a character in “Island of Doctor Moreau”, as played by kyuukonhime

Description

Name: Verana "Varin" Polock
Age: 22
Species: Scolopendra gigantea (Amazonian giant centipede) and maybe a splice of something else.
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 160 lbs
Appearance: Verana can be described as Slenderman-like. Verana is every lanky and very pale from his little time in the sunlight and very thin from his eating habits. His hair is a little past his shoulders and a dark black and often messy, looking like he hasn't combed his hair at all. Because of his thin frame, he's often seen in jackets and jeans.
Special Needs: Verana suffers from depression and takes medication to keep his mood up enough to actually be social.
Strengths: Crafty-Verana is very good with his hands in terms of carving wood and bone. Most of the time he's carving things for sale like charms and drinking horns. Fast learner-Verana tends to pick up on things fairly quickly.
Weaknesses: Depression-Veranas's mood tends to take a dive most of the time and this keeps him from socializing when off said medication. Phobias- verana's phobia of critters, mainly spiders and Centipedes) can throw him into a nervous breakdown. Social exhaustion- Verana's energy seems to drain more when he is in social situations for an extended period of time. He also becomes irritable when denied a chance to recharge himself with alone time.
Career: Crafter in glass and wood carving
Weapons: Pocket knife.
Personality: Verana, though he prefers to be called Varin is at his core an introvert. He is most comfortable being in a small group or on his own. He is a quiet sort, prefering to work on his craft and read a book rather than talk to a crowd of people. Most of the time, he's content with just watching everyone, listening to a conversation and working in private. However, this has taken a bit of a toll on his social life and caused a harsh decline on his mood, at one point contemplating suicide (more on that in history), making him look like he's been up all night with tears and angry at the same time. He also has a tendency to look like he's irritated most times. In actuality, it's just a case of RBF. (Resting bitch face)
History: Verana was born in Miami, Florida and raised in the city of Portland, Oregon. As a child, he was always the one on the outskirts of social groups. the one always content to watch people and study them from a far. He was the kid that at school, people would say would be the one to be on a rampage. His interests in reading horror and sci-fi novels didn't help his case either. For the most part, however, he had a rather normal up bringing for a child shut in. His mother dotted on him and often tried to get him to make friends while his father was something of a lovable douche bag: always bursting his bubble but always loving about it. His childhood was something of a bit of a blur. High school years being the hardest on him in terms of friend making as his small group of friends split off from each other. This caused him to engulf himself into his hobbies, often finding himself carving hunks of wood into various art pieces and things he continued to use. However, The constant remarks of being a shut in and hermit started to get to him, eventually leaving him to being completely alone in school. It was only after high school were things started to take a turn for the better, even with a case of crippling depression. His wood carvings and interest in glass working paid well enough to keep a small apartment and rent a studio and he has gained a small circle of friends. However his depression started to become darker and darker as his medication started to not effect him anymore. To cheer him up, his friends invited him to go on a cruise with him, but not even that help as he soon found himself even more alone. Not being able to take it anymore, he threw himself overboard hoping to end the pain and his life. Waking up in a white room and with a sore arm, he found himself saved from drowning but brought into something else entirely...

Light...harsh light...This wasn't the open sea that Verana had known. The heaviness was tantamount to what he had felt hitting the water off of a cruise liner in an attempt to take his own life. His eyelids took a while to open, though the rest of him didn't respond right away either. The smell...by gods the smell was like a hospital room. It unnerved him, something was very wrong here. If only the rest of his body would work.

He sighed, moving his head slightly to look at his left arm. It felt sore, like something had stabbed him in the arm. The thought of he might had scratched himself on the rocks on whatever coastline there was here, but wouldn't there be more bandages on his arm? That and his clothes would have been more scratched up. Verana started to shift his body back and forth, started to get feeling back in his extremities and soon rolled himself into a sitting position on the edge of the bed. He put his head on his knees, a headache starting to come on.

