chocolate brown.
of the three tattoos that Octavia has thus far accumulated, the italicised name 'Adela' and date beneath it, 'II/V/MCMXCVIII' is by far the most meaningful. It signifies the final, deciding battle of the Second Wizarding War, and the consequent death of Octavia's younger sister. It sits in sombre stillness at the left base of her collar bone, not far from her scar- a lightning network-looking thing that spreads in thing, pale ridges from the base of her right hip, up towards her clavicle. The scar is courtesy of Antonin Dolohov, the same deatheater that killed both Adela Chaves and Remus Lupin and was defeated by Filius Flitwick in the same battle. She also has a tattoo of a tree on her right inner ankle, that grows and adjusts in accordance to the seasons, and a minimalist tattoo of a black bear, her patronus.

Casual yet fashionable, Octavia has an arsenal of vintage tee shirts and oversized jackets. She is especially fond of denim, both in jacket and jean form, and her minimal jewellery is always gold.

LIKES; as captain of her quidditch team, it is only to be expected that she has a strong fondness for the sport. In fact, any time spent in the air is time well spent, as far as she is concerned. On the ground, meanwhile, she enjoys engaging in debate and duelling, particularly when she wins, as she is wont to do. She greatly enjoys her metamorphmagus abilities, as does she chocolate and sleeping in, and all of her classes, although DADA, charms, transfiguration and Care of Magical Creatures are her favourites.

DISLIKES; ever since accidentally eating a rotten egg-flavoured one in her second year, Octavia can't stand Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. She also dislikes sour food, in general, as well as the taste of most muggle alcoholic drinks, especially beer. Like all decent people, she loathes blood supremacism and supremacists, whilst on a lighter note, she can't stand crude humour, queues and long waits. Hospitals and funerals both make put her on edge, and she absolutely hates feeling embarrassed or overly vulnerable.

Octavia's experience with the sorting hat in her first year began in indecision, as the hat mulled over whether the eleven year old belonged more in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, and although the hat eventually settled on the former, Octavia continues to display qualities associated with both houses, years later.

As displayed in the Battle of Hogwarts, Octavia is a fiercely courageous individual, particularly when the stakes involve protecting the welfare of those she cares about, and even those she does not. She holds grudges, most certainly, but they have yet to hinder her good will when it really matters, and although she has moments of pettiness in a casual sense, as well as moments of vindictiveness, she does not let such things drive her, and knows, usually, when to be the bigger person. Even in those moments, however, her natural snark tends to leak into her words, sarcasm blatant and blunt. She is one who does not take to bullying well, and tends to fight back to cruelties in equal measure, occasionally opting for an eye-for-an-eye philosophy that is far from ideal. Needless to say, she has a lot to learn.

Her humour is omnipresent, even in her darkest moments, as she seeks to elicit even the wryest of smiles rather than risk being overcome by stress, fear or grief. She is extremely talented when it comes to keeping up a front, and seeming strong even when she is on the verge of breaking. Perhaps it is the loathing of her shortcomings, and her many insecurities, that have pushed her to hide anything that could suggest she is anything less than competent, prepared, enduring. Regardless of her situation, however, her wit is something to be either cherished, or frustrated by, for she always has something clever to say, a card to play in the many games of rapport that she has going on with both friend and foe.

She has a troublemaker streak that, quite fittingly, tends to land her in exactly that, although she always seems to be able to get herself out again. She is often struck by a desire for excitement, and her curiosity, once awoken, does not rest until satisfied. She hates not having answers, and will do whatever she can to seek out what she is looking for.

A touch hot-headed, her potential for Gryffindor truly arises when she is struck by passion, as she so often is. She is fervent in everything she does, but especially so in protest and revolution. She has a lot of dissatisfactions with the world, and with society, and is unafraid to demand change. In fact, sometimes she struggles to avoid discussing such things, as she has found that, for the most part, if people don't align with her fundamental values, then there is precisely zero chance that they will get along. For this reason, some have called her intolerant, which she believes is ironic, considering she believes that her refusal to tolerate intolerance is simply common sense combined with human decency.

Her emotional side has often led to her making split-second decisions that she later regrets, or, at least, later regrets getting caught doing. She acts instinctively, and does not always make the most diplomatic split-second decisions. This is dangerous enough on its own, but when you also happen to be one of the most fearsome duellists in your year... well, things can get especially worrisome, especially fast.

