Oscar. 7th Year Slytherin. Breakfast.

Oscar's sleep had been short and fitful; he and his dorm-mates had stayed awake until the small hours of the morning, swapping stories about their summers and speculating about the year ahead - their final one at Hogwarts. He'd been woken much earlier than he'd like by someone's snoring - he'd almost forgotten how noisy the dorms were over summer - and after a while he'd given up on trying to get back to sleep and instead dressed and headed down to the Great Hall for breakfast. It's still early, and the Great Hall is quiet, with only a dozen-or-so students already at the tables.

He takes a seat at the deserted Slytherin table and spreads a few pieces of toast with bramble jam, munching his breakfast absent-mindedly as he flips through a textbook - a heavy, leatherbound book about dragons - from his satchel.

Abraxas. 7th Year Slytherin. Breakfast.

After being woken by Oscar leaving the dorm, Abraxas had lain in bed for a while longer before getting up and ready for the first day of his seventh year in Hogwarts. Slytherin's dungeon common room is empty except for a pair of younger girls who're trying to coax a tabby cat down from a high window ledge, and the corridors are quiet, the only noise being the paintings chatting to each other.
Oscar, his friend and classmate, is already sitting at the Slytherin table when Abraxas arrives at the Great Hall.
"Morning, Oscar." he greets, sitting opposite the boy. "Pass the milk."
He pours himself a cup of strong tea and sits with his elbows rested on the table while he drinks it.

Winifred lay silently in her bed, staring up at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of her dorm-mates breathing.
"Meow."
She turns on her side to see her tiny, toyger cat Tiger sitting on the windowsill, gazing longingly out the window. It was still dark outside, but the morning sun had just started to touch across the sky, bringing with it the faintest amount of pink and orange early morning sunlight. It could not have been much later than five-thirty or six O'clock in the morning, which meant the other students -- especially the older ones with more classes -- would be getting up soon.
Winifred sighed as she climbed out of bed and began to dress quietly, careful not to wake her dorm-mates. When she was finished she grabbed her wand and bag off the top of the trunk at the foot of her bed. "Come on, Tiger," she called in a muffled whisper as she started to leave. The cat meowed as he jumped off the windowsill and followed after her.
As she entered the cold dungeon common room, Winifred noticed that the common room was empty save for two girls who appeared to be only a year or two younger than her who were sitting together in a pair of armchairs, cuddling a very disgruntled-looking tabby cat. Seeing this, Winifred laughed as Tiger quickly jumped on the highest part of the mantle he could get as he seemed to scowl at the pair of young girls allthewhile, as though daring them to try and cuddle him like that.
As she entered the Great Hall -- which was only just starting to fill up with students, most of whom were older than her -- Winifred eyed the Slytherin table, she took note of the two Seven Year boys who were already present there. She didn't know them personally, but she was pretty sure of what they're names were, although she never actually spoken to them in all her time at Hogwarts. She sat down at the table, a little ways away from them, but still close so that she could overhear them talking.
She began to spoon some porridge into a bowl silently.

Evelyn. 7th year Gryffindor. Breakfast.

Evelyn awoke from her peaceful slumber by the sun shinning brightly through the stained glass window, with a slight groan she buried her head further in her feather pillow, she stayed like that until the danger of falling asleep again dawned on her, Merlin forbid she was late for lesson's on her first day of lessons. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes trying to clear the haziness away, getting up she washed and styled her hair before putting on her uniform, seeing that no one else was awake yet in her dorm she walked down to the grand hall, passing the common room and numerous empty class room on her way.

Evelyn walked into the hall with a smile on her face, it sure was good to be back at Hogwarts, no emotionally unavailable parents, just her friends and magic, it was a home away from home for Evie. As her heels clicked against the hard stone floors she twirled a a strand of her long, blonde hair around her finger as she thought about her year ahead. As her eyes came across two familiar Slytherin boys, Oscar and Abraxas sitting at their table, walking past she gave them a bright smile "Good morning" she greeted before taking a seat and pouring herself a cup of tea.

Walburga.5th Year Slytherin. Breakfast.

Walburga had hardly slept at all. She'd been too excited about her first day as a fifth year and, more importantly, as a prefect. She'd been lying in bed, watching for the tell-tale signs of dawn out of the window, and had sprung up at first light to start preparing herself. She'd laid out her things - her robes, hairbrush, perfume, and so on - at the foot of her bed the night before, with her prefect badge settled neatly on top of the pile.
The entire way to the Great Hall, she sticks her chest out so that anyone who passed by couldn't help but notice her prefect badge, but it's still too early for most of the students and she doesn't encounter anyone except the Hufflepuff ghost.
Like the corridors, the Great Hall is still quiet, and she's disappointed that she won;t be able to make the grand entrance she'd hoped for; there are only a few others at the Slytherin table, and none of them are in her year. She sits down near Winifred, a girl she knows from the common room and the Quidditch stand, "Good morning." she says, fiddling with and adjusting the badge on her chest, "How was your summer, then?"