Along with the pain in his head, another sinking feeling rolled over him. Where ever he was, there was no going back. Jumping from the balcony of his room on the ship that night ensured he was never going home or at the very least going to make a hard time of it. The watery feeling of tears rolling down his face at this realization. The gods may be merciful, but this was the worst way to show it in his mind.

The sterile hospital smell was starting to get to Varin. Along with the numbing feeling starting to fade, Varin wanted out. And now. He looked down at himself, his clothing was still the same, though not as sea-salt smelling as he would have thought. Many thoughts started to run through his head. What was he doing here? Why was he here? What was this place for? Nevermind the fact that he spied a stack of folded clothes on a chair in the corner. It made him wonder what else they did while he was unconscious.

Varin steadied himself on his feet, the cold floor feeling more harsh on his feet than it should. The room looked more like a small appartment if anything but still made him feel uneasy. He peeked out of the door, half leaning on it and half looking out for any sort of life here. Alas, the hall was as empty and cold as his room. Other than the two that he saw already in that fall. His mental note of neither of them looking like staff at all. One a millitary man and the other...he couldn't much tell what he was.

For the moment, he decided to keep to himself for a bit. Watch them to see what they would do and hope that they didn't notice him. The last thing he wanted was to be attacked by either one of them for no reason.

Panic began to subdue him. How far was the bed from the ground? Crombie wondered. Where was his White Cane? And ultimately, the question of Where am I? seemed to linger with him, unable to shake the rising feeling of anxiety. These were certainly not his clothes, and he felt uncomfortable. His throat was tight and he was tense, but the warmth of the bed contrasted with the cool air was inviting him to lay for a little while longer. No -- he was determined to figure out where he was.

He hesitated, willing himself to venture out of the bed. Maybe he should just wait for someone to come around, but this could leave him waiting for God knows how long. He clenched and unclenched his fist then allowed his fingers to run over the bed, feeling his way to the edge so he could get up safely. He coughed purposefully, getting a sense of the room around him, there were no open doors from what he could tell and it wasn't as small as he had imagined.

Crombie finally had the courage to stand, catching his balance quickly and slowly edging his way to where he assumed the wall would be, and it wasn't long after that he found it. He kept one hand on the cold smooth wall and followed it looking for something, anything, though a door would be in his best interest. But instead, he tripped over a chair, catching himself on a nearby counter top. The chair had a bundle of something on it -- clothing! His clothing. He appeared to be wearing some sort of gown, a patient's gown. Yet another sign provoking him to believe he was in a hospital. Hell, they had undressed him! Whoever "they" might be. He slipped the gown off, finding the bed where he'd sit down to dress slowly, trying to figure out what went where. Though he couldn't see it, the clothes were all in his normal dark colors, black pants, and a dark charcoal shirt that hung loosely around his shoulders. He preferred black since at this point he had no idea what colours looked good on him.

After doing so, he stood once more then continued his search for his White Cane or a door, either would be of great use. He searched for the wall then followed it slowly, one arm out in front of him to prevent possible collisions. Luckily, he discovered and outlining of what felt to be an exit. Grasping the handle he pressed it open slowly, still minding where he stood. Crombie popped his out and listened for what seemed to be foot steps and voices

"Hello?" He finally called. "Is anyone there?" Crombie paused a moment longer then added, "I need some help."

Sophia came back around when she heard voices outside the door she had overlooked. She set her feet on the floor again and squeaked at the cold then quickly weaved her way over to the chair and plopped. She then sat there a moment to let the blackness that had covered her sight fade before she reached for her boots, and the neatly folded socks set atop them. She noticed though that they were not her original socks, but were clean and crisp and totally without blemish white. The socks were also perfect for her foot and shoe type. "At least they got something right." She mumbled. Putting on her boots, she made sure the laces were tied extra tight, she didn't know when she'd get the chance to tighten them up again.

