Dana can remember being described as a beauty since she was little. However, it usually always followed "Islamic or Muslim girl" as if her religion defined her appearance. Her face is round with a strong jawline. Her brown eyes are curved, with fluttering eyelashes. Dana's nose is straight with a slightly upturned nose. Her skin tone is naturally tan, and doesn't seem to get any darker despite her time in the sun. Her most prominent features are her eyebrows and freckles adorning her face. Her eyebrows are thick and bushy. Dana prefers to keep them natural and not plucked too regularly. Her freckles come and go depending on the lighting. They will either blend into her skin or too hard not to notice, never an in between. They scatter across her cheeks and nose. Her big lips have a slightly pout to them, but she is always smiling so you cannot tell. Dana is slender with a slight curve to her body. Running has kept her in shape, but she still has some fluff on her body.
Dana has received criticism from others for not wearing her hijab everyday. Her mother wanted her to choose whether or not to wear so she has chosen to wear it during religious holidays or community events. Some consider it mandatory for their faith while others it is a choice of whether to wear it or not. Dana's everyday look is a girly. She adores pastels and wearing bright colors. She likes wearing skirts and cute blouses and tops. Ballet flats are a must for her everyday outfit. She likes to keep her attire feminine looking and pretty. Her jewelry is kept simple and elegant, nothing too showy. Dana keeps her makeup looking natural. She sticks to complimentary colors for her face. She likes to keep to a tinted moisturizer, lip gloss, and mascara.

Shy and sweet, Dana prefers to stay in the background. Large groups are intimidating to her, preferring to stay with a small group of friends. Dana has always been sensitive to her environment, keeping an eye out for unsafe situations or people. She is overly cautious with unfamiliar people, but finds herself bouncing around from group to group. Dana enjoys being around others, looking out for those she feels need her help. She takes a maternal approach to many of her friendships. Dana keeps up to date on her friends and is always willing to lend a hand. She acts as a gentle guide, pointing you towards the right direction yet being ready to deal with the disappointing aftermath.
Dana has trouble setting up roots when it comes to making friends. She gives too much of herself to people, wanting to focus on the other person more than herself. Dana doesn't like to talk about herself in a deeper capacity. She chooses to keep things on the surface level, not wanting people to see the bad sides of herself. Dana wants people to depend on her versus her depending on other people. SHe will pull away when things start to get meaningful, because she doesn't want to invest in someone who could leave or let her down. Friends have become temporary for her recently so she treats it as such. You'll think you've found a best friend, but then she disappears, leaving you to guess what happened. When confronted with this, Dana will try to laugh it off or change the subject.
Despite the misfortunes in her life, Dana maintains altruistic outlook. The common good has always been something she's been passionate about. She still sees the world as a good place, wanting to believe the good outweighs the evil. Unfortunately, people tend to take advantage of that fact. She can be naive and not realize when she is being used by others. Dana wants to believe in people. She isn't the type to turn her back on someone who needs her, but will try to build them into someone who doesn't need her. She believes in people's capability to be good, and it stings when people turn out to be worse than what she thought.
Overall, Dana is a kind person with good intentions. She never wants to harm someone intentionally and tries her best to maintain peace within herself in others. She detests conflict and will do anything to avoid it. She wants everything to go smoothly, without conflict. Dana becomes easygoing if a conflict arises, choosing to stay to quit and keep balance. She will minimize anything upsetting to simplify the problem so it becomes easier to solve.

Years of running track has kept Dana fast and agile. She moves quickly and can outrun many of the teens her age. From her brothers to her friends, Dana is compassionate in nature. She has the urge to take care of people and will do whatever to help someone in need. Nothing can bring Dana down. She has retained her optimistic outlook despite her misfortunes and continues to see the world in a positive way. Her constant moves have left Dana adaptable to different situations. It is easy for her to change her tune to fit a new dynamic.
Many friends have teased Dana for being jumpy and easily frightened. She is prone to letting out a shriek and freezing up when in a scary situation. While she is a talented runner, Dana lacks any physical strength. She cannot defend herself from opponents. Her need to see the good in others has left Dana susceptible to manipulation. Dana can be quite imaginative, leaving the world often to retreat into her own mind. She gets distracted often.

