Hawthorne Academy

Introduction

Image Image Image
Welcome to Hawthorne Academy, a school and safe house for mythical beings. To the outside world, friends and some family back home, you’re just a regular person attending some old boring school, but in reality (well, your reality) you’re actually learning how to control your powers.

Hawthorne Academy was built in 1918 by a woman named Marget Bishop who was a witch from Estonia, the people of her town found out her secret and her family was burned while she was able to get away. After that tragic event, she made her way to Washington where she started Hawthorne Academy in hopes to keep anyone and everyone different safe. In the beginning years, Margret only intended the school take on witches, but as many other species came to her attention, the school was expanded and many others of all kinds began to attend the school, growing stronger and stronger each and every day. As years passed, the school grew and Margret passed the head mistress role down to her step daughter, Cora DelRossum. The choice couldn’t have been wiser and after Marget passed away, Cora took on the school and even discovered humans that had special gifts. Knowing her step mother would have done the same, she expanded the school even more, taking in human students as well. Cora took care of the school until she developed cancer, then passed the school down to her daughter, Stella DelRossum who is the current head mistress of Hawthorne. Most of the students enjoy her, but others have their doubts, but none of them can deny the fact that she takes care of the school.

Outside school grounds is where the town Selam shows it’s buildings and colors. The humans living there are clueless of the things inside the school. The students try their best to live among the humans in secrecy, in fear of the humans taking harsh actions if they were to find out.

Now you know what you need to,
what happens next is up to you.

  • Marget Bishop | Years Active: 30 (1918 - 1948)
  • Cora DelRossum | Years Active: 45 (1948 - 1993)
  • Stella DelRossum | Years Active: 20 (1993 - Current)
For Starters
This isn’t just your normal everyday school. This is a place for those who are different and those who are already gifted. Hawthorne was made to be a safe house for them, a place where they could hide from humans but not from themselves.
Mystical Beings & Gifted Humans
The students of Hawthorne are not like any other students at all the other boring schools in Washington, the students here are special, and day by day they grow more powerful. There are many species behind these doors, then there are humans. These humans are not like the others, they were born gifted and most come to the academy to learn how to control their gifts.
Humans
Humans are normal, no gifts, not from a mystic bloodline, not from a half blood line, just normal humans. They live in the houses around the school and attend Belle Grove High School.
Gifts
Some of the students at Hawthorne are human, but have been born with unexplainable gifts. The ones who where born with gifts learn how to control them, feed them, and hide them.
Families
Most of the families of the students such as parents and siblings (in some cases aunts, uncles, grandparents, legal guardians) know about the school and the students that go there. But there are some parents that are clueless about everything. If a student is uncomfortable with their parent(s) knowing about them, then the parent(s) can be kept in the dark, or even have the school wiped from their memory.
Area
The school is surrounded by trees, and isn’t very far from town. The town is in walking distance, but most of the students take the school cabs. A few miles behind the school, there are cabins which sit a few feet from the lake; a place where the students go to camp on birthdays or holidays.

John slowly watched the moon from the roof of his dorm building. It wasn't anything too spectacular about it, but it was nice. They would be leaving soon, he just hoped the bureau would listen.

"It's getting late, we should go." He spoke quietly.

"Then let's go." John was beginning to catch onto him.

He quickly made his way down the building, and towards the treeline. He hopped the wall with relative ease, and they made their way into town through the woods. It wasn't that far of a walk, maybe 15-20 minutes. They arrived at dark, and were greeted by a rather large doorman.

"Weapons?" He spoke with no feeling.

"Yes." John's accompaniment spoke with confidence.

"Go upstairs, he's waiting for you." Once again, not a speck of emotion.

They passed a total of 6 more guards on the way up, not counting the two outside the room door. The one on the left opened it for them.

"So, the crusaders have found the great Hawthorne Academy." The man spoke with confidence, and considering his age, he must have had everything needed to back it up. Most assassins don't make it out of their 40's, he was in his late 60's easily.

"Alkir, how many scouts have been in?" He asked the man with John.

"Three, before I arrived there, they were taken care of, but the inhabitants must be aware of the coming war. If they're not, they have a right to know." Alkir spoke with respect, but at the same time, he was making sure his point got across.

"I agree. John, what do you need." He spoke with respect towards John, something that he wasn't expecting from the older generation of assassins.

"Bow, arrows, throwing knives, and a few blades, and a cure." John hoped he'd be able to help.

"Faytac. Genetic." Alkir added on

"Well, it will take me some time to get the ingredients, but I'll do what I can. As for weapons, Howard can take you nextdoor."

John and Alkir walked out, and the left doorman put a hand on each shoulder, and guided them to room 301, and handed them a large duffle bag. "Knock yourselves out."

They had everything. John grabbed two compound bows, 15 throwing knives, three shortblades, two handfuls (approx 30) of broad-tipped arrows, and a few (8) field tips.

"Alkir looked at him, and spoke with a small amount of fear. "I've got to go, meet me back there, something's amiss."

John understood, and quickly made his way downstairs and outside, before sprinting back to the school. He found out why Alkir left halfway there. There was a cleric wandering through the woods. John quickly put an arrow through the side of his head. he say the clerics accomplice not too far away, completely shredded. "Looks like Alkir knows what he's doing."

