The streets of the little neighborhood at the outskirt of Tokyo were quiet, and almost eerily so. Now and then a lone dog barking in the distance could be heard, or group of kids who were up to no good talking to each other and laughing. Yet these were few and far between, just like the cars passing by, casting a momentary light over the otherwise dark street.

Seated against the wall of a tall building in an alleyway was a jersey wearing young man, his long bangs casting a shadow over his jade green eyes, making them unidentifiable to anyone passing by, if that were even to happen at this hour and in this location. They did their job of hiding the tears spilling onto his cheeks well, however, so Dominic had little reason to complain. With the back of his filthy hand he wiped them, muttering inaudible something to himself before wrapping his fingers tightly around the neck of the spirit bottle next to him.

"Damn this all," he whispered bitterly, tightening his grip of the bottle, lifting it up slightly to gaze into it. There was barely any alchohol left. He grimaced, and then suddenly he froze. There was the sound of a movement somewhere nearby. His heart lurched and his eyes widened as he pressed himself against the ally wall, hoping to go unnoticed to whomever might be there. Soon enough, however, he dark shadow flitted out from behind a container, revealing itself to be a stray cat. Dominic sighed, relaxing slightly as he pulled his knees close to his chest and shut his eyes, shivering with cold.

I don't want to do this anymore,
Dominic thought to himself, gritting his teeth and holding his head tightly between his palms. His whole being was shaking as silent sobs escaped his lips. I don't want to, I don't want to...please...someone, let me die. Let me die... "I can't stand this any longer. I don't want to, I don't want to..." his whisper was shaky and his voice thick with emotion. More tears rolled down his cheek and again, he tried to wipe them. They trickled down his wrist, mingling with the blood running from his self inflicted wounds.

He had already relinquished all hope that anything would ever change, and long since had Dominic turned his back on God. He knew he would never be able to break this evil circle had been forced into by himself- so what reason was there for him to live? All he had ever wanted was to feel true happiness, but every time, just as he thought he had it... it slipped away from him. Almost like it had never been there in the first place. If life granted him nothing but pain and suffering, what reason would there be for him to struggle? If he had nothing left to hold on to, why not just let it all go? Even Dominic realized there was no reason behind the choice of continuing to force yourself thorough a never ending maze of agony. For him, there was no hope.

"I just want it all to end," Dominic stared at his bloodied hands for quite a while before shaking his head and curling up tighter, shutting his eyes. I don't want to do this anymore...

Somewhere over in the distance, the sun lazily began to rise over the horizon, casting out all of the looming shadows and bathing the world in a glorious, luminous light. Morning was upon Tokyo.

Little did Dominic- or any of the other few individuals selected by fate; realize what was lurking deep within these shadows- or what was to come.

Drip, drip, drip... The sounds of the IV echoed through the lonely hospital room. A girl with long white hair stared softly at the IV drip, watching the contents go through the tube and through the needle in the crease of her arm. A sigh escaped from the young woman. She glanced up at the ceiling. Thoughts spread across her mind as she did.

'Tomorrow will be the day... won't it? I'll die tomorrow...' The girl frowned. Death couldn't come sooner enough. She had been ready to die since she turned 16. No one in the world would miss her so why should she care? Her parents sure as hell didn't. Neither did her sister... The girl stared out of the window. The sun was already starting to rise... She hated mornings. They just served as a reminder that the world would continue on without her and it bothered her a lot.

"Miss Tachibana? I've brought some breakfast..." One of the nurses chirped as she opened the door and placed the food on the girl's bed. She stared up at the nurse and nodded.

"Thank you..." The nurse sniffled a bit and tears were leaking out.

"Forgive me, Miss Akane, but... It's just too sad that you have to die tomorrow..."

Painful...? Akane frowned a bit, to the nurse took it to mean that Akane was agreeing with her, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Akane was secretly angry at the nurse for saying such a thing. She was going to miss her? What a bunch of lies... She would never be missed and she knew it. Her parents wouldn't miss her. All they would miss was the time they wasted pretending to care about her. Akane then gave the nurse a small smile.

"Please, don't cry for me. I've accepted that I was going to die. I'm not looking forward to it but I've accepted it and I'm not afraid."

Part of that statement was false. Akane was ecstatic for her death. No one would miss her and she wouldn't miss anyone so she just wanted to die and get it over with. The nurse bowed and walked out of the room, obviously still upset. Akane sighed as she was relieved to be away from the ignorant woman. Staring at the meal in front of her, she saw tea and some form of cereal. She took a few bites of the cereal before drinking the tea. She never did eat much anymore. She then looked around the hospital room.

'God... I hate you for torturing me like this... Why couldn't I just die today and get it over with?'

Unknown to Akane, seven other individuals were thinking the exact same thing. And unknown to all of them, they were all being watched by mysterious figures; figures that would change their destiny, for better or for worse...

Belial reclined lazily, arms folded behind his head and eyes shut against the surrounding darkness. A warm breeze stirred, briefly ruffling his long hair out of place but within moments the air was still again as though it had never moved at all. Time always seemed to move slowly when he was in this languid state between contracts, if it was moving at all. It wasn't that he despised this kind of idleness, but he did bore very easily and began to long for the distractions a master would bring. A meal would not go amiss either...

A slight frown crossed Belial's features in irritation. It truly had been a while since he had last had the pleasure of gorging himself. Fleetingly the demon's thoughts turned to the owner of the last soul he had consumed, and he found himself more than mildly amused at discovering he could remember neither their name or face. It had been a female, that he was fairly certain of...long hair, but had it been fair or dark? He could still recall she had tasted utterly delectable, and that was more than enough for him. Why clog up his thoughts by memories of those one could never meet again? It wasn't as if a human could expect to obtain any form of afterlife after surrendering their soul to the scavenging hounds known as demons. Better to simply forget all those he had contracted with before, or remember their souls if nothing else. All of the humans he met were so similar as well; different faces perhaps, different beings, but underneath they were all just as desperate for their desires to be granted. Belial paused in his musings, smiling faintly as he felt a small prick of consciousness. Speak of the devil... A human phrase, but a fitting one nevertheless. To think a poor lost lamb would call out to me just as my stomach began to rumble...I suppose I had better make a move before one of the other vultures swoop in.

