ImageThe Great Hall was filled with light, food, teachers, and all of the students except for the first years, who were just entering now. Various things from pumpkin juice to chocolate cake adorned the platters on the tables. Each house ghost, excluding the Bloody Baron, were there as well. The Great Hall was just that. It was great in size, in standards, in supply if food, and just it's overall Imageaura. The ceiling was high above, and floating in the air were various magical candles and floating orbs of light.

Above each house table was its banner. Gryffindor's lion, Ravenclaw's eagle, Slytherin's snake, and Hufflepuff's badger, all in their house colors. Each one filled with the students who had been sorted in the previous years. Each bustling with people. As the first Imageyears walked down the long path between the tables, anxiety and whispering could be heard throughout. "What house will I be?" "Who are they?" "Is that who I think it is?" "I wonder how many of them are mud bloods this year". The whispers were obviously there, though not all were clear. Nearly Headless Nick swore he had forgotten something again, before adjusting his head so it wasn't hanging off.
The sorting hat sat there, the one thing who would choose what house they would be. This hat had seen more anxiety, anger, and disbelief then any other being alive. And now, it would reach into the minds of these students and place them where they belong. The first name was then called forth. Liam Porter.
As Liam sat on the stool, the sorting hat was placed on his head. "Liam Porter, eh? You have quite a few brothers, at least two I believe still attend here. Another Porter. You are very loyal...but, you are also very brave. Courage runs strong in you like your brothers. Maybe Hufflepuff....but I think I know a better place. Among your brothers. GRYFFINDOR!!!" The Gryffindors cheered and then chanted together. "You belong in Gryffindor where dwell the brave at heart! Our daring nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart!"
The next name called was Octavia O'Conner. She approached the stool, slid on then the hat was placed on her pale hair. "Not much wit in the head but there is bravery but more than that, loyalty. You aren't afraid of bad things to come and I believe your brother was quite the same. Well Ms. Octavia. I believe you belong in.... HUFFLEPUFF!" Again there was cheering and yet another chant. "You belong in Hufflepuff where they are just and loyal! We Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil!"

The other students were sorted and then the feast began. It is a happy time at Hogwarts as the young first years meet new friends in their houses or even, new enemies.

[ OOC: Not trying to be rude by not including the Ravenclaw and Slytherin first years but I have nothing to go off of as a name thing. Truly sorry if I offend anyone. ]

Liam wasn't surprised. Every Porter who ever went under that hat seemingly became a Gryffindor. He was more worried about people knowing who he was. After all, his story made the front page twice. "Ministery Official's Death and Son barely survives after a few days alone in the snow filled forest" still rang into his ears from others voices, despite the lengthy name. It was a big story, his father dying, and Liam managing to reflect a curse out of pure luck. But to him, every time he heard was just another reminder his father was dead, and he watched it happen. His family was all affected, but he witnessed the death himself. And he was the closest with their father. It bothered him more then others. And people tended to treat you differently already when your mother was as high up in the Ministry as his.

That didn't mean he showed it though. He hid behind his normal self, full of jokes and courage and loyalty. As he sat down at the table around fellow Gryffindor's, a familiar face caught his attention. It was his brother, Daniel. "Welcome to the club Liam" he mentioned, messing up Liam's hair. Liam smiled somewhat, but also was annoyed.

"I thought I told you to stop doing that!" Liam mentioned, as his other brother Tristen added "Now you are stuck with us. Also means you can stop using my bed at home since you're here now".

Liam looked towards the other Gryffindor's nearby. "Please tell me they are less annoying here then at home. And Tristen, ground rule, no messing with me before a test or I start mentioning certain stories. Understood?" At least they stopped calling him "The Boy who Survived". Granted he did survive three days alone in the woods wounded, but he hated the idea of being like Harry Potter. While he did have this great history, Liam wasn't a big fan of that spotlight, and it implied he was prone to danger. Which, while he denied it, he was.

He just hoped the school year wouldn't be as disaster out, or that he would get so much "special treatment". But he would brave it all the same, no matter what.