John looked for more tracks, but there were none. That was it, two more scouts. John retrieved his arrow, and quickly made his way back to the school, after hiding the body.

Alkir handed him a small letter. "This came from one's pocket."

"Scope the front lines, and the surrounding areas, report back, two days, and this school's history."

Two days. Two fucking days. He thought he'd have more time. He needed to find Kyra, and Shrade, and Marcey. They needed to get out, now. He sprinted back as fast as he could back to the school. Ran right into the female dorm, and started banging to Kyra's door like an animal. He was not going to be the reason these people died, no, he couldn't.

Alkir spoke up quickly. "John, it's three in the fucking morning. If that was my room, I would beat your fucking head in, stop being such an irrational fuck. Jesus, they sent me here to fight with you, not babysit." And with that, he was gone.

"Kyra has an admirer, Kyra has an admirer!" Embarrassed, Kyra blushed, recoiling, she stammered, "I-I don't-""You guys would be cute, you know." Kyra's thought flashed to the bottle in her pocket, the one from John, and the way he had daringly asked her why she cared if he died. Irritation, annoyance and surprise flitted across her face.

"So.. I guess seeing Shrade could wait, you up for a run though? Maybe we could head by town and pick you up something cute to impress your man with. I totally ship it." Kyra had enough of this foolishness. She grabbed Marcey's shoulder and held her still, "Stop it!" The words were hardly a shout. "I have no man, and I will not change my appearance just for some human male, either."

Kyra wasn't angry, or disappointed, but more shocked into denial. "I, um... Anyways, John Kenway is human, and I," Her gaze went through Marcey as if she was looking into the distance, "I am only partially human and it would nearly be impossible for me to ever feel Love." Something in those words made Kyra even more still, but after a second, she pulled away. "You know, it's a little late for a run, you wanna go to a party?" The question had been asked lightly but, Kyra sort of felt like doing something reckless and stupid. "I wanna go dancing, and I sort of don't wanna go solo... Come on, Shrade knows the pack members and I swear I won't let you get hurt. Come on, I'll show you where it's at..." Kyra tugged Marcey out of the room and began to lead her like a guide dog...

Minutes later, Kyra and Marcey were standing at the entrance to Wolf's Den. It wasn't much as it was just a stone arch attached to the wall that surrounded the school. "Okay, don't freak out." Kyra tugged Marcey forward through the wall. Her ears popped as she felt herself become more away of her surroundings.

Wolf's Den was amazing. It was dark, filled with warm moving bodies, and loud music that vibrated through a person's core... And Kyra and Marcey were on a cat walk staring down at a mass of moving bodies in the center of the room. Kyra began making her way down to the dance floor. "Okay, don't drink any silver or blue drinks, and don't let anyone bite you. And-"

"Hey-hey! It's Shrade's little sister!" A male werewolf with red hair howled out as he caught sight of Kyra.

"Stripes?!" Two other heads looked her way, one brown and the other silver. "No way!"

All three guys were werewolves, and they also appeared to be triplets or really close friends. Kyra grinned, felt her fangs elongate and glisten, "Alaric! Tatsuma! And... Thane?" She walked forward and was immediately engulfed in a group hug. They quickly dispersed. "Come on! Let's celebrate by drinking and dancing like the old days!" The silver haired one, Thane handed Kyra a cup of glowing blue liquid which she quickly downed. She then, followed them onto the dance floor....

And then...

She wasn't think, but reacting on instincts, indulging herself in the pleasure of being surrounded by shifters, all hard wired with the same predator coding as her. The drink began to take her senses... The air thrumming with the energy of the shift, primal power that made her want to shed her human skin for a coat of silky fur. Yet, she did not shift, but move so she was now dancing with just Thane and not all three wolves. Her skin burned! She felt his hands on her waist, his breath on her neck. She purred, and he growled in response. Others were beginning to howl the wolf's song. She wasn't thinking... There were no thoughts, just the primal energy... acting on pure instinct... And so, when Thane turned her and kissed her... She responded by kissing him back... At the back of her head, there something whispering a name...

***

Shrade was beginning to feel woozy. He staggered forward, "Oh, what the hell..." He pressed a hand to his forehead... A flash of fire burned his mind and... "Oh shit, Kyra... What the hell?!" He snarled at no one in particular. Shrade tried moving forward, to run... to his sister... but the... blue drink... "Can't even," he voice slurred, "get drunk properly..." His skin burned... He tried to maintain control, to not shift... but... Where was Kyra??? Wolf's Den... He tried to move to act, but he found himself writhing on the floor, shifting from form to form non-stop. All through it, his eyes were glowing blue, and he was muttering, "Kyra, Wolf's den, Kyra, Wolf's den..." over and over...

Marcey

"Okay, don't drink any silver or blue drinks, and don't let anyone bite you. And-" Kyra was dragged away, leaving Marcey in the dark room. All she felt was the press of bodies against her, the heat of the room escalating with every beat. She held her breath, closing her eyes, trying to focus on something elsewhere. She could hear them growling in her ear, pulling her which way and that. Please make it stop please just make it stop. Someone grabbed her quickly, and Marcey turned around sharply, feeling a claw glide through the skin of her stomach. Marcey screamed out and bit her lip, trying to keep them from noticing her pain.

