Jamie Douglas

"So you want to protect me huh? You will have a lot on your plate, because as long as I am alive my purpose will be to eliminate the Nosferat."

0 · 387 views · located in Magix School for Angel's and Mortals

a character in “In an Angel's World”, as played by pyrotechron

Description

Personality

Full name: Jamie Douglas

Age: 16

Status: Student

Who do you want to guard you: Someone who hates the Nosferat as much as I do

Personality: When not brooding over the dreaded Nosferat, Jamie is a normal teenage guy. He could be best described as mischievous, although he usually means no ill. A good challenge will always catch his attention, and when he is not ferociously training he can be found either eating alone or dancing with friends. Generally speaking Jamie's mood is always overshadowed by hate. Hate is what drives him, and sometimes when no one else is around, tears will form from the dull pain which beats within his chest.

Likes: training; dreaming of killing Nosferat; dancing; pizza; girls (although he can be awkward around them); practical jokes

Dislikes: Nosferat; long, boring lectures; being reprimanded; being confined (tied down)

History: The Douglas family used to live on the California coast. They were a respectable family: the father was a CEO at a Research and Development Center, the mother was once a pharmacist but when they had twins she settled down to be a homemaker. The twins were Jamie and Sarah, total and complete opposites. Jamie loved to surf, dance, and sneak out at night to hang with his friends. Sarah loved a simple life of sculpting shapes out of wood. Although very different, the twins loved each other with a bond only known to twins.
Then one night it all changed.
As usual, Jamie crept out of the window sill and scoured into the night to be with his friends. Unknown to him, a pair of sinister eyes watched as he departed the house, leaving the window unlocked. While he was out, a pair of Nosferat crept into the house and devoured the Douglas family in their sleep. When Jamie returned the next day, he discovered all that had happened. Fitting the pieces together, he blamed himself for the death of his family and swore to kill all Nosferat, and as violently as he could. Using the money his mother and father left him, he joined the Magix Academy where he could learn to destroy the Nosferat.

Family: deceased

Dating Anyone: not as of yet

Other: Jamie has two sayings: "What one can do, two can do better!" ... "Nobody dies a virgin. Life fucks us all."

Equipment

Owns two 9mm Beretta pistols and two slender, steel swords as his weapons.
Has a standard wardrobe, supplies, belongings.
Always keeps two pictures on his person: one of his family together and one of his sister.

So begins...

Why did I go this way? I never enter the school through the courtyard. But even as he trudged through the soft lawn, Jamie knew why he had taken the scenic path to school. It was worse today. With every step his brow grew more furrowed and his hands shook with rage. How could they do that? She was only twelve-years-old.. So young and innocent.. The horrible images flashed before his eyes. There she lay: her crumpled, dried-up corpse. She didn't even look human anymore.

WHY?!?

He stopped under the green canopy of a tree, resting against its strong base. Through teary eyes he surveyed the courtyard, ensuring his privacy. The moments of agony, though few, passed slowly. Finally clenching his fist, he gripped the strap on his shoulder and marched toward the cafeteria. He used a sleeve to wipe his eyes, hiding the evidence of his weakness. As he turned his head, it caught his eye. Someone had left there backpack here in the courtyard. A frustrated sigh left his lips. Of course, of all days! Now I will be late for meals because of this. Bloody conscience..

Still grumbling to himself, Jamie bent to scoop up the bag when he caught a glimpse of someone approaching him. Oh geez, the goth kid. It just keeps getting better. Forcing a smile, he picked up the backpack and held it out. "I don't suppose this is yours?"

Joshua approached the guy with a blank look. There goes my hopes on getting some peace and quiet.

Glaring, he snatched the backpack. "Nice of you to show such concern. You deserve a golden star. But do me a favor and don't touch my backpack again." It was the first time in a long time Joshua forgot to bring his backpack, and the thought of someone peeking inside while he was gone irritated him. Who is this guy anyways? I think I have seen him around. Joshua observed him. Average Joe looking, might have a big ego, and bloodshot eyes...looks like he might have been crying. Joshua didn't ask because it was clearly none of his business, he didn't care too much anyways.
The sound of the other guy's stomach confirmed that he was hungry.
"Here." Joshua threw his wrapped sandwich to him. "I'm not that hungry anyways. Hope you like turkey and tomato." Joshua sat down on his usual spot by the pillar, and took a quick peek inside his bag. It's still there. Joshua let out a sigh of relief and zipped up his backpack.

