The job had been easy, the owner had even left the keys in the car, but Kimiko still felt bad. It looked new like, shiny paint job and unworn leather interior new, so she guessed the owner had spent big bucks on it. In the back of the mind she scolded herself. ~You had no choice, You had to get out of that town. They were the ones who made it so easy.~ She sighs and refocuses her eyes on the road. Noticing that she seemed to be in the middle of nowhere and that she actually hadn't seen another car in a while Kimiko flicked on the headlights and continued to drive.

About an hour later something in the trees caught Kimiko's eye and she slowed the car, eventually coming to a stop right next to a somewhat narrow dirt road. Smiling she laughed to herself softly. ~Perfect, I was running low on cash anyways. I'm sure that there has to be something valuable here... if it isn't just a camping site...~ As she thought this she turned and drove a little ways up the path, stopping where the trees ended. Looking up the hill, Kimiko's eyes widened at the mansion before her, shock and awe painting her features.

Despite her best judgment, her excitement getting the best of her, Kimiko found a concealed path to the house, starting to walk around it slowly before spotting an open window into what looked to be the kitchen. Smiling Kimiko easily hoisted herself up into the window, sliding through and dropping to the tiled floor with an almost silent thud. Looking around Kimiko scowled at the mess in the room, not being able to tell a wooden spoon from a silver spoon with all the muck and grime.

Setting her small backpack down she slowly started sorting through the filth, throwing out trash and sorting valuable utensils from plain ones. Doing so as quietly as possible she also put the other dirty dishes in the sink, thinking to herself. ~This place is a disaster! Either no one's been here for a while or the owner's a slob!~ Having salvaged a good amount of the silver utensils Kimiko grabbed her bag and put them in before moving to go into the next room.

After a few steps into the next room the lights flicked on and Kimiko jumped back with a soft yelp, bumping into a table from the temporary blindness. At the same time she dropped her bag, it landing on the hard-wood floor with a loud clang. As her vision adjusted Kimiko came face to face with a tall, bluish-blonde haired man who stood before her. Her eyes widening a little Kimiko tried to take a step back, the result being her bumping into the dining table once again.

Mariya was asleep in bed, she always took sporadic naps when she got the chance, especially on boring days such as this. Her sleep schedule was well... unorthodox to say the least. She'd wake up at different hours each day and would treat the hours as if they were morning anyhow. She crawled out of bed, rubbing her forehead. She always got a headache when the episodes began. How troublesome.. she thought with a sigh. She stood from her bed, looking to the floor. She frowned a bit and kicked at the air, "Quit dancing around like you own the place, idiotic vermin.. You're uninvited guests, remember?" She mumbled. To the naked eye she was talking to herself, kicking absolutely nothing, but to Mariya she saw goblins dancing around on her floor and they were the noisiest creatures if there ever were any.

She got dressed, ignoring the vile beings on the floor, combing through her hair and sighing at the mirror. As a doctor, she knew she was simply schizophrenic and seeing shit, but as a person everything felt so real.. How could this all be in her head if she was seeing it with her own eyes?

"This is our dearest Mariya Santinoa! A wonderful doctor and quite the introvert. If she ever starts yelling at you, back away."

I heard that.. Mariya frowned as she overheard Maximous talking about her from the other side of the door. Shall I tell her you grow cat ears and a tail on Tuesdays, Maxi? She smiled to herself, giggling at her thoughts before opening her bedroom door. Her face was cold as ever, quite different than the ones she made while alone. She locked her bedroom up, considering if anyone saw the mess she'd die of embarrassment. Most rooms were clean nowadays, well as clean as Max could keep them on his own, but she was a girl. She never let him in her room, because girls were supposed to be clean and tidy creatures. Mariya.. the only thing clean about her aside from her personal hygiene was her lab. She couldn't stand for her lab to be dirty.