"Kyra!" She was practically crying out. She took two steps and turned around a girl who she thought to be Kyra. The girl growled and threw her drink on Marcey, the silver liquid seeping through her shirt and into her cut. Marcey winced with the sudden burning. "Kyra!" Guys were dancing on Marcey with every step she took, pushing her back against others and their bodies. Flash backs of her uncle rummaged through her mind, destroying any patience she had with this situation. She felt helpless, and terrified "Kyra, please I want to leave please! She stepped between a guy and Kyra, feeling him angrily push her away. She kicked him in the groin and grabbed kyra by the hand, running with her toward wherever she thought the door would be. I just kicked a wolf, he is gonna eat me, oh god I am dead! I literally am dead. The room started to spin. She stumbled over to the wall where she had previously came in from, falling to the ground. She could feel the anger of the room, the noise starting to make her mind throb. "Stop, please just don't-" Her sentence silenced, as she fell asleep on the ground. The music and light, all turning to darkness.

Something's not right...... I need to find Shrade. John thought to himself.

He made his way into the male dorm, and found him lying on the floor, his eyes glazed blue. "Kyra, Wolf's Den" He was muttering, barely intelligible.

"ALKIR, NOW" John spoke angrily.

"I know where it is, lets go. Fair warning, this isn't going to go well." He spoke very seriously. John grabbed both of his shortblades.

"I know, have any pals you could call on?" John asked.

"Maybe a few." With that, he dissipated.

About five minutes later, he showed back up, with a few others, none of them assassins. Alkir could see the surprise in his eyes.
"I was a demon before I was an assassin, and these guys don't exactly enjoy werewolves."

They all looked human, but with pure red eyes. They gathered around John, and began a small chant, and with that, they were in a back alleyway.

Two men stood outside the door, a small sigh laid on top which read "Wolf's Den"

John approached with the posse, but the man cut them off. "Place is closed. Fuckoff Human, you're not wanted here." With that, John ended the man, put his wristblade through his throat. The second went to swing at him, John ducked, and caught him on an upstroke, putting his blade through the roof of his mouth. He dragged the bodies into the dumpster. Two of the demons looked at Alkir. "We like him."

He then kicked in the door. "Where are the women." He was getting a lot of strange looks, must've been about 25 of them in here. "You fucking heard me." He said loudly as he popped both blades out, Alkir doing the same.

"Nice friends you've got, you're lucky." One stood up to him, despite warnings from his friends.

"Don't make me put you down, boy." John tilted his head somewhat as he spoke. One of his friends took him into a back room "There in here, just get them and go". Marcey was lying on the floor, eyes glazed blue. Kyra was still up, thank god. He picked Marcey up, handed her to one of the demons, and told him to take her back to her room. One wolf stepped up to John. "What do you think you're doing." He was upset. that seemed to be the general consensus within the room. This was going to get violent. Four demons and a human, on 15 of what John assumed to be werewolves.

John responded with an overhand right. He decided not to kill them, out of pure respect for mystics.

With that, it started. With each blow he took, he delivered five. one got him pretty bad after he shifted, leaving a few fairly deep gashes down his face. John managed to dispach him with an uppercut and a left hook. Within minutes, it was over. John was bleeding from almost every part of his body, Alkir was the same, two of his friends were floored, and the third wasn't doing so well himself. "Thanks, I would've been dead" John spoke the truth, he knew it as well as anyone did. They would've shredded him.

He looked at Kyra, and motioned her to follow. He didn't expect her to, but he had to try. Clerics were coming tomorrow, and he wanted to make sure she stayed away. The rest of them in the main bar just stared as John and the demons walked out, bleeding over most of the floor and some of the furniture. This was definetely going to change his life, if he made it out of the week. He hoped Shrade and Marcey would be alright, the blue eyes thing was scaring him a little.

Kyra was in the middle of everything, when she felt it all get ripped away. She felt herself get dragged away from everything. It hurt. She yanked her arm back from Marcey to grab onto the railing of the cat-walk as a spasm of pain racked her body. She moaned stumbling over to a body in the middle of the catwalk. It was Marcey. Everything spun, all tinged with the blue.

Change. Kyra yelped, suddenly trying hard to stay in her human skin. Change this burning skin. There had been a reason not shift into her others forms, she just couldn't remember...

Noises, crashing. A new thing to focus on. She attempted to move toward the noises, to see what's going on, but instead, it came to her. John. A feeling of intense... something made her growl. A crackle of blue flame moved along the tip of her fingers. He looked at Kyra, and motioned her to follow. Kyra growled again, but she followed, albeit very cautiously.

As soon as they walked out of Wolf's Den, the sensation of abandonment made her slightly afraid and pissed off. She moaned, "Maybe downing Devil Craft wasn't such a good idea." She could hear every minor sound, feel the life in her surroundings thrumming with energy if it was silent.

***

Shrade writhed, trying to gain control of his transformations. Slowly, finally, the drink was beginning to fade from his systems even if he himself didn't drink it. He was able to sit up and close his eyes, "Kyra, I am gonna kill you when you get back." He got response in his head although it may have sounded like she was sitting right beside him talking. "Sorry..."

John and the rest of the crew made their way to the school. It wasn't too far into the walk that he noticed a fairly deep cut on Marcey's stomach. Yarrow would be the best temporary fix, until they got back.He turned to Alkir, as he was empty handed, and asked him if he could grab some yarrow, and water.