He didn't care whatever this guy thought right now, as long as he had his bag everything was fine. I guess it's better he had it then one of the jocks. Joshua recalled the time he got his butt kicked by one of the jocks while protecting his backpack. He still got detention, but it didn't matter. It was common for Joshua to get detention from either a fight or back-talking the teachers. In a sense, Joshua was popular...in a bad way. Joshua was at his last few strikes, the principle was probably considering to drop him out if anymore shenanigans were to happen.

When the backpack was roughly snatched from his fingers, Jamie's temper swelled. Any lingering thoughts of remorse or sadness were crushed under the anger which now filled his mind. His sarcastic speech did nothing but add unneeded fuel to the already lit flame. Instinctively his hands flew up to catch the offered meal, but he threw it aside in disgust.

"It's people like you that make good deeds not worth doing!" Jamie crouched down for a moment to look Joshua in the eyes. His finger jabbed through the air, pointing at the school. "Don't think I haven't seen you in there. I have. You're hiding something. The whole school can see it. And tell you the truth, I used to care. I used to worry about you. But you just blew it. And if you are dealing with struggles inside, I hope one day you wake up and realize that you're not the only one."

Finished with his little speech, Jamie stood and walked slowly into the school, following his nose to the cafeteria. Some nerve he's got. I was going to return his precious bag, honest. God, why are people like that?

"New guy of yours?" Ezra asked Lissa with a smirk.
"Who, who?" Ivy asked more to herself as looked to the direction they were looking to see the guy they were talking about, disappear outside. With a curious smile she looked back at Lissa waiting to hear the answer. It looked liked she struggled with herself whether she should tell them or not, and at the end she shrugged.
"Not really. I just saw him in the courtyard earlier. Do you guys know him?"

"I think..." Ivy said, biting down on her bottom lip trying to remember, " I think that I have a class with him. Thought I'm not quite sure." Ivy shrugged. "You know that I'm not good at remembering faces."

Her stomach started to grumble so she stood up. "I'm starving. I'm just gonna go and grab something to eat." She took change for a cup of coffee from a vending machine and went toward the food line. After settling for a ham sandwich she headed toward the vending machine. Her thoughts were on Lissa and the guy. She hoped that thing will go alright once she musters up her courage and talk to him. If nothing else she and Ezra will try to help Lissa, of course only if she asks. Ivy wouldn't like to butt in without Lissa knowing. That would be not like her after all she is a bit of a shy person herself around the people she doesn't know yet. She was so deep in thoughts remembering the day that she met the two angel, that she didn't notice the guy in front of her until she bumped into him. The change and the sandwich went flying down.

"So sorry. I wasn't looking." she told him and bent down to pick up her lunch and the money. "I better not think about anything except walking," she said to herself, "First I trip while reading a book and now, a bumped into someone. One of these day I might as well fall and hurt myself."

"Oh, Ivy.." Lissa muttered as she watched her friend trip again as she crashed into a guy. Lissa recalled him from one of her classes, Jamie Douglas, that's who he was. She'd never talked to him before. In fact, she didn't recall anyone talking to him before. But, then again, she always sketched faces in her classes so she probably wouldn't have noticed if anyone did.

Suddenly, Lissa's phone beeped and she reached down to check that she had a message from her mother.

"Hi, honey, how's school going? We haven't seen you in a long time." Lissa sighed. Since her family lived in Michigan, she had had to move into one of the on-campus apartments so she could attend here. She couldn't even remember the last time she had visited them. It wasn't that she didn't love her family, she did. She just felt like she could never be good enough in their eyes, because of how timid she was she had never been good at the other things Angels did to protect humans, like offensive magic. Ezra was lucky, she had water magic, so if she ever got in a fight, she could defend her and her human with it. Spirit wasn't good for anything except the aftermath. How was she ever going to be a Guardian Angel if she couldn't protect anybody?

"It's good. Learning a bunch." Lissa txted back a quick reply and turned back to her friends, burying everything down into her deep hole inside her heart.

Joshua got up and dusted himself. And I thought I was the moody one. Joshua looked at the sandwich which was now on the ground smothered. What a waste... Thinking back at the guy said, one sentence did hit him hard. "You're not the only one." Okay he obviously had a rough day, maybe I should have gone a little easier on him. Just a little bit. For a moment Joshua just stood holding on to his backpack. Still, it's not really my problem.
Joshua had a decision to make, and it went against what he would usually do.

