Introduction
From Latin imago (likeness, semblance, conception)
1. The final developmental stage of an insect after undergoing metamorphosis.
2. The idealised concept of a loved one, formed in childhood and retained unaltered in adult life.
In the time of high-speed internet and fast food, it is not always easy being a god. Humans have given up on them, now believing in television and their local news.
They had once been created by mankind and shaped by their imagination, ruling the earth and pulling the strings in the background, living the glorious life.
Today they are lucky if they can afford a hotdog.
Mammon seems to be the only one who still has believers - they build shrines for him, praying for their money.
The others are not that fortunate. It's hardly odd that by now there are gods that hate the humans, gods that still care for them - and gods that couldn't care less and just want to be left alone.
But despite their differences, some decided to meet at Tom's Diner in order to face the crisis at hand: They are dying.
With hardly any belief left, they have to find a solution in order to survive.
Can they get along until they have the remedy - Or will they try to rip out each others throats first?
Information:
Your character sheet should contain:
Name (doesn't have to be the mythological one)
Role (What god/godess and of which religion, would be lovely if you'd put it in the synopsis as well)
Age (At least the appearance)
Appearance (A picture (realistic) and/or a description works)
Personality (Include his/her relationship towards humans and small habits/traits)
History (A small background check helps, if you decide with other writers that your characters were friends, foes, lovers, cardtraders, it would be nice to add it here. Also, what they are doing now, if they have a job, try to blend in, hide, anything that you think might be of interest, really.)
Concerning Characters:
- You may create a character with the same area of expertice as the one of another (for example Aphrodite and Venus) but make sure it's alright with the other writer. I could imagine their (hopefully) different views on the same subject highly amusing.
- You have the right to say that 'Charactername' was the god/godess of 'Idontknowwhat' in 'Idontknowwhere' at first and as that religion started to cease existing converted to a god/godess in 'Idontknoweither'
- Of course you have artistic freedom but at least do a quick background check on the deity you chose. If - for example - an Ares and an Aphrodite should be created, do contact each other, since they have a romantic background in greek mythology. Decide if you want them to be ex-lovers or ongoing lovers or whatnot, and don't forget to mention it in their history.
- Don't create a god of wine that doesn't like alcohol - unless you have a very good reason.
- I don't want this to end in a religious debate, so please only pick gods from mythology or new ones (e.g. a god of cigarette lighters, whose creator and only follower is a weed addict). Don't forget there weren't just the greeks, romans and egyptians. Norse and Slavic mytholgy, for example, is very fascinating as well.
- Cursing, romance and violence are permitted but make sure to keep it interesting and inside of the guidelines.
- Your god cannot be almighty or even extremly powerful unless he is fairly well-presented through his concept (Hermes should be having the time of his life, if you chose to, with internet and postal services ;) ).
- I know there are animalistic gods in mythology but do me the favor to make them humanoid. I certainly don't mind them shapeshifting into an animal form but I do doubt you can run around with an alligator head instead of a face without someone screaming their head off. This also goes for nekos.
Whether this will end in some form of contract, a war or a mass suicide is completly open. I'd love to hear your ideas!