(NPC Porters, activate! Anyways, if anyone wants to make one of them as an actual character I wouldn't mind).

(Also, the similarities between Porter and Potter is coincidental. I just noticed it myself in this post).

soz, nope

Chara Delagrave

Chara sat comfortably in her seat in the Great Hall, the exact same one that she'd been sitting in since first year, and watched the first years get sorted. The first Hufflepuff she saw was a girl with the last name O'Conner, the same surname as Kieran, a guy in her year that she played Quidditch with. She watched as the girl, Octavia, ran over to her brother.

Once the feast began, Chara dug in. She grabbed whatever she could get her hands on and ate like a pig. She ate at least three more slices of pie than she should've in the first five minutes. She occasionally glanced up to see weird looks being sent her way before glancing back down at her plate. When she was close to exploding, she finally grabbed a napkin, and cleared the five different types of food off of her mouth and cheeks. Blushing, she talked to a student nearby her for a few minutes before glancing across the table and seeing Kieran across the table from her.

Glancing back at her friend and seeing that she had been ditched, she glanced back across the table and smiled at Kieran before attempting to initiate a conversation. "So, I heard that you're quidditch captain this year," she said to Kieran, hoping that she wouldn't have to just sit awkwardly the rest of the feast.

After the sorting had ended and they heard the call for them to go to their tables, Octavia bolted
to where she had thought her brother was. She had gotten lost though.... really. Not even an hour
and she is already lost...? It's gonna be a long year. She had wandered around the great hall
for a slight bit of time till she was grabbed by the waist turned around and lifted high into the air.
She smiled giddily then began speaking. "I belong in Hufflepuff, where I will be just and loyal.
I am a Hufflepuff. True and unafraid of toil."
She almost repeated, only changing a few words.
She clung around her brother's neck, wrapping him in a big hug. She missed her brother greatly and
now, the world couldn't even keep them apart. "I can see why you like it here brother..."
She started when he had finally sat her down. It wasn't long till a bump on Kieran's back, sending him
slightly forward, sent Octavia landing in the arms of a larger boy that had green and silver on.

"So this is your precious sister, o cousin of mine?" He hissed as Octavia pulled away and went
over to her brother again. "Brother... We don't have any cousins..." She replied. She didn't know about
the Grimlockes. They were a secret to her because her mother never told her and Kieran couldn't
bear to speak about them in front of their mother. The two boys walked in front of them and then the
other spoke."Better watch out badger boy. Your little sister might not make it through the year."

Octavia looked at her brother then they proceeded to the Hufflepuff table,
sitting next to Scott and Chara. "Kieran. We don't have any cousins...."

Down at the far end of the Slytherin table was laughter rising as Alex and her small group of friends that wern't all that bad as others made them seem were joking around and causing people around them to laugh and smile. Jasper, Alex's best friend was cracking jokes while his sister Jade and Alex were balancing carrots on their noses and making funny faces. They laughed and so did most of the kids around them, she even caught the attention of some Hufflepuffs who she stuck out her tongue and made funny face to, too only have them laugh and return some of the faces. " Hey Alex over here." Alex turned to Jade who called her only to see that she was ready to fire with a small piece of carrot in her hand. " Go for it!" She said as the small orange vegetable soared through the air for it's short trip before Alex caught it in her mouth. She smiled scrunching up her nose in her usual cute way before laughing.

Alex noticed that the Hall began to grow quiet as she too toned down her voice as she noticed that it was time for the first years to be sorted. Sitting up straight, Alex tried her best to be quiet only to have Jasper make a funny face and almost cause her to spit out her water. She quietly laughed as the other houses roared with cheers as the kids got sorted into their respective houses. Her attention was briefly pulled over to a young lad who swung a little girl in his arms, his little sister maybe? Alex thought before she was snapped back by Jade who leaned her head onto her shoulder. " I'm tired already! That was a bloody hell long train ride over here." Alex only ran her fingers through her short blonde hair and let out a sigh with a small smile playing at her lips. " You sure aren't lying about that part, I thought I'd die in that train before Jasper came and brought me all that candy."

