Horror at Shell Creek Mansion

Horror at Shell Creek Mansion

Shell Creek Mansion

The Thomas family was sure they had found the house of their dreams when they came across the Shell Creek Mansion. The small town of Brookside Massachusetts was the perfect place to raise they're newly formed family. Mr. and Mrs Thomas (names will be put in when characters are taken) had both been married and divorced and felt they would never find love again. But the pair bonded and found love in each other and decided to combine their families. They knew they wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of Boston so they decided to find a new place to raise they're growing family.

But things are not as they seem Shell Creek has been known for many years as one of the most haunted places in Brookside. Unfortunate for the Thomas's the realtor failed to give this little bit of information to the newly married pair. The Thomas children and they're new step mothers children are not getting along as well as their parents would like them to. Tension is growing between them and they tend to fight and quarrel with one another more then anything. And the fact that they moved from their homes in Boston to and old dusty house miles away from their school friends and peers does not help.

Shell Creek Mansion...a sad frightening past.

We're going to travel back to a time when things were simpler, quieter, but that doesn't make it any safer or saner. The year is 1908 the Cambridge family is a wealthy, affluent family in the small town of Brookside Massachusetts. Patriarch of the young family is Douglas Cambridge a wealthy gun merchant who inherited the family business at a young age after the death of his father in 1900. A year after his fathers death Douglas took it upon himself to prove to the banks that threatened to take the company, that he was not too young to run the business. It was also the year he married his wife Elleanor. Almost nine months to the day of they're marriage she gave birth to their first child, a boy who they named Vincent.

It was also in this time that Douglas proved his worth to his father's company and doubled the profits. The young couple became very wealthy, very quickly and rumors spread around town that despite Douglas' business smarts, he had a affinity for strong whiskey and loose women. Elleanor tried her best to ignore the rumors but the fact that her husband spent many nights away from home, made her only worry. In between 1901 and 1904 she had three miscarriages, and she was beginning to wonder if she would ever have another child, when she found herself pregnant once again. This leading to the birth of the Cambridge's second child a daughter by the name of Iris, Elleanor doted on her children and they were considered by many in town to be spoiled. Douglas on the other hand seemed to try to avoid his children as much as possible and spent more time away from his family either out of town on business trips or in seedy parts of Brookside.

By 1907 it was becoming apparent to many in town that the young Mr. Cambridge was a corrupt business man that owed money to many people. If not for bad business deals or his unsavory sexual escapades, it was also around this time that Elleanor became pregnant with their third child. She gave birth to another boy that was named Henry, with Iris still quite young and Vincent becoming a precocious young boy who tended to get into trouble a nanny was hired to help care for the children.

Eva Goldstein was an attractive eighteen year old girl from a poor family in Boston, needless to say Douglas became infatuated with young nanny. Taking advantage of the naive girl he did one of the most offensive things a man could do to his wife, and unknown to him was caught in they bed he shared with Eva by his wife. Elleanor not wanting to subject her family or herself to the humiliation of what her husband had done decided to keep it behind closed doors and try to ignore it. Eva however had other plans she had fallen madly in love with Douglas and began to grow very jealous of Mrs. Cambridge. Eva decided that the only way that she could be with Douglas was to get rid of Elleanor and the children.

In 1908 Eva took it upon herself to poison Elleanor Cambridge and the children slowly, since she had the duty of preparing meals for the family. So each day Eva would put a little in their food, this became apparent almost immediately. But it was assumed by the inept, town doctor that the young mother and the children had contracted influenza. After a few weeks Eva's deed was done with Elleanor and her three young children buried in the family cemetery not to far from her home at Shell Creek Mansion.

Eva by this point was so full of guilt she decided to confess to Douglas what she had done. She found him chopping wood outside of the mansion and upon hearing what Eva had done he became enraged. Chasing Eva through the house with and ax he finally cornered her in the master bedroom. Douglas after this decided with all his problems, the company finances, the murder of his family and now the rage filled justice he had just dealt Eva all was too much for him to bare so he took his hunting rifle and took his own life...

Shell Creek Mansion changed hands many times over the years, tales of ghosts and rumors of this sending many of the house's owners either running in fear or slipping into madness. The house soon fell into disrepair and was thought to be forgotten that is until the Thomas family moved to Brookside.

1. -Have Fun-
This is always my first rule because that's what we're all here for.

2. -No Godmodding-
This is a simple rule in my opinion, don't take control of anyone's character without their permission.

3. -Be Respectful-
This is just a given respect me and your fellow RP'ers it's common courtesy.

4. -No text speak-
You'd be surprised how many people think this is alright. I run a semi literate RP Im not going to be the spelling or grammar Natzi but try to make your posts make sense.

5. -Write in third person-
I want the roleplay to read like a story, its hard for me to follow RP's in first person.

6. -No one liners-
I understand writers block but please make an effort to make your post at least a paragraph.

7. -Post Frequently-
Now this doesn't mean flood the RP with one liners, this means try to post with some regularity. Try to get a few post in per week, and if you post more then that let a couple of posts go up before you post again.

8. -Stay the Course-
If you take the time to make a character, why make a few posts and then quit? I'm looking for committed roleplayers so if you're not going to stick with it don't bother making a character. You can however let me know if for some reason you're not able to post. Communication is key to having a successful roleplay, you can either PM me or leave a message in the OOC.

9. -What I say Goes-
This is a given, but that doesn't mean I'm a total hard ass. I'm pretty easy going and open minded so it's not to hard to talk to me. I'm sure that if you just PM me we can come up with something that works well for everyone in the RP. Don't be afraid I wont bite.

10. -Stay Active in the OOC-
I am a firm believer that communication between roleplayers is key to a good roleplay. When people are interacting out of character thats when lots of interesting ideas are made by combing everyone's creativity. The best place to keep in touch is in the OOC, check it every once in a while you might find important information that I have posted. Or someone may have come up with a really good idea that you can stand behind.