S T R E N G T H S

D U E L L I N G
- top of her class in DADA, Octavia has always had a knack for combative magic, and since the Battle of Hogwarts, her determination to improve has only led to an intense increase in skill and ability- albeit never quite becoming skilled enough to satisfy her own perfectionistic standards.

Q U I D D I T C H & F L Y I N G
- something that has always brought her joy is quidditch, and even now, it serves as both a hobby and a way to destress. it helps that she is very, very good at it, as is clear from her position as captain of her house team.

I N T E L L I G E N C E
- unsurprising for a Ravenclaw, but impressive nonetheless, Octavia has always possessed a sharp acumen. It bleeds into both her academics, assuring her top marks in her subjects, and her wit, granting her fast reactions and an ability to think on her feet with ease and without hesitation.

W E A K N E S S E S

P E R F E C T I O N I S T
- perfectionism can be admirable, to a degree. Unfortunately, Octavia's own brand of perfectionism sways less towards wanting the best from herself, and more towards being intolerant of her own shortcomings. She is seldom completely satisfied with what she does, regardless of quality, and is very often caught up by her own self-criticisms.

T E M P E R A M E N T A L
- hot-headed and prone to outbursts, Octavia sometimes struggles to keep calm and collected. She is influenced heavily by her emotions, and gets caught up in her own feelings to the point of jeopardising herself through her own impulsivity.

J A D E D
- the war changed her, just as it did many others, and she lacks the sunniness she once did. Her world view, and her view of people, is far more cynical now, and it has led her to being sometimes being a tad bleak, and blunt in her honesty.

Q U I R K S
-

H O B B I E S
- Even on gameless days, Octavia can often be found on the quidditch pitch, be it practicing or flying, due to a combination of her determination to improve and her sheer enjoyment of the sport. She is also often found in the library or her common room, poring over a book. She enjoys a good game of wizards chess here and there, as well as other board and card games, such as exploding snap.

F A M I L Y

ImageImageM O T H E R Ada Chaves, 46, Head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement. There has been a lot of change in the Chaves house over the past couple years, first losing their Marco, and then Adela. Ada and Octavia's relationship, as a result, has grown a little complicated- they get along, and know that they are all each other have, but there is a sense of loss that permeates through their home, and Ada has turned to her work as a way of coping with her grief, unintentionally leaving Octavia feeling at times emotionally adrift. That said, they know that they can talk to each other when they need to; one just needs to be willing to be vulnerable and make the first move.

F A T H E R Marco Sousa, 46, currently imprisoned in Azkaban. Suffice to say, Octavia and Marco are estranged, and she is never going to forgive him for his actions. In the end, he chose Voldermort over his own family, and although he did not do it himself, Octavia will always see him as complicit in Adela's murder.

S I B L I N G Adela Chaves, 17 (deceased), killed in the Battle of Hogwarts by deatheater Antonin Dolohov. Adela and Octavia were always close, playing the cliched role of inseparable twins who seemed telepathic, they were so in sync with one another. They were best friends, and so, naturally, Adela's death devastated Octavia, who still loathes the fact that she couldn't protect her sister.

[size=90] Octavia's parents met at a gala hosted by the Ministry of Magic, her father being a hitwizard whilst her mother worked in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. They were married for six years, and in that time, both Octavia and Adela were born. However, following Voldemort's rise to power, Ada and Marco's relationship severed, as Ada quit her job in retaliation of the new, fascist administration. Meanwhile, Marco was sympathetic to some of Voldemort's ideals, and that, combined with pressure from his pureblood family, pushed him to join Voldemort's cause, estranging him from his family.

Octavia and Adela spent their sixth and fifth years, respectively, as members of Dumbledore's Army, spreading rebellion propaganda and generally defying the authority of the Voldemort-initiated school administration. It was a dangerous thing to be a part of, and both sisters suffered punishments at the hands of the Carrows for their actions, although this did not deter them. Their taking part in the rebellion against Voldemort ultimately culminated in the Battle of Hogwarts, the worst and final battle of the Second Wizarding War.

