Liam Banks

You can't see me...right?

0 · 401 views · located in New York City

a character in “Hero: Awakening”, as played by cirrus_sd

Description

Name: Liam Banks

Age: 25

Description: Image

Nicknames: invisible man

Power: Invisibility. He can make himself invisible at will, and sometimes unwillingly, as well as the clothes on him. He can also sometimes make small objects invisible as well, so long as he is touching it. In theory, he could make many things invisible at will, without touching it. It is unknown whether he can make force fields yet.

History: A grad student working on his second masters in philosophy, Liam is painfully shy. He has had issues socializing his entire life. This may be because his parents never spent much time with him, as they were always away on business trips. He had an affluent, but lonely, childhood. He spent a lot of time reading. His interest in philosophy started at a young age because of this. He attended Cambridge university for his bachelors, and moved to the US for grad school at Harvard. The day of the eclipse he had a bit of a headache and took a nap. When he woke up, all was fine until he went to his bathroom. To his great surprise, he couldn't see himself. He then discovered he could turn invisible, and has been practicing his powers. Because of the initial unpredictability of the power, he took leave from school for medical reasons and has been staying at his apartment, trying to figure out what is going on and why.

Likes: Reading, philosophy, his cat, movies, Chinese food, and wine

Hates: Being ignored bluntly, socializing (or at least greatly dislikes it), turning invisible randomly in public, the fact he has no friends, and getting tongue-tied, especially around girls

Fears: Liam fears that he will be lonely his entire life. Although he is finding some solace in his books and how to deal with it, loneliness, though he is used to it, is not something he wants in his life. He is also afraid of dying, as his existence is the only thing keeping him going. He also fears public speaking and has huge stage fright.

Equipment/Supplies/Items: Liam has several books, and keeps a Swiss army knife on him at all times. He also has a pocket watch.

Other: In a pathetic attempt to try and get friends, Liam used to work out at a gym. He has quit, but he can still bench press a considerable amount, and enjoys running.

So begins...

Nadi ran until her chest hurt. The water bottle in her knapsack had banged uncomfortably against her back, her purse against her legs, and she did everything in her power to keep herself from collapsing onto the dirty city alleyway. She leaned against the brick wall, breathing heavily, moving the water bottle with one of her hands so it didn't press against her.

What the hell had happened?

She remembered the eclipse, and the strange numb feeling she felt as she crossed the street. And then there were a myriad of lights, a crushing pain...she felt her own side. Somewhat bruised, but otherwise completely intact. Her knees were scraped from the road...she remembered tumbling quite a distance, and then skidding. Her pants were nearly indecent. And then, blackout. Like she had fainted. Fainted from being hit by a car? If only.

She fingered the hole in her shirt, from where the police officer had shot her. It was directly over her heart. If the car hadn't killed her, this definitely should have. Why wasn't she dead?

Her blood stained her hands and her clothes. She couldn't go around like this. She pulled off her clothes right there in the alleyway and slipped on the clean windbreaker from her knapsack. She wrapped her shawl around her pants, hiding the worst. She washed some of the water off her face and hands, and after some thought, threw the bloodied clothes away. They were beyond repair as far as she was concerned. And at least it would give her a valid excuse to shop.

Gathering her thoughts together, she started walking down the sidewalk, thinking about her situation practically. She'd probably need to leave the city. Or at least leave the part of the city where she had been staying at. People would mistake her for a ghost, or worse, a zombie. Nah, maybe leaving the city would be better. Who knew where those people went?

She pondered on the thought of the subway. She never liked being underground. Subways weren't as bad as taxis so long as not many people were on them. A crowd would kill her for sure. Though it seemed she had an antidote for that...

She noticed a tall man standing nervously at a corner. Looks like Michael Fassbender... she thought to herself. That would have been all she thought of the man, if he hadn't suddenly disappeared. She stared, shocked, at the spot where he had been standing previously. A few seconds later, he reappeared, same spot, grumbling to himself. He caught her eye and immediately looked away before entering a taxi. The taxi had hardly gone farther when suddenly gunshots pelted the metal exterior of the car, causing her to jump. These men didn't look like police officers. One of them saw her. Without another thought, Nadi raced down the stairs that led to the subway. She bought the first ticket she saw and waited anxiously for the train. Thankfully, it was empty, and she stood in the middle. Her nerves from the men with the guns and her own phobia piled on her, and it took all her concentration to keep her from flat-out panicking.

She got off at the next station, unable to take much more. It was dark, here for some reason. Some boys had just run up the stairs. She decided to follow suit, and briskly headed towards the light. Five steps. Three more. She thought she heard a crackling, along with the moaning of a girl next to the stairs, but pushed it aside as some hallucination from the subway or something. Nearly there...

Before she could take another step, she felt a barrel pressed firmly against the back of her head. She hardly had time to lift her eyes when she heard a deafening sound and an excruciating pain that continued to wrack her head as she fell backwards down the stairs, landing heavily with a sickening crack on the edge of the last step.

As soon as he heard gunshots he ducked, turning invisible whether he wanted to or not. The car crashed to a stop, and he rolled out, running across the street, still invisible, as the gunmen prodded the car inside. Taxi was too risky. He'd need to take the subway. He jogged a bit just to put some distance before running down the stairs. He was stopped when a girl with a panicked and extremely bloody face crashed into him, forcing him visible.

"You!" the girl exclaimed. He recognized her. He had seen her shortly before the unfortunate taxi incident. "You...what...you were just..." the girl spoke quickly, her mind running too fast for her mouth. "Can you....did it happen to you too??" she managed to get out.

He gulped. He wasn't good at talking. Now was probably a worse time than ever. He nodded slightly as he helped the girl up. "I thought I saw you disappear," she said, "But I wasn't sure...I thought my mind was playing tricks with me."

Well, considering all that blood on her forehead, it wasn't surprising. She must have noticed him staring. "This is the least of it," she said, pointing at the blood, "I got hit by a car earlier."

