She finds the most comfortable clothes to be loose fighting when she's hanging out in her room in the forms of graphic hoodies, tee shirts, long sleeves, and sweat pants, comfort over looks is her style. But while out of her dormitory and not in the school unifroms and robes, and among her peers, she'll wear anything from jackets and jeans, to sweaters and hoodies, to sweatpants and t-Shirts. And when it comes to the more formal clothing, she'll either go with formal clothes in the form of jackets and jeans, or on the occasion dresses. She tends to lean more towards darker colors such as dark blues, reds, dark purples, and blacks. If she finds certain clothing uncomfortable or not her style, she will find a way to personalize it best to her ability and preference as well as comfortability.

Aside from clothing, she has two small 8mm guages, one in each of her earlobes. Among her body markings, she has an arrow tattoo on her left forearm. And as for odd markings, she has a few scars that scatter across her entire body, but none really stand out terribly so.

Jessie has piercing, dark blue eyes, with light brown and dull golden flecks in them, beneath expressive and full eyebrows. Because of her scars, she abstains from wearing a lot of skin-revealing clothing and because of that, when she goes outside she wears layers of clothing, regardless of the weather. Because of this preference, her smooth pale skin is almost ivory and is extremely soft to the touch.

She has a slim build that has been toned from keeping in shape and constant work-outs due to being the Quidditch captain. She has soft, plump lips that are of a rosy shade. Long, dark blonde, hair cascades down her shoulders and back in natural, soft waves and is almost always seen down or in pony tails. But, that's just what's on the surface, Jessie has scars all over her body, that she tends to keep hidden by wearing long sleeve garments or loose fitting clothes. Some people have asked in the past why and where they came from, all she ever says was that they were caused by an accident years ago, and that is the most that she has to say. As well as a plethora of scars from other things, mainly Quidditch, no one ever did say that it was the safest of sports, now did they?

Her three most noticeable traits, are that she is very skeptical of others, defensive, and somewhat scared, tending to keep herself at a distance, making sure that if the other person were to make a sudden move, she could try to easily counter in a defensive manner, due to her upbringing by her father. Teaching her to always keep her defenses up, as someone could easily use her vulnerability against her. But the counterpart to that, meaning the harder to disypher traits, is that she is very caring, loyal, and even to a certain degree, very clingy. Meaning that if you manage to get past her defenses and gain her trust, she will be more vulnerable, but to a point. And that is due to her mother and sister, they always taught her that no matter how bad the world had gotten, that she always had to let herself be vulnerable, and let her emotions take control of her every now and then. That it was okay to smile and laugh, and even sometimes cry, and that is one of the things she always carries around with her, the memory of no matter what, you have to remain true to yourself.

Aside from her cold exterior, she is actually a very vulnerable, and caring person. Once you can somehow gain her trust and loyalty, as well as time, you'll see that she's really a sweet, kind, selfless, protective, determined, loyal, and good hearted person. She just can't bear to lose anyone else, so she chooses to keep to herself unless it's someone she has a close bond to, then you'll know who she really is if you're lucky enough to get the chance.

If you manage to get to spend alone time with her, after gaining her trust, the real her will come out a little. She will be kind, sarcastic, make jokes, and even occasionally smile. And if she does smile, consider yourself lucky, as she hasn't smiled since the day her sister left home. But while in the company of two or more, she will remain guarded, and somewhat distant, but will tend to make jokes to ease the awkwardness that she may feel, as she never felt truly comfortable in groups. And while she is alone, she tends to get lost in her thoughts, mainly when life was what you could consider 'good'. Mainly with her family, her sister in particular. She'll sometimes think of jokes that she and her sister had, and will occasionally crack a smile due to it.

With adults she will be respectful and courteous, even if she does not agree with how they may be dealing with situations. She is a free thinker and will look at things in a more logical side of things, more so than emotions and feelings. Some say she is above her years in soul and mind, but she has just been through a bit for someone her age. While using her magic, she is a very powerful and gifted witch for her age. She is able to perform simple spells with utmost ease, and for the more powerful spells such as casting a Patronus, it will take consideration, but with easy focus she can hold the spell for some time, unless distracted or so on.

She is also a very gifted flier, being able to be a very fast broom rider as well as user, as she has spent many hours outside practicing in her free time, which eventually lead into her skills at Quidditch. She also has a gift with animals and can understand them better than she can with humans, in a sense she relates to how animals feel than fellow humans, which is why you can usually find her with the animals on the grounds if not in her room nose deep in a book. When in good company, she will easily be a good friend and entertainer, of sorts.

She can have a range of positive emotions if she is feeling the mood or mindset is appropriate at the moment. She has many quirks, good and bad, as that has added to her notoriety in the school among the faculty as well as students, both good and bad. As well as her being known as the Seeker and best member of the Slytherin Quidditch Team in recent years, rarely ever losing a game.

Carol Carter | Mother | Alive | Healer | 47 |
Jessie and her mother were never particularly close growing up, but in recent years the two have grown closer. Her mother was one of the first people she came out to and knew she was the better choice than her father, which had caused her to grow closer to her mother who is less prejudice and radicalized compared to her father.

Lucas Carter | Father | Alive | Former Death Eater | 48 |
Jessie and her father had never gotten along for as long as she can remember. They always seemed to come to a clash for whatever it was, always arguing. She never understood why her father was the way he is until she found out about his past, which he wasn't very discrete about his ways and views against people. Something that Jessie never understood or believed in. These two are more or less enstranged in recent years.

Rachel Carter | Sister | Alive | Dragon Tamer | 29 |
Jessie and her sister had been very close ever since she can remember, that was until her sister moved away for her job which she had gotten when Jessie had first started attending Hogwarts. The two often exchange letters back and forth whenever either ones has the time and Rachel is often the one she goes to to vent, and talk about some things in her life, even if she knows Rachel could care less.

H I S T O R Y
She was born as a the middle child to two Pure Blood parents, living among muggles in secrecy, as they thought it would be the easiest way for them to raise their children, until they had gotten older. As she had gotten older, five to be exact, is when her father began to drink, heavily. He was constantly drunk, and when he wasn't, he'd go out to get drunk. And while drunk he was always angry and quick to violence, more so than usual. She was seven when the abuse started, he started out only yelling and being more demanding, usually forcing her or her siblings to get him his beer, but as time when on it became emotional and physical abuse. Her father at least had the common decency to never abuse her. Then there was her mother, she and everyone pittied her. She was the doting housewife type, that did anything to try to keep the peace, but she was no saint. She started cheating on her husband by the time Jessica was ten, and she didn't hide the fact from her children.

Her father eventually found out, two years later when she was twelve, he found a used pregnancy test on the bathroom counter, and he confronted her, violently. He demanded to know who she was sleeping with, but her mother relented, resulting in her father beating her mother up infront of the children. As she stood there, trying to get him to stop, she screamed, the house shaking violently, causing her father to stop assaulting their mother. Her siblings were confused, as they didn't know that they were of magical decent. That was her first time that she was able to let out her anger and frustration, and it was on the person who made their life hell. Their parents kept their child's magical powers hidden from the world, as humans or "Muggles' were not so accepting of those with magical powers. But as time went on the children were separated as well as the parents separated, Jessie would start fights at school, mainly when older kids would pick on her for being the odd one, the loser, etc etc. the usual thing kids would do to bully fellow peers. When she turned twelve, she was enrolled into Hogwarts, allbeit her being sent there was considered a late student, as she was mostly considered 'too old' to be a first year. But as she proved to be powerful, almost too much for her own good, they accepted her, where she would reside every school year.

