Setting
Location: Colony Of Belinian
"Oh...Its the lottery numbers." Came the voice of a young man as he watched the Holovision set as he was busy using a hammer on a metal sheet trying to knock out all the dents to at least make it useable. As such was the life of Leo Behrends living in his family home with his parents in their little colony. Of course his father looking like the year were finally taking some small effect on him simply sighed at the screen. "Yeah, although I only wish there was a different lottery to give some lucky person supplies instead of sending them into a death game...Barbaric and bloody, and people get an enjoyment from it." He commented as he seemed to tune out the voices droning out from the machine to focus on eating some breakfast.
"Yeah, with the rewards they give out it might as well be blood money. Lots of young people join it from what I can see. But I decided to put in my number in." Leo spoke simply as he moved some of his hair out of his left eye as he slowly examined the sheet metal looking for any last trace of dents in it before nodding to himself.
"Of course you decided to partake in such a ridiculous game. I swear I raised a more noble young man not a greedy murderer." His mother chimed in pulling his ear as he gave a startled painful groan. "M-Mom! Calm down!...Ow! I'm not going to participate for the rewards! I heard we can take a free ticket to the ships during the first portion of it. I always wanted to examine the design of the sky ships, that and I want to keep the bloodshed to a minimum. I know I'm risking my neck doing something dumb, but maybe some people might be convinced to not murder each other. I have a way with words and my Special stew toast will be definitely mind blowing for many of them." He tried to smile only to get his ear pulled even harder by his mother causing him to cry out. "Is that so young man!? In that case I did not raise a idiot! Royce dear help talk your son out of this nonsense!" She glared at her husband who raised his hands in surrender. "The last time I helped the kid lost his hand in an explosion. Besides the chances of him actually being picked is low. With all those that want to willing participate his chancs are almost impossible." Royce nodded with a small smile and chuckle.
Of course the room suddenly went quiet as the Holovision suddenly spouted out another string of ID numbers and showed the face of Leo on the screen. "Wow, that's rather lucky or unlucky if you think about that. But I guess in my case I'm a bit lucky." Leo spoke as his mother gave an exhausted sigh as she gave her son a bone breaking hug. "I know there's no talking you out of this you idiot...You better not die in that silly game and you better come back home so I can slap the living daylights out of you for making me worried..." She seemed to hold back tears as Leo gave a soft smile. "Don't worry mom...I learned from the best after all...But...I think I'm going to die from this hug before...Anything else..." He managed to groan out before being released from his mothers bone crushing hug and took a deep breath of fresh air. "I'm gonna show everyone something new. And do my best to try and keep everyone from killing eachother. Oh, and I'll come back with a book about all the foods humans actually eat and details about the sky ships designs." Leo stood up and went to go pack his stuff, only one support item huh? He had to think well on this...
On one hand he could bring his environmental suit, it would better protect him from the elements in case he gets dropped off in a place that's rather poor. But of course there was the whole needing food and protecting yourself from getting attacked...And it was a far easier prospect to find stuff to build one than an actual working gun. As such...He grabbed his rifle and nodded. He hoped he would not need to use it against the other contestants. With that done he got dressed and hugged his parents one last time before setting out and heading to the shuttle and showed his ID and got on board. "Got to look on the bright side of things. At least I get to see a sky ship in person...And I guess I can meet a human face to face actually. This should be pretty cool." He spoke to himself now prepared for the situation he got himself in.