After everyone was done eating and all Alex headed towards the dungeons with Jasper and Jade who all threw their arms around eachothers shoulders. It was hard to walk like that but Alex didn't mind, she was glad to have her friends with her. Now the steps were a different story, Jasper made them go down like they were and they almost fell a couple of times which made Jade and Alex want to kill him but they only laughed and forgot about it the next second. Upon entering the common room, Alex and Jade ran over to the empty couch and threw themselves on it before anyone else came to claim it. They both laughed when their heads almost collided with each others and Jasper lightly sat on them both. " So how was your summer Alex? Did anything new with your mum?" Alex playfully pushed Jasper off as she sat up loosening her green and silver striped tie. " Actually yes, we went Montrose and gathered some Star Grass and studied some Ashwinders along with some Doxy's, those little things sure can bite, little buggers." Jade smiled as the rest of the Slytherin's began to flood the common room, she quickly pulled herself up and took Alex with her. " Time for bed, as in some girl time so good night brother!" With that the two disappeared up towards the girls dormitories leaving Jasper dumbfounded for a second before he shouted " Jade you friend hogger! "

Jamie Middleton

It was the begining of another year at Hogwarts, and as always Jamie was happy to go, even begging to go. Since she was a half blood, she lived in the Muggle world with her Muggle father, her mother who was a witch, and her younger sister who would be going to Hogwarts next year. As Jamie said her goodbyes and boarded the train, she couldn't help but smile. She belonged in the Wizard world more than the Muggle world.

It was then hours later as she and other students filed into Hogwarts and sat in the Great Hall. Even though she was sorted into the Gryffindor house on her first year, which was almost five years ago, she still had friends who were in other houses like, HufflePuff and Ravenclaw. She looked for some familiar faces, and found some. She found the Porter brothers and sat next to them.

She smiled and said, '' So I hear your brother Liam will be attending for his first term. I can't wait to see what house he'll be put in. Hopefully Gryffindor, for his sake.'' She smiled and lowered hew voice and so did everyone as as the Sorting ceramony would begin.

Allof the students watched as the first years poured in through the gates. They all watched as Headmaster sat the The sorting hat on the stool, sat there, the one thing who would choose what house the first years would be in. This hat had seen more anxiety, anger, and disbelief then any other being alive. And now, it would reach into the minds of these students and place them where they belong. The first name was then called forth. Liam Porter. Jamie smiled and looked at Liam's brothers and looked back at the new students and waited with excitement.

GRYFFINDOR!!!" Jamie and Liam's brothers as well as the other Gryffindors cheered and then chanted together. "You belong in Gryffindor where dwell the brave at heart! Our daring nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart!" Jamie clapped and as the others students were sorted, she moved onto the other side of the table so Liam could sit with his brothers.

Jamies watched as Liam sat down at the table around fellow Gryffindor's. She watched as Liam looked at Daniel and she smiled and listened as they greeted each other. "Welcome to the club Liam." Jamie smiled again and looked at Liam.

"I thought I told you to stop doing that!" Liam mentioned, as his other brother Tristen added "Now you are stuck with us. Also means you can stop using my bed at home since you're here now.'' Jamie couldn't help but smile and laugh lightly and then stopped as she didn't want her first impression to come off as mean.

Jamie took a sip of her Butter beer and then looked at Liam as he said, "Please tell me they are less annoying here then at home. And Tristen, ground rule, no messing with me before a test or I start mentioning certain stories. Understood?" She smiled and said, '' Hi Liam, it's nice to meet you, I'm Jamie Middleton. And sadly, Tom and Jerry over here don't act very differently than they do at home.'' She liked to refer to Liam's brother with pet names every now and then since they have grown rather close over the years. She then looked back at Liam and said, ''So do you think you'll be trying out for the Quidditch team this year? Your brother tried out, but didn't make the cut. While on the other hand, I made it, just like last year and the year before.'' She looked back at Daniel and Tristen and stuck her tongue out with a playful flare and then started to enjoy the feast just as the others were.