She felt her stomach growl and decided to sneak off to the kitchens. Everyone else seemed busy or maybe they were in bed? She wasn't that certain, but she wasn't about to ask for help on making a sandwich. She quietly descended from the attic to the ground floor, making it to the kitchen and grabbing the bread. She proceeded over to the fridge and grabbed the ham and cheese, placing everything on the table. Though she reach for the mayonnaise and everything turned for the worst. She was seeing crows sleeping next to the jar and she instantly fell back, head first to the floor. She'd let out a scream, eyes wide and full of fear. B-birds... She could handle all of her other hallucinations, but birds for some reason scared her stiff. The refrigerator door was wide open as she stared up, her nor the 'crows' moving. To any onlookers Mariya simply fell reaching for the mayonnaise at the top shelf, but to her she was looking at her worst nightmare.

Image "Why don't you take a break for a bit to eat something Akito? I will eat after I have finished my share." He nodded at the boy. "On a side note, you should really meet the new house woman. She's quite pretty, and I hope you two can get along. In other words," Max's voice grew firm for a moment. "Don't scare her off." With that he silently got back to work.

"..Yeah yeah, whatever you say. Just so you know, I don't want her in my wing of the house. If she stays out of it, there will be no problem with me....That is unless Aki chooses otherwise." He mumbled the last part and in the middle of that there was a loud scream, coming in the direction of the first floor.

Instantly, he knew right away as to whom that scream belonged to. "Tsk..dammit." Akito punched the wall's doorway frame as he rushed out of the west wing.

It took him a second to look through the house. First hitting the living room and then the kitchen. And after all running all the way inside the main house. "..Mariya..what happened?.." Trying to hold his panting back he rushed over to her, helping her sit up as he knelt down on the floor.

No matter what personality Akito was in, when it came down to Mariya, he would always act different with. Carrying, concerned, gentle, and once in a while babying her. She was a very special friend of his. And he took her being near to heart. He would have done it with Max as well, but Max was a guy and less fragile like Mariya was. It was completely different, least in his heart it was.

Softly taking her by her hand so she wouldn't fall he placed his other hand ontop of her head to make sure it didn't crack open or was bleeding. Thankfully it wasn't, but it did start to form a slight bump. "Love, if you needed anything....why didn't you just ask. Even if it's something stupid, ask for help, you know I don't mind."

Sighing softly he picked her up into his arms. She was as light as a feather to him, it was like picking up a small animal, she was soft too with a little squish to her. He lifted her to the countertop at the island and sitting her down. Letting her go he reached inside the freezer to get some ice into a cloth. Offering it to her with a small gentle smile on his face. "If it still hurts in the morning, let me know. But for now, it's just a bump."

He didn't leave, instead he turned to sink, washed his hands and started to make her the sandwich that it looked like she was trying to make. After finishing it, he tried to cut it in half but ended up making one side bigger than the other. Unlike Aki's perfect triangled cuts, Akito was a bit, ' I don't care and am too lazy' type.

Giving it to her he grimaced a bit at how it looked. Maybe that was why she didn't ever ask Akito for much help, maybe that was why Aki was easier to talk to or ask. Oh well at least he did it and helped her. Well helping her wasn't much of a choice. his feet moved before he could think.

He laughed softly, shaking off the thought and gave her the most softest smile that he could give at the moment. He knew that she struggled, just like he did, but maybe even worse. No, it probably was worse than him, but at least he could relate to it in some ways.

Handing her the plate he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back against the counter by the fridge, with his eyes closed. he waited for her to get done, so that she wouldn't have to walk alone to her bedroom. It was late and even though t was in their house, it was still dangerous at night. The house was huge and what lived under it, was worse. Akito was the only one who knew of it. Aki had an idea of it, but it never crossed his mind that it was real. Which was the reasoning behind the MindLab.

Aki was the mind, Akito was the Alien.

Why was he awake?

There was a warm bed and a soft pillow waiting for him in his room, yet here he was, laying down on the floor of his studio, no doubt getting his back turned into an abstract painting with all the oil paint he’d spilled earlier, and counting the static clouds on the ceiling because cheeps were useless and did not help you sleep!

Groaning, he rubbed his face as hard as he dared and then let his hands rest there, hoping maybe the smell of paint would be strong enough to at least make him faint. Anything was better than that blank canvas staring him in the face, laughing at him, taunting him with its ... blankness. It was frustrating as hell, because for weeks now he’d been as stable as can be, a record time for him. If there was a right time to relax, take good care of himself and "make the most of it", this was it.