Ontop of that, she was also a unique student for not being a late enrollment, but as well as one of her hidden secrets and traits, the fact that she can talk to snakes. Something she had found out on accident when she was at a friend's house, and their pet snake had gotten loose, and wasn't found for three weeks, when Jessie was sitting down and waiting as her friend got a drink, the snake came out from hiding, and in her panic she had instinctively asked where it had been, and instead of hearing a hiss, she heard a voice from the snake. It had explained to her what had happened, she thought she was crazy, and talked with the snake and was told she wasn't crazy buy had a special gift and was to keep it a secret, and so she did. It was only when she was at Hogwarts the following few months that she looked at books to see if anything else explained of others being able to talk with snakes, when she came upon an old book that went into great detail about Parseltongues and how it is an inherited trait. She had practiced in private and in the woods surrounding the school talking with the wild and magical snakes, learning more of what she was able to do and how she could help them, furthering her love for animals, and finding that she could find friends with snakes, more than people.

But years had passed by, her secret hidden unknown to everyone besides herself, until she turned fourteen. She met someone that changed her life, for a while. It was a girl, a year older than her. She was kind-hearted and sweet to her when no one else was, and it was the first time she ever felt any sort of feelings for anyone, you could essentially call it love at first sight. They dated for two years and spent almost every day together, and she was the first person she told she could talk to snakes. She had thought she was crazy until she showed Sarah that she could, in fact, communicate with them. It helped show her that people, even Muggles could be trusted, as they didn't know that it was a magical trait. their lives were happy and nothing seemed to ruin it, even with the strange gift Jessie had, until a tragic event took place.

One day when they were casually driving with friends, when a truck driver came out of nowhere and caused the car to flip over several times. Thankfully they were both wearing their seat belts, or they would have both been killed. While Jessie only sustained a broken arm and fractured leg, her girlfriend Sarah had sustained much worse injuries, as she would soon find out. She had awoken inside a hospital room days later, to be told that her girlfriend was in a coma, and would most likely not wake up ever again, and if she did it was highly unlikely that she would be the same again. When Sarah eventually did awaken, months later, Jessie was one of the first to see her. To only come to the realization that Sarah couldn't remember who she was, never mind remembering who she herself was, or what had happened.

After many months of trying, Sarah told her to leave and stop trying. That she had no recollection of who she was, or feelings towards her anymore. That it would only continue to cause her pain and sadness to be around someone that couldn't even remember her own life and name, never mind someone else's. Jessie was broken-hearted by the fact that after everything she had been through, that everything she had done, she was told to leave. It has been two years since they have broken up, resulting to today. Where she has been attending Hogwarts for the past few years, resulting in her becoming a much stronger and skilled witch, as well as learning how to help others. Tapping into her healer abilities, and trying to figure out a way for her to try to help Sarah, if she can. As she does know using magic to make someone love you is forbidden, but now, it's for her to help Sarah remember who she herself is, and help lessen the pain and struggles in her life.

As her priorities are set, and she wants to become the best healer as well as witch as she can be, for not only Sarah or herself but for others like them. Now with things starting to happen at Hogwarts as best as the faculty tried to hide it from the students, Jessie as well as some longtime students have picked up on some odd occurrences and aren't sure on how to feel, for their safety as well as the safety of the new first years coming in, but what she does know is that she will do whatever she can to make sure the young students stay out of harms way, especially since The Battle Of Hogwarts still hasn't entirely healed from its wounds. Jessie hopes maybe she can help change that, especially now that she's been noticing some rather odd things going around on the school grounds, even if she isn't entirely sure of what it is.

Originally, Jessie was actually opposed to getting an animagus form when she was first asked about it, but after seeing her friends all get their forms, she was compelled to at least try to see what her form would be. It was only when it was revealed that her form was a rather small, albino raccoon. All of her friends had gotten amazing forms and she was stuck with a tiny racoon. But after being able to embrace the mayhem she could get up to after some consoling from Cas, as well as being unique as the fur was entirely white instead of the grey stripes, she has since had a knack of turning into her animagus form and hiding in her friend's robes when it trouble, or hitching a ride on someone due to the stubby legs this form has.

The smell of fresh smoke. The rumbling of voices echoed. The clatter of metal trollies scraping across the ancient station's stone brick floor, as well as the thudding of countless footsteps of first years. The old train station that secretly held the platform known as Nine and Three quarters was alive once again. First year students were mixed among the older students that were simply saying goodbye to their loved ones and got onto the train, as the young ones shed a few tears as they'd be leaving their wizarding parents or guardians for the first time.

Where were they off to? No other place than Hogwarts, the School Of Witch Craft and Wizardry. It was once the most popular wizarding school in the world, secretly tucked away in Scotland. Hidden away from Muggle knowledge, as well as the rest of the world, that was until May 2nd, 1999. A tragic event that shook the world by storm, The Batte Of Hogwarts. The Dark Lord, whatever else one may want to call him, Lord Voldermort who was once called Tom Riddle, and his band of Death Eaters and followers attacked the school simply for the last Horcrux, as well as Pure Blood Supremacy and to end all blood ties that weren't pure. But there was one thing that stood in his way, Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived and all the students that gave their lives to help defend the old school, and each other. But as years passed, the death of Voldemort and few of his underlings still hiding in the shadows, Hogwarts had since slowly come back to its former glory.

It has been two full decades since the Battle Of Hogwarts happened, and the reopening of the school. A handful of old professors returned to the school, as well as a few others. This would be a hopeful year for the students, as some are going for their last year, or their first year at the famous school. Students young and old said their goodbyes and slowly boarded onto the train.

That was two weeks ago...

The sun crested over the tips and walls of the ancient castle as the surrounding animals and wild life awoke with the rising sun. Most of the professors and staff were well awake for a few hours by the time came for the students to wake up and prepare for the day. After struggling to find themselves rolling out of bed, most half dressed by the time they hobbled into the Great Hall, still adjusting their uniforms, they split into groups for their respective Houses and sat down as they awaited for breakfast to be served with came in waves with varieties of food that would make any normal muggle salivate with a single smell. But for these students, it was all too common and familiar, almost immediately falling back into routine as they all woke up after finally getting some food into their bellies, well, some woke up faster than others.

Jessie was busy wiping the sleep from her eyes as she had fallen asleep far too late the previous night as the first few week gitters were still in her system. Even if it was her last year, she still felt a bit of anxiety course through her veins every year she came here, even if this was their second semester of this year. Some things just never changed apparently. But, some things did and some part of the young Slytherin could feel it. Something was off, ever since she stepped back onto the grounds, Hogwarts itself felt a bit off, even if the others didn't feel it. She was shaken from her thoughts as the tong of one of the first bells sounded, signalling they had thirty minutes left before they'd have to prepare for their morning classes.

All that the young blonde had on her mind to help distract herself from her thoughts was the fact that they'd be having a Quidditch game latter that day in the mid afternoon, with another one to follow later that night. First up would be Gryffindor vs Slytherin, and then Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw in the later hours of the day. They'd still have time, and at least she'd have something to look forward to. Not that things were ever a bore, especially considering she had all her friends, things were just tense, and she didn't think anyone else felt it, and if they did, damn were they doing a good way of hiding how they felt.

Jessie was about midway through her breakfast as she looked around the crowd of students, busily digging into their food. Her eyes scanned for a specific face, one she still didn't see since she woke up. Tilting her head to the side as she spoke, "You haven't seen Cas either right?" she asked the platinum blonde male Slytherin and wrapped one of her arms around his shoulder. "Assuming they've overslept again, huh?" she said teasingly to Eden. Removing a small piece of paper from her cloak, she quickly wrote something down and after casting a short enchantment spell, she watched as the paper formed into a small paper airplane and quickly dashed out of the Great Hall and disapeared out of sight. "That should help wake them up a bit, don't ya think?" the Slytherin teased as she put her wand back away in her cloak.