Liam was semi embarrassed. "It's not your room anymore it's mine!" He turned towards Jamie. "Because I am sure they neglected to add this fact, the room is mine. It's a hand me down. It's a long story involving having a lot of siblings. All brothers".

When she confirmed his fears, he sighed. "Great. Which means I have to deal with Tristen's pranks and Daniel's...I don't even know what to call you Daniel".

"I signed you up to be the Keeper by the way" Daniel noted with a smile. "Just so you know".

Liam looked at Daniel with the typical brotherhood anger. Liam hated it when Daniel signed him up for things without asking, especially when he knows Liam would have agreed to it. The psychologist was by far the most annoying. "I hate you. I hope you know that. I hate you very much".

"I love you too".

He looked at Jamie. "I don't think il make it through the year. Just, whatever you do, do not trust them with the laundry. Especially Tristen".

"Hey! What did I do?" He noted playfully.

"You made it so my clothes turn invisible after long exposure to sunlight? Don't think I forgave you for that. I will have my revenge".

Liam continued to feast like crazy, clearly hungry. That's when he felt a very familiar head try to get fallen bits of food on his lap. "No...she didn't. Did she? Did our mom really?" Liam looked under the table, and surely enough, there was his dog, Winter. Winter jumped up next to him and licked his face, causing an involuntary laugh. "Winter! Winter stop!"

The dog then decided to start eating some of the food on Liam's plate. "So, I take it mom pulled some strings to get Winter here?"

"So what's next exactly? Common room? Or is there something you have yet to tell me?"

Jamie Middleton

Jamie couldn't help but laugh to herself when Liam explained not to trust Tristen or Daniel with the laundry.
She looked at Liam and said, ''Don't worry. I've learned to not trust either one of them.....but that's for another time.'' She looked around for some other students she would recognize from other years, which she had.

She was then snapped out of her train of thought when she heard Liam get upset and then calm down when she saw a dog on the other side of the table with Liam and his brothers. She smiled and looked around, hoping no one would get upset. She then listened as Liam asked his brothers if their mum had managed to let their dog come to the school with them.

Jamie looked back at Liam and said, ''Don't worry. As long as you don't get cocky, you'll be fine at Quidditch. I thought I was gonna be awful or die while playing my first ever game. But I actually wasn't too bad.'' She remembered when she first tried out, she had gotten a broken arm on her first game, but that wasn't the wort thing that could happen to anyone while playing Quidditch.

Jamie then looked back at Liam and said, ''Plus, I'm the house's Seeker. So you'll be fine.''
'' So what's next exactly? Common room? Or is there something you have yet to tell me?'' Jamie heard Liam say as the feast was over and all the other students were getting up and going to their dorms for a night's rest. She cleared her throat as she loosened her red and gold tie that was around her neck. She looked back at the Porter boys and said, ''No, it's time to go to the Common Room and hang out for a bit if you want. I might go to bed early, but I'll think about it on the way there. Shall we get going?'' She said with a smile and started to walk with the other Gryffindors.

soz, nope

Shin stretched his legs after arriving to Hogwarts. It was a long ride and he was exhausted. He was dressed in his Slytherin robes, that seemed to hide his summer tan he received over vacation. In smooth strides he made his way alone in silence to the Great Hall, where he'd fill his stomach up with delicious food, of course after seeing what "New Meat" they had this year. Walking in he could already see the tables filling up. Some with friends, some with people he couldn't stand. He made his way to the Slytherin table and sat down letting his head rest in his hands. He was hungry, he was tired, and he resented the fact that Summer was over once more.

The chattering in the Hall died down as the doors opened, and the first years filed in. Lifting his head up he looked at the younger students to see if he knew any of them. He recognized some, but not many. There was however another Porter among the group. How fancy, now they seemed to be coming by the year. He shook his head, a smirk well defined on his face. Leaning back a ways he listened to the Hat sort everyone, even a few new students for Slytherin. "They won't make it, they look like their ears are about to fall off." He thought to himself shaking his head. He couldn't say much, he remembered being that young, though he wasn't terrified about magic or school or sorting or any of the sort, he felt as if he were born for it.