They stood awkwardly, neither moving. Finally, the girl said, hand on her hip, "Well, ya going somewhere?"

Her frank tone startled him somewhat. "Well...I....was g-going to use...the.....sub-way...." he mumbled, "The...the taxi....d-didn't work out...well....um..."

"Oh right. Someone shot it out," the girl replied. "Well, I would highly recommend against the subway. In fact, I--"

Her words were interrupted by a sudden whirlwind that seemed to come from down the street. Cars, papers, a mailbox, all began flying around like a tornado. So, there were more people. Liam wanted to walk away, but a part of him was inclined to go towards the whirlwind. When it stopped, he made up his mind and started walking. If there were others, like him, and like her, it would be good to make alliances, or at least figure out what was going on.

"Hey, Mister! You crazy?? Why are you going towards the mini-tornado?? Hey!" The girl caught up to him. He ignored her and continued on.

He was nearly there when he noticed a girl on her hands and knees, crawling on the sidewalk that was leading to an alleyway. After watching someone kick her, he immediately came to her aid. "Now what are you doing??" the girl demanded, "You know there are people trying to have us killed, you know? They already killed me once!"

He looked at the girl on the ground. "Where....where are you...um....are you....are you ok?" he stammered softly. The other girl stood impatiently, arms crossed as she kept a wary eye out.

"Hey, Mister! You crazy? Why are you going towards the mini-tornado? Hey!"
More yelling, arguing. What ever was in that needle had to be screwing with her head. Tornadoes? Had she banged her head? Lilith gritted her teeth, wincing as she realized her ribs weren't healing as she'd like them to. She stopped where she was, holding her ribs for a moment and trying to catch her breath.
"Now what are you doing? You know there are people trying to have us killed, you know? They already killed me once!"
Now this got her attention, eyes flashing upwards to see two figures standing nearby, male and female. "What... What did you just say?" She wheezed, focussing on the woman. Surely she heard that wrong. The drugs playing tricks?
"Where....where are you...um....are you....are you ok?"

The poor bloke was stuttering to the point where Lilith had begun to check herself over for a knife or something sticking out of her back. She couldn't honestly say that it hadn't happened before. Finding nothing, she smiled weakly at him. Not bad looking, all things considered...
"If you could help me up, it would be of a great help," She breathed, her accent coming out surprisingly thick. "If you don't mind. I think I've broken a rib."

If this good samaritan obliged, she would find herself still a little unsteady on her feet, putting an arm around him and using the other to push the bones back until the healed correctly. She would both apologise and thank him. If he refused, she would mouth both of them off before trying to fix it were she was.

Nadi blinked when she heard the girl on the ground speak to her. She looked at her cautiously, an eyebrow raised. "I said they already killed me once....but...but only metaphorically of course!" Nadi didn't even know this girl, and she didn't want to risk another freak out from this still new knowledge that she somehow couldn't die.

She watched the quiet guy help the girl up. She had a really thick accent...was it British? Nadi rolled her eyes. "Great...an invalid..." Just the thing they needed! It didn't help that she herself was homeless, and she wasn't a fan of hospitals...all those tight operation rooms.

"I don't suppose you have an apartment we can take you to?" Nadi asked the girl. To her surprise, the man answered instead, albeit in his usual, slow way. "I...do....it's....it's not too far....from here...." He looked down at his feet, still holding the other girl. "Just....down...the street....um..."

"Dude, do you have a speech impediment or something?" Nadi asked bluntly. The guy winced somewhat, and shook his head. "N-no...." he stammered, "I'm just...not.....used to....talking....um...." he took a breath, "Just shy."

Nadi snorted nonchalantly. "Whatever. Now, come on, before more people shoot at us." Though it really wouldn't be that much of a problem for her.

Lilith winced slightly as she was helped to her feet by this stranger, but was grateful none the less when he allowed her to support herself against him. She could hear the girl giving out beside them, but didn't have the energy to return with a retort of any kind.
"I don't suppose you have an apartment we can take you to?"
She shook her head. She hadn't been back since she'd Emily had been hospitalized except to pick up a few essentials for herself and her friend. She didn't want to risk it. Fortunately the man was there for her again.
"I...do....it's....it's not too far....from here.... Just....down...the street....um..."
"Thank you." She breathed softly, meaning it. Speaking, even breathing was become a little tougher now... Hopefully the rib hadn't punctured a lung as well. She could recover from a pneumothorax on her own, but it was long and painful and not something you wanted when somebody had either tried to kill or kidnap you.
She removed her wallet from her pocket, placing it between her teeth before she moved her hands down to her already bruised and swollen side; signs that her body was trying to heal quickly, but failing to do so. She poked around for a moment or two, before she swallowed a yell as she found the other end of her rib. If it was broken, it hadn't moved very far. The next thing she did was a very stupid thing to do for any normal person to do; she physically forced the two pieces of bone back together, biting down on the wallet to stop herself from screaming out from the pain. By the time she opened her eyes, putting an arm around him to steady herself again, most of the swelling was gone, and the bruising was slowly, but surely fading away.
"Med student," She explained, quickly replacing her wallet and putting a hand over her side to hide the damage being repaired. She didn't wear see-through mesh expecting others to see her heal up cuts and bruises. "Dad's a doctor too."

"Dude, do you have a speech impediment or something?"
Lilith could feel the man tense up. Obviously she'd hit a sore spot. "N-no.... I'm just...not.....used to....talking....um.... Just shy."
"What's her problem?" She muttered quietly, hoping she wouldn't hear.
"Whatever. Now, come on, before more people shoot at us."
She blinked, looking up at the man then back to the girl again. "We'd better go now, quickly."
What the hell was she thinking?

Liam wasn't sure what the girl had done--med student was hardly an excuse for that sort of thing....--but since she didn't seem to be in as much pain anymore. Still, ever the gentleman, he picked her up and walked briskly down the street, the other girl following behind, yelling: "Hey! Ya think you could give a warning next time, before you take off??"

