Steadfast, and extremely intelligent, Sergeant Gage is described as a well liked, charismatic individual who is capable of working closely with team members to achieve a common goal, with a natural leader instinct, as well as extensive training, and college education, Sergeant Gage is an excellent asset to have in any situation.

Equipment

Clothing: Carrying out routine security duties aboard the Profound Solitude when it was destroyed, Sergeant Gage is currently equipped with his standard issue black BDUs, a black lightweight synthetic undershirt that provides optimum comfort by wicking away moisture from the body, black standard issue combat boots, and standard Type 3a Personal Protective Armor, consisting of lightweight aramid fibers wrapped around a flexible carbon nanomesh plate, which provides excellent ballistic protection, and moderate slash resistance, but otherwise performs poorly against small projectile such as darts, or arrows.

Background/History

Born to a middle class family in a small farming settlement, Cameron started out as a simple farm-boy with big dreams ahead. Though the town of Cefalù offered very little in the form of opportunities. Right out of engineering school, the Imperial Navy recruiters came knocking.

Offering big salaries and the opportunity to travel the known galaxy, Cam took the bait hook line, and sinker, and enlisted in the prestigious Imperial Aschen Navy, a veteran of the Terran Conflict, and GWI (Galactic War I), he rose quickly through the ranks before being assigned aboard the Reverence II class Planetary Assault Carrier 'Profound Solitude'

The ill fated ship was ambushed by Coalition ships on a patrol run, and has since been lost.

Training

Basic Marine Training - Cameron has recieved extensive training on basic hand to hand combat, military drill, tactical situations, basic wilderness survival, first aid, star charting, astrometrics, marksmanship, as well as handling both Aschen energy weapons, and basic knife fighting techniques.

Enhanced CQC Training - Cameron, as part of his role as a team leader has recieved training on advanced close-quarters combat techniques, breaching, room clearing, and basic strategies in urban combat.

SERE Training - Cameron has received extensive training on wilderness survival, woodcraft, improvised tools, trapping, animal processing, improvised explosives, basic metal craft, navigation, astrometrics, wilderness evasion, firecraft, traps and snares, evasion, and camouflage.

This training was conducted with both live, and classroom exercises in the Imperial Military Training Center, in the rugged wilderness of Arvesk, Tal'dor, which is known for it's extreme climate, and rugged terrain.

Engineering - Prior to joining the Navy, Cameron was an engineer, and was an avid black powder enthusiast. His college education grants him basic chemistry skills, engineering skills, as well as advanced communication skills.

So begins...

All hands brace for impact!

That was the only warning to the abrupt jerk as the ship rocked violently from the impact of a massive projectile, shields were down, and the already embattled armor did little to keep the slug from tearing through the vessel's hull.

Cameron felt the rush of air through the corridor, which was only added to the cacophony of people shouting all around him, and the audible klaxon of the ship's alarm system. He knew the hull breach was dangerously close. Another impact knocked him from his feet, and he grunted upon hitting the floor. Sparks showered down from a nearby conduit with a loud pop, the lights flickered, and the calm voice of the ship's commander rang clear through the hallway.

"This is the Commander, all hands abandon ship!"

when the announcement came over the ship's intercom; Cam had to make a split second decision. The air kept rushing, and the massive vessel was starting to lose power, and artificial gravity, getting to his feet Cam ran, he ran like his life depended on it. Labored breaths filled his lungs as his chest heaved for what little oxygen was left, he was near an escape pod, and decided to make a split second escape.

In an instant he grabbed the emergency survival pack and jumped into the pod, which was little more than the size of a large van. Reaching up he secured the emergency pack and pulled the lever, the metal door slammed shut and his restraints tightened. There was a loud clunk and the pod lurched, careening down its launch tube, everything went silent as it cleared the ship. Three Coalition ships pummeled the lone Reverence, and someone got a lucky shot as a blinding flash engulfed the ship, the reactor had gone, and it culminated in an explosion so bright, it would appear as a second sun to those on the planet below.

---

Five long minutes, Cam watched the explosion dissipate in horror, the ships jumped away leaving the lone survivor stranded in uncharted space. The pod began to shake, it was hitting atmosphere, the air brakes soon deployed, but everything was engulfed in fire. A shooting star in daylight sky. The parachute deployed, along with a bright orange cushion under the conical escape pod, but Cameron's world went dark, after striking his head on the restraint bar. The still smoking pod came to rest in a clearing just outside what seemed to be a settlement of some kind.

Slowly, he came to, his eyes opened up and he took in the surroundings. Silence, the pod had come to a stop, the safeties deployed and he seemed to be in one piece.

Checking the readings a moment, the atmosphere outside was breathable, this was good news. With one hand, he pulled the release, and the restraints came loose, retracting up into the seat.

He groaned, and rubbed his head before moving to grasp a lever that was supposed to release the hatch, the lever clicked, and the hatch opened up, letting a swift, cool breeze into the pod, and allowing Cam to survey the strange, alien landscape around him.