Walking out of her room she noticed the four men, one leaning against a door frame to her right, two talking with one another past the first guy, and one who looked totally lost to her left. Well, there's obviously a wide range of people here. She thought, she was also contemplating going over, but started noticing other things about the last guy. He seemed to be blind, and that worried her greatly. Walking over to the Crombie she stopped at the edge of his door careful to make her steps loud enough to be heard, but not so loud as to make it sound like stomping. "Hello, I'm Sophia, and your name is?" She asked him quietly.

Crombie seemed startled by the sudden footsteps approaching him, but was relieved when he heard the soothing voice of a women close by. She felt about his height, but something about her made him assume she was younger.

"Hi," he said with a brief pause looking in her general direction as she introduced herself. "My name is Cr-Crombie." He was unusually nervous. "Do -- Do you know where I am? Do you work here?" She didn't seem like it, but it was worth asking. There was something creepy and stranded about this place.

Crombie folded his hands together anxiously, glancing around as if he could see, but it was only out of habit. His shoulders fell as he tried focus on what he needed at the moment. He sighed. "I dropped my cane somewhere in there," he spoke with an indignant tone and pointed behind himself with his thumb, his other hand rubbing his face in an exhausted sort of way. "Could you help me find it?" Francis slid out of the way of the door as if to invite her in. Crombie had assumed he'd, or whoever, dropped it somewhere by where his clothes might have been.

He wondered if he should have made the bed or something, but after all, he didn't know where he was or who brought him here, so the politeness factor was almost totally gone towards this empty hospital. He looked in the direction of the other voices for a moment, then turned back to the room.

"Thank you," Crombie articulated, sticking close to the walls. He would have helped Sophia in the search but at this point he was just afraid he'd stumble again.

Crombie sighed again, uneasy about all of this. "It's fine," he stated. "I'll just be careful." He turned himself around slowly. Holding the edge of the door and guiding himself into the hall where he stood for a moment. He could feel the change in lighting, the lights were brighter out here. He heard the previous voices again, from down the hall. Two men. Soon he heard another body not far away. His bright green and glazed over eyes drawn towards the possible directions the new sound could have been coming from.

"Do you know where we are?" Asked the voice.

Crombie wondered if the man was talking to him. "I seem to be asking myself that a lot lately," he muttered, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and pushing his hair out of the face, another simple, but common habit of his.

The fear within him still remained, though, it was much more faded than before, providing some sort of momentary relief. He felt the presence of Sophia soon join him again, and at this point he was unsure of what to do, of course, he probably looked like an idiot while contemplating this decision because he was still clinging to the wall as if taking a single step forward would lead to his certain demise. In total honesty he just didn't want to loose track of where he was.

He listened to the voices not to far away, trying to decide the length of the hall in relative to where he stood now. For some odd reason, there was unquestionable anxiety that along with moving, especially without his White Cane. Deep breaths. He removed himself from the wall.

“Running the show son?” Cadmus had already noticed he was still wearing most of his military regalia, which he knew better than anyone always made people act a little strange around him. There was no doubting Cadmus had an heir of authority about him. “Didn’t you know? I’m the god damn opening act!” Being mostly sarcastic, he gripped Kyle’s shoulder, sighing only in light of the fact that he didn’t have all the answers this time. “To be honest kid, I don’t know where we are. I woke up in one of these rooms just like you. I’ve never seen this place before in my life.”

Taking notice of a man (Crombie) and woman (Sophia), he rubbed the corner of his eyes before grunting, clearing his throat. “Alright, LISTEN UP!” Pausing only to ensure he had their attention, he smiled, folding his hands behind his back as he began to slowly pace along the hall. “My name is Colonel Cadmus Elijah Kavanagh. I am a soldier with the United States Marines. Unfortunately, I have no indication of where we are, or why any of us are here. I’d like to figure the possibility of all of us having been quarantined because if you look around, you’re going to notice that we’re the only ones on this floor. There are no guards, no doctors, and plenty of surveillance. Evidently we have no way to communicate to the outside world, and even if we did, we still don’t know where we are.”

