a character in “Hell's Laboratory”, as played by Jexis

Description

Name: Vincent
Age: 17 (Doesn't age)
Gender: Male
Physical Description (pictures recommended with descriptions): His white hair is natural due to chemicals exposed during creation. Image or Image He's 6'2 and has dark eyes. He is muscular but is still slender. He usually doesn't bother to do anything with his hair, so it looks somewhat messy.
Personality: Bitter and resentful of basically everything, this pessimist hates the scientists and the laboratory. He doesn't know how to make friends, and is therefore somewhat of in an introvert in the sense that he keeps to himself. Vincent lashes out at anyone that comes near him and is very unwilling to trust. On the inside, he's a good person, but he'd never show it to a stranger.
Likes: Cookies, fire, darkness
Dislikes: Small spaces, needles, scientists, overly friendly people
Fears: Ice, coldness
Skills: Would be a good drummer if he had drums (can keep rhythm), though he doesn't know it he can give others a sense of protection
Mutations/'gifts': Fire.
History: Vincent is the twin of Jacob and is one of the beta test subjects. He was created the same way as his brother and is confined to one room unless accompanied by Jacob. He killed five scientists when they were trying to adapt his sight (his sight is normal) and the scientists tend to keep away from him usually.
Extra: He spends almost all his spare time further perfecting his skill, though he has already mastered it.

So begins...

"Hey Ambrose?" the young man asked the elderly doctor next to him. Ambrose looked at him with dull eyes and raised two furry eyebrows in question. "I'm thinking about taking Vince around, trying to get him to meet some people, you know? He's always just sitting there being a loner. Really depressing if you think about it." Ambrose made a 'hmmf' sound in response with a slight nod of his head. "Yeah, I think it's a good idea too," the young man said as the doctor removed the now full syringe from his arm and put the blood into a vial marked 'Jacob-27512'. As he rolled his shirt sleeve down he continued talking to the nearly deaf old man.

"We'll probably end up same as always, training, but it's worth a shot...isn't it?" The old man nodded and spoke to the boy gruffly.

"Go," he clapped the boy on his shoulder with a worn smile and opened the big, metal door leading out of the examination room. Jacob waved at his old friend before jogging down the hallway.

The light wasn't real, but it was the only sunlight that the test subjects had known. It was as bright as normal sunlight and colored more or less the same. Jacob had guessed it was for the sake of the doctors that had to stay longer than others. Jacob knew it wasn't genuine sunlight, but he thought of it as real and loved it. Jacob stopped in front of his brother's door and knocked twice quickly, waited one second, then knocked again. They had developed the knock two decades previously for privacy reasons. Jacob hummed to himself while his brother slowly dragged himself to the door and pushed it open.

"What?" Vincent asked icily.

"Come on, cheer up Vinny-"

"DON'T call me that!"

"-going to let you explore with me, it'll be fun! We can go-"

"How many times do I have to tell you, I don't like people?"

"-moves and then we'll go over to the greenhouse. I'll even get you a treat!" Jacob was begging now.

"Sugar cookie," Vincent mumbled.

"Hm?"

"You heard me, Jake!" his brother yelled. Jacob laughed and literally dragged his brother from the comfort of his dark room. Jacob's laughs and his brother's protests echoed down the hallway.

"One of these days, a new guy is going to come along and shoot your empty head right off your neck," Vincent grumbled to his brother and let small flames dance at his fingertips as he walked down the corridor, a nervous habit he had recently developed. Jacob sighed loudly and opened one of the dark gray doors.

"You're just a worrywart, we're beta subjects, one of the first batch!" Jacob said with pride, "Vinny, they can't afford to get rid of us."

"Yeah, they can. It's the government. They can do whatever the hell they want." Jacob rolled his eyes and ignored his brothers comment as they went into the dark room. Jacob quickly felt around the wall for the light switch.

