"As the sun sets, As the moon wanes, the lingering fire of resolve continues to burn within the cage of time. I believe that is what makes every moment, makes everyone, a beacon of different worlds. So, what will I see with you?"

"Remember... Remember... the 34th of November"

"Desha linn..." (So quiet...) A murmur, a whisper in the night, yet it echoed like a lullaby. The winds were calm and soothing to the senses. The coolness of the evening brought certain chills which are comfortable. The stars above flickered so delicately, as if luring unsuspecting wanderers into a sea of dark luminous. It matched the illumination below present in many structures as if they were all floating. Yes, night had descended on the city of Ezevoir. This scene had an air of mystery and beauty for a specific individual. That someone who looked with those mesmerized aquamarine eyes also has a gentle smile. The world was truly a mystical place, this is what this person believes but, nothing truly defeats the beauty of one's own homeland.

"Seldi Eona, ta naa commae nae shan e." (Princess Eona, it is time to go inside.) It was the familiar voice of her handmaiden and best friend, Freida. It was too soon for her liking as a notable pout could be seen on her lips. Eona looked at the person who called her and released a sigh. She had just recently returned from a business affair in the realm of Levia' Nhaal. She was sent as an envoy to discuss possible new trade routes. The discussion was successful, but the journey was quite long. She didn't mind. She learned a lot along the way, but she does want to enjoy the peaceful night of the city at her own pace, at her balcony. For tomorrow, it will be another hectic day for her.

"Yewl amin ner commae, Freida..." (Give me more time, Freida...) Her eyes were glistening with utmost fervor. Freida knew it was useless to resist the wish, so she gave a humble bow and left the princess to her own devices for a bit more. It was then something different was afoot. Eona returned looking at the scenery before her when there was a change in the breeze. Her long ash blond hair which was recently being played by the wind gently was now being blown with such intensity. She held the great portion of her hair in place with her hand while the other held on to the stone banister. Her eyes drifted towards the skies above. The silent sky which was a basin of stars earlier was now void of it. The clouds were also being blown away with such ferocity, swept away to a red horizon.

The trees and the plants were being rattled so strongly. The animals in the distance were singing in fear. As for her, she was not sure what to feel at the moment. Her prevalent emotion will be confusion if she was correct in her assumption. What was happening? Was there a storm? She was not certain about that. There was nothing natural about this. Well, there was the case of this being conjured, then again, this was too spread out. It seemed to occur far into the reaches of the realm. Furthermore, there was something odd about the air, because there was nothing normal about the erratic movement of mana. It was electrifying and hot. It reminded her of her brother Ortherus' magic, but that is where the similarity ends. There was something sinister behind it. If this was being manipulated, she could not think of anyone who could do so, unless...

Her thoughts stopped as the flashes of light decided to play a cadence. It took her attention and as time ticked away, the lights which was limited to the apocalyptic skies soon touched the grounds like jagged daggers with such great force. This phenomenon was spreading undeniably across the realm. She could see it clearly from her position, but she did not know the intensity of such sinister lightning, until she experienced it firsthand. It struck her balcony which was 10 stories high without warning. In an instant, it crumbled to pieces as it all fell to the ground like rain. She was also falling down and it was like time was slowing down at a great pace. Was she going to die like this? She did not want to, but all she could do was close her eyes and await the inevitable outcome. Is this really the end?

Then, she felt something or rather someone grabbing hold of her wrist with such urgency. Eona opened her eyes as she saw Freida trying to pull her up with determination. Her friend was positioned precariously on the broken ledge. "Amin gioy llie, seldi." (I got you, princess.) Eona could not help but smile brightly at that statement. "Freida!" The silence was now broken as the sounds of explosions and screams echoed around them. What was happening? There were fires within the city walls. It was chaos. Was this an attack? As she was looking up, it was then she noticed the sky was breaking. Wait... Breaking? Could that even be possible? It was like a mirror having cracks upon its smooth surface. She could hear it break as the crevice seemed to get longer and soon overlapped with another, forming a cross. Then, it opened like a gaping hole.

Eona was not sure where the intersection met as it was far from her line of sight. But if she would take a guess, it was in another realm. In any case, her thoughts did not linger on that for long. Oozing or rather pouring out from the gap was a black mist. Maybe, it was a black cloud. Well whatever it was, it descended to the grounds like a ravaging fog. She was not certain if it was poisonous, but something inside of her was telling her to run away, to fear it. Soon, that notion became the truth as the seemingly cloud of black smoke materialized into hundreds, no thousands of tiny creatures, beings she had never seen before. They were something out of those books depicting creatures of damnation. They flooded the city and even the palace was not exempted. She did not know what they were after, but it soon came clear to her. They were attacking everyone they see. It was chaos.