"I hope you know what you're doing." He said as he dissipated. He appeared moments later with yarrow leaves and a waterbottle.

"Lay her down." Alkir's friend complied.

He poured a small amount of water on, and then laid a leaf across her cut, first vertically, and then two laterally.

"Keep pressure on it until it stops bleeding" He spoke clearly, to make sure he was understood.

They arrived not too long after, and went to the female dorms first. Alkir looked as his friend carrying Marcey.

"Take her to her room, and be sure to make it so that she can't open the door."

Alkir looked at the other two, and then looked at Kyra.

"Same with her. Clerics will be here in a few hours, we don't want any unnecessary casualties." Alkir took charge.

"John, this isn't my first run-in whith there men, listen to me and we'll all be fine. Hopefully."

John nodded, as much as he didn't want to.

Kyra was fuming. She didn't know why, but she was suddenly angry at John and the Demons. "Take her to her room, and be sure to make it so that she can't open the door." Kyra bit her tongue, trying to ignore the insult, and yes, that was an insult to her. Like I'd use the door...

The blue in her eyes was nearly gone, although the blue flame at the corner of her eyes was... distracting. Was she crazy? Was there really a blue fire- She yelped as the ground shook and sparks of different colors flickered above them. She looked up to see an (almost) electric sheet of something brighten and fade, almost like an invisible blanket covering the school. "The wards are down!" And with that, Kyra shifted into her dog form and bolted away to look for her brother.

{{{OOC: so sorry guys i broke my hand}}}

Marcey--

Marcey woke up in her dorm. The light floated gently in through the window, scattering along dust particles floating in the sky. It took a moment for her surroundings to click in her mind. All she could remember was the searing pain in her stomach, and passing out. She remembered the loud noises and screaming, hearts pounding, voices raising, rooms spinning- the memory of it started to make her sick. She tried to sit up, but the pain rippled through her. Just kill me already She silently cried as she closed her eye, tears swelling to fill the cracks.

"Thats what I was thinking" Declan's voice broke the silence. Was she hallucinating? She opened her eyes and he was there. Sitting on her roommates bed, staring at her as she lay helplessly.

"You aren't real" Marcey tried to convince herself, the thought of him was too much to comprehend.

"You need me to be real, Marcey. You need me to be alive. To be fine. But I'm NOT" It sounded as if he was screaming in her face, she felt the taste of his anger radiating directly above her. "And it's all your fault.." His voice faded, and without even opening her eyes, she knew he was gone. Ignoring the pain, Marcey curled over, screaming into her pillow trying to muffle her guilty conscious.

She could feel her temperature rising, her wound opening up as she kicked and cried. "I'M SORRY" She screamed, throwing her hands into the air trying to fend off the guilt that was biting at her. "I'm SORRY" She cried, desperation hung from her words. She wanted someone to hear her, to understand her, but she knew no one ever would. She heard noises in the hall, loud, loud noises echoing, the tension only raising her voice. "DECLAN COME BACK PLEASE I"M SORRY JUST PLEASE!" She couldn't see through her tears, she just needed to be held. "I am so sorry.." The pain became to much, and she passed out again.

Something was happening. Everything was covered in an electric blue light. Something wasn't right.

"Their already here. Everyone else, watch the kids. Me and John are going on a little hunting trip." And with that, they both made their way to the courtyard. Three met them outside the doors of the dorm. John took out two, both wristblades into their foreheads, Alkir ending the third with a swift blow to the throat. John quickly took the bow out. They were everywhere. If they got to the dorms, it would be an absolute slaughter. John began shooting, and took out a small group that emerged from the treeline. Then, he heard a gunshot. "Damn, we better hurry." They began their attack on the masses. There were around 20 of them. John got three more, Alkir got four. They had now run out of arrows, but they had attracted enough attention. John quickly ran for a cleric making his way to a dorm. Two were blocking his way, blades drawn. He slid, cut each of their calves, and shoved both of his blades into the back of their heads. He could hear the third, first running, and then swinging. John ducked, stabbed him in the hand, then in the throat. One was beginning to make his way towards room, by scaling the dorm building. John threw his shorblade, and caught the Cleric his torso, dropping him to the ground. John quickly ran over, and pulled his blade out of the man. Alkir had brought hellfire upon a small group of Clerics, ending each of them. Then, their capitan made an appearance. Alkir charged him, but the man simply shot him, with a seemingly ancient Colt.

He continued walking towards John, and pulled out a shortblade. It was clear he wanted a duel. "So this is how you want it. Alright, to the death then." John drew his own blade. The capitan swung, and john ducked to the left, letting the back of his blade absorb the blow. John swung with his left hand, the capitan blocking with his freehand. He needed to end this fast, otherwise he would be overpowered. The capitan attempted to stab, John parry'd it with his left wristblade, and poked with his shorblade, just nicking the captans throat. He followed with a kick to the stomach, which was blocked. John threw a right hook, hoping the capitan would bite. He did, and never saw John's knee kick coming. The capitans leg snapped like a twig. He screamed in agony, as John began to cut the mans throat. John shut the capitans eyes, and went back to war on the clerics. They seemed to be fleeing, perhaps retreating to come up with a new gameplan. They had clearly underestimated the forces at this academy, and John doubted they'd make the same mistake twice.