"You traitorous monster of slime," Vincent growled through his teeth and flames immediately shot up his arms, licking at his sleeves and dancing in the air. His eyes were red and he was looking at his brother with a murderous aura.

"Vinny, come on, it's just a check-up! It's better that I took you here than a scientist, just get it done," Jacob said quickly before running out of the room and slamming the door behind him.

Vincent turned to follow him when a scientist plunged a sedative into his arm, making him fall to the floor unconscious.

Ebony

"Just one more?"
"One more."
Ebony tilted her head away from the man, deciding not to struggle, and he pressed a long needle into her upper arm. After several electroshock tests that day, she was hardly in the mood for the four shots she had just been given.
"Done."
In a second the tall dark haired girl was in the doorway, pausing to look back at the Latino. "I can go?"
"Yes, you may go, but-"
She was gone before he could finish, long pale legs carrying her down the hall faster than his words. Her tail swayed as she darted around lab equipment, protruding from the fine cut hole in her hot pants, just over her tailbone. Her slender fingers rubbed the couple drops of blood on her bare arms, wiping the blood on her black tank top. She was back in the 'dorm halls' in mere minutes. Technically, they were cells, but rooms and dorms had a much better ring to them.
Ebony entered her room and grabbed a quarter sleeve jacket before rushing back off down the hallway. A couple minutes later, lost in thought, she slammed into a man in a lab coat. They were each moving at a brisk pace, so the momentum sent Ebony flying back. She did a quick back handspring to land on her feet, and crouched like an animal, anticipating. The man looked pretty pissed.
"Where are you going so fast, huh Ebs?" He growled, using her nickname in a mean way.
The dark haired girl sighed. "Well, I just got off tests and I haven't eaten since yesterday, so I was probably going to the kitchens... I'm really sorry!" She added a slight bow hoping it might give the man a sense of superiority and leave her alone. She glanced up and could see he was debating in his head whether to punish her or not.
"I can bring you lunch on my way back...?"
He shook his head, softening at the suggestion. As Ebony had hoped, he had decided for no punishment.
"That's alright. Be more careful. Go eat some, we have some fun tests scheduled for tomorrow."
Ebony cringed but nodded, moving swiftly around him and into a patch of shadow before he could change his mind. When he turned, she was nowhere to be seen.
____

Ebony crawled up a wall, deciding to practice one of her favorite games on her way to the kitchen; Upside down gymnastics. It was pretty fun trying to do flips and such on the ceiling without falling, and if she did fall she often scared someone, which was fun in itself. On her way she passed over two boys, one basically dragging the other.
Though Ebony didn't personally know them, she thought it'd be fun to see how many ceiling walkovers she could do over them, until there paths diverted or she fell. Or if they noticed. Which would be funny too.
Before she had even gotten to seven, they went into a room and the dark haired one came running out without the other, slamming the door. Ebony watched him curiously, but the white haired one didn't come out. Wanting to know what exactly was happening, (had he helped the scientists somehow?) Ebony crawled easily down the wall where he could see her, so he wouldn't be surprised.
"Hi! Can I ask why you would willingly shove your friend in a checking room??" She questioned cocking her head. "Unwilling tests?"
She circled him lithely, recognizing him as a beta subject, meaning that he was one of the twins she had heard about. Interesting.

Jacob smiled down at the blonde girl and carried her into the kitchen, sitting her down in a chair in the corner, focusing water around her so it formed a bubble surrounding her. He was about to apologize to Ebony when another girl walked in, this one with a bandage on her wrist. Must've been punishment for something or another. "You guys been punished yet?" Jacob smirked thinking Darling, have I ever... After being around for so long, of course he had, but there was no way she'd know that. "This ain't the first time-" she raised her wrist as proof when she suddenly stopped in mid sentence. Jacob raised an eyebrow at her curiously. "Be...behind..."

