In a world where humans and supers live side by side, Drs. Karl and Cynthia Hadden are two of the most brilliant minds in the science of supers ― beings who show exceptional abilities and intelligence far beyond that of the common man. The two doctors met whilst completing their PhD programs; Karl was studying biochemistry while Cynthia was focusing on physics, and immediately clicked. They grew up always feeling outcasted by their families and classmates alike due to their their own super abilities however they found companionship, love and understanding within one another. The more they learned about the science behind themselves and the beings they coined “supers,” the more they felt they had to share with the younger generation. They had knowledge that no one else seemed to want to share and they wanted to make it known to everybody who felt just like they did, like outsiders. When the two graduated with their degrees, they got married and together they founded The Hadden Training Academy.

Soon after founding the academy, the two doctors began recruiting young supers that they could train and teach the arts of being different and powerful. The admission process for the academy is very selective and only the most gifted individuals are given the chance to attend. Often the students being the prodigies of some of the most notorious heroes. On their eighteenth birthday, young supers who present promising abilities receive an invitation to attend The Hadden Training Academy instead of a regular university. These individuals are observed by the doctors themselves throughout their life and the untapped potential for greatness they hold shines through once they accept themselves for being who they truly are, supers. They are brought in, assigned aliases and given a wide-range of training from hand-to-hand combat to military strategy, as well as eye-opening knowledge about their species. Karl and Cynthia teach many of the courses, as they like to keep a close eye on the students, and they administer weekly examinations on the young supers to assess how their abilities are growing, as well as monitor their overall health.

Recently, Karl felt that there was a certain exclusivity to the Academy that went against the sole purpose of their academy. Often the descendants of "villains" or anyone that had a previous history of violence and crime were essentially blacklisted from the Academy. Most not even getting a chance. So in an effort to help promote the core values of being a 'hero' in those who needed it most he began an effort to enlist the unlikeliest sort of students into the Academy. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out as well as he thought it would. The students were beginning to divide and The Hadden's could not agree on how to address the situation. There has been a strong effort recently at the Academy in to bring them together, as unbeknownst to them the tensions in the city around them begin to escalate.

MAY PARKERXXOUTFITXXTHE ACADEMYXX#CD4A4A

May had always been something of an early riser during the week. (Well except weekends, those were designated sleep-in days). She enjoyed getting up when it was still quiet, and the only sound that could be heard was the echo of her steps in the hallway. For some reason however, she detested Monday mornings. There was something about the start of a Monday that felt more tiring than the rest. Not to mention her mother always called her rather early on Mondays to check in. Her father was almost always asleep and just mumbled a quick 'gmornin' but it was enough to make her smile.

This morning, she was up early as usual, and made her way to the kitchen. The academy had installed a large dining room, complete with a fully functioning kitchen for the students. It felt more like a home than a school, and May appreciated it. She quickly started a pot of dark roast and grabbed a bowl from one of the cabinets. With a flick of her hand a web shot out and flicked a cabinet open across the kitchen, and another web shot out grabbing the box a Cheerios and delivered it safely to her hand. She smiled as she poured some cereal into the bowl, what was the point of powers if you couldn't use them conventionally?

By the time she had grabbed and poured some milk into the bowl the coffee was ready and she poured herself a small mug. With her breakfast in hand she made her way over to the large dining room table and set Indian-style in the seat before chowing down on her cereal. This week will be good. She repeated inside her head to boost her morale. With the start of September it meant the start of more training, and while she loved it there were sometimes where she just grew tired of all the fighting. It was times like those when she would confide in her father, he always knew what to say.

"Would May Parker, Jack Greene, Adrian Reyes, and Hayley Masters please report to Training Center A in approximately 15 minutes. Thank you" Dr. Karl's voice rang over the loud speakers. Just enough time to finish the Cheerios, she thought taking a few more bites, a nervous excitement bubbling in her. She was glad she was placed in her first training session of the week with two of her closest friends - Jack, especially. He always knew how to make her smile. Still, she didn't recognize the last name called at all and it struck her slightly as odd. Masters? She shrugged, must've been someone new. Still, she would welcome them with open arms, of course if they were willing.

