A fresh recruit, straight out of boot camp
For his size, he is a bit of a scaredy-cat. Hearing about the awful tales from the front, he grew to fear the war, and desperately hoped that the war would end before he was kicked out into the thick of it. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for him. He is generally nervous, tense, and oftentimes questioning. This leads many officers to become annoyed with him, because he needs to know what do to for any possible situation. He is of mid-level intelligence, and would often bite the neck of his shirt when he was nervous. This was something that had been stamped out by the boot camp sergeants.
Though he appears a bit of a frightened mouse now, the young man's form will be recast as he experiences battle again and again. As soft as he is now, he is almost too afraid to pick up a rifle and even peek over the trench.
-All basic equipment

*- explained in history
His parents, immigrants from the blistery freezing eastern world brought their child to a hellish war that they were not informed of. Reluctantly, the father went off to serve in the military as he could find no other job. While this paid the bills, his mother was constantly worrying for his father. His father was a native to this land, though for reasons unknown his own parents went off to the east. His father fell in love with a girl there. So, to help him fit in with the other children he was given the name "Roderick" instead of the more favored "Dmitri". Growing up like any child, Roddy was of middling intelligence and hoped to work some sort of quiet job as he got older. His friends hoped that the war wouldn't end so they could have their turn, while Roddy knew the war wasn't ending fast enough. With his mother's worrying and frantic actions rubbing off on her son, Roderick became fearful of the war. When his turn came, he unwillingly stepped up to the plate and was shipped off to boot camp. Before leaving, his mother gave him her family heirloom- a beautiful Shashka sword. Though it was tough getting it past regulations, he was allowed to keep it as long as he learned how to use it so he wouldn't become a danger to his allies.
During boot camp, the one thing that brightened the dark hellish world there was the required action to meet a girl for the breeding program. He met a beautiful girl that he genuinely fell in love with.
It would be then that he received a letter detailing his father's death due to a mustard gas attack. Anger motivated Roderick to complete any task the drill sergeant gave him, but in the end he was just another fresh meat to toss out into the battlefield. While his friends were sent off into different areas such as machine gunning, the air regiment, and different squads, Roderick was plucked out of the recruits to join as a soldier that would protect the massive Landship, a hunk of metal that looked more likely to explode than actually function. This gave Roderick some relief. With this, he had some steel to hide behind, and large guns to clear out threats. He could survive. And with luck, she would too.