John wanted to follow, but, that was against his better judgement. He needed everyone to regroup. Alkir was laying on the ground, clearly in serious pain. John made his way over.

"Shutup, and listen." Alkir spoke frantically, this must've been important, so John complied.
"We knew this was coming, since the day I signed you up to come to this academy. Fuck what their going to teach you in the mountain, it's all sunshine and fucking rainbows. In reality, we live by three simple rules.
1- An innocents life is worth more than your own, protect them.
2- Never compromise your brothers in arms.
3- Honor the dead, no matter who they were whilst they lived.
Remember, There is no truth, only that which is permitted to appear as truth."
And with that, Alkir took his dying breath. The words stung John deeply. This went against everything he'd ever been taught. God, really wasn't all that. Life had no greater purpose, other than what he, himself, gave it. This was new, it was radical, and it made sense. The rules were simple enough. He decided to follow what Alkir told him, rather than the self-righteous laws of the assassins. A lot of things were going to change. He began looking around for the rest of his new-found friends, to see if they were alright.

Kyra yelped as a spark of magic fell and singed her coat. Oh, great, just fantastic. She leaped over a fence and landed lightly on the other side. She shifted into her tiger form as she suddenly changed direction and jumped right through a window, landing as a human. "You owe me, Shrade." She yelped as she began dusting pieces of bloody glass off her arm. She moved to a slumped over form in the middle of the hallway.

The form groaned and a guttural growl rippled through its chest, "Like hell. First you go off and drink without telling me and... Garrr... You got us both drunk..." The blueness in his eyes flickered as his opened them to glare at his sister. "I should bite your ear off for that stunt."

If Kyra had been afraid, she didn't show it. She leaned down to yank her brother onto his feet which he moaned over. With rapid, yet staggering steps, he moved to throw up in a pot full of flowers.

Kyra groaned at the sight of her vomiting brother. "Ugh, don't. You're gonna make me sick. Er. Sicker." She felt the edges of her mind fraying and tried to get back on track. "Anyways, we're about to be attacked, I can't remember by who and there is someone behind you with a sword."

Shrade lifted his head to see a guy, no, a demon? He couldn't focus, but the instinct to fight rose and he morphed into his tiger form and mauled the guy. Afterwards, Kyra nudged his head with her boot, "I think you killed a priest..." Then, as if finding her situation funny, she began to laugh. Staring at his sister, Shrade rolled his eyes, "You are a very weird person, but then again, you are my sister."

Marcey Parker

When Marcey woke up again, she could sit up. She went to open the door, but realized it was locked. Before thinking twice, she threw the picture of Declan out the window, and used her blankets to scale the wall. Her shirt was covered in dried blood, making it hard to the touch. She quickly tore part of her blanket, took off her shirt, and tied the piece of cloth around her torso. She was angry. She saw a man coming toward her, and she easily grabbed his face and looked him in the eye. His eyes turned a cold blue, as Marcey's did. As quickly as he approached, he walked away. Weapons left on the ground, he just walked off into the woods. It gave Marcey a strange headache, and she held her hand over her temple as she walked up to Kyra and Shrade. "What the hell just happened!" She practically screamed it at Kyra. "One second I am partying with you, then I am bleeding uncontrollably, then I am in some guys arms, then I am LOCKED in my room, I am seeing my dead boyfriend, then some guy tries to attack me and changes his mind and walks away? What the hell!" She was furious, her eyes burning blue. Then she noticed Shrade, standing patiently at her side. Marcey looked at the ground, and apologized under her breath. There is so much wrong with you, Marcey Parker.

"What the hell just happened!" Marcey practically screamed it at Kyra. Startled, and ashamed, Kyra hung her head, avoiding Marcey's gaze the laughter dying in seconds. "I'm sorry. I guess I was a terrible protector and I guess I'm never drinking again." She pressed a hand to her temple as if to further persuade herself to never ever touch another bottle of alcohol or magical power enhancing stuff.

Shrade looked between Kyra and Marcey before shrugging as if not knowing what was going on. "I have no idea what the hell is happening, but I'm assuming you went to the Wolf's Den with Kyra." He looked Marcey over, already smelling the dried blood and the wild smell of werewolves. "So... We know absolutely nothing about what's currently happening, but I'm pretty sure the human - What's his name? - John knows." He groaned before scowling at Kyra, who also flushed as if knowing what he was thinking.

I don't want to know what you think of Marcey, please keep those images to yourself, please. Kyra glared at her brother before looking away from both Shrade and Marcey.

John ran into one last straggler, walking into the woods. His eyes were, neon blue. He didn't even flinch when he saw John. He didn't know what was wrong with him, but he was a cleric. John stabbed him in the heart. "What the fuck was that" he said to himself, genuinely confused.

He then turned, and saw two Senior Clerics coming in. "Fuck." John though to himself. The seniors were the ones who would've planned the attack. Men who have trained their whole lives, known as some of the deadliest men in the world, and they were coming up against an apprentice assassin. Once they were done, that would be it. This would become a known stronghold, one they wouldn't dare approach for a long time. John drew his blade, and began to approach. John nodded towards the one in the center. They might be clerics, but they did the math as well as John did.