His stomach growling brought him out of his thoughts. He was starting to regret ignoring the food trolley on the train. His attention however went to Mathias, a fellow Slytherin, whose attention was on one of the first years, who was sorted into Hufflepuff. He perked a brow and smirked, he could get entertainment out of this. He watched out of curiosity at first, then it was over, just as soon as it started. What made it interesting was Kieran, he seemed to be very protective of the first year. He caught the boys glare and smirked only to keep eye contact and make sure that he looked smug about what happened. Shinta rested his face on his hand once more and just gave a tiny wave to Kieran, wiggling his fingers, almost as if he were mocking the boy. Shin could already tell, he'd have a fun year, that's for sure.

Emma had been nervous since she had gotten off the boat. She was really there at Hogwarts. She was a Witch! She followed the rest of the first years into the school, her eyes wide with wonder. She whispered to the girl next to her, and the girl would whisper back. "I hope I get into a nice house, I heard that Slytherins were really snakes... do you think-" before she could even finish the giant oak doors opened up and everyone filed into the Great Hall, eyes on them. Emma's eyes were on all four tables and even the teachers table. She tried making mental notes about everything, but it was a lot to take in.
After all the sorting done, Emma sat on the stool and waited for her chance to be sorted into a house, a "family" so to speak. The hat spoke some gibberish she wasn't paying attention to on why she should be in this house or that house, in the end she became part of the Ravenclaw House. She took a deep breath, it wasn't as scary as she made it seem, sliding off the stool, she'd make her way over to her House table and take a seat with the people nearest her whispering small 'congrats' to her. She looked around to see where everyone else that had been standing with her had been sorted. Seemed everyone was sorted where they belonged, everyone was already fitting in and having a good time. I wonder if that's how I'll be next year or if I'll ever be that way again." she thought glumly to herself, seeing as she didn't have any "muggle" friends or any wizarding friends. At least she had her owl and her sister and father to write to.

The Great Hall buzzed with excitement while the children of the houses ate their food.
The Headmaster was quietly conversing with some of the other teachers while sometimes
locking eyes with a child. The first one he locked eyes with was Octavia. She turned to her
brother, inquiring. "Brother... Who is that man in the middle of the teacher's table?" She
questioned as Miles moved on to look at some of the other children. He turned to his
fellow teachers and had slight conversation as did Octavia before the Headmaster stepped
up to the podium. The lights flickered to get attention but then he began speaking. "I would like
to extend a hand of welcoming to the first years. May your future be bright and prosperous.
Now. I must inform everyone that entering the dark forest is forbidden, unless you want to
live like Sir Nicholas here."
He motioned to the ghost who took his head off which received a
few Ewws and some people mentioning that it was cool. Miles continued on. "Now, Prefects
will escort the first years of their house to the dormitories and then tomorrow you will be able
to explore the grounds."
I wish all of you happy dreams and wonderful friendships. With
that, most of the people in the hall got up to leave towards the dormitories. Octavia looked at
Kieran. "Do I have to go with the Prefect brother?" She questioned hesitantly.

As the Headmaster (or, who he suspected was the Headmaster) gave them a speech before telling the First Years to follow the Prefects, he couldn't help but feel happy knowing Winter was here with him. "I guess I will see you all there then". He told them as he walked towards the Prefects with the other First Years. He didn't like some of the looks he saw from the Slytherin Prefects, or from the their table. But he hated the whispers even more. He could hear them talking about him, and Liam knew it wasn't about Winter. It was about his father.

As he gathered with the other First Years and before they were all grouped into individual houses, he accidentally bumped into two of them. "Oh, Sorry" Liam mentioned to Octavia and Emma as Winter walked next to him. "Hi, my name is Liam. Liam Porter". He had also gotten his schedule out, looking at his classes. And what he saw made him be filled with dread, as his first class was History of Magic, by James Porter.