He wanted to sleep, he needed to sleep, but everyday he was yanked out of bed and pulled into one of his studios, restlessness masking itself as inspiration to force him to grab a brush or pluck a string, only to be met with an empty mind that refused to produce a single stroke or note. Today was the same, and honest to whatever god was out there, he tried, he tried everything but nothing worked. And he’d be have to be dead before he took any sleeping pills, so tonight the point goes for insomnia, his old selfish bastard of a friend.

Lost in his thoughts, Yuudai almost didn’t register the sound of footsteps echoing down the halls just outside his studio, but then his ears picked up a familiar voice and his curiosity was piqued. It was Maximous. He couldn’t tell what the manager was saying but there was no mistaking that voice, and he seemed to be speaking to someone, which was odd. Why would Maximous and the others be on his floor this late at night?

Mustering up the will to get off the floor was harder than he’d be willing to admit, and he almost gave up altogether, it was so comfortable there. Sticky, but comfortable. By the time he opened the doors and stepped into the hallway, there was no one there. It was at that point that his stomach decided that now was the perfect time to make its presence known. Mumbling curses under his breath, Yuu ruffled his mess of a hair, entertaining the idea of going downstairs and grabbing a bite to eat. In the end, his whining stomach decided for him.

"Maybe I’ll bump into good old Max and find out what he was doing here," he murmured to no one in particular as he passed his bedroom, enjoying the way his voice bounced off the walls. "Either that or he’ll tell me I’m hearing things." He chuckled at the last bit, though his laughter came up a bit forced.

That’s when he heard a distant sound, it was faint but it sounded an awful lot like a scream. Now, screams had lost their shock value ever since he’d moved to this place, it was a house for unstable people after all. But not matter how much you got used to them, they still evoke a primal reaction, so he couldn’t help but stand alert. So, while he didn’t run down the stairs, he still picked up his pace, wondering about the source of the scream.

To his surprise, he heard voices in the kitchen. With slow movements, Yuu took a few steps towards it. As he stood at the doorsill, hiding paint covered hands in his pockets, he was met with the sight of Akito and Mariya, the first leaning against the counter and the latter siting on the inland’s countertop with her back to him. Now that he thought about it, the scream was probably hers. Another one of her more violent hallucinations perhaps… she hasn’t had one in a while.

His eyes caught Akito’s blue ones as the dark haired man opened them. Though by this time he was more than aware of Akito’s personality changes, the gaze he got right then was all the confirmation he needed to know it wasn’t the “normal" Akito he was facing right now.

"I heard a scream," he started in a calm tone, testing the waters. The man looked relaxed, but you could never be too sure with this Akito. Rubbing off a smudge of paint on his face, Yuu let his eyes rest on the girl’s silhouette. Is Mariya alright?"

"..Mariya..what happened..?"

Mariya's amethyst eyes widened as Akito came to the scene, like always. He was typically the first one to come to her aid, no matter how late it was. A blush crossed her face, not because she had a crush on him, but because she felt humiliated. She didn't want to be this person. She wanted to be independent, strong.. The person she used to be. She avoided his gaze for a moment longer before composing herself.

After his help getting up, Mariya looked him directly in the eyes, "I...tripped. I'm fine." She let out a small 'hmph', because his caring and nurturing behavior was something she wasn't sure how to process. Her parents never treated her with much affection.. After they discovered her intellect she was more of a trophy than a daughter.. She grew up an only child and she never had time for boyfriends... She wasn't familiar with everyone's affections in this place. Even now, it made her feel awkward accepting their acts of kindness. She couldn't figure out how to react towards it.

"Love, if you needed anything....why didn't you just ask. Even if it's something stupid, ask for help, you know I don't mind."

Mariya crossed her arms before staring up at Akito. Her eyes were stubborn, despite the fact she appreciated the notion. She didn't ask because it was embarrassing. She was eighteen and couldn't reach the top shelf of the fridge without climbing... She didn't want to admit she needed assistance! A pout formed on her lips as she began to respond, "I know.. but I could have done it if.. Nevermind.. just make the sandwich.." Then her eyes widened a bit, "I-If you want, if not I can do it myself.. It's not like I want you to or anything.." She decided to stop talking because the more she went the more awkward of a place she got herself into.