He reached his apartment building quickly. It really was close by, nearing the outskirts of the city. He wasn't that big a fan of crowds, but being able to hear the distant chatter of the night-life...it made him feel less lonesome.

He punched in the ^ button for the elevator, still holding the girl. The other girl stayed back, looking, strangely enough, almost scared.

"I'm....gonna take the stairs..." she said, her usually brusque tone fading. It returned with her next statement, as she seemed to regain her confidence: "They're faster anyways, and at least I can trust my own legs, instead of some complicated system of levers and pulleys. And what if the power goes out? Then where will you be?" she almost seemed to smirk. She walked up two steps before stopping. "What floor are you on?"

"...Fifth..." Liam replied softly. A little too softly it seemed. The girl cupped her hand around her ear and leaned forward. "What??" she demanded. "Fifth" he said, a bit louder, almost annoyed. His tone must have shown, because the girl tossed her head, "Well you don't need to get snooty with me!" she declared, as she started up the stairs, "It's not my fault you don't talk loud enough." And with that, she was gone.

The elevator arrived seconds afterwards, and he walked in, pressing 5 with his thumb. As the elevator ascended, he stood awkwardly in silence with the girl. A split-second decision later, he put the girl back down, just as the doors opened on the fifth floor.

The other girl was already waiting, though from her breath, he guessed she had just arrived. "See? Told ya it was faster," she said, arms crossed. He walked past her, the other girl in tow as he gave her his arm for support. He stopped at his door and pulled out his key. His fingers trembled slightly, mainly from nervousness. He had never taken a person to his apartment before, especially not two girls! This whole experience was quite new to him...an interesting choice of day for it, too. Fate worked mysteriously, if this even was fate.

Finally, he managed to unlock the door before another surly remark came out from the teenager. He urged them inside, and shut the door quickly behind them, locking both the knob and the dead-bolt. The apartment was a little too big for just one person, but with the three of them inside, it seemed just the right size, if a tad bit cozy. They were currently in the living room, a small kitchen to their left and a coat closet to their right. Also to their right was a doorway that led to a small hallway that led on either end to a bedroom and a small study, a bathroom in the middle. It was tidy, as Liam often had too much time on his hands to be messy, what with his lack of social life. He motioned awkwardly at the couch as he stood. He really wasn't sure what to do in these sort of situations. It didn't help that this particular situation wasn't exactly normal, at least for two of them. Though he wondered if coincidence was at play here and the injured girl also had some sort of special ability. He wasn't one to pry though, so he didn't ask.

The other girl, the one with the attitude, immediately opened one of his living room windows. "Much better!" she exclaimed, "Now it isn't so stuffy! You got a bathroom?" She was already walking towards the hallway and pulled the door open. "Never mind," she chimed, and Liam heard running water. No doubt she was washing the blood off her face.

He looked at the other girl, not sure what to say. "So...um...." he ventured, cheeks flushing. Maybe this wasn't such a hot idea after all.... "Can...c-can I....can I get you...any..thing?"

Jesus. What kind of gun was that?

After much scrubbing, she finally got the blood off. As she dried her face, she heard The guy talking. More like stuttering. Must be a real case of nerves. The other girl spoke as well, asking for his name. Nadi had put the towel down when she heard the line: "I'm guessing that Prince Charming isn't." She rolled her eyes. Oh please. It was a bit romantic, she had to admit. In a cheesy-ish sort of way.

She switched off the light and turned to see the girl kissing him lightly on the cheek, and then thank him. Even though she could only see the back of his head, he was clearly blushing. Just from his ear, she could see the quick progression from light pink to strawberry to a very violent stop-light red...Just when it seemed like he'd explode, he suddenly disappeared. Nadi blinked, still not used to the idea of an invisible man. Judging from the lack of noise, she guessed that he hadn't moved. Maybe he didn't even know he had vanished.

"We can both tell you're still blushing," Nadi told him, "Invisible or not."

That seemed to catch his attention, and he slowly faded back into visibility. She had been right. He was still blushing, though not as brilliantly as before. He looked sheepishly at his feet.

Her attention turned to the girl. Somehow, she wasn't freaking out that much. Come to think of it, Nadi hadn't freaked out entirely when she first encountered him. Then again, she had just been resurrected. After surviving an otherwise lethal car crash that actually had killed her, seeing a man turn invisible wasn't that crazy either.

There was something....odd though, about this woman. Despite her previous condition, where she was literally hands and knees on the ground, here she was standing tall, as if she didn't feel a pain in the world. She had done that weird....rib thing....but still. She looked a little too comfortable. Nadi began to wonder....was it possible that this person also had an ability? Or was she just taking coincidence too far?

"So....how....damaged, I guess, were you?" Nadi decided to ask her, walking towards the living room, doing her best to avoid crashing into the man. She couldn't stay in that small hallway much longer. "When we found you, I mean? It must not have been that much, right? Since you're so healthy right now." She made a vertical gesture with her hands. "You did look like you were in a lot of pain though...." Nadi trailed off, raising an eyebrow, hoping she'd fess up about her miraculous recovery. If she did have a power, seeing this guy....whatever his name is...turn invisible should convince her to talk.

Speaking of. "What is your name, Mister?" Nadi asked, "You kinda blanked out before we could get it."

"L...Liam...." he answered, in his usual, halting way, "Liam...Banks...."

She nodded, "I'm Nadi. I don't suppose we could also get your name with your explanation?" she crossed her arms expectantly.

Lilith tried to hide the bemused smile beneath her hand as she watched the man quickly turn scarlet. Well, she hadn't meant to cause that reaction. As she opened her mouth to apologise, he simply disappeared. She blinked for a moment, mouth slightly agape as she tried to say... something. She had seen stranger things of course, met one or two people with 'gifts' before, but never a man just vanishing like that.

The teenager piped up again. "We can both tell you're still blushing. Invisible or not."
Turning to face her, looking a little surprised. So she knew about his... ability then. Did she have one too? It was possible, with all the weird things happening recently. The woman fell unusually quiet for a moment or two as she felt the other girl scrutinising her. She decided to ignore her for the moment, quelling her curiosity and instead flashing the man a small smile. "Sorry. I forget sometimes..."