ADRIAN REYESXXOUTFITXXTHE ACADEMYXX#29358E

Adrian had not had the best night of sleep. He has a knack for moving his entire body around while he sleeps. So when the loud speaker woke him up with an announcement, in his grogginess only managed to hear that he was needed for training, he found himself in a complete 180. His head was near the foot of the bed while his feet were pressed up against the headboard. As for the covers and pillows, they were scattered everywhere around his room. Adrian groaned slightly, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. It was too damn early for this kind of thing. "Just fifteen more minutes", he mumbled out loud before burying his face back into the sheets.

Not a moment later a sharp shock ran down his spine and he jolted out of bed with a yelp. "What the - Scarab? Was that really necessary?!" - 'Sorry, Master Reyes. I thought you needed a little bit of help to awake' The voice rang back in his mind. "That's a little more help than I needed - but thanks. Also I've already told you, it's Adrian." He rolled his eyes as he stumbled tiredly to his closet, trying to stretch as much as he could. Of course we have no time to warm up... or even wake up.

The contents of his closet were pretty sparse, a couple of normal outfits and some training gear. He had no need for a suit like the others considering his suit was fused into his spine. Adrian skimmed his fingers over the outfits before picking a simple shirt and shorts, not like he was going to need them anyway.

The hallways were particularly quiet as Adrian made his way to the elevator his footsteps echoing down the corridor. The elevator was surprisingly empty as he made his way down to the ground floor where the training centers were. There were sometimes when he was practically in awe of the facility, the Haddens were definitely loaded that's for sure. He decided he had enough time for at least a banana, and shuffled into the kitchen nodding his head at May, the only other one in there, in what he thought was some sort of a good morning greeting. Thankfully, the bananas were perfectly ripe and he snatched one and began eating it leaned up against the counter.

Jack was ever a morning riser. It was somthing about himself that meant he was up at the crack of dawn. He supposed he just liked to quiet. With the rest of the others in dream land he had some peace and quiet to take his morning run. A few laps around the campus was enough for him wake up.

It was just as he was finishing when her heard her thoughts. This week will be good. He always wondered why he heard her thoughts so well. His mind keying into her wavelength better than the rest. It's not that he meant to intrude it was just that she was so easy to connect too. He couldn't help but give a reply, whilst his physical body was flying up to his open window he sent her a mental message This week will be a shit show. Empath guaranteed.

A quick shower later he stepped out of his room in time to see Adrian roll out of his room a quick wink and a flirtatious smile later. "Hey, handsome? Late riser as usual." He couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he headed down towards the class. It was as he walked that he remembered breakfast. So as Adrian entered the room a small cereal bar made its way out of a cupboard and out the door. Heading to Jack's hand. I'm hungry what am I going to do not use my powers?

They were late. Lateness was unacceptable. It was beside the point that they had been given 15 minutes. She was here where were the others? Hayley took a small and deep breath to calm her nerves. It was fine. She'd do fine. It was then a boy entered not seeming to notice her. Jack Greene she assumed. He was too hillbilly for her tastes but she supposed he would do for an ally. "Hi! You must be Jack." She attempted to speak in her most upbeat tone.

The boy almost jumped in fright when she spoke and he turned to face her eyes wide and confused. "Who..." She was confused at his appeared panic of not noticing her not that she cared. "I'm Hayley, I'm new obviously." She paused as if waiting for a reply but he just stared at her, almost like he was surprised he hadn't noticed her. It wasn't like she was hiding, what a rude guy. She kept her smile on her face looking at the time. He was standing in the doorway blocking the entrance as the 15 minutes were up. Good time to meet the others.

MAY PARKERXXOUTFITXXTHE ACADEMYXX#CD4A4A

As May raised the spoon to her lips about to take her last bite, which consisted of one lonely cheerio that had escaped her grasp, a thought appeared in her head. She supposed it was a bit strange to say the least, but by now she had gotten entirely used to "Jack's Mental Text Messages". This week will be a shit show. Empath guaranteed. She rolled her eyes, but a small smile appeared on her lips, looking like a giddy schoolgirl with a secret crush. And wished, like she always did, that she could send a direct message back. But as she wasn't gifted with 'telepathic' abilities she simply thought her reply hoping that he somehow got it. The glass is half full Jack, don't forget.