She was taken aback as Akito lifted her from the floor and placed her on the counter. The blush returned to her face and she turned with her back to him, "I-I could have gotten up on my own! I-I'm not a kid.. You know I don't like being picked up, Akito-san!" she snapped, and although it sounded angry she was more flustered than anything. Mariya just sulked as he handed her the ice, staring down at the cool ice packed cloth with dread. She didn't really like being cold, but as a doctor she knew it was necessary. She hesitantly placed it to the bump, hissing a bit because it was tender, "Understood. Thanks.."

She watched him like a hawk as he began to prepare her sandwich, with almost creepy precision. She knew Akito for almost three years, yet her subconscious fear of being poisoned still haunted her daily life. She didn't mind the awkward cut, actually she preferred it. Maximous was a bit too precise with everything when he cooked. It was too perfect. Anyone who got the chance to see her room (which she has never let any of them in...) would realize Mariya was the complete opposite of a neat freak. It wasn't until the cut of the sandwich that Mariya realized which version of Akito she was dealing with. So it's Akito-san...

As she noticed Akito's expression, Mariya opened her mouth to say something,, but nothing came out. She just accepted the plate gratefully and took a medium sized bite of the sandwich. She chewed slowly, always one to enjoy her food, especially when mayonnaise was involved. She ate unhealthy amounts of it, knowing that it wasn't that great for her health, but it was one of her only vices. Why can't I say anything nice when someone needs a compliment..? I wanted to tell Akito that I like both sides of him, equally.. but when I try to say that out loud it just seems so much more embarrassing to say.. She swallowed and took a second bite, letting out a sigh. She was growing disgusted with herself and her inability to speak her mind when it truly counted. She always could insult someone at the flip of a hat.. Why couldn't she do that when she wanted to say something sincere?

She watched him lean against the counter, and she closed her eyes as she ate. So he's staying with me? Akito-san's a lot nicer than he'd let people believe.. Perhaps that's why we get along.. We've got one thing in common when he's not Aki-san..

“I heard a scream, Is Mariya alright?”

"Gomenasai..." she mumbled her apology to the two men, averting her gaze in shame. She really didn't like it when she made a scene and now both Akito and Yuu were concerned. She turned her gaze to him, putting on a strong face, despite the fact he had little demons playing around on his head, tugging at his red dog ears, "I'm fine. Thanks for your concern.." she was lying, but how was she supposed to explain the things she seen? It was so vivid and a lot of it was horrifying. Adjusting to these.. illusions was difficult, especially the first three years. It got easier as she came to live with Akito, Yuu, Shin, and Maxi.. but the episodes still came now and then. She finished her sandwich, slipping from the counter and placing the plate in the sink. She looked to Akito, a frown forming on her face. Why do you never change when I have my hallucinations? Are you scary enough without them or something? She stared at the fridge, wanting a bottled water, but she feared having another run in with the crows..

"What're you two doing up..?" She asked, creating small talk. She wasn't the type for it, but her personality always opened up somewhat during her episodes. She always sought the company of others when the birds and demons plagued her mind and fooled her eyes.

Image"I understand, that you are more than capable, but still,....It'll put both of myselves at ease, if we knew you were alright."

His brow started to frown once he heard foot steps. That had meant that someone else was coming and to ruin his relaxed mood byu talking to Mariya. It wasn't that he wanted her all to himself, it was more like...Akito hated the world. It was hime VS the world. The only people he let in where Aki, Mariya if that, and Max sometimes. Still akito had his secrets like everyone else did.

It wasn't long before his eyes slowly fluttered open, locking eyes with the dark red haired man. The guy was tall, but just an inch shy from Akito, though the guys hair that spiked up, made it look like they were even in height. He also had some what of a strong hold about him and even though he was a guy of the arts, he still had that bad vibe.

Akito stared at him longer than necessary, sure the guy was good looking and the man was invading Akito's space right now, even the sight of another person got him in a bad mood. But something about him, made akito stare longer than intended. But when he caught himself doing so, he Tsked under his breathe and his once soft eyes were now cold and almost in a glare, specially after the guy had asked a question towards Mariya at Akito as if she wasn't even durable to respond for herself.