Anxiety: Dana suffers from anxiety, the catalyst being coming back to Bosco. She takes medication to control it without her parents' knowledge. She gets triggered by stressful situations and isolation, either fleeing or freezing in the moment.
Separation: A fear and a secret, Dana's mother and father are separated with her father in Bosco and mother in Seattle. No one really knows why it happened, but Dana fears her parents may get divorced. Dana blames herself for it happening.
Attachment: Since Abigail's death, Dana has difficulty making meaningful connections with people. She's scared of a losing another friend so she maintains distance with people.
Blindness The idea of not being able to see terrifies Dana. She needs to know what's in front of and around her to function. Losing it would scare her.
Looking back, Dana can see how her parents getting together wasn't ideal. Her father came from immigrants from Saudi Arabia. Her mother was born and raised in the homeland. Their respective families had close ties and with the tension going on, it was decided that Kareem and Farha would wed to keep her safe. The two did care for each other, but Dana isn't certain if they ever loved each other. Kareem become a police officer, hoping to rise higher in ranks while Farha dedicated herself to her family. They settled into Bosco when Dana was six, along with her younger brother and soon to born siblings.
Being the new kid in town was very difficult for Dana, she was shy and quiet. She grew up speaking Arabic so communicating was difficult with her classmates, and she was one of the few Muslim families in Bosco. It was a lonely existence before she met Abigail. She approached Dana and declared the two of them would be best friends forever. Dana didn't believe the bold girl at that moment, but it didn't take long for Abigail to prove herself. Abigail was at her side always, defending her from bullies and helping her with English. Dana was nervous when the group began to grow, but Abigail still was her best friend.
Witnessing Abigail's death broke something within her. She couldn't comprehend what she saw and trying to explain what happened was met with disbelief. Her parents wanted to shield her from what happened and made the decision to leave a few days later. Dana didn't get the chance to say goodbye to any of her friends. The move was difficult. Dana had trouble adjusting to her new school and her mother had just had her twin brothers so she wasn't able to get the support she needed from her parents. They ended up moving again only two years later. They were constantly on the move, never staying anywhere to long.
Her parents struggled too. Kareem's career took up a lot of his time and Farha struggled with raising Dana and her four younger brothers. Dana took on a parental role to her brothers, wanting to help her parents who had begun to fight. The difficulties of always moving and worrying over Dana's well-being caused a strain in their marriage. Dana heard it all. It was her fault. When the Bosco police department asked him to come back, a salary raise and the chance for promotion within a year, Farha refused to return. Kareem chose to accept the job and the couple separated. He moved all the kids back to Bosco when Dana was fourteen, with Farha staying in Seattle. Her parents have been secretive about what the separation means, but Dana worries they may divorce.
Now back in Bosco, Dana felt constantly on edge. She would have panic attacks and feel overwhelmed by life. Her doctor diagnosed her with anxiety and due to Washington state law, her parents did not have to be informed of this or her prescription. Her oldest brother is suspicious, but most of her family is unaware of her diagnosis. Dana dedicates herself to her family, since her father's shifts make it difficult for him to be there.
Returning home is not what she expected. Dana attempted to connect back with her old friend group, but found many to be different from who they were before. No one is friends anymore. It broke her heart, but she doubted her ability to bring the group back together. Abigail was their glue. Dana went on with her life, floating between social groups. She even joined the track team to try and fit in. It didn't matter though. People still pick on her for being different and having no close friends to have her back made her an easy target. The memories of her friend have stayed with her. Dana knows she saw something that night and accepted what happened, not that anyone would believe her. It's her secret.