"Seldi... Eona..." Hearing Freida's voice, Eona gazed at her friend who seemed to be getting a bit pale. She was about to reach the ledge, so all was needed was one final spurt, but she felt the grip on her hand loosening. Her eyes looked at her friend with a question, and she took notice that Freida seemed to be in pain. "Freida?" The girl simply looked at her with eyes that were losing its light and then, she felt a viscous liquid dripping on her face. She determined its source and it was coming from Freida. "Freida, naa llie ilya forya?" (Freida, are you all right?) The girl being asked gave a sad smile and seemed to be saying something, but it was no longer audible. The hand preventing her from her fall released her along with Freida who fell off the ledge. It was then Eona realized that Freida was stabbed by the creatures who came out of the black mist. The revelation rendered her in complete shock and all she could do was shout at the top of her lungs. "Neh!"

Then, the next day came, like clockwork...

"Ta naa n' llie feile, amin hin..." (It is not your fault, my child...) Eona looked at her mother. The queen of their people who aided many with her skills in healing. It was good to know that her mother was spared from the brutality of those unknown attackers, but it could not be said to the others. Her father, the king, was busy with assessing the damage within the realm and restoring order to the city. The mysterious attackers vanished into thin air without a clue to their purpose. They only left the proof of their coming, torn bodies and bloody pools. Many had suffered from these monsters. Yes, they were monsters. It was fortunate her family was spared. Her brother, Ortherus had managed to defeat some of these creatures before their disappearance. But, Eona still lost someone very dear to her.

Her eyes were all red and all puffy. She had cried endlessly through the night and still even now. Many had been killed and injured from the attack of these beings, she does not understand why this happened. Most of all, someone she cared for, her friend was killed. Freida was killed. As for her, Zweiruth, her brother, saved her from the fall by breaking her fall with his magic. Her tears continue, she just couldn't bear the death of so many and the death of someone beloved. It was then she had decided. She would not allow herself to wallow here. She will find out the truth, then seek justice. "Atara, Amin ant nae uum soeali." (Mother, I need to do something.) Her eyes were now alight with fiery strength and her mother knew that Eona was determined to avenge the lives that were lost today and feels that she is responsible to find out the truth. If that is so, she cannot stop her daughter. All she could was ensure that she will be ready for this travel.

With that, Eona was rearing to go to the outside world once more. This time, she had no idea that this would be a journey, she will never forget.

"As the sun sets, As the moon wanes, the lingering fire of resolve continues to burn within the cage of time. I believe that is what makes every moment, makes everyone, a beacon of different worlds. So, what will I see with you?"

"Mani truw llie uum?" (What can you do?)

These were the words that echoed inside her head over and over again. Eona knew well that she was no warrior like Ortherus nor is she a healer like Zweiruth. That is why she wanted to be more civic minded in her responsibilities as a member of Royalty. She wanted to learn a role that only she could do. Before, she had thought that somehow, she had found her place, then this happened. All of her hopes and expectations were swept away by the tide like a sandcastle. Not only that, she lost a very dear friend and found out, how helpless and pathetic she was. That is why she wanted to do something about the dark event which took many lives. She owes the people, she owes Freida that much.

Still, there was no denying what her Father told her. What can she hope to do in her current state? She was a protected princess and she would not deny that. Moreover, this event was not isolated within the realm of Auxerallia. The same thing happened all over the nine realms. So if she intends to find out the truth, she will need to leave the safety of her privileged birth. Outside the walls of the palace and far from the protection of her soldiers, she will simply be just Eona. Personally, she doesn't mind and finds that liberating. But, this idea was not welcomed by her Father and Brothers even her Mother was a bit hesitant to allow her to journey without the assurance of her safety or if there was even meaning in her going at all.

So in the end, she was confined within the palace walls. Weeks had already passed and November was now December. Even so, the tragedy that struck Ezevoir was still fresh on everyone's mind. The pain might have been dulled, but the thorn was still there. Eona was once more at the library. She had just finished her visit to Freida's grave. This was the only activity she was allowed to attend to outside the palace. Her brothers were all out and busy with the restoration. Her father was also busy with the influx of problems which concerns about the unexplained phenomenon. Her mother was assisting her father with the duties. Her? She was being overly-protected once more. It was annoying and depressing. So, she decided to know about those creatures. The best place was the library.

There were seemingly endless shelves of books which had been preserved from such a long time ago. It had been her routine every day to search the books for any kind of clue as to what happened on that 34th of November. She was not sure how many books she had read, but she was not willing to give up. With that mantra, she continued her research unaware of the passage of time. The day soon became night and she had fallen asleep on the desk with piles of books surrounding her. There was still no information which could help her. Everything was still covered in darkness. Nothing made sense. Nothing at all.