"Great. Just great. My first class is taught by my brother" he mentioned to himself out loud. "Well, I am officially convinced I am not surviving the year. Talk about being suffocated by your own family".

At least he had Winter with him.

Jamie Middleton

Jamie looked at Liam and said, '' Alright, see you when we get there, Liam.'' She looked at Tristen and Daniel as the first years walked to the dorms. She gave Tristen an evil smile which always meant that she wanted to be carried to the dorms. She jumped onto Tristen's back and wrapped her arms around his neck loosly. She smirked and said, '' To the dorms common room, boys!!'' She smiled and laughed as all the other students filed out of the Great Hall and made it to their dorms as well.

As they were walking, she looked to her right and saw Chara Delagrave, one of her friends who was sorted into Hufflepuff. Yes, she had a friend in Hufflepuff, but she didn't care. She even had some friends in Slytherine and Ravenclaw. She then said to Tristen and Daniel, I'll see you boys in the Common Room. I have a friend who I need to talk to real quick.'' Jamie jumped off of Tristen and made her way through the crowd of students until she fumbled right into Chara. She straightened her stance and smiled at her friend.

Chara had been there for Jamie since their first year, and they still were pretty good friends five years later.
Jamie looked at the red haired girl right next to her as they were walking and said, ''Hey, Char. How have you been since last term?'' She looked around as they walked through the halls, even though they would have to part ways in a few minutes for the night, Jamie wanted to get a quick word from her friend before they saw each other again the next day.

Chara Delagrave

Chara stopped eating long enough to listen to Professor Miles's speech. Once he had finished, she stood up and walked over to the entrance to the Great Hall, raising her voice to the Hufflepuffs, telling them the rules and the rest of the speech that she had memorized over the summer. As they walked to the common room, Jamie came by. She and Jamie had been friends since her second year, and Jamie's first. They had gotten along well, as Chara was polite but still outspoken, and Jamie was a true Gryffindor.

She stopped for a second to answer Jamie's question, letting her fellow prefect, Jared, take the rest of the house. Chara responded with, "I've been doing great. I'm on the quidditch team again this year, which is fortunate. I don't know what I'd do without quidditch. Probably my work for once," Chara finished her statement with a chuckle before continuing, "But how are you this year?" Chara knew that Jamie had most likely been hanging out with her friends, and she didn't want to keep her from them, but she wanted to know how her friend had been doing. Sighing a little, she loosely twirled an end of her hair, noting that she had to apply another coat of dye onto it, the red in her hair was starting to fade.

Jamie Middleton

Jaime listened as her friend said, ''"I've been doing great. I'm on the Quidditch team again this year, which is fortunate. I don't know what I'd do without quidditch. Probably my work for once," which was shortly fallowed by a chuckle. Jamie smiled and continued to slowly walk with her friend. '' But how are you this year?" Jamie heard her friend ask. Jamie smiled and thought for a moment. She had done a lot since last term, and some of it wasn't worth mentioning.

Riley looked at Chara and said, ''Well, it's good to hear that you've been well. And that's fantastic that you're joining the Quidditch team again.'' She said with true sincerity and with her clear English accent showing. She smiled and continued, ''I've been good. I've been working on some more spells, but so far I haven't been able to come up with my own. Aside from that, things have been good. My mum and dad and sister are all doing well.'' She sighed and looked around and saw that the Hufflepuff common room was going to be coming up very shortly.

She looked back at Chara and said, ''I'll be joining the Quidditch team again too. Same position as before, Gryffindor Seeker. But it looks like we've run out of time to talk tonight. We can catch up again on things tomorrow.'' And just as she was about to say one more thing before the had to say good byes, she felt a body jump onto her which made Jamie slightly scream. She took a deep breath and looked over her shoulder to see who it was. She then laughed as she saw who it was.