The first of the group swung his blade at John, he tuck and rolled, and slashed at his right leg. The man jumped to the left, checking his right leg, making John miss. He stood back up, shooting for a roundhouse kick. The man ducked, but he telegraphed his movement too much. John caught him in the chin with a scissor kick, and went to stab him in the chest. He parry'd Johns attempt, but didn't see John's freehand coming at his temple with a wristblade out. 1 down. John licked the blood off his shortblade, and smiled at the 2nd senior, hoping to enrage him. John went for the first strike, he was parry'd, and caught his opponents sword in the stomach. It was only a slash, but still. The man looked at John, and licked the blood, smiling. John swung again, and was parry'd. He saw the slash coming, this time for his throat. He ducked, and attempted for an upward stab. He was dodged, and recieved a slash to the lower left side of his face, just under his eye. John saw an opportunity, and he took it. He shoved a wristblade straight into his elbow, then his foot, he then elbowed him in the jaw, staggering him. he then leapt at him, and shoved either wristblade through his eyeballs.

He ran towards the dorm, a hand over his stomach, which wasn't cut too badly. His face was far worse. He would need to stitch it as soon as he could.

He ran into everyone just outside the dorms. "Are you guys alright?" He asked, frantically.

He saw Marcey, Kyra, and Shrade outside the dorm building. He ran up to them, excited to see his friends were still alive. Bodies were strewn all around the school grounds. Might be hard to explain to the dean, or anyone of the teachers. "Are you guys alright?"

Marcey Parker

"Are you guys alright?" Are you kidding me? John ran up to them with a huge smile on his face.

"Are we alright? Locking me in my room? How did you think that would work? We are a TEAM." Marcey referenced to the group. "You can't just go risk your life for us, and not tell us we are even in danger. I don't know about them, but I am used to death so before you try and protect me, you let me defend myself!" Her face was blood red, as she stood infront of John. Her eyes were a crystal blue color, and her eyes wouldn't stop watering. Before she realized it, she was dizzy, and she couldn't see. She took a step back, trying to avoid their eyesight. "Just do me a favor and leave me alone." She wandered blindly back to the direction she had come from, hoping she wouldn't run into anything. She turned a corner and stopped, sitting down in the wet grass. [I am so thirsty

"Are you guys alright?" Kyra looked and John. "Are we alright? Locking me in my room? How did you think that would work? We are a TEAM." She hid a smile at this.

"You can't just go risk your life for us, and not tell us we are even in danger. I don't know about them, but I am used to death so before you try and protect me, you let me defend myself!" At this, Shrade felt compelled to step forward and attempt to calm Marcey down. He moved to pull Marcey away from John when- "Just do me a favor and leave me alone." "Marcey!" He shouted her name and was about to dart after her when Kyra yanked him backwards. "Just leave her, I'll talk to her, and... You!"

Shrade watched his sister's face transform into pure fury... and something else, when she turned to snarl at John.

Kyra walked right up to John, and poked him on the chest. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!" And with that, she leaned forward and kissed him. What the hell is wrong with me? She quickly pulled away and darted after Marcey without a word said.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!" She was pissed. Couldn't really blame her, they were right. They were a team. He had hid them away, instead of letting them help. Sometimes, it was better to be hated, than loved.

Then she kissed him, and tookoff after Marcey. John didn't know what to do. She was, angry, but she had kissed him. He needed to fid something to take care of his face. He saw his reflection in the dorm room door as he passed, he scoffed at it. They knew, but he'd never be able to tell them what it was like. To be silent, to be a shadow. Save peoples lives, without even telling them they were in danger in the first place. But here, it was different. They could've handled their own, but he never gave them the chance. He wouldn't make that mistake twice. Marcey was right, they were a team, and that meant trusting each other.

He walked into the nurses office, and grabbed her suture kit. There was a hurt shiftier on her table, so he wasn't going to take her time from him. He stood in front of the mirror, and stitched his own face, 10 of them, and it was pure agony. he poured peroxide over the cut, and walked back out as the nurse just stared. He looked back at her, and spoke.

"You have more important things than myself, I'm fine."

He walked to his dorm room, trying to avoid the group. He walked to his windowsill, hoping for a message. Nothing. This was supposed to be a boring trip, he was here for an education. Yet it had been nothing but violence. Hopefully it would calm down, not for his own sake, but for everyone elses'. He was the reason that they came, and he was considering leaving. Maybe he'd stay in town, or he'd go back to the mountain. Then, he heard a knock at the door.

Marcey Parker

After sitting down, Marcey's eyesight began to come back. She tapped her foot, hoping that her eyes would work harder to adjust while moving. She breathed slowly, and closed her eyes. "Marcey?" She didn't have to open her eyes to recognize her mother's voice.

It isn't real, it's just an illusion. "Honey, it's me. Let me in. Let me help yo-" Next thing Marcey heard was the slam of car breaks and the rush of water on her face. The gurgling, the inability to breathe. She tried to scream out, but instead, she stood up. She realized that it had all been a dream. She couldn't remember falling asleep, or even being tired. She felt suddenly dizzy, as she saw a girls outline running toward her.

"Mom?" Marcey whispered inaudibly. The girl got closer and closer, and seemed to be slowing down, her image taking on more color and shape. "I'm fine Kyra." She couldn't look her in the eye, incapable of showing defeat. She was silent, not wanting to suggest any unnecessary information. "Is Shrade mad at me? Please tell me he isn't."

