"Make a contract with me, and become Magical Girls!"

a character in “Kalani Magica”, as played by ABC

Description

Yuubey
Basics
Name
Not much is known about the process by which an Incubator takes or is given a name, nor is it known if they even use them anywhere but Earth. All that we know for certain is that they all seem to end in "bey".

Nickname(s)
Yuubey is willing to answer to just about anything, so long as he knows that he's the one being spoken to.

Age
Unknown, particularly considering the possible Incubator hive mind, and the fact that he's been killed numerous times.

Gender
Physically sexless, though its comrades in countries whose languages require a gender-specific pronoun when referring to oneself seem to gravitate toward using masculine ones. Seeing as the most commonly used first-person pronoun in English is gender neutral, Yuubey has not run into this issue. Even so, it is still usually assumed by most to be male.

Sexuality
Even were that not already rendered inapplicable by both his non-gender and his species, it would still seem like an awful waste of energy.

Image
Appearance
Hair
N/A though he may have fur.

Eyes
Yuubey's red eyes are exactly to Incubator specifications. Exactly where this falls on a human scale is unclear.

Markings
Nothing extraordinary by their standards, but his rings and... whatever it is that's on his back might attract attention from the humans that he allows to see him.

Build
Yuubey is about the size and build of your average cat.

Clothes
Yuubey wears no clothing.

Accessories
None.

Weapons
Yuubey has no weapons, and it's unknown if his species ever even bothered to develop any.

Skills
Natural Skills
Yuubey is an Incubator, and has all the skills that you might expect from one. Contract making, telepathy, and possibly personal teleportation, just to name a few.

Learned Skills
It isn't entirely clear how much an Incubator is born/hatched/cloned/whatever knowing and how much they have to be taught, if anything.

Weaknesses
As an Incubator, Yuubey is incapable of feeling emotion of any kind. He also lacks any sort of combat prowess, and his best defense is running away.

Abilities
Nothing that couldn't be said of the rest of his species.

Image
Mentality
Quirks
None, at least by his species' standards.

Likes and Dislikes
Lacking emotions limits the list severely. For the most part, he "likes" whatever helps further the fight against entropy, and "dislikes" anything that impedes his efforts to combat it. He does however, seem to be able to appreciate physical comfort and discomfort, seeming to enjoy eating or soaking in warm water, and trying to avoid pain.

Fears
N/A

Personality
Yuubey is an Incubator. Because of this, he, like his race, cannot exhibit emotions of any kind. As a result, Yuubey often appears cold, calculating and scheming. However, he only seeks to achieve a goal; to preserve the universe from entropy. To meet this goal, he takes all means logically efficient and reasonable, with little regard for human conception of morality. It should also be noted that he does try to make a fair bargain with the girls, obtaining their consent and granting them a wish when transforming them into Puella Magi, however it may be that it's just impossible for the process to work otherwise.

Personal Life
Significant Relationships
Yuubey has no emotional attachment to anyone, for obvious reasons, though he does spend a great deal of time with Margaret and Judith. This is partly due to Margaret preventing him from approaching anyone else most of the time though.

Family
It's unknown how Incubator relations work.

History
All that can really be verified is that he's been working Kalani island for at least two years.

Chiyo & Yuubey

"T-Thank you." Chiyo softly managed, looking away shyly. Aolani always said the nicest things, though perhaps often in an embarrassing fashion. She was a really good friend, and that was something that Chiyo hoped that she herself might be able to emulate.

It was at this moment, during which Chiyo was thinking about this, that Yuubey spoke privately to Aolani. "Low self-esteem is actually pretty common among humans, particularly among girls your age. Many of the ones with personalities like Chiyo's take very well to the life of a Magical Girl, in case you were wondering. The sense of purpose and knowledge that there's something that only they can do tends to make them look upon themselves more favorably."

Yuubey had not actually entered the room to say this, or if he had he hadn't done so noticeably. He hadn't felt the need to take that chance. Aolani had not been responding well to his presence so perhaps she would respond better to a disconnected voice. Some girls took much better to that, either because they were some of the few who found the Incubators' appearance to be disturbing, or simply because they assumed them angels or the voice of God, and were disinclined to be persuaded otherwise. He was fairly certain that this last did not apply to the blonde, and, while he hadn't yet gathered enough data on her to be certain that the first did not, his reasoning in this case was a little simpler than that. Trial and error, one of the oldest methods of discovery.

Normally, Yuubey's kind would not put so much effort towards convincing girls who reacted as Aolani did, unless of course they could be caught in such a situation as they needed to contract. This particular scenario however, was such that it would be ideal to get her to look at it favorably, or at least in such a fashion as not to discourage Chiyo. That was the real reason he'd put up with normally non-cost-effective levels of resistance. The purple-haired girl was odd. She seemed to possess an unnaturally high amount of potential, for no obvious reason at that, but it seemed... unstable somehow. To not investigate further by getting her to contract would be to throw away possibly useful information. Yuubey knew of some of his colleagues who might see that as not worth pursuing based on the amount of energy one had to bid, particularly considering how far behind he already was on his quota, but he also knew of at least one Incubator who would agree.

And, while it would be ideal to contract them both, he was fairly certain that one would follow the other shortly if either was forced into it by circumstance. But not by him of course, that would be immoral...

Aolani

Aolani twitched slightly, startled by the sudden mental intrusion from Yuubey. She frowned for a brief moment, fighting back a grimace as she schooled her features. She was back to smiling pleasantly at Chiyo, saying, "You're quite welcome, Chiyo. I hope you take my words to heart; you're a really pretty girl, even if you don't think so yourself."

The blonde went back to eating her food, letting her friend take in her words as she resumed consuming her breakfast. Though, while she didn't show it, she was rather annoyed by Yuubey's unannounced intrusion. It was startling, to say the least, and the track star felt more than a little bit ticked off that the Incubator hadn't even asked permission or anything before talking to her.

Still....

While she ate, Aolani couldn't help but look up at Chiyo, studying her friend. Becoming a Magical Girl would make her very happy, Aolani was certain of that much. She had little doubt that her best friend had had fantasies of being a Magical Girl, or something similar, in the past. It was normal of her too, for that matter. Plenty of people their age, and even older, always fantasied about being something bigger than themselves, of doing something amazing or being apart of a great cause.

So maybe...maybe Chiyo should....

W-well. At any rate, Aolani wanted the both of them to find out as much as they could about this Magical Girl business before making any commitments. That seemed like the most logical course of action, all things considered.

Still, it didn't hurt to fantasize, now, did it? Aolani was the same in that respect, or had been, at least. She used to fantasize about being a superhero like Wonder Woman back when she was a kid...

Heh. God, that felt like a lifetime ago. In fact, hadn't she dressed up as Wonder Woman for Halloween, back when she was little? Aolani vaguely recalled that. It must have been....

Aolani closed her eyes briefly, pausing for a moment. She'd forgotten the memory all these years later, but now it suddenly came flooding back to her.

Halloween of 2039; she'd dressed up as Wonder Woman, and Mom and Dad had taken her all over the neighborhood to trick-or-treat. She'd earned a lot of candy that night, and nearly made herself sick eating it all. She'd had a great, fun time, and she could still recall the smiles on her parents' faces when she paraded in front of them all dressed up; they'd taken plenty of pictures, and told her how cute she was.

