Just like you'd expect from a son of Hermes, Sebastian has always been driven by an intense wanderlust and, less admirably, habits of kleptomania. He is a wanderer, explorer and adventurer through and through, leading to a very curious, but almost nosy personality. He's well known for his reckless and rebellious behavior that usually lands him into hot water, but he's also got a silver tongue, using his charm and honeyed words to worm his way out of nearly any situation. He's got a bit of an ego on him though, as all of his Houdini-esque escapes have lead him to believe he's untouchable. He is arrogant and overconfident in his abilities, but he is not entirely as selfish as he may appear to be. On the contrary, he genuinely cares about the "little guy" and will almost always stop whatever he is doing to help someone who would be seen as "lesser" than him.
He has a certain distaste for those who take advantage of others, especially if they are of a higher status or class. He firmly believes that people should be treated equally and refuses to stand for mistreatment against someone who's done nothing wrong. However, he can be a bit of a trickster and enjoys pulling pranks on anyone he can, but especially those he deems "deserves it." Due to his background, he's also quite bitterâeven enviousâtowards those who have a good relationship with their parents.
He's also very distant from most people, as he's used to being alone and would much rather spend time outdoors with his trusty camera, music blasting from his ears, than talk to other demigods. That doesn't mean he's entirely incapable of socializing, however, and he's actually fairly decent at making acquaintances, he just isn't used to having friends. If you do manage to befriend him though, you'll find he's incredibly loyal and there's nothing he wouldn't do for his friends. One of the cons (or pros, depending on who you are) is that he will often try to drag his friends into his troublesome antics, but on the bright side, at least you'll never be bored.
PARENTAGE | Hermes, Greek God of Travelers and Thieves.
AEROKINESIS | One of Sebastian's more powerful abilities, he can manipulate and control the air around him, changing the flow the air current or even creating gusts of wind. He must maintain a conscious connection with the air to use this ability, freeing his mind to be "light as air." Due to this ability, he can surround himself with air, almost like a tornado, to protect himself and anyone in close proximity to him. However, he cannot maintain this "air shield" for long, as it physically and mentally exhausts him, so it usually goes unused.
CLAUDITISKINESIS | A personal favorite of Sebastian's, this ability allows him to manipulate physical and most digital locks of nearly any kind, giving him control of locking and unlocking them just by mere touch. This has its limits though, as he cannot create locks of his own or open locks that require a physical part of the body[ (i.e. a handprint, fingerprint, eye scan, etc.)
ENHANCED SPEED | Due to his lineage, Sebastian can move faster than the average human, along with most demigods. However, he often has trouble managing his turns in combination with his speed, usually leading to him stumbling or even falling as he tries to come to a halt. As another side effect, his metabolism is quite high and he must consume food more regularly than most to keep his energy up, and if he pushes himself too much he could collapse from energy depletion.
TALARIA | Talaria are the winged shoes gifted to Sebastian by his father, Hermes, which he uses often for his many escapades and adventures. They can return to him if lost by a whistle and have gotten him out of a jam more than a few times. However, the wearer can only use them if they use the word chosen by the owner, which Sebastian has chosen as "Olympian."
STRENGTHS | Sebastian is not only book smart, but incredibly street smart and great at improvising through any situation. He's also got a knack for smooth talking his way through most issues, which can get him out of a jam if need be. For whatever reason, he seems to be incredibly lucky, as most situations that would probably get him hurt or even killed he somehow manages to avoid.
WEAKNESSES | Sebastian can be incredibly stubborn and impulsive, refusing to change his opinions even if there's a compelling argument against them. He's also a very fast paced kind of person, rushing through things rather than thinking about them rationally and would prefer to "wing it" rather than go through all the slow, boring steps of some complicated plan. Also due to his rebellious nature, he's almost always on the other end of someone's frustration or even anger, especially if it's someone with a complete opposite personality to his own. This isn't intentional, it's just the way he's always been and it'll be extremely difficult to break out of the habit.
FEARS | Try as he might to keep it hidden, Sebastian has an almost crippling fear of abandonment and is terrified that one day he'll wind up dead with no one to care or mourn him. The very idea of being a nobody repels him and he does whatever he can to make sure people notice him, even if the attention ends up being negative.
Sebastian was born under unique circumstances, being the result of a one night stand during a particularly quiet night in the windy city. She was a beautiful young woman with an insatiable wanderlust, leaving it hardly a surprise that Hermes would be attracted to someone with such similarities to himself. However, Aurora was not one to settle down and she was hesitant to have a child that could hinder her life, but could not bring herself to give up the child that had been created by a magical night. This didn't stop her intense urge for travel though, leading to an irregular childhood for Sebastian.
He spent most of his life on the road, living in motels and his mother's old station wagon, never gaining any permanent connections with kids his age and eventually was pulled out of school altogether and homeschooled instead. This caused him to be a lonely kid and he began to act out in spite, that started from stealing small things from shops to eventually graffitiing the back alley walls. It was around this time that he discovered his abilities, which lead to his most dangerous attempt at attention; trespassing in someone's house. He soon was caught but due to him being underage, he was only briefly detained before being issued a warning and released back into his mother's custody. This was the final straw, his mother had enough of his antics and sent him to live with her parents, who were very strict and expected him to follow their every rule.
Of course, being a defiant twelve year old child, he refused and his rebellious nature seemed to get even worse. He continuously snuck out of the house late in the night to explore the city and even found himself amongst a group of like-minded outcasts who chastised his family situation and offered a place among them whenever he needed a place to stay.
He finally had some semblance of friends, and perhaps even a family, and he began to disappear from his grandparent's house more and more often. But he only got to spend a year with them before his mother showed up one day to her parents' home, with a man accompanying her. At first, Sebastian thought nothing of it, he had seen many men around his mother and spent many nights in a separate hotel room because of it. But this was different, as he would soon learn, as he was then informed that the man was his father and he was sat down in the living room where the information was spilled before him. He was more angry than surprised, as his parents were the very reason he experienced his childhood the way he did. His father attempted some sort of apology, but it fell upon deaf ears until he finally heard about the academy his parents were going to send him to.
He expressed his frustration of being sent to yet another place, believing it was some elaborate plan to get rid of him forever. He then bitterly decided he had no other choice, but after some time, his father managed to reassure him that it was an attempt to give him a place where he could be among those like him. It barely worked, but it was enough to convince him to go. As a gift, as well as an apology for his absence, Hermes gave him a pair of winged shoes and an olive branch with a note on it, (a small joke in reference to Athena as well as his attempt of reconnection) with instructions on how the shoes worked. Sebastian was reluctant, but decided he would listen to his father and give the academy a chance. So far, he's been entertained enough to stay, and thus he remains there among the rest of the demigods.
