Jodie McFarland's Story

Kay peaked outside form the manhole cover, she saw someone heading towards her and smiled. It had been so long since she saw anyone else. She climbed back down to her makeshift camp, and grabbed her things she couldn't stay here there wasn't any food left, and the things were starting to sound louder. She climbed back up the ladder and carefully jumped on the outside, her eyes focused on the girl and she tried to flag her down. please see me she begged silently.

Her eyes widen as a thing started to stumble form an alleyway she gasped scared holding her hammer she wasn't sure what to do. She'd never killed one of them before, she'd just hide and hide.

Kay looked at a strange robot moving towards her, she hadn't seen one in so long it was kinda scary looking. she stepped back swinging her hammer at it and yelping in fear. "Get away!" and felling to the ground her hammer swinging out of her hands and falling to the ground with a large thump. Her eyes looking up at the robot, it seemed undamaged but she didn't know anything about things like that.

Kay shuttered, she had been told to come with people before it was never a good thing. Before she could answer the lady the robot grabbed her flung her up to the surface, she dropped her teddy and screamed “Blakely!” she cried tears pouring from her eyes. It was all she had left, she couldn’t be without him, she cried harder not caring how loud she was getting.

Kay, stopped crying and looked at the manhole "My Teddy" she exclaimed "and my things..." she continued looking back and forth between the three. She heard a monster in the distance, and whimpered "we need to hide!" she bursted away from them and ran to her hiding place. She wiped the tears from her face and pushed the cover away leaping down the ladder and back in the hole. Grabbing Blakely she huddled in the corner of the collapsed tunnel looking at the light above her.

Kay heard noised upstairs and snuggled her teddy, "The monsters" she cried pointing the light on top. Curling up in a ball she whimpered, "I want to wake up now, I want my Mommy and Daddy." She hated it here, living in a sewer having to stay hidden of face the monsters it wasn't something a little girl should have to deal with.

"Help, her!" she winned not wanting to see anyone become one of those things.

Kay nodded gently, "I don't want to stay here again tonight." she said as the girl spoke. "I just want my mommy..." she cried a little harder than the last. her big blue eyes looking up at her she huffed and cuddled her teddy bear. Nearby Boone was taking pot shots at the zombies from a rooftop, when he noticed the funny robot and girl nearly get grabbed. He shot one that was getting close to them and started heading to the street. He'd traveled from Boston, maybe they had news from Dallas.

"Hey!" he yelled grabbing a knife from his pocket and stabbing a freak before he grabbed him.

Kay watched while hugging her teddy, "I'f we're going I need to pack my thing up more." she said and started rolling her sleeping bag, and tried attaching it to her backpack. She looked at the three empty sleeping places where her classmate used to be and frowned. "I wish you came sooner, they might have made it too." she added and sat down on the cold floor.

Boone, looked at the Robot "Strange thing aren't you." he said holstering his weapon. "I'm just here cause I saw you all in need of help." he said and moved to the manhole and started down, looking at the girls he sighed. "Any of ya'll from Dalles by chance?"

"The monster's took them" Kay said and grabbed as much as she could and stuffed it in her backpack. "I think I have everything." she said holding her teddy close to her. Her eyes blinking as they kept talking she was getting confused a little and wasn't sure who was talking to who.

Boone, sighed at the Robot he didn't like them much. "Damn," he grunted. "was hoping..." he trailed off. "Ah it was a pipe dream anyway." he said looking at the kid. "You've got a kid with you? you sure you know what you're doing?" he walked over to Kay and knelt down to her eye level. "Kid you know these ladies?"

Kay nodded gently, "uh huh."

Boone stood up, and looked at the girls. "I got a truck, if ya'll need a ride I'm head to Dallas I'll take you anywhere on the way."

Ted chuckles at Rory, and pecks Emily's cheek, running to catch up to Boone. "I'm Ted, and you're.... ?" He asked politely, helping with the door.

Emily giggled as he pecked her, and looked at Jodie and Rory. "Hey, I like you too!" I protested to Rory. Then, I motioned for Kay to come to me. I knelt, so I was on her eye level.

Boone kept his mouth out of their conversation, and moved to pull the hard cover over the back end as they argued were they were going. Frankly he didn't care where they went after Washington, but he wasn't going to Canada he told them he'd give them a ride on the way to Dallas and till he heard any news from down there he wasn't doing anything differently. Kay had already climbed in the back set and nodded of in the back set, boone smiled softly before looking back at the others.

"I think we need to get going.." he herd Ted speak at last.

