I've gotten to play Victoria enough.
I also think we should do a fan flash for this rp,everyone knows what a fan flash is right?

I have an idea, how about we make them crash a ball or another rich person event next chapter

Victoria:How about that weather?
Rich guy:You have mentioned that six times already.
Victoria:But it's so wonderfully sunny!
Rich guy:(perplexed look)It's rainy bucket loads.
Victoria:Nice to hear that...

Re: [OOC] Gunship: The End of Peace

@Ark

I am very fond of Gregson, so if you are making a new Gunship RP, i would prefer one that is set in the future (as compared to the current role play). But, if not, then I don't see the harm in introducing one of Gregson's ancestors. I am in the same boat as Vio-Lance, i have plans and plot ideas for Gregson, and I would like to continue the character. But, I am also fair. If everyone else wants a re-boot, then I am on board for it as well.