"Morning Adrian" She could tell the boy had just rolled out of bed as his dark hair stuck up in about six different places. The sight almost made her giggle. May grabbed her empty bowl and walked past Adrian sleepily eating his banana to placing her dish in the washer. As soon as she closed the washer, the hair stood up on the back of her neck and she ducked, just as an unsuspecting cereal bar flew out of the cabinet whizzing past her head. "Damnit Jack" She mumbled under her breath, cereal bars were not meant to fly.

"Come on, we're already late" May said with a slight shrug to Adrian as she walked out of the kitchen and to the training room. Edith wouldn't mind, their trainer was strict but she always had a soft spot for the kids. As she walked into the training room her face lit up happily as her eyes landed on Jack. She approached him first, not even noticing his worried expression, a mischievous smile on her lips. "Hey, no more flying breakfast bars alright? I'd like to keep my head, thank you very much".

May then turned to the girl, definitely new, she reiterated taking in her light blonde hair and blue eyes. She put on a winner smile, sticking her hand out in front of her for a friendly shake. "You must be Hayley, I'm May. May Parker. Spidergirl. You can call me whatever you'd like" She added with a small giggle.

"Hey, handsome? Late riser as usual." Adrian's cheeks blushed a bright red as he looked up to see Jack walking out into the hallway. He shook his head slightly, the boy was relentless with his flirting. Still there was no denying that the two sort of had a bromance going on.

In the kitchen May returned his greeting after finishing her cereal, "Morning Adrian." He had always enjoyed her company, as he coined earlier in the year, 'you can count on May on a rainy day'. "Morning Spider." He said nonchalantly as he watched the cereal bar fly past his face with a chuckle. "I'm seriously never going to get used to that."

"Come on, we're already late" May spoke tapping him on the shoulder and he obediently followed her down the hallway and into the training room. While May - unsurprisingly - went up to Jack, Adrian couldn't help but notice the new girl amongst them. She seemed a tad uncomfortable under her bright smile but Adrian just assumed it was first day jitters. Before he could introduce himself, however, May interjected beating him to it. He waited patiently behind the redhead and spoke his two cents before anyone else could intervene. "Adrian Reyes at your service, but most call me Blue" He gave her what he hoped appeared to be a warm smile.

Hayley was a eager beam of smiles towards the new two. They seemed far more welcoming then staring McGee over there. She took May's hand in a gentle handshake a genuine looking smile that seemed to scream I want to be best friends as introductions were made. "....I'm May. May Parker...." "...Adrian Reyes at your service.... blue".

Her eyes seemed to hyper-focus on May for more than was comfortable as she seemed to take in everything she needed to know about her. "Why oh my days are you really?!" Her excitement was almost like a child, having found the best price in the world. "My father told me so many stories about spiderman growing up. He's a very interesting story. But still, we can't be known for what our parents did, can we?" A small smile formed on her face as she turned to Adrian. "And you! It's so nice to meet you. I was beginning to think all guys here were rude. Almost walking into me as he did." She winked at Adrian in a flirting way before eyes flicking back to Jack again, completely ignoring Jack like he was the plague and giving him a dirty look.

Jack was relived when May and Adrian followed him into the training room. Hoping they'd join him in his discomfort of the new girl. Something about her, something didn't feel right. He'd never met anyone before that he couldn't read the mind of and not only could he not read this girls mind. Something about her told him he couldn't do anything. "Hey, no more flying breakfast bars alright?" His eyes fell on May in a way he'd never had before. All pretence of joking and pretending over as he looked at her like a deer in headlights.

He couldn't say anything as Hayley introduced herself and was left just standing there not even arguing when she gave him a nasty look. Jack never bumped into people. Not only did he avoid all physical touch like it would kill him he usually never touched someone by accident either. He knew where people were at all times if they'd fall before they did. He'd been seen many a time stepping to the left randomly as someone ran past where he used to stand without batting an eye. His powers literally meant he could never, not notice someone. His fists gripped tightly at his sides as if he was going to punch something before forcibly releasing. He put on his best 'I don't care about you grin' to hide his panic before launching himself into the air and over the others with a clear 3 ft gap. "Don't flatter yourself sweetheart. You're not that important."