Leaning back over to Eden, laying her head on his shoulder, "You ready to fuck up some Gryffindors later today, mate?" she said with a jovial smile as she let him go from her iron grip, making sure her voice would have been heard by a few certain students that sat down from them by only a few chairs. Casting a small wink at one of the students, a certain red haired, female Gryffindor, before looking back away to her fellow House mates and listened to their ramblings as they finished their breakfast.

The morning sun began to streak its way through the large, stain glass windows of one of the dormitories as multiple figures were still fast asleep in their beds. Being back to the old routine after only two weeks of being back for the semester hadn't full set in yet, and often times some students were still fast asleep as others were already down to the Great Hall for breakfast. It was only when a piece of paper that was shaped like a poorly crafted airplane was sent under the crack of the dorm door and found its target in the ear of a sleeping red head. "What the fuck..?" a soft voice mumbled as the figure that received the pointed end of the paper to their ear sat up grumpily. Rubbing the sleep from their eyes, Castiella un-crumpled the paper and quickly read it over, their eyes widened. "Oh shit! We're gonna be late, again! Shit!" they cursed, tossing the blankets off of them as they quickly jumped out of bed, taking a few pillows and tossed one each at the other three sleeping forms in their respective beds. "Kai! Lex! Elise! We overslept, again! Hurry up and get dressed or we're gonna be late...Well, later than we already are!" they shouted, bare feet stumbling across cold, hard wood floors sent them quickly running to find socks. Seeing as it was still just getting into spring, someone must have forgot to set the heater in the room to go all night, which would explain the cold air in the room.

Cas came back a few short minutes later as they had finished changing into their uniform as they finished up brushing their hair and applied as minimum of makeup as they could within a few short minutes. "They're gonna kill us if we're late like this again, already. Ya'll already know the drill. I take the heat for it and you get off as easily as they'll allow. Got it? Besides, they can't be too mad at us...We're only...thirty minutes late for breakfast, fantastic." their voice dipped off into a minor mumble as they checked their watch on their left wrist. Looking back up at the others that had finished getting dressed, "Alright, let's go already, bitches." they gestured as they flung the dormitory door open and began to make their way out of the room behind the other three, while struggling with their tie as the small group made their way to the Great Hall.

The small group stumbled down the halls as they tried to quicken their pace, they needed to get there for at least fifteen minutes. Cas would feel bad if they had made everyone late and had them miss out on getting their breakfast. The four exchanged small talk and jokes as they made their way towards the main archway to the Great Hall. "Monroe? A word, if you please?" a voice called out, which caused Castiella to stop and turn their head nervously to where the voice had called from. Cas gave a small wave and gestured with their hand to give them a moment. "Hey uh, you three go on ahead, I'll just be a moment." the Hufflepuff said with a small smile as they turned and made their way over to the figure that had asked to speak with them.

Castiella shambled over with a coy smile on their face, leaning against the wall, "Morning, Professor." Cas said nervously, ringing their hands together. "I trust you slept well, Castiella." the professor said with a chipper smile. Cas sighed as they rubbed their face, "How much trouble am I in?" preparing theirself for the worst. The old woman sighed, placing a gentle hand on the student's shoulder, "Just try to keep them in check, yes? This may be your last year, but Cas. You can't drag them down with you. It's your duty as an older student, the Quidditch Captain, and most importantly Prefect to be an example." Cas gave a small nod of their head, rubbing the back of their neck as they did so, "I know...I know. I'm sorry. Things are just, rough. You know. I'll try to be better, but I will have to take this next meeting off...If that's okay?" the old professor gave Castiella a small smile, "I understand. You don't need to apologize. Just, go get some food, maybe that will wake you up a bit." Cas gave the woman a smile, "Thank you, McGonagall. I owe you." they gave the headmistress a small nod and smile before turning and made their way back to the Great Hall, and found themselves making their way to where their friends were. Cas took their seat in the middle of two of their friends, "Boom..." Cas poorly imitated the sound of an explosion as they placed their head on their hands that were placed infront of her on the table, looking up at Lex, "They're gonna kill me one of these days, I can feel it...Or worse, gonna get expelled." Cas muttered teasingly before lifting their head from the table and placing it on Lex's shoulder as they sighed.

xxxpassing every face you see the first time

The adjustment to Hogwarts' early starts never came easy to Eden. Usually, he was lucky if he was fully awake by the time his first class began. But the excitement of a Quidditch match later had Eden feeling a little more energetic than usual. He had to make it through a morning full of classes first, but Slytherin-Gryffindor matches were among the most intense and the most exciting, and the thought of that alone was probably going to be enough to keep him awake.

He shook his head, his mouth full of food, as Jessie asked if he'd seen Cas, leaning in to the contact as she wrapped her arm around him. He watched as the paper airplane took off. "Come to think of it, the whole Hufflepuff table looks a little empty this morning," he remarked. In reality, it looked just as full as the others, but the few that he tended to notice were missing.

"Oh girl, you know I'm ready to kick some Lion ass," he retorted, seconding her glance towards Cassie. "Oh, there's the badger stragglers," he remarked as they entered the hall. It felt good to be back at Hogwarts. Being back with his family was always nice, especially now his mom was making a little more of an effort, but god, he missed the people of Hogwarts. There was always just so much life, always something happening, always some new gossip.

"So. I heard there's going to be a Valentine's Ball as part of this tournament. So come on, spill, babe, who are you thinking of asking?" He asked, spinning to face her properly on the bench. "Anyone... particular in mind?" He added. "Like a certain Gryffindor?" He asked, dropping his voice low enough that only she'd be able to hear him, and instinctively leaning away as he braced for her reaction.

Cassie was way too excited to actually sleep well on her first night back. It had always been this way for her for every time she came back her. The red head was just always so ecstatic to see all her friends again and be in the halls of Hogwarts to really want to sleep and wait for the first official day back.

That was what the girl would miss most about being graduated from this place. She was going to miss all the people she could have a conversation with or all the intense Slytherin-Gryffindor quidditch games and yes, Cassie was even going to miss Harvey and his little breakdowns. So when it rolled around to six in the morning Cassie was already in her robes and sitting on her bed until it was a bit more of an acceptable time to bother people.

Immediately as sound could be heard throughout the entire area, Cassie pushed her way out into the common area, to which she hadn't even seen Shane quite yet. Her eyes continued to scan the room and so far she could spot her little sister and a few others, until she saw it. The furrowed in eyebrows, the lips pressed together almost as if they refused to talk, it was Shane and immediately she walked over to him and lightly poked his side.

"Mornin' knuckle head. Don't be too grouchy okay?" She said giving him a looking and wagging her finger in front of him before she walked off. She knew it was a bad idea to stay linger around him, so she ended up walking towards the great hall and grabbing a seat.

By the time most of the people were in the Great Hall, Cassie had been sitting between Mac and Harvey, and she was about to say something to them when she could hear a voice in the distance. She could feel the shift on her face as a grin spread across it.

"You wish you even stood a chance!" Cassie said loud enough for Jessie and Eden to hear her. Then she turned to Mac and Harvey.

"Did you guys put your names into the tournament?"

Shane was one of the few students to stay back at Hogwarts when everyone else went back to their families for Christmas break. With not much of a family life outside of Hogwarts, or even in the school grounds, he didn't have much of a reason to leave for the holiday. Family matters were a messy situation that he didn't feel like getting involved in, and hadn't looked back to going back home during breaks ever since his third year. Not like his family wanted him back anyway. He was seen as nothing but trouble, and kept to himself when he did go home, locking himself in his room and just staying to himself. Less trouble for others, and less of a pain in the ass for him having to deal with people.