He threw his rucksack over his back, and adjusted his BDU shirt to better fit, and his combat vest to better bear the load of the backpack. He checked his Disruptor pistol and the small bandoleer of ten fusion cells.

"Welp, looks like first thing's first, source food, and clean water." He said to himself. "And figure out exactly where in Tartarus I'm at... but that will have to wait until night, so I can chart the stars."

Grass, and gravel crunched under his feet as he stepped down, and he looked up at the bright sun, wincing at the blinding light.

EIANNA|YALA|TREVOR
Hordes of people begin to exit the tavern as what looks like a falling star crashes into the plains on the outskirts of the city. Roughly two miles from the outer walls. People begin to gather on the streets, some fearfully lock their doors and hide away in their homes, others curiously start heading towards the eastern gate toward where the light seemed to land. A few dozen soldiers in plated chainmail pass by the tavern in formation and start clearing a path through the crowd.

CAMERON GAGE
Cameron examines the land and is easily able to find all manner of plant life, not far from where you crashed are handful of scattered bushes with deep red colored berries that luckily escaped the fire of your crash. A dozen burned oak trees tower over the crash site, slowly smoldering into ashes. To the north, south and east is more open wilderness... but to the west you can see the faint glint of what looks like sunlight on metal. Just a few hundred yards away. The foliage is too thick for you to see the city, but you get the strange feeling that you may not be the only intelligent life on this planet. It could be the strange chill in the air, or the howl of the steady rain, or perhaps the broken slingshot you just stepped on.

Eianna watches the chaos begin to spread from the moment Yala arrived. This was part of why she'd arrived early. Oh, the opportunity to make herself clean and presentable in warm water, with access to as many fragment soaps as she could wish was certainly part of it, but Yala always made quite and entrance- and at her height, people tended to notice. So the Sylven is perfectly content to wait, both long fingered hands wrapped around her mug of ale until it became clear that she was likely to be the giantess' next target. Only then did she set her drink aside and scoot quickly to one side to allow the grab to pull her around the table rather than over or through it- neither of which sounded like as enjoyable an option for her as it might have been for Yala.

She manages to twist herself just enough to keep Yala from completely smothering her in the course of embrace, and manages to return it to some degree while saying "Well met, Yala! Are you well?" The question is as much a prompt for the other woman to let her go as it is a reflection of her honest concern for the wellbeing of her companion. After all- as formidable as the warrior was, the world seemed to darken with each passing day, and if they didn't look out for one another, who would?

Sinking back into her seat, Eianna smiles warmly at Trevor despite his seemingly gruff introduction. "I'm not that surprised. The amount of trouble we riled up, I wasn't sure I'd see you this side of the century..."

Whatever pleasantries might have been about to follow, however, are silenced as the tavern door slams against the wall (itself not an uncommon occurrence) followed by a panicked shout and a sudden movement of people. Eianna finds her feet quickly, glancing to her companions in askance; "Did he say a falling star?" She doesn't wait for the answer, however, and instead turns her fleetness of foot to her advantage, dodging and weaving her way through the crowd and out of the door with relative ease... only to slow to a stunned halt as her gaze travels up, tracking the line of smoke that hung, still visible in the clear air above them. She's aware of the squawk and yell of panicked townsfolk around her- most scuttling towards their homes or ducking inside like burrowing creatures, but she tunes it out and instead turns on her heel and looks back towards her companions. "Trev! Yala! Come on. We've got to go!" she swivels slightly, mentally placing herself within the landscape around her, tracking the dissipating smoke trail from its appearance down towards its probable landing. "It headed towards the stag-circle. I don't think its far! Lets go!"

Giving out a laugh which could sunder mountains Yala practically dragged the Sylvan up and across the table. Luckily Eianna's excellent foresight made it so that the mugs didn't get tipped over by her. Yet again, Eiannna had quite excellently kept her from being killed by the show of affection. Finally, holding her by her shoulders Yala sets her back down into seat, gazing out across the people before once again locking onto Trevor, only just barely able to contain herself thanks to his rather cold retort, yet it seemingly had no effect on her other than to keep her from attempting the same show with him.

She nodded, apparently attempting to follow with them, before in just a second sweeping her one arm across the table infront her, sweeping up one of the comically small mugs, pouring it down her throat and then setting it down again. Rather impressive for anyone not having witnessed her antics before. Switching her gaze between the two, rather pleased with the fact that the two of them remembered her name. "I'm always good ranger! You should know that." Offering a grin at her own comment, sure, things are getting harder, but it's not hard enough, yet.

It was a rather blissful moment, it'd take something pretty major for something to interrupt the moment. A fallen star sounds pretty spot on. She was directly behind Eianna, following her out. The elf gave the people infornt of them a few elbows, followed by Yala then pushing them straight down onto their asses, she fell behind a little. She didn't want to get so tactless as in order to break straight through the crowd outside. Finally, flinging the last man to the side she lowered herself to Eianna's height, raising an amused eyebrow at her "You're the ranger! This does after all seem damn fun, lead away!" Patting her atop her back, again, this motion which was casual and friendly by Yala was considerably more rough on the recieving side.