Bobbi. 7th Year Gryffindor. Breakfast.

Bobbi's woken by something waxy and damp landing on her face. "Ugh..." she makes to brush it off, but it's just Kirby, one of the other girl's toads. She drags herself out of bed and puts Kirby back under his owner's bed. She contemplates going back to sleep, but it's already light out and everyone else will be awake too, in a half-hour or so.

Predictably, she'd packed her books at the very bottom of her trunk, so she has to empty the whole thing to get to them; while she's hunting in the chest, a golden snitch which had been trapped, wrapped in a pair of fuzzy socks, escapes from her trunk and flies away before she can make a grab for it. She swears under her breath, but decides to leave it be, for now. She'll catch it after classes, and put it away more securely this time.

Evelyn is already sitting at the Gryffindor table when Bobbi arrives, and she takes the seat beside her friend, "Morning, Evie." she greets, "I'd almost forgotten what 6am looked like, over summer."

Winifred looked up as Walburga sat down nearby. She recognized her immediately as she was quite well-known in the common room and throughout the school as a member of the prestigious Black family.
"Same as always," Winifred said indifferently in response to Walburga's question. "Awkward as hell. I see you've got your Prefect badge, though." She nodded to the shiny badge pinned to Walburga's chest as she pushed her empty bowl and plate aside. "I suppose that means you've had a good summer?"
Winifred pulled her wand and bag into her lap, and brushed a strand of dark hair out of her eyes. She reached into her bag and pulled out her copy of The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 4 and began to flip through the pages absentmindedly.

Althea. 5th Year Hufflepuff. Breakfast.
Althea did not sleep well. The first day of school was always the hardest one for her as she missed her quiet home.
After finally getting up from the warm blankets, she dressed her uniform and packed her books in a comforting silence that would end once she arrived at the Great Hall. Her dorm mates had already risen and gone down a long time ago, the excitement of sharing their vacations with friends they had not seen for the entire summer being their motive for waking up early.
Silencing her laughs with a hand, Althea thought with amusement that such excitement would not last and soon all of the 5th years would look like zombies from studying until they went blind for the exams.
Feeling a little bit better with herself, she walked slowly towards the Great Hall and, once there, sat down and started eating by herself.

Billie. 4th Year Ravenclaw. Breakfast.
Billie looked up at the ceiling and wondered what the house was now that she was gone. Quiet, probably. She gave a small smile and hopped out of bed. She gave a slight shriek when she saw her reflection in the mirror, much to the annoyance of her roomates. Her hair was a mess. She tried in vain to flatten her hair down, before accepting the fact that she would have to have a shower. A quick one. She quickly got undressed and had a small shower, before drying herself and dressing in her school robes. She looked at her watch, cursed, and ran down to the Main Hall.

She slipped into a seat and gave a small nod to the person next to her, before digging in. She loved Hogwarts food. It was much better than the food her mother makes at home, anyway.

Layla, 7th year Ravenclaw, Breakfast.

Layla sat up in her bed and looked at the pile of things at the foot of her bed that she had set out before going to bed last night. She sighed and swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood. She gently stretched her back, She felt a satisfying pop and then hurried to get ready having taken a shower last night. She slipped on her school robes and ran a brush through her hair before leaving the room and heading down to the Great Hall. She sat down in a seat a few seats down from a fourth year she'd seen around and gave a small smile in her direction before layering her plate with her breakfast, easily slipping back into the routine of Hogwarts.

"Morning, Evie." A familiar voice greets Evelyn, turning her head she smiled at the girl who had come to be her best friend over her years at Hogwarts "Good morning Bobbi" she smiles cheerfully sipping on her cup of steaming, strong tea, which if she doesn't get in a morning it sets her in a rotten mood, she needs her tea to function!

"I'd almost forgotten what 6am looked like, over summer." Evelyn laughed and nodded in agreement "Oh I know! It was dreadfully difficult to get out of bed this morning, I would have woken you when I came down but you looked so peaceful" she smirked, Evelyn had to be the worst person for getting people up in a morning, on school days she was naturally an early riser and people often tasked her with the duty of waking them, but she would take one look at their peaceful slumber and decide against it. "Besides I don't like waking you up you shout at me!" she laughed recalling the last time she had woken Bobbi for breakfast only to receive an earful of abuse from the red headed girl.