May noticed Hayley's eyes widen at the mention of her last name. It was an uncommon thing to her, being the daughter of quite the famous hero got her quite a bit of attention. However, for some reason Hayley's interested seemed almost strange. "Why oh my days are you really?!" May tucked a fiery strand of hair behind her ear as she blushed slightly. "The one and only" She said quietly, bouncing on her heels. "My father told me so many stories about Spiderman growing up. He's a very interesting story. But still, we can't be known for what our parents did, can we?" That last bit took May aback slightly, as while the statement was true there was definitely something underlying to it. May was a bit perplexed by the girl, as she couldn't quite figure her out. Before she had the chance to ask about her parents however, she turned to Adrian.

May took the moment out of the spotlight to turn back to Jack who looked- something was definitely wrong. She had never seen him look so on edge in her life, and she instantly began to worry. "Jack... is everything alright?" May wanted to reach out a comforting hand, just to brush his shoulder and maybe bring him out of this 'spell' but she didn't. She knew how Jack felt about physical contact and since their little 'incident' tried as best she could to avoid touching him. It made things difficult sometimes, but she respected her friend's wishes and that was that.

Before he even had the chance to answer, May overheard Hayley's passive aggressive comment to Adrian and had to bite her lip not to respond. Maybe she had underestimated this girl, as she definitely had some kick. She turned back to Jack and noticed a sudden wave of anger wash over him as he suddenly launched into the air, May's red curls floating for a brief moment before resting back on her shoulders. "Don't flatter yourself sweetheart. You're not that important." She couldn't help as her jaw opened in 'awe'. Jack was never cold like that.

What in the hell is going on here?

"And you! It's so nice to meet you. I was beginning to think all guys here were rude. Almost walking into me as he did." Adrian stood frozen, a sort of half-smile stuck on his face as the tension in the room skyrocketed. He let out an uncomfortable and rather forced chuckle at her statement trying to take the anger out of the air. It seemed it was a little to late for that however as Jack shot up, clearly pissed. He looked to May for a brief moment, but she seemed just as lost as he did. Thankfully, Edith interjected before anything could progress.

"Nice to see you've all arrived" She spoke, coming from a door near the back. The woman's jet black hair was pulled back into a bun but a few, gray wisps had escaped to frame her face. Edith had been head trainer at the Academy since it began, an old friend of the Hadden's. She was an Ex Shield Agent, who gladly volunteered to help train the youngsters. She was clearly older, mid-fifties, but Adrian had been there long enough to know she could kick his ass. "I hope you all enjoyed your night's rest, some of you obviously more than others" Her gaze turned to Adrian and he felt his cheeks flush. "Parker, Greene, Reyes. I can see you have all meet Ms. Masters. I hope you can make her feel welcome here at the Academy" Her eyes lingered on Jack then went back to Hayley. "Today's exercise is not for the faint of heart, so I hope you all brought your A-Game. You four will be infiltrating a Max Security Compound, filled with armed guards ready to strike you down. Your goal? To rescue the hostages, located somewhere inside. While the simulation may not be entirely real, I assure you it will feel entirely real. If you get hit too many times you will be removed from the simulation. If a hostage dies, game over. If you all die, game over. Any questions?"

Hayley smiled into the room like she had no idea of the tension she had caused. She seemed almost happy to cause the anger in Jack's eyes and didn't even bat an eyelid at the cold reply. In almost stark contrast she stepped closer to Adrian her hands gripping onto her jacket sleeves nervously. She whispered timidly as the instructor spoke like she was afraid of the answer. "I didn't offend anyone did I?" She frowned glancing at the floor before smiling and pushing the apparent upset away in favour of listening. "Any questions?" She raised her hands timidly her voice quiet as she spoke. "Oh, I know these guys are an exsiting team. As I'm new shouldn't introductions be in order power-wise to avoid any mid-battle complications? She pushed her hair out of her face and looked down slightly. "I mean. I don't want to step on any toes. Like, are there signals? Or?