The battle still serves as a source of much grief and trauma for Octavia, who fought in the battle herself, as did her sister. The two fought valiantly, side by side. However, shortly after deatheater Antonin Dolohov murdered Remus Lupin, they attempted to engage him in battle themselves. Despite their determination, the deatheater was a powerful enemy, and successfully killed the younger of the two sisters, before striking Octavia with a curse that left a brutal scar. The curse should have killed her, and she is lucky to have survived, given that she would have certainly been killed if not for Filius Flitwick's intervention, which resulted in Antonin's successful defeat.

Unfortunately, the professor was too late to save Adela, and she died almost immediately after being hit by one of Dolohov's curses. She was dead by the time that Octavia awoke from her own state of unconsciousness.

Following Voldemort's defeat, Marco, and many more of Voldemort's followers were sentenced to time in Azkaban. He learnt of Adela's death shortly before being sentenced, and in the month following the Battle of Hogwarts, Ada not only got her job at the ministry back, but was promoted to Head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She sentenced many of Voldemort's followers herself, including Antonin Dolohov, the man that murdered her daughter.

Thomas Rohdlig & Beatrix Binns & Gregory Halliwell

#987C63 - #E3AC57 - #71986E

Image

The hum of the crowd seeped through the wooden walls of their locker room as the Gryffindor Qudditch team tightened the straps of their kneepads and gathered their brooms for the first match of the season. Thomas adjusted the straps of his gloves as he gathered the team together in a huddle before the game. "Alright everyone, I know... This has been hard on a lot us" His breath hitched as he stared at the faces of his teammates scarred from the battle, "but we can't let it keep us from what we love, whether that be being here or kicking some Slytherin ass" He smirked and chuckled slightly to lighten the mood. "Cord, Hana do what you do best, Finn keep you eye Halliwell, and Calli bring it home" He added a slight wink in her direction before the horn sounded signaling the start of the match. "Let's make Gryffindor proud", the statement went a little deeper than just Quidditch to him.

His red and gold Quidditch robes swept behind him as the wind roared throughout the pitch. He made his way to the center of the field, eye-to-eye with the Slytherin Captain, Kenneth Lyndon. Madame Hooch patted both the boys on the shoulders, giving them the side eye, "Alright boys, let's keep this match fair and square, no tricks or foul play. Now shake on it.". Thomas extended his hand first and Lyndon gripped his hand pulling him harshly towards his chest. "Let's see if a two year break has made you soft Rohdlig" He sneered before shoving him away and stalking back towards the far side of the Quidditch pitch with the other Slytherins.

Thomas's body tensed, and he watched the hair on his forearm raise. He squeezed his broom rather tightly and took a deep breath, he got rather anxious and moody the closer it got to a full moon. It was something he didn't want to have to think about during the match, his lycanthropy was something he hand't told anyone. Out of embarrassment or fear, he wasn't too sure but he knew people would look at him differently if they found out and that he occasionally turned into a bloodthirsty wolf once each month.

Madame Hooch's whistle pulled him out of his own head and back to the field as he jogged back to his team and secured his helmet, tightening the chin strap to where it fit snuggly on his head. "Alright, take your positions!" Thomas immediately shot into the air, a smile forming on his rather stoic face. It was exhilarating to come back to the sport he had loved after the war. In that moment things felt normal again, good. He held a single fist in the air to his teammates as they readied themselves, and watched as they followed in suit. After a few moments of silence, Madame Hooch's whistle blared and in a second brooms where flying throughout the air. The first Quidditch match of the season had begun.

Image

"Do we HAVE to be your little house elves today?!" "Yeah, come on sis, can't we just watch the Quidditch match!" Beatrix shot her two younger brothers a swift glare as she shoved note pads in their hands. "This is one of the biggest matches of the season, the first time Gryffindor and Slytherin get to battle it out since, the War. I need you to to gather all the bloody details for me, I'm already understaffed as it is". They both gave her the exact same disappointed look at the same time. Twins. "Can't you get Callista to do it?" The sound of the trumpet almost washed out Peter's voice. Bea hurriedly nudged her brothers down the steps, "She's in the match, now get out there and get my story". She watched the two admit defeat and finally trudge down the steps of the Hufflepuff section in the Pitch.

