Introduction
The biggest forest between the two nations is enchanted, you can walk for five minutes and end up fifty miles away. The stream running through it is poisoned with Deadwater: black water that can kill any living thing that touches it. The poison is what keeps commoners away from the war. Most of the Earth at this time is polluted, so water in a stream could be any color in the world. The commoners, not knowing any better, attempt to wade across it, and die. Escaped commoners living in the forest are trying to clear the stream of harm.
The Hex have technology to give people certain visions that someone they love is in mortal danger. The people receiving them run over to help them and end up right where the Hex want them. The visions can be fought against, with special training.
The Hexes have an overpopulation problem, and they don't have enough food for everyone. Only kids of rich Hexes can go to school, where they learn about how the technology is made and works. Poorer Hexes are not taught how to make the technology, for fear that they will use it for a rebellion. Most of the Hexes fear their leader, Hexadecimal. Every molecule of her data is stored in every computer in the Hex nation. If Hexadecimal is killed and even one computer is left un-destroyed, it will be able to re-create her. She has a chip implanted near her heart, which will notify all the computers if she dies.
The Mages have very different life. Every single kid MUST go to school. About 1 out of twenty kids is an elemental and has to go to the training academy. It is a social norm to fight in the war, that is, if you are normal. You can get out of it, with a few dirty looks. But unless you escape, if you are elemental, YOU ARE GOING TO FIGHT. There is no way around it. You are forced to. Every parent in the Mage nation is expected to teach them a simple spell. They are expected to have learned it by age five. If they cannot do it, they are put in special school for a year. If they still can't do it they are deemed an elemental.
So who will you be? A lowly commoner looking for a better life? A fugitive trying to stay alive? Or a power hungry leader? The choice is yours.

"crap. go away, stupid robokitty." <insert sound of large robokitty's circuits being fried HERE> Samantha, against all logic has decided to follow me. and bring a leech with her. "Hi, so nice to see you again. how are you? why are you following me? I'm LEAVING. I won't be out her for much longer, so I'm perfectly safe. So, BYE!" she stares at me and I use the chance to teleport to the edge of the enchanted forest, where no one will find me. i walk in, and take a moment to send a spell at my footprints to make them dissapear. I run for about five minutes and stop. i know that i won't be followed now; that was fifteen MILES. I'm kind of tired, so i use another two spells, this time a spell that creates a shelter out of sticks and leaves and a level 42 invisibility spell on me and it. "ha." I say aloud. i got away, and NO ONE is bringing me back. YAY.
I watch as Posidonia walks away. She reminds me a bit of myself when I was her age. I can tell she isn't coming back to camp. I nudge Fernando and he opens his eyes almost immediatly. He immediatly jumps up to his feet and says, "Who are you and what do you want?" I feel a stab of sadness. My own son doesn't recognize me. But no matter. "Who am I?" I laugh, "Why, I am your mother of course." I feel a twinge of amusment at the look of astonishment on Fernando's face. I say quickly, "You were seperated from me when you were young, but now I've found you. Will you come to the Hex nation with me?"
So it's true? I Am A HEX?! Thank you! Yes! I want to come back! I give her a hug. We go to the place where the battle happened to see if there is a ship we can use. There is mostly rubble, although we find one that has the back torn off, but other than that it's fine. Delena 'mom?' tries to get the radio to work, but it doesn't. We get out of there, headed towards the home I don't remember.
I think that I should take April home. She is bleeding on leg, I think she got hurt on the way here. I hold her in my arms. I don't know how much I will miss Adena. She was extremely rude, but only to me. I know she hates me, but I don't really care at this point. I probably wont see her again. I walk back to camp. "Just go to sleep, dear. We will be home soon." I say quietly to April. Her mother must be so worried. My mother must be so worried. I go over the mountain. The trip is silent as I think about what I'll do when I get home. Right now, we are fugitives. I keep walking, it is a good thing that April weighs so little. I reach the camp and I see Posidonia walking out of the corner of my eye.
"Wait!" I yell. She realizes that April is with me and waits for me to catch up. At least I know that Posidonia doesn't hate me anymore. "We are going home, are you going, too?"
"Yes," She says softly, she seems less peppy than I remember.
