"Making my way downtown, walking fast
Faces pass and I'm home bound
Staring blankly ahead, just making my way
Making a way through the crowd...
And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by... ?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...
Tonight"

The music suddenly stopped as Stella got out, tuning the car off. She pulled the gas pump and put the nozzle in the gas tank. 29.99....39.99...$40, and stop. Stella took the nozzle out and closed the tank. Walking up to the gas station she pulled out her wallet.

Before giving the cashier the money she got herself a pop. Then she gave the cashier $43.50. She flashed a smile then walked out getting in her car and driving off. She still had 80 more miles before she reached Burns, Oregon. Stella turned the song back on and continued singing.

"It's always times like these when I think of you
And I wonder if you ever think of me...
'Cause everything's so wrong and I don't belong
Living in your precious me-mo-rys...

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by oh
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...
Tonight"

Cecila hummed as she tapped the wheel.
"Would you PLEASE stop doing that?" Kim groaned.
"Hey! I'm the driver here!"
"Ugh," She muttered.
Cecila grinned.
"When you can drive, you can't complain about me yelling at you!" Cecila grinned.
Kim sighed.
THe car made a loud creaking sound.
"What the-" Something hit the side of the car, making roll over.
"AHHH!" Cecila yelped. Kim was petrified. ONce the car stopped, Cecila opened the door and ran out.
"HOLY FrICK!"
Kim stumbled out of the upside-down car.
"You alright?"
Kim pointed to her knee and looked around. She put some ice on it.
Cecila stopped for a second.
Kim leaned back int a hotel bed. She grinned.
"I LOVE HOTELS!" She laughed.
"How's your knee?" Cecila asked.
"It healed. It only took a week,"

Cecila opened her eyes.
"Don't worry, it'll heal in a week,"
Kim sighed and waved her arms to passing cars.

Slowly moving down the dark streets of Burns, the demon, more precisely nightmare, that went by Dov moved as a silhouette. The way that he moved made him look like a shadow when one moved past the sun, changing position and angle, but never moving a single muscle.

He was rapidly changing between a colorless mass and his human form. He sought new prey, special prey. Something to haunt that was more rewarding than you average human. A small ripple in time had told him that many things that were not human would soon reach the town. From there, he could ruin their dreams, turning them into nightmares. The nightmares then created fear, the food of many 'harmless' demons. He was not like the others who fed on pain, suffering, anger, angst, death, and sorrow. No, instead he fed on fear, but only could he feed when his prey rested its fragile head.

So, the nightmare would wait, patrolling the city. The moment he would see something inhuman, he would lock on and hunt his prey.

The soft breeze of wind was blowing and flocks of birds could be seen traveling in V shape formations in the blue sky of day with silver lines of clouds, radiating with the sun's white rays. Leaning beside a crossover SUV, reading a magazine, was a man with short straight brown hair, strong complexion, and a stubble. Underneath his black cotton long sleeved buttoned shirt, black jeans, and black leather boots, was a lean athletic body. One could consider him attractive, but romance would be the last thing on his mind. Once in a while, he would glance at the road when an SUV pass by.

Today, Eric Meadows wasn't working alone his he usually does. He was working with Randolph Tombs, a rather chubby man which Eric finds a little odd and too interested in his books. The brown haired young man have no idea where his partner currently is but hopefully, a single radio contact would be enough to call Randolph. A minute later another SUV passed by. Inside, was a blue haired woman. Eric rolled the newspaper he was reading and hastily jumped in his crossover SUV. He reached for the walkie talkie, held it near his mouth, pressed a button on the sides of the device, and said, "She's here."

Cecila stood up and waved her arms too.
"HELP!" She cried out, waving her arms vigorously.
Kim sighed and sat down.
"It's no use, we're going to be stuck out here!" Her contact lens fell out.
"Put that back in before people see your eye" She hissed. Kim quickly popped it into her eye, making it appear a brown color.
"There. No one is going to stop unless we run out into the streets!" She complained.
"Do you want to test that theory out?" Cecila teased.
"NO!" Cecila smiled.
"Just kidding! Either way, we're going to have to get a ride!"
Kim sighed and lazily waved her arms.
"SOMEONE! Help us!" Kim waved her arms and groaned.
Cecila sighed and out her arms down.
"Never mind, this is useless,"
"TOLD YOU!" Kim cried out.
They sat down glumly.
"Hopefully some driver will care enough,"
"You wish," Kim sighed and laid down.