Jack wasn't sure what he had wanted. Standing in front of that girl had put him on edge but just knowing May was there made him feel at least slightly better. He could almost feel her concern for him which was adding to the problem. It was ever since he'd touched her that he felt in tune with her emotionally. Just knowing that she had an urge to touch him put him on edge and he was glad to escape. "I'm fine May stop worrying so much or someone would think you liked me or something spider princess He stayed hovering off to the side legs crossed in an attempt to figure things out.

Just watching Hayley made his skin crawl. Every action made his stomach turn, every word set his head reeling with an unshakable bad feeling. His closed his eyes tightly and moved his hand up to his face to try and clear his mind. Something was wrong with him that was for sure and blaming a girl for his own problems wouldn't get him anywhere. He'd never met anyone like her before, but he knew that some people could block his ability. He needed to suck it up, focus on the mission. 'Just be civil'

"I mean. I don't want to step on any toes. Like, are there signals? Or?
He glanced off to the side as she asked that and tried to think of a response. Usually, he'd mentally connect everyone so they didn't need to talk. But how would that work? Could he do that with her? His usual confidence in his abilities was lost as he for once didn't talk. The girl had a point asking that question and if it would have been any other day he would have given them all a confident smile and declared himself 'the best mental delivery system this side of the pond!' but it had all gone. Leaving the self-conscious boy he had all but sworn he'd long left behind.

"I'm fine May stop worrying so much or someone would think you liked me or something spider princess". May's cheeks turned red and she whipped around away from Jack so he wouldn't see her blush. Fine, if he was going to be distant today - so be it."Great inquiry Ms. Masters, I'm sure the three of them would love to spare you the knowledge" Edith turned her head towards May first. She was still a little off her norm from the way Jack was acting but at the end of the day she was still May Parker and she had to put on her best. "Uh yeah, of course! Well... I'm sure you know my father - as you expressed - and I'm essentially his mini to put it nicely" She said with a slight giggle, the change of topic making her more comfortable. "These two goons" she nodded her heard towards "put me on reconnaissance". May smiled proudly, she was truly like a spider on the wall, the girl was straight stealth which made her perfect for scouting. "But - I can still kick some ass if needed" She added with a slight wink. "In fact, my Dad made this handy contraption for me a couple weeks ago" May brandished the small watch on her wrist proudly before twisting the face of it sideways. With a satisfying click, her suit slid out of the watch and covered her and with a small hiss sunk into place. She took a deep sigh, she always felt more at ease behind the mask. "Tada!" May spoke proudly now fully clothed in her spider suit.

Adrian felt Hayley take a step closer to him and he glanced at her, his eyes softening when he saw her face riddled with worry. He was being ridiculous, it was just a new girl not a life or death situation. Adrian was clueless as to why he felt so jittery. "No, of course not. Don't pay attention to him, mujercita, his head is always in the clouds" He whispered back a warm smile on his face. As soon as the look of worry passed over her face it was gone in an instant a bright smile replacing it. Man, this girl was confusing. His friends weren't kidding when they said understanding women was like reading the Bible in Klingon.

Thankfully, 'introductions' changed the subject. After May giddily showcased her talents - it was Adrian's turn. 'I'm assuming it's our time to shine now Master - Adrian' The beetle speaking up in his mind for the first time since this morning. "You would be correct Beetle" He spoke quietly, still a little insecure about the alien in his head. "Well - I'm not uh, as naturally talented as the others. I guess an easy way to put it is... I have an Alien attached to me that - well let me just show you" With that he unfolded his hands out, taking a deep breath and spoke the words, Khaji Da in his mind. His face grimaced slightly, the transformation was always a little painful, and he felt a deep vibration between his shoulder blades. Like molten gold poured on a surface, blue metal coated his skin until he was fully engulfed forming into his suit. Translucent wings sprouted from his back and he pushed off the ground flying up the same level as Jack. "I just kick some bad guys around here and there, clear a path" He said a chuckle emanating from him. The boy was definitely the brawn of the group.

