God/Goddess
Aphrodite
God/Goddess of
Greek goddess of love, beauty, and sexuality.
Powers:
Can make anyone fall in or out of love or deep lust with any person of her choosing.
Personality:
Often Aphrodite is referred to as ill tempered. Ruled by emotions she is rather moody, her temper easily changing within seconds. Without a doubt she is the vainest creature alive, but anyone this gorgeous would have to be. Anyone who dares challenge or ignore her beauty pays an awful price, and she shows no mercy. Easily offended this woman can sometimes be hard to please or get along with. Though married, Aphrodite has been far from faithful, taking lovers who are both Immortal and human. Despite her many selfish qualities she does value the aspects of true love, and will normally make others fall in love accordingly. She has been known to lend a helping hand from time to time. Once this woman gets her eyes set on something, she will not stop until it is in her possession.
History:
Aphrodite had no childhood since she was born as a full grown adult. Being born of the sea foam near Paphos she floated in on a scallop shell. Due to her immense beauty, Zeus was frightened that she would be the cause of violence between the other gods. He married her off to Hephaestus, the dour, humorless god of smithing. Hephaestus was overjoyed at being married to the goddess of beauty and forged her beautiful jewelry, including the cestus, a girdle that made her even more irresistible to men. Her unhappiness with her marriage caused Aphrodite to seek out companionship from others (most frequently Ares).