"So....how....damaged, I guess, were you? When we found you, I mean? It must not have been that much, right? Since you're so healthy right now." Grey eyes followed her closely as she passed by. Lilith had never claimed to be an actress, besides, she'd never had any lasting injury since she was a kid, so how was she supposed to know how to act like? As she gestured at her with her hand, she caught sight of something uncomfortably familiar; traces of blood around the fingernails. Incredibly easy to miss, deceptively hard to remove. This raised her suspicions, but she remained silent, just watching the kid until she had finished. "You did look like you were in a lot of pain though...."
Thankfully she quickly moved her attentions back onto their host, asking his name.
"L-Liam. Liam... Banks..."

So here she was, recovering from, judging from the headache, what should have been an overdose, in the apartment of a man she had met not an hour ago, who could also turn invisible, with a teenager with some sort of attitude problem.
"I'm Nadi. I don't suppose we could also get your name with your explanation?"

What the hell. She let her arm fall with a shrug, a grin spreading across her lips. "Lilith Ross. For the record, I definitely broke some ribs, probably punctured my lung while I was at. Painful, I guess, but it could have been worse. I'd need surgery for a collapsed lung, and I metabolise anaesthetic too quickly for it to work properly. Your turn now, Nadi. How about you tell me how you got all bloodied up earlier?"

Liam

Liam's eyes flitted between the two girls. The teenager...Nadi, was her name? Strange name...maybe a nickname for Nadia? Nadine? No, the a was too round for that. Most likely Nadia. Noddy. He remembered that show. A bit odd at times, and with tons of--he hoped--unintentional innuendos. Not necessarily sexual, but....you know, never mind. More pressing matters were at hand, he told himself.

He hadn't realized he had turned invisible earlier. And...Lilith...Lilith's reaction didn't betray too much. He could have had a nosebleed and get the same reaction. He understood Nadi's suspicions, even if he wasn't entirely sure what Nadi's ability was. She must have one, though. No one could have survived that blood splatter on her forehead. And it looked too intentional for it to just be a simple slip into blood or a solid bump into a lamppost.

He listened to Lilith's explanation. It didn't take him very long at all to realize she was an accelerated healer. The fact that she was standing here, without so much as a wrinkle of pain reflecting on her face, was proof enough. His cheeks still burned from the kiss he had received. His first. His own mother didn't even kiss him.

He wondered if Nadi and Lilith had the same ability. It would certainly explain the blood. He glanced at her face. She looked a bit conflicted, as if she still wasn't sure if she could trust the other girl or not. Liam wondered about this. She trusted him pretty quickly. Even revealed that she had a power. Did it happen to you too? she had asked, when they crashed into each other. He realized this was because she had seen him turn invisible. Seen his power in action. She didn't have to guess with him. His was pretty blatant.

Finally, Nadi spoke. "So, you heal yourself?" she asked, though it was more of a statement. "Hmph. As for me, I got shot point blank from the back of my head. As you can see, I didn't die. Not permanently anyways. I also got into a car accident earlier. Should have killed me. Did for a while. But then I stood up and walked away." She paused, as if collecting her thoughts. "It's not the same as you though. I still have cuts and scrapes on my knees and such." She displayed her elbow to prove her point. Sure enough, there was a dark graze mark, along with abrasions up her arm. "I guess it only heals the lethal injuries..."

A girl who can't be wounded, a girl who can't be killed, and a guy who can't be seen, all in the same room? Looked like his coincidence theory was correct.

Lilith sat down on the arm of the couch, looking from the girl calling herself Nadi to Liam, trying to take it all in. Honestly, what were the odds of three of them running into each other on the same day, now gathered in the same apartment.
"So, you heal yourself?" She nodded with a small smile, listening to the teenager explain herself, finding herself reluctantly impressed as the girl when on. 'Just like Jack Harkness..' She thought with a small smile, but decided not to share her thoughts. She didn't want to antagonize Nadi, not yet at least.
"...And you feel completely fine? No dizziness, nausea, headaches..." Gosh, why did she sound like her dad all of a sudden? "I was so sick after my first 'death', it wasn't funny. I won't even discuss the first time I got shot..." Lilith trailed off, thinking it that maybe these two didn't really need to know about gruesome injuries...
Different, but similar abilities. The common factor being the seemingly inability to die for any length of time... Interesting.

"So do you know who was shooting at you back there?" If all three had gifts, there had to be a string chance that the attacks on them were connected. "Because someone's after me, too. I got needled in the street, sedatives I think, it's why I fell. My apartment was trashed a few days ago as well... Nothing was taken, and the cops said there was nothing to suggest it was a hate crime." She made a small gesture down at her attire before she shrugged a little.

Nadi

Nadi contemplated Lilith's questions. She eventually shook her head. "No. Maybe a headache, but it depends on how I was killed. There some pain, you know. Like, my legs still hurt from the car accident. But reviving has been pretty painless so far."

She stood by the window, comforted by the breeze that came through. Perhaps this apartment was big enough for one, but with three, it was getting crowded. Her nervous habits were starting to kick in. She tapped her fingers and bounced slightly up and down.

"I'm not sure who's following us," Nadi answered. "I mean, I was shot at by police because they thought I was a zombie, but then Liam's taxi blew up." She gestured at the quiet man. He seemed a bit surprised she mentioned him, and just nodded, a bit flustered. "Another guy got me after I took the subway," she shuddered at the memory of those close spaces, "But after that, I don't know. I know someone's following us, but I don't know why and I don't know who."

As soon as she finished her words, she felt very strange. Like someone was right behind her, or watching her. She spun around quickly in time to see the red dot aimed on her. Before she could register, she heard a "thwock!" and something stuck her in the gut. "Shit!" she exclaimed, backing away from the window. She thought she saw some letters outside the window. T? There was an N and a C in there too....