As we walk I turn back to look back at the camp where I spent a horrible week of my life. I made some friends and lots of enemies. Not the outcome I wanted, but it all turned out okay. I survived. I'm injured, but alive. So is April, that is all that matters now. And, to think we arrived here young elementals and we are leaving very different. Hades is going home where he will be safe. That is a word that I haven't used in a long time, April will soon be safe, at home. Safe. Something I haven't been for this whole week. For some reason I feel like it's been way longer than a week. I look back at all the destruction, things were peaceful, all we had to worry about was food, water, and shelter. Then chaos started here and it all ended with a death. It was depressing, but there was nothing that I could do. I tear runs down my cheek. I look back at the corpse that we are leaving behind along with all of the bad memories. He deserves a proper burial, I can arrange that. It doesn't matter what kind of person he was, nobody deserves to die. I turn around, all looking back is going to do is make me more depressed than I already am, more traumatized than I already am, need more therapy than I already am. There is no use thinking of what could've been, only think of what is. I stop thinking about the camp and we are halfway to home. Thinking about the past really is a good time killer. We finally arrive after having 3 breaks to catch our breath. I knock on the door of Ms. May's tiny house. She responds quickly.
"Sammy! Long time, no see! Why aren't you in school? Have you taught little April any new spells?" She says. As always, bombarding me with questions.
"Hello Ms. May. I am taking April back home to recover. She was in a training camp and she's been through a lot in a small amount of time." I say. Ms. May takes about 5 minutes to study me, she looks at my shiny, red hair, looks at my deep, blue eyes, and then takes April into her arms carefully. She makes sure not to wake April and carefully closes the door. I walk over to my tiny house and hesitate to knock on the door. I knock on the door and my mother responds. At first, she studies me similar to how Ms. May did. Then, she grabs my hand and says "Samantha, Samantha Jones... still as beautiful as I remember you. Trust me, i remember. I have been sick for a long time, but I could never forget my first child." She says very quietly, I could barely hear her.
I enter my house. I take a look inside, i smell the roses, such a familiar smell. I quickly step back out of the house and cry. I can't hold back the tears. Suddenly, my sister walks out and I see her, she is 8 years old now. This causes me to run into the forest and cry some more. Whenever I look at my sister, all I can see is a little baby. I am finally ready to enter the house again.
"Samantha, we have the house smell like roses to prepare for the day that you should return. I didn't know that it would be so soon." my mother says. Her voice just seems like a fantasy. Her blonde hair makes me wonder why my hair is red, her green eyes make me wonder why mine are blue. She just feels like a distant memory that i bring back with a simple spell. A family is more than a simple spell. I embrace my mother and sister. I walk into the house one small step at a time. My old room, it is exactly like I left it. They must've kept it as a memory. I sit down at the table after getting accustomed to my house.
"Honey, we've been thinking about starting our own magic school to teach mages properly. With your amazing magic skill, we could win this war once and for all." My mother says with her soft, soothing voice.
She always has amazing ideas. I just nod my head. This one idea could turn into something huge. A boy in my neighborhood knocks on the door. I answer it. David? We played together as kids!
"Ready to start the Jones Magic School?" he says teasingly. He is in on it? Great, more people to help out. I realize how much he has grown, too. Ugh, I feel like I've been gone for twenty years.
------------------------------5 years later--------------------------------
Yeah, David asked me out and the business is amazing. We are training students in combat skills. This seems too perfect to be true. Then again, meeting my mother again seems to perfect to be true. Life is just full of surprises, usually after a bad one, a good one comes along. Now, I'll have my family to be with me during the good surprises and bad surprises.
THE END!! (or is it?)
The Hex have won after years of hard fighting. Hexadecimal expected me to become a war prince, but I had my taste of battle back at the elemental school when the Hex invaded. After that invasion, which Samantha and Adena were able to ward off, the Hex kept up the relentless attack. With the elemental school ruined and only a few survivors who never wanted to touch their element again, in one generation the Mages were lacking their strongest link they depended on for security. We won the war in days.
It's not how I imagined it, though. Everyone liked to dream of the land from the defeated Mages could once and for all solve our population problem. With the Mages gone, the Natives were able to rise up. They fought with a mixture of crude war technology and natural magic. We would have been able to defeat them in our full glory, but the war had left us weak. We are currently under siege from the Natives. They are attacking our main factories. We have no resources and soldiers to fight and with the constant attack we can't gain any.