And just as he was about to crack out in a rude reply. She opened her mouth before him.

"I'm fine. Thanks for your concern.." It was a lie, even Akito could tell without her giving it away, he of all people knew, she was far from fine at the moment. He had watched as she slipped away from the countertop and placing her things away, but paused to frown at Akito. He didn't miss it, not in the slightest.

Unsure of why the frown was, it sort of angered him a bit, but he bit back his anger and kept himself composed. Thinking he must have been in the wrong some how for that frown, he stepped out of the way of the fridge and started to head out. "Im leaving.." The tone in his voice was cold and sharp, his face might have been composed but his voice wasn't hiding a thing.

Pausing just slightly he mumbled to Yuu for his ears alone. "Make sure she gets to her room safely." His eyes were threatening, but when he meanted her, his voice went a little on the soft side.

Skipping his midnight snack he headed straight out of the house and into his wing of the place. He had noticed Max was still there doing papers, so instead of heading to his bed, he laid himself down on the other couch and closed his eyes, throwing his arm over his face and his other on his chest, one leg up and the other foot rested on the floor. "You should get some rest Max...Tomorrow is going to be a big day..

“Make sure she gets to her room safely.”

A frown settled over his brow when he heard those words and the suggestive threat hanging over them, but was surprised when he felt only mild annoyance prick at his thoughts. No rage burning away at this consciousness, no adrenaline pumping into his veins, no red haze over his gaze, just a candle light bending over in the dark. This level of control was … unexpected. Daunting even. It didn’t mean he wasn’t still irked though, what with Mr. Grouchy implying that he’d leave Mariya alone like some thoughtless, cold-hearted scumbag. There was no need for threats. In fact, he was the one who had to tone down the doting. No young adult liked to be treated like a child.

Sighing, Yuudai stepped over the doorsill and made his way to the sink, humming Ravel’s Bolero as he picked up a cloth to clean the few paint smears willing to leave his skin without a solvent. It was going to be hell later trying to scrub that off. “Well, I don’t know about Mr. Grumpy,” he directed a frown at the door, where Akito had left to do whatever split personalities did at night "but to answer your question, Mariya, I was hanging out with an old friend of mine, insomnia. You might know him, kind of a jerk.” He smirked as he looked at her, even though he was cringing internally at how stupid that sounded. Maybe it was the song, yep, the song was the bad influence, drumming away in his mind in that lulling rhythm.

But that feeling was quick to fade as his eyes settled on hers. The lighting in this room was far from flattering, but somehow her violet eyes always gleamed and stood out wherever she was, giving him the urge to paint them. Leaving the old rag, he continued humming and tapping the notes on the countertop as he headed towards the fridge. “Then I also got hungry.” Pausing for a moment to study the contents of the fridge, he then grabbed whatever still looked edible, which wasn’t a lot, and a couple of drinks, mainly water and juice. There was no alcohol in the house, but that suited him just fine. “Do you want anything? I’d cook you something but I don’t think the kitchen would survive.” A light chuckle left him. Placing everything on the island in front of Mariya, he then turned around to snatch whatever was still in the kitchen cabinets, letting the music flow into its crescendo on his mind and on his lips.

It was so weird hearing himself talk so much. He had no idea why he was suddenly this content and hungry, or if Mariya was sheered by any of his sorry attempts at light heartedness or humor. She probably thought he’d lost his marbles. He certainly thought so. Increased appetite, upbeat mood… dammit, was he cycling? No, there was no need to freak himself out, he was just more relaxed than usual, that's all...

Slumping down on a chair next to the young woman, Yuu grabbed a few pocky sticks and just let one of them hover there in front of his eyes, lightly sawing along with the notes in his head. “So, what kept you up?” Then, as if remembering himself. “It’s alright if you don’t want to answer that. I understand.” Drowning out the lively orchestra, he glanced at her figure. ”We can talk about anything you like… or not talk, that’s also fine…” Realizing he was rambling, Yuu slapped a hand over his face to hide his embarrassment and let out a deep groan. “Sorry, just forget it.”