Not until, something fell from the bookshelves behind her. It was then her eyes fluttered open. She rubbed her eyes and then looked around. Eona noticed that it was already dark outside and looked at the source of the sound which woke her up. It was a small book. Leaving her chair, she went towards the book and picked it up. It was a story that her mother used to tell her when she was young. She flipped through the pages and saw one particular illustration. It was the same creature which attacked them on that night. Holding the book tightly, she began to read the pages as if her mother was telling it to her. This was about the story of darkness, the ones which harbor deep within people's souls.

These darkness molded and serve as the minions of the Dark God Borothein. She stopped her thoughts and reading at that point. Could it be possible? She recalled the details which revolved around the gods and goddesses which had been provided by the All Father. Then, there was a prophecy. Her Father told her this once. She passed it off as a simple story meant to entertain children. Then again, the sky was not supposed to break or crack like glass. Still, all she has now are old legends, stories, and beliefs. There was still no definite conclusion, but this was a start. Her eyes burned with revelation and strength. There was someone who she could confirm this with, but she must do something which her family would not be happy about.

The next day, Eona as routine visited Freida's grave. The guards which accompanied her were in the distance watching over her while giving her enough privacy to mourn. "Kyorl phor ussa..." (Watch over me...) She stated with such softness and sadness. After doing so, she took a deep breath and looked at her guards. They took this that the princess was ready to return, but it was nothing like that. Winds gathered around her and this took the guards by surprise. "Evagna ussa..." (Forgive me...) Just like that, she was hidden behind the gush of wind and disappeared from the gravesite. Eona had run away and the news soon reached the ears of her family who was displeased by this action.

"Ragar lueth sila ilta rath!" (Find and bring her back!)

She made sure that her hood hid her face perfectly as she looked at the Ezevoir city gates. She had managed to hitchhike on a caravan. Her departure caused a stir which is to be expected, she could see the gates being closed. Luckily, she managed to get out before that happened. This would be the first time, she would travel to the outside world without anyone around her. All she brought was a satchel which contained some provisions, money, and what she thought would be necessary in her journey. Eona was not sure how long it will take for her to arrive at the destination, she had in mind, but she was not going to give up. She has to reach Heaven's Crown, there she has to find that person.

"As the sun sets, As the moon wanes, the lingering fire of resolve continues to burn within the cage of time. I believe that is what makes every moment, makes everyone, a beacon of different worlds. So, what will I see with you?"

Stretching her limbs, she then yawned. It had been a long ride. She got off and thanked the driver whom allowed her to hitchhike. This was far as he could take her. She understood completely and was simply grateful that she was at least quite far from the capitol. This would mean less possibility of being found, but she couldn't get too much comfortable. Her family was stubborn and resilient which she was very familiar with, because she has those same qualities too. She looked around at the town where she was dropped off. She took a deep breath and made sure that her hooded cloak covered her entire body. She couldn't afford anyone to see her for the fear of being identified. She couldn't afford to go back to the castle not until, she finds out what truly happened on that day.

Eona walked through the town. She garnered attention which was to be expected. She was a suspicious character with her current get-up. Luckily, no one had the courage to approach or to confirm their conclusions about her possible identity or intentions. It was good for her because she could focus on where to stay for the night. She was still within the realm of Auxerallia. There were still a few distance away to the border gates. She would need to come up with a plan to infiltrate that. Her father would have probably ordered to tighten security there to limit her chance of getting out. Then, there was also the means of her transportation. She could but a horse or something along those lines, or even hitchhike again.

She was in deep thought, she didn't notice a child bumped her. She remained standing, but it was not the same for the child. She looked at the young boy who was sprawled to the pebbled streets. He seemed to carry a handful of apples as the fruit scattered around them. She instantly picked up the apples and handed it to the boy who seemed to be afraid of her. She couldn't blame him. She would be also in this situation. It was like seeing a creepy ghost with the cloak and all. She looked at the boy closely and see, it is a human. "I'm sorry..." She said with sincerest intentions. She then revealed her face to the boy to appease her. She didn't want to traumatize the child. The boy widened his eyes not in fear, but in amazement of seeing an elf like her.

"Please keep this a secret between us." She said while placing a finger over her lips. The boy enthusiastically nodded which made her smile gently. This only made the child blush. She then covered her face once more an went on her way, but not before waving goodbye to the child. She continued in her search of an inn when she felt a change in her surroundings. The mana seemed to have come to a standstill. There was also no noises which came from the townspeople, not even from the distance. This was truly odd. It was like time had stopped. Was it happening again? She quickly looked at the sky, but there was nothing there, not even the moving clouds. She then heard the sound of a bell much like the kind which cats wear around their neck. It came from behind her as she sharply looked. Her hood falling to her shoulders revealing her face again.

