Riley entered the hotel room which was protected by a swarm of her dads bodyguards so that once she was in the room no one but the people told to be with her remained in the room. She waited for this so called "special bodyguard" her dad seemed to have found. He assured her that this man would bring her happiness throughout the course of his stay with her in Puerto Rico. She hoped that his words were true and that he wasn't just saying that to get her to accept the man as her body guard. She waited in her chair and began to play on her phone, checking her instagram to see how many likes she had gotten since she had to post pictures on there daily since she got paid to do that to promote company's clothes and make up. She heard the door open and men talking, not bothering to sit up because she didn't really care about how the bodyguard viewed her she just wanted to be protected and for them both to remain safe. The door opened and there stood her new bodyguard.

Ugh, babysitting. Jonathan Harper stuck a cigarette in his mouth and lit the tip. He inhaled deeply, and sighed out a loud plume of smoke. A friendly bodyguard sat across from him in the limousine, noticing his current mood.
"Aw, C'mon, Johnny," he said, "It can't be all bad. You're here in Puerto Rico, after all."
John smiled, "Have any kids?"
The bodyguard shrugged, "Well, no. Can't say that I do."
"Exactly."
The car stopped, and John exited, along with the half a dozen or so guards inside the limousine. Cigarette smoke trailed behind him as he followed the large group as they escorted him into what had to be the biggest hotel suite he had ever seen. Must be nice John thought to himself. The man heading the operation briefed him, with John barely listening as he finished his cigarette.
"Sir," a hotel staff person addressed him, "This is a non-smoking establishment."
"Oh, I gotcha," John said. He stuck a fresh cigarette in the man's front pocket. "There ya go. Enjoy, my friend," He laughed as the flustered man attempted to remove the cigarette from his pocket.
John felt the urge to go to the bathroom, and decided to give the nearest door a try. Much to his surprise, his childhood friend Riley was lounging right there on a behemoth of a bed.
"Riley? The hell are you doing here?"

Riley looked up at him and rolled her eyes a bit, shaking her head as she stood up to make herself seem like she had gotten taller.
"I just so happen to be the person who needs to be protected by my new body guard, is that you?"
She asked in disbelief since when they were younger he never seemed like the type who would try to protect her since he always teased her. She never really understood how they stayed friends if he teased her so much but it just happened.
"And, why are you here and in my room?"
She mumbled, looking back down at her phone as she began to slowly look through all the notifications she had received on her phone, hoping none were from the person who was attempting to ruin her life.
"Anyway, if your not here to reminisce about our childhood or to protect me please leave."
She said, not because she was being bitchy it's just because she didn't want something bad to happen and for his or anyone else who isn't qualified to defend her to get hurt.

John shook his head slightly, unsure of what to say. His pupils widened a little as his shock dissipated.
He laughed, "You're the job? Ha-ha! That's rich. That certainly would explain Mr. Castillio's recommendation that I get put on this detail. Yeah, Riles, I'm here to 'protect' you."
John walked backwards, towards the door frame. Great, my vacation time is cut short because Ms. Pop-Star needs a chaperone. I guess I can still get a tan in Puerto Rico, though. It might not be all bad.
"Hey, Riles, before I come back in here and get the low-down on whatever the job is, mind pointing me to where the crapper is in this joint? I'd like to be out of the splash zone when the sniper picks you off for using that," he said half-jokingly, pointing at her cell phone.
John leaned against the door, taking great care not to be near the windows. Before he had a chance to really gauge the situation, he felt like he had to assume the worst. He was surprised at her ability to stay calm. Normally, girls of her profession would be scared half to death just needing a bodyguard. Daddy's little girl, he thought to himself. Knowing her father, Riley probably had bodyguards for most of her life.

Riley looked at him and rolled her eyes, sitting back down on the bed. Her hand raised up and she pointed the the double doors over to the right of her room which was the bathroom or 'crapper' as he called it.
"Your still calling me that dumb nickname." She mumbled, looking at him before she stood up and walked over to the TV and flipped it on. She was bored and now with him here a bit annoyed. She knew how much he would try to tease her and to be honest she wasn't ready to gather all her patience up for one encounter.
She had been watching TV about some good vegan food, smiling she watched the program very interested. She heard a whirling noise and before she could turn to look out the window a bullet came shutting through the window, grazing her skin causing her to let out a loud yell. "John!" She yelled, scared.

