While she is very passionate about her beliefs and quite direct about how she feels, this has proven to be a deadly flaw, as it makes her prone to impulsiveness and error. Her daring nature causes her to be the littlest bit reckless and bold. It all because of that certain zeal she has. She's most likely never going to say no to a challenge, and kicks everyone's ass at a game of truth or dare.
Astrid has always been very goal-oriented and when she knows what she want, she wont let anyone stop her from achieving her goal. Whether that be through subtle charm, or cutthroat competition. Even though she has qualities of a hot-head, she truly has a mothering way of approaching things. She will always be there to comfort others in their time of need and a very supportive presence to those around her.
Astrid does not take shit from anyone. She'll confront someone aggressively if she needs to. This tough nature of hers unfortunately extends to protecting herself emotionally as well. She's not the most open person to letting people in. She'll befriend you yes, and care about you, it just takes someone tougher than her to break down her inner walls.
She's stubborn and unrelenting. Her determination is unwavering, as well as her strength and devotion. She doesn't give up on people. She may push you to the edge of your capabilities, but only because she cares that much and wants people to become the very best they can. Astrid is also not one to dance around the truth, being the forthright person she is. If she thinks there is something she needs to tell you, or let you know, she will even if it comes off a little blunt.
ELECTROKINESIS | Her strongest and most notable ability is her manipulation of electricity. Astrid is able to use charged particles, such as electrons, to generate massive streams of blue electricity at her control. She can employ this electrostatic energy as lightning arcs from her fingertips, and her maximum charge is more than enough to kill a normal human. Astrid can also "call" on lightning at her will, she just simply needs to think of her target. She is able to create a tangible force field of electricity, surrounding herself and others, that will not allow entrance or exit. However, she is physically not able to generate this amount of electricity for too long, and creating one is extremely taxing on her. Astrid is immune to any source of electricity, for example if she was tased she would simply absorb the energy. She could do this with an entire building, and blackout everything.
ENHANCED STRENGTH | While most demigods are stronger than the average human, Astrid's parentage gives her an even more enhanced strength. At her peak condition she could move a truck, however this is her most taxing ability so she often holds back.
FLIGHT | Ironically, Astrid rarely ever uses this ability as she oddly has a fear of heights. The most she has ever done is levitate a few inches off the ground and that is as far as she'll go.
ÅSKA | Åska, Astrid's beloved sword given to her by her father rarely ever leaves her side. The thing is nearly half her size but she carries it with ease and pride. Much like her father's hammer, Mjolnir, Thor enchanted Astrid's sword as well. Like Mjolnir, it can only be picked up if the person(s) is deemed worthy, harness her lightning, and can be thrown and called back by will.
WEAKNESSES | Astrid moves at her own pace to keep excited, making her terribly impatient. Slowing down because someone else "doesn't get it" or having to stay focused on a single detail for too long is extremely challenging. She is very much of a “seize the moment” kind, often ignoring rules and social expectations in the process. This may get things done, but it can create unexpected social fallout. Astrid refuses to be boxed in. Call it defiant but, repetition, hard line rules, sitting quietly while she is lectured at, isn't how she wants to live her life. She is action-oriented and hands-on.
FEARS | Astrid is deathly afraid of heights and enclosed spaces. Astrid can handle losing, you can't win always. But she could not handle being seen as a failure in the eyes of those she loved. She also fear losing her loved ones, as she has come close many times and it's something the would never like to experience again.
When Astrid was four her mother fell in love with Oscar Greer, a fisherman who had come from Norway. Oscar welcomed Astrid as his own daughter, and to this day she’s always felt more of a connection with Oscar than Thor. He was the one who taught her how to ride a bike, to swim, and held her hand when she was scared. If anyone where to ask who her father was, it was Oscar.
When she was eleven, her mother fell ill. Astrid's life soon became familiar with the fluorescent lights and white walls of the hospital. In that time Astrid only had Oscar, who never left her side at the hospital until the growing bills regarded that he had to go back to work. Astrid refused to leave her mother's side and the staff was kind enough to bring in a second bed for her to sleep in.
She was awoken one night by a strange feeling, only to see a man standing next to her mother's hospital bed. Astrid's mind screamed at her to get the nurses, but something about him felt oddly familiar. It wasn't until he noticed her that she knew who he was. Thor. He was a large, burly man, but yet his eyes were gentle. Thor regarded her kindly, and for a brief moment she thought she saw a tear fall down his cheek. Astrid just let him speak, and he did. He spoke of her mother, how beautiful she'd been and how she still was, about Asgard, the gods, and then her. His strong, little lightning bolt. Thor regretted staying away, but he saw how happy Oscar had made her and he didn't want to take that away from her. Astrid was a million different things, angry, shocked, hopeful - she didn't know how to take in any of the information. It seemed as if Thor had understood, and without much say from her, just vanished.
His visit stuck with Astrid for the next few months, but thankfully her mother's recovery soon became the sole thought in her mind. Maja would never be the same woman she ever was, but she was alive and that was truly what mattered. As their family slowly fell back into their normal cycle, and Astrid went back to school the encounter with her father slowly faded from her mind. That was until her thirteenth birthday.
A small gift arrived for her, addressed to 'the little lightning bolt'. She couldn't help but smile. Inside was a note from Thor, saying that he'd always be there and she'd just have to say the word as well as a sword. Her mother was appalled, Thor definitely hadn't been a father before to gift a thirteen-year-old a sword but Astrid loved it and named it, Åska, thunder. Along with the note and sword was a letter, from 'Icarus Academy' a place for demigods like Astrid. She begged her mother to let her go, as it clearly stated in the note that there were breaks in which they could come home. They simply told Oscar it was a special school for the gifted, and Astrid will never forget how proud he was of her.
With that she packed her things, along with Åska and has been at the Academy ever since.
