Political figureheads and characters;


President Richard Adar;


Former Caprica City mayor. Many of his staff of his second administration continued on from his first, and a few remained with him from his days as mayor. What little is known about his terms in office indicate that he favored authoritarian, hardline solutions to problems such as union strikes, and that at least one of these incidents led to numerous civilian deaths. Adar is also a hardliner on foreign policy, authorizing military strikes in more then one incidence. President Adar also is a strong advocate of hard-line tactics when dealing with wartime, including glassing enemy worlds, and disregard for civilian casualties.

Vice President Coyle Boron;

Vice President Boron was a strong advocate in Adar's hardliner handling of the late Trade Union strikes in Sagittaron. Boron is an advocate for socialist reform, along with the privatization of health care, the privatization of schools and the strengthening of the military. He is a hardliner when it comes to foreign policy, favoring military resolutions over peaceful diplomacy. He is a firm believer in the old Goa'uld ways, and grew up in a household that still had beliefs to the Goa'uld Heru-ur, he is considered a heretic among the Temples and unfit for office.

Minister of Defense, Claire Angelique-McGregor;

Claire possesses a reserved, cool almost cold personality, yet holds a near deadly calm with most everything. It takes a great deal to crack the shell she has built around herself, but even less to anger her. She is quick to fly off the handle, though not as quick to forgive. She holds grudges, and does not easily let go of them. Hardened with the years of the knowledge that most of what she knows or has known is no more, she is a difficult woman. But she is fair and just when it comes to a crew of men and women.

Chairman of the Aschen High Space Command, Helena Cain;

As a 9-year-old girl on her hometown of Tauron, Helena witnessed her parents' deaths during a Goa'uld attack on the final day of the Great war of Magellan. She fled with her sister, Lucy, but the younger sibling stumbled in the rubble. Too injured to continue, Lucy pleaded for help from her older sister, but Helena froze and, seeing a Cylon landing party, ran away and hid in a nearby storage container. She was discovered there by a Jaffa warrior. As it targeted her, she picked up a folding knife and prepared to defend herself, killing the warrior with great efficiency. Now safe, Helena returned to where she left her sister, but the younger girl was missing. Only her doll remained. In the aftermath, Helena vowed to do whatever it took to survive. Cain later made a name for herself as a smart and ambitious officer in the AHSC. She was something of a rising star with strong political connections: Commander William Adama later remarks she was promoted "to Fleet Admiral over half the Commanders on the list". This was most likely due to her strong political connections than actual command ability.

Rear Admiral Raphael Eiru McGregor;

Born to the wealthy and very influential McGregor family, Raphael quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the youngest and most prominent Admirals in the AHSC. He is well known for his tactical abilities as well as his command abilities. Raphael however is prone to mental breakdowns, and was a veteran in the tail-end of the Great War of Magellan, he currently holds the rank of Admiral. His Flagship is the Battlestar Acropolis.

Paul L. 'Operations' Wolfe;

A Magellan veteran, former Lieutenant Paul L. Wolfe was recruited into Section One against his will just before the fall of Hypatia, Tal'Dor. During his escape from the city he is pursued by the Jaffa and takes shelter in the cellar of an abandoned hut. He is rescued by a mysterious shining figure who identifies himself as "Sam Operations". The figure plunges an ice pick into Wolfe's heart and, using a straw inserted into the puncture hole, injects a liquid that knocks him out. Upon awakening Wolfe is detained by a Jaffa Warrior. A shrewd and driven man, Operations eventually topples the founder and head of Section One, Adrian, seizing control of the organization himself. While giving lip service to the aims of Section — the eradication of terrorists and the protection of the innocent — Operations uses Section One as his own power base, gaining considerable control over dictators in many regions of the globe.

