Al had taken over the register so Janice was reading a magazine at the back of the store and snapping her gum while listening to the music playing over the speakers. She heard the bell to the store chim a couple times but didn’t bother checking to see what came in. It was only the afternoon so it wasn’t that busy she kept checking the clock that hung from the wall, her lunch break was coming up and she was going to meet some friends down by the beach. There was this great diner, Fat Jack’s, that became their hangout ever since high school, and by now they knew each other by name and knew what they wanted, even that they always sat in the corner booth by the window.
“Excuse me ma’am could you tell me about this album.” A man’s voice said snapping her out of her stare.
She turned her head quickly “hmm,” she said quickly analyzing the scene and looking down at the album cover “Buddha and the Chocolate Box?” she smirked “Not really my cup of tea dude. But, I could play it over the speakers if you want to check it out.”
The man seemed to be distracted by something and that’s when she noticed the two Montez henchman talking to Al. It was the 20th, Extortion day. Shit.