He needed to “rally the troops” and raise the morale the best he knew how. This wasn’t something he could manage on his own, and keeping everyone calm was his first prerogative. “Staying here is not an option under the circumstances. But the enemy has no face. And, I don’t know about you, but I’m anxious to give it one.” It was then he stopped, Cadmus having just noticed the elevator at the end of the hall. He only hoped it was operational.

Sophia stood when she heard Cabmus. Oh my, here we go. She thought as she walked out of Crombie's room while keeping an eye on his progress, there was no way she'd leave him without some sort of cane for long. The moment she stepped out of the room though she almost ran into Cabmus. Sophia listened though to his little, though overly loud, speech, and pondered the kind of people that were there. So, we have Mr. Marine, Crombie the Blind, some random guy, and myself. This should be interesting.

"You needn't yell, Sir, the sound echo's enough without any help." She said walking up behind him to see what he was staring at. To her surprise it was an elevator, but something seemed off about it. From where she stood the tile pattern looked different starting about five feet from the door, and the lines matched up with the sides of the door. "And someone did a really bad tile job." She muttered under her breath.

Varin sighed, keeping his head down as he started to wander about in an effort to get he feeling back in his legs. The feeling of pins an needles was starting to get on his nerves. Through the ocean that was his thoughts, a storm of negativity crossed his mind. It felt like a mental asylum here. And the pain in his arm didn't help the thought of it either. He twitched his head a bit, feeling the crick of stiffness. Though this stiffness made worse by his instictive head jerk upon hearing the sargent's rally.

Oh how he hated the loud ones. People who where loud naturally annoyed him to the core. However, this seemed more like a call to arms if anything else. "I doubt the hospitality is any better than being dragged out of the sea. Besides, it feels closterphobic in here. Like my skin's getting to tight for me." He said as he looked on the other end of the hall. He didn't see anything in particular, but something was telling him that something was there.

He walked slowly down the hall, looking from left to right, looking for anything that look like a door to the outside. It felt like something was on his head, twitching or trying to feel around as if he couldn't see himself. He muttered to himself, something about wondering if anything was even right anymore.

As he turned the corner, he felt a presence...and then a sence of fear that he hadn't felt since he was a child. In there was something there...something that looked like a shaggy man-bull. A minotaur from the greek myths that he read from time to time. His face paled from this and cause him to turn on his heel right back into the more populated hall in a cold sweat. "D-d-don't go down that hall. Just don't." he said as quickly as he walked past everyone in terror.

OOC: Taurus is upstairs on the ground floor Kyuu.

"Most of them are up now." One of the guards murmured as he leisurely sat back with a cup of coffee using the security console as a footrest. He was dressed in a gray uniform with a pistol armed with tranquilizers at his hip along with a heavy baton meant for a more forceful approach to riot control.

The scientist that sat behind him in a considerably more comfortable looking chair stood and walked over to peer at the cameras. "Notify Taurus and open the elevators, it's time to let them out."

"You sure it's a good idea to let them see him first? They'll probably freak out and attack him."

"He can handle it, and it'll get an important lesson through if they're stupid enough to do so. Especially if he manages to subdue Cadmus. He may not be a problem now but chances are he'll figure out how to be and it'd be better if he's forced to understand that he belongs to us now." The scientist straightened up and crossed his arms. The security guard flipped the switch to activate the elevator and down in the lower levels it whirred to life. The small group would hear that and notice the elevator doors where sliding open seemingly just for them. With no controls, just a key hole. Tranquil elevator music played tauntingly at them with smooth jazz that echoed across the tile as the up arrow blinked invitingly.

"It's risky though. Taurus isn't exactly stable....he could kill them." The guard murmured

"That's why he wears the collar, Jim."