Caprica City;
Caprica City is a major metropolitan area and capital of the Aschen Confederation and the Prefecture of the same name. Situated on the Caprican Bay, Caprica City - or "C City" for short - is home to the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the Aschen Government as well as the worlds famous Caprica City Buccaneers. Divided into many distinct neighborhoods and sections, Caprica City boasted gleaming skyscrapers and a rich population of some 7 million, including such luminaries of Aschen life as famed industrialist Doctor Daniel Graystone and noted scientist Doctor Gaius Baltar.

Prefecture of, Aerilon
Aerilon is primarily an agricultural nation. It is considered to be the "food basket" of the Aschen Confederation and ranked among its poorest members.

Aerilon's capital is Gaoth.

The mannerisms of Aerilon's natives were considered rough and rude, at least by Caprican standards. The people of this nation/prefecture also spoke with a distinctive accent that was quite hard to cover up.

Tauron, Prefecture of;
Tauron is a barren, arid country that lacked any kind of flowers. However, it was well-known for its agriculture. Its capital is Hypatia, another large city was Tauron City.
Taurons are known to be very traditional people, even speaking a very old and distinctive language.
Some 800 years before the present Tauron was colonized by Virgon and Leonis. The people of Tauron liberated themselves and ever since this country has been known for its troubled and violent history.
Tauron was one of the poorer colonial worlds and the center of a civil war. A few years before the First Great war of Magellan, the crime syndicate Ha'la'tha had enormous influence over the planet, which even extended to other nations, such as Caprica.


Tech Con Headquarters;
Home to the massive Mega-corporation Tech con Group, this massive building nestled in the city of Leonis, is the pinnacle of architectural engineering. Not much is known what goes on in this building. However Tech Con is known for it's weapons, ship and electronics manufacture. However the company attains a monopoly over much of the Aschen Confederation. You cannot go far without hearing about the company 'Tech Con'


HubCity, Tal'Dor;
HubCity is the capital city of the planet Tal'Dor, which is a major Outer-Territories shipping hub, Tal'Dor has an estimated population of 4.5 Billion people. Tal'Dor is also the second largest Military hub in the Aschen Confederation, with Langara being the first.






The Aschen Military



Military Deployment; Military deployment in the Aschen Confederation is entirely dependent on the situation. civilians are governed usually by local police forces, as well as county and prefectural police forces. Aschen Military deployments are almost always off world, usually conisting of an orbital blockade, followed by orbital drop and beaming down of shock troopers, followed by larger gunships designed to transport larger number of troops and armored vehicles to the targeted world. Which is usually softened up by orbital bombardment.


Aschen High Space Command; The Aschen Navy -- though better known as the AHSC, they are the backbone of the entire Aschen Confederation, tasked with defending the Confederation, protecting the borders, and protecting the shipping lines. The standard ship in the AHSC is the Battlestar, a well rounded Aschen ship, packing firepower, troop carrying capacity, and fighter support. The AHSC Also holds several sub branches. The Objective Force, Tactical Operations, and AHSC Strategic Command.



Aschen Confederation Marine Corps; The Ground Pounders of the Aschen Confederation. The Aschen Confederation Marine Corps is the backbone of any planetary assault corps. The ACMC Specialize in ground warfare, such as armored assaults, shock troops, planetary and shipboard security. The ACMC is a well rounded, well equipped ground attack force. The standard for the Marines is the plasma rifle, with the Vehicle being the Myrmidon HBT.

Military Readiness;
Aschen Military readiness comes in several phases. There's three conditions associated with the confederation, Condition Three is normal peacetime readiness, this consists of standard deployments, military exercises, and Battlestar patrols all over the Confederation. Condition Two is the next level, this is Alert Readiness, this consists of larger patrols, fleet deployments, and tactical assessments. Condition One is full wartime readiness, with tactical and strategic coordination with all major branches of the Aschen Military.

Weapons:

One super heavy plasma beam cannon: Mounted on the underside to effectively bombard planets from orbit, the weapon fires one large 10 second maintained burst and takes roughly two minutes to charge for a second shot. This weapon is used primarily for orbital bombardment, and low-atmospheric glassing, as well as ship-to-ship combat.
Maximum Effective Range: 1,500 Miles in space, and 600 miles in the atmosphere.