Kyra found Marcey. "Mom?" She started, "Do I really look that old? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Kyra."

"Is Shrade mad at me? Please tell me he isn't."

Kyra cocked her head, "Do humans normally deny what they can't emotionally handle? Oh, wait, you're not human, so you shouldn't be taking off when it is vital we need to stay in group." She was blunt and curious as she wasn't used to comforting other people. "Shrade isn't mad, or happy right now."

Still not knowing what to do, and feeling like she needed to get some stuff off her chest, she started talking, "I hate this school. I never wanted to come here in the first place, but... I see it has the advantages of meeting people who can easily become your friend." She sat down beside Marcey. "On the other hand, you will also meet pessimistic jerks like John Kenway." Her thoughts suddenly lingering on what she had done. "Marcey, I think I did something incredibly stupid; I kissed John before I took off after you bolted. I don't know why I did that, but I did and now I beginning to regret it." She pressed her knuckles lightly against her temple as if she could physically push the memory of kissing John Kenway, a human, out of her head.

"Leave, now" John had some serious thinking to do. She, well, she kissed him. He, felt something for her. No, this couldn't be. He had to go. He got up, and made his way outside, hoping fresh air would help him think. He was looking for Shrade, he felt a need to explain himself. He managed to find him in the courtyard.

"Listen, uhhhh, what just happened, I didn't know what to expect. I thought I could just, keep everyone away from my past. I brought this here, and I don't know what to do about it. This was an act of war. This, this is what I was before I came here. Our people, we will wage war. So, yeah, I'm sorry, I should've said something."

He didn't know how he would react, but it didn't matter now. They had seen it. Who he really was. No more secrets.

"I think I'm in love with your sister."

And with that, he walked into Washington, and to the bureau. It was more of a jog, he had questions that needed answering.

He was let in and ushered upstairs. He was let in before two other men, his messenger was expecting him.

"Good. You've got a message, from the mountain. I think you will find it pleasing." He handed him a small scroll, meant for a pigeon.
"Now, please, I have matters of war to discuss. They broke a treaty."

He left, and a cab was waiting outside.

He got back to the school, and snuck into his dorm. He began to read.

"You did the right thing. You will be staying at the school. You are not a part of this fight. You will not be until you finish the year. You were sent here for schooling, and that is what you will receive. If you disobey, you will be disbanded. Now, as for what just happened. The clerics agreed no violence in populated areas. Their own order has issued a burn notice on their Washington house. You know what this means. You are under stric orders not to participate whatsoever. Destroy this note. AK."

He ripped the small scroll in half, and threw it under his bed. He felt a want to go talk to Kyra, and Marcey. He went to Marcey'sroom, and knocked. "Its John."

Marcey

"Marcey, I think I did something incredibly stupid; I kissed John before I took off after you bolted. I don't know why I did that, but I did and now I beginning to regret it." Marcey sat back, closing her eyes. If she could focus on Kyra's voice, the hallucinations would stop.

"Wait? You seriously kissed him? I wish I had the balls to kiss-" She stopped. Ah, let's keep that to ourselves. "Don't regret it. You would regret it more if you hadn't done it. You hate him because you can't understand him, but I think you are just scared that he understands you more than anyone ever has. You are protecting yourself, by not letting yourself feel." She patted Kyra on the shoulder, and it hit her. She needed to take her own advice.

"Kyra, I think I need to find Shrade." She smiled, and she realized she was blushing. Her eyes had returned to their normal color, and she could distinguish color now, as if a thin layer of ice had melted from everything in sight. "Don't be scared to love him, because he is just as terrified to love you. What is the worst thing that can happen? Death? Hah, tell me about it." Marcey stood up and away from Kyra. "I need to go talk to someone about having my window fixed. I was too mad to unlatch it.. I kinda maybe might have thrown a picture frame out the window.. Heh."

She started off toward her room, hoping maybe to find Shrade along the way. "Go get him girl!" She called back to Kyra as she set off toward the building. She ran into Shrade right as she was about to enter.

"Hi.." She tried not to show how embarrassed she was about her outbreak. "I should go.." She ran past him, and into the building. She ran quickly to her room, and found John outside of it.

"My door is still locked thanks to you, you have to go in through the window." She had completely forgotten, and realized she was in the same boat as him. "Kyra is outside. I was just, um, telling you." She turned around and walked back to the courtyard.

Passing Shrade, she couldn't help to ask for his company. "I am going into town. I am fine now, I think. I can't get back in my room to change, so I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to get some clothes or something? I guess I will crash with Kyra or something. Or was she locked in too? Heh, we might just be sleeping with you guys tonight." She laughed, her face flushed.

"So uh, the question again- come to town with me?"

Shrade was pacing, or at least, he had been before John showed up again.

Shrade scowled, "No comment."

"I think I'm in love with your sister."

Before Shrade could snarl at John, the human took off again. Great, one crisis after another. He started pacing again, thinking of what Marcey and Kyra were talking about or if Kyra even caught up with Marcey. One thought after another.

"Hi.." Shrade looked up to see Marcey, "Ummm, that's all? You take off and just... You know, never mind." "I should go.." He watched her take off, yet again. "What is with everyone today?" He looked up at the sky as if it had the answers.