She did ask the woman to lead, yet Yala caught herself rather briskly walking towards the strange light illuminating the distance, a smile atop her lips and star-crossed eyes, she really hoped there'd be something big to smack there."Hurry it up also! You're quick on your tiny feet, show it! We need to get there before the others take all the scraps!"

Cam spent the better part of ten minutes trying to survey his surroundings, most of it appeared to be open wilderness, or forestry, but the faint glint of metal caught his attention, a settlement of some kind perhaps.

Gritting his teeth, he looked back to the pod, and then swiftly turned his head in the direction of the settlement. This wasn't good in his mind, it appeared it wouldn't be long before the locals showed up, whether they were hostile, or passive, was to be seen, but Cameron had to make himself disappear, before he was caught off guard by whoever, or whatever was bound to investigate.

The steady rain was slowly starting to saturate the ground, and Cam's footsteps made a heavy sloshing sound as the charred dirt and ash below him turned to mud. He had pulled everything out of the pod that he could, but there was still computer instruments inside, as well as a distress pulser, emergency flares, and an emergency crash axe.

Cameron noted the axe, but considering he had to make himself scarce, he would return for the emergency supplies in time.

Turning his attention to the oak tree, the knurled trunk provided the perfect climbing opportunity. Swiftly slinging his rifle over his back, he started towards the tree, grabbing whatever he could to scale the trunk, hoping to gain a better vantage point.

Water soaked his uniform, and made his grip uneasy, but perseverance propelled him to the top of the large oak tree, granting him a better vantage of the surrounding wilderness, and an excellent vantage over the crash site.

Securing himself against the main trunk, he surveyed; this new world would present a challenge he thought.

EIANNA|YALA|TREVOR
The crowd slowly began to thin as the imperial soldiers neared the eastern gate. "Everyone please find your way home, we promise there is nothing to fear!" Most of them awkwardly found some place indoors to crash, but a few still waited about outside. As you pass some of the citizens you hear them gossiping to each other. "Oh thats the 2nd star that fell this week!" "Perhaps lady night has abandoned us like the other gods?!" More soldiers arrive at the gate, at least thirty now, stopping everyone from leaving the city. "We promise we will look in the matter. But for now we urge you to return to your homes." With that the massive gate opened and from around the street corner, a half dozen knights on horseback exit the city towards the source of the massive pillar of smoke that now reached the clouds. However they don't seem to be clad in the typical fashion of a knight. These knights are... different. Clothed in black and grey robes with full plate armor, crossbows and what looks like sheathed long swords.

CAMERON GAGE
You are able to climb the tree easy enough. As you climb higher in the tree you are eventually able to see over the canopy, to your west is a massive walled city, at least two miles away from whats looks to be the main gateway. You can barely make out the redish/black flags... as well as what seems to be six horseman clad in bright silver armor and dark robes. It doesn't take long for them to reach the crash site. The six horseman circle the crater and one of them, who looks like a young man, no more then twenty years old speaks out loud. "This is exactly like the star that fell yesterday!", an older more grisly looking knight gazed angrily at the wreckage. "If it is anything like the other one, we need to hunt down and kill the... thing... before it reaches civilization. We cant allow that kind of slaughter again." The other knights went quite for a moment, then the same grey haired knight spoke again. "Fan out! The creature cant have gone far!"

Cameron sat silently atop his oaken perch, watching intently as the men on horseback made their way to the small pod. His eyes watched them, their movements, their hands, their demeanor, assessing the level of training they might have, but also their clothing.

The natives on this world were primitive, this was both a boon and unfortunate, his weapons could overpower the natives, assuming they didn't have magic.

He grit his teeth slightly.

Where there were primitives such as these, there was almost always magic, that was the rule of thumb taught in basic training.

Usually this wouldn't be a problem, as the Aschen Empire had long since developed countermeasures to negate and prevent the use of magical energies, but in this situation, Cameron didn't have such technologies at his disposal, and would have to rely on his wit, and his training.

They mentioned a second star, this made his brows furrow as he thought for a moment.

"Another escape pod? It couldn't have been, we weren't tracking any other ships in the area..."

His gut wrenched, whoever these people were, they were hostile, which was the worst case scenario in a survival situation.

He reached back and silently eased his weapon forward, laying down prone on a thick branch, and controlling his breathing, they were fanning out, which meant he hadn't been noticed... yet.

Eianna isn't surprised to find Yala right on her tail as she stepped out of the tavern, but she nevertheless felt the thrill of excitement at facing the unknown with others at her shoulder. It wasn't that she was particularly prone to loneliness as far as it went, but there was a certain amount of cautious pessimism that was required for survival in the wild- particularly now. Together, however, they'd started (and ended) brawls, and faced creatures only the Trevor had known the name for... and each time they'd survived. The proposition of having the giantess by her side (or, in this case, several strides ahead) and Trevor at her back turned this falling star from an omen of dread to a rush of the unknown.