It was her best friend, Bailey Carter. Jamie smiled and said, ''Bloody hell, Bailey! Don't you know not to sneak up on me like that anymore?'' She said while with a slight laugh in her voice. She looked back at Chara and smiled. Bailey looked at the red haired girl that Jamie was talking to and said, ''Hello. I'm Bailey Carter. Jaime's best friend in the whole wide world and the one who's going to be the constant pain in her arse all term.'' Bailey joked with her clear Scottish accent in her voice. Jamie smiled and stretched as Bailey got of her back and stood next to the both of them.

Jamie looked back at Chara and said, ''I'm terribly sorry about Bailey. She can be a twit sometimes, and always at the wrong moments. I'll always wonder how you ever got into Gryffindor and not Slytherine.'' She said jokingly as she pushed her friend lightly. Bailey gave Jamie a smile and stuck her tongue out and said, ''Well, I'm gonna go to the Common room. I'm tired and I still want to talk to you before we have to go to sleep, ok?'' Jamie nodded and watched as Bailey ran off and dissapeared into the crowd of students.

She looked back at Chara one last time and said, ''I really am sorry about her. She just doesn't know when to not be a pain in the arse. But hey, got to love her when you get to know her. Anyway, it's late and you'll need to catch up with your House before you lose sight of them. Good night Char and I'll see you tomorrow.'' She gave her friend one last smile and wave and then turned and ran up to the crowd of Gryffindor students and fallowed them to the Common Room.

(OOC Note: Just like the rest who used FC's for their main characters friends. Bailey will remain an NPC, even thought she won't interfer with the story at all. I just wanted to give Jamie some one who she's really close with and whatever. Hope it's alright).

Chara Delagrave
Chara smiled at the antics of Jamie and her friend, waving goodbye after making a few quidditch competition jokes. When Jamie walked off, Chara walked into the common room, checking the bulletin board. All of the necessary announcements were posted, and there weren't any prank posters or anything that first years shouldn't see, although why a Hufflepuff would do something like that was beyond her. Why anybody would do that was beyond her. Once she had finished that, Chara collapsed onto the fluffy yellow couch that was sitting by the fire, a hanging plant dangerously close to hitting her in the head.

Sighing, Chara stood up and began to slowly walk to her dorm, sleepiness taking its toll, giving her a zombie-like walk and posture. She pushed open the large, round, vault door that led to the dormitories. She struggled up the steps, the cold of being underneath the castle starting to seep into her bones. Once she reached her dormitory, precious dorm number six, the one she had been sleeping in since first year, she flopped onto her bed like a fish out of water. Shifting uncomfortably, she realized that she had messily folded up and shoved her schedule for the year in her back pocket. Fishing it out, she unfolded it as carefully as possible, smoothing out the edges as much as she could, and began to look it over. She sighed. All of her good classes were with Slytherins. Not all of them were evil, but most were.

With a mindset now far away from bad thoughts about Slytherins, Chara realized that her schedule was now totally ruined. She groaned, letting her head fall back, promising herself that she would make a new one. Soon. If you actually find time for it, or stop procrastinating long enough to even consider work, Chara thought to herself with a slight smile. She laid back against the bed, her thoughts about schedules and Slytherins drifting away with her consciousness.

Shin listened to the announcements, with little to no interest, it was the same year after year, rules rules rules, don't do this, don't do that. He rolled his eyes, and shook his head. After a few bites of food, he'd get up and start heading to the dungeons, to his Common Room where he could finally relax and not have to worry about anything. He was after all at home. Staring up at the ceiling he remembered he had classes to attend tomorrow.