In the back room of the library, Randolph was reading a book on Greek mythology. He'd been contacted about a job to capture a Nymph. He found this odd. He'd read up on them in the past, not enough to know much about them, though. But from all he read, there wasn't anything particularly special about them. He was, on the other hand, reading to see if they would have any trouble. A call came over his CB. "Alright. I've been reading up and I found a few things I should talk to you about, some questions to ask in person. But other than that it looks pretty straight forward." There was one thing that bothered him. Nymphs were said to be able to, "Animate nature." But nothing went into what the restrictions, if any, of that were. Could they bring dead animals or plants back to life? Was it restricted to the type of Nymph they were?

But his mind came back to the same question. Why does someone want one? What could someone do with a live Nymph? There was nothing concrete about anything they were useful for to anyone but themselves. And on top of it all, not only was someone hired to catch her, he was being paid to research anything they needed help with. Usually, he helped out for fun or to be helpful. Sometimes he did field work for himself, but he couldn't remember ever getting paid before. It bothered him.

Stella was driving down the road, about miles to town when she saw a flipped car on the side of the road, and two girl sitting by the car. She hurriedly pulled over and jumped out of her car. "Oh my God! Are you two okay?" She asked rushing over to them to look over their scraps and bruises. She made her way over and got a strange sent of fire and rain. She brushed the thought away and looked at the two they both seemed okay.

"I'm fine, but Kim got her knee pretty banged up," Cecila took a deep breath.
Kim shrugged.
"It's fine now,"
Cecila sighed. She was suddenly hit by a vision. She shut her eyes.
She could see a semi-truck being driven by someone talking on a cellphone. She could see herself, Kim and the other girl right in front of it
Cecila opened her eyes.
"QUICK! MOVE OVER!" She grabbed the two by the arms and pulled them out of the way of the semi-truck as it went off road and plowed through where they were standing before.
KIm shuddered. Cecila gave her a warning glance. Kim tried to keep herself calm, but fire started to sprout from her hands.

Little did Cecila know, but her little vision was like a road map to Dov. Even day dreams could be detected by nightmares, as it was still a dream/vision. Through these the nightmares could find their prey, and visions felt different. Arcane even. That was exactly what Dov wanted.

Within minutes the nightmare made his way over to the group. His presence would feel malevolent, but not evil. Like a problem child who doesn't want to hurt people. This was the sort of feeling that those who could feel demons, well low level ones, would note.

For now, Dov remained part of the shadows, watching and waiting. One of them would have to dream soon, and then he could feed. This would be a good time for him, as he had been trying to fill himself on the dreams of the mundane. It was hardly anything compared to arcane beings.

Stella stared at Cecila with her mouth hanging open. Then she saw Kim's hands spring with fire. "Your not human?" Stella was shocked she has only known her clan. But they were all dead. Now she stood in front of two people who had supernatural abilities. Stella couldn't move or say anything. Simply stare, she didn't even notice the feeling of another being present.

Wyatt drove around in his pick-up truck. THe passenger side was littered with books and coffee cups.
He saw a semi drive off road. Angry, he stomped out of his car. HE suddenly saw Cecila on the side of the road.
"CECILA!" HE ran over to her, his eyes fuming.
"You shouldn't be out in the open like this! You are coming with me!" He demanded. Wyatt grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him.
She broke away. He clenched his teeth and held out his arm, making Cecila get slowly dragged towards him.