Joshua followed behind Jamie and tapped his shoulder. Joshua's voice was more lowered now. "Dude, take it easy. I apologize, but the way I act sometimes comes instinctively. I don't mean to get all warm and fuzzy on you all of a sudden, but I don't need yet another person to hate me in this school." Yes, the words felt awkward coming from him, but Joshua was honest.

Joshua turned away and slightly rolled his eyes. "You can think I'm a freak or whatever like everyone else, but just it's just kind of who I am." Hell, why am I even saying this much? I should stop while I'm ahead.
Now that he said his piece, Joshua turned to walk away but not before he heard a crash and turned to see some girl bumped into the other guy.

Jamie's temper was cooling slowly as he strolled into the cafeteria. I just need some food. My stomach has been talking to me for the past hour. Glancing at the food line, he decided to settle for something from the vending machines. As he reached into his back pocket for his wallet, he felt a tap on the shoulder.

It was the voice of the goth kid. He was apologizing. Ok, so maybe I was harsh too. But today really has been a bad day. He turned to catch the kid before he had gone too far, but then a girl suddenly walked directly into his path.

"Oh shi--!" Too late to avoid it, he stumbled into her. Whatever items she had been holding went flying across the cafeteria floor. The girl apologized and began picking up her items. Maybe I should skip class today. This day is only bound to get worse. He knelt to grab a few scattered pieces of ham. Standing to toss them into the trash disposal, he suddenly stopped; a flash of recognition crossed his eyes.

"It's ok, don't worry about it. You're Ivy, right?" He offered a coaxing smile for her to speak, almost forgetting about the guy behind him.

"It's ok, don't worry about it. You're Ivy, right?" he said with a coaxing smile.
Ivy looked up at him. "That's right. And you are..." she tilted her head, "Jamie, if I recall correctly." Ivy said, smiling at him. "I hope I'm not wrong, cause that would be embarrassing" she mumbled more to herself. "So, how are you?" she asked putting the money she managed to pick up, into her pocket. She was a bit sad about dropping her lunch, but there was nothing she could do, after all there is no reason to cry over spilled milk or in her case dropped sandwich.

"That's correct!" He faltered for a moment, unsure of what to say or do next. Come on Jamie, do SOMETHING! Stalling for time, he turned and threw the ham into the garbage. That's when he remembered the goth kid.

"Nice to meet you, Ivy. I gotta...go." Jamie laughed apprehensively. "See ya!" Turning to follow the goth kid, he was surprised to see the hallway was empty. Where did you go? Unsure of which way to even pursue the guy, Jamie shrugged and turned back to the vending machines. He grabbed the cold chocolate milk bottle out of the dispenser and walked toward the courtyard.

I think I will play hookie today. It's been awhile, and at the rate I was going... His thoughts trailed off.

Jamie strolled into the courtyard, glancing around furtively while attempting to retain a casual air. It's been awhile since I last skipped class. No one noticed me leave last time, wonder if I could get away with it again..

Swirling the last of the chocolate milk with his right hand, he quickly pressed the bottle to his lips and downed the thick, sweet liquid. He threw the empty container and its cap into the nearest garbage can, then continued to traverse the grassy lawns. He stopped under a cherry tree, then turned to face the academic building.

"So many stories here." He mumbled aloud. And it was true. Not only the architecture and the design of the buildings on campus, but the teachers, students, and angels who resided within. Each one held there own history..each one was like a book. Pieces of a puzzle that would all fit together for a greater picture. For a moment, Jamie wondered what his part could be in this puzzle.

"Shit, quit your worrying man!" A quick grin played across his lips. Clenching his fists compulsively, the answer spilled out his mouth. "My purpose is pay-back. Those creatures will pay!"

The teenager smiled to himself. Maybe take a day off and just work out. I could run across town to the wooded area..no one would ever find me there. Perfect spot to play a lil hookie.. He remained under the cherry tree, hesitating between choices.

Lissa and Ezra walked outside to the courtyard ((I know I'm sorry for typing for you and for successive posting. I broke my own rule, SO SORRY)) and to Lissa's cherry tree. But, when they got there, there was someone else standing under the tree. It was the Jamie guy, the one that Ivy had bumped into earlier! Lissa stopped and looked at him with wide eyes. He had always been so closed off from the rest of the school that she had never noticed him before. And now here he was, standing under Lissa's tree. Why was he here? What was he thinking about?