It had been a great time. And...and....

That was her last Halloween as a child. Her parents were murdered almost three weeks later, and after that, Aolani grew up very, very fast.

The biracial girl blinked rapidly, suddenly realizing that she was crying; tears fell from her eyes, dripping onto the cloth of the dining room table, and she was sniffling quite audibly, no doubt drawing the purplette's attention.

She wiped at her eyes, trying to brush away her tears. Fighting not to tremble too much, and to regain hold of herself, she shot a shaky smile up at Chiyo, hoping to put her at ease. "S-sorry. I...I don't know what c-came over me...."

The apology felt rather weak to her, but Aolani couldn't think of a better excuse, wrapped up as she was in trying to gain control over her emotions.

Chiyo

Having not heard Yuubey's words, in so far as one ever heard them, Chiyo was briefly confused by the frown that briefly crossed her best friend's features, Aolani's statement made her smile. In truth, she actually didn't believe herself unattractive per say, Aolani had certainly seen to that, Chiyo just tended to feel... well, self-conscious about her lack of-

Was Aolani crying?

Chiyo quickly set her things aside and rose from her chair, a look of concern on her face as she moved around the table to the blonde's side. "A-Aolani? What's wrong?" It made her feel foolish to not have something more helpful to say, but there wasn't much to be done about that.

"S-sorry. I...I don't know what c-came over me...."

"Aolani..." Again, the purple-haired girl was unsure what to say. She knew she should help, and very much wanted to, but she had no idea why Aolani was upset. The only reason for it that had been established as far as Chiyo was aware was... oh... That might explain it, though there had been no clear prompt. Later. The origin for this specific incident could be looked into later, for now she just reached an arm forward and to the side, indicating offering a hug. She wasn't going to address this verbally unless Aolani wanted to do so.

Aolani

As Aolani continued to try and get her crying under control, she looked up, noticing that Chiyo was offering a hug. More than happy to take her friend up on it, Aolani leaned over to wrap her arms around Chiyo's back, resting her head against the purplette's shoulder as they hugged. The blonde gave up on stemming the tide of her tears, at this point, and simply rode it out, sobbing softly into her best friend's shoulder.

When her tears dried up at least, and Aolani felt she wasn't going to embarrass herself any further, the track-star pulled her face away from Chiyo, though she still kept her arms wrapped around her friend. She looked up at the younger girl, a shy smile gracing her lips.

"I..." Aolani closed her eyes briefly, wondering where to begin. "I'm....sorry, Chiyo. I...didn't mean to worry you. I was just...I remembered something about my...my parents."

The blonde trailed off, unsure of what to say after that. She'd never...told Chiyo the whole story. She knew the bare facts, of course. Her parents were dead, and she was being raised by her Grandpa. But that was it.

To be fair to Chiyo, though, Aolani had told very few people the whole, bloody story about November 17th, 2039—almost ten years later, and she still remembered the exact day it happened, she would always remember the exact date and time of her parents' death, because that event would never leave her—and that was because it was a story that Aolani rarely liked to relive. With one hand, she could count the number of people she'd told the whole story to: Detective Carson, the first person to interview her after the murder, her Grandpa, Doctor Shaw, her childhood therapist who'd she'd seen until she turned ten years old, and Michelle, her best friend before Chiyo, who she had known for almost three years.

Those four people were the only ones who had heard the full story from her. But perhaps...perhaps now, it was time to add a fifth person to that list.

"I never really told you what happened to my parents." Aolani abruptly stated, focusing her gaze back onto Chiyo. Her eyes were still red and puffy from crying, but she had a stronger edge to her stare, now. "But now I...I want to tell you, Chiyo. I...I want to tell you everything, if you'll let me."

Truth be told, she hated the thought of relieving those nightmarish memories, and she hated the thought of thinking of that horrible day again...but she had to do it, for Chiyo's sake. Her friend needed to know the full truth, and she felt it would strengthen their friendship if she knew. And, it might just help Chiyo's self-esteem if she knew that Aolani could trust her with such heart-wrenching knowledge.

For all of that, and more, Aolani knew that now was the time to tell Chiyo everything.

Chiyo

Chiyo couldn't help but smile softly as Aolani cried into her shoulder. She wasn't happy for her friend's tears, but whatever it was that was bothering her, especially if it was what Chiyo faintly suspected it might be, it was far better for her to let it out than bottle everything up. And Chiyo was more than happy to be both her literal and figurative shoulder to cry on, for as long as the blonde wanted her to be.

And, after a little while, Aolani pulled her face back, closing her eyes and, this part being especially strange to Chiyo, apologizing. "I..." Aolani closed her eyes briefly, wondering where to begin. "I'm....sorry, Chiyo. I...didn't mean to worry you. I was just...I remembered something about my...my parents."

Ah, so it was as Chiyo had though. Mind you, she didn't actually know much about the subject beyond the fact that they had died. Actually, it was the decided lack of information that made the Japanese young lady suspect that the story was a particularly uncomfortable one. It had occurred to her that their deaths were likely a matter of public record, and that she could look into them if she had felt so inclined, and for that matter she almost had, just to avoid saying something horribly wrong without realizing, but she had eventually decided to simply wait to see if Aolani would ever tell her on her own. And if she didn't, that would have been okay with her too.

Chiyo hadn't replied to Aolani's statement after she had trailed off, waiting instead to see if she'd continue on her own. She'd prompt her gently if she seemed to need it, but the purplette didn't want to force anything.

And before too long Aolani did, beginning to speak again and refocusing her gaze back onto her, something different in her eyes. In response to her words, Chiyo her own expression becoming serious as well. "Of course I will. You can tell me anything, remember?"

Aolani

"Of course I will. You can tell me anything, remember?"

"Right," Aolani replied, a small smile gracing her features for just a moment. She sighed a moment later, and after a second or two, somewhat reluctantly separated herself from Chiyo, ending their impromptu hug. When her friend back up a little, Aolani stood up from her chair.

"Follow me," the blonde simply stated, stretching slightly as she stood. Leaving their dishes for the moment (they were both mostly done eating at this point, and the dishes could be put into the sink later), Aolani led Chiyo away from the dining room, back up the stairs to her own room.

Just before she reached her destination, however, Aolani came to pass by her parents' room. The slightly older girl paused for a moment, her eyes lingering on the door. Then, the blonde came to a split-second decision. She changed her destination, reaching out with her hand to open the door to her parents' room instead, and then stepped inside.

The room hadn't changed in the near nine years since the death of her parents. She and Grandpa had been in here many times since the murders, but they otherwise left the room in pristine condition; exactly the way Mom and Dad had left it the day they...died.

The bed was unmade, Mom's perfume bottles still rested on her dresser, unattended, Dad's ties still hung over the closet door, their wall calendar from 2039 remained untouched...the entire room was a time capsule, really. Or a tomb, of sorts, depending on how you looked at it.

The room had been restored, in some ways. Jewelry reacquired, put back into their proper place. Ransacked drawers, put back in proper order. Any signs left behind from the men who had murdered her parents, had been wiped clean from this room. But otherwise, it was untouched.