It seems to be pure misfortune that the guards have a moment to assemble themselves before the group had a chance to step out of the gate. Even from a distance Eianna can see them beginning to mass- and hearing the whispers and fear of those obediently flowing back to their homes it seemed clear enough that this was an agreed-upon course of action after whatever had occurred yesterday. Which meant that simply asking nicely wouldn't cut it.

But then, this wasn't the first time they'd been met with well meaning opposition. Eianna smothered a smile and whistled a single high pitch from between her teeth- one aimed at getting Yala's attention before she ploughed into the guards and started something more troublesome yet. Glancing behind her to Trevor, Eianna mouths only 'Apologies' before glancing back towards the giantess. "Remember Blackmouth?" the words are mouthed, and she waits for a nod of realisation before taking a deep breath, and beginning her act.

The first step was to roll her shoulders awkwardly- enough to unbalance the quiver she'd thoughtlessly collected on her way out of the tavern, leaving it seemingly half in danger of falling. The next was to break into an uneasy run.... and shriek. There are words, but they seem lilting even in their distress; Sylven.

"No! Did you see it? That's my home, my home! I have to go! Let me out- let me OUT! No, you have to... its the forest- my people- I'm an elf you fool, I have to go! Gods please, please!" Eianna's comment about her race is accentuated by her ripping the thick ribbon from her hair that held it back, and provided some semblance of subtlety about her race. She switches to broken, hysterical common then, and continues her pleas- throwing herself weeping into Yala's arms almost as soon as the giantess arrives.

It wasn't a sophisticated gambit- but it had worked in the past... and the elves were, after all, gifted in the arts- though it was usually more high minded than focused on improvised hysterics... but Eianna would leverage every skill she had when the moment required it. And besides, who could resist a hysterical elf who seemed to have only the faintest grasp of common, the looming Yala at her side, or Trevor whose gravitas was often the key to selling the whole damned deal...

Well, hopefully not these guards.

The Half orc, now stood at the gate whom had been enjoying merriments and drinks with the two noisy dwarves, if he wasn’t sober he certainly was knocked back into his senses, the large half-orc watched the falling light but didn’t stay long to watch it collide with the earth beyond the walls, he made his way through the crowd and once able enough to get into a running speed, race back to his smithy to fetch his equipment, he wasn’t going to let this opportunity for a new forge material to escape him, nor was he going to let the local guard go it alone.

He donned his armour quickly, and tightened his gauntlets up, he sheathed the sword and made his way back out, a pickaxe for mining hung from a sling of leather off his back and a empty sack for carrying material back hung over his shoulder.

Returning to the sound of Sylvan and broken common hysterics from an elf, he watched the imperial guards closely, he stepped forward, hoping really the imperial guards allowed an lowly part-time watchman to investigate.

“I enquire why so many of the guard are needed for this?” Tsarrack stood just a couple inches taller than Yala, clad in a patchwork of studded leather armour a breastplate and other light but protective pieces, apart from the spiked knuckles gauntlets he wore, his skin a dirty tanned green and his eyes ruddy red and dull looking, his physical build was nothing to scoff at either, the half-orc no thanks to his ancestry was two hundred and fifty pounds of muscle. he set his sheathed blade down the tip of the blade sitting between two stones of the cobbled road, he’d lean onto it and raise an eyebrow, looking to the grey and black clad knights riding out.

“and who the heck are those guys?” he leaned back and threw an arm out towards them, “if those sods are allowed to leave than why can’t experienced warriors?” now he was just gonna get himself in trouble with that comment.

How far can i push my luck? the thought run through his head, he shifted his weight and lifted the sword up gripping its hilt and bringing it up to rest on his shoulder. He glanced to the trio who had gathered in the tavern whilst he was going to get shitfaced with the two dwarves until something exciting happened. He did however take a few steps back giving himself and the guards some personal space.

Yala was not enjoying her current situation, most of it thanks to one single notion. She did indeed remember Blackwatch, one would think, thanks to her rather savage looks, one of an outsider and warrior, someone who rarely opens up and stays within her hardened attitude, rather this wasn't Yala at all, she could lie, play and follow the charismatic card way more than one would think. Letting a sudden panicked expression flood her face, eyes darting between the elf and the soldiers. An practically adorable amount of helplessness displayed in her eyes.

"Warriors, soldiers! Help me, our elf, the mistress cannot remain any longer! I need to bring her to the forest, quickly! You must let me pass, she'll not last! Practically flinging Eianna with her while talking, throwing herself into the giantess arms certainly gave her some freedom, and she used it. It had barely taken a second before she had sweeped the Sylvan off her feet, shaking her desperatly like a doll towards the Guards. "I'll.. Not let you stop me!" It almost seemed as if she was about to burst into tears, a sight which none of her previous party members had ever gotten close to seeing, the ones who knew her would certainly think it strange for the sudden immensely strong acting, in truth, Yala practically convinced herself that her words were true. Taking a step towards the guards, taking a rather determinated gaze over the gate. A gaze who could make any man feel like shrinking down into his own boots.