Gracefully jumping to his feet Belial slowly opened his eyes, extending his darkness to wrap around Dominic and intruding on the boy's despair. "Is it truly thy wish to die, child...?" He asked slowly, for now hiding his figure from the boy so that he could merely be heard but not seen as he looked over Dominic appraisingly. The boy was young, that much was certain. Perhaps not young enough to be considered a child but possibly the youngest Belial had ever contracted with. If he was satiated possibly he would feel pity, or even guilt for attempting to feed off him, but...in order to summon the demon the boy must already be in fairly dire circumstances, and what Belial did certainly wasn't evil by his standards. To take such a poor, despairing human on the brink of death and grant their wish before bestowing upon them a peaceful eternal rest. "If thine deepest desire could be granted by my power, wouldst thou truly still choose to die...?

Drip-drop...drip-drop...

A world of darkness, a world of nothingness. Black is the sky, black is the ground, black is the sea, there is no sound.

Drip-drop, drip-drop...

I can't feel the flow, yet time will never stop. How much has passed? I know not.

Drip-drop...drip-drop...

Here I stand alone, in my flower field, by other entities unseen. No one will hear you scream. A carpet of roses, oh so white. The color of innocence, the bringer of blight.

Drip-drop, drip-drop..drop...

Shiranui's eyes snapped open, though little a difference did it make. Around naught but an all encompassing darkness, stretching out eternally in every direction; a void in itself. Though it appeared completely silent at first, somewhere in the distance the noise of droplets hitting a water surface sounded, making an ever so slight echo. Sometimes the dripping sound appeared to be louder, closer... and sometimes, it appeared to be far away, quieter. Nevertheless, the pacing of how the droplets made impact with the water surface remained the same- without fail. Not once since Shiranui returned to land of neither the living nor the dead, her very own realm... had this pattern been broken. Well, at least not until now.

Somewhere, there was a consciousness nudging the surface of Shiranui's world. Someone in so much despair, so much pain and suffering... be it physiological or mental, it mattered not. All Shiranui needed was pain, a consciousness or subconsciousness desperately trembling for a way out, and thus having abandoned their belief in God... or having completely given up up, depending if they were actually religious in the first place or not (and, of course, to which religion they belonged). Either way, someone was desperately crying out for help...and fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately, depending on how one chose to view it), Shiranui had heard her cry.

It appeared she was being summoned.

The silver haired demoness extended the reach of her realm towards the girl; wrapped her in it, pulled her into the black void of nothingness. Beneath the girl a field of white roses spread out, extending itself endlessly in every direction, just as the darkness of the nonexistent sky did. For the moment, Shiranui let herself become invisible to the human, causing her low and calm, emotionless voice to appear to be coming from everywhere.

"Human who has turned your back on God and abandoned all hope... is it truly your wish to depart the world of the living in such a pitiful state?"
her quiet yet powerful voice echoed through the darkness.

Although he could swear that just moments ago, the sun begun rising, bathing everything in it's orange light... Dominic suddenly found himself surrounded completely by darkness. Had he gotten himself drunk enough to faint? No, that couldn't be it. Fainting usually didn't feel like he was still completely awake and had control over himself (more or less), and simply surrounded by emptiness. Perhaps he had fallen asleep without noticing, and this was now a dream? Yet it didn't really feel quite like a dream, either. Had he just finally snapped and was now hallucinating? Quite possible, the teenage boy thought to himself, despite not being completely convinced about that explanation either. Either way, the physical pain he had been feeling before seemed to somehow... have been dulled. It was quite a relief, of course... but didn't exactly help explaining the situation.

Confusion, and perhaps a tinge of fear, lasted only for a moment, however.

"Is it truly thy wish to die, child...? If thine deepest desire could be granted by my power, wouldst thou truly still choose to die...?"

Domenic frowned, trying to make sense of the words this almighty, just slightly annoying, dramatic, bodiless voice seeming to come from nowhere was saying. His head wasn't hurting quite as bad as it had done before, anymore, and he wasn't feeling as drunk either... but the manner the voice spoke in was totally outdated and reminded him of the homework (back when he still actually went to school) he had simply sort of ignored because it was boring. Dominic's attention span was generally very short, especially when he was bored. Thus, he was almost painfully easy to distract.

"I don't remember signing up for taking part in some terrible B-movie... I'm on the verge of suicide and you totally ruined the dramatic feeling I so carefully built up. It sort of pisses me off. Besides, I can't even understand half of what you're saying. If you would please be so kind and rephrase your question in actual Japanese, I might listen to whatever crap you wanna say..."

Akane had blinked a bit. As soon as she was ready to go back to sleep to ease the pain, something seemed to pull her to an unfamiliar world. The only source of light seemed to come from the white roses underneath her. Everything else was darkness.

'How interesting...'

Akane believed this to be a dream. She was too comfortable to move. After all, the roses were much softer than her hospital bed ever was. As she laid there, she could hear a voice amidst the drops of water.

"Human who has turned your back on God and abandoned all hope... is it truly your wish to depart the world of the living in such a pitiful state?"

Akane was a little irritated by the voice. It was feminine and soft with no emotion. The voice was comforting but the question that came out of it annoyed her.

"What kind of a question is that? Of course I wish to die. Although... Would you like to hear a story? That is... if you can even understand me. You see, there once was a girl with white hair who lived in a castle. She had a loving family and everything seemed to be happy... That was, until the girl turned 14. Then she began to cough up blood. Her family stopped caring for her. They only needed her so that they looked good. They only cared for their own egos and abandoned the girl. Her sister tried to stay but she too ignored the girl in her time of need. The girl grew bitter and hated the world and the God who created it. If you haven't guessed it by now, the girl in the story is me. I'm tired of living... though, if there is one thing I would like to get back before I pass on... It would be three more years. I want back the three years of my life that were wasted being sick. I want to live for three more years. Then, I will die happily. Such a thing is impossible though... Miracles and God don't exist..."

Akane looked up at the dark sky, still annoyed.

'Why did I tell this calming voice my life...? Who is she anyway?'

Belial watched the boy's reaction closely, feeling satisfied by the initial apparent wariness and confusion that appeared on his face. That was the normal reaction to being presented with a situation like this, of course. That and intense fear, although it did vary from person to person. His smug smile disappeared quickly once the boy spoke however, his eye twitching slightly in irritation. Who does this damn brat think he's talking to...? Is this supposed to be some kind of bluster? Such a disagreeable child would surely make an awful master... Belial's lip curled as he wondered whether he could back out of this now, leave the brat for some other demon foolish enough to make a contract with him...but he was fairly hungry. And he had dealt with unpleasant personalities before. He couldn't let this brat force him to back off, after all. A mere human, simple prey in the face of a great demon such as himself.