Jacob looked at Ebony, them himself, before glancing over at the blonde girl. No, nothing was there. So what could the girl be...? She screamed. No, it wasn't just a scream, it was a bloodcurdling shriek. It was like something you heard barely escaping the punishment/torture rooms. Was the girl hallucinating? Having a vision? Damn, the possibilities were endless in this place. "Hey...hey, look at me! You're fine, okay? What's your name? You're fine, trust me," Jacob placed his hands on the sides of her face, forcing her to look him in the eyes. This usually worked for calming people down, but he didn't know the girl and had no idea how she'd react to a stranger doing this. Sometimes he forgot that other subjects didn't receive such good treatment as he and his brother did.

He was getting overwhelmed at this point. I need help with this... Jacob closed his eyes and took a deep breath in, deep breath out. "Okay, Ebony, lunch is probably getting prepared in the cafeteria, do me a huge favor and sneak some for you guys. You," he turned to the girl with the bandages, "take some of this," he handed her a clear vial meant to relax patients, "and you," he looked at Payson, "try not to move too much, you're really weak right now."

-Vincent-
"DAMN I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!" Vincent burst out of the room, flames darting off his body. His eyes were a dark red and his jaw was clenched. Oh when I get my hands on him...! He stalked down the corridor and ended up roaming the laboratory, stopping at a random room when he realized he was lost. "Dammit, all the years I've been here and I still get lost," he grumbled to himself. His nervous habit of letting flames play at his fingertips acted up again.

Okay, where to go, where to go...Here's good as anywhere I guess. he opened the door nearest to him with an uninterested expression that quickly changed to surprise upon seeing a girl with orange hair. She was chained to the floor and to the wall, chains surrounded her. She was pretty, he noted that mentally, but he didn't know if she was dangerous or not.

"Um..." he started to speak, then thought better of it. For a while he just stood awkwardly, then started grumbling to himself out of frustration. He had never been good at talking.

Dime tilted her head back to see who had walked into her room. "Why hello there~" She said, stopping her smiling since her bangs fell out of the way of her eyes. She didn't usually have other patients visit her, so she assumed he has lost. "I'm Dime." She gave him a maniacal smile before stopping to think.

"Would you like to be my friend?" She asked after a few moments of silence. She knew the scientists had left a while ago, a few moments before the boy stepped into her room. She moved slightly to get more comfortable in her prison of chains. She supposed it could be nice to make a friend here, so she doesn't become unruly.

Marik stopped at the room that Alesha was is and the girl looked at him with pleading eyes. "Foolish girl, you're barking up the wrong tree." He looked at her before looked to Alesha.

"You're doing it all wrong." He pulled the sickle out of her jacket once more, handing it over. "You have to cut out her tongue so she makes no loud screaming." He turned around and walked towards the door. He waited in the door before saying, "I'd like my sickle back when you're done."

With that, he walked out the door and continued to walk around.

Vincent didn't reply with anything but his name, "Vincent," before walking towards her. He stopped about two feet from her and bent down slightly to see her face more clearly. "Why do you have chains?" it was a childish question, but in a sense he was a child. He hadn't had communication with other subjects, and when he did, it wasn't friendly. This was more of a first time situation. He brushed her bangs out of her eyes without thinking. His thoughts were running at a thousand miles. What was he doing?! Why was he touching her?? Leave!! He had wanted to see her eyes, maybe that was the reason. Whatever it was, it was too late and he had already done it. He smiled a very, very small smile. The tiniest twitch of facial muscles, not even noticeable to anyone in the dark room.
"I'm sorry," was his response. He quickly left the room, his face turning bright red and his teeth clenched together tightly.
He closed the door and leaned against it, "What the hell was that??"
He saw someone yell down the hall, a girl. Upon closer inspection he recognized Jacob with them. Glaring at him, he aimed his fire at him and released it in a small, spear-like shape. Jacob saw it two seconds before it hit him and gathered a wall of water from somewhere to his right, flinging at the spear and causing it to dissipate into smoke and steam.
"Sometimes I hate being the weaker element," he grumbled. Vincent shoved his hands into his pockets as he went towards them. He wanted Jacob to take him back to his room since he had no idea where he had gone.
"Hey, Vince!" Jacob smiled and waved cheerfully. He grumbled in return.
"Look, I have no idea whe-....who are they?" he stopped mid-sentence to ask who the other people in the kitchen were.
"Oh, this is Payson, and this is Forest. Forest, by the way I have sort of a water affinity-type power, and Vinny here's got fi-"
"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO CALL ME THAT?!" Vincent shouted and pinned his brother to the wall. He really was not in the mood for his little jokes.
"Fire!" Jacob finished with a smile.