The world grew blurry. Suddenly her hands felt strange, and she looked at them. One was holding some thing thin. A dart? A heart? A Queen of farts? The world started spinning very fast, and as the ground shifted vertically, she stumbled and fell to the ground, very much incapacitated.

As soon as Nadi fell, more gunshots riddled the flimsy wall. Some were darts. Others, a bit more lethal. His first instinct was to turn invisible, but he felt guilty leaving Lilith and Nadi the only targets. Instead, he scooped up the fallen girl, and beckoned the other to follow him. They bolted out the door and down the stairs, since it seemed faster that way.

The plan worked until they got to the bottom floor. Rows of gunmen were there, and Liam had to double track. Thinking quickly, he spotted a window on the third floor, and after a couple tries, kicked it open. Now he pulled Lilith onto his back, and leaped out. He managed to land on his feet, bending almost all the way to the ground, and though the shock shook him up, he couldn't afford to stay put. He could already hear more gunshots. A helicopter was not far from them. Jesus. Who were these people? What did they want?

He thought he heard his name. A whisper of it. Was it the wind? It wasn't Lilith, and definitely not Nadi. Then who?

A rat-tat-tat of bullets interrupted his thoughts, and he sprinted away, both girls in tow. Suddenly, after passing through a tunnel, the bullets stopped following them. Or rather, they were shot in odd, random patterns, all of which missed them in particular. After a few minutes, he realized what had happened.

Somehow, he had made himself and the two others invisible.

He didn't think it was possible. It was strange enough that he could turn invisible. He could make others too? He thought back to the few comic books he had read. The Invisible Woman. What else could she do?

After what seemed like a very long minute, he came upon what looked like an enormous crater. Again, he heard his name. "...Liam Banks..." He turned his head and saw a boy about to be put into an ambulance. There were a couple others with him. Was it him? Liam didn't have any other leads. He jogged after the ambulance, and managed to climb on top before it started moving. It was quite difficult, and he nearly fell. The adrenaline was running out, he supposed. He released Lilith and continued holding Nadi, since he didn't want her to fall off. When he noticed that Lilith was slowly turning visible again, he grabbed her hand. Immediately, he blushed, but he hoped she wouldn't see.

They sat together, perched on top of the vehicle, invisible to all, following a boy that Liam had never met before, who somehow knew his name.

Lilith nodded in response to Nadi's response, frowning thoughtfully as she allowed herself to fall back onto the sofa. So they didn't know either... She lay there in silence, quietly pondering what she was going to do next. A return to her apartment would be risky at best, and if someone was after her, after them, she didn't want to risk a phone call to her father either. But even if Liam did let a total stranger crash on his couch for a night, it was by no means a solution to her problem.
The intro to 'Black Sabbath' drew her out of her thoughts, reaching into her pocket for her phone. She paled slightly as she opened the message, sitting up straight again.

'told dem everyting I no--run wile u still can'
-Chris'

A strange noise, followed by Nadi's loud exclamation made her look up split seconds before the air around them was filled bullets and... darts? She felt one or the other lightly graze her shoulder, but everything was happening so quickly that she barely noticed. She could have swore that Liam flickering in and out of sight for a moment, before Liam suddenly picked up the teenager and gestured to Lilith...There was no need; she was already on his heels as they exited the apartment. No thinking about about it.

What happened next was like it came straight out of an action blockbuster. Running, gunmen, and the only way out was out of a third floor window. Before she had time to take it their options, or lack thereof, Liam was kicking in the window, and then she was clinging onto the man of dear life as they fell to the ground, and then they were running again. More shouts, more gunshots, and was that a chopper? What on earth was happening?
Lilith didn't realize she was still holding Liam's hand until they slowed down enough for her to catch her breath, and in fact realize that his hand wasn't there at all. But neither was hers. A wave of panic crashed through her, trying to process exactly just why she wasn't there either, but she could still feel the warmth and pressure of Liam's hand against hers. Or just what had happened to the painfully shy man that had been there moments before.
Had he turned them all invisible? She wanted to ask him, to thank him for saving all of their asses... Hell, she'd kiss him again if she knew he wouldn't react in the same manner as the previous time. However, words didn't seem to want to come out of her mouth, so she remained simply remained silent for the moment.

Well, what the bloody hell had happened here? Did a bomb or something go off? Judging by the rest of today's events, it wasn't unlikely. She heard Liam's name, hers too. She stiffened slightly at the sound, glancing around to see who it was. A kid being put in an ambulance, several others hanging around nearby. A pull on her hand told her that her companion had the same idea as she, although she hadn't exactly planned on climbing on top. Her hand released, she let Liam carry Nadi, while she scrambled up on her own. A shout nearby soon alerted her to the fact that her body was re-materializing, but she was quickly saved by a hand gripping hers again.
She sighed softly, and unable to much else, squeezed Liam's hand. "Thank you." The words were spoken quietly, lest she alert anyone to their presence there. Speaking of which... Removing her cell from her pocket, she hurled it onto the street. "We should ditch our phones; they might be tracking us that way,"

Nadi

The elevator was quite large. Bees of different shapes and sizes swarmed in, and hurt her with each wing beat. Slowly, the walls began to close in, and she opened her mouth to scream...

Salt water filled it, and she found herself in the middle of the ocean. A shark was coming towards her, but it was smiling. Sharks don't smile before they attack, right? She reached out her hand towards, and found that they were covered in barnacles. She tried to pry one off...

Glitter everywhere. Was she in the rainforest? The city? She couldn't even tell. The sun turned into a disco ball, and the clouds danced to Party Rock Anthem. She joined in, and the tiled floor turned into a massive game of DDR...

She was home. She called for her mother, and found her in the kitchen. The floor turned slippery, and she couldn't get near to her. Her mother turned around, and her face had no features. She ran around the house. Her dad was the same way. A cross loomed in front of her before toppling down...

She was dying. Sliced, cut open, diced, eviscerated, 1000 ways to die and then some, a freakish ride of Final Destination, but she managed to come back to life in time for the next death. Run over, shot, blown apart, hung, decapitated, knifed in the stomach, pushed through a meat processor, compressed in a garbage truck. The pain was excruciating, but quick, and strobe lights flickered throughout....