Galen sat at a dark bar. He nursed his Scotch whiskey on the rocks and looked around the room. It was dark, smokey even though no one was smoking. Probably the fog coming off Mahleur Lake. It helped complete the mood, the atmosphere of the place. It looked like the kind of place you went in right before you jumped off a bridge. There was a billiards table. There were two cues left and half the balls were missing, including the cue ball. The felt was worn and torn to the point where even if they had all the balls, it would be near impossible to play. The walls were stained from the years of smoking that had gone on. It had only been about two months since the state wide smoking ban was passed. You could still almost smell the tobacco in the air. The counter was stained, scratched and etched in to all the way from one end to the other. The dark, dull brown color scheme that seemed to be the resounding theme of the bar was enough to make anyone depressed. And to top it off, they didn't have anything else to liven up the place. No music, no games but the table, even the bottles all had dark liquids, no wines or light beers and they served pretzels as their bar food.

"I'll have one more and be off." Galen quickly downed the last of what he had and let the bartender refill it. The bartender was about the same age as Galen looked and had one of those faces. The ones that said, "I've seen a lot in my time and no matter who you think you are, I'm tougher and I don't want to hear it." He poured the whiskey over the ice and set the bottle back down under the bar. Galen took out his wallet and paid his dues. He thought about staying around for a while more. Maybe he would play a round of... something by himself on the table. Maybe see if he could make a ball jump the table by hitting a rough patch of felt. But he didn't feel like it. He didn't feel like anything. Maybe jumping off that bridge wouldn't be such a bad idea.

All of a sudden the old days hit him. When he was young, he'd go out dancing, drinking, flirting. He loved music and could become its slave if he wasn't careful. Oh, but it could be worth it. He used to spend all night dancing. Back in his days in Greece, at the balls of the Czars in Russia, debutante balls in the American south, tribal celebrations with natives from all around the world and more he couldn't even remember. He would party all night and the women would follow his every call. Then he would rest all the next day with whoever he chose. Whoever was the, "Lucky winner." But that was when he was young. He liked lively music. Graceful dances. Look at him now. Bill Nighy was probably more graceful than he was. He'd gotten old. If he tried to get out on the dance floor, he'd be a joke just because of how old he looked, regardless of anything else. That's what made him saddest. He'd never let himself really grow up and held to what he enjoyed in his youth. Now that was gone and what did he have? Nothing but a glass of scotch and not enough time.

He finished drinking and chewed up the ice. He said a standard farewell of some kind, he wasn't really paying attention, to the bartender, grabbed his hat and walked out the door. Suddenly a blinding light came from inside his head. Everything went white and his ears screeched. He stumbled, feeling his way along the wall into the nearest ally. No one thought anything of it. He'd just come out of the bar. Just another drunk. He sat down, soaking his clothes as he found the alley wet with... Something. He didn't want to guess what. He panted. The pain, noise and light all combined and made his heart race. What was going on? He closed his eyes and steadied his breathing. The screeching quieted, but did not go away. The pain was just as bad but his heart calmed. He nearly fell asleep. The only thing was he still had SOME pride. He didn't want to be one of those drunken men passersby either pity or look at disgusted that pass out in allies. No. He could still live with himself so far, he knew for he was still alive. But he didn't think he could if he looked like that. So he pushed himself. He sunk his hands into whatever he'd sat in that reeked in eight different ways. Hey pushed to raise himself up. He began to rise and everything just gave out. His body went limp and he fell, unconscious with his head on a discarded bag holding a half eaten fast food meal. It was probably the only thing that kept him from drowning in the filth.

Eric followed the green haired woman in the suv. It wasn't long until they passed a turned over car with, what Eric guessed was the owner of the vehicle, sitting beside the road.
"Shit," murmured the brown haired hunter when the SUV he was chasing slowed down and picked up the two hitchhikers.
If Eric was to stop his crossover SUV now, the fact that he was chasing the green haired girl in secret would be compromised. With not many choices to choose from, he drove passed her SUV and acted as if he wasn't pursuing her. A mile later, he stopped at the side of the road, reading a map and acted lost. It wasn't long until the green haired girl with the SUV passed by again, the two hitchhikers as her passengers. A minute later, another SUV appeared and blocked the green haired girl's vehicle. The drive got out and dragged the two passengers out. It surprised Eric. Confusion struck him. Stopping his SUV at the side of the road, he watched and studied what was occurring. He wasn't going to make a move unless he was sure what was happening. At that moment, he doesn't have a clue.