"This sort of experience is arguably more dramatic than breathing your last in an alleyway surrounded by empty bottles and with a stray cat for company, but very well...I am offering you the chance to fulfil your deepest desire, child. The offer I am making you would bind me into your service, to obey you unconditionally until the day your wish has been achieved. After that I will have to take my payment, but...I believe this path would still be preferable to you compared to dying a nameless death as trash once I resume your time. So, what say you? Unless this has once again been too complicated for you to understand...shall we make a contract? As for the price for my loyalty...I suggest you do not worry about it. It cannot be taken until you are dead, after all," Belial finished, chuckling softly.

It was early dawn and the sun had just risen passed the horizon. At this hour most people would be asleep, it would be quiet and because it was a Sunday most people would sleep till late. But this morning was different; there where loud noises from sirens, and a huge commotion in one particular small neighborhood at the outskirt of Tokyo. In this small community everyone was awake. There where clusters of people talking, trying to figure out what had happened.

Well not everyone was awake, not the Kurosawa family. They where a rich family, and where the owners of the largest house in the area- equivalent to a small mansion.

There was a reason for why they weren’t awake; a tragic one at that. Just a few hours earlier, a group buglers had broken into the small mansion, which would normally not be a problem. They had a great security system, yet unfortunately on this particular night, it wasn't working properly. It had already been broken for two days and should have been repaired today. The unknowing family were still been asleep until their last moment.

The husband and wife were murdured in their sleep. The only daughter of the family had been stabbed and shot, yet miraculously was still alive.

The police was investigating the crime scene. Tere where four corpses altogether; the mother, the father and two of the suspects. There was also a katana nearby, which had been used to kill the suspects. The culprit of the suspects murder, was still unidentified. Not that anyone would believe the truth, either. The one who had murdered them was that Rin, the daughter. Yet the fact remained, who would ever believe a fourteen year old girl, a physically small one at that, could kill two grown men? The thought had never even crossed their mind.

The police also wondered how meany culprits there really had been. They knew there were more than two, as witnesses had told them that they had seen suspicious looking men running off towards the woods. Yet no one was able to identify exactly how many they were.

The only one who knew the answer to both of these questions, was the unconscious girl, who now was on her way to the hospital. She was badly injured and desperately clinging on to life, refusing to let it slip away. Despite her efforts, the doctor with her knew she most likely wouldn't make it. At most, she had a few days left... even those, however, wouldn't be without pain and suffering.

Akiko Nakamura, one of the policemen investigating the case of the murdered family knew very well that if Rin Kurosawa died, the case would remain forever unsolved. She was the only one who knew exactly what had transpired that night.

Despite this knowledge, he didn't want to give up on this case. He wanted to know what kind of monsters could find it within themselves to do something this horrible to a family. He wanted to know who had tried to save the girl. And more than anything else, he wanted to keep his own daughter safe from things like this. Something about this case was... almost alluring. It didn't feel quite natural.

What he didn't know was that this was going to become his last case.

Rin was unconscious, but still wished strongly to live; she wished to unravel the secret behind her parents murder, and she wished for company. She was scared of being alone.

Xerxes, the male that had moved from a foreign country to study abroad, wasn't feeling much of anything. He wasn't sad, angered, or detesting anyone in particular. At most, he just felt sort of empty... and tired. He had planned out the day to the best of his ability. His decision hadn't been spontaneous. No, it had been perfectly planned out, his form of a joke. He knew exactly at what time he was to come. He knew exactly at what moment the door to the roof of his family's building would be open. He knew exactly how to leave a message to be delivered after his death. He had thought out all variables and consants, or at least he imagined so. It wasn't like it actually mattered or so he tried to tell himself. A little voice, one born from him constantly being pushed to be 'perfect', told him that it did matter whether or not his death was planned and caused no inconvenience. He hated the voice, but it was his own, so there wasn't much he could do.

He spun his keychain around his finger nonchalantly, trying to get himself calmed. Death wasn't a laughing matter, and not even he could just blow it off with his normal apathy. He was however, mostly worried about how the death would happen, worried that it would turn he forgot to include something in his plan and he'd end up dying a slow death.

His keys went flying from his fingers, but he didn't necessarily care. They ended up landing somewhere further on the roof of the building, but he didn't get up to get them. He wouldn't need them where he was, if everything worked out as he planned, going. He looked towards the sky, looking for a sign.

No, he wasn't looking for any sort of holy message, one that would tell him to save himself. He wouldn't follow the message, even if he believed in a god. He was looking for something else, something he knew existed. A plane, or rather, a private jet. This specific little jet, if his information was right, contained his Father and Mother who were going to another country.

He scanned the sky and, after a few minutes, managed to catch it with his eyes. He couldn't think of anything dramatic to say that wouldn't sound cliche and forced, so he just walked off the building, which was unluckily way too high for his comfort. "Shi-" He closed his mouth before cursing, mostly so he wouldn't accidentally ingest any flying insects. Still, the ground was annoyingly far away.

AS it turned out, he didn't want to die. He had been acting ridiculously illogical, so damn illogical, and he regretted ever coming up to the roof. There wasn't much he could do except count off the seconds until his inevitable impact. He wasn't scared, but he didn't want to die either. His intelligence however, couldn't much to help him in the dire situation he was in. He was going too fast to safely stop, and he didn't see any way of doing so. As such, he closed his eyes. He wasn't scared of death, but he was afraid of the pain.

"What a tender little morsel," Suki Takahashi licked her fingers, the sweet taste of a soul lingering on her tongue. She wiped her mouth and turned from the scene, the dead body disintegrating into nothing. After six months of serving this reckless being she had finally rid him of his soul. "Not a bad review yet," she giggled and slipped on her gloves to cover up the receding mark of the rose. Something caught her notice and Suki turned towards the window where she heard a sound that delighted her sensitive ears. A plea for help, a realization that someone did not want to die.

"Aw, sweet revelation." She said as she jumped out of the second story of the large house and landed with barely a tap! On the ground. Suki was in the upper class area of Tokyo and the cry was coming from a much smaller, lower class area. These were her favorites, the one who wished for wealth or fame because they were quick and painless. Although sometimes Suki wished she got someone interesting, someone with a vendetta. Maybe in the future, but today would not be that day!

Suki's body turned into nothing but an outline as the change took over, she had a different appearance that helped her collect souls. Suki was very angelic looking for a demon and some of the contracts she had forged were made under the premise that she was an angel; Suki wasn't lying, she just never bothered to correct them. Her short pink and yellow dress turned into a long white one, her pink pigtails undoing and turning into protracted, beautiful locks. Suki moved quickly as she didn't want some other demon harping in on her prize.