She looked in the mirror and couldn't see herself. Then she couldn't hear herself. And then she could feel herself....

And then she was falling....

Liam

Liam had jumped off the ambulance, still holding Nadi, and quickly and quietly followed after where they had taken the boy. He managed to sneak past effortlessly, Lilith in tow. As she had done, he too had thrown away his cellphone. He was too shy to do the same with Nadi's, and just hoped it was turned off. It was already nearly too much that he was holding two different girls....he could feel himself blushing again.

Not now. He edged into the hospital, and keeping about 5 yards distance, continued after the boy. After a few short detours and an emergency bathroom break (why did he have to drink so much water??) they found the room. A girl and a boy were waiting outside, and as he approached, two more neared. They all seemed to know each other, and Liam held back. After the newly arriving guy and girl entered the room, Liam shuffled so that they could see into the room. There was a window, but he wasn't sure if the light would give him a shadow or not, so he avoided it for not.

The kid from before looked pretty young. Probably not even a teenager. Nearly all of the children (well, to him anyways) were talking amongst themselves, except for one of the girls, who seemed to be holding back. He peered intensely at the boy--named Matt, from what he gathered--and furiously wondered how he knew his name...

In the meantime, Nadi was starting to stir...

Matthew and Hunter were watching, when they heard crying from someone inside. Matthew burst in first, seeing Dr. T by a baby with two lab workers and a dead body. A dead kid. "Oh, Matthew, I....I am glad to see you. I heard about your parents. So sad. Perhaps you would like to sit down and rest?" he noted, looking at Matthew in the eyes. However, that's when Hunter noted "His heartbeat is still elevated, and jumped during certain moments. I am almost certain that means he is lying....".

Matthew used his powers and slammed Dr. T against the wall. For once, his power was working the way he wanted it to. "Now, tell me the truth....now....". "Fine, you want the truth? You mother was pregnant with a girl....". Hunter looked stunned. "As far as I can tell, he is....telling the truth...". The baby started to cry again. "Looks like your sister knows your here.....". Thats when Matthew looked Puzzled. "Wait, she couldn't have given birth, she wasn't even......" no started to comment, then remembering how she had been acting somewhat weird. "But, she couldn't have given birth already...." he noted, before turning his focus back on him. A blast of force knocked him against the wall again. "You....liar! Your trying to keep me occupied....". "Oh, but It isn't a lie. She gained a power, just like you. Forcefields. Who would have known....."

Thats when Matthew slammed him across the room, annoyed. "You have been lying to us the whole time though!, constantly spying on us!". The more complicated and confusing it got, the angrier he got. He could figure it all out of course, but it was giving him a headache. A worse then normal headache. Its like he was bombing him with things, on purposely making him angry, to his own dismay.

Thats when, from his hand, he shot some sort of red energy blast at Matthew, knocking him back, before leaving through the back door. Hunter quickly helped Matthew up, and Matthew, in a fit of rage, ran after him. Hunter followed, trying to stop him.

And at this point, Mercenaries, not T.A.N.C. however, began storming the place.

Just another fun hour in Hero Land!

Lilith had managed to find some scrubs to pull on over her clothes, hopefully to avoid suspicion if she had to release Liam, like when he decided that he needed a toilet break. Visible again, avoiding attention for now, she took the chance to check over Nadi, to make sure she was okay. She seemed to be alright, aside from being sedated, of course.
Her gut twisted uneasily as they continued onwards, following the kid from earlier.

She stood somewhat awkwardly as she watched a small group gather and exchange words for a moment or two before the small kid opened the door, and all hell broke loose. There was crying and shouting and complete chaos. Before Lilith got a chance to inquire further, gunshots rang out, and despite feeling some pressure against her skin, she glanced down as a sharper pain penetrated the lower half of her abdomen, spotting several trickles of her own blood drip onto the floor, a bloody bullet falling to the ground not too far from where she stood. She reached up to press her hand against her stomach self-consciously, despite feeling the skin and muscle knit back together beneath her fingers. She could let go of his hand, by reappearing, she could let them get away safely; undoubtedly the general source of the blood would be shot at wildly, risking both Liam and Nadi. The odds were that if they got hurt, if they got shot, she could not help them. What was it again?... one percent. One percent that either would be a match to her blood type. But on the other hand, if they knew about her power, they might continue shooting, with an even clearer idea of where the others were. But as selfish as it seemed, she also didn't want to be left alone.

Instead she moved to face Liam, and sure enough, more rounds flew through the air where she'd been standing earlier.
"I think that we should probably--"
It sounded like a scream, but it was far too loud to be human... Some sort of sonic weapon, maybe? Well, it was directed in their direction... Lilith hissed in pain as the noise threatened to blow her eardrums, but instead found herself clinging onto Liam's hand for dear life, willing him and Nadi to stay okay. She subconsciously took a small step closer, feeling what she took to be Nadi against her chest. Looking around there were no more men, no more guns and bullets flying, so they should really... "Before we get shot at again, can I ask you a personal question?" The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. "Tell me what blood type you are. If anything happens, you know, I think I might be able to help. Kind of. Maybe."
God, she hated getting flustered. But before her mouth could get any further away from her, the kid reappeared, along with another she didn't recognize. Not too far behind was another she recognized from earlier, holding a baby. She frowned with slight concern. A baby had no place here.
Matt was the kids name, judging by the concerned boy trailing after him.
Curiosity filled her again as she took a step after him, like Liam wanting to know how he knew their names.

Nadi

The sound of gunshots rattled her brain, and she murkily returned to consciousness. Her vision made everything seem like it was underwater, and she kept blinking her eyes. At one point, a bullet headed straight towards her, but when she moved to block it, she was shocked to find that she couldn't see her hand.