Before Eric could even feel the presence of Dov, a unique feeling of both hot and cold while also seeming to rapidly switch between reality and daydreams, the being was standing beside him. The cloaked figure, wearing a fire t-shirt and eyes with blood red pupils, began "Your little dream did not go as it was meant to, eh? Those unnatural types, their dreams, so delicious that they make the dreams of the mundane taste like wood. Oh, wait, you're a mortal." Dov said the 'oh, wait' and beyond part in a trailing manner.

As Dov stood there, letting the other being size him up, he thought. Appearing before a mortal. What a bad mistake. This could get right awkward.

In the driver seat of his crossover SUV, Eric's focus was on the vehicles and the people or creatures at the distant. Then, spoken words was heard from the passenger seat beside him. With his quick hunter's reflex, he pulled out his handgun from underneath his jacket and pointed it at the man, aimed at the head. For a minute, Eric's eyed the stranger, then he questioned with a cold nonchalant expression: "Who are you?"

Stella watched everything unfold before her. "What the..?" She questioned. She decided she tried to help, but so many supernaturals in one gathering was bound to be bad. Stella said goodbye to the two and the man dragging them away and headed four her SUV.

When Stella got into her vehicle she saw another vehicle sitting on the side of the road with two beings inside. She turned around looking forward and started her car. The two people looked like they were busy and Stella didn't want to get involved anymore than she already had. "Just drive, Stella." She told herself.

"My prey is dreams, but yours seems to be the beings that produce the best dreams." Dov spoke. Now he decided to show this human his powers. He began, "I exist for the same reason as you. I come to hunt, but a different part. However, unlike you, I am neither here nor there." Dov began to teleport among the seats of the SUV after he said neither.

When Dov moved back into the passenger seat, he said, "Look fast! You prey is mobile."

Eric remained silent but drew his gun back. His head did not move but his eyes followed where the man teleported. Frowning slightly, his grip on his gun tightened, ready to shoot. This was not Eric's first encounter with a creature that could teleport. For a long time, Eric has been hunting mysterious creatures such as him, so long as he is paid. By now, he was sure that the man was not human.
When the man moved back into the passenger seat, he said: "Look fast! You prey is mobile."
Eric snarled. He forgot about the green haired girl. Quickly turning his head forward, he noticed the SUV he was chasing was already far away. "You should get out now. I have no business with you," he said to the man and started to drive. Seeing that there is no longer a point in following the green haired girl, Eric accelerated his vehicle faster, drove pass her, and blocked her SUV with his in order to force her to break into a full stop. It was reckless but Eric was growing impatient.

"We hunt the same beast, but we seek different parts." Dov said, before disappearing into thin air with a puff of smoke. Or at least that was what humans would see. To those who are not human, nothing happened.

As the SUV began to accelerate, Dov held stiff. No human could see him, but that was the point. However, harder prey yields bigger rewards. The non-humans could see him no matter what he did, with his powers at least. To them, he was staring straight at Stella with the eyes of a hungry sin. Soon, when she slept next, Dov would be able to feed on something far better than anything else he had ever fed on.

Stella's eyes grew large and she slammed her foot on the break. "Are you flipping crazy?!" She yelled at the mystery SUV. She already knew why the SUV was in front of her. Stella sighed and decided she was going to go around. Unfortunately her vehicle was to big due to the massive car in front of her and barley any room to move on. She instead locked the door and grabbed a crow bar that was in the passenger seat. "Its okay. Everything will be okay" She said to herself.

"We hunt the same beast, but we seek different parts." said the strange man before disappearing into thin air with a puff of smoke.
Ignoring the man, Eric hastily got out of his vehicle and redirected the point of his handgun to the green haired girl. He noticed she had already put herself in a defensive position, but weak and unplanned which consist of her locking the doors of the SUV and holding a crowbar.
"Get out of the vehicle if you wanna live," said Eric, threatening her by gun point. He was ready to pull the trigger, but to the tires. It would be troublesome if she attempted to flee. Puncturing a tire or two would definitely render her vehicle unfit to drive.

They usually stayed in the shadows allowing Stella to run. She couldn't sing or dance her way out of the mess she unintentionally put herself in.