She could see the pathetic being now, about to cut too deep into the vein of her wrist. With a flick of her white gloved hand, time froze and darkness shrouded the two. A giggle filled the dark space and a whimsical voice filtered in, speaking in Japanese. "Is this truly how you wish to die little human? Suki emerged from the blackness, looking adorable and angelic as always. Floating orbs of light shrouded her, giving the demon a glowing air. With another flicker of her gloved wrist she brought up a table with two chairs and tea service. "Because if it is, I can resume time and you can bleed to death if you'd like, her smile was sweet, as if she were asking how many sugar cubes the human would like in her tea. "If not, however, I can help you achieve your greatest desire. I will serve and protect you until this goal is reached. Suki smoothed down her dress and took a seat, crossing her long, skinny legs. "Payment will be discussed later as you probably won't need it once you're dead anyways." This black space with the tea party was all an illusion, time really was frozen, but everything else, including the tea and cakes, were all fake.

"Would you like to form a contract?"

Death sneaks up on humans, it does not make sense. The only reason they are alive is to die, what other reason could there be? But yet every time a loved one dies the close relatives are shocked, as if they never herd of death! This is common knowledge for a demon, death comes for all at one point, it is just how you die that matters. Do you chose to accept your fate or do you prolong the despair and pain just for a chance of redemption?

Naoko, a fair demon, some wouldn't consider her one because of her personality but none the less she still signs contracts and claims souls just like others. She likes to prolong her adventures out in the world it is always an interesting time; but she does love the taste of souls… so maybe she won't prolong it too long.

A cry could be heard, not a cry more like a whimper. Something was unusual about this whimper, it wasn't the casual suicide, hates life, whimper it was a frustrated but defeated whimper. Naoko jumped on the chance, she followed the noise of the girl, as she got closer she could see the girl, she was injured, no dieing she wasn't going to make it through the night.

“Perfect” Naoko whispered to herself. She pulled the young girl into her realm; enveloping the girl in all black, she was sucked into the demon realm with Naoko. The only light source was a small hole from above, the hospital room could be seen, all of the doctors and nurses rushing to save her would silently work above the hole. In a teasing voice trying to push the girls buttons, “Well it looks like you are going to die… death has taken you parents and now she is coming back to take you with them…” Naoko walked out of the shadow up to the girl. “But of course I know a way to help you… for a payment of course… but for now do you really want to die? Do you want to just lie down and accept a fate that someone else caused you? Or do you want to rise up and do whatever your heart desires?” Naoko smiled at the young girl, she can tell that this girl had something very special about her but Naoko couldn't put her finger on it. “You can have one wish and I will assist you until your wish is complete, so make your choice and either die or have your greatest desire.”

Shiranui listened to the girls story in silence, not even once attempting to interrupt her. Indeed it was true that the demoness had never asked to hear the girls story, and in a way... she found it almost ridicules how the girl was telling her all this. The reason as to why one made a contract didn't interest her one bit, as long as the contract was made and she would later have a soul to feed on. Yet even she found it rude to interrupt when a person found in themselves to open their heart, even if it was to a demon and under ridicules circumstances. Well, that, and Shiranui wasn't much of a speaker, either, so she certainly didn't mind remaining silent for as long as possible. Even better, the girls senseless rambling had put words in Shiranui's mouth. Words she could turn to her advantage.

"I want to live for three more years. Then, I will die happily. Such a thing is impossible though... Miracles and God don't exist..."

"Three years, without the suffering or pain of your illness is what you desire most?" Shiranui asked as she materialized right in front of the girl. She was wearing a a simple white kimono, matching her silver colored hair. She trained her gray blue, emotionless eyes on the sickly human, gently sliding her hand under her yaw before tilting her head up slightly. "Miracles don't exist, that is true. I will not speak for God, since I truly don't know the answer to the question myself. Yet this is a wish I am capable of granting you," she paused for a moment, gently tracing her thin and elegant finger across the girl's pale cheek, "... if you are willing to sacrifice your soul in exchange. Perhaps a meager prize to pay, when in the face of death..." her voice had become nothing more but a gentle whisper by the time she finished her proposal, as opposed to the completely emotionless tone in her voice just moments ago.

"This sort of experience is arguably more dramatic than breathing your last in an alleyway surrounded by empty bottles and with a stray cat for company, but very well...I am offering you the chance to fulfill your deepest desire, child."

Offering me the chance to fulfill my deepest desire? Dominic thought bitterly to himself, suppressing a laugh, How old does this con-artist think I am? It's not like you can wave a wand and suddenly everything you wish for comes true. It was a long time ago when I wished for a fairy godmother to find me and grant me a wish. Really long time ago. Besides, what right did he have to comment my decision to leave this world, no matter how pitiful the situation might seem? This guy is seriously pissing me off. Dominic's yaw tightened as he glared into the darkness; obviously his temper had been fired up by the demons words.

"Shut up!" the red haired teenager suddenly snapped, his voice laced with irritation, "If clichéd bullishit probably copied from some fancy novel or bad movie is all you have to say, then stop wasting my time and leave me alone. I-I... for all I know you could either be some sort of creep trying to trick me into something," it certainly wouldn't have been the first time, "or even worse, a hallucination..." he trailed off, rubbing his arm in thought for a moment. If this truly was just an hallucination, then perhaps he didn't have anything to lose. Hopefully it would go away soon, after all... but what if it was not? Or what if it actually wasn't a con-man- contrary to what Dominic believed? What if this strange voice in the darkness actually was speaking the truth? What if this was the chance he had been waiting for so long? Wasn't it worth taking a risk, if it could possibly end his pain? Worse than this it couldn't really get, after all... or so he was determined to believe.

Dominic decided to hear him out. It most likely wouldn't hurt, since he didn't know how to get rid of this voice in his head either way. Voice in my head? Man, it really does sound like I've lost it...

"The offer I am making you would bind me into your service, to obey you unconditionally until the day your wish has been achieved. It cannot be taken until you are dead, after all"

Bind himself to my service? That could actually be quite entertaining, Dominic thought to himself, the scowl from before like washed away as a hint of a smile tugged the corners of his lips and amusement sparked in his eyes. He instantly tried to restrain himself again, however, and forced his expression to remain serious. It was hard, though... when Dominic really wasn't capable of taking this whole situation particularly seriously.

