Personality:
Politely insulting. That is the sentence which sums up Kamai. Saying he had no manners would be like saying his emerald eyes were a wonderful shade of grey; his manners are a part of him and it's so obvious, it can be a right pain in the backside. He addresses others with '-sama' or '-san', depending how much he likes them. Always, he'll greet someone formally whether they are the closest of friends or an acquaintance he met the day before and almost never allows himself to drop his manners unless the situation calls for a different approach. Even the way he stands is refined, and he doesn't let himself slouch or alter his posture as he feels it rids him of the self-confident air which follows him around.
However, having incredibly good manners does not mean you are kind in any sense of the word. Blessed, if you'd like to call it that, with a quick wit and a sharp tongue, sarcastic insults roll off his tongue like water tumbles down a waterfall. He tends to offend people by lacing these insults into his sentences like it's nothing, yet Kamai only applies these short, snappy comments at people who annoy him in any sort of way. Peppy people slot into that category along with salesmen and people who try to make conversation without an inch of confidence in them.
Even though he tries to keep his emotions bottled up, Kamai sometimes just snaps completely and drops the manners, instead resorting to informal slang and acting more like a rebellious, trouble seeking teenager. When this happens, he'll usually show off a lot more anger than usual, and maybe shout a lot more and a lot louder. That's just how he is, but it's generally hidden behind a thick cloud of silence. Despite having such a large personality, Kamai like to keep to himself and say as little words a possible to lead a somewhat ordinary life. He stays quiet as a mouse, perhaps due to being a shy little tyke in the past or perhaps due to his developing hatred towards all people. Soft smirks are a trademark of his, after all, and he likes to grin outright when people are just being plain stupid.
One unexpected thing is how much he can drop his mask under the right circumstances. Yes, he is a but of a jerk and likes to laugh at the misfortune of others, schadenfreude, if you will, but he becomes unnaturally insecure when he is confused about something. He doesn't like not knowing and that's obvious as hell. And if you tease him for it expecting anger and shouting, you are in for one hell of a surprise. Kaima will get hurt and upset. Yes. Upset. Kaima. He'll tear up, and then get aggravated at himself for doing so, and then he'll most likely turn into a fox and run away.
Oh, and also (while we're on the subject of his good side), he really likes being petted. Well, unless it's by someone he hates. Then he'll attempt to bite their hand off. And, god, if you give him food... Well, don't. He'll become like a child and will forever implant you in his mind as 'person who give me food' so he'll just keep coming back. But give him a snack and pet him; he'll become like a soft teddy bear. A few signs of kindness, and you're gone. He'll warm up immediately, become over-cuddly, and what one would call clingy. His personality passes through this cycle over and over again. Becoming oddly carefree, Kaimacan show a quiet side when someone is feeling down, but with his I-don't-give-a-cow personality, he'll make sure that person is feeling right as rain in no time. It's a bit like going from one extreme to the other, and he'll do it daily too. Oh, and do not be surprised if you wake up and he's latching onto you. But this only works if you give him some sort of dessert or sweet. He gets overly clingy if you show a sign of kindness.
Likes:
Being petted, food (if it's sweet), rain, the seaside, tea, books, mathematics, acting, learning things, being right, drawing (the only things he can draw are extremely cute chibis, and that doesn't really get his point across), puddles, annoying people, fire.
Dislikes:
Sunshine, cats, draughts, vandalism, graffiti, being hungry, being tired, people who keep their problems bottled up (even though he does it himself), people in general, all insects & bugs. Oh, and bitter foods.
Talents:
Playing the piano, reading, singing, ignoring people. Also, he can cook pretty damn well. Mouthwateringly well.
Flaws:
Well, he's a bit of a jerk. And by a bit, I mean a lot. And by a lot, I mean too much.
Bio:
Before becoming a spirit, well, everything is kind of blurry. He remembers annoying his brother to no end and having daily arguments with his parents, but it was a while ago and Kamai is someone who likes to live for 'NOW'. But he also has no idea how he becamea spirit. One day he wasn't and bam, there he was. A lot closer to the ground and bright red; a kitsune. He remembers finding the bathhouse though. Taking a bath with money he'd cheated out of humans with pranks, and deciding he had to stay.
Other:
He can have kitsune ears and a tail, but as a shapeshifter-type spirit, he kind of chooses not to. Sometimes though, he gets over excited and they pop out.
Relationships:
(Can be with characters if any, or NPCs such as parents, a Youkai [not character], a stuffed toy, etc.)
Character Thoughts Towards Others:
Mizu
He and Mizu seem to have a mutual agreement. Well, not really. He just acts like himself and she stays quiet most of the time. But that works.
Sumiko
Geez, he tries to get along with her but he just doesn't get on well with cats. In his books, the relationship isn't going too bad... I mean, sure, the odd (daily) sly comment, but that's it.
Yamoto
Unexpectedly, Kamai has some respect going on for Yamoto. I mean, he's literally dying to beat him in a drinking battle and even tries not to be too jerk-ish around him. And that says a lot.
Mami
What can he even say here? He likes her and all, so he just lets her get on with her business without protesting. I mean, it's her job to be bossy, so what can he do about it? She gave him a job too, which counts as good.
Izumo
He... doesn't like having someone motherly around, but it can't be helped. I mean, he acts like that but what if she pets him?
Kai
Well, Kamai can't really explain much about Kai. He's got the cute/innocent look going, and he understands what it's like to be short as hell. But gah, Kamai will just never understand Canadians... Kaima does make an effort to be nice, but often teases him childishly.