Yuji grimaced as he was pulled out of a truck and stared being dragged foreword by two large men in suites. It had been a long trip and he had no idea where he was. he had been stuck in that truck for what two? three days? "Where am I-" he started to say before he was interrupted my a guard.

Be quite you freak, you are at your new home the guard got an evil smirk on his face. As he walked though a door into a room which he believed to be the main entrance. he was lead down stair's and though hallway's untell a group of teen's came into sight. the guard pushed him foreword tell he was right next to them. the guard spoke in a loud voice not caring that he was interrupting there conversation and said "Hay freak's i got a new one here to become one of your little group, show him the ropes and so forth because I'm out of here" he then turned around and left Yuji standing there in front of the group.

"Umm hello may i ask what is this place? What are we doing here?" Yuji asked the group in general feeling lost and confused at his current predicament. whale he waited for someone to tell him what was going on he looked over the group real quick. hmm these are some odd one's he thought to himself not that he was one to judge others, himself being very odd.

These are some odd ones Rowan could hear the thought. Her head lifted from the rat and she walked slightly quicker. If she could find the source of the thought, maybe she could see if he knew where the kitchen was. She looked down at the little rat in her hands. Do you know the way? she smiled. She couldn't communicate with the little thing, but it was nice being able to hold him. As Rowan neared a group of teenagers who looked about the same age as her, she felt mini 'Ambrose' squirming. To her disappointment, it jumped from her hands and ran to a boy who was sitting down alone with a tray of food. She wasn't sure, but she was almost certain that she did indeed hear it.
Please talk to me it was a sad voice. Rowan frowned slightly and looked at the group. They were in the main part of the kitchen, but from the looks of it, it was getting rather close to full. She hesitantly followed the rat and walked quietly to where the boy was. Rowan stopped in front of his table and looked at him with big eyes. She bit her lower lip, debating whether or not to say, or rather, think to him. She suddenly felt attention on her from him and felt her face turn red. Rowan hurried over to the counter with food behind it, slipping on the somehow wet tile in the process.
She bit her lower lip harder, almost drawing blood. Her eyes cringed close with embarrassment and she quickly pushed herself up off the ground. Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy! She just wanted to get the milk carton for Dr. Ambrose and get out before she messed up again.
She looked around the counter, not seeming to find what she was looking for. Come on, come on, it has to be somewhere she thought desperately.

Vincent looked at a girl who was entering the cafeteria, frowning as she fell. Too clumsy. He felt bad for her though, it was bad enough to be in here. But he looked closer. The card, it was what some of the younger scientists had. He frowned more but didn't say anything.

Jacob, on the other hand, was oblivious to the accident he had caused with his water. "Oh, you don't know yet...Well, I'm sorry to inform you, but you are currently in Black Rock Desert, Nevada. We're underground right now, and you were probably brought in here for more tests or experiments, assuming you come from another laboratory. My name's Jacob, I kinda like Jake better, and this is my brother Vinn-I mean, Vincent. This is our friend Forest, and that girl over there is Payson. We're all subjects here, er, patients..." Vincent looked at him with a slightly annoyed look.
"Sure he knows enough from that?" Jacob frowned in return.
"What's your name?" Jacob asked him. He offered a friendly smile. Yeah, he might've been overdoing it, but he'd need it here. It's nice to get some people to talk to.
Vincent sighed before suddenly remembering something and hurrying back to his room, mumbling something to himself. Jacob looked after him but didn't try to stop him. He then looked back at the new guy.