It was...a waste of space, really, from a logical standpoint. The guest bedroom that Grandpa had taken over was rather small, and he could no doubt use this room better. But...at the same time, neither of them could ever really...re-purpose this room. Aolani wanted something of her parents to remain in this world, even if they were long dead. And Makaha no doubt had similar qualms, perhaps feeling even more attached to keeping this room unaltered, considering it had been the bedroom of his only daughter.

That might change one day, in the future. Aolani wasn't sure if she'd keep this house once she graduated from high school, and went on to college. Grandpa would be more than happy to turn over ownership, but at the same time...now and again, Aolani felt she had to put the ghosts of the past to rest. And that might include selling this house one day, and cleaning out this room, as a result.

....

But, if that ever happened at all, it would be at some point in the future. She wouldn't graduate for another three years, at least, and three years seemed like an awfully long time.

Taking a brief moment to look around, Aolani then walked over to the bed, laying down on the unmade covers, resting her head on her mother's pillow. She looked back over to Chiyo, who she noticed was still at the door, and motioned for her friend to come join her. Chiyo had never been in this room before...the blonde had little doubt her friend would miss the significance of coming here now. It was just...another sign of trust, here.

Another sign of just how much Aolani was about to open up to her.

When Chiyo climbed in on the bed, laying next to her, Aolani shifted on the bed to face her. She smiled at her best friend briefly, before changing positions; she moved closer to Chiyo, resting her head against the purplette's stomach as she settled back onto the bed.

The warmth of Chiyo's belly soothed Aolani, as the blonde closed her eyes in contentment. She and Chiyo did stuff like this from time to time, usually when one of them was upset about something, and trying to calm down or feel better. Though, almost always it was the other way around, with Chiyo's head on Aolani's belly, as the biracial girl threaded her fingers through the younger girl's hair. It wasn't often that the position was reversed.

Still, it felt...right. It felt good, and it helped Aolani calm down quite a bit, washing away some of the anxiety and trepidation the blonde felt at telling her best friend the full story. The track star couldn't quite recall when she and Chiyo started trying this out, but all the same, it felt...comforting.

The blonde gave a small sigh, cracking open one eye as she felt Chiyo start to stroke her hair, before closing it again. Aolani just laid there for a good minute, collecting her thoughts.

And then, she spoke.

"I was six years old," the older girl began, her eyes closed as the memories came back to her. "When my parents were murdered."

The day is out of focus now; the details scattered to the winds. She remembers so little, and yet she remembers it all. Everything that matters, at least.

"I... didn't have kindergarten that day, and I was home with Mom and Dad. I got into a fight with them, about...oh, God. I don't even remember what it was about anymore. I was sent to my room, and I stewed in there for over an hour. And...and then..."

The sound of the doorbell echoes in her ears. It isn't unusual, though. Right about now is the time the mail gets delivered, so she thinks nothing of it. That all changes when there's a sudden eruption of shouting downstairs; the words are indistinct, all the way up here, but the noise frightens her all the same.

"Three men came barging in, the one in the lead screamed at my parents to give them all their money and valuables. To...to my knowledge, they'd been behind a series of burglaries in the neighborhood recently. But something changed that day. I don't know what, but they went from burglary to home invasion. The...main guy, waved a gun around, threatening my parents into submission."

The shouting is unbearably loud, and Aolani is scared. She scrambles under her bed, holding her hands over her ears, to try and make the noises stop. And they do, for a time. Then, the footsteps come. Two sets, coming up the stairs. One stops before going to her room, entering her parents instead. The second pair keep going forward, and her door suddenly opens. Aolani instinctively stays quite, and still as a rock. And, after a solid minute, her door closes, and the footsteps retreat.

"One of the guys went upstairs, rummaged around....here, taking stuff from Mom's jewelry box, opening drawers to steal Dad's Rolex and...other things, anything that looked valuable. Meanwhile, the one with the gun stayed downstairs, keeping my parents at bay. He'd already taken their wallets by that point, and was just there to keep them in check while his friends ransacked the house. And...and then..."

The second pair of footsteps retreat to her parents' room, and aside from sounds of rummaging coming from the master bedroom, all is quiet. Suddenly, the shouting came back. A brief, heated exchange took place, the noise echoing across the house. And then, the loudest sound Aolani ever heard erupts into existence. The silence afterward is deafening, and is suddenly broken by an indescribable wail of anguish. The foreign, loud noise is given life once more, and the wail is suddenly cut off.

"My Dad...tried to be a hero. Caught the gunman offguard, and tackled him, wrestling for the gun. It went off, and he got shot in the chest. The gunman scrambled off him, Dad already dead at...at that point. Mom cried out, and the gunman silenced her with a shot to the head. Not long after that, all of the...the intruders left."

Shouting and swearing ensues from her parents' bedroom, from the men rummaging in there. The raucous noise of footsteps rushing down the stairs echoes across the hall, and a short, heated exchange is had on the first floor. And then...all is quite.

"When I was brave enough to finally see what...what happened, I left my room and went downstairs. By the time I reached the bottom step, I saw my parents."

Blood; so much blood, everywhere, all around her. More than Aolani ever saw before, more than she ever thought possible. And at the epicenter of the blood, lay Mom and Dad, their bodies still and silent. And as she stares at the sight before her, the distant echo of police sirens comes into range.

Aolani came to a stop there, for the moment, releasing a shaky sigh as her body shuddered. The blonde gripped the sheets of her parents' bed tightly, the revived memories not agreeing with her, to say the least. The only thing keeping her calm and sane, at that moment, was her head rested against Chiyo's stomach, and the purplette's continued stroking of her hair and scalp.

The blonde found herself unable to go on, if just for the moment, and instead remained silent. As she tried to gather her wits, Aolani rode wave after wave of raw emotion, as her mind relived the horrible day of her parents' brutal murder.

Chiyo

Chiyo couldn't find words that she thought even close to good enough to reply with. It was far easier when there were a set number of possible responses to give. Maybe silence was the best option anyway at the moment. Well, that and continuing to stroke Aolani's hair. She did, however, offer what she hoped to be a supportive smile.

She thought she'd heard about as much as she needed to to understand the situation, more actually, and she didn't want Aolani to feel she had to continue if she wasn't up to it, but she also didn't want to stop her if she wanted to carry on. Chiyo was never one to turn down information, particularly about the girl who, in just the short span of a year, had become her very best friend.

And again that idea sprang to life in the smallish girl's mind, and it was all she could do not to voice it. This sadness wasn't necessary. Not when they could be brought back, or even have never have left in the first place. It would be so easy just to call out the wish, and have the situation mended like that. No more suffering. Aolani would never have had to go through what she was now describing. Somehow, Chiyo could feel that if she said it, even in her mind, that it could be done right this very moment.

But she also knew Aolani well enough to know that she wouldn't want that, at least not quite in that way. She'd want to discuss it first, and, given her current stance on this matter, maybe not even then. Besides, to discuss it she'd first have to bring it up, and now was not the time for that.

So Chiyo remained quiet, doing her best to be gently comforting, and waiting for her friend to recover a little.