"Let us out, now, she'll not survive anymore! Quickly! Accompanying it all, was the warrior's the booming voice, every single guard present could undoubtedly hear her, those in the tavern too, practically anyone near, especially now that she was in such poetic spirit, her pure devotion to the role was rather admirable.

Yet behind it was that one notion, she really didn't like playing like this, if the guards weren't gonna budge for her then she'd without a shred of hesitation storm through them, Eianna flinged over her shoulder and Trevor hopefully figuring something out, per usual. Her past comrades should definitely know that.

EIANNA|YALA|TREVOR|TSARRACK
Its been less then ten minutes since the star fell and already the city guard seems overwhelmed. The antics pulled by Eianna and Yala seemed to have grabbed their attention. One older dwarven guard with a long black beard ushered both of them out quickly. "Fine! Fine! Get out of here with your racket, your gonna cause a panic!" Tsarrack barely managed to squeeze past the guards, staying close behind the two strangers as if he was part of their group. Several other guards attempted to block Trevor, but upon hearing the proud words of the cleric, they hesitated and looked among each other as if questioning if he was truly a cleric or not. It almost seemed as if they wouldn't allow him to pass, but luckily one of them noticed the holy seal of Tash around his neck. "Sure whatever... god lover. Leave, do what you gotta do." Finally all of you had exited the eastern gate. Straight ahead was a gravel path that lead out into the great wilderness of Vespar. Only a couple miles away you could easily see the smoke ascending unto the clouds. However the three friends notice the strange half orc that had somehow weaseled their way through the gate with you. You recognize him as the same half orc from the tavern.

CAMERON GAGE
As the six darkened knights spread out, they don't wander far. The older knight pulls out what seems to be a glowing emerald sigil that appears to glow brighter the closer he gets to the tree you are hiding in. Before long all six knights on horseback have circled the tree and collectively look up at the strange space man standing on an oaken branch. "We know your their and we know what you are... Aschen Man." Five of the knights pull out what looks to be cross bows aimed directly towards you. The older knight who you assume is the leader of this group unsheathes his sword. But this is no ordinary sword. The blade itself is pitch black and an intense aura of elemental darkness seems to emanate from it. The air quickly becomes bitter cold and what looks like an icy frost begins to consume the bottom of the tree, slowly climbing up into the branches. The knight makes an evil sadistic grin and calls out to Cameron. "Surrender now and I promise your death will be quick!"

It appeared camouflage wouldn't quite cut it, once the sigil came out, and they started to approach his tree he had to make a choice.

They had him outnumbered six to one, and it seemed five of them were packing what seemed like crossbows. Gage silently ran the numbers in his head. He held the advantage in that the twenty-five charge magazine in his disruptor rifle could eliminate them before they had a chance to reload their crossbows, but that would mean he'd have to provoke them all into firing.

"We know your their and we know what you are... Aschen Man."

The mention seemed to pique his attention, and he slowly crept up, running his thumb across a small switch on the side of his rifle, a shrill, and audible electronic whine followed.

Cameron kept his movements slow, and deliberate, the crossbowmen hadn't fired, which meant they either intended to let the leader kill him, or they intended to take him prisoner. They had also asked him to surrender, either this was an arrogant taunt on their part, or they were unsure of his capabilities and hoping to intimidate him into surrendering.

"If you know what I am then you know I am not a threat." Cameron said slowly. He was looking at their positioning, their eyes were on him, which meant the muzzle-flash from his weapon would hopefully temporarily blind them, if he had to use it.

"And you also know that my people would not look kindly on this, if they found out you killed me without mercy, they would not think twice about burning this world. They would sit in the heavens far from your reach in ships, and burn this place with weapons more powerful than you can imagine. Even your magic would not stop them." Cameron pleaded, while still running tactical scenarios in his head.

"Please, I am worth far more to you alive, then dead." Cameron called out.

He felt the air chill, the sword had come out watched the ice start climbing the tree, they weren't buying it, and he had to defend himself.

He opened fire at the older knight that drew the sword, the Disruptor rifle first pulled the charge from the fusion cell contained within, this charge went immediately to the primary capacitor, and the thermopole energizer. Charged particles were fired out from the thermopole energizer, and compressed along the series of magnetic coils.

In an instant, the weapon fired, and barked it's deafening report, which sounded like a loud 'crack.' Excess plasma and free particles had to be vented somewhere, and that was a brilliant dispersion cone at the muzzle of the weapon, which culminated into a blinding green flash, enough to cause temporary blindness to those who were staring directly at Cameron, and the deafening report was likely to spook the horses they were on, adding to the chaos that was to unfold.

The shot was aimed directly at the knight who drew the sword, thus the brilliant green bolt of light seared towards him, and considering the reasonable accuracy of the Type 53, it was likely to strike.

Immediately after firing on the first knight, Cam dove from the branch, landing a few feet behind the older knight, within the plume of smoke from his first shot. He tucked neatly into a combat roll, moving quickly to acquire the two knights with the crossbows in front of him, assuming they weren't knocked from their horses after the first shot.

