- Chester Maximus Sterling
ALIAS
- Snake. Chester doesn't understand the point of aliases to be completely honest. He doesn't consider himself a hitman, and he probably will never refer to him as such. He uses Snake as if it was a casual nickname, though the name speaks volumes of the style of his attacks.
AGE
- Fourteen.
GENDER
- Male
FLAME TYPE
- ???
OCCUPATION
- Chester is currently a student in school, trying to finish his years of education.
GENERAL APPEARANCE
- Chester has the appearance of an ordinary young boy, perhaps a little more petite than one might expect. He has a slim figure, standing upright at a height of 5'0, and as short as he might be he isn't the least bothered by it. He has often been mistaken for a girl in multiple occasions, and the image is only enhanced should he let down his long hair. Chester had never thought of cutting it down, though he does get irked and embarrassed should others mistake him of a member of the opposite sex. On the bright side, it makes for a surprisingly effective disguise. Just by letting down his hair and exchanging his pants for a skirt, Chester can seem like a completely different person, and he makes a convincing girl. It is still terribly humiliating for him however, and he has yet to learn to feel comfortable in that disguise.
His usual attire consists of his school uniform, which was expected of a student. Chester follows the rules, he doesn't want to break any by not following the dress code. However, he has a tendency to steer toward long sleeved clothes when he isn't in school, and is especially fond of a sturdy jacket that allowed him to change its design easily, using spray paint and other material to camouflage it and utilising the hood to cover his strangely coloured hair. It is easier to hide from the view of others, and Chester practices his camouflaging skills in his free time, mostly painting and decorating the appearance of the jacket.
PERSONALITY
- The first impression one gets from Chester is that he was simply an ordinary boy. Chester is usually a generic person, always smiling and hiding in the background of people who enjoy the spotlight. He was hardly anyone worth noticing, being perfectly average in everything. In fact, the only thing worth noticing is probably his vividly blue hair color, a color that is terribly uncommon among most people. Chester seems to have a talent for getting along with others, striking up a conversation despite not being the most confident person out there. He does get awkward and is easily startled, seeming like a harmless rabbit at times, never showing much of a notable strength in anything at all.
However, that is only the shallow shell of the whole of Chester's mentality. Almost perfecting the art of staying average in everything, the boy knows how to do things to the right extent in order not to stand out too much among his classmates. He doesn't notice that, but it was a built in reflex from his dislike of others paying too much attention to him. Chester stutters easily and gets worried that he will say something wrong, so he learned how to fade unnoticed into the background when he wished to, hiding his entire presence. He never lets others see too far into him, and while some would think that they were close, that might be far from the truth. As much as Chester seems to be great friends with most, he never truly trusts anyone enough to give away most of his personal information, yet finds ways for them to talk to him about their own thoughts subconsciously. That said, Chester usually has nothing but good intentions when he convinces someone to speak to him. He is a good listener that shows empathy to the stories others have to share, always smiling and being serious at all the right moments. No matter how dark their confessions may be, Chester never appears to judge anyone for what they think.
Yet there is another side to him that Chester rarely chooses to show. Despite his friendly and kind demeanour, he can be cold hearted toward the ones he deems as an enemy. His behaviour can be more sinister than one might think when he decides to use them in the right way, slinking in the shadows like a venomous snake just waiting for the right moment to strike. Chester hates fighting, but that doesn't necessarily mean he prefers the more peaceful way to solve a situation. All he has to do was to avoid a direct confrontation and kill the target from behind, problem solved. He kills someone as easily and as casually as walking to school, with pure bloodlust showing in his smile. As much as Chester doesn't wish to acknowledge it, his body behaves and his mentality matches the one needed of an assassin even when he has no intention to.
LIKES
- Quiet~ Chester appreciates moments of transcendent silence, especially since the hectic school life gets to him at times. One can find him sitting still in a classroom after all the students have left it for lunch, eyes half shut as if he was listening to music. It is rare to find seconds of complete silence nowadays, but Chester takes it at any chance he gets.
People~ He likes people, their complexity and their intentions, as pure or as vile as they might be. It was interesting to him, and Chester never fails to learn new things whenever he talks and interacts with someone new. The friendliness he has toward strangers stems from that liking, but just having an affinity for people doesn't mean that he was willing to protect all of them or confess his secrets to anyone. As much as his liking goes, it doesn't mean that Chester will be dropping his guard around them anytime soon.