Nadi opened her mouth, but a scream that wasn't her own filled the air. It was painful, loud, shrill....Nadi felt like her head was going to explode. Even worse, though, was the feeling of something closing in around her. Bodies that she couldn't see were piling against her, suffocating her, smothering her. Her throat closed up and her invisible eyes widened as she began to panic. She tried to move, but her own sluggish muscles and the grip of Liam (of which she was oblivious to) made such efforts fruitless, which only fueled her growing hysteria. Her breath quickened, her body went stiff, and she was physically paralyzed, similar to the drug-induced state she was in previously, except this time her mind was more than active. Her eyes flitted back and forth, confused, disoriented, and most of all, completely terrified. She had to consciously think about breathing, and every ounce in her body wanted to burst from whatever was restraining her. She couldn't discern the bullets from each other, and certainly couldn't hear, or understand, the words Lilith was speaking to Liam. She could hardly feel the stinging pain of the bullets as they shot into her. Her mind was in full panic-mode, and the flood of sensual information provided no time or space for comprehension.

Suddenly, a calm, and Nadi found movement in her hand. She instinctively clutched desperately, if a bit retroactively, at the invisible thing holding her. Unbeknownst to her, this hold had an extra element involved....

Liam

Blood type?

Liam wasn't sure he had heard right. His ears were still ringing from the screech earlier, and the past bullets didn't make things easier. It was a miracle he hadn't gotten shot yet. He wondered if that was due in part to Nadi, and later Lilith, absorbing them. It was a wonder none went through the girls and into him, as both were quite slim....

Blood type....After piecing together the rest of Lilith's question, it seemed that was, in fact, what she was asking. He wasn't sure exactly why, but he deduced that her power could be transferred via blood, or at least some of it, namely the healing properties. It would make sense after all, since blood transfusions and---

Stop. Breathe. Answer the question.

Okay.

"AB," he spoke, "Plus. It....it isn't very....very common.....but.....but....." He never managed to finish his sentence. It seemed that Nadi had regained consciousness, since he felt her hand grab at his arm. He wouldn't have thought twice about it if he hadn't suddenly felt an odd draining sensation. By the time he realized what it might be, he could already feel the invisibility flickering, and his own breath growing shallow. Nadi was growing heavier and heavier, and it was as if his weight had doubled. Or that he had grown weaker.

Weaker....

!!

"Nadi, stop!" Liam said hoarsely. His voice sounded different from his usual quiet tone. This one had a raspy quality, and rattled. Death rattle. Was she sucking the life out of him? Could she do that? He coughed, and staggered forward. They regained visibility for a brief second, in front of the group of children they had initially been trailing. Even though he recovered, he knew the invisibility wouldn't be as strong as before. He could see the faint outline of Nadi's eyes, and Lilith's dark clothes were greying in. Coughing and wheezing, he tried to find a way to release Nadi's death hold on him without revealing her. The physical and mental strain took its toll, and they began to flash in and out, like an odd strobe-light effect, until finally, out of desperation and at the horror of briefly seeing his hand withering away, he wrenched his arm away from the girl, causing her to tumble to the floor, and himself to lose his own balance. He fell hard onto the ground, landing on his back. He was out of breath, and struggled to breathe. His body convulsed involuntarily, and his eyes were wide and slowly grew duller as white blotches seemed to invade his vision.

Was this what it was like to die?

Matthew went off towards an exit, Hunter asking him if he was okay, Alex and JOnathan were walking right behind them when they heard something. They all turned around and saw them all.

Matthew quickly pinned them all to a wall telekinetically, though not on purpose. However, it wasn't something he was going to undo. "So, I don't suppose your after us too?" However, before he could get a response, he lost all ability to move and collapsed, before blacking out.

He woke up in a room, a strange room. It was pink. And a girl's room. And there was no way out. And Jonathan was hanging from a wall, all bloody. He backed up, and saw his parents, dead, bloody, and hanging from the wall behind him. Thats when all their heads moved and asked "Why did you let us die?"

Thats when he was wearing a pink dress as well. "What the.....". "Welcome to my Nightmare Realm, you are now a prisoner. However, with that fear, the psychopathic woman had not expected him to astral project out of her realm back into his. He saw his own body, and two people standing over him. "You can't have him. T.A.N.C. wants this one for their "Special Projects". Do you know how valuable being able to see into the future?" "Why do you think my boss wants him. She was very insistant....." "We all know who your boss really is. So perhaps, instead of explaining to one of them why you failed, you join us, and let me take him." "Well too....."

All of a sudden, all of them were pinned to a wall as well, as if gravity shifted and caused this. Thats when the man, the Serial Killer from before, walked in. Notably everyone started to wake up, including him, and he was wiplashed back into his own body.

Matthew stood up and looked at him. However, a bolt of electricity knocked him back into Liam and Lilith. Hunter looked at the Serial Killer, and asked "Who the hell are you?" "The name is, hmm, lets go with Superman. Multiple power, after all. And I think its pretty funny. Now, Matthew, time to die...."

However, before he could get close to him, a man with a sword ran in, jumped and slip towards Matthew, Lilith, and Liam. Matthew saw his laptop on the counter by Jonathan, and pointed to it, as well as turning on his Phone's GPS. The man reached them, and teleported all 4 away. Matthew counted 3 seconds it took to teleport fully. He soon found themselves in the middle of an office.

Jonathan

Jonathan was in an office, a doctors office. He was just in a hallway, carrying a baby, and then all of a sudden, he was here. Thats when Dr. T came in, followed by Matthew and Alex comming in, all wearing white lab coats. They then began running tests, as Dr. T began examing Jonathan's body for any exterior changes. "Thanks again, Jonathan. Thanks for being a horrible protector and letting us take Matthew and Alex. You really helped with the plan. Did you know im becoming president? Well I am. Then, we will be unstopable. Isn't that great? And its all because of you".

However, the dream cut out there. Jonathan then saw waht unfolded in front of him, including the man with the sword teleport himself, Matthew, and two others away. Jonathan had a moment of shock. Seemingly, the Serial Killer disappeared too, as if he knew where they were going. Jonathan then returned to the shock Matthew was gone. And so was seemingly everyone else.