Dominic didn't know what it was he truly desired. At the time, all he wanted was to escape this evil circle he had been living for so long. Yet he knew, that in the long run it wouldn't be what he would want. Perhaps what he truly wished for was to be loved and appreciated by someone- no longer to be alone. Yet this he wasn't really aware of himself, and even if he were, it would not be something he'd voice- be it to a fragment of his imagination or an unbelievably skilled conman. Then again, what did he have to lose? If whatever the weirdo wanted of him couldn't be taken until after his death, he would never know about it and probably never miss it. That it was Dominic's soul Belial was hinting at, didn't cross the redheaded youths mind even once.

His expression hardened slightly, a new look of determination burning in his jade eyes. "If you want me to make a contract with you, show yourself. Trusting a hallucination is just as bad as trusting a wacko stranger... but at least I'll know I haven't snapped yet."

Kanami clenched her fist together, and pressed the blade to her wrist. Dots of blood sprung up around her fingers and dripped almost rhythmically onto the wooden floor of her bedroom. She looked up, out of the window, and saw her chain necklace with a cross on it. Suddenly angry, Kanami strode over and threw the necklace on the floor, which upon contact, broke. Why should I believe in God? She thought to herself. God's done nothing for me except take away my Mother, even if God is real. She muttered. Her wrist was red with blood, and she pressed the razor to her wrist once again, trying to find a vein.

Mother... I'll see you again soon.

Then, darkness enveloped the room, and the blade clattered from her hand. The droplet of blood that had slid from her wrist slowed it's fall, and stopped in midair. Kanami, suddenly frightened, looked around the room. Why was something stopping her from seeing her mother again? She could escape everything.

A voice caught the attention of Kanami, and settled on the sight of the girl with pink hair, who was surrounded by light. Kanami squinted her eyes at the girl, before shielding them with her hand so she could try and see the girl better. It didn't work.

"Is this truly how you wish to die little human?

Yes... was Kanami's immediate answer in her head. She wanted to see her mother again, get away from her Father... But... But... Kanami was beginning to have doubts. Would her mother want her to die this way? Would she really, truly...

Kanami stood up from where she sat, and walked over to the table and chairs. She was trembling slightly, and she had bitten the inside of her lip so hard it had started to bleed. Which was, in the current situation, probably not a good idea. "Why shouldn't I wish to die?[i]" She asked her. "[i]My mother's dead, and it's all I can do to get away from my father." She pulled back the chair and sat down gently on it, on the edge of the seat. She sighed, and then asked; "Are you some sort of Shinigami?" Maybe she had already died, and this was what it was like... But she had said she could resume time. Maybe... Maybe not. She looked at the teacup, before shaking hands reached out and took the warm cup, before Kanami realized it was her hands. She sipped at it.

"What...What sort of contract?"

Rin was shrouded in darkness. It was cold and lonely. She had never in her life experienced anything similar to this, there was no way to describe it. There where no colors, only darkness, but at the same time not. To be more accurate, there was nothing at all, nothing to look at, at least. There where things there, not something that could be seen, but could only be felt.

She was not in the realm of the living anymore, but rather in a realm in between. In this little space between the living and the dead, where all the emotions from both sides simply... swept through, and had done so since ancient times.

Of course, Rin wouldn't know this, and assumed that she was dead. The darkness scared her, but she had to accept the truth. That was, until she suddenly was transported somewhere entirely else. Her surroundings had changed from nothing to something mystical and... otherworldly. In front of her stood a girl who seemed to be only a few years older than Rin.

The girls mouth was moving but Rin couldn't hear a word she was saying, it wasn't that she didn't understood. It was rather the shock of having been moved from one place to another so suddenly. At the end of the girls sentence, Rin caught two words, going and die. So, Rin wasn’t dead? Not yet at least. This revelation granted Rin hope, because the truth was- Rin didn't want to die. As she lifted her gaze and saw the orb, all feelings of hope rising within her just moments ago, ebbed away. She saw doctors working, trying their best to keep her alive. Was she really going to die after all?

Large tears started spilling onto her cheeks as she tried to suppress sobs from escaping her lips. Rin didn't want to go back to the darkness. There had to be a way for her to survive, right? Rin looked back at the girl, who still seemed to be speaking, not seeming to notice the turmoil inside of Rin.

“...one wish and I will assist you until your wish is complete, so make your choice and either die or have your greatest desire.”

The girl stopped talking and gazed down at Rin expectantly. One wish, why? Why me? Rin wondered. She considered the offer for a while. What should she wish for? There where so many things she still wanted to do. She wanted to figure out why her family had been targeted, she wanted to experiences love and loss, she wanted to help people she cared for, and much, much more. Rin couldn't just decide on one of her many desires. She thought long and hard and at last she had an answer.

“I wish to live for as long as I feel that I have something to live for,” Rin said, her voice thick with emotion.

Akane felt a small shiver go through her when the kimono wearing girl traced her cheek with her finger. She stared up at the girl with the silver hair and grey blue eyes. She had mentioned that she could grant her wish if she sacrificed her soul. Akane sighed a bit and reflected the possibilities in her head.

'This could be a trick... I could just be deceived by someone who wants to screw around with me. But if this is true... then, it would be worth the risk. Besides... I hate this miserable planet enough to disappear so why shouldn't I get the three years wasted back?'

Akane looked up at the girl.

"I don't know if what you are saying is the truth or not... but I'm willing to gamble with that chance. I accept your offer."

Akane stared at her, awaiting her answer.

For a split second, the ghost of a smile tugged the corners of the demoness lips. Good girl... this will perhaps be easier than I initially thought, she gently traced her finger down the girls cheek, to her neck. Then she dug her sharp nails into it, adding enough pressure to pierce the girls tender skin. She didn't remove her fingers, nor loosen her grip until she was sure exactly five, small droplets of blood had formed.

Shiranui let go of the girl and took a step back, watching the droplets starting to move on their own as they drew the shape of her demonic seal. Once the seal was in place, it would scorch itself into her skin, leaving a mark which could never be removed... at least not until the day of Akane's death, when her soul would be Shiranui's to consume. Surly she had seen better tasting souls in the past, but she did recognize the potential of this becoming slight the glorious meal as well- if it were given the time to grow. Until the day the soul was hers to consume, however, Shiranui would give that part of their contract little thought. She did not wish to have anything distract her from her duties as Akane's servant, after all.

Out of respect, she kneed before her soon to become mistress. "The contract has been formed and the seal has been placed. From this day onwards, I will be your servant. Give me a name..."