Aolani

Aolani remained silent for a few more moments, as she crested through the torrent of emotions boiling within her. Finally, the blonde gave a short, shaky sigh, and spoke.

"So...that's my story..." she proclaimed, opening her eyes fully. She turned her head to look at Chiyo, a fake smile on her face. She wiped at the tears gathering at the corner of her eyes, shuddering slightly as she tried to keep herself calm. She really didn't want to cry in front of Chiyo again.

"That's what happened to my parents," she added, rubbing at her eyes once more. She felt the odd need to apologize for all this, as if she felt guilty for introducing Chiyo to the more tragic aspects of her past. "S-sorry if...if that came off as, um, long winded. I...didn't think that'd go so long..."

Aolani gripped the bedsheets tightly, as she shuddered again. The urge to cry threatened to overcome her once more, but she did her best to resist. She...she hated crying. She...hated being vulnerable, or coming across as vulnerable. More importantly, she hated making people worry about her, and, well, crying was a sign that something was wrong, wasn't it? And she really didn't want to do that in front of Chiyo, a second time that day no less. She...

She had to be strong, after all. She was stronger than these...these damn, stupid feelings. She wouldn't let herself succumb to these emotions again, if Aolani could help it. Doing it once already, today, was more than enough.

Chiyo

Chiyo returned her friend's smile, even if it was fake. She couldn't not really. She hadn't seen this side of Aolani before, and it was kind of... well, cute. She chastised herself in her mind for thinking that at a time like this, but it didn't make it any less true.

"You don't need to apologize, Aolani." Chiyo was again sidetracked by the errant thought that noted how very odd it was for her to utter that statement to anyone. "I'm glad you feel able to talk to me about this, and I'm happy to listen for as long as you want." She continued to stroke the blonde's hair in an attempt at offering comfort, though judging by the shaking she could feel she doubted she was having much success. Unsurprising really.

Still Chiyo was there as support at least, and she hoped that counted for something. She really wanted to help, but wasn't sure how. She knew how to handle situations like these in her games, but comparing this to that would be trivializing it, wouldn't it? And besides, 'I've done this in a game' wasn't really the cleverest thing to think under normal circumstances.

It hurt though, to see Aolani so miserable and not being able to offer assistance. 'Well,' a thought from the back of her mind corrected, 'not entirely unable...'

And that was true, wasn't it? That thought she'd had a moment or two prior? There was always the option of the wish. But was now really the time though? Aolani clearly disliked thinking about all this magic stuff. Then again, they were at least on the subject now, and when was Chiyo going to actually bring up Aolani's parents herself?

Aolani

"You don't need to apologize, Aolani. I'm glad you feel able to talk to me about this, and I'm happy to listen for as long as you want."

Aolani felt herself smile at that, Chiyo's words comforting her. Chiyo was always good at that...listening, that is. She never judged, and was always willing to hear her out....it made her glad to have such a supportive friend...

The blonde nuzzled her head further into Chiyo's lap, taking comfort as the girl stroked her hair. Slowly, the urge to burst into tears subsided, and Aolani felt herself gain more control over her emotions. The young girl gave a small sigh of relief, glad that momentary crisis was over with. She...she really did hate doing anything that made her look vulnerable...

The biracial girl finally lifted her head from Chiyo's lap, shifting her body so she was upright, and facing her friend. She gave Chiyo a wide, genuine smile, and leaned in, giving the purplette a small kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you, Chiyo. For...just listening, really. I'm lucky to have a friend like you. So very lucky...." Aolani smile grew slightly wider, as she slipped her palm into Chiyo's hand, lightly squeezing it. It felt...good, to touch her, and be so close with her...

Aolani blinked a little, realizing just how close the two of them were. Their faces were mere inches apart, giving her a good view of Chiyo's cute, pretty lips...lips that almost begged to be kissed, really. And...m-man, Chiyo was really pretty in general, wasn't she? She had such a cute, beautiful face...she really needed to tell her friend that more often, it might help boost her self-image...

All the same, that level of closeness made her flush slightly. But, it was easy enough to ignore that feeling, caught up as she was in the moment....

So caught up, in fact, that Aolani didn't even realize she had kissed Chiyo square on the lips, until a second after it happened.

It was an impulsive move; normally Aolani would never do anything as bold as that, but the emotionally draining confession with Chiyo had left her inhibitions...weak. Weak enough that, with one impulsive thought, Aolani brushed them aside, and gave into her instincts, kissing Chiyo Wakahisa on the lips.

It felt like...pure magic, in a sense. The feeling of Chiyo's lips against her own...it sent a blissful spike of...something down her spine, making Aolani moan in surprised pleasure, as she kissed the slightly younger girl. The same odd feeling gave her an odd warmth in her belly, something which Aolani also quite liked. Her eyes fluttered in delight, her heartbeat skyrocketed, her cheeks became flushed from her good feelings....

Then, reality slammed back into Aolani. The blonde rapidly blink, fully registering the fact she'd kissed Chiyo, and even worse, had moaned into said kiss—

Aolani hastily pulled back, her face crimson red from a mixture of her excitement and growing embarrassment. She rapidly opened and closed her mouth, a soft, strangling sound escaping her throat before she whirled around, unwilling to face Chiyo at the height of her mortification.

"I-I'm sorry!" Aolani finally managed to get out, once more going through a roller-coaster of emotions. This time, running through the gambit of mortification, embarrassment, and deep anxiety. "I, I don't....I'm sorry!"

Aolani brought up her knees, burying her face in them as she very much wished, at that moment, for the earth to rise up and swallow her whole. Oh, God! What had she just done?! One moment she was pouring her heart out to Chiyo, and the next....

All that talk must have...lowered her emotional inhibitions, that much she was vaguely aware of. Made her...vulnerable, in a sense. On an emotional level, at least. Because Aolani usually had the self-control to stop herself from going that far! S-sure, she'd broken down a little...started being overly affectionate with Chiyo lately, even started kissing her on the cheek. B-but this! This was...!

Aolani groaned into her knees, desperately hoping she hadn't just ruined her friendship with Chiyo. She'd strengthened their bond earlier, with her heartfelt confession...that much was undeniable. But wh-what if she screwed that all up, with that embarrassing kiss?! What if Chiyo didn't like girls? Japan was a rather...conservative culture, right? Gay relationships weren't...typical, there. And even if she did like girls, what if Chiyo just saw her as a friend? What if she didn't like either gender at all, and was just asexual? What if....what if...

These, and a thousand other worries and scenarios whirled through Aolani's mind, as the blonde tried to think of some solution or another, to make amends with Chiyo...all the while hoping she hadn't fundamentally broken their friendship with that bold, unexpected kiss.

Chiyo

Chiyo smiled at her friend's thanks. It was good to know her listening helped, even if it was a more passive way of lending a hand. Maybe it didn't solve anything itself, but maybe it didn't need to. Letting Aolani open up like that couldn't be without some significance.

As per usual, Chiyo had blushed at the peck on the cheek, yet another thing that she wanted to reciprocate but was never entirely sure or confidant enough how, but also as usual it made her feel bashfully pleased.