He pulled his schedule from his pocket and glanced over it. It was all the classes he had asked for. Potions, DADA, Transfiguration, and Herbology, his last class was Care of Magical Creatures. How nice of a schedule he had. There were however some classes he'd prefer not to be on there. He shrugged and put it up, at least he knew where he was going tomorrow. Plopping himself down on the couch, he stretched out and smiled, the warmth from the fireplace broke the chill in the common room. Not that he didn't mind the chill, it was just not as comfortable as he would've prefered it. Closing his eyes for just a moment, he heard a familiar voice. "Sleeping on the couch Cuz? Why waste a perfectly good bed." Shin's eyes popped open just as he was sat on. He grunted, and took a deep breath as he shook his head at his cousin. Alaina Silverwulf, his younger cousin only by a few months, had also been accepted into Slytherin. Shin pushed her off of him only so he could sit up and raise his brow at her, now that a few tons had been lifted off his stomach. It was a good thing he hadn't eaten too much, she would've ended up wearing it by now. "I was thinking of how to cut off your hair in your sleep." He grumbled, though he put a smile on his face. She shook her head, before punching him in the arm. "Really, try getting to my bed." She teased him before getting off the couch, giving him a hug and skipping off to the womens dorm room.

Shin grunted, shaking his head. She was all kinds a crazy, and not the good kind. He thought to himself, his cousin reminding him of something he had read before. Sighing, he got up and walked to his own Dorm, examining the same old room, he sighed and plopped down on his bed, and stared. His cat, Butterscotch, hopped up on his chest and curled into a ball, purring softly at him as her blue eyes gazed into his. He chuckled and scratched her behind her ears and whispered, "Looks like we're home once again Butterscotch." The feline closed her eyes and continued to purr as if in agreement with him. He kept his hand on her back, and he fell asleep to her soft purr.

Emma listened to the mans words very carefully, for it seemed as if he were the one in charge. As they had lined up ready to go to the Ravenclaw Dorm, she had been bumped into. "Hey! Watch it..." She started saying before she realized that it was a first year just like her, and it was an accident. He even introduced himself to her. "Liam... that's... a nice name." She said with a smile, sticking out her hand, she would introduce herself, "My name is Emma... Emma Thompson bu-" just before she could finish her sentence, the prefect had already started moving forward. "Well... see you around." She said, before walking off, her blonde hair bouncing behind her. She followed the prefect as they spoke about the way to the common room, how the stairs change, so you better pay attention. Her eyes widened at the moving pictures, though she didn't say anything, she didn't want to seem... ignorant.

As they got to the common room door, the prefect explained how Ravenclaws got in, they had to answer a riddle, that the bronze knocker would give them. "Remember wit beyond measure is a mans greatest treasure." The prefect quoted Ravenclaw's slogan. Emma giggled until she heard a voice, a riddle was given.
."Without signal, flag or call, at night we come to play. And though we do not flee at all, at dawn we go away."
The prefect smirked and looked at all the first years. "Anyone want to try and answer it? I promise nothing bad will happen to you." Emma thought about the riddle for a second, then she smiled and raised her hand. "Why, I do believe that Stars are the answer." She pursed her lips, not meaning to speak out, the door unlatched and opened, as it said, "Enter." All the first year Ravenclaw students clapped before entering the common room. They were high up, Emma admitted to herself, as she peered out the window. "This is known as Ravenclaw Tower, as our house is represented by an Eagle, our colors are adapted to Air, we live with wisdom and wit, so have a grand night." The prefect turned around and left the common room, leaving all the first years to whisper to each other. Emma, however had no want to speak to any one of those. She walked to the dorms and sat on a bed that seemed to have her things, and even ravenclaw robes and a scarf for her. Her owl,Reno pecked at the cage to get her attention. She smiled and opened the cage, "Reno, I'm glad you're here... she pulled a letter from her trunk and gave it to her pet. "I need you to deliver this to my father please, you know he gives you the best mice." She said softly, looking around hoping no one would catch her. She tried opening her window, and it opened easily. The owl nudged itself against her cheek before taking flight into the night. She closed the window quickly, before noticing a piece of parchment paper on her pillow, it seemed to have her schedule.
Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy and Herbology. Flying lessons. She grimaced at the last class. Flying, that was something she wasn't sure she could do.... it was... not her best or her strong suit. Moving the schedule out of the way she laid down, in her robes too exhausted to do anything else. All the adrenaline she had seemed to have worn off, making her somewhat very tired. She closed her eyes and that was it, she was out like a light.