A few villages in the Mage nation were spared, including the one Samantha and Posidonia call home. They have started a Mage school, and with the Native attacks, we can't stop them while they are weak. With the defeat of the Mage nation, I got my memory back. I wrote it all down so I can't forget it again no matter what happened. This is what it said:
I was a 5-year old in the Hex nation. My parents were rich and had high status because of their strong relation to Hexadecimal. My parents loved me, but they took for granted the total safety of our town. One day I was playing in my yard. A poor looking man came over. He didn't look the same as normal, but I couldn't place it. He asked me if I would spare some money. I agreed and told him that my parents might not allow me. He told me that I should sneak it out. He told me I was to put it in a secret place where he would find it. I asked where, and he said, "Come, let me show you." I shouldn't have trusted him, but I didn't know better than to follow him at the time. He led me to the very edge of our town, where the factories started, and bent down to lift a trash can. I knelt down to see it better, and suddenly his cold hand was on my back. He said some words I had never heard before and the world started spinning. When it came back into focus I saw that we were in a small village with shacks. It was very different from what I knew, though. Even the really poor always had metal houses. Sometimes it was bad metal, like iron that could rust easily, but they were always metal or plastic. Here, these houses were made of wood and dirt. Two materials I had barely seen, and yet this obviously poor village had houses made of them! I knew we must be in the Mage nation. I should have been scared, but I was so young it was only fascinating. The man snapped his fingers and I was roped and gagged. He shoved me on a wagon and off we went, with me unable to protest. We came to a long, low brick building and the wagon rolled right in. The signs in the building said things like, "Convert a Hex!" and "0-2-year-olds that way. " It started to dawn on me what was happening. The man spoke again in his gravelly voice. I recoiled in terror. "Yes, my pretty, you are going to give my family a chance of surviving the winter." He was going to sell me! We went into a room. A man in a white uniform sat at attention behind a large wooden desk. "Greetings," he said. "This one looks good. Another one to pass of as an elemental, I assume." After some research in recent years, I know that the elemental schools used to pay the family money to compensate for the fact that their child would probably die. Some poor mages used to sell kidnapped Hexes as "elementals" to make money. The transaction finished and the man behind the desk took me home. That is where I lived until I was twelve.
I had other "brothers" and "sisters" in the man's home too. We all suspected we were different, but something about the house made us forget why. We were separated from other kids usually, so we didn't realize everyone else at our age could do magic.
Then, on my 12th birthday, we were all taken way way past the border of our village. We walked so long I thought our feet would explode. We saw a tall, glistening building grow in the distance. When we were still far enough away that the people in the building couldn't see us, our "father" went to us one by one and performed a memory charm. It would be 11 years until I finally recovered. We went into the building, which I discovered was a school, were enrolled as students, and became "elementals". I remember everything that happened next.
I am now about twenty years old, a "war prince", and married to a great girl. She has never left the Hex nation but understands my struggle and everything I go through. We have one kid, who we named Katherine. Whatever eventually happens, I at least know my whole life.

I've now been helping the natives fight the Hex army for the last few years. this is what i really wanted all along. we have been beating them, at least somewhat, and i haven't needed to kill anyone. i sometimes catch myself wondering what happened to Hades, and i keep worrying that i will end up against him in battle. i know that he reclaimed his parents and spot in the hex royalty, and he is now a big military person, but that doesn't mean much. I've heard rumors that there is a new training academy, created by Samantha's family, and i wish them luck. I don't know a lot about it. I've been training elementals that didn't even know they were in the native area. this is sometimes painful, though. they kids are growing up with ingrained bloodlust, and I've seen myself mirrored. I've learned how to control all elements, though, and one day i will go into the hex nation myself. nothing would make me happier than to find the man who killed my family and kill him with my bare hands. one of the people who lives here lived in my village. he told me my story, and it went like this: my parents were involved in protecting the Mage Empire. they were good people. in town, they helped people, they at some point kept an entire squad of hex meat heads from vaporizing our village, everything. then, when i was about three, there was an assassin. he came in the night, and killed my mother, father, and two brothers. he missed me. the next day, the villagers found me in the house, looking confused. one took me in and i was sent to the academy. my real name was Adena Willoworth. I was shocked. i could have went to the hex nation right then and there and killed that man. but the only thing i can do now is train people, lead them into battle, hurt hex's, bring them back and perform brain wipes and retrain them. but when that day comes i go alone. and hunt him down. and until that day...