Shiranui was interested to see if the girl would make any more demands regarding the contract. The more demands humans initially made, especially the well thought through ones... the less freedom did the demons posses to do as they pleased. An intelligent human would make sure a demon was completely bound to their will, as the demons otherwise could become quite troublesome to handle- which did happen in a lot of cases. The master and servant relationship between demon and human could differ a lot, and in a few cases even be turned around. Shiranui, of course, was not a demon to betray her masters in the first place anyway, but she knew there were a lot of demons more than willing to do so.

Belial found himself extremely amused by the brat's sudden flare in temper, barely managing to prevent himself from laughing audibly. Wasn't redheads having a fiery temper some sort of human stereotype? Belial hadn't expected it to apply in this case but it was already obvious that the boy wasn't exactly pleasant so perhaps the anger was to be expected, despite the extremely generous offer he was making the boy. Well, generous in Belial's opinion. After all, even if he was intending to consume the boy's soul he was at least planning to do it after giving him a far richer set of experiences than he would have if he were to simply die as he intended.

"Allow me to reassure you that, despite your rudeness, I am neither attempting to trick you nor am I a hallucination...and if you find my words cliched then you have no one to blame but yourself. Humans are such simple creatures, after all...it is to be expected that their imaginations would produce situations so close to the truth when they make these 'bad movies' of yours."

Belial paused as the brat demanded he revealed himself, but had no qualms about doing so. Indeed, he had been intending to show himself before the contract was made, but had been far too entertained by the boy's expressions and actions. Even now the little human seemed to be weighing up his options, possibly trying to decide whether to wish for this or that should Belial's words turn out to be true. It did seem fairly obvious that the boy didn't realise he was dealing with a demon at any rate and Belial saw no reason to correct him. He had been called many things by many people and had little interest in his nature, content to simply live his life as he had always done, feasting on souls in exchange for granting humans their desires.

After a short pause -during which Belial was mentally insulting the red-haired boy in as many ways as he could think of for his insolence- Belial stepped out of the shadows in front of the boy; he was dressed in human attire, as he tended to for these encounters, although perhaps the choice of a black suit would only enhance the boy's opinion that he was some kind of con-artist. His long pink hair was half pinned up behind his head to keep it neat, although most of it still fell in loose waves over his shoulders, and his pale gold eyes gazed appraisingly at the boy, watching his reaction carefully. Like most demons Belial had a fairly attractive appearance by normal standards and liked to believe he didn't look particularly menacing although who knew what this unpleasant boy might take as threatening?

"Satisfied now that you have a face to pair with the voice? Now tell me child, what do you desire? You have merely to speak your wish and I shall be sworn into your service, to stay by your side until your last breath..." Belial murmured as he knelt before Dominic, carefully taking one of the boy's hands in his before gently pressing his lips to it.

"Why shouldn't I wish to die?" The Question did not surprise her, Suki had been asked that many times before, but rather than answer, she sipped her tea with a delicate smile. "My mother's dead, and it's all I can do to get away from my father." Interesting, maybe this girl's wish would simply be to leave this forsaken island? "Are you some sort of Shinigami?" At this Suki giggled and put her tea cup down, her bright pink eyes twinkling with amusement. "Something like that, maybe." Suki pulled down on her white gloves to make sure they were on all the way before propping her elbows on the table and leaning her head on her hands.

"The contract will bind me to serve and protect you in order to achieve your greatest desire. This can be anything from a vendetta, to wanting to be rich and powerful. Once your wish has been achieved I will be payed, it isn't much and you won't need it once you're dead anyways; just your soul.

Suki plopped two sugar cubes into her tea cup and stirred it with a spoon, her pretty smile never fading, the glowing orbs around their tea party dancing as they circled the table, tingling like little bells. The whole facade was supposed to be a happy little tea party and it was a very relaxing environment to form contracts in, or at least the demon thought so. "So, tell me human. What is your greatest desire? Suki snapped her fingers and a paper as well as a feather pen appeared. Of course they didn't really need to sign anything, it was just symbolic and she liked the dramatic affect of having something to sign away your soul.

Dominic watched Belial uncertainly for quite a while as he considered this, trying to figure out what exactly the demon meant by this. Surly he didn't try to say he was anything other than human? Perhaps he wasn't quite right in the head, either. Well, at least the con-artist or whatever he was did seem pretty wacko from the start, so that could definitely be an explanation. Unless... the voice actually didn't belong to a human. Oh my god, what if I've been kidnapped by aliens or something?! Dominic thought to himself, momentarily overcome by horror. No, this guy definitely isn't an alien... at least, I wouldn't think so. I wouldn't imagine being kidnapped by aliens feels like this... then again, I have never experienced so I don't really know, do I? For some reason, the thought of being kidnapped by aliens was terrifying to Domenic, though he wasn't quite sure why. With a sigh, he told himself that the aliens theory was more or less impossible.

"You can't expect me to mind my manners when I'm seriously being freaked out by tha-" he fell silent mid sentence as the barer of the voice revealed himself. To Dominic's surprise, he was actually quite good looking. Well, the comment in his head was more like this: Damn it, he's hot! Though it doesn't really make him less annoying... Either way, it felt better speaking directly to the face of the mysterious voice, rather than literally being kept in the dark.

"Satisfied now that you have a face to pair with the voice? Now tell me child, what do you desire? You have merely to speak your wish and I shall be sworn into your service, to stay by your side until your last breath..."

"W-what the hell are you doing?!" Dominic snapped out as the handsome man dressed in a black suit stepped closer to him, before kneeling down and taking the redheads hand. The teenager could feel a shiver go down his spine as the demon pressed his lips against Dominic's hand. A bright red blush spread from nose to ear and his breath caught in his throat. It wasn't that he really particularly disliked it or anything... even if it did give him the creeps. He just hadn't anticipated it.

"I-I..." Dominic tried to pull his hand from the demons grip as he scowled at him, "d-don't do that!"

He moved away several inches from the slightly creepy but handsome demon, glaring at him silently for a moment. Then his expression softened. "I wish for the chance to experience true love and happiness," he said determinately, mentally kicking himself for how ridicules it actually sounded, "at least once before I die..." he finished, still blushing furiously, though now in embarrassment of his request.

Kanami closed her eyes, and pressed her fingers to her forehead. "So what happens to me after I die?" She asked. "And what's preventing me from bleeding to death once I accept this contract?" She wished to know all the could before she signed up. She sighed a little. A sort-of-shinigami was trying to get her soul in return for... Happiness. Of some sort. The question is, what did Kanami wish for?

