ยง . d e s c r i p t i o n . Cass wasn't always as pretty as she is now. As a child, she was quite unkempt and boyish. During some of middle school, around puberty time, she suffered the planet's most intense and horrific acne (or so she thought so). Not to mention that she also had braces for most of her high school years. Somewhere around her freshman year, she just really came into her own. She's always been a bit on the shorter side, but she's also softly feminine and has a rather gentle appearance. Cass' most striking feature is her lips, as they are thick and she's taken a lot of pleasure in highlighting them in bold hues. She's always had thick dark hair that runs down her lower back, and she prefers to let it air dry naturally. Make-up isn't exactly something second-nature to her, so popping on a bold lip color with a dash of eyeliner and mascara is enough for her.
Cassidy's sense of style is just easy. There really aren't many words used to describe it, but she likes things that are comfortable. Whether or not they show skin isn't an issue for her, but it is hard to dress herself up when she's spent all her life playing the ugly girl role. She prefers natural earthy hues, a pair of high wasted jeans in various washes, and flats. One could say that her style has a rather humble sense of fashion entwined with her inner nerd that loves science, a comfortable t-shirt with something witty half the school could never guess and topped with a pair of colorful glasses. Whoever said that living the geek life meant one could not be pretty as well as never met Cassidy Jones. Some at school might think it is a shame she doesn't dress her natural beauty to its best self, but she's not interested in other people's opinions.

ยง . d e m e a n o r . Quiet, Reserved, Curious
ยง . f e a r s . Cass is afraid of sleeping in a really dark room, scared that she might be going insane, and has a real fear of initiating conversations with boys she might be crushing on. Last, but not least, she's deathly afraid of the woods. Deathly.
ยง . v i c e ( s) . Adderall that she steals from her mother to help keep herself awake while she takes AP courses and college courses at the Community College.
ยง . d i s l i k e s . Hateful and/or ignorant people, in whatever form that ignorance might come from. She doesn't like soda because it makes her stomach hurt, and she really, really hates what she thinks is some conspiracy in the police force.
ยง . l i k e s . What she loves the most is getting up early, opening up her day outside with a couple of minutes of soothing meditation, writing down her goals, and preparing herself for the day. She likes a hot cup of coffee whilst huddling up to a good book, and long quiet walks in the neighborhood by herself to reflect and probably listen to a podcast or audiobook.
ยง . f l a w s . Work-a-holic, too ambitious, takes on more than she can chew, narrow focus on education
ยง . s t r e n g t h s . Intellectual, unreasonably high IQ, amibitous, self-regulated, self-starter
ยง . i n t e l l i g e n c e . Cass has a high IQ. She is beyond a 4.0 student, taking AP classes and some Community College classes as a Senior in high school. She's well-loved by her teachers, but they feel like she needs to take it a bit easier and live her life.
ยง . p e r s o n a l i t y . Cassidy is an extremely smart girl that has always excelled at school. Her teachers tend to love her because she has a lot of self-motivation to do things the right way, but most of the students could do without. She's a quiet one with her eyes on school and, once in high school, a part-time job to help save up for college. To be frank, she's never had much of a social life, especially after Abigail's death caused her once friendly circle to completely melt away. She holds a lot of things close to her chest, and while kids might call her a rich snob and a brainiac, something else goes on behind closed doors at home that makes her feel ashamed. She's skittish around boys, and she doesn't like to talk about her home life very often.
She sees the world differently than others do, too. There are patterns to things, logic, numbers. Everything has an explanation that can easily be found rooted in some sort of science or mathematics. She can be a nice girl or she can be mean. Her emotions are volatile, even though she knows that acting out emotionally is something only illogical people do (in her mind). For one reason or another, she's always seeking out the school counselor, and her father ended up in jail around her junior year. Since then, she's felt... a little freer to be herself, to talk and to be a little social. Still, she's as asocial as they come. Maybe she's not ready to open up to anyone yet.

. A B I L I T I E S .
ยง . s t r e n g t h s . Math, rote memory, impeccable penmanship
ยง . w e a k n e s s . Physically weak, kind of clumsy, cannot believe in what can't be seen
ยง . p h y s i c a lx c o n d i t i o n i n g . She's thin, but that's predominately due to genetics and a decent diet. However, she is not strong at all.
ยง Whilst Cass is not physically capable of harm, not even to a fly, she can use her intellect to contend with others. It's not that she thinks she's intellectually superior to most of her peers, it's that she knows she is. A few students will often pick on her about being a human calculator and her knack for rote memory, calling her a robot and making stupid robotic gestures and noises when she walks down the hallway. Though none of it makes sense to her, they are not entirely wrong about her being a mathematical wiz. The fact that she can remember things is a gift. She doesn't have an eidetic memory or anything like that, she just works her ass off. She also has this strange uncanny ability to recall events, especially traumatic ones. Her mother often says that Cass can remember things from a very young age, something that most people cannot. They are not always accurate in detail, but she does remember that certain things happened at certain points in her life.

However, their childhood seemed to find an abrupt end when Abigail died. It was a typical day, but it would end in something that Cassidy could not fathom. It could not be explained away by science or math or anything at all. She couldn't believe anything that her eyes saw, if they saw anything at all. When she tried to explain things, she ran her mouth off in a verbal maze of crazy and her mother and father wrote it off as petty child imagination. She'd never speak of it again because she, too, began to believe that she was just a silly kid. After all, she always believed her parents.
Then she had no friends anymore because her parents didn't want her to hang out with these crazy kids that could conjure such insane stories. So, she went back to her quiet life of academia, extracurriculars, and whatever else her parents had in store for her. It wasn't until she went to high school that things at home became something of a nightmare. Her father took a rather special interest in her, and maybe he always had-now that she thinks about it. He loved to keep her inside, to be around her, and she knew that he was peeking when he should not. But this was her father, and no one would believe her anyway, so she allowed his transgressions to continue, and it took her mother finding something on a computer during Cassidy's junior year that the police were called. Her father was hauled off to jail, but no one would speak of it. No one would know why. They just assumed that it was fraud or something. Cassidy spent a lot of time with the school counselor to work through things.
She took up a part-time job as a local pet store because the animals gave her a strange sense of calm. She worked the register, groomed and washed cats and dogs, and helped with the stocking. Anything that she could do to get her mind off of things, she did. She often stayed late at work, offering to close the store so that she would be home by the time her mother was in bed. It was hard to look her in the eyes. It was hard to look at anyone.
Now it is her senior year, and old faces return. Old memories do, too, for she has never forgotten what happened when they were eight years old. She feels a little rattled and uneasy. There is also the face of an old friend--a boy--that she finds herself crushing on. Yet, she knew that they were so far gone from one another; too estranged. It didn't make sense for them to be friends again. Or did it? Part of her wants to get to the bottom of the one question that has been driving her insane for the last four years. What happened to Abigail? What really happened?