Food~ One of his favourite things perhaps, Chester enjoys all kinds of delicacies, whatever they might taste like. Though he usually prefers sweet things, Chester isn't picky about what he eats, and he eats whenever he could. It is perhaps a miracle that his body is still skinny, but Chester has no qualms about eating. Dieting was something that will strike him with horror. One should never torture your body or your tastebuds like that, and having a satisfied stomach is one of the best feelings one could have.
DISLIKES
- Being in the centre of attention~ Chester gets uncomfortable and awkward whenever everyone's eyes are on him for too long, and often gets the worst cases of stage fright. Having a habit for staying in the background, Chester feels a sense of danger and threat every time there were too many eyes focused on him. He gets visibly tense, and his smiles are often more strained. That is one of the reasons pertaining to his usual quiet and average behaviour, trying to seem as unnoticeable as possible.
Surprises~ Chester is easily startled, and while most would find that fact amusing Chester does not like being surprised out of the blue. It triggers a defence mechanism if the scare is bad enough that will make them end up with the nearest sharp object on their throats, whatever it is. However, he is usually able to catch himself in time before he pierces a classmate's throat with his pencil.
Fighting~ He earnestly advises others against violence and fighting, trying to break them up as much as he can. That said, just because he doesn't approve of violent doesn't mean he doesn't approve of its outcome. Chester simply thinks that a fight can be quickly won just by just killing the other quickly without having to get anymore unnecessary wounds or conflicts involved.
FEARS
- Humanoid objects~ Things that look uncannily human freak him out all the time, whether it was robots or dolls. He could always feel their eyes follow him around the room, and he can sense no wavelengths from them. It terrifies him slightly to think of what those objects might be thinking that he has no idea of finding out.
SKILLS
- Prediction~ It is ultimately the skill he is the best at, whether he uses it consciously or not. Every slight change in breath or heartbeat, every twitch in the muscle of the person he is looking at intones precisely what their next movements will be. Chester can sense mood changes, along with the blind spots of others and when they are distracted. He refers to it as a 'frequency rate' in which the frequency rises or lowers based on the person's emotions and future actions. As a result, that skill had helped him do things without others noticing the slightest, by just slipping in and out of the frequency zones and blind spots.
Killing~ It was a skill that he had been born with, one that had been honed until he could kill without much notice at the age of nine.Chester swore that he would never use it again however, no matter how much he might think that it was the right thing to do.
HOBBIES
- Art~ Painting was a way for him to show his emotions, and Chester makes beautiful drawings and paintings that look like they came from dreams. His skill is applied to camouflage, skilfully blending paints and colors so he can hide in the crowd of uniforms at school.
Insects~ He has several glass boxes of butterflies, able to pick them out of the air and dip them in the bottle of preservative quickly and effectively without startling the creatures before they die. A little cruel perhaps, but while Chester likes their beauty he cannot admire them if their wings keep moving so. His Mother is of course quite disapproving of that particular hobby, so Chester keeps it mostly a secret.
SEXUALITY
- Asexual.
ODDITIES
- Hair~ His hair is a vivid blue, an odd color compared to most normal ones. Unlike what the teachesr might think, Chester had never once dyed it, and it is still unknown why he has that odd Color of hair. He usually hides it with the hood of his jacket so that the Teachers wouldn't complain, but he was thinking of getting it dyed soon should it get too troublesome to hide.
- Chester is a genius at camouflage, along with blending in and hiding his presence to get overlooked in fights. He is good at stealth attacks, and knows how to use the opponents 'wave length' he sees, their blind spots and reaction times to his advantage. Apart from that, Chester knows the power of fear and surprise, and his attacks are usually precisely tuned to his opponent's reaction time so that he can kill them without them even noticing that they had been killed. His body is fast and nimble both in and out of combat situations, and he can scale a cliff and climb a tree with ease, finding footholds even if there seem to be none.
WEAPONS/TOOLS
- Anything he can get this hands on really. Chester isn't too picky with weapons, he'll use anything sharp most of the time, but he prefers a blade to a gun.
BOX WEAPONS
- ???