Inwardly hoping they were still flash-blinded, he fired two more times, a one-two punch at the first knight, and then the second.

Pop, Pop-pop, pop-pop. These noises echoed through the countryside, and could easily be heard a couple miles away.

Brilliant flashes of green, and the deafening crack hopefully bought Cameron the briefest of moments, taking off into a full run, he turned, holding the rifle back behind him with one hand, and firing multiple shots back at the remaining three knights, aiming to force them into cover.

Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop, pop-pop, pop-pop-pop, echoed again through the countryside, and then silence.

After several seconds, and a successful execution of his tactical plan, he reached the pod, and quickly dove behind it for cover, catching his breath for a split second, and checking the display, which read 10/25. He had burned through over half of this fusion cell. He grit his teeth, and readied himself to engage the Knights again.

---

An impact from a disruptor bolt is extremely lethal, the flesh immediately around the impact site is flash-vaporized, with fourth degree burns down to the bone. The sudden expansion of bodily fluids from the heat exposure causes ruptures in body cavities, which causes further cavitation and systemic damage in the body, as well as hydrostatic shock.

The sudden thermal expansion from impact is also sufficient to knock most human sized targets down.

Most armors are also useless, as the intense heat of the bolt liquefied most metals upon impact, even those with a high melting point. Reports of soldiers on the field with their armor plates fused to the flesh were common when facing Aschen energy weapons.

Eianna continues to wail as Yala joins in the facade, a feat that is made significantly more challenging as she is shaken quite so enthusiastically by her companion. She makes a mental note to herself to remind the giantess at some future juncture that not everyone is quite as hardy as she, though in truth, it barely matters as the ruse proves to be more successful than she could have hoped and soon enough they're on the other side of the damned gate, and all thirty of its guards. The ranger waits just long enough to make sure that they're at least somewhat out of sight of those behind them before extracting herself from Yala's grip, pausing just long enough to pat her shoulder companionably "Your skills at deception continue to improve. That was very good," before jumping free.

The moment that the elf's feet touch the ground, however, her expression becomes one of focus as her eyes track what remains of the smoke trail to determine the location of the falling star, and with a glance at Trevor- and a questioning, but at least for the moment unconcerned look towards the Half-Orc- she breaks into a jog, then into a run, dashing towards the distant treeline. Something about those knights left a foul taste in her mouth, an ill omen that might have been nothing... but in these last years she'd learned to trust her gut more than her intellect at times, and it didn't feel like nothing.

As her stride eats up the ground between herself and that target, she turns over both what she'd seen of the event, and what she'd seen of the knights in an attempt to puzzle out her unease. She'd heard the villagers murmur about a similar falling star yesterday. That was a curiosity, and a concern: for a single star to fall from the sky was an odd occurrence, two in as many days suggested something more concerning... or, given the recent turn of the land, perhaps sinister... The second thing that bothered her was the swift response of the knights- they'd ridden out in full plate in the same time it had taken herself, Yala and Trevor to get to the gate... so were they waiting? Did they know this would happen? Was this no star, but something summoned by unknown magic? She puts a pin in the last thought and vows to ask Trevor the moment that she has the opportunity, after all that level of power, used to such a specific end and followed up by unknown military force... it didn't bode well. It's enough to make her expression grim, and to fix her eyes steadfastly on her destination, straining for any sign of movement or interference even as she runs.

What she wasn't expecting, and couldn't explain, was the sudden cracks that echo around her as she runs- enough to cause Eianna to throw a look over her shoulder towards her companions as they sprint forwards. What magic could make a sound like that? After all, a glance towards the sky reaffirms that this is no storm, there is no crack of lightening... so what kind of mage battle were they about to sprint into? And should they? What in all the realms was happening up ahead?

Luck was on his side, or so the half-orc thought, he listened to the elf’s comment towards her companion and chuckled quietly to himself, he was already walking ahead of the group when he noted the elf jogging and then sprinting past, and then the rest of the group following. Tsarrack would let out a sigh and begin jogging after them, going for the long haul instead of tiring himself out by sprinting all the way there.

He thought back to previous days, working in his smithy and being approached by a knight clad in dark shades asking for a blade be repaired and armour, he hadn’t ask how or why the equipment was in the state it was but now he wondered if it’d been a good idea to do so, certainly not… he let out a brief sigh and seeing the group grow further ahead.

“I wonder where they’re going” he didn’t note any pickaxes on any of the trio, though they could be going to chat with the knights, who knew, not his business, sticking one’s nose into other people’s business got it cut off, so he figured it’d be better to not ask.

He picked up his pace following about one hundred foot behind the rear most person of the group, the pickaxe and other odds and ends bouncing in their slings on his belt and from his back, a few small tools and knives arrayed on leather loops, the oddest of the collection was one of his forge hammers, though with its size and weight, it doubled as a pretty decent throwing hammer.

The sudden sounds of cracks from beyond the treeline stunned the half orc for the briefest of moments, however he burst back into full speed, something was happening and he needed to get there as quickly as he possibly could, his previous motive of mining the meteorite gone and replaced.