In a similar vein, it was nice to just be like this, hand in hand, face to face, and so close together. She would have worried that it might make Aolani a little uncomfortable had the blonde not been the one to initiate it in the first place. For her part, Chiyo felt delightfully content lying there with her most precious friend. The togetherness of it was relaxing, and the smallish girl could actually feel the weight of her general anxieties lifting.

The purplette still hadn't found the words to say this, or fully decided if she should for that matter, when Aolani kissed her on the lips.

The very first thought she had on this was in keeping with her previous beliefs about the way Aolani saw her, that being that it must have been platonic, obviously. That, however, was made pretty obviously untrue, if the noise the slightly older girl had made meant anything. Then, that assumption, that she had previously held as a basic fact upon which other assumptions were made, now cast aside, Chiyo found herself surprised, confused, and on the verge of a realization.

It was the first of these that was most evident at the moment, it certainly registered in her expression at least. Not shock, or even anything unpleasant, just the look of someone who had just been caught very much off guard. So for her part, she barely had time to blink as her friend spun to face away from her.

"I-I'm sorry!" Well, this was... "I, I don't....I'm sorry! What was this actually? Chiyo didn't quite feel as embarrassed as she thought she would, or would have thought she would had she actually considered that this situation may one day come to pass, maybe because Aolani was clearly embarrassed enough for the both of them. And, if the situation was indeed as Chiyo's gaming instincts were telling her, she might well have more reason to.

Even so though, she didn't know what to say to fix this, to make it so that Aolani wasn't red in the face and would look her in the eye again. She didn't know how to handle situations like this. Except...

Except, yes, actually, she did. This particular set of circumstances was unusual to her only if she discounted her games, which were usually only discounted because they were realistic. Well what now reality? Who was unrealistic now? And so Chiyo decided that, if the world suddenly decided it was going to be a weird magical girl dating sim visual novel thing, then her applying what she'd learned was not really that outlandish of a thought.

So Chiyo put a hand gently on the blonde's shoulder. "Hey, it's okay." She assured softly. "You didn't do anything wrong."

Aolani

Aolani suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, as Chiyo proclaimed, "Hey, it's okay. You didn't do anything wrong."

The blonde slowly raised her head up, cautiously looking back at her friend...deeply relieved to see that Chiyo didn't look disgusted, or anything like that. Just...surprised, it seemed.

"Y-you're sure?" Aolani carefully inquired, looking around nervously, her eyes darting back and forth between Chiyo, and the bed frame behind her. "I didn't...that didn't....um, g-gross you out, or anything...?"

Okay, okay....so far so good...m-maybe she could recover from this! Chiyo didn't seem to be reacting all that badly, so...m-maybe...she had a chance to fix this?

Aolani's mind was going into full damage-control mode now, wondering how she could recover from her momentary lapse in judgment. It really all depended on how Chiyo interpreted the kiss...did she think it was just a friendly peck, or....something more? Personally she'd wager the latter, given how she had...m-moaned, into the kiss. That was sort of a dead giveaway, after all. B-but, maybe Chiyo hadn't noticed it, or wouldn't put two and two together...?

....

She didn't....Aolani really hated lying, and people who lied. She hadn't been lying to Chiyo before, of course, it was just...an omission of truth. Chiyo never asked, and she never told. But now, with that kiss...whatever happened next, it would be wrong to try and deny things. She'd just had to accept what had happened, and....try to move on from there.

Aolani shifted around, moving herself so she was fully facing Chiyo, now. She looked away nervously, before gathering a sudden swell of courage...her eyes moving forward, gazing into Chiyo's own, staring straight at her.

"I...." Aolani bit her lip, fighting through her bout of nerves. Ugh, she'd never felt this...this nervous in years! W-what was wrong with her?! "That is, um..."

It was....h-hard, finding the words. She'd....she'd fantasized about this moment, mentally rehearsed what she'd say...usually it involved giving some overly flowery speech, about how much she loved Chiyo and how long she'd had a crush on her best friend. About how she cared about her, and how it hurt so badly, yet felt so good, to...to love her like this. How she wanted to spend the rest of her life with her, and do everything together, and...and....

But the words failed her now. Aolani was usually an articulate girl, always ready to speak her mind. But her voice completely failed her here; she just couldn't think of anything to say. None of her halfhearted preparations and daydreams helped her now.

....

Well then. If she...couldn't be so eloquent, then maybe she didn't need to be. Maybe all she needed were three very simple, but powerful words.

"I love you." the words flowed out of her, and they felt so...right. Liberating, even. She'd wanted to say this for a long, long time. "I love you, Chiyo Wakahisa."

Chiyo

"Y-you're sure? I didn't...that didn't....um, g-gross you out, or anything...?"

That was strange. Chiyo supposed Aolani hadn't figured it out after all. Well, now there were situations that Chiyo would need to mentally go back to and reassess. In reply to the actual question, she just shook her head with a smile.

The next words though, they surprised her quite a bit more. Well, at least once she heard them all strung together properly, though the verbal stumbling itself was rather uncharacteristic of Chiyo's friend as she had come to know her, and thus was at least somewhat surprising as well.

Even so, it was nothing compared to those three words in succession. Chiyo had suspected after the kiss itself, that suspicion was directly tied into her current state of mind, that of the dating-sim protagonist, but that didn't mean that she was actually prepared to hear them. For a moment, she just sat there blinking.

"Don't wait too long or she'll get the wrong idea." A part of Chiyo instructed. "You know the words, just say them. If there's anything you know how to do it's this."

"I love you too, Aolani." she said with a warm smile.

And it was true. The blonde was one of the most important things in Chiyo's life. To call the girl her best friend would be understating it for Chiyo. She was her first friend, and something that she would not trade for anything. And if she had romantic feelings for her, well, Chiyo could certainly reciprocate.

Aolani

"I love you too, Aolani."

Aolani gave a slow, languid blink at that....almost not quite certain she'd heard Chiyo right.

But she had. There...there was no mistaking it. Chiyo, she'd really....s-she'd said that....that....

Aolani felt her face flush again, though more from excitement and pure glee rather than embarrassment. She gave Chiyo a rather bashful little smile, the blonde feeling incredibly nervous and unsure, all of a sudden. Her usual confidence still eluding her at the moment.

"R-Really? You do?" Aolani questioned, looking over at Chiyo....staring at her best friend (and soon to be girlfriend?) with a shy smile. Though the query was more rhetorical than anything else.

The biracial girl felt an immense amount of relief go through her, as if a massive burden was suddenly lifted off of her shoulders. And in a sense, it was, wasn't it? She'd...finally come clean, and to her absolute joy, Chiyo accepted her confession. Moreover, her friend returned her feelings!

Aolani gave a nervous little giggle, the blonde still looking around, her eyes not quite wanting to fixate on Chiyo just yet. Her heart fluttered rapidly in her chest, and she felt almost...lightheaded, in a sense. W-Was this what it felt like? Pure joy? It'd been such a long, long time since Aolani had felt anything coming close to this!

"Can I, um...." Aolani suddenly spoke up, giving the purplette a nervous little smile. Her throat felt incredibly dry all of a sudden, forcing her to swallow....but Aolani did not continue on; her words trailing off as she lost the courage to speak.