Adena Willoworth; Elemental Master, Trainer of Fighters, Signing Off
-----Reversing Time...Ooh, magic....------
I have been home with my dad for a few weeks and I've settled down to normal. Except nothing can be normal anymore, not after what happened. I still have nightmares where everything is distorted. I'm with all of the strangers when the cat attacks us, I feel guilt as I harm it....We are starving to death and fighting amongst ourselves...The Hex attack and I feel power building up in me as I kill men and women and don't feel remorse...I see Mathew lying on the ground dead...I'm walking home when I fall down dead ad I hear rough sobbing in my ears...and then I wake up and realize I'm the one crying.
Though my dad swore they would, the nightmares don't seem to be getting any better. They aren't getting any worse though, so I guess that's good. Kind of.
The Jones haves started a mages school, which is good I guess...especially since it gives me something to do. I'm a teacher there, of sorts. While most teachers focus on spells and the like, I am purely elemental. I've tried the spells, but everything they do I feel is pointless so I stop listening. Samantha has given up on regular classes so she's tutoring me herself. Which I guess is good... It's back to the way things were.
My dad is a lot better off than he was when I left. The elemental school was paying him, of course, but when I was selected for the elite training program, he got a boost. That's good because I don't have enough time now to devote myself to our survival only... and even if I did I couldn't. Not after the week I spent out where the only thing I had was eat, sleep, and listen to endless bickering and the wind howling in my ears. April has calmed down and is a very good pupil. She takes after Samantha though, she prefers the spells to Eolas, the type of elemental training I teach. But Samantha's little sister who's a water is with me entirely. Not to mention that the magic can pollute water, so she's a little pissed about that.
As I was saying, life is peaceful. Or at least, sort of. Our school has been overthrown by Hex. The surviving pupils have fled here or sworn never to use their magic again. Which bums me out. Because without some of our most talented people we are hopeless against the Hex. I know that they have also gained a strong ally: Hades, or should I say Fernando Waters? While his magic was weak he could make things blow up and he's a great tactician. However, he's a good ally for another reason. Hexadecimal has regained full power because Hades has turned over his necklace. Funny, I never knew what it was. Samantha knew. She could have destroyed it. But she was uncertain, so why hold a grudge?
Anyway, MY life isn't perfect at the moment. I have to gather all of the remaining mages. That hasn't been hard but I have to track down Adena. THAT is what's difficult. I wonder what will happen....
((Ok, more 2morrow, I'm kinda tired))

"Adena, I need you. The school has been destroyed, but we want one last go at the Hex. I want to grind Hades-or Fernando, or whatever you call him!- into a fine pulp. Hexadecimal has regained full power, and we MUST stop her, or else this entire village will be destroyed with us." I think it's a winning argument, but Adena disagrees.
"Waste innocent lives for you? What have you ever done for me?"
"Adena, this isn't about you or me, about old rivalries. This is about us, about the world and the future we want. The Hex have pulled down hopes and dreams and destroyed souls. They have burnt villages and polluted the land. But that's not all. They have killed the innocent along with those opposed to them. They killed your parents and destroyed you village. But it's not just you! I had a boyfriend, and he moved to a new village though we kept in touch. I received word a few days ago that his whole village has been razed and him the only one killed, Adena, the only one killed! They destroyed the lives of so many to send a private message to me! Whose to stop them from going after this village just to teach you a lesson? What is to stop them from destroying us all and grinding us beneath their heels? What is to stop them," I add, "From taking away our abilities and killing us as a message to our people?" I can see my words taking effect, but then Adena's control comes back and she counters.
"You speak to me of the danger we're in, that our families are in, that our world is in, but what will happen if we rebel? Who will be left? NO ONE! If the Hex are as powerful as you say, then the world could come falling apart. Ok, a few villages are destroyed, a boy you haven't thought about in a year dies, who cares? The population would be safe, we'd survive, and I could burn everyone of them if they get to close."
"Exactly! Adena, you are one of the most powerful mages who has ever lived! We all were! We still are! If we can come together we can destroy them!" I say. Adena sighs.
"Fine, but you're telling them" she says gesturing outside, and I smile.
The speech is easy enough, I tell them the same things I told Adena. They agree to fight, and all of those who can come with me to my village. WE WILL CHALLENGE THE HEX, AND IF WE DON'T WIN, THEN WE CAN AT LEAST SAY WE TRIED.
((More later, sorry if you don't like my changes to Aden's personality, I just thought she might be a little different after moving in with the natives.))