She sipped at her tea again, and looked around her at the small orbs, now tinkling like tiny glowing wind chimes. They were mesmerizing, and very pretty. Relaxing, almost. She bit her lip and looked up. Her eyes lingered on the feather pen that had appeared on the table. "I-I..." She started. What was there to wish for? She had nothing TO wish for. But then again... Could she wish for something and create a loophole from it? Kanami suddenly thought of things she desired - an unconditional lover, children of her own, getting away from her father... Having her mother back... But...Could this... almost-shinigami help her?

"I'm not sure I have a wish you could grant me."

Kanami finally spoke the words that were on her mind. But... Perhaps... Perhaps there was something. What...What about a family? A family... That would be nice. A family that treated her right, who looked up to her. Not a broken family. A real one. With unconditional love, and teamwork, and... happiness. Yes, Kanami would like that very much... And she'd be happy, too, truly happy. She couldn't do that if she died... She sipped thoughtfully at her tea again. It was very nice tea. She could see the blood, though, all over her wrist. It was a strange sight, because the blood hadn't dried, but it wasn't fluid and moving, either. If she touched it, it would be wet, but no blood would come off with her fingers... Was it because time had stopped? That brought up the 'what-if-this-does-nothing' question again. What if it DIDN'T do anything? Kanami's soul would be wasted. She had to decide whether the chance at what could be happiness overweigh the possibility that she would die anyway.

Was it really, truly, worth it?

Yes.

"I'll do it."

Akane finally stood up after the deed was done. She touched her still bleeding neck and felt the pain already fading away, to be replaced with a demonic seal. The seal was located below Akane's left collarbone. She didn't look at it yet, buisness had to come first.

"Very well... I'll give you your name."

Akane pauses for a bit, thinking of a name for the woman. Shiro was one thing that came to mind. Akuno Hana was another. Then, her mind flashed back to a dream she had at 15 when she was still naive enough to believe that God or her family would save her. The dream involved a boy with no name coming over to Akane and saying that he would take away all the pain. She believed him and would spend as much time sleeping as possible just to be with him. When she was 16, he vanished, leaving her alone to her bitterness and loneliness. She shook her head at the childish memory and then realized that she could just use that name.

"From now on you are Setsumi Hideaki."

She didn't need to ask if the girl liked the name or not. She asked Akane to give her that name so she better not complain about it. Akane stared down at Setsumi.

"Setsumi, before my life without illness begins, I'd like to know the terms of this contract. How far can I order you around? Will you do absolutely anything I say? If not, address any limits here and now so I won't forget."

Akane was almost a bit shocked at the coldness coming from her voice, but at the same time she considered herself to be lucky. It wasn't everyday that you suddenly received your own servant and if Akane could do whatever she wanted with Setsumi, then perhaps she could use her for... darker purposes. Her hatred for her family burned just as badly as the fire that placed the seal on her skin. If Akane had this new power, what was stopping her from eliminating her parents for abandoning her?

Belial continued to maintain a placid smile through whatever imaginings Dominic may have been conjuring up to explain his blatant reference to his inhumanity. He did hope, however, that the boy wouldn't dwell on it for too long. Belial had met his share of abnormal humans; there were those who were extremely fearful upon finding out the true nature of their bargain and earnestly searched for a way out, a loophole, or even simply begged him to let them die in order to release their soul. Those types, though irritating, were at the very least bearable. It was certain others - he shuddered just to think of the memories - who seemed to worship his kind. They were rare compared to normal humans simply on the edge of despair, but there was always at least one every few centuries and they made him sick. In comparison to that sort of prey, a foul-mouthed, unfriendly teenage boy was nothing.

As Belial appeared and Dominic cut his words short the demon suppressed a laugh, deciding the boy was either pleased with his appearance or simply hadn't expected the mysterious speaker to actually indulge him and reveal their identity. Still contemplating this as he straightened up after kissing the youth's hand, Belial decided upon the former option due to his reaction. At least, he assumed that was what the blushing and stammering meant. Perhaps the poor brat was simply incredibly socially inept...

The demon allowed Dominic space as he pulled away from him, waiting silently for him to announce his desire and having the grace not to laugh at him when he did so. It was a perfectly normal request after all, if one considers how sentimental humans are, so Belial simply nodded calmly before bowing low before Dominic.

"I shall consider it my duty to grant your wish with all the power of my being, little master. Now..." Belial stood straight once more, tucking his hair behind his ear in a smooth motion. "Am I allowed to inquire as to your name? And there is also the matter of where you wish the seal of our contract to be placed upon your body..." Stepping towards the boy in a swift movement Belial leaned close to him, studying his face closely. "The neck or behind the ear is a common spot..." He continued, lightly brushing his hand over Dominic's cheek as he spoke, "Although it seems your hair lacks the length necessary to conceal it. Another area it may be easy to conceal -depending on how often you expose yourself and your manner of dress- would be perhaps near your hip bone-" As he spoke he placed his other hand on the boy's waist- "-but if you don't mind it being seen by others then something simple such as below one of your collarbones would also suffice..."

The girl was obviously taking this very seriously, weighing her options. It almost pleased Suki that she would have to work hard for this one... Almost. "So what happens to me after I die?" She pressed her mouth into a thin line, not willing to answer, but it seems Suki wouldn't have to as the girl came up with another question. "And what's preventing me from bleeding to death once I accept this contract?" Once again a smile adorned the being's lips and she leaned forward, as if telling a great secret. "Magic," Suki leaned back once more and giggled. She could tell the tea party was starting to affect the girl, her posture relaxed and she leaned back and touched the blood on her wrist. It was dark magic of course, but the girl had probably figured that out already.

"I'm not sure I have a wish you could grant me." Suki's smile never faded and she waved away this notion with one gloved hand. "Everyone has a wish, you just need to think about what it is." Suki could practically hear the cogs in the girl's mind turning, doing a dance to find out what they wanted, what their owner desired.

"I'll do it." Suki jumped up and clapped her hands excitedly. "Oh good! Now all you have to do is tell me your name and your wish," She pushed all of the decorations on the table off in one fell swoop and took the girl's hands in hers. Teacups and cakes clattered to the ground, vanishing into nothingness. Suki was practically shaking with excitement, it was always so nice when she convinced someone to give her their soul in exchange for something. "Oh wait a second!" She dropped the girl's hands and pulled her gloves off, setting them aside on the table and revealing the rose bud that would be their contract mark. "This is our contract, it has to be placed somewhere upon your body. You can choose where you'd like it of course, but I think it looks prettiest on the hand or collerbone. She picked up her new Mistress's hands and waited for the wish to be uttered.