Forest watched as Jacob and 'Vinny' fought it out. Seemed she had at least been able to change the subject, as Jacob turnedto her and told her his power was "sort of a water-affinity type power," and that 'Vinny' had, "Fire!" Forest grinned at the two boys hopefully playful arguing. "Hey, 'Vinny'," she said with a small smirk. Just then a boy walked in -well rather, was forced in by guards - looking very confused.

"Umm hello may i ask what is this place? What are we doing here?"
Jacob answered before Forest could put in the little information she knew.
We're all subjects here, er, patients..." Forest didn't miss the annoyed glance Vincent gave Jake, and vaguely wondered what that was about.

"Subjects," Forest said, slightly more forcefully than she intended. "Not patients. Subjects. Patients makes it sound like we need fixing." Forest crossed her arms. "I was perfectly fine the way I was before." She mumbled the last part, in fear of someone overhearing them.

Vincent walked off after murmuring something that Forest couldn't make out.
"Yuji," the boy said. "This place is similar to the last lab I was at when it comes to the building structure although the staff seems to be a little hostile..."
"You get used to it..." Forest said grimly. She thought about it for a second. "Well, sort of. And you were at a lab before this?" That sounded... unusual. Was that normal in this place? The boy turned his head to look at a girl that had fallen. He looked upset. That's life... Forest thought, mentally rolling her eyes. Why worry over someone you don't even know? She shook her head. He obviously does know her. You retard.

"One second I'll be right back, oh and thanks for the intro, hope we can be good friends," Yuji said, giving Forest a wink. Forest blushed slightly and gave him a small smile in return.

"Did I miss fun happy play time or is it just recess for the young an retarded?"
Forest swivelle her head to see who had spoken. "Young and retarded? And fun happy play time?! Do you not know where we..." Forest trailed off as she spotted the tall, red haired man who had joined their group. Her eyes widened as she took him in. He... isn't bad looking, she noted.

"Welcome to hell new comers, I am not sad to say I doubt many of you will last long enough to really get to know someone. Jacob, come on you've been here long enough to not be instilling hope into these young ones."
"New comers? I've been here for..." Forest thought about it for a second. "Well, I'm not sure. Since I was young, anyway."

"They call me guy, I've been here longer than I can literally remember. Odds are I'll see you die here, but hey, thats our lot in life isn't it?" the man continued, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Forest had spoken. Forest gritted her teeth at his last comment. Unfortunately, yes... she thought. "Guy? Creative," she commented.

"It's fine, Guy. Better to tell them anyways so they know what to expect," Jacob piped in. Not like I was expecting anything better from his shit hole anyway, Forest thought to herself.
"Forest, inner beast, Payson, fish hybrid," he continued. Yes. That was smart, letting a Beta, according to 'Guy' know my power. Aren't they pretty much the best of the best? And the goody-two-shoes... she thought. And I told him I thought about escaping. Amn't I clever?
"This is Guy, oldest of the subjects," Jake said.

Forest raised an eyebrow, pretending not to be impressed. Oldest of the subjects...? Woah. How long has he been able to live in this Hell Hole?
"Oldest of subjects...You make it sound like a grand title or something. The only thing 'special' about me is that they can't seem to kill me. Not that it doesn't hurt everytime." Guy gave a sigh, and Forest turned to look at him again. Woah.. he is freakin' gorgeous. She felt a twinge of sympathy as he said "Not that it doesn't hurt everytime." What a messed up life they all had.

"Just like that incident with your brother, took me weeks to get all my skin back. I'll pretend to be interested, Forest and Payson is it? Charmed I'm sure." So Vincent was Jake's brother. Weeks to get his skin back? Why would any Subject do that to another one? The Scientists were the enemy! "Very charmed," Forest said sarcastically, silently hoping he couldn't read her mind or something.
