Any major events leading up to the present Marcy's father brutally beat, murdered, and buried her elder sister when she was six years old. Elizabeth had been twelve. She refused to take a lashing she felt was unjust, and so Papa beat her without thinking. He truly hadn't meant to kill her, but it had happened anyway. To hide it, he buried her in the fields beyond the city. Questions flared up, but everyone assumed she had run away. The search died out after a year or two. Marcy's mother is quiet now and hardly ever speaks. She and Marcy were still hit and threatened after Elizabeth's death, but they weren't as bad.
How you're connected to Andy, the Aurelio Family, or The Continental William Singleton owns the news stand/pool hall beside the Continental. Marcy's dates seem to take her there every time they go out. Marcy is dumbfounded by the Aurelio family and sometimes wishes she had their power and their pull with others, but she keeps that to herself.