Cameron attempts a dive out of the tree, a volley of arrows skims past the marine, each arrow bursting into neon green flame upon impact. He succeeds in a graceful barrel role, landing just a few yards behind the elder knight. However a pain unlike anything he had ever felt before consumed his left leg. A brief glance reveals a single arrow piercing his thigh. Veins around the wound turn green as the flames of the arrow seep into the wound. You look up at the knights, it seems one of your shots blasted straight through the heart of one of the other knights on the opposite side of the tree as they fall from the horse to the ground you notice another knight holding his left arm which is gushing blood. However that doesn't stop the other knights, each jumping off their horse and beginning to circle you as you kneel, struggling to stand. The elder knight easily kicks your gun away while your distracted and another knight drop kicks you into the muddy ground. Three of their crossbows now reloaded and aimed at your head, chest and back. As you begin to rethink your terrible decision of taking on these knights alone, you feel a muscular fist grab you by the hair and lift you up, your feet hanging in the air. The elder knight removes his hood and makes eye contact with the marine."Now that was a mistake Aschen Man. It doesn't matter how strong you think you are, our gods are stronger. Ahahah." The man knees Cameron in the gut and then headbutts him to the ground again. The curse from the arrow rapidly spreading, forcing Cam to dip ever further unto the edge of unconsciousness. "You see, I know what you are and what you can do... Because I have killed many of your kind before I was sent to this hell hole of a world." The man takes his shadowy blade and moves it inches from Cameron's throat. "It wont be long before our god Havok comes to collect you. He enjoys alien souls..."

MEANWHILE
Eianna, Yala, Trevor & Tsarrack finally reach the edge of the crash site. You see the four knights surrounding what looks to be an ordinary human. Bloody and badly beaten. Several yards away is what appears to be another knights holding his bloody arm and weeping over a corpse.

Seeing the human on the ground bloodied and beaten, there was no hesitation, dropping the leather carry strip attached to the pickaxe and sack, he charged forward, enraging with an animalistic bloody howl, drawing forth his blade as he charged forward, taking the group of knights by surprise and while they were flat-footed he’d barge past two attempting to knock them down with his immense size and bulk bringing his blade Unthrupros in a arc towards the knight whom held his blade towards the downed strangely dressed human.

If the brutish broadsword struck, it would bury deep into the knight’s neck and chest, wounding the man mortally and risk taking the elder man’s head clean off, as for Tsarrack, his eyes crimson as the veins darken, his grip strangling the hilt of his blade, whiting his dark muddy knuckles, keeping his momentum going he twists his body to shove his shoulder into the knight and launch him away, leaving the enraged half-orc to stand over, defending the wounded stranger.

“YOU DARE TAKE ON A SOLE MAN, YOU ARE NO KNIGHTS; BUT JUST COMMON THUGS, I SHALL TEAR YOU LIMB FROM LIMB!” his motions quickened by his rage, and he looked across the other knights, waiting for them to draw swords and charge into bloody combat. His single goal right now to defend the man they seemed intent on slaying.

Yala's expression had steadily shifted from her previous desperate one to a grin, then from that down to a steadfast, resolute smirk. It had taken a few sheepish blinks as they pushed past the strangely high amount of soldiers, wildy shaking her elven friend while at it. Finally reaching the ominous forest. Raising an eyebrow towards Eianna while setting her down, nodding to herself while doing so. "Good, now in the forest you'll start feeling better, stronger!" She straightened her back at the last word, she had seemingly really convinced herself. Although, Yala had always had something to her, she was a brute and a savage, as people seemed so fond of calling her, reasoning was perhaps not her strongest point, but intuition was. She had a shrill feeling run down her spine, blood was approaching, as to be expected, thusly, she kept almost equal steps with the ranger, the difference in height certainly making up for the difference in agility.

The strange, small explosions sounding in the distance removed the last of her smirk, she was "getting into the zone" so to say. Her past comrades might've forgot about it, but it was something common for her. Blood would be shed, and Yala was more than ready to answer that call. They practically flew through the shrubbery, Yala quickly lost sight of Trevor, the orc which she had just now noticed seemed to follow through with them. When they finally broke through Yala raised her gaze at the group of people, then back down at the ranger before her, she took a step to the side, placing a defensive hand atop her Sylvan friend. Watching the scene, noting the different details. There was a moment of hesitation in her, rapidly looking between the different people there.

It didn't last long, suddenly, their rather big tag along rushed past, screaming his lungs sore. Yala threw him a sheepish, almost flustered look. Blinking at him a couple of times and then back down at Eianna, letting a second pass, she suddenly smiled. Giving a short nod and patting her. Rushing straight past her after the orc, there was no loud cry, but rather a loud stomping, her stance was seemingly different, every step had a weight behind it, kicking up earth behind her. The axe suddenly gleaming having been brought onto her shoulder. There was one, rather basic thought on her mind. She was gonna hit harder than the orc.

