Full Name: Harper Elle Valine
Nicknames: Harpy
Age: 17
Hometown: Baker, Oregon
Ethnicity: Average Caucasian
Sexuality: Bi-Sexual
Coven: Laveau
Years spent at Hecate: 0
Specialty: Harpy specializes in two major abilities: The first is powers manipulating the element air; the second is abilities given to her through being a Medium and an Empath. An Empath has the ability to feel othersâ feelings and channel them for knowledge or for magnification/reduction. Being an air elementalist she is given the powers of Aura Manipulation, Pressurization (the ability to induce high pressure on someoneâs skull), Cloaking (pulling a dense, foggy air around herself to be less noticeable or not seen at all), and minor to major manifestations of air as a physical force that can be physically used as a weapon against enemies. As an Empath and Medium she walks a thin line with the spiritual world. She has ties with the spirits of the dead and of the living. Working in the dead side she can Astrally Project (the ability to project the consciousness into an astral form outside of the body), the ability of Aura Manipulation, Dream Leaping through Astral Projection, Spirit Dominion (the ability to have minor control over spirits), Spirit Writing (The ability to receive and relay messages from the afterlife), and Spirit Absorption (the ability to feed on spirits energy to heighten oneâs own). Being a spiritually psychic vampire sometimes makes Harpy feel like a possible slightly evil person, but it works in the pinch of thwarting the enemies. Among the living she can manipulate both the emotions and spirits of others, giving her the abilities to tamper with auras and certain memories with strong emotion. She can both magnify others emotions, or release them upon absorbing them herself. Being able to do this often allows her to push thought suggestions into others based off giving them a stronger emotion toward what she wishes them to do. It also stands to say it comes in handy when this ability gives her a slightly enhanced intuition based on the projected feelings of others. All of these abilities are her main arsenal of magick.
Abilities: Harpy works great in a team setting, as a lot of her abilities work off of others. She has basic magickal powers on a generic and academic level. Sheâs decent at spell casting, spell writing, runes, divination, herbology, and does well in most areas of learning magick, even excelling quite a bit in learning necromancy due to her own ties with the dead. She lacks in the ability to consistently successfully create working potions and sees it as a major downfall of herself. The potions have a tendency to both literally and figuratively blow up in her face. Outside of magick, Harpy is an artist and has wonderful natural talent in painting, drawing, and making things with her hands. She often forfeits magick to create things the old fashion way. Sheâs a crafty character in plenty of ways. She also has a knack of cooking great food, though it is rarely used since she came to H.A.G.S.
Familiar: Harpyâs familiar is somewhat unusual, though others may have a more âwitchyâ companion, Harpy somehow ended up with small canine friend. Her little furry friend is a mixed breed of terrier and shiatsu, a female, and barely stands over a foot tall in all her long haired fluffy glory. Others seem to be somewhat non-plussed upon seeing the dog, but Harpy doesnât underestimate her companion as she has proved her worth on countless occasions in just the seeming short three years Harpy has had her. Stumbling upon the small, fluffy, black and white pup, Harpy named her Panda, short for Pandemonium, as she was quite the little ball of energy as a puppy. Panda is a wonderful companion for Harpy. Sheâs always happy to see her, dutifully sits in on the circles Harpy casts, and holds a light of intelligence and seriousness in her eyes in all things involving Harpy.

Personality: Harpy has a very amusing personality. She is very humorous in a very sarcastic way. She can be seen as something of a pessimist to others, consistently stating the obvious downsides to situations, but on the inside she is comparable to a rock. She keeps a steady unbreakable pulse on life, not letting things get her down and get the best of her. She has an equality-based outlook on life, never believing that people are better or less than she is. She has a sense of seriousness and dark humor about her, but can also be seen breaking into random episodes of dancing or singing, and sometimes both. When the mood strikes her Harpy can be an energetic lively character, though it is usually on the basis of an attempt to cheer up a friend or loved one.
Despite her perceived quiet demeanor, she makes friends fairly easily and thoroughly. On the other hand, she also just as easily makes enemies. Others either love her or hate her. She believes in honor and duty and does not shirk responsibilities where it really counts. She can sometimes be seen as a slacker on the small stuff (homework for example), but she doesnât break promises and tries to never let her friends down. She is an easy character to get along with as long as she isnât messed with before roughly ten in the morning. She is not a morning person.
Likes: Reading, cooking, swimming, crafting, and being sociable, coffee and cigarettes, singing, dancing.
Dislikes: Drunken parties (as all the emotions greatly affect her), lack of stimulating conversation, people who âhate onâ her dog, people who are way too perky in the mornings, and lasagna.
History: Harpy grew up in a somewhat poorer area of town. Her working class single mom was always gone, leaving Harpy to her own devices and surprisingly led her to grow up a genuinely good person despite some lack of direction. Harpy didnât always know she had magick, though she always had an interest in it. In fact, Harpy was a late bloomer compared to a lot of the other students at H.A.G.S. which is why sheâs seventeen going into her first year there. It seemed the school administration just came swooping in to whisk her away into a whirlwind of things she hadnât realized were possible for her. Her long years mostly alone has left Harpy a cynical, sarcastic person who seems pretty antisocial on the outside due to the fact she simply no longer minds being alone.
Harpy has no siblings, and doesnât even know her father. Her world revolved around her mother for years, taking on the responsibility of making sure her mother was taken care of while she believed she was doing the same for Harpy. Growing up, Harpy went to average public schools, had average friends, and led a fairly average life, even if her life was a bit rougher around the edges than some. Straddling the line between being a loner, and being sociable, it is way more attention than she was used to coming to Hecate, but she strives to keep up a steady, understated thriving at life and plans to do so at the school. Harpy was neither surprised nor disappointed to be placed in Lavaeu, she just simply was content to belong somewhere as fantastic as Hecate and sees it as an opportunity to accomplish something big in her life.
Other: none.