Her usual demeanor still failed her...leaving her in perhaps her most vulnerable time. Aolani almost felt like a whole new girl, in a sense. S-She was never this nervous! Never this...emotional! Feeling this way was so...weird. But, well, really nice too, of course.

It might be awhile yet before she regained her usual confidence, though. This day....yesterday, as well....Aolani had been on one emotional roller-coaster to another. Discovering magic was real, telling Chiyo the whole story of her parents' murder, and now, this....i-it was hard to believe she'd ever feel normal again!

But, well, maybe that wasn't so bad. And even if it was....she'd adjust, given time. She might be shy and bashful now, but soon enough, Aolani felt confident her usual personality would assert itself.

Not before she made an utter fool of herself in front of Chiyo, though.

"C-Can I...." Aolani bashfully looked away, fiddling with a lock of her hair. Inwardly berating herself for acting so oddly, especially in front of Chiyo! She was totally embarrassing herself with this....moe-girl act! B-but, she just couldn't help it! Besides...she hadn't asked permission the last time. It'd be...b-better, if she did this time around.

"Can I kiss you again, Chiyo?" Aolani finally managed to get the words out, fully looking over at her longtime friend, a small smile spread across her face. "I-I"d really like to....y-you know. Kiss you....again. If, um, th-that's okay."

Chiyo

"Of course I do." Chiyo answered the obviously rhetorical question. It wasn't that she misunderstood that it was one, just that she felt that Aolani could potentially do with some reassurance. It certainly wouldn't hurt at least. The truth in it made it easier to say than she would have thought, though perhaps the fact that she had always kind of figured Aolani knew how strongly she felt factored in as well.

There were some lingering doubts of course, but it was actually pretty easy to ignore them for once. This was, quite unarguably, a situation in which Chiyo knew what she was doing, and it made her feel uncharacteristically confident.

In direct contrast, Aolani seemed to be rather flustered. It was kind of adorable actually. It evoked an odd mixture of affection and amusement, and the purple-haired girl couldn't help but think how strangely well fiction and fact seemed to match up. Moe, it seemed, was an actual thing in the real world.

"Can I kiss you again, Chiyo?" This did manage to catch Chiyo off guard though, perhaps because she was lost in her thoughts. She blinked, slightly surprised, and blushed, feeling herself returning somewhat to her usual demeanor. "I-I"d really like to....y-you know. Kiss you....again. If, um, th-that's okay." For some reason, even as her blush deepened and she she found herself shyly averting her gaze, Chiyo smiled at the words. In answer, she nodded, returning her eyes to Aolani's face, leaning forward, and parting her lips slightly.

Aolani

Aolani felt her heart beat rapidly inside of her chest, the blonde's face flushed horribly as she stared over at Chiyo...the purplette leaning forward, lips parted for a kiss. Her stomach fluttered in excitement, and after a hesitant pause, Aolani leaned over as well, her lips meeting Chiyo's own.

Aolani kissed her best friend (and now girlfriend?) once more, and an utter feeling of delight spiked through her body! She couldn't help but give another little pleased moan again, the biracial girl a tad embarrassed at making such a noise...but in her enjoyment of kissing Chiyo, she more or less brushed it aside.

The slightly older girl didn't pull back right away this time around, taking her time to enjoy her first real sensual kiss. Aolani almost felt light-headed, overwhelmed with delight and excitement, as she was! She positively radiated with joy, the young teenager becoming consumed by these unfamiliar, but welcomed, explosion of feelings!

Aolani leaned a little more against Chiyo, deepening the kiss. They'd been going at this for a good few minutes now, but the track star felt no urge to stop anytime soon, caught up as she was. And then, quite suddenly, her tongue darted from her lips, brushing up against Chiyo's own...seeking permission to enter her mouth.

The blonde seemed to come to her senses at this point however, a more rational aspect of her mind pointing out that, maybe, she was pushing things a bit far with just one kiss. Rather hastily, but regretfully, she finally pulled back, separating herself from Chiyo.

Her cheeks were tinged crimson, Aolani rather flushed as she sat panting on the bed. A nervous little smile spread across her face, and she giggled, rather unable to help herself. Despite the small amount of nervousness she still felt, though, Aolani felt extraordinarily pleased with herself.

"S-Sorry. I, um, got a little carried away there at the end, didn't I?" Aolani questioned, giving another giggle. "I-I guess I can't help myself, huh? I-It's kinda....hard, I guess, to, um, n-not break down and....ravage you on the spot, Chiyo. You're just so...cute and sexy! I just....heh, I k-kinda wanna do everything with you, now."

Aolani gave another burst of giggles, her face reddening further as her blush deepened. In any other moment, Aolani would be absolutely mortified at saying something like that. As it was though, the biracial girl was absolutely giddy with joy, and compounding that, her mind was rather fuzzy and her internal censor was pretty much out of commission. Hence, Aolani didn't feel too much embarrassment for saying that.

For now, at least. She'd no doubt be positively mortified, once she came off of her high and back to her full capacity.

Chiyo

It finally occurred to Chiyo that she had no idea what she was doing. Well, she knew what she was doing, but she didn't know what she was doing. She was kissing Aolani, she was aware of that, acutely aware of that, but even though she had been acting cool earlier, it was now all too clear to her that she actually didn't know what she was supposed to do.

She had only ever seen people kissing, and even then only in her games or in movies, or those bird-like pecks that her parents gave. She didn't know how it was actually supposed to be done, and she certainly had no idea what Aolani would like and she was going to be terrible at this she was sure.

But she gave it her best. And it certainly wasn't unenjoyable. Actually, it seemed the easiest way to proceed forward would be to just go with it. Okay, maybe kissing wasn't as difficult as she had originally thought.

The relationship itself though, that Chiyo was even less sure how to do. Not that she was opposed to it, mind you, if Aolani held romantic feelings for her, she was happy to accept them. If Aolani wanted her as her girlfriend, she would happily take that place. Romantic relations however, were a field in which she simultaneously had great and no experience. Sure, she had won the affections of countless 2-D girls, and like three boys, otome was not a popular genre, but Aolani was her first friend besides her brother. She was just really afraid that she'd mess up badly enough that she'd lose her, whether through some conflict or just things getting too weird.

But, as it now occurred to her,, she shouldn't allow that to trouble her too much right now, lest she bring that very thing about. For now, she should relax and enjoy herself, and again, there was a great deal to enjoy.

There was the proximity to Aolani, the feeling of her lips on her own, and those cute little sounds that she was making, that, after a moment she realized that she was mirroring. Then there was the sensation of Aolani's tongue and-

The blonde broke off abruptly, seeming to catch herself, blushing and giggling and smiling, and quite frankly the whole thing was rather adorable. Between this and their prior activity, Chiyo found herself smiling as well, though surprisingly enough blushing a bit less than the girl before her. This changed rather dramatically when Aolani spoke next. Chiyo really couldn't look her in the eye for a minute after she said that, and her face was flushed to an alarming shade. Even so, she still couldn't help smiling shyly and trying to mumble something in reply. "I, um, ah, I mean- I-" As always, Chyio was the picture of eloquence. After a few moments, she managed out "I'm happy to hear you say that."