His head was positioned downward and his face was set in thought, as if he was trying to decide his own path. He seemed to wrestle with his thoughts, and Lissa sympathized. She often dealt with the same thing within her own mind, and the cherry tree had always been a place for her to sketch and clear out her head. I guess it just calls to everyone that way, Lissa thought.

She approached the tree gently, deciding that she would ask him if he was okay. She could tell earlier that Ivy had her mindset on him, even if she didn't know it yet. Lissa was merely trying to be helpful and friendly, as was in her nature. She didn't want to take away her friends guy. Besides, that boy from earlier was still fresh in Lissa's mind.

"Hey, are you alright?" Lissa asked tentatively, reaching her arm out as if to touch his shoulder.

After Jamie left with a See ya, Ivy went to buy another sandwich, but since all the ham sandwiches were sold she had to settle for the veggie one. Walking back to the table, this time without bumping into anyone, she saw that Ezra and Lissa were about to head outside. Most probably so Lissa could sketch Ezra dancing. Ivy liked Lissa's drawings very much. She never could get enough of how amazingly good she was. Sometimes Ivy wished that she could draw like her. At the time when they first met she asked Lissa to give her a few drawing lessons but she never actually got past the stick drawings so she eventually gave up, not wanting to waste Lissa's time. And there is Ezra. She was something else when she danced. She danced so gracefully that she managed to leave everyone who watched her, in awe. Sometimes when Ivy watched her dance she would feel like the time has stopped, that's how great she was.

"See you girls later." Picking up her bag she waved to the two angel and headed toward the lockers. When she got to her locker she put her bag in and took out her chemistry text book and notes, then closed the locker. Checking the time she saw that she had still a few minutes before classes started. Deciding that it would be better if she would be there earlier, she headed in the direction of the chemistry lab. She was the first one who arrived because the rest of the class was probably still in the cafeteria. Ivy leaned on the wall and took a bite of her veggie sandwich. Today the teacher would assign the new lab partners and Ivy wondered who will she be partnered up with. Her last lab partner was a girl called Susan. She was a nice person and also liked reading just like Ivy. She transferred a few months ago and they exchanged numbers. They kept writing to each other and calling but it's been a few weeks since Ivy heard from her.
She finished eating and went to trow away the wrapper in the trash. Just when she got back the bell started ringing.

Ezra got up with Lissa but it also required taking off her ear buds, and putting her ipod away. She waved to Ivy who was now heading towards her locker. Soon she was tagging along with her walking to the courtyard. She knew Lissa had enough time to make a sketch, that is if she didn't get distracted by her flawless moves. She couldn't blame her. If Ezra was a normal human she would be at a Broadway show. She looked into the distance at the beautifully blossoming tree, the one Lissa usually sat at. "Humph." She grunted. He didn't look like he was just their to relax, not one bit.

Lissa started to walk forward without giving a warning to Ezra. Ezra shrugged and followed behind. Might as well follow then be alone.....Okay maybe that wasn't the way it went but you get the idea. She was just a step behind her when she was now in front of him. She narrowed her eyes a little bit at him. A lot of people don't come out here, so why now. She thought as she slumped her backpack of her shoulder and put it on the ground. She put her hands on her sides and her heard friend ask, "Hey, are you alright?"

Surprised to hear a female voice, Jamie quickly glanced up at the two girls before him. A flash of panic crossed the teenager's face and he shoved his hands into his pockets. Oops, time to go!

"Don't need your help." He jumped away from her hand, turning away from the two and briskly walking the path out of the courtyard and away from the school. As he walked, he felt their gaze burning into his back, but he didn't care. Shrugging it off, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rubber ball. Twirling it between his fingers and bouncing it against the concrete walkways always helped to soothe his mind. The ball bounced up and he deftly snatched it out of the air, sending in back down to the earth. Just keep walking, act casual and no one will second guess you. Who needs classes when you have the entire world to your fingertips anyway?

"Don't need your help." Jamie said roughly, leaping away from Lissa's hand. Lissa stared at him dumbfounded. She hadn't meant to startle him. She just wanted to help him. She watched him turn and walk away quickly from them, wishing he hadn't reacted the way he did. But, then again, she could understand if he didn't want anyone's help. Maybe Ivy could help him, if she managed to talk to him more.