Jack kept his arms crossed and eyes narrowed as he listened to the others and this ridiculous question. Who would just answer that obvious trap question?! His eyes fell on May as she explained her abilities and reeled slightly. She was just going to tell the little freak?! He turned to Adrian in hope he wouldn't, but then he remembered what the guy had said before. "Don't pay attention to him, mujercita, his head is always in the clouds" Clouds?! He wasn't in the clouds.

When the blue bettle came out he couldn't help but put his face in his palm. It was clear she was to join them but to let her know all the details. Was he the only one who had sense. It was then that all eyes fell on him and he narrowed his eyes at the rest. "No." But one look at May made him pause. She'd put herself on the line. Revealed herself in full and something didn't stick right. He didn't like the way Hayley looked at her. Like she was a prize.

May. Please don't judge me for this. He spoke into her mind before frowning. Everything he was. For May he'd offer himself up. His hand went up through his hair and he hung it back in defeat. He took a deep breath saying the next sentence as quickly as possible in a monotone voice like he was used to explaining. "I'm telepathic, telekinetic, empathetic, and all the other stick's you can think of. I'm the teams invisible walking walkie talkie, transport and shapeshifter swiss army knife in one amazing British package. He crossed his arms like that was final and narrowed his eyes before glancing at May before sighing. "Oh an I'm from Mars. Or half of me is."

To proove his point he closed his eyes and consentrated. Slowly he shapeshifted into May. Infront of the very girl was her down to the small details, his clothes had changed with him to her own favoured outfit. The face was a solom look that she'd properly never seen on her face before. "Down to the DNA. I can replicate anyone's natural abilities everything they can do I can. Just not yours Adrian. Though I can hear your scarab.

May was thankful the mask hid her emotions from the rest. When they all turned to Jack, she was shocked at the look on his face and the firm, "No." Why was he being like this? It was Hadden, their home. And he acted as if they had been thrown out on the streets proclaiming their identities to the world. If May couldn't trust the students and staff of Hadden, then who could she really trust?

She ripped off her mask, her hair falling in messy curls around her face. The fiery red locks matching her emotions, as she opened her mouth to reprimand Jack for being such an ass this morning he spoke to her. May. Please don't judge me for this. Then it seemed like the best friend she thought she knew so much became a complete stranger in a matter of seconds. "Oh and I'm from Mars. Or half of me is." Mars? Jack was - well half - Alien. Unfortunately he didn't even give May time to process as before her eyes his form melted into that of her own as if she was staring in a mirror.

Shame. Her face turned red with shame, red with anger, and most of all embarrassment. How could she be so blind when everything was sitting right there in front of her. But deep down it hurt, because even though she knew the truth it didn't matter. He didn't trust her. He never trusted her. Did he really think for a second that anything he just said would affect how she felt about him? Did he really think she was that shallow? That close-minded? May told him everything, without even a second thought. They had - or so she thought something genuine. What was the truth? Had everything he told her been a lie? Did he even actually want to be her friend? To be - No. She refused to let herself be made a fool.

With all her might she threw up walls in her mind, in all honesty she had no idea what she was doing but it wasn't fair. Wasn't fair that he got to know what she thought, felt. He didn't deserve to know. Her mother was right, she trusted too easily, just like her father. May's bottom lip quivered but she threw on a smile as best she could. "Hayley, it was wonderful to meet you. I really hope you get to call Hadden home" then she turned her gaze quickly to Edith, "I'm terribly sorry but you'll have to excuse me. I think I'm feeling a little under the weather". She didn't even wait for Edith to tell her it was alright before bursting out the door and into the hallway.

May ran to the only place she ever found quiet in the Academy. It was a small little broom closet on the fourth floor, hidden behind a stairwell. She had discovered it her first year, and since decorated it with pillows, blankets, pictures of her family, and small keepsakes. As soon as the door clicked shut she sunk to the floor clutching a pillow to her chest and closed her eyes, slowing her breathing. Just like her dad taught her.

As Jack unveiled his abilities, and lineage, and just about 15 seconds Adrian sunk to the floor, landing on his feet. His wings slowly folded back into his chest and a portion of his suit opened allowing his face to be shown. Jack was part Alien? This - this was a lot to take in and Adrian really was also trying to factor in the fact that all aliens weren't symbiotic beetles attaching to peoples back. Or were they? He said he could change forms right? Then what did he actually look like.