Aolani

Aolani giggled again, the blonde more than amused by Chiyo's stammered response. She was starting to gain more control over herself now, however, and so she managed not to tack on anything else that would embarrass Chiyo (and mortify her, later). Instead she looked over at the purplette, grinning over at her contently.

"We should have done this a long time ago," Aolani proclaimed, grinning sweetly at her new girlfriend. She leaned over, giving the more shyer girl a kiss on the forehead. She spoke up again, her words carrying a somewhat more...suggestive tone. "But, well...I guess we can make up for lost time now, huh?"

The ecstatic girl gave another series of cute giggles, still quite giddy and supremely happy with her current situation. She reached over, slipping her hand into Chiyo's, and squeezed the other girl's palm. "So...heh, I can hardly remember what we were going to do, now! Feels like we've been here....forever, hehe. S-so, Chiyo...what else did you want to do today? Besides, you know, making out."

Aolani issued forth another series of giggles, the blonde tickled pink by her own joke.

Aolani & Judith

The rest of the day passed by in a blur, and soon enough it was Monday, and the four girls were all back in school. However, after some texts were exchanged between Judith and Aolani, it was agreed that the two groups would meet together for lunch, to discuss more about being Magical Girls and, well, to attend Judith and Margaret on a Witch Hunt. An idea Aolani wasn't quite looking forward to, given what had happened on Saturday (which felt like a lifetime ago, almost), but still...it seemed necessary.

On the bright side though...Aolani herself still felt a bit giddy over the events of the previous day. If there was one good thing that came out of this reality-defying mess, it was the fact that she and Chiyo had become much closer over it. She felt more than a bit embarrassed about how, well...embarrassing she'd acted around Chiyo, in the immediate aftermath of their getting together. Sh-she'd said so many mortifying things! It was a wonder she hadn't died of embarrassment, when she'd regained full control over her mouth...

Still, it felt....incredibly good, to have Chiyo as her girlfriend now. They'd spent most of Sunday, after getting together, pretty sedately and quietly...hanging out at her home, going out to the mall (a different mall this time, of course; given the size of Kalani, there were more than a few malls established across the artificial island), and of course, making out with Chiyo more than once during the rest of the day. Though...

The blonde squirmed a bit in her seat, her face flushing a bit as she pretended to listen to her math teacher. In her...zealousness, she'd been surprisingly aggressive in kissing Chiyo, and, um, w-well...

....I-It wasn't all that bad! Th-the hickey was close enough to Chiyo's shoulder that her girlfriend should be able to cover it up with the collar of her shirt. Or so the track-star hoped. It had felt...really good and more than a bit naughty at the time, but now it felt rather embarrassing...and she really, really hoped Chiyo's parents hadn't noticed when the purplette went home that night...

At any rate though...with Chiyo at her side, Aolani felt a little more confidant about meeting with Margaret and Judith again. She knew her girlfriend still felt rather excited about the whole affair...after all, it was sorta like a dream-come true for her, wasn't it? She didn't feel nearly as good about the whole thing of course, but perhaps Chiyo's excitement would help to calm down her inner frustrations.

Aolani was lost in her thoughts for a little while longer, and before the fifteen year old knew it, it was time for lunch; the school bell rang after the third class of the day, and she and the other students of Kalani Eastern High School were all leaving to eat their lunch. Aolani already had hers ready, her Grandpa kind enough to pack her a lunch, so she headed over to the pre-arranged location she and Judith had settled on for their meeting. They'd agreed to eat together outside, in the small courtyard the school had. They'd eat at a somewhat secluded table in the corner of the courtyard, lessening the chances of anyone overhearing their conversation.

Aolani walked through the doors leading into the courtyard proper...though she didn't make a beeline for their table, just yet. She instead hung around the entrance, hoping to catch Chiyo before going over there. It felt more...comforting to her, if they walked together over there.

---------------------------------------------

As Aolani waited for Chiyo, Judith had already snagged their seat at the courtyard, the green-haired girl humming to herself contently as she waited for Margaret, Aolani, and Chiyo to arrive. Like Aolani, she had a lunch packed for herself as well (she'd been fixing her own lunches for school for a few years now, as well as lunches for Ruth as well), so she'd been able to make an immediate beeline for the courtyard to secure their seat. Hence, why she was the first one to arrive there.

All in all though, Judith quite looked forward to having lunch with her new friends! She always enjoyed eating with Margie of course, but it was an equally fund and exciting prospect, to eat with Aolani and Chiyo! She was looking forward to seeing them again, and was equally eager to take them out onto a Witch Hunt after school! Margie had had some reservations about the idea, but Judith didn't see the harm in it. They'd both be there to protect the girls if they were in any danger, and it'd be a good way to show them just what Magical Girls did! After all, they hadn't even seen Margie fight that Witch on Saturday, so it'd be a good learning opportunity for the both of them.

That thought in mind, Judith continued to wait for the three teens, a happy little smile on her face as she waited.

Yuubey

"Good afternoon, Judith." As it turned out, Yuubey was the first to join Judith at the table, hopping up onto one of the unoccupied seats. In its own way, he was as eager for this little outing as the green-haired girl was. It had been talking with Chiyo for much of the day, and this would be a good opportunity to give her and Aolani an idea of what they might expect from this business.

And Margaret wouldn't be a problem for a while, given the understanding that they'd come to. She'd try to verbally deter the girls still, it was sure, but she'd need to keep her efforts low key, or she'd have to worry about getting Judith wondering what was so bad about being a Magical Girl anyway.

Chiyo

Things had been interesting to say the least for Chiyo as of late. Her largely mundane and unchanging world had recently become almost unrecognizable in some ways. Indeed, she actually felt a bit like she was living in a different world altogether. It was almost as though she had stepped out of the real world and into an anime.

It wasn't bad, necessarily, but it did throw her a bit out of her usual rhythm. She'd been spending more time with Aolani, certainly, not that she didn't normally spend a lot with her anyway, and not that it hadn't been enjoyable, but she hadn't had much time to think things through. And the time that she did end up having had ended up occupied, due to a little bit of prompting, by thoughts on the offer they'd recently received.

It was nothing insignificant, even completely disregarding the whole "being a Magical Girl" thing. A single wish for whatever they wanted. Nothing was beyond its reach, theoretically they could have any one thing they wanted each, but Chiyo couldn't really think of anything to ask for, especially given the magnitude of the opportunity.

She'd lost Yuubey a few minutes ago, he'd been with her pretty much since Aolani and her had parted ways, so she finally found a few minutes alone to finally mull over everything. Which was of course what she was doing when she walked through the entrance into the courtyard.

Judith

"Good morning, Yuubey!" Judith cheerily greeted the cat-like alien, smiling brightly as she focused her attention on the Incubator. It'd been a little since she'd last had a moment alone with Yuubey; but then again, she had been pretty busy with Margie this weekend. "How are you?"

Unlike her friend, the green-haired girl was quite found of their magical girl mascot. After all, why shouldn't she be? Yuubey was the only reason her sister was still alive. For that, the Incubator deserved her gratitude, and much more! She really did wish that Margie would be nicer to him, though. She honestly didn't understand why her best friend had such an issue with Yuubey, at times. Maybe she found him creepy? That, Judith could understand; after all, the Incubator's bright red eyes were a little disconcerting.