"Jeez, kid you think so?" He replied sarcastically, "Only a band of Zombies heading our way." he joked and laughed a tiny bit. "Get in the back," he sighed climbing in the front seat and pushing the keys in the ignition.

Boone nodded, "that's good, useful traite I suppose" he said making a sharp right shaking the cab a bit. "What in D.C if you don't mind me asking?" he asked. Wail Kay snored ever so slightly in the back seat. "I mean I drove though from Boston but it didn't seem much better than here." he said.

Sarah walked along the side of the country road, it was risky but according to her map if she stayed the course she was going she would make it to the Macon border before it got too late. It was like there was an electricity in the air around her just from her sure nervousness. Typically she stayed using paths through the forests and rivers there was always a smaller amount of infected in those areas than there were on main roads like this one. Every noise made her flinch or snap her head in the direction the sound came from, she didn't want to be taken off guard, she was already walking around with her machete in hand just in case she got ambushed.

As she walked in her heightened state of panic, she heard what sounded like a vehicles engine coming up the road behind her. She stopped on the side of the road and looked in the direction the sound was coming from. It had been some time since Sarah had seen a moving vehicle so at first she thought that the loneliness was getting to her and she had started seeing and hearing things that weren't there. But it became apparent as the truck moved closer, that it was real. She didn't really know what to think, it was moving awfully fast and if they did see her would they even stop and if they did stop were the people trustworthy enough to even think of riding with them. However the plus to it is there's safety in numbers, and she'd get to Macon faster. It was a risk she decided to take, as the truck got closer she started to wave her arms and call out to the vehicle.

"Heeeey!!!" She yelled hoping they would hear her and stop.

Boone swerved and slammed on his brakes, seeing the girl in the road. "Holy fucking shit!" he yelled as Kay woke up and yawned. "You said a swear." she said and rubbed her eyes. He looked to Jodie, "More company?" he shook his head. "Gonna need another car soon." he joked.

They stopped she couldn't believe it, she clipped the clasp on the holster that held her machete. She didn't want to freak them out thinking she was some crazy lady.

I'm Emily... you're?"

"Sarah.... my names Sarah, I was surprised by the truck, don't see much of any vehicles around any more. I don't want to intrude, but might you have room for another. I'm just trying to get to Macon in one piece, my uncle lives there... if he's still alive." Her tone was quiet, and she couldn't help but look around to make sure nothing came jumping out while they were stopped on the side of the road.

Sarah smiled and followed the young woman, it was nice to actually see some people that just weren't flat out being evil towards each other. It was a bit of squeeze but after Emily sat down on the young mans lap they all managed to get inside. Sarah looked around the cab of the truck as she closed the door. There was Emily of course and the guy she was currently sitting on, just on the other side of Emily was a little girl. Just to see a child made Sarah smile, it was nice to know that there were kids out their surviving. In the passenger seat there was another young woman, and the driver was an older man in a cow boy hat.

"I really appreciate this... once we get into Macon I'll hop out I don't want to crowd you all the way to where I need to go. My uncles place is on the outskirts, he has a small farm there. So it wont take me too long to walk from there. My names Sarah, by the way its nice to meet some people still decent enough to stop and help someone." She introduced herself to the others she hadn't met yet.

"Anytime, deary." Emily smiled warmly at her, then squeaked, jumping, as Ted wrapped his arms around his waist. Emily pecked his cheek, then punched him playfully. "This is Ted, Kay is on the other side of me, Jodie is up front, and Boone is our lucky driver." Emily introduced everyone herself, pointing to each one as she said their names. "We're happy to help a fellow survivor." She then giggled. "We'll have to start putting them in the back if we get anymore, Boone!" Emily chuckled.

Sarah nodded respectfully to Boone, obviously this was his truck she could tell by the tone he used when he talked to the others. And she was pretty sure with the drawl in his accent that he was probably from Texas. When Ted introduced himself, Sarah internally shook her head and laughed a little. She could tell he was the type of guy that thought he was smooth with the ladies.When he offered his hand she took his in hers and shook it firmly and then placed her hands back in her lap.

She then turned her attention back to the driver, even though he had told her she could get some rest she knew she wouldn't be able to. She had never been able to sleep in a moving vehicle, even when she was a child her parents would complain cause she didn't sleep on long trips in the car like her brothers did.

"So... Boone, it may be a long shot by I'd guess you're from Texas."

Boone watched the road and nodded silently, "Born and raised." he said in response to the new girl's question. Noticing Jodie's silence, but not saying a word about it. Instead he kept his eyes on the road.