"Don't pretend you don't like it," he teased, "Besides, how else would you know it's me?"
As he walked towards the bathroom, he heard an odd humming noise from the television as she turned it on. The crack of glass echoed out as she called out to him. In one fluid motion, he dove towards her, tackling her to the ground, and his hand grabbed the walkie-talkie at his waist.
"Shows fired, shots fired. Suspect firing from south-west side of building. Rooftop sniper. Requesting backup," he barked into the transceiver. Confirmation echoed out, but John couldn't hear it over the sound of more sniper bullet tearing through the wall. John flipped the bed up onto its side, shoving it towards the adjacent wall.
"Go! Get out of here!" He shouted at Riley. He produced a handgun and fired it at the window, splintering it to obscure the sniper's gaze.
"Avoid the windows! Get in the tub!" John barked at her. Shots fired outside, followed by distinct shouting. John could guess that the sniper had the rest of the security detail outpositioned. Which meant only one thing...

Riley fell over as she was tackled and held her bleeding arm, crawling to the bathroom she looked over at him from the bathtub which she was in. "P-Please be careful!" She yelled, staying in the bath tub because she was scared for her life. This was he first time that she had ever been shot at in her life, this was a terrifying experience for her. Yes, in front of others she could hide her worry and paranoia well, but when alone she tends to freak out. She curled up into a ball and whimpered, hoping that John would be okay, because now she needed him as much as ever. All she heard were bullets whizzing by and glass shattering, shaking her head she covered her ears.

John pulled out a cigarette and lit it. He jammed a large piece of the metal bed frame into the door leading into the room, effectively preventing it from opening any further than enough to stick an arm through. His radio buzzed with the yelling of the bodyguards attempting to deal with the sniper outside. Their words were drowned out by the sniper's gun blasting holes in the hotel room. Jonathan breathed in sharply, exhaling a plume of smoke. There. He heard heavy footsteps outside the suite. The sniper was providing an ample distraction so their team could kidnap Riley.
John grabbed his radio, "I'm going out for pizza, guys. Who wants mushrooms?"
Another voice echoed out, "Roger that."
A block of C4 sailed through the crack, and John caught it.
"Riley, I need you to stay calm, alright? Can you do that for me?" He asked loudly as he prepped the C4. A sharp thud echoed from outside the room. They drilled through the door. That was the door knob hitting the floor. Who did she piss off?
"Two anchovies with a side of butter," a voice said over the radio.
John smiled. He placed the C4 against the wall and ran into the bathroom. He jumped in the tub, careful not to crush Riley. A massive explosion shook the whole complex.

Riley was getting anxiety attack and she was shaking greatly in the spacious tub, hoping that John was okay and that the man didn't come through the door was overwhelming. She heard John and felt a bit more calm she heard his voice, but she was still shaking in her boots. She heard footsteps and began shaking violently, thinking they had made it in but it was just John coming to join her into the bathtub. Staying curled up she began to calm down with him close to her, taking some of her anxiety away.
"A-Are you okay?" She whispered.
She sat there and covered her mouth, the moment after she talked there was a large explosion shaking the whole complex. She had to cover her mouth to keep herself from screaming.

The pounding of the men hammering against the door was drowned out by the sharp beating of his own heart. John lifted up off of Riley, his face mere inches from hers. The debris of the wall that he blew up drifted through the air around them, some of it had fallen into the bathtub, covering them both in ceiling dust.
"Riles, I need you to focus. The wall I blew up was joined to an empty hotel room. Understand?" John stood up.
He pulled out his gun, "If you go through that room and leave out the front door, the stairs will be to your immediate right. Keep your head down, keep moving. I'll be right behind you." As soon as I deal with these guys, he thought to himself.
His eyes met hers, and he waited to make sure she was calm enough to follow his instructions.