Beatrix tugged her coat closer to her body as the chilly winds of October began to settle in. She couldn't believe that it had already been a month since they all started. At first, it was weird and uncomfortable. Others were able to adjust back into the life of a student, but the lingering thoughts and feelings still held others back, she truly didn't know where she stood. Bea couldn't deny that every time she walked through the halls she couldn't help but hear the echoed screams of those who had lost their lives in the Battle. However, regardless of the pain she had promised herself to be a strong support to others and immediately threw herself back into the paper. It proved to be quite helpful, and rather calming not to mention she was working on a rather lengthy piece about the war itself.

She stood by the edge of the railing to the Hufflepuff seating section, pen at the ready as she watched the players (from her view they looked like little ants) march across the field and get into positions. She hadn't seen some of her friends yet, but the majority of them knew how preoccupied she became when she writing. Her face crinkled into a smile as she recognized some of her friends on the field and let of a little cheer, "Lets go Calli!".

Moments later her pen and pad went flying out of her hands and onto the ground of the already packed floor of the Hufflepuff section. A group of students (who she hadn't seen before) pushed past her rather aggressively. "Excuse me - ?" She said rather confused as they didn't even give her a second glance. How rude She thought to herself as she watched the group pave a path to the underside of the stand. Call it an inkling, or feeling, but something felt utterly wrong. Suddenly she lost sight of the group as the students around her shot up in cheers, waving their hats and scarves around as Madame Hooch signaled the start of the match.

She scrambled to pick up her pen and pad before pushing through the crowd to follow the students that had just past her. As she got closer to the exit she saw the tail end of the last student disappearing down the steps, and quickly ran after them being careful to keep her distance. She had no clue if anyone had picked up on her little curiosity, she hadn't seen her friends yet, but as she descended the steps the bad feeling in her gut only grew.

Gregory Halliwell wasn't having a particularly great day. He had managed to oversleep, lose his homework for transfiguration, and miss breakfast entirely. A great start to his first Quidditch match of the season. Gregory had already had a difficult time adjusting back into school after all the horrible crimes his father and sister committed, deep down it was humiliating for him. He'd never felt more alone in his life. He had a few friends here and there, Kade was one of the most understanding, but he didn't go one day without getting a rather harsh glare from a classmate. Being instantly defined by his family was wearing away on him, and he spent the majority of the year already keeping to himself. At least he still had Quidditch. Which he was late for.

He had to dash to get to the game in time, and he knew that Lydon wouldn't be too happy with him. Lyndon was a blood supremacists, a typical "evil" Slytherin, and the biggest asshat he knew. The only reason the boy got Captain was because his father handed over a large sum of money to the Quidditch team, Rory knew Viv or Esme would've been a much better match for their captain. He got a poignant glare as he dashed into the Slytherin locker room from Lyndon. "Sorry, I got caught up-" Lyndon cut him off rather abruptly, "Does it look like I care about your excuse? Get ready". Rory held his tongue and just nodded, hurriedly grabbing his pads from the locker and putting them on while Lyndon gave them a pre-game speech. "The Gryffindors already think they have this in the bag, which makes them careless. I will not lose this first game to them. Stupid mistakes today will cost you your position so I suggest everyone play like their life bloody well depended on it, do whatever you need to do to win. Now get out there". Everyone shuffled out of the locker room, but Lyndon blocked the exit with his hulking figure before Rory could follow his teammates. "I don't appreciate you being late Halliwell, do it again and your off the team" It was a curt threat but Rory was rather unfazed, Lyndon was all bark and no bite.

The wind whipped his curly hair around as he walked out on to the field following Esme and Viv out. He watched the Gryffindors do the same, his eyes on Hana and Cordelia, they were great, fierce chasers and would definitely be a strong match for him to face. Regardless, Gregory always enjoyed a challenge. At the sound of Madame Hooch's whistle he was up in the air, the Quaffle flying straight to the middle of the field. He made a beeline for the ball managing to snatch it first, tucking it underneath his right arm. He maneuvered through a sea of red and gold players furiously trying to protect the Quaffle, nearly getting knocked off his broom by a bludger. Just as they had practiced the day before, Karen Spinnet, one of the beaters had distracted Rohdlig with a bludger directly to his face, and Gregory launched the Quaffle through the 2nd ring. He grinned (for the first time in months) as he heard the satisfying ring of the bell along with

"TEN POINTS FOR SLYTHERIN".