It was the nearest man, to the side of the injured stranger and one of the ones with another one directly infront of him, admittedly the Orc had already dealt the first blow, the knight had but a fraction of time to respond, but to differentiate from the other, he could respond. It was a golf swing, aiming to strike the knight directly in the hip and send him flying, attempting to fling him up above the strange injured man and into the one on the other side.

"Wait. Be cautious. Don't rush. Do let's stop for tea." Trevor spoke out the feigned cautions barely louder than polite conversation as he walked. The cracks they had heard certain had peeked his interest, and his caution, but he did not pretend to think he could stop this group from rushing to the battle.

He once again found himself trailing the party, never having been one to rush, much less towards a fight. Oh he could be quick when he wanted to be, deceptively so, he simply chose not to be more often than not.

So Trevor was the last to arrive to the engagement, and took an instant dislike to the knights he saw there. Something about them put him off ease, to say nothing of the man lying in their midst. He could tell the strangely dressed man was injured, possibly poisoned, though tending to him would be difficult until the knights were dealt with. "What puzzle have you brought me to?" he wondered aloud to Tash.

The half Orc had rushed headlong into their midst crying out his challenge, followed shortly after by Yala who preferred to let her axe do any talking. He felt mostly confident that between the two of them the four knights would be overmatched, but there was still a sense of unease in his stomach. So he slipped the hood of his robe over his head and muttered an incantation to camouflage into the surroundings.

If his confidence in his companions abilities was found to be misplaced he would present their opponents with a most unexpected surprise.

Eianna wasn't surprised to find Yala still at her shoulder as she raced forward- they'd explored enough together for the elf to expect the giantess to be at her shoulder more often than not, and Trevor to bring up the rear; a powerful though often unseen ally. It had worked well for them in the past, and looked to be falling into that same rhythm again as they took the handful of seconds necessary to look at the situation they were about to burst into...

When there was a yell. And a blur of green motion. Eianna frowned, and blinked for a moment in surprise, before being rocked out of her momentary stupor by Yala's 'pat', and the view of her friends back as she rushed forward into combat. The elf swore once, quietly and in her own tongue, before checking left and right and running towards the nearest tree, making a leap with arms extended to grab a branch above her head and pull herself into the canopy. She's painfully aware of the long tortuous seconds it takes for her to reach a position where her feet are planted on a hardy branch, and her view is relatively unimpeded by the canopy that opens before her.

Thin, long fingered hands move with the utter surety that comes only with endless repetition, and pull forth her bow, nocking an arrow without looking, her eyes instead transfixed on the fight before her. There appears to be no question as to which side she finds herself upon; the uneasiness that had begun to grow when she'd considered the odd readiness of the knights now blossomed into full distrust and disgust. She'd seen many orders, of many races, and few would seek to hound down a lone man the way that she saw now- certainly none that served the gods of order over the coming darkness.

And so she chooses her target. With Yala and the half-orc stood guard over the fallen man, Eianna turns her attention to those around them. The knight with the bloodied shoulder she dismisses for now in favour of one of his more actively dangerous companions, choosing one of the outer knights who had been shouldered aside but otherwise unharmed as Yala and her new battle-buddy ran head first into the fray. A rare, hungry seeming smile crawls onto Eianna's face then, and she pulls the arrow free of the string again, clenching it between her teeth as she feels within her quiver for a different pattern...

The arrow she chooses is one of the few magic items she'd ever really come to appreciate. She couldn't remember in that moment if this set of enchanted arrows had been one of Trevor's ideas or not, but in truth it mattered little. Nocking her chosen projectile she draws, aims and releases, aiming at the knight most central to the cluster who had been shouldered aside. Should it make it's mark, that knight would be having a very unpleasant experience, as fire followed the initial pain of the impact- a fire that, hopefully, would spread to his companions... But she doesn't wait to find out, instead readying and loosing the normal arrow that she'd put between her teeth soon after, perfectly content to begin raining death down on each knight within her view, firing two arrows before switching target, so each felt harried and distracted...

So far the plan had worked, he sailed from his tree branch and hit the ground in a roll, but as he started running, he felt a searing pain unlike anything else in his leg.

His muscles spasmed and he hit the ground, the flurry of punches and kicks followed giving the lone Marine no time to assess his wound through the searing haze of pain.

The elder knights words rang in his mind as he fought to stay conscious, this man seemed to know a lot about him, about his people. Techniques that Cameron learned in the academy did little to help him as he found the blade inches from his neck.

The momentary distraction provided by the strange greenskin and the large woman proved an excellent out, as they rushed their targets, Cameron used the last bit of his energy to fight through the pain, pull the disruptor pistol holstered at his right thigh, activate and fire it.

Two deafening cracks followed two brilliant flashes of green light as Cameron fired his weapon at the closest knight at point blank range, and then he fired two more shots at the second knight, shots that were likely to veer wildly off course through the pain induced fog.

Brilliant green flashes of light seared into the canopy, and Cameron used what reserves he had to roll away from the fighting so he wouldn't be caught in the crossfire.