Six forward mounted plasma torpedo tubes: Each torpedo uses superheated magnetically contained plasma that is released upon detonation, the blast power of this weapon is 10 kilotons, it is used primarily in orbital bombardment and ship-to-ship combat, the torpedoes serve as a secondary weapon system for the Reverence.
Maximum Effective Range: 800 Miles in space, and 300 miles in the atmosphere.

Thirty (30) Heavy Turbo-Plasma turrets: These serve as anti-ship and point defense turrets, each firing a heavy bust of plasma at a high rate of fire. These Twin-barreled turrets have a 360 degree rotation and a 80 degree arc of fire.
Maximum Effective Range: 300 Miles in space, 80 miles in the atmosphere

Five Nuclear missile tubes: Each Nuclear missile tube is capable of fitting a missile armed with a 1.2 Gigaton warhead, to aid in the ship's glassing operations, missiles can be fitted with smaller warheads.

The weapons are in the bow of the ship under the "chin"of the forward section. Instead of firing bursts, the weapon fires a single high density round at extremely high velocities and inflict incredible damage. Primary Anti-Ship weaponry.
Maximum Effective Range: 480 miles (772.5 km) in space and 24 miles (38.6 km) if fired into an atmosphere.

Four are mounted on the underside of the upper hull on the ship's bow, two more turrets are mounted on the front and back of each flight pod, with others scattered along the length of the hull and flight pods. Each mount can rotate 360 degrees and has a 90 degree arc of fire. Each mount fires rounds at extremely high velocity and inflict heavy damage upon their target. Secondary Anti-Ship weaponry.
Maximum Effective Range: 320 miles (515 km) in space and 16 miles (25.6 km) if fired into an atmosphere.

Point Defense Kinetic Energy Mounts (322): These act as the Battlestar's main point defense weaponry and are in twin mounts. They are similar to the mounts carried on Vipers and are used against both fighters and missiles. The Battlestar has these mounts on the main hull and flight pods. Each mount can rotate 360 degrees and has a 90 degree arc of fire. These electromagnetic weapons fire high density projectiles at incredible velocities.
Maximum Effective Range: 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) in an atmosphere and 32,000 feet (9,600 meters) in space.

Power Source: The Ship is powered by fusion reactors that will theoretically operate for 40 years and can provide effectively unlimited electrical power. However, it was recommended that the drive and power system have routine maintenance every 5 years. Also, the ship only carries about an eight month supply of reaction mass / fuel for Jump drives.

* Hardened Circuitry and Electromagnetic Shielding: All electronics and computers on the star ship are constructed with hardened circuitry and the ship itself is built with shielding to prevent EMP and jamming from damaging circuitry. The effect is that jamming and EMP will not damage any system while it can blind the ships radar and radio communication system. Laser systems will not be affected by jamming.
* Command and Control Facilities: The battlestar carries extra communications equipment and command facilities, to enable the ship to operate as the flagship for a flotilla.
* Jamming System: This system scrambles all electronic signals for a range of 10,000 miles (16,100 km) in space and will penetrate an atmosphere for a distance of 100 miles (161 km). The system can also confuse missiles. It has a 55% chance of confusing missiles but some missiles can home on jamming signals.
* Integral Phase Array Radar System (Called DRADIS ): This system is in many ways to the Aegis system that was used on many naval vessels. The radar system can cut through jamming systems at one quarter of the systems normal range allowing the system to work well against targets that are jamming. The system has a range of 120,000 miles (193,000 km) in space and can penetrate the atmosphere up to 1,200 miles (1,930 km). The system can track and identify 5,120 targets at one time. Can also target each individual missile to a separate target at up to 1200 targets.
* E.S.M.: Radar Detector, Passively detects other radars being operated.
* Neutrino Sensor: All fusion and fission reactors output neutrinos (So do stars and anti-matter systems as well). The system can also detect nuclear weapons. The ship uses a specialized magnetic field to capture and focus neutrinos into a sensor designed to detect neutrinos. The system also eliminates neutrinos from the sun although it is impossible to detect a target if the target is between the sensor system and the sun due to the overloading the ability of the system to detect neutrinos. The Neutrino sensor has a range of 100 miles (160 km) penetration of an atmosphere and has a range of 10,000 miles (16,100 km) in space. The sensor has a 65% chance of being able to be able to detect nuclear weapons as well as differentiate between fusion and fission reactors.

