a character in “Infinite Earths”, as played by The Afterman

Description

Theme Song

Real Name: Kal-El/Clark Kent
Alias: Superman, The Man of Steel
Allegiance: Independent
Sex: Male
Race: Kryptonian
Age: Twenty-six
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 235 lbs.
Appearance: Superman is tall, and very muscular, owing in no small part to his Kryptonian heritage. His skin is quite light in tone, despite his need to absorb sunlight to maintain his power. His black hair and piercing blue eyes lend to his admittedly handsome features, a single curl of hair dangling in front of his face. He typically wears a blue and red outfit, a suit of his own design, made of sturdy fibers that are comfortable and form fitting, a broad emblem known as the "S Shield" adorning the torso. All-in-all, Superman's appearance inspires many things in those that bear witness to him: hope, awe, even romantic fancy. He is the very image of a true hero.

Personality: Superman is an upstanding individual, always bound to do what is right. He was raised to be a gentle, thoughtful man, and as such has grown into one of the most compassionate, just men to have existed. He genuinely cares for the well-being of the human race, and would at a moment's notice give his life if it meant guarding Earth from danger. He is intelligent, but doesn't always think things through, which often puts him in trouble in combat situations. Overall, Superman is a figure of great morality, and benevolent to his last breath. He is gentle and kind, and always willing to save the day, although, he is often plagued by doubts regarding his ability to defend humanity.
Goals & Ambitions: To protect Earth and humankind from any and all threats to its well-being; to overcome his doubt and to fully discover his lost heritage as a Kryptonian.

Abilities & Equipment: Superman is a Kryptonian, which grants him a plethora of superhuman abilities while under the rays of a yellow sun, such as Earth's.

Superman's physicality is an amazing trait in and of itself. While bathed in the rays of sunlight, he is granted supreme strength, stamina and agility, able to move "faster than a speeding bullet", and having "more power than a locomotive." Superman is capable of lifting objects hundreds of times greater than his body weight, and can take a heavy amount of damage without being daunted. Additionally, he is invulnerable to nearly all attacks, such as gunfire, low-output electric shocks and explosions. Alongside this is a healing factor, which allows Superman to recover from the, albeit rare, serious injuries he actually does incur.

Because of his Kryptonian physiology, he is also granted a number of superpowers:

Flight - Due to his affinity for the yellow sun, Superman is able to generate his own anti-gravitational force, effectively allowing him to fly. This allows him rapid mobility around the globe, as well as providing a tactical advantage by way of elevation.

Invulnerability - Superman is nearly indestructible, able to withstand massive amounts of damage. Bullets deflect off of his person when shot, and he has stood in the wreckage of explosions without so much as a scratch. Although he can be damaged by large enough amounts of force, it is extremely difficult to put the Man of Steel down.

Heat Vision - One of Superman's most notable powers is his ability to project electromagnetic energy through his eyes. By absorbing energy from the sun, Superman is able to discharge infrared beams from his eyeballs. These beams are heated, and able to melt through most materials, especially thick ice and metals.

Longevity - Being Kryptonian, Superman doesn't age the same way humans do. Under Earth's sun, he can live indefinitely.

Weaknesses: Despite his amazing strength, Superman does possess his own vulnerabilities:

Kryptonite - Irradiated fragments of the planet Krypton, these mineral pieces produce a detrimental effect to Kryptonian anatomy, draining those exposed to its harmful presence of their power. Prolonged exposure could lead to permanent damage or death.

Magic - Superman is vulnerable to all forms of magic, as his physicality is not suited to withstand taking damage from such an "unnatural" force.

Disease - Although Superman's metabolism is excellent and his anatomy makes him nigh indestructible, he is still susceptible to major biological ailments contracted on Earth, such as cancer.

Personal History: Born on the dying planet of Krypton, the baby Kal-El was placed into an escape pod by his parents and evacuated before the planet's downfall. He drifted through space for a time, before finally arriving the planet Earth. Here, he landed in the middle of a field in Smallville, Kansas, a small American town populated with simple folk, most of whom were farmers. It was here that he was discovered by the Kents, Johnathan and Martha, who took the alien baby in to raise as their own son. Giving him the name Clark Kent, the couple brought the baby back to their farmhouse.

As he grew up, Clark had trouble adapting to his new home, fearfully discovering his abilities one by one. Eventually, his parents had to come clean with him, telling him about the night they found him, telling him that, nevertheless, the loved him as if he were their own. They shaped him to become a man of principle, of ethics and of honesty; they were raising him to be a good man. It was years later when he finally moved to Metropolis, finding employment at the Daily Planet as an investigative journalist, a front for his true calling: becoming the Man of Steel; Metropolis' own Superman.
Occupation: Superhero
Family: Johnathan Kent - Father
Martha Kent - Mother