As the thoughts were going through his mind, he was brought back when May excused herself hurriedly and left. His gaze flicked briefly to Hayley. What a first day it had been for her. He hoped she wasn't getting the wrong idea about Hadden. God, even Edith looked a bit uncomfortable with May's exit. The silence was unbearably awkward so he finally broke it. "Dude, I think this honestly makes us like actual brothers. You're half alien, I have one attached to me... Same thing right?" He cracked a rather shit-eating grin hoping to break the tension in the room. "Why didn't you tell us earlier? I mean, you can change into anyone? We could've been pulling the greatest of pranks this ENTIRE time".

Hayley could not believe her luck. She stood there wide and happy eyed as one by one they revealed their powers. As May spoke about herself Hayley just smiled and leant in closer taking a nice long look. Best friends. She was determined to be best friends with this girl. Her eyes showed absolute eagerness as she absorbed all the knowledge about her new classmates. This, this could be useful.

Adrian, well bless he tried. She admitted she wasn't as interested in the boy as much as May but she still gave a good show. Letting out a huge smile for him and a small clap as if what he'd done was the most amazing thing in the world. She'd have him wrapped around her little finger in no time! Now, as for Jack. She was pretty sure the boy would be practically useless. What use was a boy who could fly? She had focused her attention on Adrian like she couldn't care less about Jack, until, Jack spoke.

Eyes wider than she ever thought possible she watched the boy explain his powers then turn into May in a blink of an eye. Ohhh this was good. She could almost imagine the possibilities, what was the could be's with all his abilities. Mind reading, that could cause a problem for her. She needed to remove the boy from the picture and she thought she knew a way how.

Seeing May turn read Hayley had to stop herself from licking her lips in delight. Anger, embarrassment. These were easy emotions to manipulate. She pulled a concerned face looking between everyone as May excused herself. She made sure to give Adrian a Is this usually like this? look before running after spidergirl, hot on her heels. "May! Please don't run!" She stopped at the door of the cupboard and tapped lightly before slowly opening. She stepped inside curling up on a pillow beside the slow breathing girl and pulled out a small handkerchief from her pocket. The handkerchief was pure white with purple embroidered initials in a corner. -TM

"You know my Dad always said crying made people stronger. It helped people to accept that they've been hurt."
She gave May a sad look. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked appearing sincere.

Jack had grown up being the freak. Not that anyone really knew that. He had always known his father had feared him. Not much to hide from a telepath later empath. But he'd thought maybe this time. It could be different. Maybe this time he could have finally been accepted for what he was. It was watching May pull away in disgust that he knew that he had been a foolish, foolish boy. Of course, no one would accept him. He had known that since he was 4! He wasn't sure why it hurt so much when May pushed up her walls. It physically hurt like he'd been hit in the face and he visibly recoiled from the sensation.

His form returned to normal as May stormed away he wasn't sure why he hurt so much. He glanced at Adrian with a blank gaze hearing that he was trying to lighten the mood but his mind not processing it all that well. He felt like he'd just lost a limb. His mind had been so used to her mind that he'd spent the better part of a month always listening to her surface thoughts almost instinctively. "Thanks for the offer Adrian but I think I'll pass on that." He wasn't sure what else to say to that and disappeared into his invisibility heading away towards his room. When he got there he couldn't hold back anymore. He fell to his knees eyes closed tightly as he tried to get control of himself and his emotions. Damned martian emotions! Calm yourself Jack He slammed his fist against the floor the windows of the building all imploding at once. She's just a girl why do you care so much?!

MAY PARKERXXOUTFITXXTHE ACADEMYXX#CD4A4A

May was definitely not expecting to be followed. Especially by Hayley. She barely knew the girl, but she'd come to help - why wouldn't May accept a friend willing to help. She contemplated telling Hayley that she wanted to be alone when she heard a knock at the door, but seeing as the girl didn't give her much choice she accepted her company. What a mess. The daughter of Spider-man acting like a complete child. Still she couldn't help the growing pit of sadness that made her stomach ache. So when Hayley held out the handkerchief she gracious accepted it even though the tears hadn't begun to fall yet.

