In Feudal Japan, where clans and tribes rein over their land, there exists a prophecy that has long been dismissed as obsolete by its people. The prophecy, as remembered by some of those who still believe in it, tells of two katanas; one black, the other white. It tells of the murder of a mother, and of the ascension of her son to power. But the definition of 'power' in the time that the prophecy was made has since changed, and Haruhito Takada is not recognized as the boy of the prophecy when he acquires a black katana from the bark of an oak tree one night.

Kira Takada, Haruhito's mother, was murdered ten years previously, by a man with a snow white katana whose face Haruhito has never forgotten - nor forgiven. Unbeknownst to him, Kira, his mother, watches over him as a ghost, guiding him along the path which the prophecy has laid out for him.

Haruhito's clan is called the Ki, meaning 'tree'. They worship the forest above everything.

It is up to you now how Haruhito's story will unfold...

Tribes:

Ki: Tribe of the Tree, Haruhito's birth Tribe. They are a peaceful and cheerful people, while at the same time providing some of the strongest and wisest katana warriors of all Tribes.

Ookami: Tribe of the Wolf, a spontaneous, battle-scarred and very intelligent Tribe with a less than peaceful past. They place a lot of importance and emphasis on History during their education. Most of those who believe in the prophecy are part of this tribe.

Kokutan: Tribe of Ebony, a mysterious Tribe who constantly tries to keep out of other Tribes' businesses and keeps to themselves. Contains a lot of Mages and Oracles. Rumoured to be the origin of Haruhito's prophecy.

Inu: Tribe of the Dog, a faithful and brave Tribe of warriors who fight for what they think is just and are very slow to move. Their decision-making system is based on a complex hierarchical and counselling system where everybody has a say in decisions made, not just the higher-ups.

Neko: Tribe of the Cat, a small, peaceful wandering Tribe surviving mostly on farming and trade with other Tribes.

Washi: Tribe of the Eagle, a very critical people who think themselves superior to all other Tribes.

Mujina: Tribe of the Badger, a quiet Tribe who sends merchants to other towns' common markets. Not much is known about them