He stopped his pacing to go back to his dorm room when... "I am going into town. I am fine now, I think. I can't get back in my room to change, so I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to get some clothes or something? I guess I will crash with Kyra or something. Or was she locked in too? Heh, we might just be sleeping with you guys tonight." Shrade listened, but at the last possible second he did a double take. "Okay I'll go- Wait, what did you say?"

"So uh, the question again- come to town with me?"

Shrade had no idea what had just happened, but he nodded, trying to look like he caught everything she had just said. "Sure."

"Wait? You seriously kissed him? I wish I had the balls to kiss-" Marcey stopped. "Don't regret it. You would regret it more if you hadn't done it. You hate him because you can't understand him, but I think you are just scared that he understands you more than anyone ever has. You are protecting yourself, by not letting yourself feel."

Kyra was trying very hard to understand what Marcey was saying but... It all seemed so...

"Kyra, I think I need to find Shrade." Her thoughts were interrupted by Marcey. "Don't be scared to love him, because he is just as terrified to love you. What is the worst thing that can happen? Death? Hah, tell me about it." You really have no idea. "I need to go talk to someone about having my window fixed. I was too mad to unlatch it.. I kinda maybe might have thrown a picture frame out the window.. Heh. Go get him girl!""

Finding herself more in a situation than she had before, Kyra got to her feet and began walking to the school library. Reading will take my mind off everything... wait no - sparring will. She stopped, And sparring will only work if it's a being of equal power. She bolted to the training grounds where she found her target. "Hey, Diego."

The Demon with bright blue hair looked over at Kyra, "Hey stripes, wutchuwant?" He was currently moving the training mats around with the help of some cobra shifters. "Oh, nothing. Just to beat you in a match and maybe take your head to place on a stake at the school's entrance."

Diego raised his eyebrows, "What happened to the lovely goblin who only wanted to steal my candy after trick-or-treating?"

Kyra was about to reply when some of the Cobra shifters came over, "Hey look! It's the tiger-wolf hybrid! We heard the mongrel mutt twins were coming her." Kyra growled, but ignored them... for now.

"Where's your-" "Alright, enough with this." Diego snapped his fingers and the Cobra shifters yelped as they were thrown backwards by a wall of flame that vanished just as quickly as it appeared. "So where were we?"

And with that, Kyra punched him in the nose.

Diego fell backwards. "Oh, right, you wanted to start a fight." He jumped back onto his feet and tackled her.

No answer. It was probably better, he needed some time to calm down. The library seemed like the obvious choice. He made his way there, doing his best to avoid everyone. He sat at a table near the back, pulled out an empty ledger, and began to write. The day had been hard on John, and this was his way to stay level headed. But one fact stayed in the back of his head. She had kissed him.

Love under the age of 30 was forbidden to him. Yet, if he had ever felt anything for anyone, he loved her. Which was why he couldn't put her through his life style. But he did want her. His life, before this, it was lonely, friendless, and loveless. He wrote his feelings down in his ledger, hoping it would help him disconnect from them. It didn't. He was at a difficult impass. Normally, he would have left, everything. However, he couldn't. This would probably be the most important few days of his life, it was easy to be cold when you had nobody.

Marcey

Marcey waited for Shrade to catch up to her, as they started off toward town. "You probably think I am a total freak. I wouldn't blame you." She laughed to herself. She was embarrassed, practically in her bra in front of him, in the middle of the day, in public. "Here I am, standing practically in my bra, in the middle of the day, in public, and in front of YOU- not that being in my bra in front of you would be weird, but you know, time and place." She laughed awkwardly, taking in how wrong it sounded. They rounded the corner and found themselves in the middle of town. "I swear these kind of things make more sense in my head." She stopped and stared at a little old building to their left.

Her face lit up, "I want to show you something before we leave." She stepped into the nearest store, heading straight for the women's section. She picked up a forest green v-neck shirt, and sat it on the counter for check out. With due payment, she stepped out of the store, threw the shirt on, and slipped the piece of fabric off from around her torso.

"I am the most clumsy person ever. Just so you know." She smiled at him and his smile made her feel all fussy inside. "Okay, are you ready?" Her face lit up, as she grabbed his hand and ran into the old building on the corner. As soon as they opened the door, they were greeted by silence. The art museum was peaceful. She turned to see how Shrade would react.

"Are you okay? You act like you have never been in a town before. I found this place on my first run here." She walked through the building, unaware of her lack of releasing his hand. She pointed to a painting, a woman hunched over into a corner, the charcoal walls, seemed 3D, as if they were truly holding her still. "Don't you see? She has lost all faith, her back is against the wall. But this wall bends around her, rapping her in it's embrace, as if to say 'You can rely on me, I won't let you fall'." She stared at the artwork.

She spun around quickly, noticing that she was still holding his hand. "Oh, uh sorry." She smiled awkwardly, and asked something that had been long on her mind. "Do you still have my journal? It's okay if you do, I was just wondering." She felt uncomfortable, as if admitting that it held so much potential to her. "I am hungry, do you wanna stop at a cafe before we head back?" She smiled.

As they left the art museum, Marcey stopped. "You know what? Keep it- the journal. I trust you.. I guess I could say..you're my wall."