Including that strange woman.

"Lets all agree never to talk about those dreams...." Jonathan noted, and Hunter and Alex both agreed. "Now, someone just took my baby brother. SO they better have a damn good reason, because I am probably going to kil them either way...." he noted in a Cold, vengeful attitude thats when he noticed Nadi. "Who are you?"

Meanwhile at the Police Morgue

"No, these people are agents, they are not Mr. and Mrs. reed. I want Delta Team personally looking for them" A woman said scornfully, after seeing two bodies of her agents, the ones she had hired to take them out. T.A.N.C. was also startingto get in their way. She looked at a file, and then asked "Have you picked up my family yet as well. Not only do I want Alpha Team Prioritizing Matthew reed, I want to meet my family in my office.

The man only replied simply. "Yes, Dr. Mills"

(The plot thickens as Adrianne's Wife gets involved. Hope ya dont mind Thantos! :3 :D)

Lilith smiled as Liam gave her the answer she was looking for. Again, if they weren't invisible, tracking a kid who somehow knew their names, and crowded together in the hope that the bullets would miss... Another squeeze of the hand had to suffice for now.
However something didn't seem quite right. Standing in such close proximity to him, she could hear his breathing pattern change for the worse. His outline was becoming a little hazy, as if he was trying not to reappear again and failing to do so. Maybe keeping all three of them invisible at once for so long was being too strenuous for him. Just as she was about to release his hand, everything worsened again.

"Nadi, stop!"
It was a harsh, rasping noise that escaped his throat, that left Lilith confused. Even if the teenager was stirring, she couldn't be doing this to him... Could she? What if she had another ability? Hell, this could be her first for all that Lilith knew about her. Suddenly they were all visible again, and seeing Liam's face, she knew something was wrong. She began to panic slightly, especially when she could see his ghostly outline, and again when he started coughing and struggling to breathe. They were flickering in and out, but before she could do anything to help him,  Nadi had crashed to the floor, and his fall had dragged Lilith to her knees after him. Her eyes flicked over to the teenager for a moment, about to ask if she was alright when Liam's breathing further deterioratated, and his body started to convulse. Where where all the doctors and nurses when you needed them? Then again, what would she tell them, if they were here?

She also wanted to shout at Nadi, if he thought his sudden collapse was something to do with her, than it was fine for her. But that would not do anybody any favours, so she moved to check her male companion over instead. She tried to talk to him, but repeating his name and telling him to 'stay with her' didn't make for great conversation. They always made this kind of stuff look so easy on TV...

Ah, keep talking. For a nervous chatterer though, she wasn't doing very well though. She was secretly terrified. Her ability wasn't to 'heal' as such, it actually increased the rate of cell mitosis, allowing her body to repair injuries faster than was normally possible. If Liam's sudden illness was caused by something that might be adversely affected by an increase in cell production, the boost could kill him. Still, things didn't look too good for him now.

"Come on Liam, look at me."
It had seemed like such a good idea... They were matching types, why shouldn't she give it a go? He was still essentially a stranger, but who'd literally helped her off the streets and offered her into his home. Even if it had been shot up moments later. He'd saved not just her lifeThe conflict went on for a few moments longer, Lilith absent-mindedly rubbing his arm with her hand. A nearby trolley caught her eye, crossing over to it and rummaging around until she found a couple of sterile syringes. It was better than nothing.

Kneeling down again beside Liam, it took her a couple of goes to puncture her skin in the right place  and to draw enough blood to fill one. She'd never seen herself so shaky. She looked up just as the kid did, discreetly capping the needle and slipping it into her pocket. The less questions he asked, the better.

Before Lilith could open her mouth, she found herself pinned against the wall, unable to move. Out of the corner of her eye, she spied Liam, and she thought she could see Nadi...
"So, I don't suppose you're after us too?"
Yes, of course. That's why two of them were floored, and why she was trying to help one of them. But then again, from his view, and after everything that had happened... She found it hard to blame the poor thing. Suddenly, he just collapsed, just like that.

Feeling the pressure lessen slightly, she reached for Liam, to see if he was okay. Her hand passed through thin air. She started to panic as everyone disappeared, and she didn't recognise her surroundings any longer. No, she was in the car... driving on the wrong side? No, the drivers seat... Her heart skipped a beat. She was back in England? How? Then a chillingly familiar voice piped up beside her.
"Mum, can Rose come over for tea on Saturday?"
"Rose? Oh, Rose Middleton! Of course she can, she's a nice girl. Her father's a doctor too, right?"
Lilith turned her head slowly towards the pretty blonde girl in the seat across from her, what colour there was in her face slowly drained out again.

The conversation went like it had before; mother and daughter chatting animatedly while present Lilith sat silently dreading what was coming. Her lips were sealed shut, and she was unable to move enough to indicate her mother to stop, to watch out...

"You could have saved us, Lily." Clarissa spoke softly, sadly, but her eyes were accusing. Her voice still refused to work. "Why?" She began shouting and screaming at her then, all the while the other car was rapidly approaching.
This time, however, she was not knocked unconscious. She could feel every piece of shrapnel penetrating her body, and watched her beloved sibling die in front of her very eyes.
She needed to wake up...

Lilith struggled with returning to consciousness, but was relieved when she felt the syringe in her pocket, and found herself able to touch Liam's arm. Another had entered the room, and she took her chances. Her hands were still shaking, but this time, she didn't hesitate in injecting him. There was a flash, a crack and the kid, Matt, was thrown back against the wall, between them both. There was a small clatter as the impact forced her to drop the needle. She'd gotten most of it in, right?

Her eyes widened slightly as the man approached, threatening to kill the kid. He couldn't have even been in his teens, why did anyone want to kill a boy like him? What could she do to stop it? Before Lilith could even think of doing anything, another charged into the scene, armed with a... Sword? He was running towards them, and then, they weren't in the hospital anymore.

Lying there on the floor, Lilith stayed silent for a few moments longer, before she touched Liam softly.  "Are you okay?"