McGonagall was one of the few people that understood Shane's reason for staying, and gladly accommodated him each time, making sure he had everything he'd need and left him to his own devices, but always left her office door open to him if he ever needed anything. Which, was few and far between, but he did come to her with more questions, which sadly she didn't know anything that was of any help. His birth parents were an enigma to everyone, even her. Shane wasn't looking forward to when the others would return, he liked the quiet and peace he had in the castle, and the dorm rooms. But, it wouldn't last long, and on que as always, two weeks later everyone was back, and things were going as smoothly as he knew they would in the following weeks since then.

Waking up again at early hours wasn't something he struggled with, if anything it kept him in routine and in pattern. It helped him at least know a few things about his life and who he was, and that's all that mattered. He was wide awake in the common-room about two hours earlier than everyone else, reading a book by the fireplace before the first toll of the morning bells signaled it was time for breakfast. He finished putting his book down on the side table by the time a familiar voice called out to him as she poked him in the side. Cassie Lightborn. One of the Gryffindor Quidditch team members, part Veela, and one hell of an annoying presence that was a constant thorn in his side. But, he couldn't deny that she had her charm about her, and she was one of the least annoying people he knew, even if she did tend to bother him. With a heavy sigh, he rolled his eyes at her comment, "I wasn't going to, but you might have just ruined it, Red." he called out. Shaking his head for a moment before he too began to make his way to the Great Hall for some food before classes started.

Shane entered the Great Hall a few short minutes later, and felt all eyes go on him for just a fraction of a second before people went back to whatever they were doing if it wasn't filling their faces with food or spreading gossip. He made his way down the aisle to his seat at the Gryffindor side as he heard one of the Slytherin's heckle the Gryffindor team, as they had a game later that day. Without even making eye-contact or any indication to acknowledge the person, he brushed passed the girl in question, pushing her into the table slightly as he silently walked past. "The fuck is your problem, mate?" Jessie called out as she had spilled some water all over her from being pushed into by Shane. Who simply gave a small shrug of his shoulders as he continued to walk down to his spot and take a seat, which was far away from the others. He looked back up across the way to make the briefest of eye-contact with the Slytherin Seeker, and gave a silent wink before turning back around, eating his breakfast.

xxxWelp, Raegan and mornings never go well together in the same sentence. So it's no surprise they chose to sleep in rather than wake up early and have enough time to get ready and look presentable. After just barely washing their face and brushing their hair, they strutted down to the Great Hall excitedly. They had a Quidditch game scheduled for today and they were more than ready to get back on their grind, plus it was against Gryffindor and winning against their long-time rivals (even though it was mostly just for fun now) would be great for their ego.

Rae trained every day on Christmas break with their father, and now that it was their last year at Hogwarts, they had to make an impression if they planned on going pro. So this last few months: no distractions, no (unnecessary) flirting, no big elaborate pranks. Or at least that's what they told themselves.

Once in the Great Hall they passed by a few other students, like their fellow teammates Jessie and Eden, giving them both a smile and a thumbs up, signaling they were happy and ready for the game. Then proceeded to sit down in front of none other than Rose. No surprise there either, both were not only roommates but also pretty darn close.

"Hey Rose! Have you seen Raul? Couldn't find him this morning," they had fallen apart just before the break and Rae was trying to mend their relationship back together, in spite of her ego. So she spoke of the first thing that came to mind, her rat, and tried to maybe get Rose to actually talk to her other than formalities.

Mac hated Christmas. Not a popular opinion to have among her peers, but it was true. It had nothing to do with the weather, or decorations, or an abundance of grinchy tendencies, just that the holiday season hadn’t held a lot of cheer for her since Mac was ten. Christmas meant either empty halls in a too quiet castle, or awkward stilted silence with her mother in her boyfriend’s new townhouse. Living in the muggle world was like trying to fit herself into a skin that was too small, too itchy to keep on for long. It was claustrophobic, not to mention exhausting trying to play act at being something she wasn’t. It was a farce she’d never been able to keep up for long, and there lay the problem. Her mother never said it aloud, but Mac knew magic made her uncomfortable. Andy, Mac’s step father to be if she was reading the signs right, was a nice man, as average and muggle as they came. He had no clue what Mac was, nor had they ever really made it past the stilted pleasantries of near strangers enough for her to believe that was ever going to be a wise thing to change. Magic had ruined one chance at love and happiness for her mother, the least Mac could do was not sabotage her second. So mostly Mac just stayed at Hogwarts for the holiday, and no one ever protested too loudly, if at all. It was just easier for everyone that way.

Mac wasn’t alone at Hogwarts exactly, there were others even in her own house, like Coal and Shane, who usually stayed as well. But Shane was well…Shane, no amount of holiday misery bonding was really going to change that, and even Coal tended to be unusually...quiet. It was the only time of year Hogwarts felt cold to her, though Mac infinitely preferred staying in the only place that had felt like home to her in a very long time. Still, it left her antsy, anxious for a return to the usual noise and bustle of students in the castle. Excitement pent up during the weeks of their absence. So if Mac went a little overboard once everyone returned well...who could blame her really? Harvey apparently, as he gave her an impression of his best ‘disapproving prefect’ stink eye as he blandly ate his oatmeal. They both knew who was behind the army of purple origami otters currently running amok across the Hufflepuff table, and her smug glance as she watched a few of her brave little minions nestling up into the dark curls of Roan’s hair did nothing to dissuade her friend's suspicions. Mac had been on something of a tear lately, not unusual for the first couple weeks back, but considering they had a game today, her focus was usually more single minded toward quidditch.

“For the love of Merlin, please tell me that’s all you did.” Harvey groused with a sour look, watching as some of the otters started swimming figure eights in some of the goblets of unsuspecting Hufflepuffs, including their Care of Magical Creatures Professor, who had picked up a few to take with him to the staff table so he could examine them more closely. The far more amiable of the Leahy Professors seems to have befriended her little creatures, which...wasn’t really surprising given what she knew of the man. “Now?! Really?! We have a game today Mac, I think Professor Leahy might actually murder me if we lose.” Harvey hissed, appearing genuinely nauseous at the thought of reporting into their head of house should they not perform at their absolute highest caliber today. A quick glance at their DADA professor and her sharp green eyes burning a hole in Mac’s back was all it took to know that the head of Gryffindor had also pinpointed very quickly who was behind the lavender otter hoard menacing the Great Hall, though so far she’s made no move to stop it. Mac shot her a cheeky grin, which earned a golden brow raised in return. “Gibs, I am shocked and offended by those hurtful accusations. How could you ever think me capable of such a thing?” Mac shot back a transparent denial. Coal’s snort was immediate, but he didn’t comment further.

“I would never-” Mac’s defense was suddenly cut off by a loud series of popping noises emanating from farther down the Gryffindor table, pink glittery foam bubbling forth from Orion’s bag, sticky and clinging stubbornly to anything it touched, namely the boy in question as it grew larger and began spreading out and up. “Do any such thing to someone we're playing against today…” Mac finished with a sour look of her own. She was going to have to tinker with the formula there a bit. That little present wasn’t supposed to go off until potions class.

“The sparkles were a nice touch.” Coal added mildly. “Maybe a pinch of itching powder next time though to really give it some flare..” Mac’s eyes lit up at the suggestion. Now that was some helpful feedback, so not a total loss it seemed.

Harvey’s eye honest to god twitched. This was it, today was the day they drove him over the edge. There was a nice padded room waiting for him in St. Mungo’s, because reining in this bunch was driving him insane! Between Mac’s antics, Coal cheering her on, and now Shane actively antagonizing the Slytherin quidditch team, there was never a moment’s peace. Cassie retorting back at the Slytherin team’s heckling was fair enough, but that was all it took for Cal to jump up in his seat no doubt prepared to start spouting a litany of taunts all his own, and Harvey had to physically yank him down by the shirt tail. “Sit down and eat your breakfast. Protein go!” Harvey barked, and the younger Gryffindor chaser grudgingly complied, shoveling a whole slice of bacon in his mouth as he chewed with a pointedly grumpy look at the Slytherin table. Cal was a good kid, but a little excitable sometimes. Harvey didn’t need him doing something stupid to get tossed out of the game before it had even started.