Military Forces

Aschen High Space Command

Overview:
The Aschen High Space Command is the largest military branch in the Aschen Confederation, it's the backbone of the confederation, and functions as a viable Starfleet in the event of wartime. The AHSC is responsible for several things within the confederation, from wartime security, to peacetime law enforcement.

Offensive Doctrine:
The AHSC's Offensive doctrine is divided into three sub-categories, Planetary Assault, Strategic Attack, and Space Acquisition.

Planetary Assault:
The AHSC's Assault doctrine is relatively clean cut. Divided into several phases utilising the employment of the Aschen's space assets, planetary assault begins with the deployment of space borne assets to the enemy planetary system.

[*] Phase I - Orbital Engagement and Foothold acquisition: The Aschen Invasion fleet arrives at the planetary system, at this time Aschen space forces have a single priority, they are usually tasked to engage enemy ship positions (if present) Until they are destroyed. The Aschen space forces employ a number of Bombardment and fire and maneuver tactics to suppress enemy ship positions. The Aschen also utilize close-in melee engagements using short FTL Jumps to jump close to enemy ships capable of firing great distances, and using their close range yet powerful weaponry to engage the enemy vessels, once orbital supremacy is achieved, Phase II begins.

[*] Phase II - Orbital Bombardment and softening of planetary defenses: The planetary defenses, as well as key military and civilian positions are engaged from orbit using a combination of conventional, chemical and nuclear ordinance. Orbital Bombardment lasts usually up to two or three days of sustained precise bombardment to soften military targets, and demoralize the civilian population.

[*] Phase III - Planetary Invasion begins: Phase III begins with the insertion of key shock troopers, usually Objective Force Warriors to key military and civilian positions, this is done by two ways, HEV Deployment (Human Entry Vehicle), and Matter-Stream Transit ('Beaming Down') Shock troopers to positions to establish a foothold on the planet, and establish operating and secure LZs for the main invasion force.

[*] Phase IV - The Main Invasion Force: This falls under the responsibility of the Aschen Confederation Marine Corps. This means that the main invasion force will consist of the Marine invasion force. when enemy resistance has been subdued, the Marines are in charge with security, suppression of rebellion, and general occupation forces.

Defensive Doctrine:
The Aschen Defensive doctrine is enforced by several parties within the Aschen Confederation. The first line of defense is ship patrols, these are tasked, in a wartime situation to engage enemy ships to prevent them from landing on Confederation worlds. Engaging enemy forces in space permits the Aschen to maintain security by preventing an enemy force from landing troops on a given planet. Aschen ships usually operate in defensive groups of Two Battlestars, and several escorts. This allows Aschen ships to effectively defend a given world.

The Second line is the Langaran Defense Agency, this consists of the Home Feet, their responsibility is to defend the planet from any and all incursions, the LDA's assets consist of a vast intelligence network, a viable defensive military, and ground forces operating on Langara. The LDA is tasked with wartime security under Martial Law on Langara, as well as enforcing immigration and customs, as well as Orbital Guard, and Shore Patrol.

The Last line of defense, in the event Langara is actually invaded, is the AHMC, or the Aschen High Military Command, this unites all operating and remaining militaries into one cohesive force, for one purpose. The defense of Langara.

Logistics Doctrine:
Aschen Logistics doctrine is fairly streamlined. When a battle is underway, Aschen Ships usually carry the supplies to enable them to fight long drawn out battles, this lessens the logistical strain of shipping ammunition and supplies from Langara to a given battle.