TECHNIQUES
- Hide in plain sight, allow others to underestimate you and stay unnoticed until the time is ripe. Then entangle them with fear without giving them an opportunity to fight back, and kill them. That was the way that worked for him most of the time anyway, Chester sees no point in attacking up front.
STRENGTHS
- Natural born killer~ It wasn't something he was proud of, but every cell in his body seems to have the skill in them that teaches him how to kill. It is something that comes naturally to him, whether it was learning things as a child or studying the human psychology in order to get along with others. Each of the skills he picked up can be used to kill, and his gage on the reactions and blind spots of others makes him all the more dangerous when he was a hidden threat, no more than a deadly shadow.
WEAKNESSES
- Guns~ Not that he would ever have the opportunity to handle them, but Chester is terrible with firearms. He had never practised his aim with anything other than water guns before, and while he aim is decent the weight of the gun and his fumbling fingers would only cause mistakes.
Strength~ He is a thirteen year old, and to tip it off is quite skinny. Chester makes it up by using his speed and intuition, but based on pure muscle strength alone he is no match for others.
ROMANTIC INTEREST
- Nope.

When he reached the age of school, it might as well have been his first time exposed to violence. Children played roughly with one another, they tussled and wrestled around. Chester always felt out of place, especially when some of them found out that he did not have a father. The rumours spread like wildfire, and Chester soon found himself running as fast as his legs would get him back home with his hands tightly over his ears, trying to avoid the taunts and teases thrown his way. But he never fought. Chester was always taught to tolerate others, so he avoided fights as much as possible. It was then that he had arguably developed most of his skills of disguise and hiding, learning how to expertly scale trees as their jests became more cruel as their ages grew. Chester always managed to stay well out of sight, learning to observe the very moment when their thoughts changed to target him so that he could hide in time. He never told his mother, hiding the bruises from stones under a guise of falling off sidewalks. It would only distress her, and even at the age of eight Chester knew not to upset his mother. She never said anything that divulged her weakness, but Chester read her full well to know that she has enough worries to trouble her.
However, it was at that time when he came to question things as well. Chester always went with the flow, but he started really thinking about his father's presence. After pestering his mother several times, he learned that his father was a hitman working for the mafioso. She wouldn't divulge any further details to him, though Chester doubted that it mattered at all. Perhaps it was in his bloodline, but he had already started learning through daily experience on how to hide away and avoid attention. For a period of time after finding out the truth, Chester wished to follow in his father's footsteps as well, training himself to learn how to use weapons, using his skills to his best advantage by attempting to see how close he could get to people on the streets by slipping in the blind spots of others. That said, Chester never took that ambition seriously. He didn't want to make his mother worry, so it was never more than just a childish phase to him, like children playing war with water guns. Only he practised with real people and blood. Chester was only nine then, and his disassociation with violence in his peaceful life never gave him the view that killing others were out of place unless they died peacefully. After all, he was at the age where boys idolised superheroes, and Chester went one step further and acted on it. For a period of time, his mother was concerned with a rise of robbers near their neighbourhood, so Chester did the only thing he thought of doing to keep her at ease. Corpses of criminals started to appear time and again, their throats cleanly cut with a small blade. No one ever thought of suspecting a child, so he was never caught. When it seemed that it only increased his mother's concerns, Chester stopped killing, but by then the criminals had already learned not to stay anywhere near the area.
It took a year to realise that what he had committed then was a crime, and Chester swore to himself that he will never kill someone again, no matter how much he believes that solves all problems with minimal injuries. In his entire life until now, he had never thought that his skills was anything different from the ones others possess. In fact, he was average in everything else, so Chester didn't consider himself talented the slightest. So instead, he started honing the skills to get along with others. He earned the trust of his classmates after a while, and learned to like the place he was living in. He moved to Japan on his thirteenth birthday, with some shady activities popping up in their country, enough to worry his mother that they were going to get targeted as well. And thus, Chester found himself in Namimori, Japan, attending a new school as a transfer student. Chester did what he was best at there, staying low and trying to make no enemies, using his mother's philosophies the best he could despite the ease he leans toward the opposite. Quietly learning new things, picking up new skills while hiding in the shadows was always his way, and Chester saw no need to change it now. He had resolved to lead a normal life lest he worry his mother any further, so that was what he would try to do to the best of his abilities.