Riley looked at him and nodded, swallowing hard as she looked over the bathtub. She wasn't sure about actually leaving him. She would have been embarrassed by his closeness, but this wasn't the time for that. She sighed softly and got ready to get up, trying to stop herself from shaking so she could actually run.
"Please be careful and try not to get too hurt, okay?" She hugged him tightly before jumping out of the bathtub and going to the hole in the wall that lead to the empty room. She kept her head down as she looked for the stairs, seeing them she began to walk down the stairs going down until she reached the lobby.

John watched her exit, and then pointed his gun at the jammed door. He fired several shots at it, causing the attackers to jump back in response. He then darted out into the hotel hallway, hot on Riley's trail. He pointed his gun down the hallway as he walked backwards to the stairs. He holstered the gun as he traveled down the stairs into the lobby. Once near the bottom, he heard a few voices shouting out above him.
Jesus, these guys are persistent. What the hell is going on? he thought. While he was busy listening, he collided with Riley. John reached out to keep her from falling.
"Hey, I'm walkin' here!" He joked.

Riley looked at him as she bumped into him, pulling him into a tight hug. She was so relieved to see that he was still alive and that he wasn't really harmed nor bruised. She pulled away and smacked his chest gently, shaking her head as she wiped the tears that had formed in her eyes away.
"You jerk, this is no time to be joking I was worried about you!" She said, pouting a bit as she continued her way to the lobby. "Let's go my driver is waiting outside." She mumbled, looking back at him before she rushed forward not wanting to be stuck in the hotel any longer. Seems like the trip would have to be a bit rushed, sighing she texted her dad and told him that she needed tickets for tomorrow morning.
"We have to go to Costa Rica sooner than planned, okay?" She asked, looking at him.

Jon smiled as she hugged him, but he made sure that she couldn't see him.
He gave a shrug, "Hey, people do more than prance around on stage for a living." He grabbed her phone from her hand, flicked off the back cover, and yanked out what appeared to be a small thumb drive from it. He tossed the now useless phone behind his shoulder as he snapped the drive in two, all right before her eyes.
"Listen, idiot. This stupid device almost got us killed just now. I'm not going to let you keep using it. You'll get a new one when we get to Costa Rica. And as for your driver," He grabbed Riley and hid behind a decorative pole, just before her driver could spot them, "Your dad told me that, in case of an emergency, no one can be trusted. I've got a car ready to go parked on the side of the hotel. Come on, we need to move, the police will be here any minute."
Jon narrowed his eyes down the hallway towards the side entrance. Who uses a phone after nearly getting killed for it? Especially since those guys are still alive and probably on the way down. Perhaps I should've told her that I didn't actually kill them. Argh, she can barely walk from the stress as it is, it's probably best not to pile on anything else. Jon pointed out the route to Riley, hoping she would know to avoid the large windows as they moved.

Riley felt dumb for hugging the jerk, yeah he saved her life but he was still mean! She glared at him as he broke her phone and then continued down the route he pointed to of course cautious as she walked past the dumb big windows. She looked back at him and just wanted to cuss him out for breaking her phone, but of course she didn't because she stopped using such fowl language when with someone else when she was by herself or drunk she let all the cussing out. Anyway, making it to where he told her the car was she stood there and frowned just a bit.
"So where are we gonna stay now, Mr. Know-it-all." She said, looking at the car from where they were. I am so tired of this person trying to kill me who the hell could it be, sheesh I hardly ever am able to talk to anyone because I am so busy so why would anyone try to kill me if I can never talk to anyone? People are so crazy nowadays..

Jon clicked the keyless entry, unlocking both of the doors. Before getting into the car, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it, sighing out the smoke he inhaled. The faintest sound of police sirens echoed on the horizon. He climbed into the car and seatbelted himself. With a flick of his wrist, the car roared to life. He calmly pulled out of the driveway and drove onto the main road, careful not to be seen by Riley's driver.
"Alright, we have a ways to go before we get to the airstrip. Mind telling me why people might be trying to kill you?" Jon sounded exasperated. Not that you'd really know. The person I should be asking is your father. He seemed to have the wisdom to hire an entire god damned platoon of bodyguards for this job. He had to have known that something was going on. I'd bet my bottom dollar that he can't be reached, either. Damn it. Jon took another drag of his cigarette, rolling down the window a crack to let the smoke escape out of it.
"What were you doing before you ended up here?"

