Determined, smart, and deep. Doctor.
Shane is a smart, meaningful person. Very self-possessed and confident. He feels personally responsible for anything that happens to anyone that he cares about/for, which means he feels very guilty that he survived the nuclear holocaust while his family and friends did not. He always tries to get to the truth of things, and is very religous. He speaks very articulately and slowly, choosing his words carefully. (More will be revealed in play.)
Shane carries with him two canteens of water that he was able to boil, a backpack, a pocket-knife, a trench knife, a 12-gage single-shot shotgun, and a brief-case thing in which he carries his medical supplies. He has some anti-biotics, some shots for the most recent flu, polio, Hepatitis A, and chicken pox, 50' of bandages, disinfectant, a sewing kit (for surgery), and various medicines.
Shane came from a good family and went to medical school once he graduated high-school. He was in some debt and worked as a doctor to repay it. Then, he became a Christian and began traveling to 3rd world countries as a missionary and doctor. This did not pay as well, and he is still in a little debt. In his travels, he discovered his love for language, and he began studying Biblical Greek and a little Classical Latin as well as the languages of the countries he would visit. He would return home after each mission a changed man, a better linguist, and a skilled doctor. Once he came back to America to restock and visit his family when the nuclear holocaust struck. He doesn't know why he survived, but he believes it is still his job to help people with his doctoring skills and what supplies he might have left. (More will be revealed in play.)