As Cassie turned the subject to the tournament, Harvey’s demeanor became a bit more uncomfortable. Of course he’d signed up, how could he not? It was a proving ground only a handful of witches and wizards each generation were chosen worthy to even compete in. And there was the problem. Signing up wasn’t the same thing as being chosen. There was a part of him dreading the upcoming ceremony, that knew what the goblet’s decision was going to be. Harvey had never exactly measured up to the Gibson name, his famous siblings each shining stars in their respective fields. How was he ever going to look any of them in the face again after so public an admission of his inadequacies? Part of him didn’t even want to admit having signed up, plausible deniability and all that, but Cassie had asked, and he wasn’t going to lie about it either, so instead he just nodded, pensively taking another bite of his oatmeal.

“Yeah, did you?” Mac replied to Cassie’s question cheerfully, and Harvey was glad to let her take over the conversation from there.

Jessie chuckled as Eden confirmed that he was ready to kick some Gryffindor ass later, which she was looking forward to greatly. She felt the corners of her lips curl into a grin as Cassie called back with her own quip, "We'll see, if you decide to show up on the pitch that is!" Jessie retorted. Looking back at Eden, as he shifted his position on the bench so he could look at her properly. She tilted her head quizically for a moment as he brought up the Valentine's Dance they were going to be hosting for the Tournament this year. She rolled her eyes as an exasperated sigh escaped her lips, which quickly turned into a clenched jaw and furrowed eyebrows at her friend's next comment. Quickly getting a good right hook in his arm as he tried to get away, "I honestly don't know what you're talking about. I don't have any date in mind, nor do I plan on going, honestly." she retorted under an equally hushed voice as she shot him a heated glare for a moment. "Besides, if I had anyone in mind, why the hell would it be Gryffindor? They're all a bunch of stupid and pret-uh...Pretentious assholes that I have no interest in whatsoever." she recovered quickly. Brilliant save, Jessie. Truly. Barely being able to catch herself as her mind scrambled to find the right words.

"And for that, I hope you get taken out by a Bludger later toda-" Jessie was cut off mid-sentence as she was suddenly pushed forwards into the table by someone passing behind her. Causing her to lose her grip on her cup and spill water all over herself. The young Slytherin shot her head over her shoulder to see Shane quickly stomping his way down the aisle between the tables, "The fuck is your problem, mate?" she shouted at him, only receiving a small shrug of his shoulders in a response. Tossing her hand up quickly for a moment to give him a quick middle finger, before turning back around.

"Scratch that, I want him to get taken out by a Bludger." she mumbled back to Eden, grabbing something to help dry her off. "I honestly don't know what I did to piss that jackoff off so badly, but at this point I don't even care. i just want it to stop." Jessie muttered. Her eyes scanned the room to see Shane sitting down at his table, returning his smirk with her own thousand mile glare. Maybe if she stared at him long enough he'd combust. One could wish anyway, god knows how many people would pay to see that happen.

"Well, now that my morning has been officially ruined, I really am glad we get a game today. I need something to hit." Jessie grumbled. There were very few people that genuinely pissed her off in this school, and even fewer people that she enjoyed being in their company of. And sometimes, even those people couldn't help out way the countless assholes that resided in each house. "How much trouble do you think someone would get in if...I don't know...Somehow Shane's hair were to somehow turn purple? Or even green? I know he hates green. Especially...bright green? Like Slytherin Quidditch uniform green." she questioned Eden, "Hypothetically speaking, of course?" the young Slytherin gave her friend a small wink and smile before going back to finish the last few bites of her food before classes started, seeing how they had Potions first meant things were going to be tense right off the bat, which was just wonderful and exactly what she needed with how her day was going so far. If things were going like this so early on, hell knows what the rest of the day held in store for her. And she was not in the mood for any of it.

Cas shot Elise a short look as the half Veela told her not to worry about it, or that she can take the heat next time they got in trouble, thanks to her Veela charm, getting away with things happened to be easy. Well, easier anyway. While Cas did appreciate the perks it came with, they knew they couldn't abuse that so much, that and they needed to step up in matters of being a Prefect. "I think it's best we don't uh...Abuse that as often anymore...I don't think we can get away with it all the time, El. But I do appreciate it." Cas said with a small chuckle. Giving her a playful wink, as well as returning the heart-shape gesture to Elise before turning their attention to the tables across the room, seeing a bit of a commotion going on between Slytherin and Gryffindor. Their jaw clenched slightly as they tried to notice what was going on.

Cas arched an eyebrow as they somewhat heard Elise's question, taking a moment to try to piece together it fully. "Oh uh, I'm actually not sure yet. I know it's part of the Tournament and everything but, I may pass it up. But, we could always go as a group, like you said. But don't let me stop you from all finding dates, ya know? I want you all to be able to enjoy yourselves." they said with a smile, before looking back over as they heard voices shouting off in the same direction as before. A small growl erupted from their throat, which sounded more like an annoyed groan as they could feel their blood coarse through their veins, a small burst of anger crept through them easier than it would otherwise, seeing as the fullmoon was tonight, which would explain why they slept in so late again. "Excuse me for a moment, ladies...I'll be right back. Just give me a second to deal with something." Cas flashed them a quick smile before standing up, and began to make their way across the room towards the commotion between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Just being able to make out that it was Shane clearly bothering Jessie and her friends. Of course he did, why wouldn't he? He was always being a royal tool, and Cas wasn't sure if it was them being a werewolf that made them prone to annoyance, or just Shane existing at all.

The Hufflepuff took a deep breath, as they formed a tightened fist by their side as they sauntered over to the long haired, male Gryffindor. "I'm just gonna say this once...And once only..." dragging their black painted nails across the table to the cup in front of Shane, holding it with their hand, and took a sip. Water. Perfect. Cas flashed him a small grin before swiftly dumping it onto his head. Water spilling all over him. "You fuck with my Snakes again, or anyone else for that matter, and we'll have issues. Do you fucking understand that?" they questioned. Shane simply shook his head as he attempted to dry himself off.

"I don't know what you're problem is...But how about you fuck off-", Shane started as he turned towards Cas. Who simply only grabbed him by his shirt, and pushed him into the table. "I don't give a single flying fuck what you have to say. But you pull something off like this again, I will bring it to the Professors, and I really don't think it would look good on you for that. Now would it?" Cas mused. Shane clenched his jaw as he looked up at the Hufflepuff, "No...No it wouldn't." he replied dryly. Cas returned a wry smile, "Good. Now sit the fuck down and leave them alone." Cas said as they released his shirt from their grasp as they stepped back, finally looking around to see that dozens of students and even some teachers had stopped and been watching the entire encounter unfold.

Castiella straightened out their clothes, "What?" they said with arms raised, as if encouraging anyone else to try something. The other students simply shook their heads and went back to their business, not getting involved. "Good..." Cas huffed, shoving their hands back into their pockets as they made their way back to the table, casting a quick glance up at the few teachers that were in the Great Hall eating breakfast as well. Ronan, the Quidditch coach for Slytherin shot them a small wink and nod of approval before going back to her food. As Castiella made their way back, they noticed several origami otters fluttering around the Hufflepuff table, taking a quick glance at Mac, they stuck out their tongue and flashed her a wink. Sitting back down next to Lex, Cas let out an exasperated sigh, "Sorry about that...I smelt some bullshit and just...ya know...Did what I do best." Cas gave a small wink to their friends.

"But in other news, as for the Tournament. I so put my name in. Even if I'm not chosen, it's worth to put my name in, seeing how it's my last year and all. Figured why not. Might as well try." they shrugged, turning to grab at least some food while they still could. Mainly just some bread, two apples, while also dropping a few cookies into their pockets for later. Truly was a miracle how their robes were always kept clean and not stained with food by now.