Aolani

"Hey, Chiyo." Aolani smiled over at her best friend (and more, as of yesterday), glad to see her. They didn't share a lot of classes together, given the grade difference between the two girls, so for the most part Aolani only really saw Chiyo during lunch, at school.

"How are you? I heard Mr. Peterson passed out a pop quiz during his Math class...think you did all right?" the blonde further inquired, making a little small talk. She remained over at the courtyard entrance with Chiyo...not going over to the table to meet Judith and Margaret until Chiyo was ready to go over there. Perhaps it was a bit...selfish of her, but she wasn't exactly opposed to putting off the meeting, as long as she could.

Yuubey

"I'm well, thank you for asking. And how are you?" replied the creature. Conversing with Judith politely was far easier, Yuubey found, then with her partner. It knew of the factors involved that made it so, though it was still of the opinion that most of Margaret's anger at it was irrational and misplaced. But, with current developments it expected that the two of them could at least get back into the nice working relationship they'd had before he contracted Judith, the girl brooding, disliking it, but at least allowing him to go about his business unaccosted.

And on that subject, it had another inquiry to make. "Additionally, I wanted to ask your thoughts on these two girl's you're taking Witch hunting." And both of its questions were genuine as its tone suggested. They were not calculated attempts, as Margaret would have surely assumed were she present, at achieving any specific outcome, it merely wanted the information, and so requested it.

Chiyo

Chiyo, having been so engrossed in her thoughts that she almost jumped upon hearing someone speak her name, and indeed she did start, but quickly relaxed a bit upon seeing who it was. "A-Ah, hello Aolani." Her face brightened both in color and expression as she overcame her initial surprise and stumbling. "I'm okay. I think the test went pretty well." In all truth she wasn't completely sure either way. She was usually pretty good at school, but she had admittedly been a bit distracted. She'd been thinking a great deal about the events of the past few days, for a great many reasons.

"How have you been? Have you seen either of those two so far?" She wouldn't rush Aolani, understanding to a certain extent her friend's, well, perhaps it was girlfriend's now, hesitation. The blonde had seemed decidedly less enthused than she was about all this, indeed she had seemed like it challenged her concept of what was and what wasn't far greater than it had for Chiyo. That said, avoidance was unhealthy, and it wouldn't go away by ignoring it. Chiyo was hoping that, by being there by Aolan's side for it, and hopefully providing some assurance in being so, she could perhaps become somewhat inured to the supernatural world that apparently existed all around.

Judith

"I'm doing very well Yuubey, thanks for asking!" Judith cheerily replied to the Incubator, practically beaming at him. Making sure no one was looking in her direction first (it would be a bad idea to look like she was petting thin air, after all!), Judith then reached over and lightly patted the cat-like creature, running her hand through his rather soft and silky fur. Treating the alien being as if he really were a cat.

When he inquired about Chiyo and Aolani...well, the green-haired girl had to think about that for a minute. After gathering her thoughts, she slowly replied, "Well...I think Chiyo really has potential! She seems quite enthused about everything, and really eager, too! I think she'd make a great Magical Girl! As for her friend...I'm kinda worried about Aolani, actually. She seemed to really take things hard. Which...well, I don't blame her for that. I mean, I was super shocked when you first approached me, Yuubey!"

Of course, her shock had then faded away to joy when she realized she could Wish her sister back to life...but, well, Judith had Contracted under some rather unique circumstances. She'd never been all that much of a realist or rationalist, so discovering that Magic really did exist hadn't exactly shattered her world view, to be fair.

"I think they'd both make wonderful partners though!" the junior Puella Magi continued, a small smile on her face. "I mean, with four of us around, it'd be a lot easier to hunt Witches and Familiars! Plus, it'd be fun to have more friends to hang out with."

Of course, Judith was willing to hang out with Aolani and Chiyo even if they didn't Contract. She was always eager to make new friends...and even if those two didn't become Magical Girls, she saw no reason why they couldn't still hang out from time to time!

Aolani

"Oh, I've been....well, I guess. Almost fell asleep during Mrs. Robertson's class, but, well, that's nothing new." Aolani commented, smiling over at her friend (girlfriend? They really needed to, ah, speak about that). "And...no, I haven't. I mean, I passed Margaret by in the hall during Second Period, but the hallway was pretty packed so I didn't get the chance to talk to her or anything."

What Aolani didn't mention, just yet at least, was that she'd rather rudely discovered that she DID in fact, share a class with Margaret Faust. She'd never really noticed her before, but after this weekend...well, it hadn't been too hard to spot the stoic girl in her History class. That had been a rather...rude awakening, to say the least. They didn't sit anywhere near each other, but still, it had rattled her a bit.

Of course, her attention was drawn to...something else. Her gaze flashed over Chiyo's neck and shoulders rather briefly...and as such, the blonde felt her cheeks flush a little when she caught sight of the hickey she'd given her girlfriend the other day. The love-bite half-visible under the neck of Chiyo's shirt.

"You, uh, m-might want to ah, r-raise your shirt a bit." Aolani finally stated, blushing as she looked away. Sh-she really hoped it didn't take long for that thing to go away! As it was, it was....an embarrassing reminder of how, ah, a-aggressive she'd been the other day...

Yuubey

"I believe you're correct about the sudden change in perspective having a negative effect on Aolani." Yuubey replied. "Actually, she seems to be avoiding thinking on it as much as possible. Perhaps you'll have better luck with her than I. It sincerely hoped she would, figuratively speaking of course, hope too was beyond the direct personal experience of the Incubator beyond what it found in humans. The more keen everyone was on the idea of contracting, the more Margaret's hand would be forced, and the less likely he'd have to take one of the riskier routes to achieving his goal.

Chiyo

"Hm?" Chiyo inquired, insofar as the small noise could be said to be an inquiry. Even after glancing down, it took her a moment to figure out exactly what Aolani was referring to, after all her shirt was fine, only really getting it upon looking up and seeing the embarrassment on her face. Oh, right. Turning rather red herself, Chiyo quickly concealed the mark, reminding herself to keep that covered, and wondering just how long it had been like that. ""O-Oh, um, r-right, uh, thank you." Chiyo had been surprised, though not at all negatively so, to find how... enthusiastic she was at times.

Ah, but they had another engagement to be tending to, didn't they. "S-So, where were we supposed to meet them exactly?" she asked.

Aolani

"Oh...at a corner table, I think. Judith uh, gave me directions. We....should probably go ahead and meet them." Aolani finally consented, sighing a bit. She couldn't really put this off forever now, could she?

That thought in mind, the blonde finally left the entryway with Chiyo, heading into the courtyard proper to go and meet Judith for lunch. It took only a few minutes for the duo to find the cheery Puella Magi.

Judith

As Judith nodded at Yuubey, a thoughtful look on her face, she noticed the two girls coming her way. She smiled brightly at them, gesturing for the two to take a seat in the bench across from her. "It's good to see you two! Margie should be with us real soon, though if you two want to get started on lunch...that'd be fine with me!"