Riley looked at him and let out a small sigh as she began to think back to when this started to happen. She turned fully towards him, seat belt on already you know to be safe.
"Well it all started last month, I was on my second city for the tour and I was doing signings and someone told me that there was woman looking for me so I asked is it a fan or a manager woman. She wait it was person from my team who had something important to discuss. I told my bodyguard to talk with her and he came back with a package, inside there was a note he opened it and it said 'Keep your eyes open always. xoxo KJ'. I was creeped out and threw it away, signing the woman's paper I continued with my tour. I got to my hotel room and I went to sleep, when I woke up my room was trashed and there was a dead animal hanging in my room. I screamed and my guards came in and they moved me then my father flew in and then said he would find someone to investigate this and then he said he had someone who would help and then you showed up. And before I ended up here I was on tour like I always am.." She sighed.
Being on tour was tiring and usually boring the people you talk to you can't stay friends with for long because you leave after a few days and because you move around so much you loose track of people.

Jon kept his eyes on the road, swerving in and out of traffic at a speed slightly faster than the other cars, but not so fast to draw attention. His left hand rested at ten o'clock on the wheel, while his right arm held onto the car's shifter, despite it being an automatic.
"I see," he said through the cigarette in his lips, "Although, I do have a couple of questions. First, you said that you woke up, found your ransacked room, and screamed, then the guards came in, right?" He inhaled from the cigarette, making the tip glow red.
"Second," he continued, "Do you have any business associates with name's that start with a 'K'?" A large truck swerved in front of them, causing Jon to hit the brakes a little sharply. He honked at them as they merged into another lane, and then sped passed them.
He blew smoke out of his nose, "Lastly, the package that you didn't open. Do you happen to remember how it was wrapped?"
Okay, there's the exit to the airfield. We should be there in about ten minutes. I hope her highness doesn't mind riding something other than first-class. He could barely surpress a smile for what was just up ahead.

Riley looked at him as he drove, looking at the rode as well she continued to glance out of the window. She loved the adrenaline and hated it at the same time, looking at him as he spoke she nodded to his first question as well as all of them. She bit her lip as she began to remember how the package had been wrapped.
"Yeah, the package was wrapped in brown paper which was holding a smaller black box which held the note. And we had a worker whose name started with K but he was found dead so we ruled him out." She said, looking out the window as she stated to cough a bit. She rolled down the window and sighed.
"Do you have to smoke?" She groaned. She hated the smell of smoke and the congested feeling she got when someone smoked around her and she couldn't help but inhale it or if she walked into it. She took a breath from the open window and shook her head as she seen where they were heading. "Wait, where are we going?"

Jon remained silent for a spell, attempting to piece together the bits of the puzzle. The big thing he couldn't figure out was how the perpetrator could slip past all of her guards, wreck the place, and slip out unnoticed. If there were any leads, he would've read about them in the dossier. The initials 'KJ' could mean anyone or anything at that point, so it remained useless. At least for the moment. The way the package was wrapped indicated, at least to Jon, that it was meant to remove suspicions. No one would wrap a dead animal in such a fancy way, which meant that the person seemed to know a lot about Riley's business and security detail, which made Jon even more uncomfortable.
He turned down an exit, cutting off a car, which blared its horn loudly at him. After shooting them a rude gesture, Jon darted down the road and over a hill, revealing a small and beaten down airship with a large cargo plane on it. He suppressed a grin as he drove towards it.
"Listen," he said, "I know you were hoping for a first-class, all expenses paid vacay to Puerto Rico, but the situation has gotten a lot worse. I can't really have you on a big plane with a crapload of strangers on it. I'm sure you understand."
She's lucky enough to get a plane, at this rate. Her father, however, will be the unlucky one when he gets the bill for this last minute flight. He'll kill me after I save his princess. Jon pulled up to the gate, a sly smile on his face.