Jim pressed the call button on his walkie. "Taurus, they're headed your way."

Taurus grunted and took his spot in front of the bench between the two glass doors leading to the outside. He stood there and waited, hunched, and with his tail swaying from side to side.

The shout sent Crombie pressing himself harder against the wall than before. Spooked by the echoes, which rang loudly in his sensitive ears, he found himself unable to find the source of the sound. Looking left then right then left again. Soon the voice grew quieter (maybe not-as-loud would be a better description) and he found that it was one of the men who'd be conversing earlier. He had a certainly authoritative sound to him so it wasn't hard to believe he was a colonel.

Crombie edged forward again, towards the other voices. He listened to his own footsteps and those around him, cautiously dragging his hand across the wall. He was certain the worry was clear on his face.

"Staying here is not an option under the circumstances." Francis frowned. Where were they going? Where could they possibly go!

Listening closely, he tried to pick out and count how many people were in the room, but there were just too many. His head ached and longed for some sort of clarity surrounding all of this. Crombie rubbed his face again. "Damn this," he muttered covering his eyes with his hand in an attempt to calm himself a little more. He was much paler than before, just praying something good might come of this, though he would doubt himself a little more as each minute passed.

His mind frayed around the edges, trying to make sense of what was happening. The colonel continued to speak, other mentioning an elevator, but Crombie didn't want to move, he stood and listened, awkwardly moving his head towards where most of the others occupied.

Something happened. The big mouthed militant was muttering something when the elevator opened abruptly, and he seemed to have gone in. Did anyone else go? How many others were left? Why did he leave?

Bruce straightened up some when the elevator doors opened, or as much as he could with his hunched body, he huffed and sized Cadmus up with his big doe eyes. To be honest he wasn't sure what he had to do now. He was told to meet the subjects but nothing beyond that. His vocal cords and sinuses had been altered completely so even if he was able to form a string of words into a sentence he wouldn't be physically able to do much but let out a baleful mooing sound. He moistened his lips, a mere habit from his human form and used one deformed hand to point to the word security patched to his long gray shorts, his only article of clothing due to his sheer size and the degree of his deformity.

Down several floors the scientist, now joined by several others and some curious doctors crowded around the security screens watching the confrontation. The head scientist pulled a microphone to access the intercom. He pressed the button and his voice echoed through the halls.

"Welcome, subjects, to your new home. Those of you who have volunteered for a position at our lab we thank you kindly for your contribution as well as those of you who where acquired through less than willful means. The beast you see before you is Taurus, formerly Bruce Fryler and he will be the iron fist you will face should you disobey and become unruly. We have but a few simple rules for you to follow. Do not kill each other, do not attempt to escape, and DO NOT harm the people working here. The entire island is your backyard and the living quarters you have previously seen are yours to take advantage of. Think of it as an impromptu vacation that will last indefinitely. We do hope you enjoy your stay."

The transmission ended with a click and the scientists chuckled and cheered as the first stage of the experiment went off. A bottle of champagne was opened and they took a short break before resuming their research. The one security guard in charge of that cluster of cameras turned to the scientist. "Should we warn them about the other subjects....the....you know..."

"No. Leave some of the fun to chance at least."

Sophia froze at the sight of Taurus, and she was dumbfounded as to how this had happened to the poor man. She stood there looking around Cabmus, with all comments or plans she had gone, disappearing like a leaf in a storm. She silently stepped around the Cabmus and took a full look at the creature. What happened to him? She wondered, piecing words and pictures together in her head slowly.

She walked right up to Taurus and looked him over, almost touching him at one point to feel the fur covering part of him, but didn't because she was unsure how the creature would respond. As she continued looking, and wishing she could touch, she remembered Crombie. "Could someone see how Crombie's faring? And maybe help him out?" She asked absently, finely looking up to Taurus's head.