"You know my Dad always said crying made people stronger. It helped people to accept that they've been hurt." May nodded along with her words, she had been hurt. "Do you want to talk about it?" May finally glanced up at Hayley who had sincerity in her eyes. "I just don't understand why he would lie - I don't understand what expected to gain from keeping it a secret. You know... I could care less about his powers, his DNA, whatever, I just can't believe he didn't trust me. I mean, I told him everything. It's not like I had to tell him anyway, he could just read my mind - that's another thing. It's not fair, t-that he can always know what I'm thinking but I never know what he's thinking" She threw her hands up in frustration. "I just can't believe I was so stupid".

ADRIAN REYESXXOUTFITXXTHE ACADEMYXX#29358E

"Thanks for the offer Adrian but I think I'll pass on that." Adrian didn't get much of a chance to respond as Jack - literally disappeared - right before his eyes. He let out a defeated sigh, running a hand through his hair as even Edith had left the room during the incident. Being along in the room made his sigh echo and bounce off the walls. 'It was a valiant effort Adrian, but maybe next time try a comforting word than crude humor'. Adrian groaned in frustration, "Thanks Beetle, but I don't think anything could've saved that conversation" 'Might I suggest some guitar playing? Or Brooklyn Nine Nine?' "I appreciate it, really Beetle, but I'd rather just have some time alone" 'As you wish'. With that his suit retracted back into his spine, and he clenched his fists tightly through the pain. There was never any getting used to that.

No telling where the others went, and frankly he felt as if he wouldn't be much help anyway. It was times like these Adrian wished he was more rational and less aloof. He made his way into the living room, a large gathering area connected to the kitchen and plopped on the couch grabbing a pillow. Adrian contemplated the idea of watching TV but decided against it and just sat in silence. That was until the windows lining the outside wall - exploded.

He leaped off the couch along with a string of curses and in an instant his suit had reformed both his hands turning into energy cannons which he pointed at the window. Adrian's heart was beating a mile a minute and it took him a solid couple of seconds before he realized what happened. "Ah mi amigo" He spoke quietly under his breath as the wings folded out from his back. Using the newly formed door - thanks Jack - he flew outside hovering near the building with a frown. Jack come on buddy, it isn't worth it. You know it isn't. May will come around, the girl's a marshmallow for heaven's sake. Just come out and talk to me please. He thought concentrating extra carefully to make sure his message went through.

Hayley nodded her head as May spoke a soft comforting hand resting on the girls shoulder. She smiled a soft sad smile as she listening to the spider's complaints. Was this what it took to get the princess to tell her how she felt? She held back a laugh as she let her face fall into quiet concern. It was eaiser than taking candy from a dead baby. "I know how it must feel. You thought he was your friend but you don't really know who he is." She rested her head back against the wall as if lost in thought and hugged her knees to her chest.. "I mean. Martians are like, super sketchy though. My father told me about them as a kid. Has he trusted you enough to show you his true form? I mean he's most likely knows everything about you from reading your mind.

She leant forward like she was trying not to say something important. She opened her mouth to speak then closed it again looking worried. "I ask this because I'm worried. He's not.... fed off you has he? You'd see green and a wave of energy that you can't explain." She shook her head as if clearing the thought from her mind in disbelief. "Why am I asking that of course, he hasn't."

Jack wasn't sure what to do now. Kneeling down in self-pity he almost didn't realise Adrian was outside before he heard the guys thoughts. He glanced up watching the blue beetle before slowly forming a small smile. Adrian was a good guy, and he was right. He was over reacting. May wasn't the type to be afraid of him. Angry at him for sure and he was certain that when the fiery redhead had calmed down enough his ass was going to get kicked so badly. For now, that was nothing to worry about and looking at Adrian it was clear that he did have a friend. "Thanks Adrian. I appreciate it. Alien bro's got to keep together eh handsome? He stood up and went to his window examining the broken glass and looking up and grinning at the Spanish imp. "How much trouble do you think I'm in for this mess?"
