Years of testing, poking, and prodding have turned a once happy young boy into an estranged, broken experiment. Being confined in the lab, with only 12 and the scientists for socializing, Thirteen is more than a little behind when it comes to social skills. However, through this he has become a very observant individual. Combined with someone's expression and body language he notices things that others might not.
Something that most don't see or overlook about Thirteen, is truly how vulnerable he is as a person. Underneath the steely and distant demeanor, he is one of the most kind, caring and passionate individuals. From being in the lab for seven years, he was shown that this was a point of weakness, nothing more. It doesn't mean that he doesn't enjoy feeling that type of way, he's just never truly learned how. Thirteen keeps this side of him locked up deep in his mind, but it occasionally resurfaces with the right people, especially Twelve. From this Thirteen became a very guarded individual. He is very selective when it comes to picking out friends or those he lets close to him.
More than anything Thirteen feels truly lost and alone. With nothing more than a number for a name, he is defeated. The first few years he was in the lab he tried desperately to grasp on to the memories he had, but now they're nothing more than a quiet whisper in the back of his mind.

â Throughout the years at the lab, Tree has unlocked a number of physic abilities after rigorous mental examination and testing. His most recurrent power, is the ability to move objects, people, creatures, etc with his mind. When amplified by his emotions, his telekinesis is strong enough to lift large and heavy objects. The most interesting and perhaps the very reason he is kept in the lab is his ability of Extrasensory Perception (ESP). While he is still discovering the full extent of this ability he has loosely been able to gain information through his mind rather than the physical senses. He has been able could recognize people from photos, and sense their current location as well as even possibly communicate with them through what he calls, 'the void'. This ability is far stronger when amplified by sensory deprivation.
Tree's abilities are somewhat linked to his emotional state, being at their strongest when influenced by his own anger and fear. Being in distressing situations could cause Thirteen to unleash his powers involuntarily. This was most likely how Tree reopened the Gate. Using his powers take a physical toll on his body. When using his powers to perform more menial tasks, Tree usually only suffers from nosebleeds, a loss of conscious, or even a seizure in extreme cases. When accomplishing more daunting tasks, however, he can become physically exhausted, often to the point where he'd be unable to walk.