Sophia almost dropped to the floor, seeing the transformation of the face sent her into thinking about the pain and suffering it must have cost. "Oh my," She whispered before collecting herself again. "Bring that head of yours down here, I want to see those horns." She looked up at him her voice stern, daring Taurus to ignore her.

OOC: Thanks, Maestro, that's the plan. Originally he was supposed to have his cane but something happened with Sophia and it wasn't obvious.

Since Crombie was totally in that elevator, he had stepped out nervously, listening to the reactions of the others around him. He was clearly confused. "What's going on?" He asked softly, they were all speaking of a bull -- a beast. That couldn't possibly be true, but even he heard the sound of an animal nearby. An intercom came on with static and a voice explained the arrangement. This had to be some sort of cruel joke.

Wait?...Formerly Bruce Fryler?

Everyone was panicking, screaming and shouting at the nothingness, but he was just in denial. "Could someone please explain to me what's happening!" Said Crombie, finally speaking up. "What is it? Is it an animal?" There was a whine in his voice. He wanted to know what it was -- what was happening, but absolutely no one was making any sense! He was just hearing bits and pieces, half a picture.

As if that wasn't enough, the panic and emotion of everyone around him was really starting to drive him insane. He could feel the tension and alpha instinct of the colonel, which got to him the most. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Would you stop referring to us as soldiers! I can't speak for the others, but I am not a soldier," he said coldly, staring oddly of to the side of where he assumed Cadmus was. "Sure I have a disability, but I've been able to take care of myself for the last decade of my life, even without my cane, don't speak to me as though I'm a child." He was really on edge and he need to sit down, but for now, he frowned and held his tongue.

Something happened the bull-thing was upset, and Crombie was, once more, utterly confused and flustered.

OOC: Well sorry... when reading I got the impression that the only items left for each of the characters was the cloths on their bods. But we'll get something figured out ^^

Sophia was about to fire back a reply to Cabmus, but instead let out a low pitched squeal as she was shoved aside by Taurus and smacked the wall. "You big lug, watch what your doing." She grumbled checking herself over before standing and seeing the aftermath. When she saw that Taurus had punched Cabmus, she worried about what might have been broken, but then she saw Taurus fall and writhe in pain. "Sorry Cabmus, you kinda deserved that one, considering I was even tempted to punch you for your comment." Sophia didn't go near Taurus again though, self preservation over ruled how much she wanted to help him.

Skirting around Taurus, Sophia went over Cabmus. "Well Crombie, um, ya, I guess it is some sort of animal, though I'm not sure how a full human changed to what ever this creature is. And I think Cabmus here is just reverting to old habits." She said still inching her way along the wall and fear lacing her voice. Now she was scared, and she wasn't sure what to do, but she called on her nursing skills as she made it to Cabmus. "Well, Sir, um, ah." Sophia froze, her mind totally blank as for what to do.

This place. This place was a hell that Varin didn't know how he was going to get out of or even if he could get out of it. He had gone back to the room that he had awoken in. The food wasn't as...good as he had hope, but there was no time to complain here. If anything there had to be a way outside and back home. At the very least they were feeding, but something in his mind was nagging him that something was wrong. Something that he couldn't place at the moment, but something very wrong.

He scarfed down the food as fast as he could before slipping out of his room again. It seemed that everyone had started to acclamate to this place at least somewhat, though he had yet to feel any safer here than he had with himself at the edge of the cruseliner. That being said, he made himself look small, slipping away from everyone for not wanting to encounter anyone with any questions. However, the fact of the matter was that his mind was racing faster than he could walk.

He leaned against the wall, feeling his own energy sap away from him, but wander the halls he did. Varin's vision started to blur, his body going on auto pilot as he went on. Part him searching for something that would reveal anything about this place.

There is nothing quite like the threat of an early, violent death to make you wake up and take notice. The impact of the hulking creature's fists against the elevator door were enough to snap the panicked mechanic out of his reverie. He managed to pull himself together, hefting his makeshift weapon in anticipation of arrival on the other floor. If there were more lab experiments waiting for them downstairs, he'd try to give a good accounting of himself.