"I wonder what's the matter?" Lissa asked rhetorically to Ezra. Ezra hadn't moved from her spot a few paces behind Lissa, and when Lissa looked back at her, she stood there watching with curiosity. "Oh well," Lissa said, shrugging, "If he doesn't want help, then I don't blame him. Are you ready to get started?" She asked her best friend, getting out her supplies and taking a seat under the tree. In the back of her mind she reminded herself to ask Ivy about Jamie. He looked like he could use a friend, and it would help further their relationship anyway. Lissa sighed and leaned back, waiting to watch her friend's beautiful movement across the courtyard begin.

Stella landed safely on the ground in front of the Magix School grounds in front of the doors. She was assigned to a new human that happened to attend this school. She couldn't wait to meet him. She knows pretty much everything about him or what she was told about him to be prepared for all his ways. She walked through the gate just to see her human walking away from the school. She was very excited to meet him, but she didn't want to seem that way. She looked up into the heavens and said a quick prayer for assistance and she let her wings loose. They were pure white and seemed to glow. The feathers were soft and majestic, she loved her wings, but likes to walk as well.

She lifted a few inches off the ground to float over to her knew human. She only knew his history and was dying to know what his personality was like. What would happen if he was mean? What happens if he didn't like her? She thought for a moment and laughed silently to herself. Everyone liked her. She finally caught up with him and landed silently behind him. She inhaled and was ready to meet her new human. "Hi there. You must me Jamie!" She said excited.

Ezra scoffed at Jamie's harsh words. Like she was going to help him anyways. She looked over at Lissa and second guessed herself. Ezra's isn't that mean, technically she isn't mean at all. I guess she gets a bad vibe from him and becomes all rude and well, different. She turned to watch him go. He looked so casual like he didn't have a problem not just two seconds ago. Now he was bouncing a ball up and down without a care in the world. She sighed and turned back to Lissa who had just set up everything by the tree, and by the looks of it, it seems she was ready to draw anything Ezra was going to give. "Let's do this." She said before walking to the middle of the courtyard to begin.

Ezra grabbed her ipod out of her pocket and scrolled through until she found the perfect song. She turned it all the way up and put it in the grass where it would be heard. She took a breath and got it her starting pose. Crossed legs and hands held out. When she got with the beat she began with a twirl and a leap in the air. She moved herself gracefully and by looking at her you could see that her eyes were changing bright blue. She twirled, she plied, she passed, she did attitude, she even add her own moves to give it a little taste. She could feel the music coursing through her moving her body in ways she thought she would never have know she could do.

Ezra did her final leap and did a split in the air. When she landed again she did a plie and looked down at the ground to finish it. She was like that for awhile until she looked up and stood up straight. Her eye's were back to their normal beautiful gray. You would have thought she had broken a sweat but she didn't. Not one strand over sweat was on her. She shook out her tired body and walked over to her friend who was now loking at her. "So, what does it look like?" Ezra asked.

"Hi there. You must me Jamie!"

The steady thud of the rubber ball against the pavement ceased as the angelic voice rang in Jamie's ear. His shoulders fell in disappointment. Couldn't they all just leave me alone! He turned slowly and that's when he first laid eyes on her. His guardian.

Her brown hair cascaded down to her shoulders, enveloping her beautiful, smiling face. Everything about her radiated with beauty, even the magnificent wings protruding from her back. For a moment, Jamie was taken aback at the beauty. A guardian angel? What is a guardian doing here?

"Yeah, that's me." He averted eye contact and squeezed the rubber material in his hand. What did it matter to a guardian angel? She is here to punish me for skipping class, that's all. An awkward silence followed for a moment, then he asked boldly, "What's a guardian doing here?"

Stella smiled, but could tell he was irritated about something. It was obvious he was skipping class not that she cared. "What's a guardian doing here?" She pushed her hands through her light brown hair. "I am your guardian. I just wanted to talk to you." She said as calmly as possible, which sometimes wasn't as easy as it seemed. She frowned a little. She didn't like how he looked upset with her. What did I do? I just got here? She said to herself, but she was going to figure it out. She folded her wings into her back and walked closer to him.

"What's the matter?" She asked with a concerning tone. No human of hers was ever going to be sad if she could do something about it.

Jamie's facial expression changed from annoyed to astonished in an instant.

"Your my guardian angel?" His mind was flooded with thoughts and emotions of every genre. This is my guardian? Why her? It's like someone picked up a life-size Barbie and slapped some wings on it, taught it to talk, then said "Hey, you are Jamie's guardian!" Why, why, why??

He stood quiet for a moment, processing the news. His mouth trembled slightly as he asked: "So..." He breathed in deeply then continued. "What changes now that I have you?"