Max had heard the screams, and watched Akito run out of the room. He knew he need not bother with moving from his spot. He'd seen how these guys bounced off one another. He couldn't remember a time when they were seriously mad at one another that he couldn't fix. Max looked down at his papers, he'd finished his share a long time ago and had started on Aki's share. "Honestly.." He mumbled an ran a hand through his blueish-blonde locks. It looked like Aki had hardly started on his own share.

Max sits there working, and collecting his thoughts. He probably should go check on those guys soon, before they blow something up. He shook the thought away, he had to learn to trust them every now and again. He'd never given any of them his full trust, but he was being more lenient than normal lately. Max shook his head and tried to clear his thoughts so he could work faster. He went back to silently running his pen against the paper, and he'd nearly reached the end when he heard footsteps down the hall.

"You should get some rest Max...Tomorrow is going to be a big day.." Max heard Akito chime in behind him as he came back to his room.

Max turned and smiled. A small chuckle escaped the mans lips. "Is that right?" He turned back around and picked up his pen and collected the papers. He stuffed them into his inner suit pocket. "I'll just hold onto these and finish them up tomorrow morning." He gave a tired wave to Aki as he left. "Good night my friend." Max found himself stumbling into the hall way. He'd had a headache. He stopped in the hallway. He looked to the lower floor, with the kitchen. He shrugged as he decided to grab a glass of water and an aspirin. Max whistled on his way to the kitchen, so as to alert the others of his precense. He'd recently been trying to test this, so he would not startle anyone. He stopped as he hear movement in the kitchen. He stood in the door way and crossed his arms. His whistling ceased as he made his way into the kitchen.

He walked past Yuudai, and then past Mariya. He silently let them go about their conversation, interested in what they'd have to say to one another. Max reached up and grabbed the large glass he'd kept at the top of the shelves for himself. He went over to the sink and poured his water from there, he'd always done this and people thought he was weird for it. He silently sipped from his glass, his back to the two scientists. A small, worn out smile rest upon his lips as he listen.

Kimiko, though confused, followed Max around the house for the tour, walking quickly to keep up with the blue-haired male. Impulsively memorizing the info as it was told her, Kimiko matched doors with names and made note of all the entrances and exits. As they come to the last door Kimiko looks up at him as he speaks.
Seems miss Haruka didnt show, but I am sure that works in your favor, no?
As he chuckled Kimiko tenses, realizing he knew she wasn't who he had been expecting.
I will be with Akito for the rest of the night, contact me if you need anything my dear. Remember, don't go anywhere you shouldn't be at night. You'll get one chance with me.
Taking the key he handed her she unlocked the door to the room and slipped in silently before turning and relocking the door behind her. She then goes around the room to see if there were any windows or a second door, needing a good escape plan for tomorrow.

At the sound of a loud scream somewhere else in the house Kimiko swears under her breath and goes to double check that she had locked the door. ~Only an hour or so... Then I can sneak out when everyone's asleep again.~ As she paces back and forth across the room she tries to start thinking of an escape plan but, while being locked in the unfamiliar room, the only images that pop into her mind are memories from her foster homes. Thinking about her old life Kimiko sat down on the bed and stared at her hands intently, a firm frown on her face and her eyes glassy and emotionless.

Early Morning

Five in the morning. Shinya's normal time to rise, there were less insufferable questions to be asked then. He sleepily pawed the 'Off' button on his bedside alarm clock and sat up in bed. His silvery hair hung around his face in disarray, a picture perfect example of bedhead. He stretched, yawned, and rose. Much to do today, much to do... After a few light stretched, Shinya began his morning calisthenics routine. After feeling satisfied by his routine workout, he helped himself to a hot shower and set his personal tea kettle to boil. A cup of strong black tea helped bring his morning routine to a satisfying conclusion. A quick check of the current news stories of the day made Shinya very glad those kinds of troubles wouldn't burden his mind any longer due to his residency at the house. Well, for now. They might decide those bodies aren't worth the cost of keeping me in here. I dearly hope that day never comes, but I can't stop it if it does. Ah well. Must make the most of my time, I suppose. Shinya closed the news window and opened the folder on his computer where the lists of to-do experiments were kept. The next few hours were spend picking and choosing the best candidates to occupy his time and talents for the next few days. A smile slowly spread across his face as he read, imagining all the possibilities that were open to him. Today will be a good day.