There in front of her was a hooded person much like her attire. Was this person also hiding from someone? But there was something odd about. It was like there was nothing underneath that cloak, but that would be impossible, right? "Lady Eona of the High Elves." Her eyes widened at this. This person knows about her, by the language, a human? "Who are you? Are you here to take me back?" She instantly prepared herself to fight if needed. "I won't go back, not until---" She was then cut off as the mystery person spoke again in a resonating tone with the combination of masculinity and femininity. "You are mistaken. I am only here to give you this amulet." She slowly lowered her guard when an amulet of sorts was presented to her. She slowly approached the mysterious person, closing their distance as she took the amulet.

It was odd, not only of its uncanny appearance, but this feeling of kinship, that was the only way she could describe it. "What would you have me do with this?" She asked but when she looked no one was there anymore. Everything around her seemed to move again as she could hear noises once more, the wind blowing, the mana flowing once more. People were also beginning to crowd the area she was in. Was she dreaming? But that was not it, because in her hand was the given amulet. She stood in middle of the street unaware her face was seen. Some people passed by others, took a moment to admire her. "Find your answers at Heaven's Crown where the Leviathan lays." She quickly perked up as it was spoken to her by ear. She looked at the person who passed her by, but she was not able to detect who spoke.

She was not sure if she should listen to the words of an unknown entity. She was not sure if it was right to put her trust on that, but she had no other means to doubt it. This was her only lead and she was going to Heaven's Crown to begin with. She held the amulet in her hand tighter. No matter what awaits her there, she was not going to run away from it. She then kept the amulet inside her satchel and returned the hood to cover her face. She then blended with the crowd as she now gained another reason to go to Heaven's Crown.

"As the sun sets, As the moon wanes, the lingering fire of resolve continues to burn within the cage of time. I believe that is what makes every moment, makes everyone, a beacon of different worlds. So, what will I see with you?"

It wasn't easy as she had initially thought it would be. That is to travel on her own. Eona always wanted independence and will always raise a complaint when being accompanied by many soldiers or maids wherever she goes. Now, she couldn't help but feel pathetic about it. She was truly pampered and spoiled. She released a heavy sigh and then shook her head. She needed to get it together. Luckily, she looked at the amulet in her hand. It looked normal enough, but she could very well tell it was not as it seems. Adding to that, she did have an encounter with a very suspicious entity because of it. She wondered what that hole in the sky had to do with this or with that mysterious being.

There were too many questions and answers were nowhere in sight. She kept the amulet in her satchel and then looked at the book she had picked up from the local library. She needed to research about the place where the Leviathan's lays. There had been no specific location or guide, but she did found a place obviously matching the phrase in which that person told her to go. It was definitely located at Heaven's Crown, however, the said area has a rather ambiguous reputation. For example in this book, it tells that a Leviathan once seek sanctuary in a hollow cave from its pursuers with the aid of a little human boy. But, this tale did not end on a happy note. The boy betrayed the Leviathan and was struck where it laid. There was a reason behind that action, but it was still a betrayal. In despair, the Leviathan cast the boy out and encircled the whole area in his power, never to be seen again, as it met the end.

She closed the book and had a sad look upon her eyes. This may be just a legend or a fairy tale, but all stories were based on facts that had gotten blurry as time went on. The Leviathan's Lair, that's what it is called nowadays. It's a place of unrefined magic, mystery, and the cases of missing persons. According to the people she had asked, no one had ever returned from this location. She took a deep breath and shrugged her shoulders. There was no choice for her at this point. She wouldn't return to the castle in vain. She will see this journey she had took till the end. "Here's your horse missy!" Eona looked and saw the elderly man she had talked to earlier with a horse she had asked for. She was getting tired with all that walking so, having a horse was a good idea to go about.

She slowly approached the horse and gently reached for its face. It was a beautiful black horse with rusty white color for its mane. This horse was lovely even if it was a stallion at that. "He's beautiful." The man gave a proud laugh and patted the horse in good light. "A beautiful horse for a beautiful lady as they say!" Eona smiled at the man warmly and found his jovial mood infectious. She finds it as a good thing as she nodded. She looked at the horse again and stroked its head with such tenderness, that the horse neighed in satisfaction. "He's already warming up to you!" She was happy for that comment. "Let's get along well..."

She was soon done with the trading and was now up and about. Eona looked at the distant horizon. It was still a far way to go. She was not sure what would happen there or what she would find out. But, it was her choice. Adding to that, she was going to meet with an old acquaintance. May be, that person would know something about that frightening event, the amulet, and about Leviathan's Lair. And so without any more delays, she set out on the road towards Heaven's crown with her stead and strong will.