Seriously?
What was she doing to herself.
She glared at the men before her, the red in her eyes blazing. "Hey, back off will you?" She bit out, stepping back. But the men just sneered, glancing at each other before inching in- "Bitch you did this to yourself." Another one pitched in, "Yeah, you could have just let us do our business, but no you had to butt in, how stupid! now you're going to pay."
She glared yet sighed. 'Not going to deny it..' He did have a point. She thought back at what happened (still confused), and remembered the victim.. Or well, looked to be the victim.

It was raining.. Her hair was getting drench, along with her clothes. She looked like a whore off the streets if she said so herself, since she was merely leaning against a brick wall of an ally, allowing herself to be soaked. She closed her eyes. What was she going to do. How was she going to live. "Should I just die." She whispered, only to chuckle wistfully. "How stupid." She silenced herself once more.
Now people may ask what has happened? Why was she in dismay? Well today was the day her brother went missing.. or she assumed "ran away". He left no trace when he disappeared, and well Eris could only wonder why he left her alone. 'Don't mope Eris..' She keeps telling herself, but it was all in vain as she remained still. Maybe the rain felt nice?..

"Aye wheres our money!" Her eyes open slowly. "Are you going to keep running away huh?!" She turned her head towards the noise. "hm.." How cliche. A little farther down the ally, there was a group of men.. in the middle was a smaller one, trapped, and scared as hell. "I-Ill.. uh.. give it to you tomorrow! yeah! I promise!" The little man begged, smiling pathetically. "Ill make it up to you somehow!" However the gang didn't seem to buy the man's excuses since he used them several times, so they began to close in.

Now Eris saw this little man was the cause of this all, started a little deal with some sharks for some stupid reasons (such as drugs), which he knew he couldn't afford to give back. His fault but.. despite that she did something she would usually never do- She ran in. It was almost in a blink when she got there, making a path of her own between the group. "Stop." Her voice was calm- almost threw the men off guard however they began to grow angry. "What the f-!" "Who is this!" They all turned towards the little man, "Well!?" This is where he went to a down low. "Uh this is my payment! have fun with her!" With that he ran off, with that pathetic smile plastered onto his face.
Eris felt disgusted. Trash.

Leaning against the ally wall, she held her cheek. That was quite the punch. She got ready to fight back- or did she? Huh? She blinks, peering down at her body. It was.. calm as if.. she wanted to give in- Let the men beat her up! Is that.. 'Why I jump in.. did I even care about that trash..' She finally came upon a realization, her eyes widened slightly- She doesn't want to live anymore. She wanted to die. She didn't want to fight back. "Hah." A little laugh slipped, and a weak smile pulled at her lips. Well then, how pathetic. Did she want at least.. a "heroic" death of some sort?

"Get her!" A rain of pain started to plummet down upon her: punches, kicks, etc. She didn't resist though despite her capability to fight. She could have made her way out, she wasn't weak.. but maybe she was now?
After what seemed hours, she fell to the floor like a limp doll, and she coughed up blood with the final kick. Her body burned with pain, and if she looked at herself, she could see the blood mixing into the rain on the pavement floor, her usually blazing eyes gray and dead.. "Is she.. ?" One man asked, before pulling her up by her hair- She didn't react. "Shit. Lets get out of here." The pounding of foot steps hit her ears, and in her eye sight she saw blurry images running away. Pathetic.
Letting out labored breaths, she closed her eyes, feeling herself slip away yet she was so calm.. "How pathetic am I

Kage stood motionlessly by window of a very squared office. Whoever's office it was was not currently there. His arms folded across his chest, solemnly glancing around the room. It was ordinary, the general modern feel of metallic colors along with basic supplies and furnishing. As he'd arrived at the building itself he'd picked up the feeling of melancholy. He didn't much like any work place, especially those that standardized everyone into a small cubical. He entered quietly and was most likely ignored by everyone he passed. Whether it was a blessing or a curse he had a talent of blending in. Even as a child he was never very wild, and it was uncommon for his actions to cause a scene. Gentle and subtle movements dominate his appearance, he's somewhat elegant in an odd way.
Being back in the human world for Kage was more of a chore than a blessing. Then again, being anywhere felt forced and tedious to him. Although many of his experiences with humans had been ill-fated, he didn't dislike humans necessarily. He found humans stupid and impulsive. He felt their time alive gave them so little to learn and discover. They only see their own perspective, letting things like emotions drive them from place to place. They dream and settle for less, work only to feel unaccomplished, and generally give up. Naive and thirsty for some sort of salvation, they believe what they are told and hold onto it as if with answers they may have everything. But their are always more questions.
Being a demon had its ups and down. For some time Kage felt almost relieved. Their was no fear of death for him, or idea of it if he wished for it. He couldn't die; he was immortal. Not like he hadn't tried in the beginning though. Since then it'd become his reality, his tasks and everything that came with them were a cycle; a routine. Kage went through the motions numbly, not caring to give more or less. He did what was asked of him, possibly never letting anything sink into place fully in his mind. He was sometimes jealous of the humans he worked with, their ignorance and blissful stupidity was desirous. Some say the only way to be happy is to be stupid. When you know to much you find yourself disappointed and cynical.
So now, as he waited for his new project of some sort, he thought of his own near death experience. A small chill ran up his spine, remembering the morbid night he and his sister attempted to escape their fate. He had, he supposed. But after that night he felt he was entitled to be as honest as possible. The very thought he'd lied to his sister claiming they'd be together sickened him. Now he found himself honest and sincere without compassion.
The second he heard a voice from outside, which he had been waiting for, he peered out of the window which he had opened when he arrived. With meticulous timing and some almost inhuman strength, he caught the arm of a man's falling body. He lifted the body up slightly, making it more comfortable for himself to hold him dangling there. He decided he'd present the contract in a life or death matter for a greater effect. If the boy had made any noises or spoken Kage had ignored it, any shocked expression he also ignored, presenting his offer more simply. "I've been sent to help," he began, "catching you is no accident." He only paused for a moment, "I have an offer for you - anything beyond your wildest dreams, whatever you desire most. It's yours." He let it sink in for a moment, observing the boy struggle from the window. "The alternative of course, I could let you continue what was interrupted." He stared emotionless into his eyes, "It's a small price to pay for what's being given.. All you have to do is agree."