Midday

Hours later, after Shinya's to-do list was complete, he stood and stretched. A busy month lay ahead. To much to do, so little time to actually do it. It's truly a shame that we need sleep, but I'll be testing the extent of that theory later on this month, it seems. Perhaps I'll bump it up, in order to not waste so much time and finish my other projects. Which will lead to more projects! How wonderful this house is! Shinya's excitement at the prospect of more experimentation was dulled somewhat by faint growling from his stomach. But first, lunch. Shinya crept from his room and headed for the kitchens, wondering if he'd meet someone in the hallway. Unfortunately, he didn't. At least, not yet. A quick sandwich was thrown together and consumed before Shinya headed back to his lab to begin preparations for the coming experiments. Hours of preparation. Shinya smiled at the thought, like a child anticipating a birthday or Christmas.

Night
Shinya, his preparations complete, stood back to admire the rearrangement of his lab. It would do, for now. His stomach grumbled again, snapping Shinya out of his fantasies of the coming days. More nutrition. Eating is a hassle. But there are bigger problems to solve than seeing if there would be a way for the body to feed itself without consuming itself. If only... nah. Modifying the structure of someone's DNA wouldn't show any effects for a few generations at least. I can't observe that unless I make myself immortal. Which... The thoughts dogged Shinya all the way to the kitchen, where he discovered he wouldn't be alone, for once. Two others, Mariya and Yuudai if he remembered correctly, were sitting in the kitchen. The former looking ashamed and embarassed, the other confused. He wondered if there was some way he could fix that. He raised a hand in greeting as he made his way towards the refrigerator.

"Well hello, friends. Late night? Burning the midnight oil? Got any problems I can help with? Hmm?"

He knew his reputation preceded him, but he did revel in some reactions he'd gotten over the years to his presence. He'd had some of the most exciting responses to his presence.

Mariya's eyes widened as she realized she'd said or done something wrong. Akito was his usual self again and seemed angry, but she wasn't sure which part of her reaction triggered the change in his voice, "Aki-" But he was already out of the room, "to.." Her eyes lowered, leaning against the counter and letting out a sigh. She always pushed people away when they attempted to come to her aid. She was an incredibly lonesome person before her accident.. she ran off the entire research team within a few days. Eventually they stopped even applying for the job as her infamous cold shoulder became the talk of the street. The more publicity she got, the more estranged she became to the public. She eventually stopped even going out for lunch it was so tense. Everyone expected her to explode when the truth of the matter was, feeling weak just embarrassed her. She just wanted to feel strong, whether it was a lie or not. She didn't have much control of her life after the accident so her wish to become 'bulletproof' per se, sort of grew ten fold.

“Well, I don’t know about Mr. Grumpy, but to answer your question, Mariya, I was hanging out with an old friend of mine, insomnia. You might know him, kind of a jerk.”[color]

Mariya's eyes raised to Yuudai, a feeble smile crossing her lips for a moment. [color=purple]Am I going to run everyone out of the kitchen.. I should be careful about what I say... If I hurt Akito... my words might damage anyone..
She chewed on the inside of her cheek with a deep breath before nodding at him, "Yeah, we're not friends. I try to kick him out of my room all the time.." She decided to play along, pretending that insomnia was a person instead of medical problem, "It's hard to sleep sometimes for me as well. Have you tried-" Then she instantly turned red as an apple. She nearly let out an embarrassing detail she could never reclaim. Yuu didn't look like the type that would share that information, but it still was top secret! They'd think she was a baby if she admitted she slept cuddling one of her pillows.

“Then I also got hungry. Do you want anything? I’d cook you something but I don’t think the kitchen would survive.”

She nodded, "Will you pass me a bottled water, please? I ate a sandwich. I'm just really thirsty.." she responded, considering that Akito already made the sandwich for her.. she just forgot to get a drink. She grabbed one of the water bottles that Yuudai placed it on the table. She took a drink, remaining simply to enjoy Yuudai's humming. She wasn't good at it, but she enjoyed music. She was often found with headphones on in her lab. Though anyone who step foot in her lab while she was working or otherwise was liable to be severely scolded. She took a seat finally, a proper one instead of sitting on the counter and listened in to the tall red haired male.

