Briing! rang Ethon’s alarm clock. Ethon gave it a sigh, before turning it off. He had already begun work, after all. Turning back to the packet of papers on his wooden desk, he continued to work away on the budget for the coming week.
The mine’s have a surplus from last time - so I can move some of this budget to the new construction project on the west side of the Black Kingdom... that would bring production up to an all-time high, which would allow our speed to greatly increase. He turned slightly towards the door as he heard a quiet knock. “Come in,” he murmured, before turning back to his work. The door opened quietly, as his head advisor walked into the room.
“Up already, Prince Ethon?” he asked with a smile. “The sun’s just about to rise.” He threw open the thick curtains of the room open, allowing some of the sunlight to enter. “And working hard, I see? Is there anyway that I can persuade you to take a break?”
Ethon shook his head, continuing to chew on his pen. “The budget’s just about balanced - I can’t stop now,” he looked up when the advisor placed a slice of strawberry cheesecake on his papers. He gave a pleased smile, before putting his pen away and starting to eat his breakfast - he always did have a weakness for strawberry cheesecake. “Is there anything that has to be done today?”
The advisor looked down at the papers in his hand. “Let’s see - today, you have a little bit more free time than you did yesterday -,” His attire was black with silver trimmings, and just like Ethon's appearance - everything was in its supposed place.
Ethon shook his head, before putting down his fork. “Move some of tomorrow’s tasks to today. I couldn’t look at my subjects truthfully if I took that much time off.”
The advisor frowned at him, but continued with his listing of tasks, “You have to oversee the mines, finish balancing the budget, provide a salary for the workers here, and, of course, meet with your subjects today.”
Ethon gave a quiet nod, before handing the now-clean plate to his advisor. “Thanks for the help.” He then turned back to his calculations. “I’ll have my tasks done by noon - we’ll open the doors to my subjects then.” Taking this as a dismissal, the advisor turned and opened the door to leave, “And remember, make sure the doors are opened exactly at noon. I’m leaving it in your capable hands," he called after his advisor. "Noon exactly."