"Okay, Crombie," he hissed. "There might be more of these things, or even a back stairwell we don't know about, so be on your guard. There's no telling what we might run into down here."

The blind man's expression made it clear that there was some sort of communicational breakdown, but Kyle was not in a particularly observant mood. The elevator ground to a stop, and the doors hissed open with a soft 'ding'.

Leaving Crombie in place like so much baggage, Ruck surged forward, aluminum rod raised, nearly colliding with another man, wandering the hall half in a daze.

"Shit! Sorry," he grunted, fumbling to put the newcomer at arm's length. "Easy now." He lowered his weapon, but kept it at the ready, just in case. "Are you with them?" he asked cautiously, alluding, perhaps obtusely, to their unseen captors. "Where'd you come from?"

Varin's daze lead him to different halls as voices of the own thought process ran amuck trying to make sense of a seemingly greivous situation. His eyes looked glazed over, his walking slow but deliberate as his body seemed to wave back and forth a bit as if looking for something.

Or in the case of nearly being bumped into, someone. "Wha?" He snapped out of his daze to see a male in front of him with a metal rod in his hand and two other people with him. He raised his arms in defense, avoiding eye contact with them. "I'm unarmed. I'm no bull if that's what you're asking me." he said in a matter of fact tone. He was already sick of this place already, and the fact that the others were already taking up arms was something that distressed him if not only for is own safety. Right now, he only really wanted his own hole in the wall to hide out in. "I'm only trying to find my way out of here. At the very least, this hospital air is making me woozy."

Varin's eyes darted from person to person, picking up small details that he might need later if at all. He was a tad observant, preferring to watch them from a distance than walk up to them. He sighed slightly, it wasn't like he had a choose in the matter at the moment.

Crombie stood up straight after a moment, assuring himself that this must have been an elaborate joke, though all reason told him there was no escape. It had to be a trick, a cruel one, but the half-human-half-bull? Experimenting? This was crap you heard on the X-Files.

Could Kyle be right about this? Could there be more monsters lurking around? This was absolutely ridiculous.

The elevator doors opened and without warning, Kyle took off. "Wait-!" Crombie called after him, but Kyle was too far ahead. He forced himself out of the elevator trying not to cling to the walls, but he really had no choice. He listened for footsteps, Kyle had stopped somewhere in front of him along with another person. Briefly the other voice could be heard.

Crombie hung onto the patch of wall beside the elevator. Waiting patiently and nervously for more voices, something he could follow.

"Oh......Oh dear...." Connor carefully made his way through the halls a pile of manilla binders and boxes full of chemistry equipment. His small frame glided swiftly as he rushed to get to the elevator before it all tumbled out of his grasp. His glasses where askew and threatening to fall off his face.

It was his first day back on the island since his several week break. He had been visiting with his brothers and catching up on the more key lab assignments he had to do for the current semester. He was glad to be back. The work there simply seemed more like home to him, surrounded by complex problems, beakers full of chemicals, binders full of equations and genetic information.

"Uff...." Connor had gotten to the elevator and just managed to mash the down arrow with his elbow. Unfortunately this caused the items to gradually slip in his hands. He used his knee to adjust the pile in his arms and beakers clinked ominously as the pile swayed. The elevator door closed suddenly behind Crombie as it was called back up to the ground floor. He shuffled into the elevator, sideways. He couldn't see the buttons let alone see what he was pressing with his elbow. He'd mashed the button for the second floor, the floor where the dormitories where. Where the experiments where living and searching for a hint for escape. The top box full of glass beakers slid and mashed against face, squashing his nose painfully and knocking off his glasses. They clattered to the floor and Connor cussed under his breath. "Oh.....crap."

The door opened to the three in the hall revealing his small disheveled form.