"But, what I was thinking is...For those that are picked by the Goblet, we should maybe all hold bets to see who lasts the longest before they tap out. See who cries first, ya know, the usual that we've heard rumors about from other people." Cas said with a small chuckle and grin before going back to eat some more food before classes started. But their mind was busily focused on the fact it was going to be a full moon that night, they'd need to figure out some way of getting out of the castle again, they were slowly running out of viable options and excuses, and they weren't one to reuse answers. God forbid someone catch onto it and figure things out before they had a chance to explain for themselves, yet again.

Ophelia Prescott

|Slytherin | Pure-Blood | #BC7EB7|

Ophelia was always one of the last few people to come out of the commons room or to head to the great hall. It was overall safer for her instead of walking in the big crowds, or for her to go too early that if she tripped and fell no one would be there to help her back up. A sigh escaped from her lips as she brushed her hair for the hundredth time, just making sure it was smooth or just giving her something to do to let time trickle past.

She wondered what it would be like if she got the chance to live life normally. Go down to breakfast with her classmates at the same time, jab each other in the ribs, or even if she could fly on a broom perchance. It was all a heavy weight that she felt on her day to day life and there was no escape. Instead it was her lying in bed just watching something on Netflix that she downloaded the night before coming back to Hogwarts. But she only had so many episodes left before some of them would time out.

She would do this until everyone was up or majority of everyone was up, and then she would move on to opening her trunk and finding her robes, brushing her teeth and getting dressed. Lia would sit on the edge of her bed and just listen for the murmurs to calm down in the common room. She could always hear something, whether that was different conversations going on or it was people laughing out there.

By the time she started to walk out into the common room it was empty or relatively close to it. It felt lonely to say the least, and she could feel the pit in her stomach as everything was getting to her today. It was days like today that the coldness really settled into her bones and made her uncomfortable, Ophelia felt lost and angry with herself all in the process.

Her mother came to mind and she couldn't help but feel the bubbling anger that let her feel as though it was all her fault. She wanted to break something and then break down, but instead she just resorted to calming herself down one breath in a t a time.

The one truly helpful thing was the growl of her stomach that signaled she definitely wanted breakfast and she was going to go down to get it.

Ophelia left the room and began on her trek to climb up the stairs to get into the main part of the castle. She took her time as the last thing she would want to do is slip and fall back down on them. It has led her to be in so much more pain than she's felt in a long time.

As she came out from the dungeons she could smell breakfast and hear that chatter from all the students and she felt hopeful and happy for a moment. Hearing all the people and knowing she would get to interact with them for a few moments before they had to all waft out to class, was a nice feeling. She could feel semi normal in the great hall, and she was fairly sure that it was one of her favourite parts of the day, aside from just being curled up on the couch in the Slytherin common room.

As she entered the hall, she could see Cas over at the Gryffindor table and for a moment she found herself stuck watching them as they interacted with Shane. It stifled a bit of a laugh from her, and in some way Ophelia felt bad, but she was sure Cas wouldn't do something like that for no reason.

Walking over to the Slytherin table, she could hear her feet against the floor as she finally made it to the part of the bench Jessie and Eden were on and she sneaked her way onto the bench next to Eden and immediately placed her head on his shoulder. The pair were used to just leaning on each other whenever they were in class or in the great hall. It was either a way of saying hello or 'hi I'm mentally exhausted today.' in the moment Ophelia was both.

"What's the hot new gossip around here?" she questioned softly to both Eden and Jessie. She wanted to feel like she was part of the group and part of whatever was going on that she had briefly witnessed and missed for whatever reason.

Cassie was not surprised that the chaos began to rise at the Gryffindor table. Mac and Coal were awake and it would only be a certain amount of time until Kit got in on it as well. Cassie was actually being quite tame today all things considered, she knew sometimes her and Mac would plan little pranks during dinner just to watch Harvey's reaction. Which almost as if it were on cue or something, Harvey was having a reaction to this morning.

Now?! Really?! We have a game today Mac, I think Professor Leahy might actually murder me if we lose.” Cassie couldn't help but stifle a laugh as Harvey was scolding Mac a little bit.

"Dear naive Harvey, losing has never been an option for us. We're simply the best." Cassie said, trying to boast a little more as she looked directly at Jessie with the intention of hearing what she had to say. "I mean, especially when we play against Slytherin. They're destined to lose." It was in that moment that she could feel her heart race a bit more and to Cassie she's always chalk that up to just the rush of talking smack, but talking smack against Slytherin to Jessie was a different feeling entirely. Probably just because Jessie was her rival in almost everything and they fought about stupid shit all the time.

It was in that moment that Cassie watched as Cal was trying to get up in his seat to say something, but Harvey pulled him back down, “Sit down and eat your breakfast. Protein go!”

Cassie gave Cal a light back on the back and leaned over and whispered to the younger Gryffdinor, "One day, I promise." She said with a small smile.

When Mac replied that she had put her name in and asked if Cassie had, she nodded her head. "Why of course I did. I love a good competition. Anything to prove I'm the best." The redhead said, showing a giant smile as she fake gloated about herself. If she couldn't try to boost her confidence up by any sort of means then what was she going to do?

It was at that moment that she noticed Cas was over at their table, and she had to blink her eyes for a moment, when did they get here? Cassie watched as Cas dumped water over Shane, and she did everything to hold back a giggle, so her hand was placed promptly over her mouth. As Cas left to go back over to the Hufflepuff table, Cassie gave them a high five.

"I will be back." Cassie said as she slipped out of her seat and headed over to the Slytherin table. She plopped herself down next to Jessie and began to pick up a piece of toast from her plate. "What did Shane do now? need me to accidentally send a bludger his way or something?" the redhead asked with a big grin before she took a bit of the toast that she stole from Jesie's plate.

"I think your toast is better than mine, at least you got that going for ya." She said teasing Jessie a bit. "Could probably just some jelly or something, is there any near by?"

Kiara continued on with her reading of the article, she enjoyed reading about innovations and the way in which people were mimicking other innovations to create something entirely different. Instead though she continued on with her witty banter her brother had to offer.

The brunette could hear a small soft voice and it alerted her senses more than the yelling and stupid comments going around, those were normal, but a soft voice was not. Her eyes looked up to see Seong standing there and for a few moments she analyzed the student. She had seen a little bit of Seong, but she hadn't fully introduced herself or gotten to know her.

Kiara felt it was better to make friends with someone you don't know because you never know what they could offer or you never know when you'll need the bridge. Besides maybe she'd be a good source for her blog posts about all things drama.

"Of course, it would be my pleasure to have you sit beside me, Seong." Kiara spoke with a smile on her face and gestured to the seat next to her.

"How are you this morning? Finding everything okay?" She asked.

She could hear all the commotion going on down by the Gryffindor table, and she just rolled her eyes. She did think there was some humour to it, but if she was caught in stuff like that and her parents found out, it would be game over. Kiara just stayed out of trouble and continued on with her own stuff.

This did mean though that Kiara was trying to keep an ear open, she had been listening to everything in hopes that maybe there was some sort of scandal going on or something that would be newsworthy. She would have to talk to Eden more to get insight later, perhaps she could steal the seat next to him in potions.

Cassie’s reaction to their bad-mouthing made Eden laugh as he returned Raegan’s thumbs up. He pitied the staff members that were going to have to deal with them during the day as they all waited and just got more and more excited for the game, a thought that was further proven by Jessie continuing the bad mouthing.