“So, what kept you up? It’s alright if you don’t want to answer that. I understand. We can talk about anything you like… or not talk, that’s also fine… Sorry, just forget it.”

She sat there with a blank expression for a moment, simply staring at Yuudai, before she began to slightly tremble. It wasn't long after that Mariya let out one of her rare fits of giggles, covering her mouth with her hand. She couldn't help it. Yuu had been here for years and to see him get nervous was too precious. The laughter came before she could even attempt to control it, "It's alright.." She noticed the crimson wolf ears poking out of his messy hair and frowned, realizing her plaguing hallucinations weren't done yet, "Just..the typical.." How else was she supposed to explain what she was seeing?

"Well hello, friends. Late night? Burning the midnight oil? Got any problems I can help with? Hmm?"

Mariya's laughter instantly stopped. She let out a shiver and quickly shook her head. Shinya wasn't a horrible person... he just... was far too obsessed with fixing things. She wasn't about to let him near her head, "Trouble sleeping.." She replied with the friendliest look she could muster. She didn't want to give anyone special treatment, but Shinya just sort of.. scared her sometimes.

Akito listened as Max left the room, leaving him now alone to continue with his thoughts. Tomorrow would be a new day, but it was a new day that Akito had always dreaded upon. Aki might not be wake when Akito was out, but when Aki was out Akito always remembers what is going on with him, all throughout the day, and when night falls, Aki sleeps and Akito has full control of his body.

Tomorrow, the Headmaster will be taking his visit upon us. In a way he was happy that he wasn't the one going to have to deal with him, but Aki will be. The Headmaster is another way of saying, he is the top. Once in a while he would show up at night, just to meet me, Aki's 'second half'. It was only due to because Aki never remembers me, but he always has faint memories that I really do exist. He, The Headmaster, also owned all of us, My two selves, Mariya, Yuu, and Shin. We're like his little lap dogs, or should I say human experiments. All but Max who was just hired by the guy to manly look after myselves, but he is also meant to manage all four of us and what we do, I guess in a way he is meant to make our lives easier, yet we never treat him like a butler or ask too much of him.
~Timeskip~
This is so I can make sure that everyone is on the right page. So just wing it and do your best, hopefully we don't need another time skip. So yeah, start fresh and wake up from your cozzzzzyyy little beds.

Image It was getting later, or should I say earlier than expected. Nearly 5am in the morning now. It was amazing how time flies. Akito had fallen asleep managed somehow to fall asleep in his bed for once, he was doing experiments all night long in the Alienlab room, his mind was lost, he didn't want to think about why Mariya could be mad at him, he didn't like the thought of her frowning at him and not understanding why. To ask would be above himself.

When Akito woke up, he was now Aki for the day. The thing is with these two, is the only way they would switch is if one fall asleep and lets the other control the body. That's how it worked. But it was only sometimes that Akito would force himself to take over no matter what, yet he only seems to do that whenever he is protect Aki from something or someone.

Rubbing his head, Aki slowly got up from the bed, the early morning light that tried to rise up to the sky had peeked it's way through his windows to say good morning. Hanging his head over his knees, he slowly started to unbutton his shirt a little. Slowly getting himself up in the morning, doing the daily morning due abouts. It wasn't until after the show that he felt himself truly wake up. I t was icy cold this morning, but that was probably due to it being too early of a morning.

After he was good and ready, dressed neatly and properly, he finally put on his glasses, though there was no point in the glasses, he had 20/20 vision, but he just liked to wear them for some odd reason. Grabbing some files and a few journals, Aki headed down to his first floor to his wing and walked outside and into the main building, to where everyone else had shared a living quarters. He took it upon himself to buzz the morning Alarm. Allowing everyone to wake up and it also told them that the Headmaster would be showing up today early morning.

Aki made his way into the living room, setting his things onto the table. It was something everyone had to do, bring their books that is, they had to make a report of everything they had or did in the past last time they seen the Headmaster. Aki was one of the very few who always ended up with a load of reports. Mostly half of them were locked with a book lock, so no one would get inside them, but Akito and the Headmaster, not even Aki or Max could get in to them.

Now all that was left was to wait on everyone to show up.....