He knew by Jessie’s reaction what was about to come and saw the punch coming but didn’t move out of her way quickly enough to avoid taking the right hook to the arm. It hurt like hell, but it just made him laugh. Her comments about the Gryffindors just made him teasingly raise an eyebrow and take a long drink out of his glass. Shane’s arrival and actions provided a welcome distraction though. Eden handed Jessie his napkin to help her dry off as well. “He’s just a dickhead, sweetheart.” His face lit up at the suggestion of revenge. “Oh… I don’t know. They’d have to get caught first, of course. But if they roped in a few others and just happened to know a metamorphmagus who could shift the blame… well, who’s to say?” He mused. The arrival of a certain redhead to the Gryffindor table made Eden’s grin widen. He nudged Jessie’s leg with his and tipped his head towards Shane and Cas. “Looks like Mama Cas is dealing with him for us. I bet we- er, whoever would hypothetically dye his hair green could rope them in to help.”

Eden didn’t have to look and see who it was that was leaning their head on his shoulder. He knew almost instinctively who it was by their gentle manner. He leaned his head against Ophelia’s momentarily to comfort her. “Shane was being a dickhead and Cas just dealt with him for us. And we’re discussing the Valentine’s Ball. Are you gonna be coming, Ophelia?” He asked.

Cassie arrived on the other side of Jessie, and Eden leaned forward to look at her. “Hey, Cassie, we’re talking the Valentine’s Day Ball. Are you going? Got anyone special in mind for a date?” He asked, keeping the look on his face innocent so he’d be less likely to have a bludger aimed directly for his face later.

Jessie’s attention managed to be broken up part way when she heard a small scuffle coming from the direction she had been looking at previously. Familiar, but hushed voices seemed to be having a conversation, and the young Slytherin looked back over her shoulder to see Cas having pushed Shane into the table, and was clearly threatening him. She couldn’t help but form the smallest of smirks on her face at the not so subtle display between the Gryffindor students and Hufflepuff Prefect. Shane was an utter asshole, and she couldn’t blame Cas for coming to her defense. She watched as Cas walked away, giving Cassie a small high five, and gave the Hufflepuff an approving nod and wink. Looking over at Raegen as she noticed them coming in and gave them a small wink and smirk in return for the thumbs up.

Shaking her head for a moment as she folded her arms over on the table before taking the napkin that Eden offered and patted herself dry as much as she could, it was better than nothing. She gave Eden a small chuckle at the comment of Shane being a dickhead, “You can say that again, yeah.” she muttered. But at his retort of her suggestion of revenge, she gave him a genuine smile and nod as she giggled somewhat energetically that lasted but a moment. “This is why you’re my favorite.” she grinned as she momentarily ruffled his hair and grabbed him by the chin.

As Eden mentioned Cas, she nodded, “Oh of course. Shane should know not to fuck with us by now. Cas is always on his ass about this shit. If he even had an iota of brains he’d know that by-” she quickly took a short pause as Ophelia sat down, not wanting to bring down the poor girl’s mood or cause her any unnecessary stress. She already had more than enough shit to deal with in her own life. They weren’t exactly as say Ophelia and Eden were but, Jessie felt like she needed to look out for her specifically, putting her health conditions aside. She just didn’t know why.

Hey, Phi. And eh, You know. Just Shane and his usual shit.” Jessie muttered, before she took a bite of toast, letting Eden explain things. Her eyebrows raised as she shot a quick glance over to the Hufflepuff table across the hall, “Aaand it looks like there are now paper otters on their table…” she chuckled slightly, damn Mac and her shenanigans. Giving the Gryffindor a small wink of approval.

Jessie rolled her eyes once more as her brain went back to the comments aimed from Cassie about the game, letting those small ones roll off her back like water to a duck's back. Sure, they lost a few to Gryffindor, but...They won some, and today would be no different. She could feel it. They had to win at least once more, pride be damned. She wasn’t in the mood to lose.

For what felt like the third time in just an all too short amount of time, Jessie found her attention being taken back to the direction of that one spot of the Gryffindor table, but only to see Cassie sitting down right next to her on her left, as Eden and Ophelia were on her right. The Slytherin rolled her eyes as an exasperated and overd-dramatic breath escaped her lips. “What didn’t he do?” she mumbled dryly. “First, he’s a royal pain in everyone’s ass, pretty sure you can agree that much, Cassie. And second, he seems to get off on only ever really targeting me, for whatever reason. So, there’s that.” Jessie stated plainly, before taking her cup of water and took a sip. Which she almost immediately choked on at Eden’s mention of the Dance, she knew exactly what he was trying to do. She shot him a glare as she placed her cup down, “I retract my earlier statement, you’re the absolute worst.” she muttered.

Jessie soon side-eyed Cassie as she swiped a piece of her food from the plate. A small grin creasing her lips for just a moment before it disappeared. Deep in thought. For just a moment.

You also could just ask if you wanted to share my food, right? You don’t always have to steal it, I thought that was against Gryffindor House rules. And please, we have better things than just toast compared to you lot, trust me.” the blonde said with a small wink before turning to look a few seats down from the table, locking her eyes on a small, fifth year, male Slytherin student. “Hey shortstack, pass the jam spread, please?” she questioned with a short whistle. Kieran shot her a glare as his eyebrows knitted together for a moment, “Why…?” his voice was low, as if not wanting to answer the request behind it as his mouth was full with food.

The young Slytherin leaned in close across the table, keeping her voice low, “Because I will break you with my god damn boot if you don’t? Now, just pass me it, please.” putting extra emphasis on the please. Kieran’s eyes widened slightly, but not before rolling his eyes as he picked up the small plate with various jelly and jam spreads available. As it was handed over, another hand grabbed the plate and walked onto the other side of Cassie as the figure sat down. “Oh come on. Astrid, I’m not in the mood for this shit. Why do you always have to do this to me?” Jessie questioned with an annoyed tone as she looked over at the dark haired Slytherin. “No, but your reactions always are worth the extra effort.” Astrid stated, her light Scandinavian accent coming out for just a moment. Jessie shook her head, “You’re all going to kill me one day, I just know it.” Jessie stated dryly, placing two fingers to either side of her head. Astrid chuckled and handed Cassie the plate of jams and jellies for the toast, “There you go, Sweetheart.” she flashed Cassie a smile before quickly eating some food as she too woke up rather late. She’d need the food for the extra boost of energy for the day. Smiling happily.

With a small sigh, Jessie lifted her head back up and craned her neck to look back at Cassie, propping left leg up onto the bench, keeping her foot flat against the bench as she rested her arms atop her knee, “Alright, so aside from stealing food from me, and terrorizing me. What else are you doing over here, Lightborn? You don’t usually bother me unless you want something from me.” she eyed the red haired Gryffindor up and down for a moment, “So, what is it?” she asked with a raised eyebrow, not once taking her eyes off from Cassie. Waiting patiently.

Cassie rolled her eyes while she was eating the bits and pieces that she had grabbed from Jessie’s plate. There had been zero hesitations in her grabbing the food that she had because it was basically second nature for her, but apparently Jessie still wasn’t used to it and to that the red head felt a little insulted.

“Well yeah, when is Shane not an arse? Maybe he picks on you so much because he has a crush on you.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders before going back to eating the rest of what she had stolen from Jessie’s plate. Jessie found herself rolling her eyes at the comment about Shane, “We don’t talk about Shane, crushes, and me in the same sentence.” the young Slytherin found herself choking a bit at the last bit, barely able to get that out, as the sentence alone made her feel sick. Shaking her head as she tried to get rid of the comment from her mind

Cassie laughed as Jessie lectured her about taking food off of her plate. “Don’t act like you know the rules of my house, Carter. Besides, oh no ten points from Gryffindor, Slytherin’s would still have to get more than five points for that to matter.” Jessie couldn’t help but grin at the continuous jabs at her house, shaking her head once more before she reached over for her cup of water and took a short sip before she resumed her conversation with Cassie, “Oh love, are you sure you’re not failing your Muggle classes? ‘Cuz it seems your math is a bit off there. May need to get that checked, if I were you.” The Slytherin student gave the red haired woman a small wink before recorrecting her posture on the bench, stretching slightly for a moment.

As Jessie began to get jam for her, Cassie began to lather it on the remaining piece of toast she had. “Look, I actually really enjoy toast. It reminds me of how crusty your quidditch team is.” Maybe this wasn’t the best table for Cassie to be cocky, but she was sure most of Jessie and Eden’s housemates knew Cassie was just bugging the living crap out of Jessie. The blonde couldn’t help but chuckle at yet again, another jab at her house. But no one, and she meant no one made fun of the Quidditch team. Turning her head to look back at Cassie she spoke up again, “Are you sure you’re talking about the right team? Last time I checked, I wasn’t on Ravenclaw’s Quidditch team.” she flashed a short smile for a moment, before turning to look at Eden.

Then Cassie leaned over Jessie as she looked to Eden. “I was going to go, yeah. And I don’t know, maybe? But I think it’s a bit of a cliche...Ask your crush to a valentine's day ball. I think that’s too much, even for me.” The red head could feel her heart thud against her chest harder than it had before as her palms got a little sweaty. She wasn’t about to blow her cover now. “What about you guys?"

Jessie took a moment to ponder over the question at hand, pretending like she hadn’t already answered it a few times by now. She simply gave a small shrug of her shoulders for a moment before answering, “I’m not sure, actually. Sure it’s gonna be a part of the Tournament and everything but, I don’t think it’s really my thing.” she gave another shrug, “Besides, you’re supposed to have like a date or something for it and like...I dunno, don’t really have anyone in mind, nor do I think anyone would really want to go with me anyway, so I think I’ll probably pass. But, that shouldn’t stop you guys from going, enjoy yourselves and what not, right?” her eyes glanced from Cassie for a moment, before taking a small glance in Eden’s direction. Giving the Slytherin male a look he’d know all too well; Shut it, or it’ll be your ass in the dirt later. Before quickly looking back over to Cassie, inching a bit back as she hadn’t realized just how close Cassie had gotten to her, “So, aside from all that, what are you thinking if you get into the Tournament? How long do you think you Gryffindor's can last against us Slytherins?” Jessie said with a smirk as one of her eyebrows rose slightly.

Cassie rolled her eyes as Jessie became her usual self. Dances never seemed to be something Jessie was into, or maybe that’s just how the red head felt. She groaned for a slight moment and looked her in the eyes.

“Jessie, do not give me this bull shit. Do not be the person that’s too cool for school, these will be the moments you’ll want to remember.” A hand brushed through her locks as the red head looked over to Eden and then back to Jessie. “You don’t need a date, I more than likely will not have one.”

There were a few moments of no words exchanged before the mention of the tournament and their rivalry sparked. Cassie looked at Jessie with a ‘really?’ look before sighing and answering. “Please, don’t embarrass yourself Carter. If you spent half the effort you put towards your smack talk you may just beat Hufflepuff in the tournament.”

Jessie forced out a genuine laugh at Cassie’s last comment, pinching the bridge of her nose for a moment as she took a short inhale of breath before sighing over dramatically. “Well first off, I highly doubt these will be the days I want to remember. For the most part anyway.” the Slytherin said before taking a sip of water as she reached for the cup, before placing it back down on the table. “Besides, missing one stupid dance isn’t going to really change anything. But if it would make you happy and get off my back, then sure. I’ll go to the stupid thing. I guess.” Jessie said with raised eyebrows as she rolled her eyes.

If there was nothing else that she hated more, it was having to get dressed for a damn formal event, nevermind a stupid Valentine’s Day ball. Sure, even if she didn’t make it into the tournament, she could still go. But she didn’t see much of a point in going, but she’d try to make the best of it and go for a few hours, and then probably just planned on going back to the common room and getting absurdly drunk anyways. Couldn’t hurt too much, she guessed.

“And second, I’m pretty sure my skill set alone automatically makes me have a higher chance of winning that tournament compared to any of those stoners.” she said casually, “But you? You on the other hand...May need to brush up just a tad bit on your skills if you hope to have any chance of beating us. Your spellcasting could use a bit of work, Cassie.” Jessie grinned.

Cassie could feel the excitement dance around in her chest when Jessie agreed to go to the dance. It wasn't the most agreeable responses, but she would take it. Mentally she was so excited, but on the outside she remained calm. Her palms were getting a little clammy, but she took that time to play around with a little butter knife in her hand. Without thinking about it the words just sort of slipped out of her mouth.

"Great! I'll meet you at the bottom of the staircase then at like 6 or whenever the ball starts? I'll bring a flask and make it worth while of your attendance." Cassie said with a giant goofy grin on her face as she laughed. It was in that moment that a bit of panic washed over her. Was Jessie going to take that another way, did she even mean that in that way?

Instead Cassie instantly just began to play with the knife more as she let it prod against the wood table in between her fingers. "Anyways, clearly you are blind because you have no idea what my skill set even is. Also who says you will be in the tournament for sure?" She said rolling her eyes a little bit as the annoyance was coming back into her tone.

"Lastly, on a more serious note. I wouldn't turn my back on those so-called stoners. If that's how they are stoned, imagine if they were sober for awhile." She said with a small shudder at the thought. Hufflepuff may have been the strongest house and no one knew it.

Jessie was taken aback by the initial comment, before grinning mischievously for a moment, “Well, sounds like a date. I’ll be on time.” she gave a small wink before looking away for a moment as she took a short, deep breath. Looking back at Cassie, “Oh hun, I’ve seen your skill set, and-” Jessie eyed her up and down for a moment, “I’ve seen a first year with more skill on a broom than you.” The Slytherin teased.

“Well, I never said I was going to be in the tournament for sure. Just a possibility. But, Slytherin is gonna kick your ass. Just how it is. You should know that by now.” the Slytherin looked over her shoulder at the Hufflepuff table once more, grinning as utter chaos ensued. Per usual some pranks had been set up and was causing nothing but mayhem. “Well, I’m not turning my back on them, Cas is a close second in terms of skills...Where it counts. Decent duelist, good with herbology and shit like that but...The moment any of them stay sober for longer than five minutes at a time? It could for sure be a close call. Unlike you lions...Seem a bit rusty. Maybe a Quidditch game will help you guys loosen up a bit, eh?”

The words echoed in her head. ‘Sounds like a date’ and Cassie couldn’t get them out as the feeling of panic and hurriedness came about. Her brain would not focus on anything else. The red head slowly put the butter knife down and tried not to show any sign of her panic.

The smack talk came in one ear and took her a second to process, and she wasn’t so quick on rebutting this time. “Kicking my ass doesn’t mean they’ll win.” She said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

“Cmon Carter, trying to nip at my flying skills is low, we all know I’m the best flyer in this school.” She said, shaking her head before getting up.

“I uh, should probably get going though before Harvey loses his mind.” Cassie more so just needed to be in a panic safe space where she could maybe sort everything out. Is she going on a date? Is this ball thing a date now? Cassie could feel her hands be a little shaky, but she just shoved them in her pockets instead.

Jessie grinned as Cassie commented on the Hufflepuff team kicking their ass, "No, doesn't mean they'd win. But it'd for sure make one hell of a show." she mused, stretching out her neck for a moment as she yawned. "And oh, it was more than just a minor nip, dear. I was dragging it through the mud. Just like what I'll be doing later today in our game later today." the Slytherin mused.

Jessie's eyes darted from the Slytherin table, to the Gryffindor table as Cassie mentioned Harvey. "Yeah, I'd say that would be wise. Don't want his Quidditch uniform getting twisted into a bunch from him stressing so hard..." Jessie teased, looking back at Cassie. "See ya later, Lightborn. Classes should be starting soon anyway."
